Welcome back to the podcast. Today we have the return of one of my favorite guests,
Anahata Ananda, fresh out of Sedona. She has flown in to come see the land and give the family
hugs and kisses. I've done several podcasts with her, been on her podcast. She's just an
incredible medicine woman. She did a blessing for us for our little wolf when she was born and
we were out in Sedona. I think it's been that long since she's seen her. So it was really cool
for Wofi to get to play with her and her to get to see,
just Anahata to see her develop and all the magic that that little being is,
along with Bear Man.
So really cool.
Alana Hata is a mother.
She mothered fraternal twins, a boy and a girl who are now in their 20s,
and she has a wealth of knowledge on parenting.
That's one thing I love.
Just when you think you've got it down,
something changes, your kid changes a year or two,
and then all of a sudden it's like, oh, shit, no, I don't know anything again.
And so I love listening to people who have gone through,
the whole process, which still isn't ending, you know, like you say, you're a parent until you're dead,
but even after that, likely. But, you know, her, it's, she's still a mom. She's just changed for her,
you know, but she has so much wisdom and, and so many valuable tools. And that's really what we get
into here today is the path of the shaman, the medicine path. And, you know, if you asked me what
that path would have meant five years ago, you'd only hear me talking about plant medicines,
probably ayahuasca, for sure psilocybin. Maybe I'd heard about a darkness retreat, but that's for
pussies. You know, that's what I would have said five years ago. And, you know, as we talk about
this conversation, I really have felt almost nudged from the medicine to look in different ways
to expand my tool set. And so she got those same nudges. I didn't know this about her. She talks a
lot about her medicine path, and it hit me like a Mack truck hearing her getting very similar downloads
earlier on in her life, you know, and seeing what she's become through listening to that. And so it was
a doubled down on what I was intuiting, you know, a little verification, a little God nod,
as I like to call it. So it was very cool. I love Anahontad Deerly. She left us a super, super cool
gift for you guys, absolutely free in the show notes. It'll be at the very top. There's a guided
meditation to find your power animal. And this can change, right? It's not like, oh, you know,
I even tell my kids this. I'm like, just because your name's Bear or Wolf doesn't mean that's
your only spirit animal. You're going to have several. And your ability to connect to those will
change over time and you'll have different animals, insects, plants that speak to you at different
times because that's the medicine you need in that moment. Anywho, all that said, that guided meditation
is going to help you find an ally. And I think it's very cool. I've done this practice with her
face-to-faith. And it's not always what you think. You know, it's not always like, I'm going to get
a polar bear or a fucking lion. That's what I want. I want a lion. It might be, I get the, you know,
the dormouse. Or, you know, what do they call? What does Moabib mean and Dune? It's like the
little tiny giant-eared mouse or jackrabbit right but very attentive you know there's power
and all these things so listen to that it's worth it it is free check out on the hanta's work if
you're ever in sedona she is somebody you must put on your schedule she's got a brilliant place
to go visit called shine we'll link to that place in the show notes if you're a coach and you want
to hold events events with five people 50 people or more that's a place you can do it at in
Sedona and it is made and designed for ceremony. It is made and designed to hold the highest
integrity while you go through process. And if you're just there by yourself or you're here with
your partner and you want to go deep, you can do that with her. You can schedule sessions with
Anahatta and I've done that. I've done workshops with Anahatta with my wife. I've done workshop solo
and I've done a deeper dive with her. All that stuff is available there. So listen to my lady. She is
incredible. The medicine
Shamanamama, Anahata.
Thank you for being on the podcast again. Enjoy the show.

All right. Without further ado, Anahata.
Anahata, Ananda,
welcome back to the podcast and welcome
to our humble abode. Oh, I love
coming back to Austin and especially
seeing how much has changed
here on the land
and, you know, what is naturally
wanting to grow, what
is naturally changing and evolving
and leaving and then new things coming in.
So I just love your connection to the land here.
It's always so beautiful.
And the whole fam.
I love the whole fam.
Catching up with everybody.
Yeah, it's been such a good ride.
And it's been a wild ride work-wise because, you know, I get to meet you through working
it on it.
It was before a fit for service was ever created.
We went out, the first use of the house in Sedona was like for employees that on it
to go out and have these little retreats.
And that was the first time I met.
Oranghi, you, and a bunch of others, like, wow.
And that was actually my first time to get to know Ian.
You know, and Ian's been like a brother and just a cornerstone
and everything we've done for so long, you know,
like just one of the best humans on earth.
But I joke about that how, you know, when we first met,
you were, you had on papers like conscious relationships workshop.
You know, and I was like, oh, this is great.
My wife's here with me, Natasha.
You know, this will help us level up our relationship game, you know.
And it did, but it had nothing to do with her.
everything to do with the greatest teacher, right, which was a different family member.
And, you know, the reframe around the person who you've learned from the most isn't always
the person you've learned from in the best way, right, or the kindest way or that.
Just the person you've learned from the most total could be something that's teaching
you of what not to do, right?
And that reframe was like, wow, I could look at, you know, those experiences with a different
lens, and then I could understand there's a gift there, right?
There's a way to harvest from that.
and there totally is because like I'm a different dad because of those gifts when I was a kid, right?
I'm a different partner and a husband because of seeing what not to do from both my parents.
And I think that is a huge gift.
And I think as parents now, we get to realize that, yes, we're going to have things that we pass on to our kids,
just as what was passed on to us by a parent that are positive, things we do want to keep,
things that we do want to model.
If there wasn't something we wouldn't be alive that was,
positive or beneficial in some way. And then, you know, there is the expectation that my parents
are supposed to give everything to me perfect just right. And, well, then there's no growth. There's
no innovation. There's no up-leveling. There's no evolution of the species if we don't take what
is given to us that is positive. And then also where there is a gap, we can say, okay, what would I
like to improve upon this as a man, as a woman, as a son, as a daughter, as a parent. And that
begins the evolution of, okay, I'm going to fill in the gaps of what I don't want to do.
