Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey guys, it's your Lady Gang, Jack Vanek, Kelty Knight, and Becca Tobin. Thank you so much for subscribing on iTunes, and thanks for supporting the great sponsors who make it possible for us to have this much fun with you every single week for free. Well, what is this? Welcome to the Lady Gang. That's amazing. Say that again. The Lady Gang.
Starting point is 00:00:20 Things are about to change around here. Each week, we catch up with Hollywood's hottest girl posse, Kelty Knight, Becca Tobin, and Jack Vanek. Hello, hello, and welcome to the Lady Gang. I am Becca Tobin, across from me, Kelty Knight. To my right is Jack Vanek. Hello. We're really feeling it today.
Starting point is 00:00:39 We're rolling the tape on ourselves. I just ate a ton of sugar, and now I feel crazy, like I've done crack. How are you guys? I'm feeling good. I'm eating candy and drinking kombucha, so I'm feeling like I'm perfectly in sync. I know. You're very balanced. Balanced.
Starting point is 00:00:56 It's like shit food and then some fake healthy drink. Yeah, but it's really eating up in my stomach. You're also more subdued today than you've been in a while. Yeah. Why? I don't know. Is it your sexual harassment course that you had to take before coming here today? I did have to take a sexual harassment course today.
Starting point is 00:01:11 Did you learn anything? Are we... Yeah, I did learn things. Okay, well, fun fact. You are not allowed to watch pornography on your work computer. I think that's something that people, like, often assume. Also, you can ask someone on a date. You can.
Starting point is 00:01:27 but they prefer it if it's not in the same group at work like they want you to be like um separate department separate department they don't like it and because they said um it always ends in a breakup and then that's optimistic yeah well true but i don't want to be like crazy or whatever but i did like bring my notebook and work on work for the entire hour so i was only listening to like half you didn't get in trouble for that no i sat in the back row actually when i walked in there was no back row and i pulled the chair from the front row into the back that's so not kelty night of you i know i was probably taking notes what was the girl scouts thing what were you in canada the brownies no they're wilderness people what was your what was the name of your like you took
Starting point is 00:02:15 care of the environment oh the pollution solution oh it's so canadian jesus christ I love you. Okay. Well, it's time for... Good week. Yes, it is. Bad week. Oh, no.
Starting point is 00:02:32 I'm going to start today. Okay. So, bad week I'm going to start with because it really happened today and I felt horrible. Okay. I went to yoga. Good for you. Hot yoga. Hot yoga.
Starting point is 00:02:45 Which I love. And I go to a studio where there's... It's not like the carpet on the floor situation that smells like a dirty locker room. Like that one Bikram closet. yeah so it's really clean and i like i know most of the teachers at this point but today was a teacher who i didn't know that well she was really good and at the end of class when you're laying in shavasana you know she came around which some of them do and sometimes they'll spray you with a mist of lavender sometimes they'll give you like a little like rubby rub down which makes me
Starting point is 00:03:16 not feel great i don't like they touch me i don't like don't single me out right like a hip stretch no thanks i'm good i've done that i'll stretch my hips alone later thank you very much like and i feel like i'm gonna crack in half with you pushing down on me so yeah but the massages are what are the weirdest to me but i realize i just have to embrace it and stay in my zen moment and not let it bother me so she leans over me starts doing a little bit of like a rubby rub and all i'm thinking of is the acne that i'm gonna break out and after she's touched me with her sweaty hands yeah and then i feel a drop of sweat toe massage in my eye a drop of sweat of her sweat after an hour of sweating nope i was horrified yeah that was my bad week that's my very very bad week
Starting point is 00:04:03 um my good week is i am someone's godmother oh i saw that's so cute isn't that cute i never in a million years would ever have thought i would be somebody's godmother because god knows i'm not much of a role model but it's to our friends i probably shouldn't say their names keep it anonymous but our friends on instagram yeah but whatever um their their daughter who i'm like crazy about and she's the only child other than my nieces and nephews who let make my ovaries sort of twinge yeah she is so cute she's so cute they made an error what do you have to do as a would you say i said they made an error they probably definitely made an error they honestly probably made you the godparent and i mean this with love because you have the most instagram
