well what is this welcome to the lady gang that's amazing say that again the lady gang
things are about to change around here each week we catch up with hollywood's hottest girl posse
kelty knight becca tobin and jack vanik
hello hello hello welcome to lady gang i'm becca tobin here with jack vanik and kelty knight
hello you'll notice my clipboard is different today i have a floral i did in honor of the it
ends with us drama my floral clipboard out just kidding um our other clipboards are packed away
for the tour so i had to use my backup clipboard so cute so cute adorable adorable yep hi guys hi
hi we haven't been in person in a hot second besides the tour oh yeah yeah but like in this
room yeah it's been a little bit doesn't it feel so nice it does feel nice yeah back at home i
agree i wish i didn't have a hangover did you drink last night yeah stupid what were you doing
this is so lame what just drinking by yourself in the corner we went to like so so ford did two
weeks ago he did school like but it was like it was considered a camp at the school like i think
i talked about this on the podcast it was like a shorter day but the same teacher same place like
getting warmed up so last night was meet the teachers and like not meet the teacher like the
official whatever cute so then we did an early dinner with one of our families that lives in
the neighborhood whose son is going to school at the same school. And it was just, you know,
Thursday nights are tricky. They always get me. I always think that that's a weekend,
but then when I wake up on Friday and certainly this Friday for a flight at 7am, I feel quite
off my game. Yikes. I don't understand why I think I can drink. I know it sucks. It hurts.
it hurts exponentially every single time but like i can't stop doing it i can't either i like hate
it for a day and then i'm like really craving a glass of wine right now yeah it's hard a mimosa
could get you back on the do you think i've never been the type that can do hair of the dog the next
day even just one no let's try one brings me back it's 9 a.m let's try jack perfect time to drink
i do have some orange juice in my bag from the airport which is another purchase i only make
hungover me too really when i travel yeah nice oj i feel it immediately in my bones i felt the
same way about booze after the lady gang stop in dallas when because that's the only time you drink
we drank but we drank tequila out of bucky's mega cups yeah and i filled it up i mean it was full
and i don't i i just i'm such a bad drinker but then the next day we flew home yeah and then got
home at like 7 30 in the morning yeah yes and then i took the day to recover and by the time
i went to work on monday i was still not okay i know i know i was like what am i we booked all
early flights to love it yes for tour that's my that's my hack we don't have to oh no i know but
like i feel weird if it's not you know like well you waste your day see we got home at 7 30 that
that day didn't even exist yet then you have the whole day to recover so you don't have to recover
the next day. The only, I do it even, I do it when, even when I'm like partying my balls
off. No, that's the worst thing I've ever heard in my life. You get home before you
even know that you're alive. No, on a plane hungover with no sleep is brutal. There's
a special type of hell, but I'm at the age now where it's less about the alcohol sometimes
and more about the sleep. So body aches. Yeah. Like I just don't know. Anyways, sorry. Welcome
to the lady gang welcome to mid 30s late 30s are we doing um are we gonna do a good week bad week
for this yeah but you're last because your good week is going into the rest of the episode is it
my good week is it a good week or is it a bad week okay do the whole thing okay it's time for
good week yes it is bad week oh no jack i'll go first so obviously we all know that becca went
to taylor swift so this is gonna be like a taylor swift themed episode i guess yeah i don't know if
it's good or bad. No, I thought about the best title. What? Allegedly what's a happening
Becca's version. You know, she does the Taylor's version. Oh, that's such a deep cut. It's such a
people. No, they don't know. And also I just want to say before you start, sorry to interrupt
the amount of people, the Facebook group has reemerged. It's real live. Yeah. Only because
you went to Taylor Swift. I know that people are like, are you guys still knock knock? Anyone's
still there and then they're like has becca discussed it so no pressure also can i just say
that like i won't go into detail but i really appreciate the lady gangers coming to my defense
in the comment section of my instagram because people are like i thought i roll i thought you
hated taylor i thought blah blah blah blah and somebody goes she's already addressed this on
the podcast and i need you to pay attention like it was like i just love when people come for me
No, they are coming for you for sure.
Jack, go ahead.
Um, well, okay.
I can talk about this later.
Okay.
My good week is like I said, Taylor Swift podcast, but I am fully in for Chapel Roan
right now.
Yes.
I am drinking the Kool-Aid.
I am on the bus.
Like I have never loved anything in such a long time and I love it.
I'm worried about her.
Wow.
Have you seen all the, she's done a lot of tech talks about like her mental health and
being famous and people like going crazy on her and be feeling like she's being stalked well she
is being stalked yeah but that's also like this is what we discussed when i had this is my devil's
advocate moment when we talked about um what's her name gypsy rose where there's just certain people
who it's hard enough to be wildly famous as a healthy mentally healthy person i watched those
TikToks and I was like she's either gonna leave music forever it'll be like a Fiona Apple yeah
or it's gonna get dark like it's making me very scared for her well I took it kind of differently
because like her TikTok about the like the stock she has like multiple like crazy stalkers but like
she's one of the only people that have like come out celebrities that have come out and said it
where it's like I need a boundary yeah there is another guy that posted a TikTok about his friend
like was friends with jason momoa and he'd come to a small town to hang out and he was like the way
that people treat celebrities is like they're not real people yeah like they're there's like
no decency ownership yeah and it's like and if you don't react the way that i want you to react
to me now you're a bad person kind of a thing so i i just liked that she was just like super
authentic about that because it's like dude don't come up to me don't take a picture with me i'm a
her also chaperone is like her alter ego it's not even like her anyways also she's wearing cute
costumes so i love her i love i think she's so authentic i think that she's kind i love her like
messiness her lyrics are just like stream of consciousness about just being a girl and but
then her songs are beautiful i just think she's the best i think she's so cute and like i hope
that she continues you know the dance the hot to go it's so easy yeah five six seven eight h-o-t-t-o-g-o
you can take me it's very easy um i feel very torn about this opinion of celebrities and feeling bad
for them for being i don't feel bad for her no not her like but like the jason momoa i feel bad
for her because she's young and she's like been very open about mental health struggles and that
her rise was so meteoric and so fast but i do think that because people get paid so much money
to do something so easy like in the grand scheme of things like jason momoa yeah um that's the
that's sort of the trade-off like every job has a good part and a bad part about it and unfortunately
when you make 20 million dollars for a movie that does mean when you go to a starbucks you might
have to take some pictures with people or decide not to, but then also know that people are going
to be disappointed. Yeah. Like have like a stinky reputation. Yeah. You're basically like Mickey
mouse of Hollywood. So it's like your stinky reputation. I have a stinky reputation. I like
you Jack. Stinky reputation. I agree with that. But then also I think it's like you can have a
boundary while still, yeah, I mean like total lunatics. It's like, it's not, it's nuts. It's
yeah. But you know, I get it. Frozen cons. Um, my bad week is I'm starting to do this thing.