Like, those are the most painful ones that are sometimes inspire us to go to the other end of
the pendulum and say, okay, if this is what I received that was not so excellent, then let me move
into the places. Even if I don't know what I'm doing, I know what not to do. And that is so
valuable to receive what not to do that cuts all of these paths off that we already know
have been walked and don't work and that's really valuable to not have to walk those paths and
repeat it and sometimes we have to do that sometimes we're like let me just double check if
drinking a lot works you know let me just double check if bleeding it's still not certain
I just need another little clue on this test that out for myself you know sometimes we have to
just repeat the mistakes our parents made and it's just hilarious you're like yep that's true
does not work. And so, yes, to see the gift in both, because we're going to receive the gifts,
but also some of the puzzle pieces are going to be backwards and upside down are completely
missing. And we can throw a tantrum and say, well, I should have gotten it that way. And it's like,
but that keeps you from finding it or flipping the new puzzle pieces or finding new ones. And you've
certainly innovated parenting. You know, both you and Tosh have said, well, let's do it a different
way. Let's parent. Let's teach a different way. Let's guide. Let's create a family dynamic that's
different. So I love that. Yeah. Yeah. Thank you. Well, we wanted to talk. It's great. I'd love anytime
you come to town, you know that you've always got a spot on this podcast and I always want to hang with you. So this is
awesome. And I will have to figure out ways I would have been in Sedona next month, but that's actually
what I'm doing my vision quest. So timing did not work out. But that will be a once of
thing where we're heading back with Aubrey and the crew to Sedona so I'll be very pleased to
make sure the stars line up and that we get to hang out and P gets to hang out and that we all
get some time together you know those are very valuable you know like that's soul feeding soul
food for me me too I mean there's something really powerful about this community and we've been
together for so many years and we've received we've supported each other we've served
and the evolution of each of us has has been part of this experience
and, you know, having you guys come back to Sedona every year has just nourished my heart and soul
because they're just, you know, family to me. And it is, you know, as Fit for Service has shifted,
it has left a gap there, that there's something still to be experienced where Sedona is the Mecca for healing,
for transformation, for shamanism, and for connecting with the lands and the elements, it's so
powerful.
And, you know, in what we have created there, it's leveraging that land and the wisdom teachings,
and I appreciate, and the breathwork and inspiration and healing.
It's accelerated by Sedona.
That's why I live there, is that I want to be in that Mecca that people come to for healing
and transformation. And that's been my soul calling is to collaborate with the shaman that is
Sedona and say, okay, how can I weave with you, you know, goddess? How can I weave with you
powerful mountains and land and ancient wisdom teachings? How can I serve and weave and collaborate
with you so that it can accelerate and potentiate healing and transformation and spiritual
connection and you know that's what shine is all about too that you know the center that i opened
there is that it's meant to be this safe haven for people to experience their own healing their
own transformation their own expansion so it's just another another place that we can play and serve
within yeah one of the things that i really love is that you you created that with the coach in mind
as well so for people that have you know been doing something akin to fit for service so their own
version of it, you know, my buddy Michael Holt, Savage and Saint, you know, groups like that,
men's groups or otherwise women's groups, where, you know, they have a certain list of things
that can be catalysts for growth and change and they know how to hold the space.
They just need a facility that's of like-minded.
That's what I love about that is that it's not just open for people to come and experience.
It's open for people to come and give, you know, and provide a space that people can have
transformation and growth.
And I love that.
I love that.
That's a nice little multi-pronged thing that you're really.
have offered to people, which is really incredible.
We have such amazing leaders, teachers, and coaches coming from around the world because
they want to facilitate in a venue that has a vibrational match to the frequency of the message
that they're conveying instead of being in a Hilton ballroom, you know, or an Airbnb whose
energy blueprint isn't necessarily a vibrational match for the inspiration of the messages that
they're sharing.
And so authors, teachers, and coaches love facilitating in that space because we have all the amenities,
but the vibration of the crystals that I put in the wall when we were building it out,
the spiritual council that inhabits that, you know, those spaces are accelerators for whatever
somebody is facilitating.
So we love having amazing people.
So come and explore for yourself or, you know, for facilitation for sure.
All right, guys, quick break to tell you about what I've been up to.
This year has been a year of transition for me with a fit for service making huge changes.
I've been working to create my own community.
I still don't have a name for it yet.
That is in the works.
I'm brewing on it.
But one of the things that I have come to understand is what this community is about.
And so I want to give you a little hint here and let you guys drop in.
I'd love to get your feedback.
And there's a link at the top of the page here if you guys are interested at all.

All right, back to the podcast.
Well, we wanted to talk about the medicine path, the shaman path.
I think it's perfectly timed.
You know, it's people kind of oscillate, you know, since 2020 of Armageddon's on the,
on the way, prepare for the end of the world to, no, everything's fine.
So-and-so got in office or no, everything's fine because this thing happened.
And it's kind of a funny jump from extremes to like, holy shit, the sky is falling,
to then everything's going to pan out and it's quite likely that both are true in a certain
extent right the world is ending in the birth of something new right Michael Mead wrote a great
book on that and talked to me like we're in a never-ending evolving eternal game and that is going
to be on many levels destructive and at these pivotal points in time whether it's the fourth
turning or the great year in the Caliuga right there are you know points of which
there we experience great loss and great gain and um we get to live through that that's wild that's
awesome we're not i'm not just talking to i and you know uh the different you know l l models the things
that are going to change our lives they're talking about everything is shifting and we're going to
change i mean quite likely we'll see the changing of what america was into something now quite likely
that's on its time ticker right there we celebrate in 2026 the 250th anniversary
rome lasted 254 years like you go through all the great empire
Pires, they have about 250 years before some change happens.
You know, it's not like that wiped off the face of the earth, but like that whole
system moved on to something else.
And, oh, there's a lot there.
So I think one of the things that I've constantly tried to refeed back into my mindset
since 2020 is what's within my control.
Where's a serenity prayer directing me now?
Where's my north star of the things that I can affect change with?
And what's great is that it moves from disempowerment, can't do what, you can't
stop Trump, can't stop the machine, to this is within my control.
This is what I want to focus on.
This is why I want to bring this seed to impregnate the next group, the next years,
the next generation that goes forward so that they're left with that golden thread
that I can leave behind.
Yeah, for sure.
This is a, this is, you know, this is evolution.