Starting point is 00:04:51 followers and they wanted their baby account to get a lot of followers that's actually pretty smart you're gonna be my godmother justin timber like we're at their wedding i think i lose that yeah but you think justin wouldn't post it's not gonna be their godmother she's like their best friend all right whatever but why isn't she the godmother because it's down to who's the godliest and that's why i'm proving a point that it has nothing to do godmother is the godliest person you know i don't think i think it's just the best role model so you know what's up with jessica sorry jessica you suck well congrats she's also probably busier than i am right i already did my bad week the sweat in the eyeball oh yeah i was so memorable i forgot instantly who's going
Starting point is 00:05:33 i'm gonna go um my good week is becca and i got a chemical peel on our faces by dr k recently um i feel like i have like a baby's butt for skin on my face now it's pretty great have you ever gotten a chemical peel no um it's not there were two days when i thought to myself you stupid idiot why would you mutilate your face like this but now i don't regret it my mom and i went out in public to like dinner with my dad and like there's like the two days where your skin's literally like it's coming off and she's like a baby foot on your face it's a baby it's baby for your face and you can't touch the skin like you just have to like let it peel and like you can maybe cut it how long does it take to heal from like application to i could be on tv oh wow yeah like we got it on
Starting point is 00:06:20 a monday and then i was fine by that sunday the next sunday that's long okay yeah it's pretty long and it's like you do look beautiful thank you i really thank you i really enjoyed it well kind of your bad week um my bad week so last weekend i was out with my girlfriend having a few drinks obviously and i've been talking to this guy from some one of these stupid apps and we had already drank like a couple glasses of wine and we're like chatting he was in town from canada i like to marry that guy and he was like 35 he said he was a music producer he seemed fine whatever everyone's music it was fine we were talking and i was like you know what i'm kind of drunk like let's go like meet up with him he said he was hanging out as at his friend's house
Starting point is 00:07:04 so he gives me an address my girlfriend and i get in the car it's a tent in a park that probably wouldn't be the first time i'm sure that's me we get in the car to go or in the uber to go meet up with him and we're like getting closer i'm like oh you like must be in westwood i like i went to ucla this is so exciting and nostalgic then we keep driving and i'm like this is like really close to the campus and then we no no get there no uber drops us off i'm like we're in frat row like we're in the houses no no no he's not in college but hanging out at college parties i go i go to meet him in front of the house and he's like oh come on in we go into the frat house no he his friend that he's staying with is literally 19 years old how old is he 35 35 and so we were
Starting point is 00:07:53 like at a frat house i'm like well shit we're already here for the story jack is like let's party you were probably in heaven no you were in your bikini top and short shorts it was literally like it was delta kappa gamma it was blind if it wasn't a freaking sorority i hated that shit just surprising fit in no no and i hate everybody i'm like oh pay for everyone okay so anyways we like do you realize you're in a in like a sorority now i know it's it's hard it's actually a cult we're the leaders so um we just like have a few drinks there the worst part about it is his 19 year old friend was so hot and i'm like this is another cole sprouse but then the friend had to leave because he was going to sexual harassment training
Starting point is 00:08:36 or course or whatever the 19 year old yeah they give them like i guess in college now you have to go to like sexual harassment wow so that you don't so just just note to self 19 year old it never gets better but okay you gotta keep going your best life yeah so that was fun so i just had to date at a frat house more alarm that you were attracted to a 19 year old i'm not there's a lot yeah they look like you know the skateboarder yeah his son is so hot and he's like five i bet he's also like five feet tall no he's like 22 he's so hot anyway i'll show you a picture it looks like tarzan anyway my turn good week got a new word honanigans we've already used that no too much like a homant no honanakin is new i'm a kin gin honanagan we have homans i don't know
Starting point is 00:09:20 i want to say we've said honan i don't think we have but it's it's like a ho tivity it's tired healthy no what are you getting into tonight some honan again i need someone to tell us immediately No, we haven't. Hotivities and homants. We've done hotivities and homants. There's too many homanigans. What was Jack doing at the frat house? Getting into some homanigans.
Starting point is 00:09:41 I was sadly not, but thank you. Anyway, bad week. So I have a very small car, Mini Cooper, and I'm on the set. And so there's like a lot of those red cones at all times, like around my car, because they're like dope. And I hate it. And I'm also like, give me, let me live. Let me park in my parking spot.
