Starting point is 00:00:18 Well, what is this? Welcome to the Lady Gang. That's amazing. Say that again. The Lady Gang. Things are about to change around here. Each week, we catch up with Hollywood's hottest girl posse, Kelty Knight, Becca Tobin, and Jack Vanek. Hello, hello, hello. Welcome to Lady Gang. I am Becca Tobin. You're with Jack Vanek and Kelty Knight.
Starting point is 00:00:40 Hello. I do feel like Callie is my dog because the way she's sitting right now, she's like, is the world going to end? Like, she's not fully relaxed. No, she's never relaxed. This is not a relaxed stance. She's very nervous. She's super nervous. Don't leave me, Becca, but she's yawning. She's defensive.
Starting point is 00:00:56 Yeah. My dogs didn't even get out of bed when I left this morning Normally when I get up And it's like 4.30 in the morning And I go get my shower going They'll get up and like stare at me in the bathroom Neither one of them gave a No it's too early
Starting point is 00:01:09 They don't care anymore They're used to this grind Mommy's working Alright well let's get right to it It's time for Good week Bad week I saw you looking at your list
Starting point is 00:01:25 i really can't even remember things i have to look at her right i have to write things down the reason that we can't remember anything is because we're always on our phones oh yeah i'm sure so my friend who's a neurologist i texted her this can be our this can be a good week okay because i did panic about a memory thing whatever i texted her i was like i think i might have early dementia or something like seriously telling her that i was like i'll have a conversation here in this room and then i'll go away for two days and something will come up that we talked about and for a million dollars i can't tell you who i talked to it about yeah and what where where i was like that's something's wrong she said no we all think that we can multitask multitasking is not
Starting point is 00:02:04 possible our brains do not actually ever work like that so when we're holding our phones in our hands and we're having a conversation even glancing down your phone it breaks conversation so you're not memory you're not remembering events conversations or people the way we used to because it's being interrupted by the phone in our hand our attention is shifting i believe it i believe that too lately i've been trying to if it's a dinner or if it's a whatever literally not even taking the phone out because even glancing it's not like you're like reading something and talking like even looking it can just be looking because your your focus then goes to see a phone interesting so yeah i believe that so it's a good week for all of us we're not
Starting point is 00:02:42 dying eyes when you're telling me your bad week so i can remember it forever never forget okay sorry jack go ahead okay well my good week is just about our guests today because um your doppelgangers there is a little bit of a story that came with it and how we got them on the podcast that i i want to share with everybody so if you've listened to our podcast obviously one of my good weeks recently was one of mine jared jared's engagement pictures went viral on tiktok because we were doing the shoot in the water and the ocean waves were crashing on us and the pictures were amazing I creative directed it no big deal and the pictures were great but the reason why it went viral is because everybody thought that we were Ali and AJ the singers the sisters two gals two
Starting point is 00:03:22 sisters um there were thousands of comments thinking that we were Ali and AJ so it went viral my best friend Anna Rose she's done her hair like a million times um she is really good friends with didn't she do their hair she's done their hair before too and she sent it to them and she's like oh my god this is so funny like everybody thinks that my best friend and her fiance are you guys like blah blah blah blah and they responded they're like we've been trying to get on the lady gang podcast for years they're like please let us on the podcast how have they been trying have we missed the messages because we love them because we've been trying to get them on too so it was like weird it was a and it's not like we have that many people working for us
Starting point is 00:04:02 no definitely lost in the inbox but it was so funny because that is the reason why they're coming on the podcast now is because of our viral tiktok of mine and jared's engagement photos so i thought that was a great full circle moment is the four heads of hair on you bitches i know between the four of you you could be like there's a hair care line in your future well i've been trying to get jared to get his jare hair oh that's genius i know hair care for long-haired men yeah does that exist anywhere i don't oh hair by jare hair by jare hair by jare okay i don't know if anybody j-a-i-r jerry curl jare that's actually pretty good too you can be like chas dean and then it's just like you and the wind on the billboard oh my god chas dean i would love this so much that
