Starting point is 00:00:00 Hi, I'm Barbara aka your nursing educator on Instagram. I'm a registered nurse and I create content to help nursing students feel ready to take on anything and everything that comes with the job and trust me it's a lot. Here's one of my favorite and simplest pro tips. Upgrade your scrubs to figs. Figs are designed for us. They are super soft, lightweight, and breathable with four-way stretch to keep up with your every move. Polished professional silhouettes? Check. Functional details and pockets in all the right places, check and check. No matter what your day has in store, Figs has layers to match. Their underscrubs are perfect on their own or as a lightweight base layer to help keep you cool and dry.
Starting point is 00:00:40 And when the temperature drops, their outerwear styles are made for everything from chilly commutes to freezing hospital hallways. If you're in healthcare or love someone who is, check out Figs. Head to wearfigs.com and use code FIGSCA for 15% off your first order. That's wearfigs.com, code FIGSCA. Well, what is this? Welcome to the Lady Gang. That's amazing. Say that again.
Starting point is 00:01:04 The Lady Gang. Things are about to change around here. Each week, we catch up with Hollywood's hottest girl posse, Kelty Knight, Becca Tobin, and Jack Vanek. Hello, hello, hello. Welcome to the Lady Gang. I am Becca Tobin, here with Jack Vanek and Kelty Knight. Good day. Good day. Good day. How's everyone doing? I'm not great. Why? It's my bad week. Okay. Oh, God. Oh, no. I'm nervous. She makes me nervous. Okay. I need to know what this is.
Starting point is 00:01:39 Same. It's time for... Good week. Yes, it is. Bad week. Oh, no. Okay. I'm going to really be honest here and it's gross and this is like true lady gang style but um i did question if if it was so gross that i couldn't tell you on the lady gang yes yes let's hear it all right so i've just recently gotten over my period like a flu like i got over it i'm at that i was at the end of my period two days ago and before i went to my friend's house to play cards who's in my pod um I showered, I was working in the yard and I showered and I put in my diva cup in case we went in the pool or I don't know. I was like, okay, I'm going to put it in. And then we play cards till like midnight. And then I fell asleep in the car on the way home. And I was already in
Starting point is 00:02:34 my pajamas. Cause I like, I go over in my sweatpants, you know? So instead of coming home and taking out the diva cup and putting a pair of period underwear on or doing a change in my nether regions, I just went to sleep. The Diva Cup was in for approximately 15 hours, which is three hours longer than they say you're allowed to have it in. And so I was like, don't worry, Kelty, it's going to be okay. It's like milk. I mean, I don't drink milk, but it's like the expiration date on milk. It's like you're supposed to drink it by the 19th, but on the 21st, you still can, right? It's like with prescription medicine. You can keep those a lot longer than than they tell you to. So don't throw out your volume. Yeah. Right. So I got up in the morning
Starting point is 00:03:20 and I was like, okay, oh, I gotta, I gotta fix this. So I did the change-a-rama, shower, whatever. Now it's 24 hours later and I've given myself a yeast infection. Oh my God. From having it in. And at first I thought, oh, it's a UTI because I had to pee a lot. And now, nope, my lips, the lips are burning. The lips are inflamed. They're burning. I put some coconut oil and some CBD oil on right before this podcast in my panties and I see how it goes. Is it Coke? Is it specific CBD oil that you're supposed to put on your vagina? Cause that sounds like it's not going to help. It's a healing CBD oil. I don't know. I just tried it. I've got to be honest. I am all about like holistic healing and all natural, but like don't with the pH in your vagina. Just get
Starting point is 00:04:08 the monostat. No, I also took the pill. I have a back stock of diflucan. I have like a whole baggie of them. I did get them in bulk. Okay, good. But again, to Becca's point, I would maybe wash yourself because if the CBD is not supposed to be, if it's not like vaginal CBD and it's like supposed to be for back pains, it probably has like menthol in it. You should probably wash your vagina. Yeah. I don't think you should put anything. Because here's the thing is like, no matter what you pick up, like if something is not made specifically for the vag, every single item you pick up in your bathroom is literally like, don't get in your, in your eyes or in your vagina. Yeah. Don't put it in open orifices in your body. It's not supposed to be, if it's
Starting point is 00:04:54 supposed to be a topical thing, it's not supposed to go inside of you. Well, welcome to life with the vagina, but at least, you know, at least we learned from my trials and tribulations that the coconut oil does, it does help. Honestly, I'm not burning at all right now. It's been about 25 minutes since I did the application and I feel fresh. Oh no. Open my legs. A little bit of it. A little bit of it. Sick. What's your good week? Oh, um, my good week is, so I have been working on my backyard bench. And I know that in an earlier episode, I had said that I ran into an issue that I accidentally made like a $6,000 mistake and whatever. So yesterday I was like, you know what? I'm going for it. I went to Home Depot and I got some mortar and I got a big trowel