Starting point is 00:09:59 There's always, like, some lights or, like, five other cars or, like, a catering truck behind. I'm like, can I just go to my parking spot? Anyway, so one night I'm coming home very late. Oh, no. I'm going to a shoot, and I'm wearing, like, you know, my bodycon dress and my heels, and I got seven bags, whatever. I get in my car. I pull out, and I'm driving along, and then I hear, like, and it just, my car, like, basically won't go anymore. And I'm like, oh, that's weird.
Starting point is 00:10:21 I wonder how many of you have a flat tire. I drove over a pylon. It got Oregon on. What's a pylon? I don't even know what a pylon is. You know, like the red cone, traffic cone. You could have called it a cone. Okay.
Starting point is 00:10:30 I drove over the cone. You've been calling them cones so far. Okay. Well, I drove over the cone. Be consistent. It origamied into a small ratchet of booting of my car and was stuck between the wheel well and my wheel in. So then I'd stop the car and in my heels and Spanx was kneeling on the pavement and trying to pull out this cone pylon by myself so that I could continue to drive. And it took me about 30 minutes, and I literally looked up at the sky, and I said, why, God, why?
Starting point is 00:11:00 And then also, this is going to be a great, bad week. That's the end. First word. I love it. I can't even say it. Okay, bye. What's happening? What's coming up?
Starting point is 00:11:07 We're very excited because Annika Marks is here, and she is going to star in your new favorite show. Woo-hoo! Now back to the Lady Gang. Our guest today is a film and television actress, writer, and producer who made her debut scene in the critically acclaimed series Waco. Besides some of our favorites, Michael Shannon, Taylor Kitsch, and Melissa Benoist. Last week, she was born in Sweden. Her first film was called G-Spots. She's appeared on The Fosters, The Last Tycoon, NCIS, and many more.
Starting point is 00:11:41 She's a newlywed. We like her. Please welcome to the podcast, Annika Marks. First of all, wait, what was the debut part? like it's a new show oh the show's debut i know i wrote it incorrectly and it's my these intros i know it's my first fail in like 115 episodes and i tried to fix it and no i love that you brought back g spots you guys that was a short film i did in like 2001 what is it about i know this is a very good question i'm shocked you're the first person to bring it up in an interview it's like
Starting point is 00:12:08 that's why i lost two emmys for my reporting she deep stocks what is the g spot about but is it G-Spot? No, G... I think it was singular. It was like Sandy Duncan and Keith David, and we were in some kind of weird cave in Connecticut in February, like walking through ice. I don't remember.
Starting point is 00:12:24 So it wasn't a soft porn? No, I think it was a marketing tactic. I mean, I think it was like, why do you try to market short films that way? I don't know. That's amazing. I don't remember anything about G-Spots in the movie. I love how you were in it, and you were like,
Starting point is 00:12:37 don't remember it. I just remember being freezing. I think it was in a tree at some point. In a lot of things. working for like a million years and in a lot of things still 21 it's crazy let's talk about your new show there's so much to talk about i've made every single person watch the trailer um and it debuted it debuted last week and it's i just oh my god well first of all tell everyone what's it about so uh it's called waco and it's about the situation in waco between
Starting point is 00:13:06 the atf and the branch davidians which i when i got the audition was like oh i remember this this was like this crazy cult and they were like abusing children and they set themselves on fire and like my kid brain that's how i compartmentalize that story and it's about what really happened and it's deeply deeply disturbing michael shannon is so creepy oh i was everything he does also no he's so talented but like what is he like in real life because he always plays the creepy like he's intense he's intense like i feel like all actors want to think they can do everything But the truth is, like, you have a range based on your natural, like, your essence. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:46 And his essence is incredibly intense. Were you scared? A little bit. Yeah. Like, a little overwhelming and intimidating. Like, he's intense. Like, he's, yeah. I think he's a hard person to feel, like, super relaxed around.
Starting point is 00:14:02 But you can see it in his work. Like, everything he does has purpose. Everything. Right. And he takes his work so seriously. The guy is so prepared. I mean, he's like, everyone should be on set with him. Taylor Kitsch is so hot.
Starting point is 00:14:15 He was my Hollywood Hall Pass for a very long time. For Friday Night Lights? Yeah. Tim Riggins from Friday Night Lights. Texas Forever. I know. Texas Forever. He's so hot.