Starting point is 00:04:46 is a moment in time okay okay my bad week is oh well you know the facebook group from my apartment complex or reselling stuff the newest thing that somebody was trying to sell is two opened jars of pickles well that is upsetting it's upsetting is this a joke no did anyone take them that's an expensive apartment building like if you yeah can't just throw out the pickles you should not be living on the marina okay no it is very interesting jared did anybody take those pickles the last we saw nobody has answered about the pickles do you want to know something else about pickles what if you get the right kinds of pickles they can count as one of your prebiotic foods um you know like you're supposed to have miso or seaweed salad sauerkraut sauerkraut and
Starting point is 00:05:34 sauerkraut's disgusting like no one's like sauerkraut you do that's probably why you're so healthy i love it it's really good for you i have to have one fermented scoop of beets and one which i hate and one fermented scoop of seaweed salad i like a seaweed salad so good i like it at a sushi place but like to buy it in a jar it's not as good a day and it's like a you eat it like it's um a medicine but it's just to eat yeah but anyway pickles count but you have to get the special pickles that say they're fermented fermented pickles yeah i haven't tried them yet because i thought i was doing the good work of my health by just eating pickles all the time but i was just eating regular old classic dills god i love a dill pickle my bad all right who's
Starting point is 00:06:12 next um i'll go so my bad week is that i got called out on instagram by a lady gang listener and you know what i'm here to eat crow because i made a statement a very bold statement devil's advocate this is the opposite i'm really claiming when i get up right yeah yeah is that right yeah yeah so you're i'm peggy exactly that's it yeah that's it that's it so i on the uh episode with the beautiful sports illustrated model i was like i don't wear one pieces like i never have never will however someone on instagram was like the becca that doesn't ever wear a one piece huh and she sent me two posts of myself in one piece bathing suits which equally shocked me too and one was from my honeymoon which i feel like doesn't really count because like it was like this
Starting point is 00:07:07 really high whatever and it was for the sake of a picture because it was my only white bathing suit that i brought with me okay granted you know whatever she's still not wrong she's right And then the second one was actually a one piece that I brought to Mexico with me that was sent to me for free by a PR company. And it was a really pricey bathing suit. And I love the girl who does the PR. So I actually just literally put a bathing suit on for four minutes for a photo. Oh, so both photo ops.
Starting point is 00:07:37 Both photo ops. But she's not wrong. She's not wrong. In my daily life, I do not pack a one piece to go to the beach usually. Yeah. but you know she's i like i like that they hold me accountable that's right i actually remember is one of them you did in malibu right the full piece one was it like crocheted that was for a photo shoot like i wasn't didn't choose that one right but that was yes there was another picture
Starting point is 00:07:59 of me in one piece but it's also because you want pieces it's also because i'm just not choosing to take a picture in any bathing suit whatsoever and so like the ones that do end up on the instagram it's for more of a favor or friend or fashion fashion whatever it's a modesty yeah bathing suit if you will and my good week is that you did a good week oh oh it's fine you can do another one sorry do another one do another one do another one no i'll save it no no it's fine no no it's totally fine i want to save it anyway it's not a big deal no i know i feel weird no no it's totally fine no just go please jack you pick how are your sconces tell us please go ahead guilty well or what about your jar the beets that you eat every day that's also
Starting point is 00:08:40 riveting i was actually riveted by the pickle thank you yeah it's amazing i like something for everyone okay well this also has to do with something i ate um my bad week is that i um i'm living a 70 30 lifestyle where 70 of the time i'm doing what makes me feel best the healthiest version of myself 30 of time i'm still ape shit terrible and this is the way i'm choosing to breakfast lunch and dinner choosing to live my life this way and so on one of the times that i want to say a week ago you said you were in 80 20 life really i do i think there was and you know what the bitch that called me out on the one piece i dare you to go find that where she says i'm doing an 80 20 either way it's close it's like by bitch i mean i love you but go ahead it's mostly and
