Well, what is this?
Welcome to the Lady Gang.
That's amazing. Say that again.
The Lady Gang.
Things are about to change around here.
Each week we catch up with Hollywood's hottest girl posse,
Kelty Knight, Becca Tobin, and Jack Vanek.
Hello, hello, hello. Welcome to the Lady Gang.
I am Becca here with Jack and Kelty.
Oh my gosh, I forgot to use our last names.
This is a regular episode.
Oh my gosh.
Hi.
Can you use my full name, Becca?
Kaltishka Knightley.
Katie Knightley.
Katie Knightley.
Kelsey Knight.
Our yoga teacher this weekend called her Kelsey.
Yeah.
And then she never said my name again the whole weekend.
I was like, okay.
Well, she never once used my name.
Ever.
It was like she didn't know us.
And like Dorit over there got tons of feedback.
It wasn't really Dorit.
I wish it was.
Regina. Oh my God, I wish it was Dorit if we could have spent the weekend with Dorit.
Okay. Can I start? Because I've been waiting to tell this story.
Yes. It's time for... Okay. So first of all, I'll give you my good week because the bad week is
where I want your focus to be this week. The good week is that I revolutionarily bought myself a
milk frother on Amazon and it is next level. Do either of you bitches have your own personal
milk frother. Ben had that girl. Wait, is this for like a cappuccino? It's for anything. So
basically I make my coffee in the morning in a mug and then I take my coconut milk creamer with
vanilla and I put it in the frother and then the froth goes on the top. It's like I'm a fucking
barista. It's as good, if not better than anything I've ever bought out in the world for $7. And it
has brought me so much joy. I look forward to the mornings for my froth. Froth is the new Gucci
handbag of COVID. Wow. Hashtag rock. Congrats. What's your bad week? Okay. So Becca and I went
to WeCare and it was an amazing experience. We went on- It's a wellness retreat for people who
don't know. It's like to go and unplug and detox. And literally by unplug, they mean like take a lot
of juices and supplements so you can like clean out your bowels. And there's also like yoga and
massages. And like, it's just, it's such a beautiful place that the whole grounds are
amazing. And part of the program, if you want to is getting colonics and colonics are really great
for people like me that are like highly, highly, highly constipated and don't drink enough water.
Like I'm just going to put it out there. So the first, so colonics, you do them like a couple
days in a row, right? So colonic number one, I I'm calling it a traumatic, like trauma colonic.
so i've had climax before it's not my first rodeo with my butthole and i i'm on the table and it's
like you know we're like 30 minutes in and like nothing has come out it's just water all stuck up
there stuck up she's like rubbing the castor oil on my belly she's like massaging my gut she takes
out the like electric did they do that to you becca like electric massage and they're like let
me just break this up nothing is happening nothing is happening oh no like oh okay and then i'm like
starting to get nauseous. And she's like putting the oil over my face. I'm like, Oh my God. Like,
I don't know what's happening. Well, what all the oils and the massaging, then it all started to
really move. And so I'm on the dog. I'm on the dog pee pad, right? I'm laying on my back knees up.
The tube is like up my butt and I'm, and I'm like, okay. And she's like, okay, good. Things
are starting to move. Things are starting to move. And I was like, yeah, I feel like the tube is
falling out. Like, okay, let me look. She's like, Oh yeah. Yeah. You had a little leakage. I'm like,
okay and then this like whoosh came and like i pooped the bed all over the whole dog the whole
tube fall out of your butt like halfway out and like it was all spraying everywhere and then she
had me like lift up into like a crow pose and she pulled out the the doggy pee pad and put another
one in and then i soaked through that one so i had to have three bed changes during my 145 minute
clonic and it was and she was like hey so after you're done there's like a shower in there there's
no shower curtain. Cause we don't usually use it, but if you want to rinse off and I was like,
Oh my God. And I was like, was that the most traumatic? She's like, it wasn't the most,
but, and then he went next day was really easy. So. Wow. So you just had a lot of shit up there,
like a brick. You're full of shit. You're full of shit. I have like a, like, that's why I think
I'm feeling so good. I really am feeling better. Okay. You guys go. So I'll go next. Um, so my
good week is, you know, our lady gangers and our lady gang Facebook, they've really like helped
each other out over the last five years. And there's been like an amazing sisterhood that's
happened. And I just want to highlight a certain sisterhood that I saw on the Facebook group. And
it's from this, our lady ganger, Caitlin Utz. She's like one of our OGs. She's been around
forever. She made a post that she met her friend, Sarah through the lady gang. And the day that she
posted, she waxed her whole vagina, made eye contact with her butthole, and she said she's
never been closer to another human in her whole life. And I just thought that was amazing because
without the lady gang, she would have never seen her butthole. And that's a sisterhood.