Starting point is 00:05:47 and I just made my own version of concrete, like concrete, but with like a lot of water. And I poured that shit like i was pouring off one of those mini trucks and i just made a top on my bench i just made it myself there's no wood there's no whatever i use cardboard as like the edges and it is cardboard like well because you can't just flop it and then it spills over the side you got to like make an edge so it's like a rough edge i went out there this morning to check it it's beautiful i'm gonna paint it i'm gonna stucco the side and we have a bench like you know what? I'm a do-it-yourselfer and a do-it-yourself project doesn't have to be perfect. I let go of perfectionism. It's the end of 2020. Yes. Is it going to crumble? Yes. Is it going to
Starting point is 00:06:30 crack? Sure. Am I just going to have to paint it every year? Yes. It's who I am. Well, I like that you've gotten rid of needing perfection and now it seems like you're just a bit of a mess. It's a fucking disaster. Welcome to my life. You really did it. I started 2020 being impeccable with your words and actions and I'm ending 2020. Be a disaster. Yeah. I mean, I don't think perfectionist is really even a thing. I would never describe you as a perfectionist. That's true. That's true. That's rude. Well, it's not a good thing or a bad thing. It's just a statement. I don't think you're one of those people who is a perfectionist. You are a like hasty psycho. So it actually makes sense. It makes sense to me. I would just cement my own
Starting point is 00:07:22 bench a little rough. Cause you're, cause you probably skimmed some of the directions. Then you just like had to make it happen. Cause you wanted to do it so bad that you're like, I'm going to make this happen. Yeah. However, then you used cardboard wire. You're supposed to do like a wire to like, make sure it doesn't crack skipped. I tried to lay it down. Wouldn't lay flat. I was like, this wire, Chris is like, why do you have chicken wire? I was like, don't eat it. Don't know. I'm like that with baking. I'm like that with cooking and baking. I can't follow a direction. It's so shocking. I'm like the directions in front of me. I'm going to be like, you know what? I think it needs five cups of flour instead of two. I'll make it a special
Starting point is 00:07:59 Jack thing. And then it's like, why? I can't, I specifically unfollow the direction. So I don't know how anybody does it. Well, I don't even intentionally like do it. I'll like hastily move through the recipe and then realize that I did something that's irreversible. And it's like, okay, well, I guess this is it. Like trying to make a balsamic Brussels sprout. I put the balsamic on the Brussels sprout before it went into the oven. Oh, even I knew that you shouldn't do that. God, a beginner Brussels mistake. Well, I don't make them often cause Zach hates them. So it's like, if I make them just for me, which is just like boring and like a bummer. So yeah. Oh, they're so good though. All right. I'll go next. Okay. My good week is, well, my bad week is
Starting point is 00:08:46 that we are not going home for the holidays at all. So we are in Vancouver. We do have a lot of friends here, which is really nice. But there's nothing like being with my niece and nephew on Christmas morning and watching them like open their presents like maniacs. So it's like a little bit of a bummer, but we turned that around and we just booked some nights in Whistler. And the best part about this is because Americans are not welcome in this country, we will be in Whistler without Americans. How many times in your life can you go to Whistler and not see Americans or anywhere i it's true and it's not just americans it's all tourists but americans were the worst so it's just so nice to be in another country and not see americans you know what i'm saying
Starting point is 00:09:44 i mean those americans but yeah you are like mines i'll be like bring out the poutine and they're like jesus christ like what is this gravy they do what do you mean you don't have Coors Light um I did spend Christmas in Whistler last year so I'm very jealous but they love I the one thing that I remember from my Christmas in Whistler is they have a thing called a Caesar and it's the Bloody Mary oh no Caesar is not the Bloody Mary yes it is it's a Bloody Mary with clam juice a Caesar is a Caesar and a Bloody Mary is a shitty U.S. version of a Caesar yeah coming from the drinking aficionado no i'm not the girl who drinks margaritas from a plastic jug no but caesars are a national pastime they are they're delicious yeah delicious well and
Starting point is 00:10:41 they're healthy often topped with a celery stick as a waitress former waitress i knew this we delicious. Many Caesars in my day. Okay. Okay. Um, my good week is probably the most boring good week ever, but I, so ever since COVID I've been taking vitamins because I want to like up my immune system, whatever. And I went to the doctor the other day for, to try to deal with my stupid TMJ and they took blood and tested all of my levels. And not only are my vitamin levels good, but they're excellent. Thank you, Ritual. Thank you, Vitamin Sponsor. I don't know if they're sponsoring this episode, but they have been sponsoring us. So yeah, my vitamin D is excellent and everybody's vitamin D is always terrible naturally. I feel very proud of myself. So
Starting point is 00:11:29 that's my good week. My bad week is, and I can't believe we haven't talked about this on the podcast. So Kelty set up this thing called Zapier for our Twitter and it's supposed to like post automatic tweets that I think that you set up beforehand. Is that what it's supposed to do, healthy? Okay. The long story is I went to the create and cultivate small business thing. And the thing that all the five webinars I watched said is like automate work that is taking time out of your day. And we have a lot of pressure on our employees. And one of the things was like posting the new episodes when they come out. So I set up this thing called Zapier where you can like take the RRS feed and it's supposed to zap out to Facebook and zap out to Twitter and like