Starting point is 00:09:31 then some not so at work at the nbc cafe we have a beautiful cafe and they have an entire pastries jar situation there and i've never eaten a pastry from there because i'm like i don't want to get in the habit of knowing a delicious pastry is there that i can have every day i was like no i'm only going to try to have the healthy thing so i was going out to shoot and i was like i need to grab and go so i got a chocolate croissant and i was eating it in the car the pa was driving me she's lovely and i'm eating and eating and i was like it's so weird that it's pink inside like i'm looking and I'm eating pink pink I was like so weird and then I look and I was like no it's pink because that's ham it's ham how could you have mistaken a chocolate croissant and had one bite
Starting point is 00:10:13 and not I remember opening it and feeling like wow I kind of got gypped there's not a lot of chocolate pieces on this wait so did you eat any of the ham you know the ham was like in the innards and then I still ate around I ate around and then I did have some bites of the ham and I was like this is so weird. And then I, when I realized it was nothing like chocolate, well, I haven't tasted meat in so long. Like this thing has happened to me when I was in Dubai too. When I had that piece of meat by accident, I don't know what meat tastes like. It just tastes like, like, I don't even know. Yeah, I get it. Yeah. So I had the ham and I was like this and I was so disappointed because I was like, you know, listen, first of all, I'm wasting a croissant now on the ham. It's wasting a bad
Starting point is 00:10:53 eating so anyway so then later on in the night so my good week is later in the night it was a very long day so i went back because i had to throw out most of that i went back and i was like no i'm having a chocolate croissant today so i ordered the chocolate croissant i went in my dressing room i ate pounded that and i told the lady i was like the last one i had ham so make sure you give me a chocolate one she's like oh my god i'm so sorry do you want it for free i was like no no i just want the chocolate i ate the chocolate croissant and then i had a huge realization croissants aren't good yes they are you had it what from the nbc cafe i mean that's your first croissants are literally like the second best dessert in the world i think a croissant and almond croissant
Starting point is 00:11:30 there's so much flakiness no that's the best part you know what we're gonna be in paris soon yeah we'll do that we'll do a taste test you need to bring your nbc croissant with you every time i go to france i get a chocolate croissant every day you know who has an amazing chocolate croissant starbucks delicious delicious almost as good as a french croissant it's the most underrated bakery in our nation i say this all the time a thousand percent their food coffee cake get out of town i would use that as a wedding cake if i were you their chocolate chip cookies are also one of my favorite chocolate chip cookies i love starbucks food wow jared says it's 3d printed food he's like it's the best 3d printed whatever either way they're doing it and
Starting point is 00:12:14 they honestly, Starbucks never gets it wrong. They don't have a ham croissant. By the way, nobody wants a ham croissant. I think they basically do. Okay. Well, anyway. All right. A ham and cheese croissant is delicious. It's also delicious. Yeah. Let's get to your ladies. Okay. Let's get to your doppelgangers. Are you feeling a little extra stressed lately? Starting point is 00:15:25 more at poise.com stay dry out there now back to the lady gang our guests today are american music award-winning and best-selling music artists actors and hair idols their hit song potential breakup song was named one of the 10 best songs of 2007 and sold over 1 million copies and during that era you could get almost anything with ali and aj on it from hello kitty dolls to nintendo games to books to accessories to makeup to jewelry but now taylor's not the only one doing it hashtag taylor's version after their songs became tiktok trends galore they've been re-releasing some of their biggest hits and subtitling them the a and a version these sisters have used their powers for good supporting so many charity causes including plaid parenthood and the trevor project
Starting point is 00:16:11 please welcome to the podcast jerry and jack just kidding ally and aj jerry and jack i love it guys. Okay. So Jack, tell us the story of how this all happened today. So, um, obviously I am getting period this year and all of my content is wedding content. We did a big engagement shoot where Jared and I were in the ocean. The waves were crashing behind us. We're sitting on these really cool chairs. And obviously we have this big flowing hair, the two of us and the video went viral on Tik TOK. And it's not because of our gorgeous pictures. It's because everybody thought it was a new Allie and AJ promo. Everybody thought that me and my six, one very, very beefy ginger husband or fiance was you guys. And I loved it so freaking much. And then we have a mutual