We're experiencing evolution happening real time.
And we are on a planet that is evolving.
she is moving from a winter season as the as as as as things are melting physically the
environment is changing and that shit that ripples down to every species that ripples down to
our cities it ripples down to our food chain there is a you know massive change affecting
and you know in our conversation today about how can the shamanic path help me navigate
massive change. Because massive change is happening ecologically. It's not something we can completely
reverse. It has happened over and over and over again. So we get to be in flow and adapt.
The species, we've had multiple mass extinctions on this planet. And what's interesting is that
a species either evolves or it dies out. And we're kind of a unique, humanity is a very unique
species is that our, in our domestication, we're becoming less intuitive, less instinctual,
less adaptive.
If our coffee isn't on time, we're having a tantrum.
If we're, if our, you know, if the temperature is too hot or too cold, we're whining about
it.
And, you know, we are de-evolving in many ways from our primal instincts where those primal instincts
are what has kept animals from becoming extinct.
You know, if they can feel something is changing,
they will grow a thicker coat if it gets colder.
If they can sense that environmentally something isn't the same
or the food change is shifting,
they will migrate to a different food chain.
And we're just like, hey, no, I'm going to stay here.
Even though that volcano is about to erupt,
I'm just going to stay here because I don't want to lose
my home and my convenience and everything I know. And so our stubbornness and our ignorance and
our disconnection from primal instincts could wipe us out. And so that is, you know, being in the
shamanic path is using our intuition and our senses to be aware. Yes, things are changing
environmentally, for sure. Things are changing politically all over the place. You can't not
see that there is a lot of upheaval in the financial systems that we have built on that are not
stable and you know and social structures and political structures and financial structures that are
impermanent and in the shamanic path it is that ability to sense and be aware and adapt
and be able to be flexible to move and adapt quickly.
And that's our opportunity to be like deer,
because we saw a lot of, you know, deer already this morning.
And the deer is constantly paying attention,
smelling, ears always moving to be like,
what's going on around me?
And that's taking a clue from nature
that animals pay attention, they listen, they sense,
And that's our opportunity for not only survival at this time, but thriving.
Okay, if this is changing, how can I adapt?
And that doesn't mean that there's not grief and resistance in the process of change.
But the more we can be adaptive and flexible, the more likely we are to create a sustainable
path than one that we're kind of shocked and surprised that everything I'm attached to just crumbled in.
And, you know, in the past, when those things have crumbled like the Roman Empire or a stock market crash, there's a lot of deaths and suicides right after that because if that's all I'm attached to, then I'm out of here.
And it's like really fascinating as we move into this fall season and winter season here right now, how can we be like the snake and shed the skin?
how can we be like the trees and be aware that the weather is changing and adapt and let go of some things
and listen and be still to what am I feeling what do I need what is happening in my initial environment
and how can I adapt and adjust so that I can take care of myself and you know offer to my community
around me and not be sinking and drowning at this time and it's like it takes a lot of
presence and surrender to be like, okay, things are changing. And that's the power of being on
the shamanic way is having one foot on the earth and also the eagle eye perspective that's
looking at the horizon that's paying attention to different weather storms coming that is
aware of patterns and changes and then adapts and sees the bigger
picture and then okay how can I make change here when I'm on the earth like in the in the 3d so it's like
it's on for sure you know and we've come so far from being the wild wolf you know some of us have
these you know primal instincts like where not too many generations ago we lived on the land and for some
of us it's much farther back and we're like that poodle that wears a Gucci sweater that is like
in a stroller and we're so far from our like primal predator nature and we kind of want to move
back into those primal instincts that we're able to adapt and and provide and and you know evolve
as we need and that requires a lot of surrender and presence yeah and i think the the shamanic path
has definitely been something that you know and of course that's a very broad term when we
understand how many paths lead up that same mountain but um how important it is as a teacher
for bringing us back into our knowledge our noses our connection to spirit or the high self right
intuition um it's a synchronicity generator right when we're in where we're in that space where
we're clearing out ourselves we have the tuning fork tuned in and we're tapped into our surroundings
i think that that's where the space becomes available for intuition for connection for insight
and aha moments and there are many practices that can get us there you know we were talking uh i have
my first vision quest coming up here next month on the land and and ken conti's going to be here to
pour sweat for us to open the doors and and to bring us back from the other side eric godsey's
going to do it with me and uh jimmy weldon who who i had on the podcast he was the guy that led the
way so this will be his second of the four years together um but you know i've i've fancied
many an avenue up the mountain. I fancy many an avenue to source. And it's funny because
when I met you, I was 20, 30, I was 35 or 36 when we met. I'm 43 now. And, you know, having more
than one kid. Like, there's a number of things that are incredibly grounding, you know,
but having more than one kid, going through some, some pretty heroic journeys. And also then,
you know, witnessing some of the things that you had talked about, like, hey, careful here, you know,
because when I'm beating the drum, you're like, careful here.
It doesn't work out that way for everybody.
You know, these psychedelic ceremonies don't always pan out the way they pan out for you, right?
And I was like, oh, that's kind of hard to imagine.
It's done so much for me, you know, and then, you know, work with thousands of people
and see a few of them go off the rail.
And you're like, oh, shit, there's some truth there, right?
So I've been really gravitating towards, number one, things that are accessible for everyone.
That's what we had to give in fit for service.
We weren't shaman working with ayahuasca.
We were delivering breathwork with people like you and Lucas and Hela.
And, you know, and then from there, what are some of these other ones that were traditionally pretty hard to do?
You know, like, it's not, I've done two five-day water fasts.
Every year, Godsey and I put people through a fasting-mimicking diet where we just eat one shake, a thousand-calorie shake each day for five days.
And that does a lot of good for the health of the body.
But the ceremony of the Vision Quest, no food, no water, that's a different ball game, right?
I'd love for you to speak to this and then we can dive into some of these other practices.
where the things that you've mentioned, like surrender, presence,
they're just baked into the equation, whether you want it or not.
You will have a gentle hand or a forceful hand guide you into those experiences.
Yeah, I think that, I think one of the reasons why I was drawn to the shamanic path
is when I was going through my own Dark Night of the Soul,
I wanted an efficient solution.