Starting point is 00:14:25 Did you watch Friday Night Lights yet? I kind of watched it. How would you not watch Friday Night Lights? You're an idiot. You're dumb. Did you watch it? No. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:14:33 I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. No, you know what? It's probably better, though. It's better. It's better. i met him as david koresh i think was a good thing let me tell a little bit of a backstory of how i know annika and a little and it'll tie into this the hallmark christmas movie that i did
Starting point is 00:14:50 her amazing husband rich newey directed it and we like really got along like sometimes you don't click with a director and you're like this guy doesn't know what he's doing actually he was super super talented and he's like you have to meet my wife she's coming to visit turns out we live like five houses away from each other um she came to visit liked her a lot more than rich i'm just kidding i know he's listening um and while we're on set she goes back to la and while we're shooting the movie rich is like annika has a callback for this thing waco this like awesome project we're so excited so he would like update us and she just kept getting further and further and further and finally he walked up to us and he's like she got it like no way got it this is
Starting point is 00:15:35 so huge and the first thing i said was oh my god does she get to have a sex scene with taylor kitch and he's like what i was like the hottest man on the planet is taylor kitch and he's the star of this series his face he hadn't even thought he was too excited that she had gotten this job suddenly his face drops and it's like i'm not excited anymore yeah i like literally peed in his cheerios and then the rest of the day he was so concerned that you were working with the man's hottest like did you have sex with taylor pitch oh that's part of the story is that you just made it up i just assumed she's like young and hot and he's young and hot and usually when there's two young people and he had like 24 wives like why wouldn't i why wouldn't you and so i just assumed
Starting point is 00:16:26 and but like rich was just and you guys had just gotten married oh it's so funny it was cute it's very good that you didn't know him as tim riggins because like there's i i can't even talk about it he's that hot he's so hot so i know him in this role which is kind of weirdly hot but weird he's so talented you guys like he's so incredibly talented and so committed like the guy the the very first time we saw him do anything as david koresh it was like this huge chapel scene um from that first episode and he goes to give the sermon and we're all sitting there like this is gonna make or break the series like if this guy we all remember david koresh like he can't channel this guy not none of the rest of this matters and he it was like it was like he was in the room with
Starting point is 00:17:14 us i mean it was it was almost creepy he's so gifted and so committed i don't think he ever ruined a take like he was flawless he's incredible how are you how many cases you pressures on probably none well i had a lot less to do so it was easier for me to be like epically prepared yeah it's those things are weird when you have like lots of days off between scenes so you're like almost a little too obsessively right you also just stop yourself from getting like too sure of what you're gonna do when you get there yeah so you can actually show up and be in the moment and listen and not have like you know not be a robot yourself up yeah okay last taylor question then we'll move on to more things about you do you think like are you friends
Starting point is 00:18:00 now we're friendly for sure do you think like you could be like i have these friends on the lady game i would love to have you as a guest wow i can definitely send that text message okay the lady what i can i can totally send the text message yeah no pressure but pressure but a little bit of pressure yeah if you want us to ever see the light of day i'm just kidding you guys are like the coolest people i've ever been on the table with so i'm totally gonna do my best okay that is really fake it really well you're all like she's literally wearing um texas forever's jean jacket from friday night life it's amazing okay most importantly back to you so husband is keeping back updated you're going through the motions getting this big gig um what has been
Starting point is 00:18:45 your hollywood heartbreak what was the gig that you were so close to getting and you didn't like you were going to be kayla cuoco on big bang theory and then it was between you and her and She got it, and now she's got many plans. So I've had heartbreaks for sure. Like, I tested for the lead in Made in Jersey, that show back in the day, and I thought, like, that would change my life. Like, I've had those moments. But I think for me, those moments have actually always been, I've celebrated them.
Starting point is 00:19:08 Because no one cares about Made in Jersey, so thank God you didn't do it. That sounds like a reality show. I celebrated it in the moment. But it's also, like, you have to celebrate getting to the precipice of anything. Like, you have won the lottery to be in the game like that. So, like, those moments haven't broken my heart. Like, I've been heartbroken when I was young and, like, couldn't get started. Like, when I didn't even have the opportunity to fail, which is, like, a thing that you don't know is a thing until you're, like, in it.