I'm back in the Facebook group. So I'm like seeing all your posts, I'm commenting. I'm one
of everybody else now. And there have been a few hilarious posts, always anonymous asking for
advice. And I got approval from all these people that I can share them on the podcast. So I'm
starting my own little mini series about reading these okay here's the post said random question
but do any of your boyfriends insist on you calling them sir mine has been really adamant
about it but i haven't heard of a single person in my close friend group calling any of their
partners sir and it quite frankly feels weird to me calling somebody my own age that he says that
he just wants to feel respected but it doesn't feel right to me is this like in bed or all the
no just let's call call jared's on a plane jared's on a plane i'm gonna call chris right now and just
call him sir i'll do it after you it's such a good but why are we sir right well so she was
in the comments and she was like he just wants to feel respected and all of the comments were
like absolutely feels weird like christian or christian gray yeah yeah hi sir
yes you're my sir i just sir chris
do you like it when i call you sir do you feel respected
so not respected thank you for this sir bye
bye here's the difference between how chris answers the phone when you call he said hi beauty
beauty yeah yeah listen to this get ready i'm just gonna text you're at high star and see what
he says okay just don't have kids this is what this will teach you or he just won't even answer
dark he's always on calls you guys hear it i know the loudest talker ever loudest conference
call talker nope denied denied no sir he's on a golf course of course sir your call has been
forwarded oh it doesn't even have a voicemail what if i do a double call no i want to know
like what are what's the opinions i thought it was so weird no i don't like it she was answering
some questions and they're like is this a sexual thing is it in the bedroom yeah that's what i was
wondering and she was like no he wants he just wants to feel respected and they've been dating
for a while too so it's not like it's like a 50 shades of gray thing but no she says it's not she
said it's like he just wants to feel respected that's out of nowhere out of nowhere he probably
watched a porn yes got it in his mind that he that it's hot and sexy yeah and and that's the
thing she's like it's not sexual it's there's it's sexual there's just no way everything is
sexual to men i mean i hope it's sexual because if it's not that's really weird yeah hello sir
did he grow up in like a military family i don't know i don't think so well i need you to bring
the details okay no it's fine but i think it's strange but also what like if this is the one
thing your husband is like this guy's great and she's happy in the relationship and everything
else is perfect. And she, and this is just his ask. It's like, okay. I don't know. It's too
weird. It can't be an isolated. No, no. Okay. We're having the debate right now. If we're
going to teach Ford to say yes, sir. And yes, ma'am. Cause it's a very Southern thing. You
definitely are. I think so. Really? Yeah. I, I like hate it. You do? I hate it. I don't like
it i think because growing up in the south nice growing up in the south i just was like i don't
like that adult i have no respect for that adult i don't want to call him sir yeah well that's a
you issue but it's like creates this weird like well it's like it's like a i mean it is a power
dynamic but yeah i have a question for you but like most adults are assholes and they're not
worthy of it's true that's why i didn't use it yeah but i have a question when you guys were
kids did you call your friends parents by their first name or mr it was miss and then first name
i so like miss becca yeah i think i did first names yeah you would yeah we're more casual
though i have never like it's never did you use miss last name mrs last name wow interesting
you know what i mean depends on what part of the country slash mrs like never yeah it's
interesting. Yeah. Like still to this day, like as an adult, I would never call my best friend's
mom, Cheryl. I would call her Mrs. Melbury. Hi, Mrs. Melbury. Like never. And we're forties.
We're elder. Weird. I think she has a new last name too. Cause she remarried anyway. Okay. My
good week is that Chris Knight, number one fan of Lady Gang podcast has been listening to the Lady
Gang and he was shattered when I told him, when I said that our marriage was in shatters. I
how many times is this getting shatters and so, but since I've talked about this, but since then
he came to me and he was like, I know when you're not happy in our marriage, it's my fault. And I
need to buck up. And so he's been bucking up in a big way. I got to, um, my hotel in Vegas. I was
there for work and in my room was like a card and like a crudity, a crudity, a crudity, not,
a charcuterie. And I was like, Oh, it's so nice. The, the hotel, the encore knew I celebrity was
coming. And then I opened the card and it was from Chris. Hope you have a great show, blah,
blah, blah. He's been doing all these really nice things for me. And then for our anniversary. Um,
and then at the show in Austin, the first show of the podcast, he sent a cake, which was very,
very cute. I had no idea. Very surprising that for anniversary, he listened and he heard that
I wanted charms. And he got me a vintage Tiffany's ballet slipper charm for my charm bracelet. And
it's the little things, it's not the most expensive gift on the planet, but it was so
thoughtful. He sees me, Chris Knight, marriage is no longer in shambles. We're doing just okay.
