Starting point is 00:01:02 The Lady Gang. Things are about to change around here. Each week, we catch up with Hollywood's hottest girl posse, Kelty Knight, Becca Tobin, and Jack Vanek. Hello, hello, hello. Welcome to the Lady Gang. I am Becca Tobin, the Crypt Keeper, with Kelty Knight and Jack Vanek. I am so ugly today. I don't know what's happening.
Starting point is 00:01:24 I think what's wrong is I got used to using my salty, what's it called? Salty face tanning water, and I didn't, and I am regretting it. I was going to say it's definitely the spray tan. Anyways, bye guys. I also, I feel good because I'm also very ugly and my life force is incredibly low. Like I went to bed at 630 last night. Chris just looked at me, goes, babe, just go to sleep. and I was like, no, I want to talk to you after work. Like I have no, it was that one of those
Starting point is 00:01:57 days where I was like, I have nothing left to give. I can't use my brain. It's slop. So this morning I got up, I am wearing my radio city vintage denim shirt that I think a truck driver for radio city probably wore and a hat. And I have zits up and down my cheeks because why it's Oscars weekend. So of course I'm going to break out. Um, my eyebrow is grown in so long, but I'm getting them done. Anyway, it's we're hot. Jack looks great. Jack looks like she's like a little Kate Hudson-y going on. Oh, like your hair is so long, babe. It's in your vulva. Your hair is in your vulva. It's almost down to my butt crack, which is so funny because so is Jared's. I'm going to say something controversial. What? You posted a picture of Jared with short hair
Starting point is 00:02:42 recently. He looked fine. He does look cute with short hair, but he looks great both ways. He looks great both ways, but I was like, oh my gosh, because it's like a different man. I know. And it's so funny, too, because like he was a totally different person when we started dating personality wise, too. Like he really came into his own as we've been together. So I'm like, I don't even know that guy anymore. Like it's such a different, but he does look very cute. These are the things I get worried about with men and their ponytails, because like with Jared, it works for his job, but they just announced Mark Ballas as going into Chicago on Broadway with Whitney
Starting point is 00:03:18 and he's going to be playing Billy Flynn. And I was like, well, I literally sat in bed. Why do I spend my time thinking about this? I'm like, well, he's obviously going to wear a wig, right? But then they're like, what's the wig prep when you have that big of curly head of hair? You still do the pin curls under. And then a wig?
Starting point is 00:03:36 Like it's going to flatten enough? Is the guy like bald or something? No, but Billy Flynn is like Jared when he first started dating. Like he's got to have like a little. Does he have to? Yeah, for, like, the— It would be so weird if Billy Flynn had Mark Ballas' man bun. Yeah, it's, like, the 1930s or something.
Starting point is 00:03:55 It's, like, a very inappropriate— And, like, it'll take you out. It's, like, it's enough that he's already Mark Ballas. Like, you want to at least kind of buy in that he's Billy Flynn. Yeah. So he'll just do, like, when you wear wigs, they do, like, all these little tiny pin curls all over your head. His pin curl prep is going to be hours. He has thick-ass hair.
Starting point is 00:04:15 He is great. Jared hair, great hair. So anyway, these are the things I worry about. So with Jared, it's like, God, and you know, you know what you don't post, Jack, you really don't post your nighttime braids anymore. You used to and I could see it and I could be like, Oh, this is why like, the drain in your home must be. Oh, it's horrible. Oh my god, our brushes, the drain, everything. It's so bad. It's so bad. And I'm the one that gets all the gook out. I don't know why it turned into my job. Ew. I know. Your beard does pretty much everything else. Yeah. I'm like, I can just fish it out. Well, you've got those long nails. You've got the nails. I have such an aversion to
Starting point is 00:04:58 doing dishes. Like I think doing dishes is the nastiest thing in the entire world. Like old food on a dish grosses me out more than like poop, more than like puke, more than anything. So I'm like, as long as you do the dishes, I can fish out like the goopy hair that's like congealed with conditioner it's a dish no thank you um okay anyway it's it's time for good week yes it is bad week oh no okay so speaking of jared my good week is i have a new dream man i have a new celebrity crush a new hall pass this man to me is the hottest man in the entire world his name is peter claffey he plays the main guy on the new game of thrones show he's irish i have to irish six five ginger long hair beefy as hell used to play rugby and he just seems like the biggest
Starting point is 00:05:51 like softy in the entire world like claffey c-l-a-f-f-e-y i think and he was like he's you guys might not agree but he is so my type like he's got a little man bun i know his long ginger hair. There he is, Becca. I've been looking. Yeah. No, I'm like, I obviously have a type. Like this, I'm, I don't know. I've never been obsessed with somebody as much as I've been obsessed with him lately. Like this guy? Yes. He looks like Mr. Beast in that picture. No. Well, he does look hotter with a beard and hair. Yeah. He's so hot. And he's like, he seems so endearing and sweet, like a big softie. So obviously I have been stalking him and I've been watching all these videos. I have been going to his Instagram. He has a girlfriend that he's been dating for eight