And for me, personally at the time, talk therapy wasn't going deep enough.
and there was so much to excavate.
The impatient part of me wanted something a little bit more efficient.
And I also had twins that were three years old.
I'm like, listen, I got to get at this quickly and efficiently and put something new in its place.
Otherwise, I will repeat the pattern of what was passed to me by my dad.
And I don't want to pass on aggression.
I don't want to pass on impatience.
I don't want to pass on force.
and my trauma being passed down.
And so I was motivated by that as well.
And so I dove into the shamanic path.
And the first path, as you say, many roads lead there.
The first path that I looked at was doing shadow work.
And that is that shamanic excavation of the core wounds, of the dark, the pain, the ugliness
that so much of us have been programmed and traditional.
you know is is accustomed to just stuffing and avoiding and ignoring and numbing and you know we've all
done that you know run hide blame sedate ignore and distract those are some of our coping mechanisms
of not dealing with it because we don't have the tools we don't have the time we don't know how we're
not ready and i was ready i'm like give it to me and that was the first you know kind of body of wisdom
teachings that was able to very efficiently, quickly excavate the deepest and darkest stuff
inside of me and help me to release it. And so I fell in love with that path because I'm like,
wow, there's a lot of people that can, you know, move on or kind of accelerate their journey
to not pass this on or not spend decades in addiction numbing. And so I was really motivated to not
only experienced that, but also to train in it. And so that's one of those paths is kind of like
the shadow work. And breath work became a passion for me 25 years ago because I saw how efficient
it was. And emotional, you know, release techniques that are quite ancient in origin. And then
another part of that was the ceremonial nature of the shamanic path, the sweat lodge, the Inepe, the
process of going back into the womb and having a do-over, going back into the womb and shedding
and sweating and being humble and being tested and being uncomfortable and cultivating that
inner presence to move through discomfort and pray and hit the dirt and be humble and sweat out
the ego and ask for divine guidance. I mean, it's been,
nothing has got me down to the dirt with my head in it, just like, please God, you know, help me through
this. And, you know, there will be times on the horizon where we need to be able to, like, help me through
this hot time. Like, I am uncomfortable, whether it's a divorce, a diagnosis, whether it is a big life
change, and to be able to have that skill set that happens in the Aenepe of, like, wow, this is
intense and being able to focus the mind and not panic, not run for the door, not reach for
anybody else, but to go in, to go into prayer, and to summon and allow in a higher power to
help you move through the shadow. And in that in needy space, as you move through the different
directions, there is also let's celebrate, let's pray, let's let's laugh, let's sing. And it brings in a
whole other level of community that helps you through the density that is like, okay,
we're in this together and let's sing songs and let's share prayers that will help us move through
this and make us feel that stronger so that we can birth out of the portal stronger than when
we came in, moving into the east gate of new beginnings where now the sun is rising. We have new
clarity, we have new energy, we're clear of our toxins and our fears, and we're stronger.
And, you know, that, that process of transformation was really inspiring for me, that it's not
just about the density release, but for me, that term shamanjelic, which I, you know, trademark
to, to demonstrate that it's not just about the shadow work, but it's about putting, that's, that's
the first step, but then it's the light work that we put in its place, the truth, the spiritual
intuition, and that ancient wisdom that then we can come back to wholeness again. And so there's
that path of the ceremony, sweat lodge and spirit dance and fasting and many vision quests that
I've had the privilege of being on that, you know, in that vision quest,
where there's no distraction, there is no phone, there's no pen, there's no paper,
there's no food to distract, there's no people to talk to, you just have to sit with
yourself. And in that process of stillness and non-distraction, like nothing to distract,
and even oftentimes you will have one guide,
one teacher, one animal, one element in nature to study and go deep with.
And for me, one of those was this redwood tree where I'm like, okay, I'm just, it's you and me.
That's it.
And, you know, like, okay, in the first five minutes, okay, roots, yeah, got it, trunk, uh-huh, leaves, branches, okay, there's some fire here.
Yeah, you've gone through transformation.
Okay, five minutes.
I've got it.
I'm done.
Like, okay, I'm done.
I'm ready to eat and sleep.
I read a book on it.
Yeah, yeah, like, okay, I got it.
And it was like, okay, that's five minutes.
You know, how about seven days?
How about seven days?
You know, and it's like, okay, go deeper and go deeper.
And what that does is it awakens our shamanic senses that have been dulled with modern technology and socialization as we've, you know, de-evolved.
And so the vision quest is one of those accelerators.
not unlike dark room, you know, where we're just being still and quiet and connecting
to the field of energy of another being that is connected to the universe as we are connected
to and the remembering happens and our separation dissolves between us and another being.
our senses are returned back to original blueprint where we're capable of seeing through a tree.
We're capable of seeing and feeling its history.
We're aware of what's underneath and every animal that is affected by this tree and what its purpose is,
what its life mission is, and what message it has to share.
And that's day one.
You know, like then there's more.
Then there's more.
Then we become the tree.
Then we see what happens in life cycles.
And there's so much more that we become attuned with.
And I think that the shamanic practices have been a very valuable fine-tuning process
for healing, for grace, gratitude, and ceremony,
but also re-establishing our shamanic senses that are our,
our power

addictive chemical. Nicotine is also an awesome chemical. It's one of my favorites. It's one of the
best natures ever made. It turns the brain on. It allows you to access memories. Anything you
want. Language. Referencing from books. If you're podcasting, if you're presenting, that's a reason why
a lot of performers, a lot of comedians, a lot of writers will work with nicotine while they're writing
while they're on stage because of the fact that it helps draw,
it's a muse that draws the brain into coherence
so you can be the very best version of yourself.
And it also feels good.
That's probably why it's addictive.
It feels good.
Let's be honest.
It feels good to rock nicotine.
I love the mint.
I rock the 12-mic pouches, but start slow.
Work your way up.
There's no reason to jump up.
If you jump up to the big boys too quick and get nauseated,
just go low.
Go light.

Our power move right now as we navigate the unpredictable, very, very unpredictable, being a human right now at this time on the planet.
