Starting point is 00:00:00 Welcome to today's podcast. We have the first-time appearance of a guy named Cash Khan. Kashif Khan is the founder of the DNA company. He has worked with the Waterloo Sports Science Institute up in Toronto and done a lot of research regarding DNA epigenetics and how it pertains to human performance. He's really taken this miles further than what 23 and me was doing back in the day and Ancestry.com, anything. I mean, if you've done genetics here, side. Odds are the FDA has put a muzzle on anything that they could tell you of value. And it really doesn't tell you a whole lot. It doesn't matter how much new shit comes out. You got 40 pages to sift through. I've taken that, you know, with those reports in the past and
Starting point is 00:00:46 then have them siphon through Dr. Rhonda Patrick's work. And, you know, even that is still a melee of information. What's valuable, what's not. DNA company looks at things far differently. and Cash has sold that company. He retains a part ownership, but he's now focused on teaching people how to analyze this stuff and what it actually means. And they're not just looking at DNA snippets. They're actually looking at the order, you know, the pattern. What does this actually look like? Whereas I think in the past we might have looked at, you know, the thread count and the colors of the threads in a quilt.
Starting point is 00:01:19 Now we're actually seeing the pattern of the quilt. And much of that tells its own story. Well, welcome to the podcast, man, man. I'm stoked to have you, Adam hit me up, our dear buddy, one of my business partners and dear friends. And he was telling me about, I think he sent me one of the podcasts you did with Luke's story, he was also a close friend. And I was like, this is fucking awesome. I just love seeing the evolution of things. You know, DNA was something that I had paid a lot of attention to. And then, you know, it kind of fell off when they said the human genome projects had been mapped, but they couldn't really use it for much. you know and then big pharma just bought all that up and then uh 23 and me came along you know
Starting point is 00:03:56 i'm from the silicon valley born and raised and originally they could tell people some important stuff like hey you know you're four or five times more likely to get this type of uh blood cancer and you know FDA comes in and tells you no they can't say any of that you can't even help people in that way and that was just the tip of the iceberg they weren't actually giving people the information that you give which is how to rectify the issue before it happens right so i think there's so much there that kind of went awry. Dr. Ronna Patrick was one of the first people to run, you know, simple stuff. She'd take your raw data and for like an extra $10 or $20 donation.
Starting point is 00:04:32 She'd kind of map out this report. Originally was 10 pages. It's now like 50 pages, most of which doesn't matter. But there's a, you know, there's a few things that spark interest. But you kind of have to know what you're looking at to even see. And, you know, when I started listening to you, one of the things that you, because you designed your own product, and I want to talk about this product. in detail, but you started looking about how things work together, not just these individual
Starting point is 00:04:56 snippets. And I think that's a really, it's a much more holistic approach to understanding DNA and epigenetics and what we can do about it. So I'm super excited to deep dive DNA with you. But first, tell me about what was life like growing up. You're Canadian. Tell me all the things. You know, like you tell me, I love that Adam took it there with you on COVID too. Like, I want to know all this stuff. This is great. Yeah, I grew up on the West Coast in Vancouver. and I now live in Toronto, and it's kind of like a minor version of the culture shock between LA and New York, right? And so very much grew up outside on my bicycle, you know, outdoors all the time. Then I moved to the city where there's winters and everything is structured
Starting point is 00:05:36 and planned and scheduled indoors, very different lifestyle, right? But yeah, I didn't ever think that this is where I would be. I grew up in an extremely impoverished family. My father was sick while I was growing up, I never saw him in good health. He didn't work. My mom was also sick. I never saw her in good health. My sister grew up with a learning disability, so she was kind of like,
Starting point is 00:06:00 even though my older sister, my younger sister. And so illness was around me. And I used to go with my dad to like traditional Chinese herbalists and natural paths. And he was always trying to discover some path to health and wellness because he was just sick of being sick. And then things would work and then they wouldn't work. And I saw it. And it wasn't until that it happened to me that I got sick in my late 30s that I was like, whoa, I'm following the same path.
Starting point is 00:06:28 And I just heard the same story from the doctor that here's the pill. Good luck. And I need to go pick up the torch that my dad left off and never finished and complete the job. And that's kind of what I did. That's awesome. I mean, I think the birth, I keep telling my son who wants to invent things and create things and be an entrepreneur that like the best invention. are always created out of necessity. You know, it's why we dial things in.
Starting point is 00:06:52 Even like, you know, Ballers is not some high-tech invention, but the supplement company had developed with Adam was birthed out of necessity. You know, him and his wife, Tracy, are in the kitchen. They've got nine different bottles of supplements. They're trying to make sure that their kids have everything they need from a vitamin mineral standpoint, everything they can do to recover better and be the best athlete, be the best academically, and reach their full potential, you know, and they got sick of it. You know, and there's a lot.
Starting point is 00:07:14 Some parents just don't even have that skill set, but want those things. for their kids. So when you approached me with the idea of formulating for ballers, I was like, absolutely, man. My son's 11. You know, it's not going to be long before we're tinkering with stuff and adding different things to his program as well. So that's so cool. Tell us what you created because you created this company. Tell us about the company and then you stepped away. You still have, you know, ownership shares and things like that. And now you're focusing more on the coaching side. But please break this down for us because I think this is, this is really cool. Yeah. So I was sick. That's where things started. No intention of ever
Starting point is 00:07:46 being this industry. I used to run a consulting firm for technology startups. So, you know, similar to your Silicon Valley background, Toronto is kind of like a Silicon Valley North. We have a school here called Waterloo where a lot of engineers graduate from and Google and Apple, all them have offices right there right next to the school and they hire the entire graduating class, right? So there's a lot of tech innovation that happens here, ends up going down south after. And my business was helping them, like with everything that they didn't know and helping them grow. We had a lot of success. We had companies that got sold to major companies in the U.S.
Starting point is 00:08:19 You would recognize the transactions. And then I got sick and I didn't know why because I didn't think that I had done anything wrong. I was living this pretty decent lifestyle, eating what I thought was a clean Mediterranean diet. I got eczema, psoriasis, gut issues, migraines, depression, reflux. It's like my body was falling apart all of a sudden. And when I looked at my business partner, I started to believe the doctors that I had these things because we lived a parallel life. We were the same age, same ethnicity. We lived on the same street.
Starting point is 00:08:53 We drove to work together every day. We ate lunch together every day. We ate lunch together every day because we worked long hours. We drove home together. You know, other than the weekend, we lived the same life. So if I was doing something wrong, why wasn't he sick? Right. That's when I started poking my nose into genetics.
Starting point is 00:09:09 then maybe there's something different about me. And my eyes were open when I discovered a gene called GSTM1, and by the way, you have the same issue. So GSC, yes, exactly. This gene drives glutathione activity in the gut. So glutathione, we know it as master antioxidant, neutralizes toxins, helps you remove them, supports the kidney and liver. What we don't know is that there are various genes that encode
Starting point is 00:09:36 how your body uses glutathione for different purposes. So you might breathe toxic air that has mold or chemicals. There's a separate gene called GSTP1 that triggers defense in the lungs. You may put on a cosmetic and put some toxins straight through your skin into your bloodstream. There's a gene called GSTT1 that's sort of scouring your bloodstream looking for things to remove. Then there's a gene called GSTM1 that's a first line of defense of your gut. Now, what's not spoken of in those other commercial genetic tests that you were talking about is what's called a copy number variation, meaning that you might be missing a gene.
Starting point is 00:10:10 Forget about the version or the variant or the mutation that we hear about. This gene doesn't exist in my genetic code. So imagine you're reading a book and there's like a paragraph missing. How do you read that book? And now imagine that paragraph is exactly the key instructions for how to defend the gut from every toxin that comes along with what you consume. And that gene doesn't exist, which means you literally just don't do that job. A gene is an instruction.
Starting point is 00:10:35 It tells your body how to do jobs. you and me both don't have that gene, which means when we eat and what was making me so sick, I didn't know in Canada where I lived that there's laws around certain chemicals that are allowed to be used on grains so that we can store them during our long winters. And then there's other chemicals used to reconstitute the food
Starting point is 00:10:56 so that they're now edible and consumable, right? Both of those chemicals, the FDA and Health Canada will say are safe because if you do a large population-based study, you'll find that they're likely safe. But if you and me take them, our guts get destroyed because we don't have the defense, which leads to gut wall permeability, leaky gut, eventually leaky brain, which is the depression, eventually inflammation, which is the eczema. Eventually your immune system gets confused and you get autoimmune conditions like psoriasis and the list keeps going. And then where all these specific concerns were treated as separate concerns and I was taught to believe they're all separate, they're all rooted in the same central issue. right and so that was one i discovered many things about myself but that was the first thing i discovered
Starting point is 00:11:37 so to answer your question i then got so enthusiastic about this and i spent my whole career helping other technology companies grow i said i found my purpose i got to grow this and i started working on my mom and my family and my friends and getting people off a cholesterol medication and taking diabetic friends and getting them off insulin and taking a friend who had als and getting them walking again. And it's like, am I curing this stuff or am I just discovering what's causing it instead of trying to treat it? That turned into me funding a genetic research company, which is now, I would say, the largest functional genomic research company globally and also building what's called the DNA University, which teaches functional genomics to the same doctors and scientists that I
Starting point is 00:12:20 couldn't get an answer from now come to my school to get certified and trained in what I discovered. That's incredible. And it's called the DNA company. Is that right? Yes, that's the company that I built, which like you said, I don't run anymore. I built it to the point where, you know, deep into the biohacking world, deep into the functional medicine world. And I said, this needs to really get into the healthcare industry to affect more people. So I merged it with a telemedicine company. And they took over. Like you said, I kept my shares.