Starting point is 00:06:39 years. So that bums me out. Not that I, I am married. Like, ah, damn. But so I've been like going through his Instagram, trying to figure out their relationship. She has a daughter, like not from him, like blah, blah, blah, blah. And then I go to follow him. So I'm like, okay, follow. Then I go to look at our mutuals. I'm like, I wonder what like people he follows that I know he follows Becca oh he follows you and Kevin McHale but like nobody else from Glee like I can't figure out what's going on let me go to his Instagram yeah see who he follows that you know was he on Glee no so then of course I googled his name you did an IMDB search no he hasn't done anything really before the Game of Thrones show maybe he's a Gleek you know I don't but Gleek
Starting point is 00:07:24 is not gonna follow leah like no no leah maybe he liked me and kevin's love affair on the show you know we had a beautiful who didn't we had a beautiful love affair but if you follow you yeah follow back isn't that so follow him no what yes what wait check your mutuals with him who else okay let me check the mutuals hold on oh my god i was so shocked i was like becca Not Kelsey. No, you guys. Not me. You know what, Jack?
Starting point is 00:07:54 Sometimes we do this and we shouldn't. We should know better. You can't doubt Becca. No. No, I know. I understand. Because like sometimes you'll be like. No, he's following Darren.
Starting point is 00:08:05 He's following Darren. Okay. Oh, he's a Gleek. That's so disarming. Yeah. Yeah, he liked Glee. Wow. He followed Naya.
Starting point is 00:08:14 Yeah, he liked Glee. Okay. So it's just no other Glee people that I followed. No. Don't tell Darren Criss. Oh, this is always so weird when you go on and you see and then it's like follow back. And I was like, oh, my gosh, I thought I followed this person like Lamorne Morris. Like, I didn't know I wasn't following him back.
Starting point is 00:08:33 So I'm going to follow him back right now. There you go. You just don't even know. You don't know until you look. That's fun. Yeah. So maybe he's a Gleek. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:08:41 That didn't seem very likely. Should we try to get him on the podcast? I would. I don't know what I would do. I got nervous even talking about him right now. I was like. what if he listens to the podcast he definitely doesn't um i yeah i would probably like freak the out i think he's he's cute he's just the dream okay so is this a good week or a bad week well
Starting point is 00:09:05 the good week is i i have a new obsession okay and then the bad week is that he follows back and not wait why is that bad it's one step closer i know i am one degree away do i follow back i always feel like this is an awkward thing. Yes. Just do it for me. Okay, Becca, what's your good week? I got to think about this. Let me think about this. Okay. She's debating. Okay. My good week is I had my colonoscopy. Round of applause. And? I hate to tell you, Jack, but they do it right here. My experience, because I was fully prepared to have what you experienced, we already discussed that i didn't have to drink the viscous liquids it was just the tablets and that was shit your brains out not not really really i think i have a pretty like she has a regular system though
Starting point is 00:09:57 yeah i have like a great it's a very like up-to-date modernized water slide in there you know what i mean um so i had like i was prepared to be like oh i have to be by the toilet I didn't have that at all like I definitely went to the bathroom and it was and you know when people have diarrhea and they're like I was peeing out my butt they don't know the definition of peeing out your butt this is peeing out your butt it is the weirdest sensation yes I've ever felt in my life well it comes out without you even trying yeah and it's like but like there's also there wasn't really a lot of urgency for me like I could have held it kind of like urine So I wasn't going to have an accident.
Starting point is 00:10:39 I could have done, lived my life. But I, it was, so the prep was great. And then I get there and they're lovely. I go into my, they give me double socks because they're like, it's kind of chilly in there. Double blanket. Wow. And then they roll me back and they've dimmed the lights. It's so, so dim and vibey in there.
Starting point is 00:11:01 It's mostly females, which I do love. and then um the the one uh anesthetist anesthesiologist no it's the the nurse anesthetist like because there's like the anesthesiologist and the nurse i'm not saying this right anyways he was the one administering my sleepy drugs but i'm on my side and there's a pillow and he literally takes the pillow and adjusts it better for me like so that my neck is so supportive and And then he's putting in my propofol and he's like, OK, take to take five deep breaths and just start thinking about something really nice you want to dream about. Did they not? They knocked you out completely right out cold. Yeah. Yeah. It's so weird. The whole concept of getting a colonoscopy is so weird.