And you know, we've talked about this lots of times about, you know, on the shamanic path,
there's also this mindfulness and a very fine line between what is a medicine and a point.
poison.
Then does this, another, another famous quote I got from you that I love is does,
does this leave me or will this leave me more whole than when I started?
Good memory.
Right.
That is a great fucking thing to ask.
It is a great question.
And, uh, yeah, you know, like I, pain is a great teacher.
So it's an excellent way for me to have that baked into my psyche, you know, through
experiences.
Will this leave me more hold than when I started?
That has definitely changed how I, my trajectory, you know, and, uh, and the, you know,
not just the depth at which I'll go in, but the, what was the word I'm looking for, the frequency,
right? How often, right? So I may have like one or two big journeys a year. And part of that is
having regained, you know, like, people will say this, like, oh, you never needed the medicine. It was
always in you. Could have done yoga and meditation and all that. But I didn't get yoga and meditation
from yoga and meditation. I got yoga and meditation through sitting with ayahuasca. And ayahuasca saying,
yoga meditation, right? And so, and it still took me years. And, and,
working with really good meditation teachers to actually find,
oh, that's what the fuck they're talking about.
Holy shit.
Wow, I feel amazing.
Wow, I'm super tapped in.
And then the nois, the remembering that I am always connected has to come internally.
Or somebody else says it.
It's like advice, right?
It's like, sure, but if I don't have that unlocked yet, no.
The answer is no.
It's not there, right?
And I know for plenty, most people on the planet, it's not there yet.
But it can be there.
And I think with that, you know, whereas before,
and I've talked about this mini podcast, you know, before, I'd have a list in my journal of all the things I was going to ask ayahuasca or all the things I was going to ask the mushrooms, you know, on the heroic dose, December 25th when I'll go in or whatever the date was that I had ahead of me, you know, oh, great, now I can have all these questions answered in three or four months. And just, and it brought me a great degree of relief knowing I was going to be able to process this stuff at a later date. And now I might sit in ceremony once a year with something, you know, and then, you know,
vision quest will be once a year for the next four years. And I finally feel the same degree
of like nerves and respect and desire and excitement as I did like in those very first journeys
with medicines. I feel that now with the vision quest. So I can already tell like my body knows how
powerful it's going to be. But the the need for less often comes from the skill of having
connected myself to that remembering that I can access these answers at any point. And if it's not
there for me yet, there's probably a reason, right? Like, can I sit with this and allow that to bake
for a while and for me to develop as a person before that answer comes to me? That's probably the
move. Because if I keep forcing myself to get this answer early, it might hurt, right? So, like,
maybe. You know, if you have little patience here, right? And that's grace, too, right? If I can
have patience and then it's going to be delivered to the exact point, it's going to need to be
delivered. So it's helped the sorting of those things. And the need for having questions answered
access all those things right because then when you do have that insight or that wisdom it's meant to be
integrated so that you don't have to ask that same question again and if you go back and ask the
same question again the answer becomes a slap in the face it becomes an overdose it becomes
a car crash because it's like I already gave you the answer but you haven't implemented it
And so what I think is really powerful, when you do take in a vision quest, a sweat lodge, a plant ceremony, a transformational experience, there is that opportunity to really take it in, really, really take it in.
And that's the medicine.
But if I don't take it in, it becomes a poison that I keep reaching for.
And then in reaching for something you already have or reaching for something that's not.
integrating and there isn't that grace, there isn't that patient, patients, then we start
attracting those experiences that become painful, that are the slap in the face, that are the
injury, the hospital experience. And at different times of my shamanic journey, spirit has been
like, you're complete with your medicine here. We have nothing else to teach you, but I'm like,
but I want to go back because I remember how it felt when I came here first and sweat lodge is
one of those where I had gone, I had hundreds of sweat lodges under my belt. And it was a place
where some of my deepest transformation, my greatest empowerment, so much of my psychic abilities
turned on from my first few sweat lodges. There's been so much transformation. And I remember
doing like a five-day spirit dance and we do a sweat at the beginning. And then we do a water
fast and 24-hour dance for five days for peace, and we take turns doing that, and then we do a
sweat at the end. And I was in the sweat lodge, the Inipi, we call it. I was in there at sunrise,
and I was called to stay in when the sweat was done. And so I was in the lodge, and I'm like,
okay, grandmother, Inipi, like, you know, before I birth here, what other message do you have
for me and she says well this will be your final birth and I just started crying and she's like we're
complete you're complete I have taught you I have held you you're ready to have another teacher now
and so we will sometimes go back to the same thing expecting the same results when we have grown
if it has really been medicine then we have grown and the same dose and the same experience won't be
what we need. It'll be something different. Just like your, you know, number of times, frequency,
as you said, that you've gone to plant ceremonies has decreased over time because you're like,
I don't need this the way I used to. And there will come a time where it's like, it's not my
medicine anymore. And it takes a lot of, you know, I cried. I just stayed in the sweat lodge and
I cried and I cried, but I need you and I want you. And you're my safe space. And she goes, no,
you're your safe space now.
I've taught you how to be your own anipi, your own womb, your own mother, and to transform
and rebirth and to listen and to be patient and all of the seasons and all of the directions.
It's in you.
This will be your final birth.
And it was like, wow, this is up about rites of passage.
And trusting that if I'm done with this medicine,
not to go back.
I know better than to go back again.
And Iowa was the same way.
Ayahuasca was the same way when I was in the jungle the last time.
And I put my hands on the vine.
I said, grandmother, what else do you need to know?
She says, you're not to ingest me again.
And I'm like, but I, she goes, if you have a question, just ask me.
Yeah.
Just ask me.
But you are not to ingest me again.
And so that, you know, even though I love sweat lodge and I miss sweat lodge and know that there's probably some answers within Aya, it won't be medicine.
It will be a poison.
Both of those have come full circle.
And it's also like inviting us to move on to different teachings and different experiences based on where we are today on our path and not going back to what we needed five years ago.
or even five minutes ago and think it will be the same medicine.
And not to ignore that if it's like, hey, this is done, because that's when you have the
worst trip ever.
How's your life been lately?
It feels like mine is a never-ending hustle.
The constant juggling of responsibilities, the endless to-do list.