That's really sweet. So sweet. And it's also sucks to hear that he, when your relationship,
when you're unhappy, it's his fault. I was like, it's not, sometimes I'm just unhappy.
right but like for me I know that when I'm unhappy it's my own fault in my marriage you know what I
mean it's not Zach's fault it's nothing he's doing it's always your fault it's always my fault no I
agree though I think when we are going through times where we're like not connected whatever
it's both of our faults yeah but he I think I have therapized myself more and so I'm more
which is insane but I am the person who will put my cell phone down on a Saturday now which is
wildly crazy, but I'm like, or at dinner, put it in my purse and just like, want to talk about my
feelings instead of work or whatever. Like that's wild for me. So we grew up together just being
like work, work, work, work, work, work, work. And now I'm like, I want quality time. And he's
like, who are you? So he's happening to like meet me in the middle a little bit, but like
those little gestures are so, so sweet. Stupid. I love it so much. I love that. Okay. My bad week
is my relationship with Jeff Lewis is in shambles. Jeff Lewis. I'm talking to you, Jeff. Sometimes I
appear as a chump, which has been very wonderful. Jeff has a huge show on Sirius and I love
chumping, but it's a thing. You get up at seven 30 in the morning, get into glam. They have a
whole thing that they judge your outfit, not full glam, but like, you know, I'll do it. Yeah. Like
I don't not rolling up in a sweatsuit. I mean, I will now. I don't, well, if you ever asked me
back. But, um, they have this whole thing where on Fridays they judge your outfit. So you have
to like put an outfit together. Like it's a whole thing. And it's early in the morning and
who judges your outfit, like the other chumps, they have like a Friday thing where like outfit
of the week and they, you know, choose the outfits anyway. So Jeff, like he's been very
adamant that he hit something about his serious deal does not allow him to go on other podcasts.
Cause I've been trying to get him on lady gang for so long and the girls want him.
Well, Jeff was recently on, I think it was Dumois.
I saw him on another podcast and no, and two teas and a TT or whatever it is.
Two pods and a tea.
And I was like, you know what?
He just doesn't want to come on lady game.
What a great excuse.
I know.
We should start making that easy to get caught.
Cause then if you actually want to do a podcast, like he's, I don't think he does.
I don't think he wants to do other podcasts.
And he's like, I don't have time for this.
if you want Jeff Lewis, you come and listen to the Jeff Lewis show, which I totally get,
but I'm sad because I've asked him multiple times and he was like, I could get special
permission. And then it just kind of went like, I don't know the truth. Jeff, have you confronted
him about this? I haven't been back on the show. I will confront. I'm confronting him right now
on lady game. Does he listen? Probably not. I'm going to clip this and send it to his assistant.
shane shane i see you wow she's shaking in my boots shaking and jeff's like i don't give up
okay becca okay should we do this when we come back
sure okay when we come back becca's good week bad week aka taylor swift review
now back to the lady gang okay we're back so i did attend taylor swift for those of you who
didn't hear the podcast where I introduced this journey, this adventure. My sister won a ticket
lottery of sorts to get tickets to the London show. She was going to give them up or sell them.
But then my mom thought, I'm just going to pay for all of us to go to London together. My mom,
my sister, my niece, myself. Um, and I love London and I hadn't been to London in such a
long time. So I was down and I was like, yeah, I'll go to Taylor Swift if it means I can have
four days in london yeah you know hell yeah um and you haven't taken a trip without ford
no i mean zach and i did like a new year's eve trip with friends last year like yeah but i haven't
done a girl's trip you used to do girl's trips all the time with your friends so we this was
really it was really really really fun so we land in you know london stay at the cute the browns
hotel is like the oldest hotel in London. It is beautiful. It's you have to stay there. It is
so beautiful. The room, whatever the service, everyone's so nice. So we go there, we have tea
as soon as we land. I love an afternoon tea. It was wonderful. So anyways, the whole, the,
the concert fell on the next night that we were there. So, you know, we have to prepare and go
very very early because it's just crowds it's a 92 000 seat arena so insane it's wembley where
they play soccer oh my god so it's massive it's chaos it's you know all the things so it's really
cute everybody's dressed up you know the whole thing it was exactly what i was expecting my
niece is so excited oh that's so cute she's so can we talk about your outfit my outfit was a 30
h&m sequin dress it was perfect reputation era i was so mad that i had to dress up but my sister's
like i'm wearing a sequined what did she wear she wore like a short a sequin short with a sequin
blazer and a cowboy boot cute my mom was in a sequin top and quinn of course was in a sequin
dress full outfit so i was like i'm not gonna do this to her she's a child if it was adults that i
was going with, I'd be like, you can get over it in my, my jeans and my sneakers. Right. So I wore
this like H and M thing. Um, and here's, okay. I want to say this Swifties, please don't come for
me for my unbiased opinion of the evening. Okay. Yes. Give it to me. Number one, there's no doubt
that Taylor Swift is a, is an icon. She performed for three and a half straight hours. When does
she pee I have no idea is it a bucket because they she must well no I can go three and a half
hours without she probably just well it's I guess it's weird to not drink any water I did the
rockets and it was almost two hours and we didn't pee really yeah that would be my nightmare I
wouldn't be able to get yeah I don't I mean I'm I guess what if you take a laxative at the wrong
time and I don't think she's taking laxatives knowing she's gonna be in front of 92,000 people
but what she probably does have like a bucket or something while she's changing yeah like do a
changes yeah so okay so here's that's what i really want to know i know me too i'm like
less travis kelsey more people where are you shitting if you have a diarrhea attack
great question um okay so here's the deal i the problem is the misc the mis disconnect for me
is i have never emotionally connected to her music yeah so it's really dead i haven't either
that's why I'm like I have no there's zero connection I felt like I was in a church service