Starting point is 00:11:49 I'm like, we get knocked out with propofol for them to like shove something up our butts. you guys and fish around they did take pictures they take pictures I took a picture of my internal hemorrhoids which we all shocker knew I had they aren't as bad wait did they find anything else or no you're good no I'm good so squeaky clean except for those internal hemorrhoids um it was lovely I'm so sorry Jack maybe for your next one you could come to Austin to have it done well I'm still fighting with insurance because they tried to charge me for all of the time that they up when they like remember because it was like the machines weren't working so i was sitting on that like yes the pan for like two hours they tried to charge me for all the no double socks the rent of
Starting point is 00:12:40 being in there because that's where all of the price comes from it's like oh 15 minutes is a thousand dollars but then you were there for 15 times eight this is a racket it was insane yeah so i'm still fighting with my insurance about that just think about the time that i had the hysterectomy and they knock you out and they literally flip you put you head down in this thing like ass up head underneath you legs in the air and then they chop you like it's wild Well, you just can't. I mean, even with my fibroid, they like spiraled it out of my belly button. I would love. Do they have that thing like in ER? I mean, I guess we're not students, but I actually would love to go watch some surgeries. I bet you can watch them on
Starting point is 00:13:27 YouTube. This is what people are screaming at right now. Oh my God. Every like, like once in a while when one of the plastic surgeons has like a full video where they like literally take the forehead off and they're like, and the inside of your head, like moving muscles around. I'm like, i like i said i can disassociate pretty well but like but then watching it actually watching it i'm like my friend here just did a little like mid midi like the little mid facelift yeah not under anesthesia how's that possible they just give you a lot of drugs oh but i but i guess it's a it's it's less expensive and it's also like less dangerous because it's like not going under anesthesia but but that's the best part I think I would agree but then I was like well I've been
Starting point is 00:14:12 like really willy-nilly with my propofol lately I think I'm like really racked up on it so yeah I'm thinking in a couple years I'm gonna go to there's a doctor here that does these like magical little like yeah really good yeah okay my bad week so speaking of facelifts I've been like just kind of struggling with this one shoulder you know because I'm 40 now and that's just what happens. So I go to lift Ford into his car seat yesterday and I'm like, oh God. And it like really tweaked my shoulder and I got him in the seat and I was like, ow, ow. And he's like, what's wrong, mommy? And I said, it's okay. It's just my shoulder. I'm just, I'm getting old. And he goes, are you going to die soon? No, no emotion. Are you going to die soon? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:14:58 Oh, my God. And I was like, well, I'm not planning on it. Probably not. He's just trying to prep, you know. If you could just be a little more sad, like if your tone could be a little more, you know, worried. Oh, Mom. Yeah, I know. Are you going to die soon?
Starting point is 00:15:15 Oh, my God. Cool. Wow. Ford really is your child. Yeah. Just deadpan. What do you think Ford will be when he grows up? Oh, good question.
Starting point is 00:15:26 God, that's tough to say. And not an athlete. He's got no drive. No competitive drive. No. No. But isn't he golfing? He is golfing.
Starting point is 00:15:35 Not that golf is like really a sport, but. So true. Don't tell Zach Martin that. Yeah, golfing is not a sport. I have argued with Zach so much about this. He's like, they're athletes, Becca. I'm like, oh, really? You could be 400 pounds and be an incredible golfer.
Starting point is 00:15:48 100%. And not be able to walk around the block. Because like, that's just, I'm sorry. It's a skill. It's not a sport. Yeah. Anyways. Yeah, he's a really actually very focused. He's very calm. He's very focused. So I think he's probably going to be good at golf because he's like, he doesn't have that like crazy boy energy that needs to like tackle something. That's nice for you.