Starting point is 00:17:01 friend, Anna Rose. She does both of our hair. She's my best friend and she connected us all together. And then the rest is history. Yeah. It's such a sweet story. It's amazing. I love Anna Rose she did my hair on an indie movie years ago and then she also was very much involved in like the weird cycle of music that Ali and I were in before we like found our sound again we went under the she was in this weird limbo moment yeah we went on a band named 78 Violet and she was like very much a part of that era of our hair yeah and she's such an incredible her her braiding is like I've never seen yeah I'm like she should have done all the braids for Hunger Games like just the most insane braiding. She did, she did work on hunger games and she braided my hair for my wet when I
Starting point is 00:17:42 got married. Really? Yep. She's a braid queen. Yeah. She's a braid queen. Anyway, she's our connect. And yes, I'm so glad that she brought us together and the viral moment is epic. We were saying maybe I'm Jack and Allie's Jared. Um, so yeah, but cause just cause the darker. Yeah. Yeah. I feel comfortable with that. It's those natural waves too. You know, I'm assuming yours are natural they look so nice i mean i mean i wish that they were even more defined but like i'll you know i'll curl it out but i feel like he probably does not his hair isn't saying like he's got no yeah he just wakes up like that and sleeps on it and it's just beautiful but you know he can give everybody some hair does he have a full hair routine that he does like daily that's
Starting point is 00:18:22 like i make him do it and i braid his hair every night it's like our little bonding experience like we'll sit in front of the couch or in front of the tv and i'll braid his hair put the oil in it and like he's always had long hair no I made him grow it out he had like a military haircut when we started dating what but this is iconic how long have you been dating five years okay that's five years of hair growth five years that's that's that's how you can count your all your anniversary uh exactly it's like the rings of a tree are just like in his hair so if I poisoned him at any point you could like tell throughout the hair growth but yeah well I I personally loved the seven, eight violet era. Um, but I'm happy to have you guys back in your, in your, uh,
Starting point is 00:19:02 Allie and AJ era. Why do you think that, um, TikTok is blowing up, but like, why do you think everyone is everyone who grew up with you loves you, but everyone now is rediscovering you like all these new fans. And I have an idea that everything is nostalgic because the world as it is kind of sucks. But why do you think people are like rediscovering or like really into those things that they were into when they were growing up? I think there's like a safety behind it. Like it feels like a safe space. I think it brings you back to like simpler days. You're not associating with all of the stresses of being an adult. So I'm sure some of that is in there. And, you know, I think, I don't know. I think that like, like you said, TikTok has become this platform for
Starting point is 00:19:53 people to discover things for the first time that have maybe literally been around for 20, 30 years. And you're like, wait, what? Like this person's just discovering this now, but I guess that's just how social media works these days. Like something can be new to somebody that might be like tried and true for someone else um and i mean we you know we we didn't really know that much about the platform like when this kind of viral thing happened with potential breakup song like obviously we knew about tiktok but we weren't active on the platform at all whereas now like we post we're not we're not crushing by any means but we're like trying to put up some stuff that we think is funny or random or cute. Um, but we're not like making
Starting point is 00:20:37 this like our daily job. I was just like, I don't know if we can do that, but, but it's been really fun. And like the videos that do do well, always like surprised me where I'm like, Oh, I guess that really connected. People thought that was really funny. Um, but I think the thing about TikTok that people love is that it's like random, it's random. Nobody has to take themselves seriously. It's not like curated to the point where everything is about aesthetic, which I is nice when so many other platforms are about like, look at how beautiful and perfect everything looks. So I agree. But I think the cool thing about where the career has gotten recently is that yes, nostalgia is a big play. Like that's very much a part of our fan base because our fans
Starting point is 00:21:11 have followed us from their teen years to now their early thirties. But I think also we've noticed that fans are really, really dedicated to the new music, which to me shows that there's, you can do both. Like you can be a band that really reaches for the past, but also be a band that is really present. And I think that people's respect for the current music is what really makes me excited because then it means that this is beyond nostalgia and it's actually like pushing towards the future because we want to be making records for years to come. So if you're just a nostalgia play, it's like, there's not really a future. Whereas I feel like we have the past and the present on our side, which is really cool. Yeah. No big deal. Cause you're going to the