Starting point is 00:19:34 But, like, when I couldn't even get an agent and I couldn't get started and I was, like, out of theater school and I had all this training and, like, nowhere to put it, that was heartbreaking for me. But since I've actually been, like, in the game, I don't find this business heartbreaking. I think, like, I know so many people who can't get arrested that are so talented that, like, just having opportunities, I think, is a win. She is one of the healthiest perspectives of any working actress. I don't know if I've ever heard. Yeah, because most people we talk to are like, yeah, I don't know. I think maybe it's because I started in theater and I know so many epically talented people that are like have never gotten a shot to, like, have their work be seen by the masses. and I just feel
Starting point is 00:20:16 really lucky. Most importantly what did your husband say about working with Becca? Oh my god they loved each other so much they were like they were in this small town in like four hours north of Toronto like stuck in snow storms like I don't even
Starting point is 00:20:32 want to know what was going on up there it was like summer camp but winter camp because it was 18 inches of snow and you guys had like nowhere to go we had yeah nowhere There was a bar and restaurant within the hotel we were staying in, but that was it. Or the biggest glasses of wine I've ever seen. Like, their pours were like 16 ounces.
Starting point is 00:20:52 Yeah, because they're trying to get people drunk because it's so boring there. It was, yeah. I mean, it was so adorable. I will say my preference when you go on location is something like that because you can really, A, bond with everybody you're working with because there's not a bunch of distractions like going off and doing other things or meeting up with friends who live in that city. Like, we're stuck together. so i think that your chemistry on camera like really does it does translate like you can feel that and then also you can just like it feels like camp you're in the middle of nowhere yeah you just have no choice but to embrace it and and we had a good group like there were no bad eggs
Starting point is 00:21:29 because that changes everything and you guys had a lot of autonomy like you guys were being creative which is a beautiful vocabulary oh the best vocabulary i mean you dropped some word bombs but i'm like a dork i know we say like it was cool 45 times we think a cool world word is sexico so yeah that's our what's sexico it's when you take a trip to sexico like what is wait it's like like tonight when you get home you're gonna have a glass of wine with your husband and take a trip to sex yes okay she's gonna try to use it in a sentence one of the things that i have um brought up to talk to us all about because you're in this new show about a very famous sort of cult i brought up four cults that exist and i want to
Starting point is 00:22:20 know if you guys would want to be a part of them don't read it while i'm just listen to it did you put heaven's gate in there that's my favorite okay so there are a lot of really nasty cults and i tried to keep it safe so okay here's a cult would you like to be part of this culture these are real cults I'm gonna guess that these are all no's 10 things I hate about you co-star Andrew Keegan
Starting point is 00:22:40 began a new spiritual movement in Venice, California called Full Circle it's right by my apartment Jack's actually in it they've described their movement as advanced spiritualism or the highest spiritualism
Starting point is 00:22:51 founded on universal knowledge they also enjoy what is it called ayahuasca ayahuasca ayahuasca so you know they like to party fun fact
Starting point is 00:23:00 in May 2015 undercover ABC agents confiscated several containers of kombucha that gross fermented mushroom tea your hippie friend likes and cited the group for selling alcohol without a license another fun fact kombucha has one percent alcohol in it also their cult got closed down because they ran out of money so it did what's andrew keegan doing now doing that that's what he's doing kombucha literally that's like he's always there i've seen him a million times it's like a celeb sighting yeah I can't know where he was so hot.
Starting point is 00:23:30 Yeah. With the hottest. Andrew, get back on order. He was so hot. Anyway, do you, I guess, well, now that my game is over since it doesn't even exist anymore. But what was their, but I'm, but like, what was their draw? Andrew Keegan. Okay, I'm in.
Starting point is 00:23:44 It was like, basically they just like gather together at this place. Talk about their feelings. It's right across from Rose Cafe. Like literally across the street. Can we go there? No, because it's closed down now because they ran out of money. I saw like, they had like a notice because they like blocked it all off. And it was like a very nice way of being like, we're broke and somebody needs to invest in us.
Starting point is 00:24:03 Next cult you can join that I think is still going on. This cult was founded by Rael, a Frenchman who is both a cabaret singer and a race car driver before meeting an alien named Yahweh. The alien apparently came to Rael to tell him about the origin of mankind and to offer him the service of several futuristic sex robots. So far, so good. The church is famous for having two different harems of women who do nothing but have sex with Rael all day. Learn how you become a bald weirdo that keeps sex slaves. Do you want to be a part of... Oh my god, he looks bad.
Starting point is 00:24:37 Hold on. Elena, hold on. First of all, let's finish the question. Do you want to be in the Rael cult? By being in the cult, that means I just have to have sex with this random guy? Are you a sex robot? Is he attractive? I know. I'm not sure.