Starting point is 00:16:12 Yeah, I don't know what he's going to be. He's certainly not going to be an actor because we had a meltdown at the doctor yesterday. A meltdown because you know what? He doesn't want to have to say ah when they open his mouth to look in his throat. he wouldn't do it it was a standoff like wow he is so what is with this guy this is like he he will not perform he will not perform so we were going to the doctor because he had like a sore throat I was like you definitely have strep throat we got to go we got to do the thing and so we went to the doctor and he said I don't he's like what are they going to do at the doctor I said they're going to look at you they're going to nothing nothing scary right they're gonna look in your throat he's like i'll do it but i don't want to say ah and i said okay you probably don't have to i don't know if that i don't know why you say ah anyway but apparently
Starting point is 00:16:59 it's to like get your tongue down so they can really look back there so then i knew we were in trouble when the doctor comes in but the little he brought the little stick out well they were like we don't want to have to use the stick part of me was like just get the mother stick because yeah and he's like opening his mouth and looking at the doctor and he's and the doctor's like okay okay, open up. He opens and she goes, okay, say ah. And he's like, shakes his head. And I'm like, buddy, just say ah. As soon as you say ah, it's done. She's not even going to touch you. Just say ah. It was two straight minutes of him would not. He never said it. Never said ah. So then did she just give up? She gave up. She's like, well, let me know. But this is a lesson to
Starting point is 00:17:45 him that he can continue to not do the things he doesn't want to do. I said, I was like, just give me the tongue compressor. I'll do it. She's like, no, we don't want to have to do that. And I'm like, I want to do that to this child. Oh my God. It's insane. He's never going to be an actor. Thank God. You know? Yeah. Okay. Well, my good week is, hold on. Let me just pop my drink here. You guys, first of all, I want to thank Clean Simple Eats because they know what is up because they've given me a big boy. I feel like the person, okay, so this is the, wait, this is the Clear Protein and Energy Paradise Punch.
Starting point is 00:18:23 Delicious. 20 grams of protein, but they gave it to me in a, you know, like when you drink a Miller Light at a music festival and it's like giant and you're like, yeah, I'll spend $9 on this beer because it's huge. is how I feel about this. Like for so long I've been drinking, they gave me half a little energy drink. I need this to last me all morning. I don't want to drink six of them. So thank you so much. You're delicious. You know, it's also great. Before a colonoscopy, you have to do clear liquids and they approve that because it's a clear protein. Oh, wow. That's so smart because you
Starting point is 00:18:58 can't really have anything that's protein. Exactly. That's genius. It's really good. And now I feel a little zip to tell you my story. My good week is that I am 63% through Lisa Rinna's book. And let me tell you, it does not disappoint. God, I love her. You know, Lisa Rinna, if you didn't watch the season of The Traitors, you need to go and do that immediately. But the thing is, is I love a down and out queen. like I didn't realize at the time that she was so upset about leaving housewives like I guess
Starting point is 00:19:34 because they you know when you get fired from a job or leave you know you you you're like I want to focus on something else like you know and so they made it they they calmed it but in the book you find out the real story behind her leaving and how mad she was she thought her career was over she was like I'm like all this stuff and then the fact that she's risen above but what makes the book so good if you guys need a summer beach read is that it is as if she literally recorded a voice memo for nine hours and then they printed it and no no one edited it like i mean i'm sure she had an editor shout out to her editor but they did not try to make lisa rena speak in english which as you know this is very kelty this is very kelty there's like parts of the chapters
Starting point is 00:20:18 of the book that just ends with and i said him and i never thought about him again and like that's the end of the chapter like there's no tie-in there's no wrap-up like sometimes she'll like she has all these asides in it like where she just is like yeah and then it was couture bitch and like that's the end of it do you know what I really appreciate about her and this is just an assumption because I haven't read the book but from what I gather I you know we're in an age of a lot of therapy a lot of therapized people a lot of self-actualization a lot of blah blah blah accountability. I love someone who does none of it. You know, like, I mean, I would never want to be in their life, but I just love observing somebody who has zero desire to improve upon
Starting point is 00:21:01 themselves. Well, that's the thing. And she talks about it. She's like, we're all in therapy. I've been in therapy. My kids have been in therapy. Like she, she really does talk about it, but she's like, but then I kind of am what I am. And then she talks about like the years that this daughter hated her and then and then it switched and this daughter hated her and um and she kind of oh there's like a little bit of tea where she kind of she's not calling out chris jenner i don't know if they're friends like i don't know or if she even means to but there's this whole section of like i don't go to my kids shit because i don't want to be lisa rinna when amelia's walking the paris runway so she's like even though i want to go and like be filming her i don't go because i
Starting point is 00:21:45 want it to be her thing. And she doesn't come to my shows. And like, it's just like very bizarre. It's so shady. But the greatest thing about the book is she really talks about how the sausage is made of the shows. So she's like, I'm just like, I can't believe Bravo's not going to sue her. And maybe they are. But she's basically like, yeah, then I sat down with Eileen Davidson and neither of us wanted to work that day. So I just looked at her and winked and then threw a glass of water in her face. Oh, my God. And so she's basically like, we don't want to wait for like a real fight to happen so we just were like let's get the out of here and get this scene done so we would just like fight like it was it's just a wwe like it's truly the more i think about it it really
Starting point is 00:22:26 is it's so wwe incredible um it's a great book so everyone should check that out very good read and i read a very heavy book before that that took me a long time to get through and then i was like i need it which one was your long one it's called um wellness and it's this story it's like uh it was it was very deep about this family and then like the dad and the dad son reconnect on facebook but they both like get deep into the algorithms of like it's is it the wellness community it's yeah no no it's it's fiction it's not true it's a story but they like they have this like relationship ship that falls apart and then they connect over Facebook but his algorithm is like giving him the dad's algorithm is giving him all these conspiracy theories oh and then the other one is giving all
Starting point is 00:23:15 the truth and it's like a play in what we deal with on the daily basis so amen but it was very deep and I was like is this book ever gonna end like it's pretty depressing but then I wouldn't figure I won't quit a book halfway through I'm not a quitter okay when we come back I'm gonna give you my bad week because it deserves its own segment in my class there's 33 of us what's it like there's not enough of anything the noise the packed classroom make it feel overwhelming and when i really need help there's not enough to go around i wish somebody would do something the ford government has cut 6.5 billion dollars from ontario's public schools since 2018 and our kids are paying for it.