Starting point is 00:21:46 Greek theater. You're going to play the Greek, which is like, you know, one of the greatest freaking places to play in los angeles we cannot we're absolutely thrilled september 8th we cannot wait i mean you know the tickets are are selling really well which i think was a little surprising to ali and i because we've toured a lot in the last couple years so we weren't sure how many people would even be interested in seeing us again it was a bit of a like it was definitely a bit of a risk for us just because it's it'll be our largest headline show to date um you know since coming back to music, but like people are, are stoked about it. And I think we've at least curated like a cool night with having Vanessa
Starting point is 00:22:24 Carlton open, which I think again, is like a cool throwback to an era of music where I think female singer songwriters were really celebrated. Yeah. There was only like a handful, but you know, people really connected to her music. And I know we definitely did as, as songwriters. So to have her come out and play, you know, her, some of her old stuff and her current music i think will be a really fun way to just tie up the night yeah to just be under the stars and i think the best venue in los angeles yeah it's the
Starting point is 00:22:56 best it's just our favorite and we've seen so many shows there so yeah i mean our fans got us to the greek we we literally joke that we're like that movie is us they got three yeah it's crazy i was just gonna talk about the nostalgia thing because my fiance is in a band too he's like in a band emo band that was big and Warped Tour and all that kind of stuff and there's so many artists that are stuck in the nostalgia part of it and they tour off of it and that's like their thing and so many people have tried to put out new music and it just does not hit the same way they're really lucky because their fans like are with them through all their different eras and have made it but I see that as him as an artist and artists around there like it's hard to get
Starting point is 00:23:37 yourself out of that pigeonhole especially if you have like the one song that like everybody knows you by like it almost it's kind of like becca's talked about it with her career and people that have been on glee and shows like that where you're known for this one thing and it's so hard to break out and do anything different so i mean huge kudos to you guys because it's really really hard oh thanks yeah it is not easy i think it is like one of those things that just takes time a lot of patience and just grinding with the touring i think that's a combination and then actually putting out music that is actually good and and is connecting to the time that it's been put out like that it doesn't feel like it's dated from the past so it feels like it's an updated
Starting point is 00:24:19 version of okay i knew i fell in love with this band for this reason but this is the current iteration of the band now and i think you're right like i think a lot of boy bands i think got stuck in that genre and it's just like i'm sure they're still making money and they're touring but it's like they're putting out records and nobody's really listening to those new records all they want is the stuff from 15, 20 years ago. Exactly. All right. So we need your advice because, um, we saw your interview when you were on the Kelly Clarkson show. And, um, I feel like there's something called CBA and that the lady gang could possibly be needing to bring this into our repertoire. And I know there's a lot of friend groups out there, family groups out there that
Starting point is 00:25:00 are listening that possibly need this as well. Can you please explain CBA? So CBA is just to give a disclosure is not patented by us. I wish it was. It stands for can't be argued. And the reason we found out about CBA is because the national uses this specific. And they've spoken about it. They've spoken about using it. I don't know if it's still currently active in their band. It might not be, but we're making it famous again, in my opinion, because we have so many friends now that come to us and they're like, we're using CBA. And I'm like, this is brilliant. It's like, this is spreading. And I'm glad that it's spraying to lady gang. So CBA is can't be argued. You know, you have to set the boundaries as to how often it can be used for Allie and I