as a non-member so you're like this is great sure could be you know yeah and he's touching
all these people around me in a special way and I'm watching this really beautiful exchange between
an artist and the concert goers but I myself was more of a fly on the wall because as much as I
love some of her songs I do love some of them yeah like her reputation era is definitely my
favorite because she's a little sassier yeah so there were songs that I was like yeah I'm feeling
this but to be honest with you even if it were Celine Dion I don't know if I could sit through
three and a half hours of a concert yeah three and a half hours is such a long time like even
my niece who is such a super fan yeah was kind of fading yeah moments and I'm just thinking
what does she do at the end like what are the later situations going on like is it high energy
at the end is there ever i have so many questions okay go ahead yeah no but you're i'm not in the
end i mean it does it definitely like she has like a build and then she comes down for like
folklores a little bit more you know chill and then yeah and then it kind of like they produced
it out as best you can for three and a half hours to keep people excited but it's like
it's really i think in my mind i there's nothing i want to watch for three and a half hours unless
i'm in sweatpants and i am horizontal on my couch i can't even do that i can't sit through a movie
right so were there times where you could sit or were people standing the whole time it was really
that's what's hard for me as an elder yes people didn't sit during the piano section no some people
did and some people didn't so if the person in front of you decided yeah oh you're kind of screwed
that's what's hard that's what i liked about when we went to third eye blind well because we were in
the front row we were in the front row of the seats we could always we jammed but i jammed from
my seat i can jammed from my seat probably still not three and a half hours that's so long it's a
long time it's interesting even when i went to see celine dion god i love you so much but i've seen
both of her shows her residencies and the last one she talked for like 40 minutes like she talks
and it's amazing but i was like i'm ready for dinner yeah like yeah you know nothing longer
than two hours well that's yeah it's a lot okay and they they had she had two openers
um three and a half hours just her or was that just her i mean maybe she's like three hours
in like 10 minutes maybe you weren't you didn't go for the openers yeah because you kind of because
if you wait um you can't get it um the security oh that's kind of cool she is amazing i mean
hayley williams is one of the greatest vocalists ever the acoustics in a wembley like in 92 000
yeah it's hard kind of sucks yeah and i felt bad for her because i'm like she's so talented yeah
but it just you like echo the sounds like i it blows my mind sorry it blows my mind that there
is a world where paramore is opening for anybody because they're like they're huge i know but it's
like it's yeah the other artists i get because they're like like gracie abrams open for her
she was smaller like that's their friends she's just like i just come along yeah you know and
then you see like it's not selling 90 000 seats you know no but they're massive yeah yeah
Yeah.
Yeah.
Um, so we, you had to go, we had to go early because if you wait, you're getting stuck
in, like it already took forever to get us in the doors going early.
What snacks did you have?
Also, Wembley doesn't have a great situation for food and beverage.
It was also very hard to get a buzz on because they didn't want people drunk.
I understand, but I, it was, it was, it was challenging, you know, it was not like the,
whatever.
So anyways, but here's what I'm going to say.
I sat down in my seat, of course, ready to come at this from like a very skeptical, whatever
mindset.
Granted, there were moments that I caught myself like, I still, I really don't like
that she's in a flat boot.
I really just like that she's in a tragic, some of them are amazing.
That's what's crazy is that the flat boot actually is not a huge, it's not a huge amount
of time she's wearing it, but it is a flat boot and it hurts my feelings. And then she's in like
a weird tap shoe looking thing for the t-shirt era where she wears the, she's in Oxford and it's,
it's weird. It's weird. She's granted she's five 10 and she has really long legs so she can pull
off a flat Oxford, but pulling it off and like slaying it is different when she's in the heel
boots and the things I'm like, yes, she's moving. She's much better dancer than she used to be.
I think Mandy Moore, who choreographed it, did a great job making her, yeah, like her ability.
I feel like, yes.
And she knows how to work a stage.
I mean, she's really like, but you know, I am of the Britney Spears generation where
Britney is dancing her ass off and as good as her backup dancers.
Granted, she's not writing her own music and she's not singing.
Right.
And then there's the Christina Aguilera camp that I come from where it's like, she can
wail her face off. So I don't really care if she can dance Taylor's abilities and her magic is in
her songwriting, in my opinion. So that is hard to appreciate as somebody who a doesn't really
connect with the music. And also it's not really being displayed, like watching her in her
documentary. I was the most impressed by her. This was a couple of years ago when she didn't
miss America. I was like blown away. And I was like, this is a true genius. She's a true artist.
she's I like that's my favorite version of Taylor so her like performing shake it off in sequence
I'm like okay yeah cool take it or leave it cool like this is whatever but I got sad because as I
was judging her and also judging her hair for not having like a proper styled hair yeah it's just
kind of down yeah then I was like Becca shut the fuck up this doesn't happen to men like if Justin
Timberlake's performing nobody's upset that he didn't change a shoe or change his hair or you
know i'm like she doesn't need to she has nothing to prove she's putting on a crazy great show
you know so i caught myself just trying to be more fair about it and being a little bit more
feminist yeah and so it grew on me did i think the red lip for the entire three and a half hours
was a little bit much sure but does she want to she's ballsy she's performing for three and a
half hours she doesn't want to change her lipstick yeah okay like she's fine she's playing she's
playing instruments in real time. Ed Sheeran came out, which was to me, the number one of the entire
songs that they sang. They sang the one that they did together, which is, um, what's the name?