Starting point is 00:12:06 automatically zap. So she set this up, but then somehow along the way, I don't know what happened if somebody hacked into our Twitter or hacked into our Zapier, or it's just taking posts from the Facebook group, but these posts are getting pushed out onto our Twitter that it's coming from us. One of the posts saying, I tested positive from COVID. What should I do? And Becca sees it and is like, Kelsey, did you test positive for COVID and you didn't tell us? And now you're just asking the internet for help. I mean, wouldn't be the first time. And then also the best part that Becca pointed out. It comes from our Lady Gang. It's the Lady Gang Twitter. It's not like one of our personals, but everybody just assumed that it was Kelty. It was the one that-
Starting point is 00:12:51 They're like, Kelty, is this you? Are you okay? I'm like, of course. Of course. Because they know that you guys would never share that information as a tweet. No, especially before telling anybody, just like a nice public forum. Although if Kelty were to test positive for COVID, well now- It would be an article on Us Weekly. Not anymore. There you go. But if I had been Colton, I would have had a GMA exclusive.
Starting point is 00:13:16 You would have called our guest today and been like, does glamour need any COVID content? A celebrity COVID celebrity. I need to talk about my experience. I need to talk about this. Can you believe it? I lost my sense of taste and smell. My struggle. Yes.
Starting point is 00:13:32 Colty's struggle. When you're this boring, you're just looking for ways to make yourself interesting. I understand. That is true. That is true. You're not boring at all. you're the opposite of worrying you're fascinating kelty truly thank you so much okay well when we come back jessica's here from glamour not to write an article about me but to talk about herself
Starting point is 00:13:53 now back to the lady gang our guest today is glamour's west coast editor she oversees all television and entertainment coverage in los angeles she regularly appears on cbs's the talk She also lends her entertainment and TV expertise to Access Hollywood, Entertainment Tonight, The Today Show, GMA, and more. She's a major moderator at PaleyFest, South by Southwest, remember that? The SAG Foundation and the Television Academy. And she's a graduate of the University of Arizona, where she majored in media arts and minored in journalism. She's originally from St. Louis, Missouri, and she's a major Cardinals fan. Don't bother her during the baseball season, honey.
Starting point is 00:14:30 If she's not talking about a celebrity, she's talking about the game. and she's a member of the academy of television arts and sciences the television critics association and the broadcast journalist critics association she is the greatest head of hair i've ever seen on a human in my life in real life please welcome to lady gang our friend jessica radloff oh my god i'm gonna write you a major check for that and hire you to be my publicist kelty that was amazing well knock off five dollars because she almost didn't get saint louis missouri out yeah it's true. Missouri is one of those states that I don't have to talk about a lot. So Jess and I met over 11 years ago. It's actually about to be our anniversary. So we met at the
Starting point is 00:15:12 American Music Awards. She was working for Glamour.com. I was working for the Insider.com and we were way down in like shitsville on the line. It was pouring raining. Do you remember that oh my god it was a top hat year for everyone that wants to like oh yeah top hat ama year um lita's a sensible like lita and we were in such the shittiest part on this carpet that where the like red carpet plastic cover do you remember this jess like of course is where we were standing like we were standing in the downspout essentially but you know what i don't know if i've ever told you this Kel, but I first remember seeing you in the garage as you were getting out of your car and you were going to be walking over. And I remember looking at the outfit you were wearing
Starting point is 00:16:01 with the top hat and the gold and everything. And I was like, wow, I really should have upped my game even more than I did. I just remember thinking that like, oh no, I did not dress appropriately. Like I was in a dress, but I mean, you took it to another level. Like I'd never seen before. And that is my first memory of you. And then of course we met on the carpet and it is, it's one of those like times that you just always remember. And I'm really grateful that we have, we have a photo from that day, like everything. And we got Katy Perry. It was like the shittiest part. And for some reason, maybe it was the top hat. Maybe it was your bangs. Like, we don't know, but she came over to us distinctively, like around all the other shitty media. And, and,
Starting point is 00:16:45 And every year when it comes to fall, I think about the American Music Awards, although I don't know what's happening this year. And I'm like, oh my God, it's Jess and I's anniversary. And you didn't go last year, right? No, because I was in London in New York for our Women of the Year Awards. So that's why I was not there, which wasn't the saddest thing in the world. I was saddened to celebrate our anniversary in person, but I can't say I was too terribly sad to miss the awards.