Starting point is 00:25:41 were, we're kind of those people because we are in business together and we work together like you guys every single day, it can be overused. So you have to kind of figure out, okay, when can I actually use this? And when do I step aside? But it basically, what it does is it gives you this past that okay we might not be agreeing on the same thing creatively I am pulling the CBA card this cannot be argued the band has to agree that this is moving forward but you but but I think we use it or we try to like a good example is like we're in the studio we're making a record you know there's a song on there that like I'm vibing and AJ's like I feel like we should just cut this and maybe we don't fully and I'm gonna and I'll be like all right maybe do I use my CBA for this
Starting point is 00:26:22 like okay let's let's do it this is the this is the one song that we you can't cut and that'll be kind of my my pass that i can use for the the whole record the whole record creation but i feel like cba can be used in in many ways like it could be like there's a cba that's used for for the promotion of the album there's a cba that's used for the creation of it there's a cba that's used for merch yeah exactly gets a cba which bucket or vertical in your business can have a cba but you can't just be like you can't be like cba like every day like it just it can't but we don't use said even that much because we actually agree on a lot of stuff um which is which is good i guess because i think if we were constantly butting heads it would be a hard partnership but we have
Starting point is 00:27:02 very similar tastes we have very similar taste on like music on vocal comps that are chosen um on like you know i don't know like composition of a song um arrangement arrangement like i mean everything, mix mastering, like all of those things were usually on the same page. Every once in a blue moon, we'll, we'll have a disagreement, but like, I would say 90% of the time we're like, Oh, I was going to say that too. And for you and for us, it's usually used on a song that maybe the other one didn't believe in or the other one started it. And so it was maybe not as connected to the other sister, you know, for whatever reason. Anyway, we stole it from another band, but we're spreading the word and we're making it famous. It's basically like
Starting point is 00:27:44 deciding what hell you're going to die on, but you only get one perfect. Yes. Well, this is a good time for me to, um, bring you into pull a CBA, bring you into a conversation that started a couple of weeks ago. I am the only one of the three of us that has a sister and the three of us were like a band. And because we've been doing this for so long, it's been, I don't know, since 2015. Um, it's a lifetime. And like, we look at each other like sisters. We're very much, we've spent so much time together and we know each other, you know, through and through. And so I found in like the last couple years, if I'm being honest, that I have a way of communicating with them where I'll catch myself. And I'm like, I went too far. Like I went, I got,
Starting point is 00:28:28 I got a little bit too confrontational with this thing, or I went below the belt, like in it. And this is still a business, business partnership. And then I was talking to a friend of mine and she said the reason you're feeling this imbalance is because you're a woman with sisters and the way that women communicate with their sisters is so savage and i can look at my sister and be like i want you to fall down that flight of stairs and maybe not make it but i also want to have lunch with you in an hour and laugh yes oh my gosh you nailed it it's so dumb it is it is and and i think we even talk about how like you're so right we can be too harsh with each other in front of other people that we're like working with. Yeah. We'll be like, we should not be just so
Starting point is 00:29:12 like, no, I'm guilty of it for sure. We both do it to each other. Like we'll do it. And I would say mostly in band rehearsals, probably when we're the most like tough on each other, not really in, in the studio, I know the studio, we're pretty good. Sometimes when we're writing sessions, we can be like, no, I don't like that. That's a bad idea or whatever, but, um, it can be savage for sure. And then people around us are like, Whoa, you guys talk to each other. Like you hate each other totally and you're like no you're like no this is just how we are but but but it's also i think like you said it's very unique to sisters like even how uh a brother and sister relationship is is very different than sister sister relationship like that is it's same sex
Starting point is 00:29:52 it's female energy it's like it's different yeah and we have a deep loyalty like women in general not just women with sisters but women in general like we're born with i think a deeper loyalty so then when you have like the this foundation of sisterhood and that loyalty you feel like you can say whatever is like anything it's true and you forget that there are people out there who didn't grow up like that and so it's like something i'm just so i'm very jealous of you that you're working with your actual sister and it's it's reciprocal and instead it's just me being a bitch some days. Right. We love you. Can't be argued. Can't be argued. Yeah. I mean, you guys, obviously, like you said, it is like a sisterhood. So, I mean, yeah, it just doesn't come with the