And that's something you don't want to miss in a lifetime. The sight of your butthole.
Why were they waxing each other's buttholes? One of them's probably a waxer.
I don't think she was. I think maybe she just wanted to do an at-home wax.
I did wax my best friend's vagina when we were young.
I don't know if I would trust a non-waxer to wax my lady parts.
She is tough as nails.
I'll say that.
And the butthole hurts.
No, the butthole is the least.
Oh, wait, that's true.
The butthole doesn't hurt.
It's the outer.
No, no, no.
It's the pubic bone.
The pubic bone, like right above the slit is like, oh my.
It's such a high density of hair.
You have all the nervies.
Okay.
Well, love your...
I'm just glad our Lady Gangers can help each other out.
Okay.
My bad week is it's pretty fast.
So I was working at this cafe called Zinke yesterday.
They have outside tables.
It's all socially distant.
I was like, you're working at a cafe as Lady Gang doing that poorly?
Yeah, that's what I was thinking.
I started my first day as a barista.
So I was working at the cafe.
I was sitting by myself.
And there was an old man that was sitting at the table next to me and I was working.
And then all of a sudden the man sneezes, which, you know, is just like terrifying in
these days.
Anyways, I have a time to sneeze around you, but he covered it and he like sneezed in his
shirt.
And then I look at him and he is licking his boogers off of his shirt with his tongue.
that. It was the nastiest. I can't live in this moment anymore. I don't think I can live in this
moment anymore. I actually feel nauseous. I might throw up. I think I might throw up. I had to see
it with my eyes. I had to see it now. Okay. I got to get us through this. Okay. My good week is that
I received the ultimate DM that I've been waiting for all my life. Wait, is it from, should we guess
who it's from. Yeah. It's not a notable person. Oh, okay. Well, yet. Okay. Okay. What is it?
Okay. Do you remember when you were so excited about the people from Summer House DMing you?
Like you're overselling this. Okay. Well, you can wait for it and be really jealous in about
20 seconds. Okay. Hello, beautiful. I love your profile picture especially. I'll be happy if you
text me back. I'm a rich guy. I'm interested in having you as my sugar baby and get you paid
weekly my payment starts from four thousand dollars a week a week let me know if you're
interested four thousand a week i mean that's me up sounds like a deal guys that's like you know
i could buy a few things with that okay no well no i have a question you know because like
as a woman i feel like every woman has gotten a dm sort of like this in their life this was my
first this was it no jackets because you wear bikinis and crop tops i have i had a guy end up
printing my picture out and putting it into a necklace and then sending me oh the photo like
a locket yeah like a locket but i just wonder like somebody needs to go through with this
you know like you need to there are there are women all over the world going through with this
they're on yachts in bikinis that is true you're right just nobody i know has and i need a personal
relationship with that. I'm just thrilled that under five foot four, I'm still getting proposition
to be a sugar baby. You're just so just a cute baby. But I have a question for fall 2020. Could
you like investigate this as a lady gang investigates? Like, could we just, I know you're
not going to take it all the way to sugar baby, obviously, but like, could you write back and be
like, Hey, I am interested. What is my time commitment? Like I'd like to just can, can we
meet on your yacht with a few of my friends. No, I need somebody. I need someone to follow along a
little bit. No, I need a yacht. I need somebody with a yacht. If there's anything in my life that
I know it's that being on a yacht with someone you don't want to be with is worse than being
trapped in a Volkswagen bug with someone you do. That is true. You don't want to be stuck on a yacht.