Starting point is 00:12:46 I said, you guys grow this thing and do whatever you can. I built what I built. But I use the technology in my own practice now. So now I build a functional medicine company called Signal Health, which to me, you know, there's pharmaceutical. medicine, which is chemical based. Then there's natural medicine, which is supplements, which is way better, because now you're dealing with the root cause. Then there's biology sort of manipulation, which is disease prevention, which is signals, hormones, DNA, peptides. These are signals in the body that tell your biology what to do. So what if you just turn up and down the volume on those
Starting point is 00:13:19 signals? So my whole thesis is that, and I'm building a whole company around signal health from hormones to DNA to epigenetics to to gut microbiome to all of the signals that your body responds to which is where symptoms come from. I love it. That's fantastic. Tell me, you know, something I really appreciated that Adam took, you know, too,
Starting point is 00:13:39 because one of the questions, obviously, we're going to deep dive DNA and a lot of things that are related to it. Health and wellness, you know, and peptides I certainly want to get in on because I have some very, some questions popped into my mind with Adam in particular. But I'll save those.
Starting point is 00:13:53 Actually, we'll just just job. down this so I got notes. All right. But, you know, I've had many great guys that have exposed the lives around COVID on this podcast, Dr. Peter McCola, Dr. Brian Artis, honestly, too many to list, you know, alongside guys like Del Bigtree, Mickey Willis, who did the pandemic documentary series. And so, you know, I've kind of seen really the full scope of the fuckery behind the scenes. It was something that as a health and wellness professional, you know, while it was going on, I was like, why isn't anyone talking about sunlight? Why isn't anybody talking about, you know, increasing zinc and D3?
Starting point is 00:14:28 Why isn't anybody talking about just standard shit we all know? Like, if we know we're going to get a cold from something, what are we doing here? Were you upping vitamin C? Like, what are we doing to kind of prevent this or make it easier? And the fact that that was not a part of the conversation was also another red flag. But once it became clear that all signs were driving us towards this one direction of this new experimental product, that raised a ton of red flags in my mind. and being a podcaster was able to find great people,
Starting point is 00:14:55 and Rogan obviously put many of these people on an international stage. Now that we're six years past this, what are some of the repercussions that you've seen from people who have taken this new experimental technology? Yeah, I don't think we're past it. We're in it, and we haven't seen any evidence of anything being over, and I think we're just being distracted. As soon as the crime was committed, it's like move on to other stuff, like Israel, Palestine, politics, but just distract us, right?
Starting point is 00:15:28 The next big distraction. And so, and then give us Maha to make us feel like we got something back, which, yeah, there's great work being done. But it's just a distraction from like, why isn't anyone trying to solve the problem that was caused? So I still have clients that will fly on a plane and a menopausal woman will get a period because she got shed on. And genetically, so I can tell you based on your DNA, how sick you're going to get. I can tell you based on your DNA, whether you're going to be symptomatic or you're going to be in a hospital, whether the vaccine is going to be something you recover from, what injury might get. So the genes of what, the biology of it all is obvious. Now, I would say 40% of the work that I do today, can keep mind, there's the work that I do as an individual, which is like I work on pro athletes and celebrities and things like that, right?
Starting point is 00:16:13 That's the order that my team does, which is just whoever needs support comes through our clinic. and I would guess that I have the largest functional medicine practice in the country. I'm pretty sure of that. I never checked, but we have hundreds of new clients a week that are coming to us that I don't think anybody else is doing that. So 40% of those people that come to us today, I can't get pregnant. I have cardiovascular issues. I have brain fog. I have chronic fatigue.
Starting point is 00:16:43 I can't go to work. We end up telling them, no, what you have is called vaccine injury. A good 40% of what we're working on today. Different pathology, different symptoms of the same central root, which is exactly what I said about me. Broken gut led to everything. Vaccine injury leads to everything. Who's going to get what?
Starting point is 00:17:00 Depends on the genetics of your hardware. If I have your DNA, I can tell you, which tissue is the most sensitive? Is your cardiovascular tissue, your liver, or kidney? We're not all wired equally. Right? So now we had to work on two sides of it, stopping the proliferation of this spike protein,
Starting point is 00:17:16 stopping the proliferation of the virus itself, removing the junk from inside the body, and then rebuilding the body, and getting them back to what they used to be prior to the injury. I believe that the work that I did expose the truth very early on. So right when things hit,
Starting point is 00:17:34 we were shut down just like everybody else, and I didn't fire everybody, I didn't shut the, I just told the team, let's just pivot, let's volunteer and solve this problem. Nobody knew in the beginning what was going on, right? Just like I believe, yeah, there's a virus. that's killing everybody. So I went and did the work to figure this out.
Starting point is 00:17:50 And we started studying the genetics of the various pathways. And very, very early on, I determined the actual ACE receptor gene that allows COVID to dock into your cell and deposit its RNA and make you sick. We could just block that gene with nicotine. We could block whether that. That was known very early on. Nobody wanted to talk about it.
Starting point is 00:18:07 So several times I knocked on Health Canada's door saying, I have an answer. And they're like, wow, this is incredible. Canadian solution that's going to change the world. Goes to decision makers, disappears. There's this $2 million grant they were giving for research and that some entity said, we want to give you. And then when it got to decision makers, they're like, no, this is not a good idea, which was me preventing the disease, that $2 million went to a company that made an app for contract tracing to make sure you stay six feet apart.
Starting point is 00:18:35 Then IBM comes along, said, we heard about this technology you guys have. We have an AI platform called Watson before anyone was talking about AI. they already had an AI healthcare database about Watson. And they said, why don't we partner and build a tool that accesses more people? So there's genetics. Your genotype are the versions of the genes you have. Then there's your phenotype, which is how do those physically manifest? What do you look like?
Starting point is 00:19:00 What color your eyes? That's your phenotype, right? So I can reverse engineer your phenotype. I can look at you, study your behavior, and predict what your genes are because we know what they equal. So I said, we can just simply ask people a questionnaire, an assessment, assume their genes with a fairly good level of accuracy and tell them exactly what to do to prevent a bad outcome if they were to get the virus.
Starting point is 00:19:22 And IBM, similarly, I don't know where this number came from, but they also issued us a $2 million. That number seemed to be the magic number. I don't know why. And they said, we're going to invest $2 million in a company. We're going to build this thing. Once again, and this is a local New York office, a lead person on the Watson team.
Starting point is 00:19:38 Then it goes back to decision makers at some central office and they shut it down. We had a solution. We had a real solution that could have solved a lot of problems. They didn't want the solution, which tells you there's already a decision made that we haven't even heard of, and then you find the decision. And I started to see this stuff. The day that I truly believed that it was all nonsense and that we were being played
Starting point is 00:20:02 was the day that I started talking about Ivermectin and helping people get it. And then a good friend of mine who is quite liberal in his views, said, to me, Ivermectin, that's a horse dewormer. Why would you do that? And I was like, why are you saying that?
Starting point is 00:20:18 You came to me for advice, that gave me the advice. He said, didn't you see the news? Every single news station, everywhere was saying the exact same thing. Lunatics taking horse rumors, lunatics taking horse de rumors,
Starting point is 00:20:29 not even acknowledging that it's won a Nobel Prize for the work that it's done, that it was millions of doses were distributed in Africa to kill parasites and help people voluntarily to support, because that was the only way to solve the problem, the parasitic problem. All of that was the only way.
Starting point is 00:20:43 ignored. So all these reporters are being spoon-fed 1% of the story that became the 100% truth, which is literally what narcissism is, right? And that when I saw that, that's when I completely shifted gears, started speaking on social media outspoken and really doubled down on trying to help people. Yeah, fuck yeah. Well, I like that. I don't always agree with Jack Cruz, but when he says, where were you in 2020? I appreciate that questioning because, you know, you can tell a lot about people if they uh i mean some people didn't know like there's no question i know some of my listeners didn't know i've got friends you know that didn't know and that and that's okay but for those that that did know don't stay quiet you know like that was that was that was the
Starting point is 00:21:23 thing i was i'm good buddies with jp sears and i was like man you know like your whole livelihood is is your content it's it's that you're you know you sell out comedy shows because of the stuff that you post weren't you worried about that and you know i lost a lot of followers but i gained a lot of people that wanted to know the truth. And that's the resident thing. You know, like that is a part of our purpose here in the awakening process, I think. So,
Starting point is 00:21:45 anyhow, I like that a lot. And so, you know, for quick fixes for people, if you're just tuning in and you're like, oh, shit, did I make a mistake?