Starting point is 00:30:41 actual blood tie of, we are related, but you know, I think that that's the beauty of like working with people that you love is you can build that bond. And next thing you know, it's like, it is a sisterhood. Like you guys probably consider each other sisters now, which is really can't be argued all right when we come back uh why are these girls normal angie's list is now angie and i'm so glad that they are partners with us on this podcast because you need angie and i need angie and they've made it easier than ever to get all of your home projects done right so if you're anything like me you've probably bitten off more than you can chew and if maybe your dad is not in town or your husband is not handy and you need some say for me right now wallpaper hung

All right, we're back. A lot of times when people come on our podcast, we ask them their ish moment and their Hollywood heartbreak. So I want to know what's your ish moment. I think it's like
Starting point is 00:34:38 playing the Greek, but live your life. You guys can choose whatever you want, but like, what's that moment where you're like, you know what? I've been working my ass off since I was a kid in Hollywood. I made it. I feel like respected, happy for this one second before my world like takes over and I feel insecure again. And then what's your Hollywood heartbreak? What's the thing that you guys were up for that you were supposed to get either one of you separately and that it didn't happen and that it just broke your heart. There's a lot of those. We just start sobbing.
Starting point is 00:35:06 My whole life would be different. Most of it we've gotten over. Although some things still hurt. I'll give you one because I think it's interesting. Okay. It wasn't like I had booked the role by any means, but I got very far and very towards the end. And it was, I think during the pandemic,
Starting point is 00:35:21 I want to say, yeah, because it was like the version of us doing like screen tests via Zoom, which is also a ridiculous i'm sure becca you know how insane this request is um was uh hacks so that's uh it's been an interesting one but but i mean we couldn't be more different as people like just from the gene smart role yeah the gene smart role yeah um just you couldn't be more different as actors how we look just our energy whatever but um i think that was a bit of a hard want to um me i'm not gonna say the name of the project because it feels weird but but it was a voice campaign and it was between me and reese witherspoon oh shit she got it god damn it it's
Starting point is 00:36:08 weird too because you look like reese witherspoon i know both of them you look like you could be her child i used to get yeah what about you gosh my big heartbreak was like when glee ended i was like convinced that the only job i would ever get again is if i were singing and dancing again because it's like the only leg up that you have right pun intended um and they did the rocky horror picture show and i spent like six hours in a room with like a couple other girls dove cameron you know like kind of that that world of girls who sing and dance and whatever and we all like sang and danced our hearts out and we were upset i was like i have to get this i have to get this i'm never gonna work again if it's not this and then they announced that it was victoria justice
Starting point is 00:36:47 who wasn't even in the room with us for those like six hours right it's always amazing when it's someone that had no involvement in the final right yeah yeah but i get i get the feeling of that like you said like knowing okay there's only like a handful of us that do sing dance act yeah and like this is my like this is my calling card in a way so then when you don't get it you're like well what the like what do i book then that's the thing but also nothing to get too upset by in the sense that it wasn't like a game changer no I was I'm a petty bitch and I was so happy at flop I get that I get that I'm always like okay like I need to watch this because sometimes you're like okay I actually get it like this worked this way and I need to just be fine and come to peace with
Starting point is 00:37:33 it and then other times you're like I'm sorry but I still would have been better than this you know like so it's funny when you do watch the project and you finally you know get the nerve to end up watching it and seeing it. And then sometimes, like you said, they don't, they don't end up coming together or being as successful as you dreamed in your mind it would. And it makes you feel a little better. Yeah. It's so different because it's not, you're never up against someone else. It's like, no, maybe for like a festival slot, like they might be interested in another band that brings maybe a different audience and that you might get it if they fall out. You're in your kind of own insular. Yeah. It's actually really comforting that it's such