Starting point is 00:17:09 Sorry. There you go. I love watching the awards. I'm not, it's not my favorite carpet to cover. I'll tell you that. so I think you know when you think of Jessica works at Glamour like I'm like devil wears Prada like this is your moment and so you've been there for so long and you've hustled so hard to I mean you just said you've done two interviews already it's 10 o'clock in the morning
Starting point is 00:17:30 you know how did you get this gig and then how did you keep the gig I kept the gig because of fear honestly that that is really what it is I'm always so scared um that I'm going to lose my job because I worked so hard for it that I honestly think fear is the biggest driver and just wanting to constantly prove myself. And, and people say you need to take a break. You need to give yourself a break, but it's, it's really hard to do that. And I think all of you know this as well, when you've struggled so hard to get to a place. I mean, I didn't get my job at Glamour until I was 31 years old, which, you know, a lot of people are starting right out of college in an assistant position or something, but it came a little bit later for me. And then I was 37, I think,
Starting point is 00:18:14 when I became West Coast editor. And I'm always so grateful for the opportunity that I never want to rest on my laurels or feel like, okay, I've made it. You have to take those moments, of course, to appreciate where you've come from and what you've achieved. But I do say somewhat sarcastically, but it's true, is that fear is the biggest driver. And then how did I get the gig? It is a very long story, so I'll keep it short. I had been trying to get into glamour for years, just in terms of writing an article here or there. And I was not having any luck. And part of that was because I wasn't based on the East Coast. I couldn't go in and see these people for informational interviews. I didn't know anybody that worked there, especially being in LA. The publishing industry doesn't
Starting point is 00:19:03 really have a presence there. Glamour didn't even have a presence in LA really. So what happened was a total fluke and it proves the age old notion that it is luck meets timing meets opportunity where I was actually home in St. Louis. It was a Friday and it was over the summer and a client of my dad's came over to the house. My dad's a lawyer and he comes into our house. There's a copy of glamour on our island in the kitchen. And this client says to my dad, oh, that's so funny. You have that issue of glamour. My mother-in-law is in there. And my dad first said, well, how old is your mother-in-law? And he's like, she's 92. And my dad's like, well, why is your mother-in-law in an issue of glamour? And I think there was a feature on what sex was like at every decade. So
Starting point is 00:19:52 she was in the 90 to 100 group. My dad's like, well, how did they find your mother-in-law? And he said, oh, because a family member is an editor at Glamour. My dad just happens to say, oh, that's so funny. You know, Jess has been trying to get in there for years. Nothing's happened. He goes, why don't you send her, have Jess send her an email and put my name in the reference line? And when my dad told me this, I was like, okay, fine. I'll send another email that'll never get answered. And, you know, cause you just get used to the rejection and not even rejection. It's just that nobody gets back to you. You know, you can't even get rejected because you can't even get into that door. And then sure enough, I did. I put the referral name in the subject line.
Starting point is 00:20:32 And then this editor, Lindsay Unterberger, who I will forever be grateful for, she contacted me less than 30 minutes later and said, I just looked you up. You sound amazing. Can you talk? And that's literally how it happened. And it was very gradual. It wasn't an instantaneous thing, But I always will thank Lindsay for being that fairy godmother that opened the door. And she always says to me, she's like, listen, I might have opened the door, but you stormed through it and you had the talent and the perseverance and the scrappiness to stay there. And that's what means so much because it's luck when those moments come along, but you have to be ready for it.
Starting point is 00:21:14 And if you're not ready for it, it's not going to work. So that's the long story short, which probably felt like a very long story as it is. But that's how it all started about nine years ago. Glamour, at least. Wow. Love that. What a good story. I know.
Starting point is 00:21:30 Crazy, right? Yeah. You never know how it'll happen. Yeah. Like when people are like, oh my God, you work so hard, Kelty. I mean, not really anymore, but when I was like, when we were in the middle of like writing our book, doing our TV show, doing Lady Gang at ET, like I was like, oh my God, I worked so hard.