Starting point is 00:21:52 Natokane. What are some of the other go-toes that you'd find? Because what I love is like, you know, like Brian artist's company is like nature, wins.com, right? And it's just like,
Starting point is 00:22:01 yes, nature wins, dude. Like from a spiritual standpoint, like the God has already given us everything we need to conquer these things, including our own mess-ups. So, uh, tell us, break us down, like, how you'd have people detox in a, in a post-Jab era. Definitely the, the natokanez, for sure. You just have to be careful that just like any other
Starting point is 00:22:21 industry, you know, this stuff, uh, there's a lot of fake stuff out there. So the Japanese government did a really good job of creating a certification body. And you can buy what's called NSKSD certified nanokanase. And then you're, then you're sort of given certainty that it's the the right stuff, right? 100% the bromoline. If you combine that with some serapeptase, it amplifies all of it. If you combine that with some curcumin and NAC,
Starting point is 00:22:49 it amplifies all of it. And that's really it. That's the formula. It's simple, accessible stuff. And that's all you need. And it will clean you up. There's people that are having more acute issues where we'll send them for like a phrenesis,
Starting point is 00:23:02 like an isphrenesis or some kind of blood filtration, right? which does definitely help people get out of a jam. We find that the Igbo also helps with blood oxygen and breakdown of the clots, the blood clotting. So if you're doing all this, these four or five supplements mentioned, Ibu, even one or two treatments, you can be in a much better place pretty quickly. Very cool. I appreciate that. I don't, you know, I've done a, I've listened to enough people in the Dumer crowd.
Starting point is 00:23:29 And it's like, I'm waiting for the punchline. I'm constantly waiting for like that because there is, I don't. believe that that's all going to go to shit. There are power structures in place that want it to control a certain way and that would make it go to shit in my mind. But the more we know, the better. And so I feel like, you know, getting people the truth, but also giving them real world practical steps to get better is super important when you talk about stuff like that. Let's talk about, you know, one of the issues with modern medicine, and again, I hate that I have to qualify this because, you know, surgery and emergency medicine is awesome, right? But it's like set that aside,
Starting point is 00:24:04 but allopathic medicine is not preventative medicine. It is just treating symptoms. It's not, it's not, and poorly, by the way. But talk a bit about how understanding genetics can really work to personalize medicine. And then I want to take that and talk peptides as well as plant medicines and psychedelics, because I know that even though you're inexperienced with plant medicines, you know, you had a great conversation with Adam about this and how, you know, our own DNA can facilitate whether this is a yes or a no for many people, right?
Starting point is 00:24:31 Yeah, I don't think there's any decision you can make that doesn't have the ability to be processed genetically, meaning you can take a peek under the hood, look at your biology, and then understand how to make a decision. So, you know, we were talking about glutathione, for example. Some people take a glutathione supplement regularly. Some people go take a IV bag. You know, the daily recommended doses aren't a big deal. It's when people go to the extremes that you have to understand your genetics first. So for example, the GSTT1 gene, you know, I had a lady that I was dealing with in Hawaii who was in menopause and she wanted to take hormone replacement therapy because she had brain fog and chronic fatigue. And her doctor said take some hormones.
Starting point is 00:25:14 And she came to me saying that I've heard you talk on a podcast about taking the wrong hormones can hurt you. Can you please check this stuff? So when I checked, I said, I don't think you need hormones. When I looked at your list of all the supplements you told me you're taking all what you're doing, you're taking glutathione regularly. She said, yeah, because there's a lot of mold in Hawaii. I said, I get it.
Starting point is 00:25:30 but you don't have the GSTT1 gene, which means when you add the glutathione gene, a glutathione to your body, there's no genetic instruction of what to do with it. And so not only does it bind the toxins is what you're trying to do, it's also binding the minerals and nutrients and vitamins that you want to hold on to.
Starting point is 00:25:49 And you're ending up in a state of fatigue and brain fog and literally just malnourished. So all I did was swap her out for precursors like milk this, milk thistle, NAC and glycine, and four days, later. She was six months of brain fogging chronic fatigue, which she thought were menopause symptoms, and her doctor agreed were menopause symptoms. And it was just overdosing on glutathione. Now, that's true for everybody, which is why genetics will answer the question.
Starting point is 00:26:13 There's a debate right now. Does NAD cause cancer? Literally, that debate exists today, right? And whenever you have a debate where one side says this is the best thing you could do, and the other side says, this is horrible, it will hurt you, they're probably both correct. And they were looking at different genetic profiles. That's where the challenges, right? And then this science never gets personalized, and so the argument never ends. Just like the, you know,
Starting point is 00:26:40 RF Kennedy just remove the black box warnings for hormones for women. It used to be a black box warning. Be careful. If you take hormones, could cause breast cancer, could cause, you know, heart attack and stroke. And now all of a sudden,
Starting point is 00:26:53 this is safe. Let's remove the warning. You can't jump from here to here. In the middle, there's bio-individuality. Both answers are true. So if I take the NAD answer, for example, there's a gene pathway called Foxo3, which drives cellular regeneration. As we're sitting here, there's cells that are becoming senescent, zobbing cells that are
Starting point is 00:27:13 dying off, and they're getting replaced with healthy new cells. Foxo3 kind of drives that process. If you have a bad version of the Foxo3 gene and you don't do a good job of cellular regeneration and you take something like NAD, it's going to feel incredible. You know, that cellular health support that cellular energy give that job a bit of a boost. Now, if you have a good version of the FOXO3 gene, and you're doing this at an accelerated superhuman pace that it wasn't even needed, and you're just genetically aging slower because of a gene pathway, then you add the horsepower of NAD that you didn't even need. What is the byproduct of excess NAD in your body is glutamine and glutamate?
Starting point is 00:27:52 And if you look at early stage cancer, what fuels it is sugar and glutamine. Sugar, glucose is a, there's 50 times the sugar receptors on a cancer cell, then there's a regular cell, so it loves a eating sugar, but it also lives up of glutamine, glutamate. So who was correct? They were both correct. It depended on the gene. And now I'm not saying, watch out any causes cancer. I'm just saying the person that decides to go once a week to the IB clinic and get a 500 milligram dose and like really overdo it, watch out. Right?
Starting point is 00:28:23 Regular daily, you know, reconstituting a, you know, 500 milligram bile and taking a shot every day. that's not going to do it, right? So we're talking on the extremes, but there's many people that are practicing the extremes. All right. Now I have to ask and jump ahead here before we get back. I want to circle back on peptides and psychedelics just from the personalized standpoint.
Starting point is 00:30:29 But I love how you're framing this. In my genetics, is NAD a good thing or a bad thing? Because I fucking have taken a whopper of that, like eight-day straight IV, you know, multiple times. I famously set the record here in Austin at like two minutes for a 750 milligram. Wow. So, you know, what I figured out was that if I did the holotropic breathwork, you know, Wimhoff style breathing, that the pain, if you experienced, no pain or discomfort. So I would just start huffing.
Starting point is 00:30:56 And I don't know, maybe you could understand, you know, the biology behind that, you know, with either changing blood alkaline into more alkaline or, you know, hyper oxygenating, dumping off the CO2. But like that became like my little hack. And yeah, I mean, I was racing just to see it, which is probably not best for absorption either. But, you know, pissing contests will rear their head every now and again in a young man's life. So anyways, you know, that was probably seven, eight years ago. but there was a time where like I was I was guinea pig in the hell at NAD. Now, you know, I just get in the sauna and, you know, I fast twice a year. You know, I think those are some of the ways that I go about trying to get that out.
Starting point is 00:31:37 So that's the interesting thing here is you are that person that would highly benefit from any AD, right? From the high dose, from the support that it would offer you as a regular ongoing concern as a supplement. You are that person that would not only not get injured, but would really feel how good it is. Cool. Yeah. That makes sense then. Cool. Well, all right, my intuition isn't off then.
Starting point is 00:31:58 And it's just one of those things. I remember talking with Dr. Peter Attia who was like, well, you know, cell. We don't even know that injecting this is going to do anything because of the size of the molecule versus the size of the cell. This kind of stuff like a fair argument. You know, like I understand eating iron from spinach and certain plants is not going to be the same as getting hemiron from liver or oysters, right? It's just not the same bioavailability. I understand that. at the same time, I really felt like I was getting a boost in cognitive function, like I was
Starting point is 00:32:26 recovering faster and just felt younger, you know, from doing it. So, but I love the nuanced approach to the conversation that what's right for me isn't right for somebody else and it's worth looking into, right? So same thing. Let's let's discuss this with psychedelics. You know, I've been, I've been a guy who has loved deep, deep dose journeys for a long time. It was very hard for me. And we'll dive into this more with like my, my, you, you can understand a lot of how our minds work, right? Just from looking at the DNA. And so I was listening to like the AI podcast that gets generated on my mind.