Starting point is 00:24:49 Wait, you guys, they're going to Sexico. I just said the perfectos! Congratulations! You're a basic bitch, Dad. You're out. You're basically gone. You've replaced all your good vocabulary with all your shitty vocabulary. Now let's move over to stage left.
Starting point is 00:25:04 Elena Garcia's just pulled up her Facebook page with a picture of her and Andrew Keegan at the cult meeting. What? Let me see. Elena, are you in the cult? Are you serious? I'm not in the cult. No, this is from so long ago. This is from a long time ago.
Starting point is 00:25:17 Did you date? You look like you're dating in that picture. You look cozy in that photo. Andrew Keegan also looks terrible and is holding a... Is that Martinelli's? in the canals he is still in oh he still lives in venice but we know elena has all kinds of undercover coolness that we don't know about that's so undercover cool though but how funny was he in the cult when you knew him he was super normal yeah he was in he was like in his hot
Starting point is 00:25:39 andrew keegan face everybody in the canals had a crush on him everyone in the canals okay elena anyway just going on the canals okay nobody's joining these calls okay fine but this Can you at least give us like a draw, like Scientology, you can be really successful. There's more, there's more. This one, this is cult. Jack, let me be, let me try. This one is specially for you. For me?
Starting point is 00:26:06 Yes. This is a cult for Jack. I don't even want to know. This Japanese cult was created by Hogan Fuganagwa. It is often referred to as the foot reading cult. As the founder believed that he could make a diagnosis by examining people's feet. everything was going well for Fukunaga after he declared himself
Starting point is 00:26:25 a reincarnation of Jesus and Buddha but he then started charging $900 per foot reading and business dried up would you like to have your foot read in the foot reading cup? I think one of Paltrow would pay $900 that's what's gonna be on a goop guide is that a cult though
Starting point is 00:26:41 or is that just like a weird I think this is like some therapy I mean it said this Japanese cult but who decided it was a cult I mean it turned out a cult is That's a very good question. Yeah, because where's his followers? I feel like anything we reject as a society, we call it a cult if there's more than one
Starting point is 00:27:02 person involved and you don't necessarily, you're not vibing with what they're doing. So do you want to be in the foot cult or no? What do you do as a member of the foot cult? I'm a sucker for psychics, palm readers, tarot cards. I'm in. Are you in? Jack, are you in? I'm in.
Starting point is 00:27:18 You have to either read foots or have your foots read. I have my foot read. I don't want to read a foot. Okay. I'd have my foot read. I mean, for $900, it seems a little steep, but I would do it. It's a little steep. I'd do it.
Starting point is 00:27:29 And it's very lovely. All right, here's the last cult to discuss. Wait, I have a question. Did you write these descriptions or did you... She Googled them. I Googled them. Because all of them were like, everything was going well until... I don't know, though.
Starting point is 00:27:46 I wouldn't put it past Kelby. she loves the narrative i'm telling you it sounds like she wrote like a can you please listen to the next you had a cult what would it be oh the cult of just photographers taking my picture for fame i'd have the us weekly the in touches all of them just like in my congregation like your angelina jolie yes at all times and they'd be like beyonce i mean kelty what would your cult be becca i don't know exactly it's a hard question you knew your answer i know yeah you were fast no i would you might answer because i used to listen to this comic and he had the thing that was like i want to start a cult how do you start like you just are you just like hey
Starting point is 00:28:29 becca i'm gonna start a cult you want in you can't let them know it's like it's a lady i think lady gang's a cult but it's like the scientology center they offer acting classes free acting People want personality tests. Like therapy. So you don't actually know what you're getting into. It's very smart, their whole thing. Can I please talk about my next cult? Thank you.
Starting point is 00:28:51 A man in Port Monterey province assembled a good-sized cult for his religion that had just one simple promise. Every time parishioners had sex in public, the banana harvest would increase. The group gathered around 30 members and even jailed the mayor of a small town when he tried to stop them. When the cops came to shut down the group, the leader fled naked into the jungle with a retune of followers. And it's called the Banana Cult. Ooh. I want to be a part of the Banana Cult. I kind of like it.
Starting point is 00:29:21 And they're like overthrowing their government. Yeah. Rebels. I don't like it. Rebels with a banana. Really? You're anti-sex in public? I don't think it's a...