Starting point is 00:21:48 And then I go on Jessica's Instagram. Grandma's like, nope, Jess has been up since four and she's still working. Nevermind. She has a longer day. I just want to jump in real quick and say, it's nice that you're very honest about the driving force being fear, because I don't think that that's something a lot of women admit, but I know for myself, I know for all of us, that's sort of like, when's the other shoe going to drop feeling. And it's not necessarily the healthiest and we're all working towards like moving through that emotion, but it is the truth and it's okay. Yeah. All the time. And I always, even to this day, I'll get afraid, um, not of being fired necessarily, but of being laid
Starting point is 00:22:29 off because we're in an industry that is, it's not at all, uh, reliable and it's scary. And you have to, you know, try to move past that. Cause I don't know if it ever goes away completely. I don't know if it should go away. Cause I think that helps too, but it's, it's about saying that, you know what, you're, you're worth the work that you do. You're great at it. And, you know, if something does happen, then you'll be okay because of it. But it's, it's still a hard thing. You know, I, I never will say that I'm completely comfortable because I'm, I'm not, that's just, that's just the honest truth. Yeah. Before we go to break, I want to ask you, you know, tell me about your like, Oh, celeb moment. I think what's cool about your job and what I've
Starting point is 00:23:14 always been jealous of is that celebrities love glamour you know whereas you know access hollywood entertainment tonight they might be like a little in the gossip pool and the breaking news pool i think that glamour like every celebrity still wants to be on the cover of glamour they want to share their really deep soulful womanhood journeys with glamour and i think you get great access and you get a lot of time spent with these stars so what is your like i sat down with mindy Kayling and like we ate breakfast and I know how she likes her eggs. Like what is your moment? What is my, oh my gosh, that's such, well, thank you for those kind words. That is such a loaded question because I've been lucky to have so many amazing celebrity encounters over the year. I
Starting point is 00:23:56 think the one that I go back to though the most is George Clooney back in 2011 was a magical year, Kelty. And I tell you it's a lot because I think that's when you and I met. Obviously. Obviously. Obviously. I had made a list for Glamour heading into awards season in early 2012 saying what I hope to accomplish. And on that list was, I wanted a hug from George Clooney. And I remember he was at, I think it was the, it was the Critics' Choice of the Hollywood Film Awards. And I was in the middle of interviewing Paul Feig, who is one of the kindest, nicest people in Hollywood. And all of a sudden out of the corner of my eye, I see George Clooney walking down. And I was like, oh, holy shit. What do I do by the way? Because I never wanted, I'm never that
Starting point is 00:24:49 person to be like, oh, I'm sorry. I can't talk to you anymore. I have a big celebrity coming, but I was like, this is going to be my only chance. And I literally had, I said to Paul, I go, Paul, I want you to stay right here. I was like, but George Clooney is coming and I have to get something off my bucket list. So, so hold on, don't move, stay right here. And I'm going to scream George. And I, I did. And I said, George, I don't want an interview. I just want a hug. Oh my God. I even would say that. Cause of course I would want an interview, but he was like, of course. And he came over and he gave me a hug. And the thing that was the craziest was that, you know, you put a lot of makeup on when you're doing these red carpets.
Starting point is 00:25:27 and I got my bronzer all over his Armani tuxedo and on the carpet, trying to like wipe down his tux and everything. And Paul Feig is just cracking up later in the press room. George was like, it's totally fine. Don't worry about it. I'll just send you the $3,000 dry cleaning bill. Totally good. And he was kidding, of course. But I, I honestly, at that moment thought I might be fired tomorrow because I ruined his tuxedo by giving him a hug on the carpet. But, but that was, that was one of the greatest moments, but, you know, sitting down with people like Mandy Moore and having her be so open and wonderful or Mindy Kaling, you know, people that you really respect, that's, that's a cool thing. And when they're open with you about their
Starting point is 00:26:17 livelihood and then also people that you, that you love to watch on TV in iconic roles, whether it's The Crown or Stranger Things, that's really fun too, to get to know these people behind the scenes and how they bring a character to life. So I could go on and on, but those are some of the highlights for sure. Well, we have brought Jess here to basically talk through the pop culture of 2020. It was a dumpster fire of a year, but we're just taking a quick break and we'll be right back. You're listening to the lady gang. So we're back and every year, you know, I love a year end list. We've done like 75 year end lists starting in August. Yeah. Sometimes she does them half of the year, but since it's the year and then it's a whole shit show. So this is great
Starting point is 00:27:07 that we're on time. We're close. Who's going to do our year end, like pop culture, the stories that got us talking this year. And I was like, Oh my God, I can't believe we haven't had you on in five years. I mean, mostly because you're so busy. Can I tell you a secret also? Yes, please. This is my first podcast I've ever recorded. No. Guys, you are the first. I've been on the radio a lot, but never like a podcast. And I feel like if there was any podcast that was going to be my first one, I'm so happy it's with you guys. You're such a good speaker. You should have your own podcast. Oh, you're so sweet. I want to listen to all your stories. She does not have time, Jack. She has no time. I got to wash my hair. That's what takes up all the time is washing