Starting point is 00:38:07 an opposite side of our career, because if they were both that same hustle, I think it would actually be really demoralizing. Yeah, totally. Okay. My last question is a little bit of a bummer, but I think you would be a miss to talk about you and the fact that, you know, when you, when you look at what you're doing, wait, I said that wrong. It's not that much of a bummer. Everyone take a deep breath. Um, when you look at what you're doing and how you guys have stayed hustling and, and, and, and fed your fan base for like 20 years now at this point, you know, Um, it's, it's very remarkable and it's actually hard. We were talking about nostalgia for me to think back to like that you actually were a part of that Disney machine. And I guess my question
Starting point is 00:38:52 is like, what, what was it or what is it about that? That's so traumatizing and how to, why does some people come out of that machine so messed up mentally? Like it just affects them and traumatizes them. And then how, how do you come out of it? And you guys are relatively normies, like your normal people. Yeah. I think, and AJ can add to this, cause I know you have your thoughts too, but they're probably shared because we literally like think the same stuff, but I believe that a large reason is one and probably number one is parents. I think there's really, it's really, there's, I mean, and, and it's, I understand that there's kids that want to get in the business and are truly like passionate and, and, you know, uh, they're super precocious and
Starting point is 00:39:37 they're like stoked to perform for people but I think that you don't have full control over the decisions that you can make because you're a child so your parents are making some of them for you and that's I think where I can get a little a little blurred lines and I think that kids coming from the Disney Channel a lot of them I think have really scary stage parents like and so it messes them up whether they you know would have maybe been messed up kids regardless and not even in the industry and would have just still had a weird kind of tough childhood. But I think that's number one. I agree. I agree. From our perspective, it's hard to blame the company because I believe that we had a really good experience. So in a way I feel like it's how you enter it. Like if you're
Starting point is 00:40:20 not a stable unit as a family and you don't have some sort of normalcy going into it, you're going to exit weirder than you entered. So like, I think it's more about like home life. Like I agree with Allie, like, I think if you spoke to like a therapist about, you know, the kids who have entered and exited Disney channel, they probably say, yeah, there's some flaws within every company, but like at the same time, like Allie and I were treated great. Like I really don't have many things to like, look back on and go, wow, that, that really messed us up. It's more like we had really solid parents who protected us. And I think that that was our leg up. And we also had a really great team. You know, we had an amazing business manager from a young age, amazing attorney from
Starting point is 00:40:59 a young age. Like we had all the right representation. Yeah. And people that didn't like, let a lot of it's locked. Yeah. Some of it is locked. And then just not letting a giant corporation completely take advantage of you. You know, even though it's like, obviously they're working with kids, but they're also like, we want to make money at the same time. So like here, sign your life away. And sometimes, you know, I think there's kids that, that did do that because they had no other choice to, and then other people that are like, we're going to just drag this out as long as possible and litigate this, you know, till we're happy with, with a deal. But I think that's probably the number one thing. And then honestly, if I'm being completely honest, I think
Starting point is 00:41:35 we, I mean, we had success with the channel, but if you look at us in the grand scheme of everybody else has come out of the channel, I don't, I think we're kind of in the middle. Like we didn't have the insane success, like some of the other people that came out, um, of, you know, Disney. And I think that the people that had the massive success also had a lot more media attention and just a lot more writing on pressure on them, you know, on a, uh, you know, on, on, on a pressure kind of situation. And then I think also, um, I think they just also were just making more money. So for everybody that was underneath them, it was like, we have a lot more to lose. This doesn't happen and isn't successful. More fame, more mistakes.
Starting point is 00:42:21 Speaking of tour, Allie and AJ are going to be on tour this summer. They start June 23rd in Oklahoma city. Um, and it goes all the way through, uh, their, uh, September 8th here in Los Angeles. They're going to end September 19th in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and their LP with love from is available right now.