Everything has changed. Yeah. Everything has changed. And then she sang his song with him,
which I'm now blanking on. But anyways, it was cool. And it was the only night that Ed Sheeran
came out in London. So that was really cool. And then this is my final takeaway. Another thing
that's so unfair about being a woman in the entertainment industry. She has clearly been
coached on how to speak to her audience in these shows. And so she never once in the entire three
and a half hours said anything regarding, thank you for coming to see me. It was always, thank
you for coming to see us. Thank you for coming. Or this is the heiress tour. Like it's very much
packaged as if it's a show that she's just the star of versus justin timberlake's like
i'm playing madison square garden come to the justin timberlake concert i'm justin timberlake
it's it's just so it's clear to me that who if it's her or if it's people who around her
they make it they make her either pretend to stay very humble or she's just genuinely has
that instinct to be humble but it's it's it's weird but is it weird becca because we i feel
not that the dallas house of blues is the uh similar to wembley but like we feel exactly the
same way when we're making lady gang shows but we are a group we are a group so we can talk we can
say we know but not it's not just come see becca jack kelty no i know but we don't we are not like
come see Becca Jack like our shows it's like come get us all together the lady gang the audience is
part of the show but that's a different I think that's a different thing yeah it's different
because if it were just because the lady gang is a community Taylor Swift is like a fan but I think
that I think Taylor Swift is a community she looks at it similarly but it's it's like here's an
example she stopped at one point in the show and it was just an eruption and it went on for like
five minutes. And she just stood there like taking it in. And then at the end of it, she was like,
wow, anytime my band and I is having a bad day, we're going to remember that moment. And in my
mind, I'm thinking your guitar player is not going to think that those cheers were for him.
You know what I mean? And that's okay. And I'm sure some of them were, but those people were
screaming their faces off because they're seeing Taylor Swift. So to me, I'm like, it makes me sad
that she has to be that calculated because otherwise if she shows that she really thinks
we would kill her but i'm sure justin timber like i don't know why this is the or justin
bieber or like one of those dudes right he could absolutely hear the cheers and be like holy shit
you guys are here for me yeah this is epic yeah no it's true it's true it's like no i never everybody
is like yeah we are here for you yes and it's like this i don't know if it's faux humility i
don't know if it's i mean i know there's humility and i know she knows she couldn't do this without
her whole crew and tour and all the things, but the people that sold the tickets, it's one person.
It's her, but you know what I'm going to say, and I might get in trouble for this, but I'm leaving
it in is that this is very interesting that I do think that Travis Kelsey and her are great
together because I just interviewed Travis Kelsey. I'm not allowed to really talk about it till it
comes out in October. Um, but it was really interesting because almost every answer he gave
me that I asked about him, like, are you worried about the upcoming season? You're so busy. You're
like blah blah he brought it back to a team mentality like that's but that's a very sports
thing but hockey players do the same thing it's very sports but it's also that he had media
training yeah no I know this is media training it's the same thing as the Rockettes I wasn't
allowed to be like you know who the bitch of the Rockettes is stage right end girl fuck she's the
bomb you have to be like when we dance together we are better but he also probably had a whole
slew of new media training once they started dating that's what I'm saying he got media
trained the shit out of when he started but i i don't know i mean also she does something
interesting where if you go to adele and you see her in concert she tells funny stories she like
is sassy she does this thing taylor also like she shares her feelings but she doesn't really share
opinions yeah oh well that's and it's like it's like kind of like textbook keeping your
congregation is by never never saying anything that could polarize an audience yeah and so and
I understand also that it's also like part of a protection of who she is as a human she doesn't
want people to know exactly who she is yeah so she keeps that stuff in but then as a as an audience
person I'm like I still don't know who you are well that's the thing I feel like she's been a
mastermind at like pretending to show everybody who she is through her music through music through
the easter eggs through this yeah and then but like nobody knows like what what the do her and
travis kelsey talk about that's what i want to know yeah like i don't think i know her after
watching three and a half hours and usually you leave a concert and you're like oh that person
has a really good sense of humor or wow that person's like has a dirtier mouth than i would
have assumed like it's like fun little things that you get to discover right but that's like
by design because that's how i mean it's worked for her because people feel connected without
knowing well devil's advocate press the button i would say that you know her if you can if the
music touches you yes you know her like i know that's also like she's not able to express that
or doesn't want to or they're saying don't do it like from the words but the songs are it but it
goes back to your opinion where it's like you know her feelings but you don't know her opinions like
i don't know if she watches housewives no you know nothing about her right nobody knows anything
about her and they know like how she feels about relationships breakups and breakups it's you
actually because also it's like genius level genius of if you're always sharing your like
vulnerabilities which she is in her music right then people are going to resonate with that yeah
you know whether it's I mean I'm not saying every single person I'm one of the people that doesn't
but I can at least things that yeah good I can at least listen to the music and be like wow she's
really brutally honest about like this breakup or this feeling or being sad or heartbroken or
whatever. But at the same time, I'm like, this is her staying really neutral. It's very safe.
It's so safe. And even though you can keep all of the different fans because you don't,
cause you don't have opinions. That's the thing. And even on this podcast, if I go into a podcast
to record something to please everyone, it usually means I'm sharing a lot of my opinions to myself
and just simply like being here and being, sharing feelings. Feelings are universal. You can't really
get mad at somebody for having a feeling, but you can get mad at someone for having an opinion.
Yeah. And I just think that kind of sucks to be a woman in this industry and know that that's what
you have to continue to do to keep the masses. But see, this is why I love Chapel Roan.