Starting point is 00:27:49 this shit. Seven hours. It's worth it. It's worth it. It's good hair. So this year was so dark for pop culture because we had no, I mean, I was looking back and I was like, do you remember red carpets? There were some, we're going to talk about them in 2020, but we really got into binging our shows. We're going to talk about those. There were a few things that happened and I want to get your take on them and what you know about it and, and sort of, and, and hear from the, the, um, the bitches, Becca and Jack too. I was like the bitches. Okay. Um, I want to take us back to the beginning of the year because the last big red carpet moment I remember is Brad and Jen being reunited at the SAG awards. I mean, doesn't it feel like five years ago at this
Starting point is 00:28:31 point? Oh God. Yeah. I can't believe it was this year. I know. But that literally was our new cycle, I think for two weeks straight. And it was the greatest, even if we knew that it probably wasn't a real reunion, like we all wanted it to be. It was the greatest thing to have the hope that maybe something could happen into when we first saw them together, hugging it. Like it just took me back to 2004. I think it was, or 2003 when I was just crushed that these two were splitting up. I did not know how the world was going to continue. Like it's celebrityism dead. Like what is happening. So to see them together after 17 or so years was like, it was like seeing a unicorn. We shouldn't have known then that the whole year was going to be unlike anything we've ever seen
Starting point is 00:29:18 before. I don't even know when it happened, but I feel like it was near the beginning of COVID and it really carried us through those first couple months that there was like something to hold on to. Yeah. And then they gave us that like zoom and she's like, you know, of course, like a tank top looking hot with like a perfect blowout and I was like you know they know what they're doing I'm sure they care very little you know what I mean I'm sure they like giggle and they're like oh my god but it doesn't matter it it fills up a hole in me that has not been filled since the Thanksgiving episode of friends when Brad Pitt came on as like the mean ex-boyfriend the best thing I could compare it to even though this is totally different in terms of levels is that to bring it to the
Starting point is 00:30:00 Bachelor, Bachelorette is when Hannah and Tyler started quarantining together in Florida. That was like, of course that was not Jen and Brad level, but I literally, I did write a piece on how it was keeping me sane during those first few weeks of quarantine because the hope that Tyler and Hannah could be together again. Yes. Oh my God. It was just, it was the lifeline I needed. But then you saw that they did that video recently where they were like, we hated each other. We didn't hook up once we slept in the same bed didn't even make out and i'm like even if you hate each other wouldn't you just have sex anyways like it's right there i know it's so it's so true but i'm like for the sake of our country like we need we needed these couples whether they were
Starting point is 00:30:47 real or not preferably real we need to do it for us yeah really did um speaking of couples i blake and Gwen are finally engaged. Yay. Right. I felt so bad for him for so many years. Like he obviously is crazy about her and want, I'm sure wanted to get married to her. And he's like a little bit like Jack's Jerry. Like I'm sure he was waiting for Gwen to be like, okay, you can propose. Like, yeah. You know what I mean? But every interview, are you thinking about marriage? You're thinking about marriage? Do you think she's the one? And I mean, can you imagine how annoying that was for him kind of j-lo and uh an a-rod same thing like when's the wedding what's it you know like it's all the time but doesn't it feel like blake and uh gwen have been engaged
Starting point is 00:31:31 forever at this point i thought that they were that they were right when it was announced i'm like wait a minute didn't this already happen yeah i love i just love them as a couple i think they're so freaking cute they are all i want like talk about your bucket list is hugging george Clooney. One of my bucket list items is to get wasted with Blake Shelton. Like that would just be like such an incredible experience. Cause he just looks so fun. Like I want to take shots with that guy. Although we've a fun couple, we've gotten wasted with some musicians and it's sometimes is excruciating. It doesn't seem like that guy who's like, Oh my God, we're at a party. Let me get my guitar, which is what makes it awful. Like Blake is like, I'm just going to
Starting point is 00:32:11 get some more wood for the fire and like let's yeah he just wants to have a fun time yeah he's the kind of guy that puts garbage bags in the back of a pickup truck and makes a like a uh country a big cooler oh like you all sit in the back of the truck in the water no this sounds like my husband um okay so we're happy for them uh we're happy for them we're happy for them have you interviewed gwen before for glamour i have she was actually glamour's woman of the year in 2016 i want to say and blake was there um she's she's fantastic i just she does i don't know what is she 51 now 52 i think is she really yeah she's i don't understand it i don't she's holy shit yeah and she doesn't share a workout routine like publicly like a kate hudson you're