It seems that it is impossible to live without overwhelm nowadays.
And I'm not even talking about how it affects overall well-being, sleep, productivity, and
immune system. Stress slowly infiltrates your life, silently robbing you of magnesium, a vital
mineral your body depends on. It's the vicious stress magnesium deficiency cycle. If you heard about it
in simple terms, number one, stress strikes. Number two, your body loses magnesium. Number three,
sleep becomes elusive. Energy and productivity plummet and stress levels skyrocket. Four,
magnesium escapes your body even faster. So how do you break this cycle? Listen up. I found a game
changer. Magnesium breakthrough from bioptimizers. Magnesium breakthrough contains all seven forms of
magnesium which might support stress management by promoting muscle relaxation, regulating the
nervous system, controlling stress hormones, enhancing brain function, boosting energy, and improving
sleep. I take it and it works. Give it a shot. Break free from the vicious cycle and you've got nothing
to lose. Bioptimizers is so confident in their products that they offer a risk-free 365-day money-back
guarantee. If you don't see results, simply claim a refund. No questions asked. It's a win-win.

form factors with this. I love their powdered form. They are sweetened naturally. I give that to
my son, who's a little older. And because it's seven different forms, there's no GI stress.
on the body. Like if you were to take just the single form you're going to get at Whole Foods,
your kids are probably going to shit their pants or shit the bet. That's just plain and plain and
simple. So all that said, the seven forms is far easier on the stomach. It's getting a better
absorption, more bioavailability. I like it as a drink. I like it as a capsule. This is a must
have in your supplement pantry. All right, back to the show. We can go back to high school. We can go
back to junior high like it's time to move forward and take all of those blessings from different
ceremonies or from the vision quest or from the anipi or from the breath work and put it into
place and use those tools implement those tools and walk the path you know embodying all of that
insight and medicine that you've taken in from you know many many experiences and it's like
acknowledging I'm farther along than I think and I
I have more to learn, but it'll come in different forms now.
Yeah.
I like that.
It's kind of like your medicine teacher is your bird mother, and she's just gently talking
about it's time to go fly, fly the nest.
You know, don't come back, start your own nest, you know, work with someone else.
And then if you don't, you get that gentle push out of the nest.
You're like, I said.
You know, but Dr. Will Tagle was, I think I told you about him, he wrote the book
Walking with Bears.
He wrote eight books.
He was a PhD in psychology and a PhD in physics.
It's a really cool blend.
knowledge and you know studied under bearhart williams was his indigenous um uh i guess he was the
protege if you'd call it you know so they studied hand in hand together and he writes a great deal
about that in his book walking with bears he lived in wimbrily he passed away a couple years ago he was
awesome early 80s i got to walk with him from late 70s to early 80s and we'd do a medicine walk and
he would just listen to me and you know i'd listen to him and i'd gain a lot from it and on one of these walks
he told me about how, you know, he'd sat with Kwanah Parker for peyote, you know, like he's an old
timer. He was here in Houston before they had air conditioning in 1966. He remembers the year
they got air conditioning. I'm like, dude, that's just a Congress Street was a dirt road, right?
So, like, he's been through it all. And he was telling me how he still sits with all those
medicines, but he doesn't ingest them. It was like, well, what do you mean you sit with him?
He goes, I mean, I'll literally just sit next to one and I'll tap into it and I'll have,
And I was like, you're not having full on visions, though.
And he was like, full on visions.
I was like, dude, are you serious?
I didn't even think that was possible.
And, you know, and that was his noses too at that point was like, hey, you're to use me
in a different way.
You have me inside you always tap into me, you know, and we can work together that way.
And so he had asked somebody gifted him peyote and he had asked the land where, you know,
and the peyote, where would you like to be?
And you put this in the spot.
Second day it goes in, eight pups pop out, right?
It was just prime real estate for this peyote button.
this walk he's telling me all this stuff and I'm still kind of on the fence you know I'm like
yeah but I don't know maybe even just drinking a little bit would be better than sitting next to it
they still wasn't buying in and we stopped in a space and he you know I could just feel it like
ground moving and I just take a knee and I realize I'm right next to those peyote buttons and just
waterworks like fucking instantaneous like the floodgates got turned on just dumped just poured right
through me in a way that would have been, I mean, I don't know if it would have been that
accessible on medicine, right? Like, I've cried my ass off on ayahuasca, but like this was just like
auto tune, turn it on, bink, you know, floodgates open. Holy shit, what's happening. And it
wasn't visionary for me, but it was probably one of the greatest emotional perters I've ever had
in my life. Like, bar none, you know, and I just remember looking at him like, holy shit, dude.
Like, what is that? That's what's cool is that as we're going through this,
when we first maybe came to some of these experiences,
we were in our denser forms where access to connecting with a plant
psychically was not within our means,
but as we go through these different gateways and evolutions and transformations,
and we're releasing our toxic body and our dense body,
and at the same time we're eating clearer and our psychic channels are opening up
and we have seen more.
We are having that ability to do that.
That's why we get kicked out of the nest because it's like, you can fly.
You're like, no, no, no, I can't fly.
I like it here in the nest when you're feeding me, you know?
And it's like, no, no, you can fly.
And it's expanding our consciousness to be able to be more in our light body.
And that's this range that allows us to be in the 5D and the 3D simultaneously.
That's shape shifting.
How can I connect into a plant, receive its medicine, or become an animal, and have its abilities,
and then come back into the 3D and apply what I just got or help it to give me perspective or advice
or to shift my energy field or give me wisdom that I don't currently have?
And we're just remembering this is why we go through these gateways of, okay, you're done with this.
it's time to move on to this other thing now that allows us to access more of our 5D light body
and our psychic abilities.
One of my teachers, you know, our shamanic wisdom walks would evolve.
He was always stretching my abilities.
You know, at first he would say, close your eyes and, you know, what is the closest animal nearby?