Starting point is 00:32:58 And I was like, fuck, dude, this is so revealing and spot on. I was just, I was blown away by it. But when I first got into plant medicines, in particular with ayahuasca, I always wanted a higher dose because I didn't like, you know, the in between space of like, hey, I'm still here. I don't know if it's just my ego I'm talking to or have I broken through. You know, and psilocybin became a vehicle for me that was phenomenal because I take five, seven grams and up. And it was just buckle up and lay back. All I can do is surrender now.
Starting point is 00:33:27 But I'm going to get to the spiritual place that I'm trying to go to. I'm going to get the answers that I'm looking for. And I'm going to have the downloads and the resonance that I'm looking for. I mean, for a long time, that was my method of making community with God. And then somewhere along the way, Ayahuasca kept telling me to do yoga and to meditate. And finally, I ended up with the right teachers. And now meditation is my main practice. I may do a large, journey, you know, with Paul Check or something like that once every year or two. Vision Quest later this year, you know, no food, no water. That's pretty visionary when I enter into that state too.
Starting point is 00:34:00 But I have ways of making my communion more of a daily practice and staying connected, you know, staying and connected in my own mind. But for a lot of people, you know, when I first got into psychedelics, I was like, man, why is it that all these old farts keep saying it's not for everyone? Because when you have a breakthrough experience, the first thing you want to do is just beat a fucking drum from the top of the mountain and say like, holy shit, this is magic. No wonder they've kept it under the rug. Like, dude, this is the whole thing. And whether that's hydro psilocybin or ayahuasca or Iboga, they're all special. And, you know, being a coach in the space
Starting point is 00:34:34 of optimization for whatever, life coach, whatever the hell you want to call that for the last seven, eight years, I have seen people really steer off off course, you know, even from cannabis alone, high-dose cannabis. And it's fucking scary and jarring. And it's fucking scary and jar. And I've had long conversations with people trying to steer them back towards reality or at least, you know, some semblance of sanity. And when they're, when that's unachievable, nothing's scarier. It's just like, fuck, dude. Like, like that to me is like the ultimate caution. So now I understand the old timer saying, you know, it's not for everyone.
Starting point is 00:35:09 And, um, and now I sound like an old timer with a white beard telling it's not for everybody. But, but I think the genetics piece is a really important, an important part of the conversation. I had a journey, for the record, you know, like a lot of people who listen to this podcast know that I've had a 30 gram penis envy journey, which is penis envy is a very high dose for my psilocybin. It's maybe two or three X stronger than Golden Teacher. And that didn't come really nilly. That came from a great teacher named Kalindi Ai, who's, you know, dead now, but a lot of his content's still up on YouTube. And I was talking to East Forest, who's an incredible friend and musician. He did the Music for Mushrooms album that's on Spotify. It's an awesome
Starting point is 00:35:47 playlist to listen to as something to hold you through the journey. And I was telling about a buddy who kind of lost his shit on like one gram. And he's like, listen, everyone's neurochemistry is different. Everyone's microbiome's different. And now, you know, in this conversation point, everyone's DNA is for sure different, right? So I'd love to know, you know, kind of your take on this. You haven't had the big journey yourself, but you said you're interested. And obviously there's people you recommend this stuff to when it's appropriate genetically.
Starting point is 00:36:14 Talk a little bit about that. So there is something very interesting going on in your neurochemistry, which might explain this. So who benefits is people that are dealing with trauma, anxiety, people that are conflicted and had a toxic relationship, for example. So ongoing loss of control, ongoing stress, essentially being stuck in fight or flight. That's what's really going to feel good. and somebody who is content or has genetics around protection. So some people are wired to remember and feel. Some people are wired to bury and forget.
Starting point is 00:36:57 Now that person that buried and forgot where it comes back to the forefront, that's overwhelming. Right. So the way you're wired, when somebody goes into a context that is trauma-inducing, the stimulus that is exaggerated. So, you know, fight, yelling, whatever is happening. That's an adrenaline rush. And there's a gene called Adder2B to B that regulates your adrenaline and how much is surging and how efficiently you sort of recycle it and get rid of it.
Starting point is 00:37:26 So when I look at your Adir2B genetics, it's not so efficient, which means both the moment is more intense, which gives you sort of superpower. So adrenaline makes you bigger, stronger, faster during that emergencies. You're capable of more. become superhuman temporarily, right? So you would become that superhuman that is, first of all, seeking the adrenaline rush, that is the first in line to do something about whatever is going on, but also experiencing it at a heightened level, right?
Starting point is 00:37:53 So the experience is more intense. Adrenaline does a second thing. Because that moment is so impactful, your body doesn't know what's happening. It just knows what intensity level you're feeling. And so it thinks that this is potentially a threat on your life, which is why it gives you the adrenaline, to be able to run faster, lift more, right? So it wants to remember everything you're experiencing.
Starting point is 00:38:14 So adrenaline also encodes memory around impactful stimulus, which is much easier to access than like long-term memories and things. It's almost like you rebound right back into the state to protect you. So because your adrenaline genetics are dysregulated, not only are you imprinting the intellectual information, you also somewhat overwhelmingly are imprinting the emotional information, far more than other people do. So when you recall, when you're tricking,
Starting point is 00:38:38 with a memory, you're feeling as if it's happening again. It's like a continuation, holding the grudge, which essentially could be trauma, but depending on the context, could look like emotional intelligence. It could look like empathy. So the intention was that. It was wisdom, emotional intelligence, leadership. But with the wrong context, the wrong problems, it equals trauma, right? So that's one layer.
Starting point is 00:39:01 The other layer is this. Once you're done with the adrenaline moment, the adrenaline needs to be turned off. and you go back to your normal baseline behavior. Not everything needs to be remembered, right? So the protein that eliminates the adrenaline is called comps, C-O-M-T, which also eliminates dopamine and does other things. So your comp genetics are ultra-rapid, super fast, which means that you're not in the moment for long enough.
Starting point is 00:39:26 So when that moment of, I should say, trauma happens, there's a bit of a I feel it holding on to it I remember it but if I do the work I can let it go other people can't
Starting point is 00:39:45 there's baggage there's weight right there's meaning that part you don't have right the outcome of the journey is it's far more effective first of all there's a bigger reason
Starting point is 00:39:57 to do it right there's you feel it you remember it and your body may be stuck in a fight or flight state so you're going to seek it and is easy to release. So the outcome is bigger.
Starting point is 00:40:06 Some people can't release the same. There's another gene called BDNF that drives neuroplasticity, which you're doing well with, which equals how effectively do you develop new neurons to process new experiences and new information when it's a meaningful stuff. You're doing a good job there. Some people don't do a good job there. And so there's also a bit of a shell shock, which gives that thing more weight. Now, that person also might say the journey didn't help me as much.
Starting point is 00:40:32 They actually need it more. They need it more, but they might need more of it. They need to do it two, three, four, five, six times, right? Higher dose eventually building up because they need more work. So I don't think it's a question of does this stuff work, yes or no, it works. The personalization around dosing and protocol and frequency, that's what DNA will tell you. And that's where the confusion also lies. It's like, I don't know how much or how often.
Starting point is 00:40:58 So that, the DNA can really lay out for you, someone of a protocol. Let's just say that, right? Yeah, yeah, beautifully stated. You know, the world online is kind of comical, you know, in that there's, there, you know, I was all for Bobby Kennedy getting in. We did a fundraiser for hearing at the farm. I'm close friends with Aubrey Marcus. I actually put, you know, the book, the real Anthony Fauci right on his desk when it came out.
Starting point is 00:41:22 I was like, read this now. Like, this is going to open your eyes. And had been a fan of Bobby's work for years. Also, you know, like thanks to people like Bobby and Del Bigger, treated, didn't vaccinate my kids or anything like that. So again, like, looking at that one thing as the solution was like not an option. I think there was a big push from like people that really care about themselves holistically and have taken on their own education of what health and wellness means.
Starting point is 00:41:49 And a lot of that was, you know, a part of what built the Maha movement, even though it is in large part, I think, in dismay. Looking online now, it's funny because he's got, you know, people that are like, Huberman said this, Huberman said that. and I've had Huberman on a couple times. You know, and there's people that are like, if Huberman says it, don't do it. You know, that are just going against the grain of like, he's too mainstream. What do you say?
Starting point is 00:42:10 You know, if Dr. Rundapatrick said it, throw it out the window. If Rogan said it, throw it out the window, controlled opposition type thinking. And people are picking sides just for the sake of ClickBake. You know, I mean, this comes up on creatine again. And it's just like, I've been on and off creatine for 31 fucking years. I feel fantastic when I use it. Maybe it isn't for everybody due to the DNA, but like, it's just funny because people are all over the board on it now. And people are all over the board on peptides as well.