Right. Cause she's not trying antithesis of Taylor Swift in so many different ways because
of that kind of stuff. Exactly. Yeah. I have a question. Um, did you like, did you have a
favorite era of the production wait okay sorry i have another question but it hasn't that kind
of has some reputation because she was like it was the most non like politically correct
version but like i'm talking stage production yeah that was like great the dance they she like
utilized her dancers the most in that um her costumes really are great it honestly is just
that flat boot in the oxford in the weird t-shirt era to me that i was confused by i love that blue
the cerulean blue dress oh you know it works like it it's weird but she pulls she pulls stuff off
yeah even her hair by the end of this show i was like i see her she's kind of a badass for doing
her hair like for just letting her hair do what it's doing i love it and i love it it's out it's
like zhuzh is out yeah you're listening to the lady gang on my tiktok it's like all of these
posts from the show of her like doing random things and they're like rep tv is gonna drop
at midnight tonight this is because rep tv is gonna drop like what is that what's rep tv i know
what it is it's like her version of reputation like taylor's version yeah like rep tv yeah but
like it's like she'll blink her eyes twice and people are like it's coming at 2 a.m yeah there's
like a whole but like it hasn't come everybody's like what's coming tonight and it's been coming
tonight for the past like four months but she does do these crazy easter eggs like i can't even get
into it because i don't know enough about it yeah i have a question did you see the hot dancer
the hot man dancer oh javik i did see him and for a moment in time i was like oh he's hot i wonder
if travis is okay with this but then i was like he knows he's hot yeah you know and that's not
the guy yeah but did you see him like hump that like in the lavender he like humped i saw on
tuesday he like kind of he appears to be but i don't know i mean he's cute yeah but her her
dancers, maybe it's cause it's such a huge arena. It's hard. You can't really feel that connected
to any performance. Like one of the dancers is, was on glee for a long time as a backup dancer
or as a dancer in the show. And she's one of her backup dancers. Like she's one of the most
talented dancers ever. And you're so far away. You're so far away. They are used a lot, but not
as much as I would. It's a lot of just Taylor on stage by herself. Wow. A lot. That's surprising
because that's not what it looked like in the movie at all yeah it's really um did you think
the stage like the lights and the sound and like it could have been better really to be honest like
in my mind i was thinking when i saw reba mcintyre my first concert ever that bitch came down in a
car from the ceiling yeah in like an old vintage car stadiums how she's she can't come from the
ceiling she can't from but but there are limitations with stadiums i am aware there
limitations but i do think like adele's piano catches on fire in the vegas show they're just
where's the pyro there's just there just wasn't like a whole lot to for the amount of money that
tour is making it and maybe the international stuff is is more they probably tear it back
that's what uh balvin had to do for international right because it's like you can't even get the
shit on a ship they brought the folklore house to which i guess was like some big thing she was
like can you believe it came to came to london but in my mind i'm just thinking you know it's
2024 like i saw reba come down in you know 1996 a vintage car from a ceiling oh my god like all
the shit that fallout boy had at their tour and they did stadiums so like 8 25 000 so it's like
a fourth of that but it was like i'm like what the fuck is all this stuff it was crazy the amount
of stuff that they had the most exciting thing is when she like dives down into the yeah not great
i mean it was just jumping into a hole that you know a mattress is underneath yeah it's just i
think it's cool. She goes down and it's also like, I know everybody's going to come for me
about the limitations of the whatever, but I do think that her next tour, she should hire someone
different to design her, her set design. Wow. Well, you know what? Listen, Becca, I think this
is a very interesting take. And I think you've been, you know, we knew you're not the biggest
swifty so it was like having someone who's not a swifty right go and like the things that you
liked you like the things that you didn't like you like like I want everyone to give you grace here
because you're allowed to not like things yeah and you're allowed to like things like I think
you dislike it right I just that's the disconnect the tickets that we sat in that my sister like
full disclosure those are thousand dollar seats that's so insane so how close were you as close
as you can be without having to stand on the floor. Wow. Whoa. And I just felt like I wasn't
able to get a good gauge on it. I want, I'm curious to know like what people that are true
Swifties that spent that kind of money, how they feel. Right. You know, like that's to me, I'm like
that stage doesn't say a thousand dollars to take it to me. Here's the other thing is I'm gonna,
again, devil's advocate you. I would say as someone who grew up loving the theater,
theater, a big, like a big concert like that does not do it to me. I've been to multiple,
I've been to pink. I've been to like, I mean, it's hard. Yeah. Like the Coliseum is different
because it feels like a theater, even though it's like 5,000 seats, but you feel there's
something about, like, I just went to a show with Chris the other day and I was like, this is
massive, but it's like, it's so overwhelming. And there's so many people around you that
the intimacy of being at like a broadway show where you can literally see the person blink
and like a little just like a show get a little bit of water in their eye or something like i
live for that which is why i loved like when garth brooks did his little wind thing in the round like
i i think that there's something about it's so cool to play stadiums and it's so cool to be the
biggest artist on the planet and like bravo and you do what you can but you lose some of the
intimacy and I think as people who grew up in theater you like you're hungry to like be touched
so deeply in your soul but when you're that far away and everything is so big and you're under
the sky it's a different experience you're so right because I actually think if I would have
seen her at like the Hollywood Bowl I mean granted she's not playing these small venues anymore right
but if I had seen her in a smaller more intimate setting I think I probably would have been a
really big fan yeah yeah you know right like i think i would have gotten the i would have
understood like after watching the documentary i was like i'm a fan i'm a fan after her fans
started to scare me i was like well maybe i'm not a fan right i can like her and not be a swifty
right but yeah i think if i because when she would do her acoustic she did her acoustic set and like
that's when ed sheeran came out yeah i was like she is really talented yeah but this is what she
to me this is what i want to see her doing is playing her guitar yeah singing the songs and
like that's where the value is but then there's no intimacy so if i were to see that in a smaller
space i probably would have been like really really moved moved yeah 100 you're right it's
like i saw harry styles at the ryman auditorium in um like for an under when he just launched his
solo career and i think the ryman is like only 2500 seats yeah it was one of the best concerts
I've ever seen in my life. The acoustics are incredible, but like being that close to him,
you were like in this church with him and it was so crazy. I saw him play the forum
and I didn't think it was as good of a show, but I think it's because I crave that. Like
you want him to look at you. I mean, yeah, I guess. I don't know. Like I, a big show like
that. Like I don't like too many people. No, I totally get it. It's very hard to feel connected
when there's 95,000 people there. Okay. Do you feel complete? Is there anything you'd like to
say before we move on to Blake Lively? Yeah, I feel they're friends. So that's how that's a good
segue. Transition. It ends with us. People want us to talk about it ends with us. For those of
you, we got to know that a lot of people are not up on pop culture when they listen to the podcast
and this is how they get it. So I'm going to do a quick rundown. It ends with us is a Colleen
Hoover, Coho book. And before Colleen Hoover was this big thing, Justin Baldoni found the book
and optioned it and it's spinoff book and decided he was going to star and direct and write the
script for this book. Oh, I don't know that he found it before it blew up. Yeah. Before it blew
up, he found it, which is like the only way he just someone, no offense to Justin, someone like
Justin could have the rights. Well, that's what I was confused about. Yeah. Yeah. So he got the
rights. He got the everything to it. He made the movie. He cast Blake Lively. Then there have been
rumors since they were filming that there has been bad blood between literally now we got bad
blood, bad blood between the two of them that Blake didn't love the script. She tried to rewrite
it. She had allegedly Ryan rewrite it. Then they didn't get along. There's a story going around
Reddit, which I do not know is true that he has had a bunch of back surgeries and there was a
scene where he had to lift her and he asked her how much she weighed and she found that very
offensive. Like these are all person on set that the intimacy coordinator, how much she weighed
Because he has like a back thing and you can't lift more than 120 pounds, which like she's
five, nine.