Starting point is 00:29:29 You'll pay $900 to get your foot wrapped, but you don't have sex in public? You know what? Thank you. Not for a banana crop. For a good banana crop? You can get so many bananas. You need that potassium. What do you think?
Starting point is 00:29:38 I mean, I do love a banana. too yeah i know how many bananas you could have you can do so many things with a banana i just so many things we'll now do a youtube video showing you all the things you can do with a banana you can make a smoothie you can shove it up your butthole and you're insane whatever there's a lot of things by the way the branch davidians totally rejected being called a cult they did which i think most of them do i think yeah most of them say that they were They were a bunch of people who had the same religious beliefs that lived together. They were more like a commune.
Starting point is 00:30:13 Okay. And then what were the beliefs? Were they like? So Branch Davidians, it is like very specific beliefs about, and this is where it loses me, something about the Lamb of God. He was the Lamb of God. I don't know. Didn't he used to think he was the second coming of Christ or something?
Starting point is 00:30:27 Well, yeah. So the Lamb of God, whatever, whatever. Yeah. It's something, it is something like that. I mean, it's extreme. It's just, and he had to have 24 children and those children were going to be some kind of. did he have 24 children i don't think he had 24 but he had a lot a lot of children that's a lot of children you played the mother of some of the children not his kids yeah but i did have
Starting point is 00:30:48 yeah four kids yeah but they totally you know for them it was like actually a lot of people living there were just like broke and like he provided you know shelter and shelter and they were they shared the same religious beliefs and i don't know before all this shit went down they weren't hurting anyone so it's an interesting thing about like you want to say it's going to be neat because it's both sides and we call people cults and part of it is that we make them weird and different yeah it makes it easier to kind of you know we compartmentalize them like well they're under they're unlike us and i don't know if that was so true i mean the banana cult is unlike us i yeah i mean right if they were sex in public for good banana props like i feel like
Starting point is 00:31:29 that's harmless i love that i think that's a fun cult okay well when we come back we're going to figure out your lives ask the lady gang and we're back before we start ask lady gang if you guys want 20 off of jackmanic.com use code lady gang um so you're gonna help us answer some questions from our listeners oh fun this is gonna be from our lady gang that's right there you go really look like idiots like idiots and we have really honest advice and we're not and we're gonna say drink a bottle of wine. We're going to say have sex in public for the night. The bar is higher today. Have sex in public for what?
Starting point is 00:32:08 Nothing to deserve this except use the word autonomous, which is really amazing. You used another one. No, there was another one. No, there was one earlier and I was like, well, that's a good word in my head. And then I didn't like really want to call you out as a vocabulist until I don't know if that's a word. No, I made that up.
Starting point is 00:32:24 Until you dropped the other one. Why do you have such a good vocabulary? Yeah, why? I don't think I really do. Do you read a lot? She writes a lot. I read and I write. It's more than a lawyer, though. So do we.
Starting point is 00:32:36 Good for you. No, we don't. No, we don't. I wrote those common questions. We're both girls in credit. We did write them. I knew it. It's because you're from the Pacific Northwest.
Starting point is 00:32:48 People are smarter in Seattle. We moved a lot when I was a kid. But my dad's a transplant surgeon. My mom's on the school board. I was supposed to go to college. I didn't, though. This is what I'm saying. I don't think I have a great vocabulary.
Starting point is 00:32:58 You do. My siblings are smarter than I am. You have a good vocabulary. That means you're smart. Don't doubt your vocabulary. What does he transplant? All organs? Livers, pancreases, and kidneys.
Starting point is 00:33:09 Your dad is smart. Yeah, he's smart. He has an obnoxious vocabulary. That's insane. Okay. Are you ready? Pressure's on now. All right.