Starting point is 00:42:38 Like I think the nuance of that, obviously, you know, that genetics are a huge part of this. But I want to get your take on that. I love to you to talk about with Adam with it because, you know, I don't give my kids anything other than whole food, whole food, supplements and things like that. There will come a time as athletes, though, where they're presented with that. I tore my calf for the first time of my life. and immediately went on a regenerative stack, like Wolverine stack with BPC 157. I've taken it on and off in the past.
Starting point is 00:43:05 I've taken it for an extended period before to see if it was prevented and it wasn't. So I just don't think they're necessary. I don't want to be a pin cushion, just slamming 20 pins into my stomach each night before bed. And it is an inconvenience, right? It's an added step on my nighttime routine. But that said, like, you know,
Starting point is 00:43:21 the science on BBC 157 is pretty clear. Like, it heals things quicker. And I don't think there's many known side effects at all from it. So I'd love your take on peptides. And are there certain groups of people that should avoid them entirely? Or are these things that people can benefit from if and when use correctly? So I definitely recommend peptides to a lot of our clients and patients. We're very specific on protocoling.
Starting point is 00:43:45 We're very specific on usage. And yes, many of them have, I shouldn't say many of them. Some of them have side effects that aren't spoken up. So for example, BPC 157 that you just mentioned, I use it. I had an injury in my forearm, which didn't go away for four months, and I used BPC and TB 500 for four days and the pain went away. Right? That's miraculous.
Starting point is 00:44:08 So what would have been? Surgery, maybe? What's the other alternative, right? So four days, and I used it for, you know, eight weeks just to make sure I got to the finish end of the. And then I noticed another thing that was my back was also gone that I wasn't even trying to fix. I forgot like it was even there, right? And I also noticed that I was getting better outcome from the gym. which was not an intention.
Starting point is 00:44:29 So at the same time, BPC 157 influences the gene pathway that leads to angiogenesis and potentially fuels cancer cell growth. Right? Now, does that matter? Is it going to cause cancer? If you have an active cancer, you probably don't want to take it. But if you don't have an active cancer, doesn't really matter. And this is where things get lost.
Starting point is 00:44:52 Somebody's going to hear that sound bite and start posting BPC causes cancer. PPC causes cancer, and they're going to give the fact, and the fact is true. The gene you can look it up, it's going to be true, it's all going to be true. But the context is important, right? And this is where the clickbait and the sound bites really kill our access to knowledge because it's all about being sensational to get views. Right. So if you hear anything, what's usually missing when there's confusion is either bioindividuality,
Starting point is 00:45:20 who are we talking about, or context? Like what was that state? What state was that person in? right so I take it and I'm not worried about cancer but I would never tell a cancer patient to take it same thing like you know test morellin human growth hormone I would never tell a cancer patient to take that but I've taken it myself and I don't have cancer right so I think when it comes to them because they work so well people it's very sticky people keep going and then they end up doing too much. So you have to understand that these are signals that already exist in your body.
Starting point is 00:45:57 Hepides are, you know, you can, human will tell you the science. It's an amino acid, da, da, da, da, da, nobody knows what that means. What it is is a signal, right? It tells your body to go do something. Go burn fat, go build bone, go repair tissue. That's what it is. Who cares the structure, right? So if you know it's a signal that already exists, what happens if you keep a signal a lot on high volume for a long time? Can't there be downstream effects or upstream effects because what about all the other signals that didn't get adjusted? When the body is supposed to be not a single instrument, it's a symphony, that's homeostatic, that's all balanced.
Starting point is 00:46:30 And if one instrument is out in terms of volume level, how does that drown out everything else? So all I would say is amazing tools, everybody should use them, everybody needs them for some reason or another, but you have to work with somebody who knows how to protocol them out. Right? Bro science will get you started. but once you get into more than one peptide, once you have multiple, then you need support. You need someone with knowledge, clinical knowledge, on protocol so that you don't hurt yourself. I like that. That makes perfect sense.
Starting point is 00:47:03 All right, let's, I don't even know if we're going to have time for it, but maybe I'll circle around to it. You know, with your knowledge on DNA, I definitely want to talk about the Ananaki and shit like that. You know, the fact that we have a double chromosome, telomere to telomere. But, you know, let's, if we have time for it, we'll dive. into that. Break down, you know, some of my personal DNA, uh, from, you know, the brain to mood, to learning, to gut, to athletics and recovery. I'd love to, you know, take this, take some time with you here to like use this as, as not just, you know, personally, I want to know this shit,
Starting point is 00:47:35 but also, you know, there are people that, that, I think are in a large part in the same boat in many ways, you know, and then I want to talk about a bit about Adams that you, you know, from that podcast, I have questions. I think that I think will be really good too. Yeah. So I, and I think the first thing that stands out is that you're a binger, right? So there's certainly, yes, yes. And it really stands out because the extreme to which you're a binger also kind of influences every other trait of your personality, right, and how you think and perceive the world. So the way your brain works is, I don't care unless I care, and then I really care. Right. And so you're, you live in contentment, which is actually a very healthy place to be, which is pleasure, satisfaction,
Starting point is 00:48:18 very easy to experience and they last a very long time. And so it's easy to get stuck. And so your brain filters by not what needs to get done by what it wants to get done, which is not a bad thing, which allows you to be more of a specialist than a generalist, really good at what I do and I don't care about anything else. And it's going to look like, give me a list of 10 things to do. The two that I want get done with excellent world class level and the other eight I didn't even start.
Starting point is 00:48:43 Right. And then once a deadline comes, I'm going to just fake my way through it to make sure they get done. That's what binging behavior looks like. Like high conviction on certain things can't stop. Everything else gets ignored. That leads to incredible outcomes if you lean on that strength and not listen to the stories of you're a flake, you procrastinated.
Starting point is 00:49:05 That's just not what you're supposed to be working on. Don't even bother starting. You need to delegate it. Focus on your superpower. That's who you are. The second layer is you're wired for anxiety. You're wired for two levels of anxiety. because your brain is so deep into contentment and binging,
Starting point is 00:49:24 when it's not what you want or what you don't understand or your mission, it's very easy to feel overwhelmed. It's very easy to feel like, why do we need to do that? It's not a big deal, right? It's also very easy to have the fear of missing out. Like I seek contentment and I'm used to it. It's when I don't get my share when my favorite restaurant closed down, when the vacation got canceled, it's a much bigger acute crash than it is for other people.
Starting point is 00:49:53 The satisfaction entitlement that your brain has makes the lack of it feel bigger. And that's what keeps you going on the binging. Let me stay in contentment, right? So the anxiety from the loss of the fear missing out and the loss of opportunity is much bigger for you than it's for other people. The other thing that's big for you is your brain, and this is similar to what we discussed, where your brain, the way you see the world, it is a much higher level of detail than the average person. Your brain has a lot of difficulty prioritizing information. So whatever you're working on, you might think all of what you see is important,
Starting point is 00:50:39 but the people around, you probably only see 80% of what you're seeing. And they think that that's all there is to see. When they're reading something, they'll read it, and they'll come back next week and discuss it with you, and you'll say, well, what about this? And what about that? It was supposed to be at 4.52 p.m. And it was supposed to be indigo, not purple.
Starting point is 00:50:58 And they're like, what's the difference between indigo and purple? And your brain believes all those details matter. And who's right? Nobody's right. Nobody's wrong. This is all perspective. So when you combine that with the fact that you have this sort of high focus, binging propensity, I only do what I care about, which gives you sense of purpose, right?
Starting point is 00:51:16 And this propensity towards emotional intelligence and let's say trauma, that is just leadership. That's what it's wiring for, right? You are wired to lead. And if you're not in a state where you have control and you're making a decision you're leading, it's going to be crushing anxiety. It will break you. right so going getting a nine to five and being told by the dummy what to do you cannot do it right you need to tell the dummy what to do and lead them forward that's how your brain is wired right
Starting point is 00:51:47 and then you'll thrive that's what all these people pieces together equal so now understanding that you're a leader is one thing understanding the pieces that equal that leader is very different because now you know the strengths you can lean on emotional intelligence being able to read the room and know what people are thinking before they even say it right the detail orientation, picking apart at every little thing, anxious about it, living in like a helicopter mom state where like you're controlling and trying to fix everything. Now that you know that, don't overwhelm your nervous system. And this sense of like purpose and entitlement around satisfaction where you really highly prioritize what you enjoy. And if you're allowed to work on it, you're going to have incredible outcomes.
Starting point is 00:52:28 That's where your leadership traits come from. For other people, it comes from other things. This is not the sole path of leadership. there's other ways to get there, this is your path. So if you do it, incredible results. That's fine. How do I reconnect to nature? How do I build out my eco field in my own little backyard? If I got an apartment, what are the plants that I bring in. How do I respect nature and make communion with it? And then how do I do that
Starting point is 00:54:04 with God? There are so many paths that lead us up to the mountain. And I've spent, you know, the last 20 years of my life, really researching, digesting, and breaking this down. So I am so excited to be able to share this with you guys. I love the back and forth. So it's really hard to kind of say like, this is my niche. This is what we're doing. Optimization. All this other. Just join. Join us for one of the school days and see what it's like.