Starting point is 00:23:57 Tell the Ford government, invest in our kids. A message from the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario. Mornings without coffee? Road trips without snacks? Starting point is 00:24:23 All right, we're back. My bad week is I had my identity stolen. And if you are up to date on Lady Gang, you know that a few weeks ago, I thought my credit card got stolen because I had gone on a shady website. I was incorrect. Oh, no. And I would now like to update you with the full story of how everything about me has been stolen off the internet. And I have spent nothing if not two weeks of my life untangling this wire. I also want to renege on something. I went on a tangent a few months ago about two-factor authorization and how annoying it is and how I don't want to authorize anything and I don't even want to pass code on my phone. I would like to renege. I want
Starting point is 00:25:06 four-part authorization on everything. I want you to have to scan my pubic hair. I want to have to give a little drop of blood every time I log in because these people are nightmarish. Okay. So here we go. A few weeks ago, I'm in LA and I went to a little dinner at Emma Greed, who is the founder of Good American and Skims. She's like this beautiful woman. She's like very top. Is she British? She's British. She's like gorgeous. She's super cool. She just launched a podcast. And so we like had this podcasting dinner and it was like, you know, Kate Kennedy, like a bunch of girly podcasters that live in L.A. and she hosted dinner. She really want to pick our brains. I'm like, great, I'll go. Her house is amazing. We had a beautiful dinner. Super fun. The next morning,
Starting point is 00:25:54 the next morning, I posted one story on Instagram saying, thanks, Emma, for hosting us and like tagged everyone. That's it. No one would have known where I was or what I was doing. creeping me out already you're gonna die when I tell you this story so then the next morning to my assistant email which is you only know it if you work with me or if I've said like someone's been like hey where can I contact you and then it's deep on my Kelty Knight website like it's not on my Instagram it's not I get an email from Emma's assistant no and it says and it's her email is bookings at emma greed.com so it's not even like a weird email it's like a perfect email it's not a gmail it's not like i made up an aol hey kelty um uh you know emma has a new book
Starting point is 00:26:47 coming out and she thought you would be great to she was wondering if you would host um a live stream with her to promote the book she's doing 10 in a row with females every night before the book comes out and she's going to interview about her life and business and stuff. So I write back and I was like, yeah, this makes perfect sense to me, guys. I'm like, yeah, of course I'll do this. And they're like, great. Awesome. Here's the dates she's available. It's going to be from like six to seven. It reminded me so much of COVID. Do you remember how like every night of COVID we did an Instagram live? Also, she does have a book coming out. Also, I just saw her. It makes perfect sense that she's asking me to do this. This is a female criminal, BTW. No man would ever be able
Starting point is 00:27:35 to put these things together. It's wild. So I'm like, okay, it gets even worse, you guys. I mean, okay. So then I'm just going to tell the story. So then I'm like, great. And they're like, okay, here's the dates that are available. So I pick a Sunday, the 1st of March. I was like, Sunday's great. Sunday night's awesome for me. And they're like, okay, cool. And then three days later, I realize, oh, I can't do Sunday night. It's the actor awards. Can I have March 3rd? And they're like, yeah, no problem. We'll switch it. So then my first, my first inclination should have been like, it was too easy to switch. This is Emma. This would have been booked up, but I didn't, I didn't clock it. I was like, great, easy. Great. Sorry. I fucked up. So they're like, cool. Have
Starting point is 00:28:12 you ever done, um, a Facebook live before a Facebook live collaboration? And I was like, no. And I'm still talking to the assistant email. And you know, I get thousands of emails a day. And I like, you know, you guys know how I email. Like, I'm just, it's all, you see it and you reply quickly, Tornado. I'm like, no, I haven't. I've done an Instagram live collaboration. Is it different? And they're like, yeah, it's a little different.