So like, you know, anyway, so all of this stuff happened and then the movie came out
and the marketing has been berserkle berserkle.
So Blake has done this whole floral method dressing, which we talked about with Andrea,
which has been really fun to watch, but it was very strange as time went on because I
was like, they're never together.
Like the leads of a movie, you, it's like, it's like Glenn Powell and Sidney, they're
getting married yes they were not he's her literal like fiance was a pup you know but you want to
believe the magic we haven't seen them in the same room they allegedly when they did the premiere
they both watched it in different theaters with different people so they didn't even sit in the
same theater um he said nothing but lovely things she said nothing but lovely things but like the
rumors around it have been so bad that then it came out that he had hired a crisis pr because
there was like this takedown of Justin being so horrible to her and all this stuff.
A couple of days after he hired the crisis PR, all of these horrific interviews of Blake being
a real mean girl started popping up on the internet. So what, like the crisis PR people,
whatever they're getting paid, probably worth their weight in gold. So that came out. She has
yet to address these horrible interviews that came out. People are coming after her.
Well, it's not just horrible interviews. There's some stuff from the past, but then it's also just
interviews that she's done for the, they're like comparing the interviews that they're doing for
the movie. Recently she did this interview with Jake, who is a person I know that I've traveled
around the world, a very, very smart interview. And he asked her like, Hey, this movie is about
domestic violence. What do you say to people? And what are you going to do when people want
to come up to you and talk to you about this? And her answer was very like, and I actually wanted
to know Becca from you because like, I know that you have been asked the same questions over and
over and over again for a decade we've been in the room with you when you're doing press and people
ask you these questions and you're like what you want to say is i can't believe you asked me this
question again yeah but that's not a question she's been asked a million times as specific to
the movie but if this is a press day and she's on day three of press and she's probably unasked
about the themes of this movie for three days straight is there a point where you're just like
i don't care i'm just gonna what did she say to your friend she was like you're more than your
was that the one where she's like you're more than your
trauma she said what do they want
a GPS tracker they want to come to my
house the question was like what you know this
is a very serious movie it's about domestic
violence approach you yeah like what if they want to talk
you whatever and she's like it's a weird
question she's like you can
share my location or like do you want to
text me like it was very
very bitchy and like toned off as
answer should have been I'm
so glad that people
are resonating with this movie and this
is such tough topics. I don't know that on a red carpet, I'm going to be able to give these people
what I want, but I want them to know that I'm thinking about them and I'm always rooting for
them or something. No. And a big part of like, it's, it's comparing by like how the two are
reacting to promoting the movie. She's like, he's very thoughtful. He's like very serious about like
domestic violence. And then she's like, this is very performative. Like, let's be honest. He's
like, I'm also kind of, I'm, I think two things can be true. No, for sure. I think he could kind
to be a little bit of a weenie who's like a performative i mean he has a podcast about like
being a good man or something like right i don't know i feel like it's the type of thing where
if you're a good man you don't need a podcast yeah and i don't like it when any guy like his
his wife sorry i just cut you off i'll go back to this i'll go back okay sorry no and then and
then the way that she's promoting is like promoting her hair caroline she's like grab your
friends wear your florals and head out like it's supposed to be like a fun little like
yeah i was shocked when i saw the trailer and there's yeah because i saw all that and then i
saw the trailer and I was like, Whoa. Yeah. Yeah. It's just, and then now other interviews
are coming out. I mean, she just seems like a bitch. Here's the thing that I think I've never
done the amount of press that Blake Lively has done. I've done like a, like you're saying,
like a tiny little percentage. However, there are times when you actually want to look at somebody
and be like, this is the dumbest question anybody's ever asked me. And I really don't
want to answer it, but that's also part of the job. Like how we were talking about chapel rounds.
I was literally going to say that.
Yeah.
That is when you sign a contract, you actually, part of your salary for that movie or project
or whatever is actually built in those days of press where your job is to promote the
thing that you just worked on and all these people worked on.
So suck it up buttercup and be pleasant and do all the things you're supposed to do and
say the things, especially dealing with a domestic violence movie for her to have not
paid absolutely most, the most had the best media training and not in a manipulative way
or calculated way, but like talk to somebody who has dealt with domestic violence. Like
how am I supposed to talk about this? What is going to be triggering? What's going to sound
supportive? Like what do I do? Whatever. So she shit the bed, totally shit the bed, her PR,
like they've shit the bed. And I have a feeling she probably runs the show. So she's probably
paying PR $10,000 a month to basically just yes her to death. Well that, and that's a big thing
that people are saying too. It's just like the tone deafness and the complete disconnect between
her, between her celebrity and like real people is really showing through the whole thing. It's
like, you just do not understand anything that's going on in life with anybody. And with him,
I'm triggered by him walking out to do like a premiere or something. And his wife is there.