Starting point is 00:54:46 I guarantee you it will change your life for the better. All right, guys, back to the podcast. I like that. I like that. Let's talk about something, athletics. I had, there was a company back in the day that sponsored the show maybe like three or four years ago and they were talking about some of the new science with genetic testing and whatnot and one of the things they had said looking at my genetics was was that there was something not working to its full potential with regards to recovery so they were recommending glutathione they recommended ice baths uh things of that nature did you see anything like that and if so like can you break that down yeah i'm just going to open up the right area one second i'm literally in your report
Starting point is 00:55:27 right now. I said to go to the right report. One second. Let's see. Okay, I see one thing so far. And I'm going to look for one more thing. One second. The first thing I saw
Starting point is 00:55:47 I might as well tell you is when you get into oxidative stress, right? When you get into intense output, your, let's say your tissue needs to be resilient enough to bounce back, right? There is a gene pathway called 9P21 that actually determines your endothelial quality. So the inner lining of your blood vessel is called the endothelium. Yours is kind of mid-grade.
Starting point is 00:56:18 It's not the best. So the tissue is highly prone to inflammation. So the amount of damage done from oxidative stress for you is a greater level of damage. Two people go on a five-mile run. One person is ready to bounce back the next day. You are still struggling with inflammation for a few days on the oxidation, right? Second layer to this story is what happens when you're actually in that state of high-intensity cardiovascular activity. Your mitochondria start accelerating energy production by using oxygen as a fuel source.
Starting point is 00:56:51 The Krebs cycle starts burning oxygen, giving you energy. and as a byproduct of using oxygen, you end up making something called an oxidant, which is like the smoke of burning the fuel, oxygen, right? You're supposed to be able to kick that oxidant out of the mitochondria, kick it out into your bloodstream, and remove it. You have about a 40% reduced capacity to kick it out of the mitochondria. So your ability to generate energy
Starting point is 00:57:15 and your ability to clear the oxidation is minus 40%, which means you are not wired for cardiovascular activity. You're not the guy that's supposed to run on a treadmill. You're supposed to do resistance training. You're supposed to do Pilates and long holds and things of that nature. So there's some people, I had a tennis player, like literally a Wimbledon, U.S. Open kind of tennis player that everybody knows this guy's name, who was told to take cholesterol pills. And he's like, why would I, like, with all of what I do, like everything is perfect, why would I need this, right? And the first thing he said, as I eat clean, I said, yeah, but only 11% of your cholesterol score has to do with your food consumption.
Starting point is 00:57:53 89% has to do with inflammation. Cholesterol is a primary molecule your body uses to fight inflammation, which it gets demonized, but it's actually a very important molecule. So he had what you had. He had the bad tissue except his was worse than yours. He had the bad mitochondrial function except his was worse than yours. So a bit of an extreme of your case, right? And what did he do for a living was exercise?
Starting point is 00:58:16 cardiovascular exercise. Excess oxidative stress, poor mitochondrial function. Where do you have the highest density of mitochondrial? your body is the cardiovascular system. So that's the first system that's going to struggle. His endothelium was incredibly inflamed. The body starts responding by deploying cholesterol to fix it. But the free radical that cause the damage is still there in excess
Starting point is 00:58:38 because he has bad mitochondrial function. So that free radical starts damaging the cholesterol molecule. And now the cholesterol molecule, the transport systems that are supposed to get rid of it, just leave it there. Don't even recognize it because it doesn't look like cholesterol anymore. So it starts to develop an oxygen molecule. layer of plaque and a calcified layer of plaque. And one day the symptom masking healthcare system we have measures things in the blood
Starting point is 00:59:02 that tell you there's plaque and tell you you have a disease called cholesterolemia. Right? And tell you, go take a pill, go take a statin because the demon is cholesterol. No, the cholesterol is trying to fix the inflammation. But because he was so loaded with oxidants and his mitochondrial function was so pure, he caused the calcification of plaque of that molecule. So it took us about four months of supporting his mitochondria, and a lot of your listeners probably already know how to do things like that.
Starting point is 00:59:28 It took us four months of supporting this endothelial tissue. There's great products like arteriacil, cardiomirical, diobacs that specifically do this, right? Some bioregulators, which are peptides for organs, support this tissue. His doctor says, I don't know what you did, but you're good. You don't need medication, right? And we also shifted as training a bit where we reduce. the cardiovascular training, giving him more resistance, so he still fit, but he's not over the oxidating himself. So did he have a disease called cholesterolemia? Well, if that's the
Starting point is 01:00:00 lens you see things through and your job is to diagnose and prescribe, then that's what you're going to say, right? But if you start to investigate functional root cause and look at where the biology is broken, and then add on top of that the person's habits, that's what health is. health is that you living in the center of energy, inflammation, and immune system, right? If you have good cellular energy, no inflammation, and a thriving immune system, there's no chronic disease. If you do things to compromise these, these three points of the triangle, you're aging faster and you're likely developing a chronic disease. What is compromising these three things is your habits on top of your genetics. And the habits are.
Starting point is 01:00:45 different for different people. That's why we have to understand our genetics. Our genetics tell us this guy is a tennis player that caused a disease versus somebody else go do cardiovascular training to prevent cardiovascular disease. Completely different answer based on your genetics. That's what we're trying to determine, right? Yeah, that makes perfect sense. So on that route, you know, like the, you said you were looking for a few different things. This is from the first one that you noticed. For you? Yeah, for me. Yeah, the two things were your endothelium quality and the mitochondrial monochrome. Those two things speak to lack of recovery, right?
Starting point is 01:01:22 Very common. Yeah. Okay, perfect. There's another layer I can go deeper where I, so part of how your body deals with three radicals, the oxidants of oxidation, is it tries to use what's called hydrogen peroxide synthesis to sort of take those oxidants and before they cause damage, liquefy them into waters you can pee them out. your body does have a defense mechanism
Starting point is 01:01:44 which is hydrogen peroxide synthesis convert this into water, pee it out. That also you don't do well. Right? So the plan B of let me get rid of this excess oxidation, you also don't get rid of it. So you kind of have the trifecta of poor mitochondrial function,
Starting point is 01:01:58 poor hydrogen peroxide synthesis, and poor tissue quality, which is going to lead to recovery issues from oxidation. So this brings me on the next question, which is, you know, in large part, you know, I think when we talk about energy systems, we're talking about mitochondria.
Starting point is 01:02:13 And when we talk about mitochondrial health, I think a lot of people can benefit from this part of the discussion because we all want more energy. You know, I can give a speech on neutropics. I fought in the UFC for years. And one of the first things I got into was neutropics and how to heal the brain. That's where fasting, hyperbaric oxygen, plant medicines all kind of became. I even did a ketogenic diet for a couple of years, which speaking to the mitochondria, I felt amazing.
Starting point is 01:02:35 Like my brain felt like it was switched on for the first time in my life. I don't want to live in that space, though. But when it comes to people that seem to lack energy, if you're relatively doubt from a lifestyle standpoint, you know, for something like me, I'm not overdoing the cardio. I'm not overdoing carbohydrate intake or anything like that. I don't eat shit. Everything's organic. There's no chemicals coming in my body. I get adequate sunlight.
Starting point is 01:02:59 I sleep perfectly. You know, if all that's there, what are some of the tools that you use to optimize mitochondria? There's things like, you know, PQQ, which increases the amount of mitosis. ubiquinol, which is a good food for mitochondria. How do things like that in addition to methylene blue and ketones all kind of work in a system to aid the mitochondria? Yeah, there's lots we can do. First of all, a little side note. When you went on the keto diet, there's an actual gene pathway that will tell us if that was the right choice.
Starting point is 01:03:30 And you're about 50% suboptimal there. So the difference between fat and sugar, sugar will make you sick right away. You feel it like carb crash. fat takes a long time. Your body knows how to use it. It takes a while. So if you sustain the keto diet, eventually it would have broken your metabolism.
Starting point is 01:03:46 You could probably do it for four months, five months before I would start to create the exact fatigue that it got rid of in the beginning. That's exactly how I would cycle off. I would start to feel like, man, I'd really want carbohydrates. And I would want to, I'd also want to bulk up. So I'd go back to eating carbohydrates for, you know, a couple, two, three months.
Starting point is 01:04:05 And then I'd cycle back into ketosis for four months. That would be ideal for you. You just can't sustain it. Some people can be keto forever. You can't. The enzymes that are required to break down fat, you don't do such a good job. It doesn't matter until you've created a burden of several months. In the beginning, it doesn't matter so much, right?