Starting point is 00:28:34 We need to go and set up the event in your Facebook. And I was like, okay. And they're like, do you know, do you see, do you see our event request in your Facebook thing yet? And I go in and I'm like, I don't see the event request. Now, this makes perfect sense to me because years ago when we first were touring Lady Gang, do you remember when Ricky set up events on Facebook for us? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:59 So I was like, this makes perfect sense. You got to see the event. So I go into Facebook. There's no event. I was like, I don't see it, guys. And they're like, oh, man, you must be having problems. Something must be wrong in your settings. I'm going to hook you up with Emma's tech guy and he's going to help you out.
Starting point is 00:29:12 And I was like, great. This is so elaborate. I was not expecting this. This is Ocean's Eleven. I'm so freaked out. So then I'm like, okay. I was like, great. You know what I love more than anything?
Starting point is 00:29:24 A tech person getting on and just telling me what to do because I hate it. A lot of times in our business, they will send a 10-page document that's like, go here, go here. And then I'm on step two. Connecting to your Facebook manager business account for an ad. And I'm on step two and I'm like, I don't see that link. Did you say, here's my login, just go in and do it? No. Okay, good.
Starting point is 00:29:43 I went. Then he goes, let me hop on a Zoom with you. Oh, she didn't do that. I'm like, okay. I hop on the Zoom. I hop on a Zoom with this man. There's a person? His name is Jeff.
Starting point is 00:29:55 And he's a man. He's there. He's wearing a baseball hat and headphones. He looks like a tech guy. He's also written me on WhatsApp. I can see here he's now blocked. He's writing me, hey, are you available for the Zoom? It's Jeff from Emma's team.
Starting point is 00:30:13 Are you available for the Zoom? Go, go, go, go. should have been a I know I was using whatsapp but who would even be thinking this no but you guys I use whatsapp so my entire this is what's interesting the entire women in podcasting chat is on whatsapp because it's people from all over the world and I was like oh he obviously Emma got my number off whatsapp like that also made complete sense so I get on the zoom with this man and he's like cool just share his vibe his vibe is his his vibe is like tech man and I'm like is this guy from like a different country like you know what I mean he's not giving American he's giving but
Starting point is 00:30:54 I'm like this makes sense she runs all these international companies of course she has some tech guy that she's paying from wherever like every you know he's in Vietnam or whatever like okay so is Facebook you know so I get on with him he's like can you just share your screen and I was like great so I share my screen I never gave him access to anything and he's like okay cool so we're just gonna go through a few things and like guys I'm I'm doing it but I'm not thinking about it and he's like okay you just need to click toggle over this talk over this all right I need a permission here toggle this toggle this and I'm like okay and he's like and then you just need to add me as a collaborator so that I can go in and, um, and set up the event. I'm like, okay. He's
Starting point is 00:31:36 like, here's the email to add. This is nothing new because when we did lady world, we remember we had to add a bunch of people to our Facebook. This does not seem weird. It's not that fucking crazy. And I'm like, okay. So then I'm like, okay, cool. And he's like, great. No problem. He's like, so you should see the event. It's going to populate within 48 hours. Just come back and check it. If you don't see it, let me know. This is like a week before the event. I'm like, okay, great. Thanks, Jeff. Bye. I get off the thing. Then in timeline, my credit card starts doing fraud. And I'm like, oh, I guess I went on this website. I was trying to buy this thing. I turn, I turn off. Wait, so this is not connect because you thought it was all coming from that
Starting point is 00:32:12 like sketchy website. No, nothing to do with that. This is different. It's completely different. Oh my God. So my credit card gets stolen. I have to turn my credit card off. I'm like, oh, that's so weird. Like very rare that like my credit card gets stolen, you know? And so then a week goes by and it's, I'm in New York. It's Monday. And I still am checking every day to see this Facebook invite. And it's not there. And I'm texting Jeff on WhatsApp. Hey, Jeff, I still don't see the invite. And he's like, oh, Meta's doing updates. Every time I ask him, he's giving me a thing. Meta's doing updates. Meta's doing updates. Go, go, go. Then it's literally Tuesday the 3rd. I'm in New York. I brought a light. I brought makeup. I brought an outfit because I was like, oh, I'm
Starting point is 00:32:52 going to be in this New York hotel room, but I have to do this live with Emma. I want to make sure I look cute. Like I brought my little tray for my, you know, everything. And I was like, hey guys, I still don't see it. And then I was like, I just had this feeling drop. And I was like, oh my God, this isn't real. And I go on the Women in Podcasting WhatsApp and I say, Emma, I don't know why I didn't reach out to you before, but am I doing a live stream with you tonight to promote your book? And she's like, what are you talking about? Oh no. Oh my God. This is the worst movie I've ever seen. You're listening to the Lady Gang. Then the women in podcasting group is like, Kelty, this is a crazy scam. But here's the thing. This is a scam. And I'm sure you guys have
Starting point is 00:33:42 gotten these scams before, but normally they say they're going to pay you. So I've gotten this kind of a scam like this before where it's like, Hey, Amy Poehler wants to have you on the podcast or like not Amy Poehler, but like the good guys podcast wants to have you on. And we pay $500 an hour for you to be a guest. Like, cause they want you cause you have a following or whatever. So anyway, these motherfuckers went in, whatever I toggled gave him full access to my meta suite where I could no longer, here's the thing. Until I told him to fuck off on WhatsApp, I could still get into everything. So he was just hiding in plain sight.