Starting point is 00:33:17 I know. Seriously. All right. Our first question comes from Kelly. Kelly says, my boyfriend and I have been dating for almost four years, and I really do love him a lot. He's the first guy that I've been able to open up with completely, and we truly enjoy each other's company and even talk about a future together unfortunately i can't keep myself from
Starting point is 00:33:35 staring at all the hot guys that come by my way for instance for instance i've always been attracted to athletes and my boyfriend's not really a sports guy so any guy playing sports i find myself drooling over does this mean something or should i just keep on the same track okay four years is a while thank you becca tobin period i'm just trying to figure out how to answer this how old is kelly do we know i don't know here's the thing it's a myth that once you find your person you stop looking at other people myth myth you are still going to every once in a while find somebody else attractive do you act on it that's the difference yeah so i can really appreciate taylor kitch's hot bod and hot face
Starting point is 00:34:28 and hot everything and his hair talents are hot voicel vocal cord level his mouth his hands sexual eyes um but like if you're tempted to go to the next step of past observing yeah then maybe the guy you're with is not for you if he's not holding your attention or keeping you excited enough about you know yeah and i think she seems to be very self-aware enough to like even if she like thinks the guy's hot she thinks there's something wrong with it which there's not and that's just being human and i think that's completely fine yeah but if you are wanting to like text somebody or if you're wanting to like get a little bit drunk and like yeah fool around but i've been in relationships before where like i've not like i thought i should stay in it because
Starting point is 00:35:16 I was, like, with a really good person, and I've tried to, like, deny that the physical chemistry wasn't there. Yeah. And then I've done things that, in the end, I could have avoided. Right. Like, I've set myself up to do things that I wish I'd never done. You know, some of the things that I feel, like, the most shame around in my past are about trying to pretend that I was attracted to somebody that I wasn't attracted to. I understand that. So I do think that the chemistry isn't there.
Starting point is 00:35:43 That's important. Yeah. You can't fake that. But the most important thing to know, Kelly, is that athletes are douchebags. I was just going to say that, too. They're probably all assholes. And you're attracted to them because they're idiots. And they're going to treat you like shit.
Starting point is 00:35:55 So just love them from afar and get the 49ers calendar or whatever you want to do. Oh, my God. Do not marry or date. Or a different calendar. Athlete is on the five. You can't date. Okay? Athlete, actor, producer, DJ.
Starting point is 00:36:08 Musician. Promoter. Oh, musician. Sorry. I didn't know that list existed. I think that is a list you made up yourself. Yes, it's my list. What is it?
Starting point is 00:36:16 It's no actors, musicians, athlete, DJ slash club promoter, and magician. For the record, I've dated them all. I was just thinking that. I've dated somebody in every one of those categories, including magician. Wait, you've dated a magician? Yes. It was not long lasting. No.
Starting point is 00:36:38 Oh, no, no, no. He was not nearly that good of a magician. He wasn't actually that good at all. jack is the worst tasting man who loves david blaine okay i think david blaine is hot didn't he just get accused of something anyway okay moving on next question all right next question comes from anonymous wait annika didn't tell her oh yeah you did no i did made some okay yeah errors yes yeah i think you have to be attractive i think that that has to be there there's yeah it's like i'm not talking banana cult attractive but i'm talking like be you know
Starting point is 00:37:13 like your man yeah a little okay last question next question comes from anonymous anonymous says i have a colleague who is late for work every day she'll come in at 9 30 or 10 a.m without telling anyone and then leave early since her hours are so irregular guilty shaking her head the workload is starting to fall on me i'm getting interrupted daily with questions from junior members of her team and since she is not here also please know our boss is crazy busy and is really in the office so she would never know my colleagues habits should i speak up and tell my boss what's been going on or do i keep my nose to the ground and hope it bites her in the ass one day you have to confront this girl you have to say you yourself have to confront continues i will
Starting point is 00:37:59 have to go elsewhere like go above you above us yeah give her a little threat give her a warning and be very firm yeah i totally agree and it's totally valid like if i mean there's one thing about being annoyed if somebody's coming in late but like if it's now falling on you and making your job harder or like getting you in trouble then yeah you have to say something i gotta say you gotta say it to them you can't go to the bosses you can't be a tattertail because the thing is is that bosses no bosses you think you're doing the cool thing of like being like can i talk you about a second i have a concern boss they hate that they hate it so much they have stuff like budgets and how they're gonna pay you to worry about they don't care about your concerns
Starting point is 00:38:44 and every time it's only happened to me twice i've ever been like this girl does this it has always come back to be like you're the girl that hates girls and like i really don't hate girls i like didn't like those two but anyway okay moving on just be also more importantly those are m&ms More importantly, just be on time. For the love of God, be on time. I can't stand it. I can't stand it. In our industry, the amount of actors that show up late, it blows my mind.
Starting point is 00:39:13 So you think your time is more precious than everybody else's? Especially when you're an actor and you've gone to a set where you know the crew is there every single day working these hours. Waiting for you. I don't know how people live with themselves. The worst is when you make plans socially, like a dinner.