Starting point is 00:33:09 like okay i see you every day on instagram doing your workout like gwen is amazing you know she's gotta work out to like keep that body but like what is it is maybe she doesn't maybe this truly is just like spider blood you know we don't know i think it's being in love i think that really just makes you glow. And it's a fountain of youth. Yeah. That's why I've aged 20 years over this year. Yeah. That's, that's the, that's the key. So once I fall in love again, I'm going to look so damn good. Okay. I want to, I have one for George Clooney. That's now that I know it's your guy. Um, I think this year it was a glamor article where it said that George was supposed to play ryan gosling's role in the notebook he was supposed to be noah yeah this was shocking to
Starting point is 00:33:57 me i can't imagine that movie with george clooney isn't that crazy when you hear these stories of who was supposed to be in what role and you know and listen i'm sure if he was we would have still loved it it's just the fact that and then we would have said like can you imagine if ryan gosling was in the notebook i can't imagine him we wouldn't know who ryan gosling i know that that's what made his career wasn't it yeah their age difference it's not over it still isn't over what is their age difference i feel like george clooney is still quite a bit older yeah see he seems like he'd be too old in that movie but then i guess you're right if it ended up happening i just know this makes sense yeah i feel like he seemed to i also just saw a headline i'm sure
Starting point is 00:34:37 it was very deceiving and i didn't even click on it but it was like ryan gosling says it doesn't get better than rachel mcadams i'm like in what way but i i was too lazy to read it but in my heart as a scene partner did they date i they dated and they ended up hating each other or something but during the movie they did the kiss on stage at the people's the surfboard awards whatever the surfboard award is people's choice kelty no not the surfboard i mean teen choice team choice yeah they did the kiss on stage there's a 20-year age difference of george and ryan yeah that is that would have been weird yeah then they probably wouldn't have done rachel mcadams right or had they already casted her because that seems like a weird pairing too but probably not
Starting point is 00:35:23 what doesn't care you know when it comes to an older man they don't blink twice that movie with kevin bacon and amanda seyfried that just came out like she plays his wife i'm like you guys this is insane. I love Kevin Bacon. Kevin Bacon is my dad's age. No, he's not. Is he? He's got to be 60 something. Oh my God. He's so hot though. He's hot. But I was also like, come on Hollywood. Yeah. That's a little bit weird. Hollywood. Oh my God. Very hot. Go ahead. We're so excited about Kevin Bacon. I know that one of the most popular and thank goodness your glamour.com readers and glamour readers love the Royals and I love the Royals. And sometimes there's like six Royal articles a day, which makes me so happy. Um, but this is the year that Harry
Starting point is 00:36:14 and Megan left royalties and I'm on season three of the crown right now, which is just about to get to the part where princess Diana comes in. So I'm just really feeling close about this. Um, what are your thoughts? Well, wait, can I just tell you one of my interviews this morning was with Erin Doherty who plays Princess Anne on The Crown. I literally just got off the phone with her because she's in London right now. So of course it's like eight hours later. But by the way, season four of The Crown, it is probably the best season yet. It is amazing. And when people ask me, who do you most want to interview that you've never interviewed? My answer I think is, and will always be a member of the Royal family. I am so beyond obsessed with them. To me, it's
Starting point is 00:36:57 just it's just magic because it seems so untouchable and that it's like a world we'll never be in um but the royals our readers are obsessed with it and in fact i think one of the number one stories on glamour this year um was that lady sarah shadow i don't know if i'm pronouncing the last name right that is princess margaret's daughter when sarah was a young girl like around six or seven she bared a striking resemblance to princess charlotte um from when princess charlotte was like three or four and we did this story about how princess charlotte looks so much like this other royal and our readers just went crazy for it like it it was the number one story i think in all of conde um or something for like the week because people could not get
Starting point is 00:37:47 enough of this image. And it is, there's just something magical to this family that we're so intrigued by. There's love, there's drama, there's romance and politics and everything in it that I just, I personally can't get enough of. So I'm glad our readers are just as much into it. But yeah, the Harry and Meghan story at the beginning of this year, I will never forget where I was when I heard that. And it was just like, I'm sorry, what? Where are you going? What does this mean for fashion and like hand-holding and we need our Harry and Megan fix. So please don't step down. And if you are, please don't go away. So yeah, it's a story that keeps giving. It doesn't feel like they're going away. It seems like they're creating their own presence,
Starting point is 00:38:28 like in the States, right? Yes. And it is my goal to run into them in LA, but I also feel like if that happens, I might run the other way and just scream and cry because I don't know what to do. it's going to be too much for me to handle so i i don't know um what i will do just scream i don't want to interview you i just want to hug i just want to hug i'm wearing my bronzer the only good i know the only good thing i realized i do have my perfect intro for this already i've been planning this if it ever did happen if i ran into them in the wild which was my cousin was megan's publicist on suits when she was on the show. So I feel like I could be like, my cousin, Scott, you know him very well. And that would be my way in without feeling like a total crazy person. But I still