You know, and I'd close my eyes and I'd be really tuned my ears, really, really tuned my ears.
ears where I wasn't hearing the bee before. And then when I really come present, I can hear the
bee. And he's like, where is it? And I'd point in the direction. And he's like, what color flower
is it on? And he would now, like, practice my sight. So the next time we'd go to another level of
psychic abilities, and I was like, what color flower, you know, is, you know, where is he going next?
you know and so then I would anticipate the bees movement and then he's like what shape is the cloud
directly behind you at your six o'clock what shape in the sky is the cloud and he was inviting me
to practice my 360 degree vision and like oh I couldn't do that and it's like perhaps before I
couldn't, but if I am present and if I'm here and if I'm still, and all of the sweat lodges
and all of the different ceremonies and all of the, and the purges and eating clearer and
detoxifying the body and practicing meditation and having clean water in my body
allowed all of those psychic abilities and literally all of the chakras to be working in their
natural form of fully activated seven energy center amplification, well, now I have access to all
kinds of things that my human programming would not allow me to even consider before that.
That's why we get pushed out of certain experiences so that we can keep growing and learning,
like your kids are doing now, okay, you learn your numbers, then you learn how to add your numbers,
then you learn how to multiply your numbers and then you learn how to do exponents.
And it's like we are stagnating and yet we have this potential to grow and expand.
And what's really exciting is that coming in and utilizing these shamanic paths allows us to access those abilities that are going to be the evolution of our species that allows us to adapt into more.
heart frequencies, less battle, less separation, more love, more unity, more cooperation,
more tribe, more grace, more forgiveness, and also sustainability, and let's build something
that is on a solid foundation that is still adaptable but in a higher frequency. That's going to
be the evolution of our species is is being able to move into those places and and it's so and i invite
during your vision quest to like really push your psychic abilities so that you can see into the future
you can see where the challenges are around the corner and you can begin adapting and preparing today
and that's that's that's how you can take care of your family with the things that you can't control
is use your sight, use your sight. And like, I didn't realize until he showed me that I could do
that. I'm like, I didn't, we've been walking for three hours and I haven't looked once behind me.
I don't know what the cloud looks like. I don't know. But I had trusted him enough to trust my own
intuition and not doubt and not argue and not block that ability from my own disbelief
and to just fully trust fall into okay there's a bee he's doing this he's this color what
what other animal is there how many ants are there how many how far are they from the ant hill
what are they doing and it's just that level of awareness is what gets home
in the sweat lodge and definitely during the vision quest or the dark room and then go out and practice
that so that we can apply it when we need it which is right now what's on the horizon what do
I need to prepare for and what is happening in my environments that I can utilize or prepare for
and it's it's exciting it's exciting to be in this place of okay with these abilities
I can not only navigate the unknown, but I can direct it, which is super, like, cool.
It's super cool.
Yeah.
You know, it doesn't mean it's not scary and uncomfortable.
That's the 3D.
But then when we shape shift into, okay, I can evolve and adapt because I have wings and I have
sight, I have feet on the ground, and I'm hyper aware of what's happening, I'm going to be
fine.
My family's going to be fine.
Yeah, I felt that. There's only been a few times where medicine journeys have brought me to see the future, you know, particular. It happened with both kids at different points, which was huge blessings in and of themselves. But I felt, you know, kind of like the Noah's Ark download from, you know, I have no like direct, Kyle or to build a farm. None of that happened. But it just, it has felt like that in doing what we're doing, hopefully not because the world's going to end, but just because that this is the right thing to do, you know, that regenerative.
is one of the ways in which we bring back harmony to an ecosystem where everything can flourish.
And, you know, I've been voting for that with my dollar for long enough.
Now it's really rad.
They can be able to have a hand in it and be able to practice it and live in a system like that.
You know, because it's something where, like I was telling you,
but we have our champion red deer is a euro mount on the wall and just like what the legacy
that guy was.
You know, I've had only a couple journeys here on the land where, like, I interacted with him.
you know we we every summer's like our winter and so one of the um one of the female red deer
had given birth and she wasn't going to make it there wasn't enough food she was too dehydrated
and you know there's ants crawling on her face and we could kind of figure out like she's real
she's hurt we don't want her getting eaten alive by cody's so we came over and we put her down
and it was me eric and jimmy were walking away and like at one of the intersections of the roads
the champion's there and he's just staring at
and right at us, big old, big old rack just connected into the cosmos.
You know, like this guy's completely tapped in, always connected, you know, above with
the horns and down on four feet to the ground.
Like he was there, just an anchor point.
And I remember locking eyes with him.
And there was a level of recognition, you know, like he knew what we were doing.
And there was a thank you for that.
There was a gratitude for that, you know, and then it was in love, not in, hey, we're going
to, you know, fucking kill this thing or oh, we're getting, now this is food, you know.
he knew the why and that was that was super powerful jimmy had an experience here which is one of the
big draws for me too where he was just begging god for water you know he's like oh god i just need it
i need it he's you know he's a military guy so he keeps making these missions up where his mind
tricks him into like army crawling to the pond drink he's going to get giardia and shit his brains out
so he's playing through all these all these scenarios and he'd realize like i'm not going to do that
but i'm super thirsty and he looks across and he sees one of the red deer drinking
from the pond and he could feel like he described like feeling his hydration gum up right wild
this is you know uh that level of connectedness because in our domestication we've created
separateness from the animals and it's just food rather than community you know and being in harmony
when we take a life with intention and to honor the cycles of life and death with respect.
That's why he's mounted, you know, in your living room.
And that's the free gift that I have is for everybody to download,
and I'm sure we'll put it in the show notes,
is a guided visualization to become a spirit animal.
Awesome.
So that is super cool.
And I loved doing that with my kids, too.
It's this guided journey that allows a spirit animal to show up for you so that it's not about
pulling a card and saying, okay, cool, owl, which is wonderful, you know, or seeing an animal
cross your path, okay, wow, you know, a raven just crossed my path or a snake, what does that
mean?
But this is different when we actually, like you were explaining, the senses of taking the water
in even though it wasn't you and to be able to move into that deer's body and experience what
they're experiencing. And I find it really powerful to shape shift into the animal and have a
tall neck or that big rack on your head to have wings, to have scales, to have fins, to have
four legs and
receive animal spirit medicine
based on what you might need at that time
to be flexible or to have sight
or to take flight.