Who's a beautiful woman. His wife is gorgeous. She's like Swedish. And, and he did the thing
that really bothers me that men do. It's so performative where he walks out, everyone's
there to see him. It's his thing. And he like looks at her and he like presents her like she's
the, you know, the like hope diamond, you know, he's like, look at her. I mean, wow. And he's
like mouthing it. It's the same thing. I felt like anytime I, a guy introduces his wife as like,
you know, my better half, like she's out of my league, my hot, what? Like I won the lottery
with this one. I'm always like, there's some darkness there. You're, you're overcompensating
for maybe being a douche. Yeah. Doesn't make him a bad person. I don't think either of these people
are bad people. I think that they, she really fucked up, but everybody now is coming out of
the woodwork saying she's been a mean girl and she's been a bitch since gossip girl. Yeah. Do
I think that means she should have like her career stripped away from her? No, there's bitches
everywhere. There's assholes everywhere. Yeah. She, the only thing she should be held accountable
for is how badly she's disrespecting people who have had domestic violence in their lives. Like
she's an idiot how she's handling it but i don't think she needs to be canceled and thrown off the
face of the earth the way people are treating her she will be but people are coming for her i mean
they are ready to cancel but it's also a lesson in if you're just nice your whole career then if
you fuck up one time people will forgive you but the reason she's not being forgiven is because
it's been years allegedly of bad behavior percent well and it's people and it's getting like pushed
under the rug for so long and then it's like okay well now everybody has a fucking story
about how badly you've treated people. Yeah. And so what's so fun about this with all my like
journalist friends is that we are now on a text chain, all sharing our stories of like
what interviews we would love to leak. Because I'll be honest, like the publicist's job,
you know, essentially is to sit there. And after you do an interview, if their client comes off bad
or there's a question they don't like, they go in and they're like, you're not allowed to use that.
You're not allowed to use that. You're not allowed to use that. And so editing is their
friend because what shows up on TV is the edited version of like, we've all mutually agreed. This
is the person we're putting forward. But what's happening is because so many of these big stars
movies and TV shows not included because contractually they have to do press, but so
many of these huge stars, they're no longer talking to the press. They don't want to for
these exact reasons. So I understand, but what's happening now is like, I know two huge television
shows that just laid off their entire digital site. Like there's no people working there.
So what's going to happen now is the only thing that's going to be is that eight minutes you got
at that movie junket. Some guy's going to go in, upload it from scratch. It's going to sit there,
no editing, no thought it's going to live there. And so all of these very raw interviews are going
to start coming out. And so if you're not on your ball for all eight minutes, like I've had
be on your ball for eight minutes. I have, I have had so many interviews where people
specifically females, mostly females have been such absolute assholes. I had a very similar
interview that happened to the one that Blake got with the bump thing, like nice bump, nice bump.
And then they just, the two female leads just talked to themselves for five minutes so that
I couldn't get a question in. That's happened to me. It happened to me in New York. I can remember
it like it was yesterday it is such a bad feeling and it's such mean girl behavior it's like
petulant children because they don't want to do it it's the worst part of the job and you're taking
it out on people that they that interview with her was so bad i also didn't want to interview
about secret life's life of pets three i didn't give a about that movie we're all just doing our
job and by the way i waited i flew i waited six hours i prepared these questions buck up buttercup
exactly well buttercup is my new saying to your point that you've always said it's like my job
is to help you promote your movie. So it's like, it's not like I'm asking you for a favor and my
job is not to take you down. Like I literally don't care enough to take you down. Yeah. Truly.
Maybe if Diane Sawyer comes, she wants to make, I just want to do my job, give the children what
they want when they watch entertainment news and call it a day. Like I just did this interview,
Travis Kelsey. They're like, no Taylor, no politics. I was like, fine. Tell me about your
podcast. Like, I don't care. I don't care enough that I need to like run the world. Like I just
want to do my job this is reminding me of something so jane lynch when we did glee said
this thing about people when they get famous or rich like they don't become anything that they
weren't already it just amplifies who they were underneath it all you know what it's like taking
adderall it just amplifies you do you think it does but here's what i what i keep thinking about
with with blake lively so she and ryan are now so wealthy from all their business ventures
mobile they are he owns the soccer team she like they she has i watched this whole thing on
instagram about her betty buzz is her brand the drinks yeah no the drink oh no i know but she
named it after her daughter oh oh did she that's cute so she has all that she's got this whole
beverage thing he has like another tequila something some other whatever liquor they are
they're very, very, very rich, very rich. So she no longer needs to be beloved in movie in
entertainment because she doesn't need it to survive. Right. Her livelihood is no longer
movies. Granted, she's going to, she can do them and she can make good money, but all the money
comes from another place. Yeah. So this is actually showing, I think in my opinion, someone's true
colors because she, when you have no reason to behave well, there's nothing you're actually
going to lose if you don't behave on your best behavior and you're just being who you are,
then maybe at her core, she is a petulant child and maybe she's not an amazingly decent human or
like empathetic person. But she, all those years before she was really, really, really wealthy was
kind of keeping it together as much as she possibly can. But like it started to seep out,
but it's like, it's just amplified. I think maybe the person that's in there and I don't think she's
a demon i just think we want our celebrities we want to believe that all the things that we see
are genuine but like no offense when glenn powell actually that's not true glenn's a very nice
person but like sydney sweeney is lovely on a press junket because she needs people to like her
because she needs to pay for her 20 million dollar house yeah blake doesn't need it anymore
so she is who she is well we want to talk about the j-lo divorce but we don't have time
but we'll save that who cares honestly there's nothing to say there's nothing to say mic drop
I had so much to say.
You did?