Starting point is 00:34:19 But when I went in, he changed his email. He changed the phone number for the double authorization. The two-factor authorization was now his phone number, his email. Every link, every password was his, but I was still there. So I was like in my Facebook, in my Instagram, I could still play on it. Once I said, hey, Jeff, I still don't see it.
Starting point is 00:34:39 And he goes, oh, I don't know. And I said, you mother, and he goes, what happened? And then I blocked him. And then I was instantly out of everything from Meta. They took my credit card. They took my social security number. They took all of my emails because I had four different emails over all my different accounts. They took every single one of my passwords to every social media account, Dropbox, Instagram, Facebook. The only thing that they were not able to hack was my TikTok, which is bananas. They got into my insurance. They got into my mortgage. They got into all of
Starting point is 00:35:09 my bank accounts. They got into our lady gang bank account. They literally stole everything. And then what's up is they went through my friends list and they found out who I'm friends with. And then they started sending scammy links to them. And then they started sending more scammy links to me from people that were my friends. So the only reason I figured it out is I got like an invite from this thing that was like not paperless post, but it was like post.com from Andy McNichol, who's our book publisher, a book agent who I'm working with now. And I was like, that's weird. Andy lives in New York. We're not like friends. Wait, I got that email. Don't open it. I did too. I didn't open it either. Do not click on that invitation. The only reason I didn't do it is
Starting point is 00:35:51 because I had just seen an Instagram story from my neighbor saying, hey guys, I got hacked. If you get invited to something by me, it's not me. Then an hour later. Wait, I might have clicked on it. Oh God. Oh God. It's like a weird paperless post. So then I was like, huh, that's weird. I'm not going to open that. And then I got one from the stylist from Superfan, who I literally haven't talked to in five years. And I was like, I can promise you that Kate is not inviting me to her birthday party. So then I wrote Kate and I was like, did you send me an invite?
Starting point is 00:36:20 She's like, do not open it. I got hacked. But now they're going through all these people that I know and sending it out to other people that I know. It's so dark, you guys. What the hell, dude? You guys, who? Okay.
Starting point is 00:36:31 So what did they do when they went in like with your mortgage? Like, what do they do? So basically they mortgage like my my Fidelity mortgage account that like pays my mortgage. It's like a separate bank account that they take it out of, you know. So basically they they took my credit card because I had a meta ads like, you know, when you boost a post or you we were doing Facebook ads for Lady World. They had my credit card there and that's how they took my first credit card. And then they basically figured out my passwords that were hidden. they went to reset a password and they must have something where they can see your old password.
Starting point is 00:37:07 And I'm an idiot. And I'm that girl that uses the same password for every website because it's easier for me. Like I don't ever do the make the hard password. I'm like, let me use Callie the dog 46, which is not what it was, but like, so then they went around and found all of my accounts, all the things that I follow. And they started logging in. And then I would get, I literally had to go step-by-step to every single one of my accounts. And I could not get into a single account because they're like, we saw suspicious activity. You need to call us. You need to call us. Every single account. Insanity. It's taken me weeks. I'm still not through it. I'm sure I'll see more. They stole $8,000 from my bank account. They charged $800
Starting point is 00:37:51 to Apple ads. No. My God. Anyway, the good part about this is this is a lesson to everyone, a, how good they are. And second of all, then I went through all the lady gang cards and I realized that we had some subscriptions we were paying for, um, that we shouldn't be silver lining. And then I realized I had subscriptions and then I made it a homework in the, like the little K type collective. Everyone was expecting me to be like, our first piece of homework is to manifest. And I was like, my first piece of homework for you is to go on your subscriptions and see what the you're paying for that you shouldn't be. Because I realized I was paying for something for a year that I wanted a year ago. And it was $800 of like monthly fees.