And so I want to give that to people
as a gift so that
that way when they need,
they can go and connect with an animal spirit guide
that will change. The first time I did this
and like I know I did the guide of visualization,
You know, one of my teachers was doing this, you know, when I was training and, you know, I was with this guy next to me and, you know, the teacher's like, okay, we're going to do, you know, an animal spirit journey.
And he's like, you know, I was like, what are you going to be?
He goes, I'm going to be a bear that's standing on two feet.
Like, I'm going to be that, like, badass, just, like owning the territory, just fierce bear, grisly bear.
grizzly bear and I'm like cool yeah and he's like what are you going to be I'm like I'm going to be
a black stallion that's just fucking running across the bird just free as can be just like so fast and
just like main and tail flying in the wind and just a big dust storm behind me and like he's oh that's cool
and then you know the teacher's like now don't pick your animal and we both look at each other like
oh shit like we didn't do that that's stupid you know lame people do that and
So, and instead of picking your animal, which is what you want, that's not always the medicine
you need.
And so neither of us picked our animal.
And he ended up getting, becoming earthworm, very different than a bear is standing on
its hind feet.
He's like, as he comes out of the journey, he's like, God damn it, I couldn't tell my head
from my ass.
I was just in my head, like, in the dirt and just like, what the back?
But there was something that he got from that, that he wasn't going to get from bear.
And I got this big, huge elk that had a huge rack that was so heavy.
And this chest was so puffed up.
And he was standing in this meadow just like, I'm here.
This is my territory.
And at the time, I wanted to run away like a stallion.
It was a time in my life where I just want.
wanted to run from everything. I wanted to be the stallion, but what I needed was, like, to be that
elk that is just like, this is my territory. I'm not moving. You move. I'm staying. And, oh, I wanted
to run, but what I needed was embodiment. And, you know, so what's cool about this journey,
if you just allow the animal to show up, sometimes it'll be a manatee, you know? And the
first time I did this I got a teradactal like I wouldn't like what the hell is that like this big old
like dinosaur bird and so that'll just be some fun for people to play around with but being able to
experience animal spirit medicine it's the same kind of shape shifting to move into the peyote button
to move into the tree the mountain the ocean way
wave, the young spring, the buck, the mother, the antelope, the eagle, because those may be the
abilities to be able to shape shift and receive medicine or transform or to get wisdom or to get
an insight or a perspective that our current 3D body just doesn't access. And so that ability
to shape shift is going to be a powerful shamanic tool to use so that we can adapt in these
changing times. So that'll be fun to play around with. But I invite everybody to put the phone
away and to just be, you know, you can do a shamanic wisdom walk just by putting the phone
away, being by yourself, and to just walk in nature and pay attention to what.
happening around you and just and listen and then or sit still under a tree and just open your
field of awareness to sense is the temperature changing is it about to rain what animals are
around me what am I smelling like what is happening around me and practicing that ability
because it will come in handy in the future for sure.
Oh, I love you so much, buddy.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
It's so great having you back on.
This won't air for a while,
so people won't get a chance to see you
here in Austin from the podcast,
but do you have anything coming up at the end of the year in Sedona?
Any events on the horizon you want to invite people to?
Oh, well, there's so many things.
First of all, just Sedona is the mecca for healing,
for transformation, for spiritual connection,
for vision quests for this kind of experience so um if you are called like come to sidona come
check us out at shine sidona we'll put it in the show notes shine sidona.com and you can follow us
there's all kinds there's men's retreat there is a sound healing certification there's my 14
day immersive training where I literally opened my medicine bag of different healing tools
shamanic wisdom teachings, breathwork facilitator training that is happening in January.
There's all kinds of breathwork and sound healing and private sessions and land journeys
that are available and bookable through Shine Sedona.
I'm there and lots of amazing practitioners and facilitators.
So I'd say if you're called to come and be with the land and reach out and we'll tailor
something magical for you as an individual or couple or family or
group. If you're a leader, teacher, healer, author, and you want to facilitate there or bring
a group there, just reach out to us. And, you know, we can tailor an experience that is super
profound and powerful. I'm there just really holding that sanctuary of light in Sedona to help
with people's journeys. And so, yeah, people want to come and play and explore. Come and do it.
Yay, and download that guided visualization because that you can use for yourself, you can
play that for groups, you can definitely share that with kids.
My kids love to doing that too.
Yeah, I can't wait to try it with the kids to see what they come up with.
It's going to be fun.
I want to acknowledge you, Kyle, how you have shape-shifted and adapted.
and, you know, the rites of passage and the initiations that you've been through and come out the other side so many times evolving and growing and taking what you have experienced and make medicine out of it.
And I see it in the way you are in your relationship.
I see it in the way you speak and interact with the land.
And I see it definitely in your kids and how they know who.
who they are and how free they are to be a full range human being.
And just how supported and loved and encouraged they are to be their authentic selves
and follow their hearts.
So that doesn't happen by accident.
And so thank you for alchemizing everything that you have to pass it on and be medicine
for your kids.
And I really celebrate that for sure.
Thank you, Mom.
Yeah.
B3 Sciences is a phenomenal company.
I've had Dr. Mike to board on this podcast a handful of three times at least.
I'm going to have them back on coming out in the fall.
The reason for this is blood flow restriction has been studied for at least 20 to 30 years out in Japan.
And the science from it is remarkable.
The science from this has actually led to a lot of studying and altitude training.
What happens to our bodies when we train in an oxygen deficit?
This was a big part of the education that I got in my fight career and gave me a leg up on my competition.
Truthfully, our hormones respond dramatically.
more so when we train in an oxygen depleted environment in a very short period of time. In fact,
just 22 minutes is all it takes to boost growth hormone by four to six times the levels of a normal
workout. That is absolutely incredible. I've loved working with these. They're phenomenal way to
recover, to rebound, to lose fat, to get in shape, but they're also incredible for athletes. If you
want to build speed, power, explosiveness with endurance at the same time, this is one of the few
instruments on the planet that can actually train slow twitch and fast twitch simultaneously.
and it does so in a very acute short period of time.
I throw these on while I'm playing pick a ball.
I throw them on when I'm boxing and kickboxing
and I throw them on for various workouts
and I think they're absolutely incredible.