Starting point is 00:39:18 might cry and run away. I don't know. But that is my intro so far as I have it to make it seem like I'm okay with them. Has your cousin told you? Yeah. Has he told you any stories? yes he has and I cannot say any of them because because if I want to keep my cousin in my family um then I need to make sure but no he he loved working with her and in fact um there's so many great photos I'll have to ask him if he'll let me post one because his Instagram is set to private but there's one where Megan is kissing him on the cheek and it's just the sweetest moment and um because they were always at events you know together and stuff um and just so many fun times she she truly is a remarkable woman um and she was always very involved with philanthropy and charity
Starting point is 00:40:08 way before um you know she became even more famous you know for dating princess harry or princess harry jesus prince harry um so yeah she's really terrific um but it's fun like he would show me like i've got her number and this is her cell and i'm like let me just see it let me just look at it like i'm not calling i just want to look at it but um but yeah no she she's really truly great and um it's been a fun romance and story to follow these last few years for sure for sure okay um all right jessica this is jessica's pick you can talk about folklore j-lo super bowl performance or Emily in Paris? Emily in Paris. Yes. Yes. What do you want to tell us? My pick too. Was it bad or good? I think it was bad. Both. I binged it in a weekend. Both. I thought it was exactly the
Starting point is 00:41:03 show we needed at exactly the right time because who knows when we're going to be traveling internationally again. So to see Paris through those rose colored glasses, so many gorgeous people hilarious moments hot the food was there yeah i mean it it's truly when net netflix asked me to moderate the show's panel for paley fest this year and i think it was the fastest i've ever responded to any request i was just like yes like there was no trying to play it cool i'm like yes yes yes yes yes um and that cast is truly some of the nicest people you will ever meet and i know you hear that a lot, but they truly, truly are just the greatest. So I can't believe Netflix hasn't announced a season two yet, although I'm sure it's coming. But it was just, we just needed
Starting point is 00:41:53 that show when we did. Yes, there are certain things that were stereotypical and poor people in France were like, what are you guys? Well, they already hate us though. They already hate the whole world. So it's fine. We wear berets. When I went for the Victoria's Secret fashion show in Paris. And I dressed Parisian the whole week just to like be on theme for the American idiots that were like, I was like, I got to wear a beret during my standup, like maybe a striped shirt. Well, wait, can I just tell you when I moderated Emily in Paris that morning, I went to Panera, which is known as the St. Louis bread company in St. Louis, but Panera nationally. And I picked up a fricking croissant so that I could eat it on camera. And I made, and I got a coffee
Starting point is 00:42:34 from there as well. So here I am on camera eating a croissant, pretending that like I got it at some gourmet, you know, pastry shop. No, it came from Panera and I'm eating it on camera. If I had a beret, I would have worn that too. So I am completely on board with what Kelty does, which is dress for the theme of it all. You did it for the wet, for the Royal wedding too, for Megan and Harry, didn't you? Yeah. It's my favorite thing. This is why we're friends. I love a good reason to dress up because it gets so monotonous it truly does like for every big george clooney hug there's like 47 days where you're like what am i watching who am i who it like there's i mean i don't know how much glamour does with that but you know there's just a lot of like uh and so when
Starting point is 00:43:16 something is exciting you want it to be exciting now i do want you to correct yourself because the greatest cast is the cast of becca's new show that she's filming in vancouver oh my god Josh Peck because Becca has a show and there's a dog and we're so excited. There's many dogs. Okay. I will correct myself. Yeah. It's okay. I'm not as nice as Lily Collins. Admittedly, she is the sweetest human on the planet and I am not. Jack, would you like to talk about Keeping Up With The Kardashians ending the Emmy Awards or Tiger King? I mean, I think, you know, Tiger King would be my pick. What do you think? I can't believe, I mean, I can believe it, but do you remember when Tiger King, the phenomenon was out?
Starting point is 00:44:02 Like that seems like it was a hundred years ago. Well, okay. Number one, I knew about Tiger King before because it was a podcast last year before it became this like huge show as a podcast called over my dead body, which was insane. But I think as much as Emily in Paris was what we needed at the time, Tiger King is what we needed at the beginning of COVID because that was like two weeks after everything went down. and it was the only thing that was like really bringing america together is over the craziness
Starting point is 00:44:31 of that documentary so true it was so true that's all anybody was talking about is it's like the numbers rising and then tiger king and that's it and then to have did you have to interview carol on dancing with the stars i did not no okay good thank god i mean live your life i have a goal for Jessica coming on lady gang. I feel like this is, it's an industry that's changed so much over the last few years. And it's because of people and women like yourselves who are not afraid to talk about topics that maybe people were afraid to touch before, but also to be very honest about it. And we need that more than ever because we know how influential the entertainment industry is. And if we're not talking about what really goes on or what really