Starting point is 00:38:31 Where are we going to do that? Rocket money? Or where do you do it? I know. I just went, I went through subscriptions on my phone, like, you know, my app subscriptions. And then I went through my credit cards and I was like, what is this? What is this? Because this is how they get you is that everything is $19.99. Everything's $29.99. So you're not like, you know if it was $1,500 you'd be like oh you know I'm not I I know it's a privilege to be like oh $30 doesn't matter to me but like when they're all listed there it doesn't stick out the way it should you know but yeah some people said they use rocket money for that and it's a dollar a month or something I have a question for you like it if you freeze your credit does this get less aggressive
Starting point is 00:39:15 when somebody gets into I mean obviously not like your passwords for like social media but like your bank account and your mortgage. I guess you could do like a freeze. That's what we do. We, yeah. So we basically freeze our credit so that like, if somebody gets my social security number, they can't go and do anything. They can't open a loan because every time you go to open something, because like, there's only so many times that somebody has to check your credit. It's like buying a car or a house or whatever. So, so if somebody has your social security card not social security number and they want to like open up a credit card with it the credit card company won't open it until they've been able to do a
Starting point is 00:39:57 credit check and then they'll go in and they'll say there's a freeze on this you need to unfreeze it for us to be able to do this i mean that's a really good idea so everybody should do that and it's not a pain in the ass to unfreeze it either it's like so it's so easy to do it so it's really wise thing to do. I just went, I mean, that's super smart. I just, I went to like a little depression because I was like, I just felt so mad at the world that there's people like this out there. And I'm like, I'm pretty smart and I'm pretty techie. And so I'm always telling my parents, like, don't open things. Don't click on links. Like, this is insane. Anybody would have fall for that. Seriously. Fall for that. Like, it's crazy. But I'm like, I'm so mad because
Starting point is 00:40:40 those people got eight thousand dollars do you know what I mean like even if I have shut off anything they won did you report them and like do the whole thing yeah and and I I like reported it I mean Chris is like you should send because I have this guy's whatsapp number I'm like Chris call the number from your landline at work and see if he answers like I'm just so interested to know about Jeff and like what he's doing even his name it's definitely not his name but I just think it's like the weirdest I just you know what and then I just man Zach has been like talking his mom every single day about like what is a phishing email and what is a thing and what's it like it is so scary because I'll hear him talking to her about the things like with us with that
Starting point is 00:41:26 invitation he's like even if it says it's from your friend from church you have to check in with your friend before you click any link and be like, did you send me this? And like, it's just so sad too, because we're pretty savvy. But then if there's somebody that's older that literally learned how to use the internet in their middle age, there's no way they're not going to like be subject to this. And I think this is the most awful, awful, awful crime. Like I would rather you, and I mean, this is a terrible thing to say. I would rather you just come in a mask and rob me. I know that's horrible. But the fact that this man did this to my face, like do you know what I mean the fact that you met with him in person is crazy it's like that
Starting point is 00:42:06 is so insane I haven't heard about that before I feel so weird anyway I also want to do do you guys ever have this urge to for a while I did not use the cloud so I there's years in my life that were not saved in the cloud but I sort of want to stop using it again I sort of want to do the like hard drive bullshit so that if someone gets in wasn't the fappening on the cloud yeah my nude photos were on the cloud after that happened i stopped using the cloud so in 2014 i was like the cloud is bogus the cloud is easy to get into but that's how they got into my whole thing because they sent an email from apple and it was fully all the head like all of it looked so legit and it was like click this like for something yeah that looked important and then they got all access
Starting point is 00:42:57 to my cloud. Do you think we should just delete our clouds? Because that's another thing that really scares me. I mean, I'm not giving advice on this. Also, where the, what is the cloud? That is what's going to send me into a tailspin. Where is it? What is it? What, where is it taking up space? Great question. Seems fake. A data center? Thank you for coming and listening to my story. Please be careful if you get any emails from me or, you know what, the worst part about this, guys is that I told Emma and she was like, oh, my God, no, it's not for me. And then she is doing Instagram live. She didn't even ask you. It's like Jenny, Jeannie Mai and like different people like she is promoting her book. I had a weird dream about Jeannie Mai yesterday. That's weird
Starting point is 00:43:40 that you just said her name. Really? OK. Anyway, weird, weird, weird. But then I'm like she wasn't like, oh, my God. But do you want to do something like she didn't want me? Well, so you just got yeah anyway all right well we weren't here a long time no we'll see you next tuesday you jeff you jeff lady gang is hosted and produced by kelty knight becca tobin and jack vanek with social media support from collie carrera audio and video editing from jared monaco and additional support from steve delameter and podcast one