Starting point is 01:04:22 So now in terms of mitochondria function, I would say one of the best things you can do is easy is use a sauna, right? When you go into a sauna, why is it that there's data that says that there's a 60% reduction in Alzheimer's risk for using a sauna, 40% reduction in cardiovascular disease risk? because the highest density of mitochondria in your body is your cardiovascular system. Number two is your brain. Number three is your eyes, which are really just an extension of your brain. Right.
Starting point is 01:04:46 So these are the places we're going to feel the value the most. When you're in a sauna properly for the right duration, the right temperature, your body starts to believe that you're dying. It can't understand why all this stress. And so because it doesn't know why you're dying, it releases something called a heat shock protein that starts to regenerate tissue everywhere, surging BD and F in your brain, also driving you into mitogenesis, new mitochondria,
Starting point is 01:05:10 and repairing the existing mitochondria. So it will give you that sort of revamp of your mitochondria. Another thing that does another job, a really good job that isn't spoken enough, is what's called molecular hydrogen. So molecular hydrogen is one of the few things that we know that actually it's the smallest molecule in the universe. So it's able to cross any membrane, any barrier in your body,
Starting point is 01:05:35 nothing can block it. So it can actually cross the cell membrane and then cross the mitochondrial membrane. And when it gets inside the mitochondria, it does two things, which I don't know anything else that does this. It induces mitogenesis. It stimulates you to make new mitochondria,
Starting point is 01:05:49 but it also cleans up the oxidation inside your mitochondria. So it removes all that stuff that builds up over time. It literally cleans it up and gets rid of it. And it also, interestingly, knows, even though it's the smallest molecule, it's a very intelligent molecule.
Starting point is 01:06:05 So it knows what part of your body needs the most support and it goes there first. Right. And this is why, you know, of all the things that I talk about, it's the one blanket statement that I would suggest anybody can do. Right. There are differences between different machines. I actually designed one and built one with an inhalation breathing machine, which we use in the clinic, right?
Starting point is 01:06:25 So I do believe that. Another area that supports, I mean, there's so many peptides from SS31 to MOTC, to NAD, very common, right? SS31, mitochondrial rejuvenation, MOTC will give it to, but MOTC will also give you metabolic support, right? NAD we know will give you cellular repair and support. I would say aerobic exercise
Starting point is 01:06:50 actually is known to induce mitogenesis, right? Now you have to, like you, not do it too much, right? Some people can't handle it, but aerobic exercise will give it to, and the other thing that will give it to is breathwork. Okay, cool. Well, something I wanted to add to that is that, you know, I've done one 55K ultra barathon when I retired from fighting just as I was,
Starting point is 01:07:09 again, looking for a new pissing contest to engage with in ways to push myself. And after that, I was like, I mean, it took me like over a month to recover from it. Yeah. But something I've really appreciated is like either nasal only breathing cardio where like that's my rate limiting factor. Now I feel way less beat up. It is something I can come back to every day. If I run hard, like, you know, I kind of laugh because my wife was a cross-country runner at
Starting point is 01:07:31 NAU. and she's half my size and she could just run forever. Like she could just keep running and keep running and keep running. I've always felt like sprint work, you know, playing football growing up. Like that always felt better to me.
Starting point is 01:07:43 But now, you know, understanding what is good for longevity, I've really gotten into some of the zone two work for lack of a better term, you know, and I think the nasal only is a great way for me to cap, you know, because there's still a part of me that's like, let's go get it. And then I can't run for three days
Starting point is 01:07:58 about pushing myself too hard. So like if I can, jog a 5K, you know, breathing through my nose and actually feel pretty good about it. But if I run that thing for time, I'm going to be messed up for a while. So you know what's really interesting there? So we experience all this stuff and listen to your body and do what feels good. But genetics explains why, right? So there's a gene called NOS3 that regulates nitric oxide production.
Starting point is 01:08:25 And nitric oxide is what dries vasodilation, which means blood flow, which means you can keep going and you can recover faster, right? The NOS 3 gene expresses in your inner nostril more than any other part of your body. Why? Because if you're breathing like this, you're probably doing something where you're not, this is not the right time to be repairing the body.
Starting point is 01:08:46 It's an emergency, right? But if you're breathing like this, it's rest and recovery time, good time to go into repair. So nasal breathing causes the NOS 3 gene to express, which causes your body to make more nitric oxide, which causes you to have better. blood flow, which causes you to sustain longer the physical activity and recover faster.
Starting point is 01:09:06 More nutrient delivery, more detoxification because of better blood flow. And that's why nasal breathing literally is an anti-aging tool, right? Nitric oxide, pumping the blood, keeping you flowing, blood in the brain, you know, energy in the brain. So it's, again, there's a genetic answer for everything, right? But when something feels good, there's probably a reason. Okay. And then finally on that, I promise I'll show up and get into some other stuff.
Starting point is 01:09:29 But what, you know, I've, people are on both sides of the fence with methylene blue. And to me, I feel like most people are underdosing. So, you know, I've read a couple of books on it. You know, 0.5 milligram to 4 milligram per kilogram of body weight is kind of the rule of thumb. I can stay. I've moved towards the upper echelon of that and I've scaled it back. But for me being about 100 kilos, I take 180 milligrams a day and I cycle on off it. But that feels phenomenal.
Starting point is 01:09:59 Like I feel like real cognitive sustainment. My body feels good. I recover way faster from workouts. I just feel good with it. It feels like something that really works for me. Does that add up genetically or is that just pie in the sky in my head? No, I agree with you that most people are underdosing. And I think that what people need to do is try trade up, start slow and build it up,
Starting point is 01:10:19 let your body learn how to use it. Stay at that peak, try trade back down and cycle up. And then do it again. And that's what people are getting wrong is there's all, you know, everybody with their blue tongues on TikTok telling you, let's go do this, but they don't tell you how, but they don't know. It's not their fault, right? They don't know. So, and you then you rely on the supplement packaging instructions, but they also don't know, right? Right, their bottles, the liquids are like 50 milligrams of bottle. Yeah. And I'm like that,
Starting point is 01:10:46 50 milligrams would be the lowest threshold dose for me to experience anything. Yeah. I remember taking trokeys that were five milligrams or 30 milligrams, and I'm like, neither one of these is hitting what I need to have an. experience from it. So for a long time, I didn't think much of it, but then I started reading more about it. There's a guy at Luis Gonzalez who's been studying this quite a bit. He's at UT Austin down the street from me. And so I loved hearing him on Greenfield.
Starting point is 01:11:10 I'm like, man, I'm just missing something. And then when I found the dose range, I was like, oh, this stuff is awesome. Like, it really does the job. It's a really clean energy source. I agree, 100%. I agree, especially if you're genetically wired for poor mitochondrial function. This is, again, where you can determine through testing, whether got micro wound hormone, whatever, get some data to drive your decisions.
Starting point is 01:11:32 Like, what are you even trying to fix? Right? But yeah, dosing people don't take enough. Okay. I like that. Oh, this is an awesome, brother. So let's talk. I guess we have a little bit of time here just to get into this because I like this.
Starting point is 01:11:46 You know, you are a spiritual person. You have a deep understanding of God and, you know, in your own way. And I think that's as close as we get to the truth, you know, as having that personal relationship. The more I've looked into, you know, the alien stuff and that kind of things, I think really what it winds back to is a lot of the biblical teachings, you know, and the fact that, you know, this Anonaki talk from the Emerald tablets and how our, you know, one of our chromosomes is like stitched together, what appears like, you know, two lengths, but with telomeres in the middle back to back, I find very interesting because that anomaly is not seen anywhere else in nature.
Starting point is 01:12:24 it's clear that we did not, there is a break in the evolutionary chain. I'm not saying evolution is not real, but I guarantee you we didn't come from something. Like it looks like we were created and maybe not from the creator that created all of it, but maybe from another higher form of intelligence that's not quite the all.
Starting point is 01:12:41 Consciousness has been our actual creator of humanity. What are your thoughts on that? Because I mean, you know, when you have your wealth of knowledge when it comes to the DNA, how much of that stands out to you It was like a red flag. So there's two red flags.
Starting point is 01:12:57 One is exactly what you said, that there was this fusion in this chromosome, which could not have happened as fast as it did. There's a clear line in the sand about a quarter million years ago, 250,000 years ago where there was just a change. And that's not how things happen. First of all, we don't see any evidence of evolution in humans. We're not changing or evolving. What we are doing is two things.
Starting point is 01:13:20 There's three or four potential versions of a gene, and they just keep getting passed around like a Russian roulette. You just don't know what you're going to get. And those same versions keep getting passed around. There's nothing new. The other thing that happens is epigenetic expression. So if you go through something impactful, like trauma or excitement or success, you're going to pass off your coping mechanisms to the next few generations.
Starting point is 01:13:41 And that's temporary. It's not a change. It's just an expression. So it's kind of like the volume of the gene gets turned on to hand over to the next generation. Now, that fusion doesn't add up. It doesn't, there's no natural way. that that could happen that fast. And if you look at which one,
Starting point is 01:13:57 it gave us complex speech, it gave us complex emotion, right? It turned us into who we are, differentiating us from every other species you see, right? So where did that fusion come from? And where was it decided that that particular chromosome should be fused? The other layer that's kind of the red flag
Starting point is 01:14:14 is the amount of junk DNA we have, which is what it's called. And I think that name is given on purpose to avoid us from thinking about what it really is. So if you look at your DNA, There's a bunch of empty space where there could have potentially been more code, more DNA. DNA is code, programming, instructions, right? There's just a ton of, in fact, the majority of your DNA is junk, empty.
Starting point is 01:14:37 And we're told to use the word junk and treat it as empty space. When really, should we ask the question, what could have been there and maybe what was there that got removed? What are we capable of? There's animals where you can cut their limb off and it grows back. There's animals that can change their color to defend themselves. There's dolphins that can send out sonar, right? What is the human body capable of if those genes came back? So those are the two questions I ask for which there's no answer.
Starting point is 01:15:06 We know the technology around genetic editing infusion exists. We just don't know how to implement it right now, right? There was one FDA approval on like a local eye condition that allowed gene editing, right? there's a company in Ecuador that Peter Thiel funded that does a gene therapy for FOXO4 which is like an anti-aging fat burning muscle gaining thing that some people will do it's like a $30,000 treatment it's the first sort of biohacking gene editing treatment right but even that it's not a full edit it's like something you have to do every couple of years so it just doesn't add up the way we became who we were or who we are is not natural it was caused
Starting point is 01:15:47 now the question is exactly the question you asked. Is it that we were created by our creator and then somebody else came along and changed us? Or is that we were created and here's the proof of the creation. It's in your DNA. Because this could not possibly have happened accidentally. Here's a signature of creation. It's in your DNA. We don't know which one it is, right?
Starting point is 01:16:15 Is this a test that God. says I created you and when I show you proof of the creation you still go look for aliens to explain it right or is this we were created but as many ancient texts like biblical text Islamic text the Torah will tell you that there was people before us that are gone now so you know who are those people and who did we come from right potentially giants living to 900 800 900 years like there's a lot of things like that where you're just like oh you know multiple different forms of human would like beings, but the Giants piece is wild too. I mean, a lot of people like,
Starting point is 01:16:51 giants, smyance, you know, and it's like, well, there's so much, you know, real evidence of that online, and the Smithsonian having, you know, swept that under the rug. And it's just wild to think about, like, there would have been a time when we could have lived with people
Starting point is 01:17:07 double our size or even beyond it. And there's statues of beings that are far larger than us. Like, oh, that's, you know, them paying homage to this thing that, you know, they make it bigger. Like, no, that's, that's the fucking size, you know, like, it's just wild to consider all the different variations that we could have been and how we landed right here on this one thing where there's no other variations anymore. There's so many missing pieces within us. I find it fascinating. You know, no answers to it,
Starting point is 01:17:32 but yeah, I find it fascinating. Yeah, and this, all this stuff, it's like all the ancient texts are, especially our religious texts, already told us all this. But when you bring it up, it's, it's posed as a fairy tale, right? It's like, no, that's a meta. It's a, for something that's a it quite literally says that there was giants. It quite literally says that people live for 900 years.
Starting point is 01:17:53 It quite literally says that there were people before you and don't lead to their fate by doing the same mistakes. Where did they go? Where did they go? Their civilization was abolished,
Starting point is 01:18:06 like gone. So we know it all. It was already told, and the same thing with human biology. If you read the ancient religious text, all of them, they tell you things about the body that we are now discovering
Starting point is 01:18:16 and thinking we're just discovering. What we're doing is just proving what we already knew. Yeah, 100%. I think they're what's crazy too, and you can look into this, you might already know this, but I forget the exact verse. I think it's Matthew, it's one of the Matthew quotes. Basically, it's in the book of Matthew, and it's the line where he says, you know, I can cure anything through fasting and prayer. Right? That line has been removed from a lot of new Bibles. Yeah. And what is science done?
Starting point is 01:18:47 Science is starting to prove the power of prayer. You've got guys like Joe Dispenza and things like that that have really made that, you know, more understandable from a scientific standpoint, validating it. And then also we know fasting. Maybe how many people have a whole books have been written back at this. Dr. Jason Fung and so many others have spoken to the power fasting. And so the fact that that was written that long ago, here anything through fasting and prayer,
Starting point is 01:19:09 it's like, wow. And now today they're like, hey, check out this. new thing we've got. It's called not eating. It's like, dude, it's been here. You know, it's been here this whole time. The prayer part, I'll just dig into that because there's a genetic answer for that. And because when people hear that, they once again, you know, through insecurity or ego or whatever, just again, think of that as like a fairy tale that, how is that? What is the science? There's no science there, right? Where's the evidence? Here's the science. Very clear. There are genes that cause disease. Everything I've talked
Starting point is 01:19:39 about so far today is like functional, meaning not gene equals this. It means, Gene plus your habits equals a negative outcome, broken biology plus your habits, right? But there are actual disease-causing genes. There are genes that are sitting dormant that when they get triggered and expressed will literally cause cancer, will cause a disease, right? The number one contributor to the expression of disease-causing genes is negative emotion. Trauma, stress, anxiety. the number one contributor to shutting off disease-causing genes
Starting point is 01:20:14 and turning on anti-aging longevity genes is positive emotion. And the most powerful is gratitude and forgiveness. And what do you do when you pray? Gratitude, the state of gratitude, the part of your brain that even allows you to feel anxiety and stress and trauma is the exact part of your brain where you feel gratitude and you cannot do both at the same time. The stress, anxiety, and trauma that causes the negative gene expression,
Starting point is 01:20:39 the gratitude prevents you from feeling those things, but also turns on all these beneficial genes that prevents disease from happening. So a simple line of don't want disease to pray gets treated as woo-woo, you know, biblical text, that's a story, but there's science that proves it, but why won't the scientists tell us that the books we already had were true?
Starting point is 01:21:00 Because of insecurity and ego. Yeah, it doesn't map with what they're selling either. All right, I'll leave you here with one last question. This is, this is, you know, regarding Adam, I think it will, it's going to pertain to a lot of people, even though I'm bringing up the podcast you do with Adam. In that, you talked about, you know, peptides are signals, right? And if we increase those signals, they can, they can have a profound benefit. We do that for too long.
Starting point is 01:21:25 That can create its own set of issues. He lacks the gene that gives him satiety, right? You also mentioned from a testosterone standpoint that, you know, increasing someone's testosterone when they don't have the receptors activated is worthless, right? You're pumping more testosterone and at best it does nothing at worst that starts to create larger imbalances. So you recommended something like boron to activate those receptors now the testosterone that he's already got is going to actually function by meeting that.
Starting point is 01:21:54 Is that correct? Correct. Okay, cool. So for Adamant specific with satiety and with how freaking wild the earth has gone with GLP ones and all the things and Reda, I've got a lot of friends that have, I've really done some great work with Reda. If he can't, if Adam cannot, you know, reach satiety, does something like Reda even work for him? Or does it just take a higher dose?
Starting point is 01:22:17 Okay. He's the person that would benefit highly from Reda because it's like, it's dealing with that challenge of satiety. It's very hard to shut off that desire, right? So he's the exact person that should try Reda. There's many other things Reda does. Like it helps with cancer and so many inflammation and so many other things. Anxiety, lowers anxiety. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:22:37 Yes, yep. So, yeah, he's an ideal candidate. Okay, cool, brother. Well, that's it, man. Tell people how they can, you know, obviously you work with high level folks and stuff like that. So you're probably quite busy. But how can people, you know, work with, you know, either the company that you've partnered with that you created, how do people, what's the first step in someone's process? They're listening to this and like, dude, I need to know this shit. That's no fair. Kyle has a podcast and you got to find out all this stuff. Like, I want to know that.
Starting point is 01:23:04 Well, there's layers. There's the work that I do. It's sort of like concierge level work. We have a whole team that will come in and do like, say, executive level, complete one-year body reset type stuff, right, with all functional testing. Not the cheapest thing, but highly effective, right? Then there's, I have a whole team of clinicians that have been trained to use functional testing in the way I've been speaking, right, for like families. And then I do group work. So, you know, obviously I can't help everybody. But I'll do, because your DNA doesn't change, because it's permanent.
Starting point is 01:23:37 it's not something where you need to keep coming back to me. If I can teach you once what it's saying, you know for life what's good for you and what's bad for you. So I realized that and I created these group programs where people enroll, 50, 100 people, whatever, and I can speak to 100 people at the same time all holding their DNA report in their head. And then we can help more people, right?
Starting point is 01:23:55 So all of those, I'll give you like a link for like how people can reach. I would say the first step would probably be Instagram. Go to my Instagram account. Every single day I post a video about something, whether it's about health, whether it's about, you know, what's making you sick, whether about some new biohacking thing, every single day I post a video. And I would say start there, deep dive, rabbit hole and learn a bunch of stuff. Contact me there if you'd like.