They can also kill you. And then, yeah, we're going to get our own yacht. Yeah. We're going
have the lady yacht. It's going to be called the lady vessel, the vagina vessel. So my bad,
my bad week is that, you know, COVID has been going on and on and on and on. And, uh, I really,
really wanted like a good gel manicure. Cause I want some like thickness. I've been getting
really great manicures on myself and I'm like, you know what? I'm going to try that dip situation.
at home. Really great. Me and Kelsey, rubble nails. No, I tried and I had plaster like all
over my hands, in my hair. I looked, it was truly the worst, hardest thing I've ever done in my
life. I can't, how do you do it? Did you watch YouTube videos first? Yes. It is painstakingly
like a long process. It takes me like two and a half hours to do my nails. Oh my God. It's not
really? Yeah. Cause it's, you have to file and then you have to buff and then you have to cuticle.
The secret to dip nail is to have a very even slight, light, light, light, light amount of
the pre-dip solution on the nail. It gets super thick. It's also just super glue. Like the smell
of it, it smells like what I used to do press on nails when I was little. Like it's can't be good
for you. I think it's definitely not good to do in a closed space. No, it's definitely not good
for you. I mean, I, I, I hate it. I do it, but I hate it so much. Well, I'm going to just be like,
you know, a little peasant with my at-home random manicure. All right. Well, I am f***ing stoked
about our guest. Yeah. Get ready. I am f***ing ready. Let's do it.
now back to the lady gang it took five this is a great intro it took five years of podcasting
and only 100 million downloads and we finally convinced our guests rep to let this icon spend
time with the lady gang we have been blessed with a tiny sliver of her time today because let me
tell you our guest today is the definition of booked and busy she is a philanthropist entrepreneur
author, producer, and soon-to-be host of her own competition show on HBO Max.
She's the babe brains behind Skinny Girl Cocktails, the perfect cocktail to make being
married and having sex with the same person for a decade super fun and flirty, just saying,
my house is always stocked. And she's since expanded the Skinny Girl brand into a global
lifestyle empire, featuring products for women that offer practical and stylish solutions to
everyday problems, including the new Skinny Girl supplement line, which offers a lot of things,
but one of the pills is sensuality for female intimacy.
What?
And it helps to increase desire, elevate sensation, and improve blood flow.
Thank God.
She's a force for helping through her Be Strong initiative.
And you might remember when we were launching our book,
we ran this charity campaign where you could repost,
and every time we reposted, we gave a dollar to Be Strong.
And so this is so exciting to have her on.
And she has a new number one chart-topping podcast with her new show, Just Be.
We're going to talk about all of it, including Instagram dance parties,
being Paris Hilton's nanny, her own advice to a 26-year-old self, and much more. Please welcome
to the podcast, I cannot believe she's here, the iconic Bethany Frankel. Wow. Welcome. Thank you.
Holy shit. That was the best intro we've ever had for anybody. I had to have been. That was
ridiculous. I'm so thrilled you're here. And I want to tell you before we begin,
congratulations on the podcast. And I'm so thankful for you for being a huge celebrity
and putting out a podcast that does not suck because everyone is putting out a podcast right
now. They are so terrible. And I was like, I had such high hopes for you, Bethany. And it's as good
as I dreamed it would be. It is to the point, no bullshit. You're not like, hi, hi, hi. Oh my God.
Remember when we side chatted at the party? You're like, let's get in. Let's learn something.
It's so smart. I love you as a host, obviously. I mean, it's just, there's a reason why people have
come to this podcast and it's topping the charts. So congratulations.
Wow. That's amazing. Why are most new celebrity podcasts bad? I've never listened to a podcast
in my life, so I really don't know. Why are most of them bad? It's because celebrities think that
they can just get away with blabbing and talking about nothing, I think, for an hour, that they
don't think they need to put in the work to actually make solid content, which you have,
and it shines and shows completely. Thank you so much. I appreciate that. I really love it.
I mean, I love it so much. And I just had no idea. It's nice to rail. I was not the kid that
didn't think I got an A and would get an A. I was the kid that knew if I got a C or failed or
knew if I got an A. So this is the only time in my entire life that I've walked into something
and thought it was going to be good and really liked it. I loved it, but didn't even know there
was a metric, didn't know there was like a list, didn't know, but had no idea that it was going to
be like this. I mean, I'm a humble, but I literally had no idea. I was like, whoa. So this is really
now exciting. Like now this thing is real. Oh yeah. And like you already, I mean, to have Mark
Cuban on as your first guest, it's such a powerhouse and like so cool that Shark Tank
like community that you brought in. But it's like now every billionaire and person of importance in
the world is going to be like, oh, well guess where you go? Forbes and Bethany. Like how
cool is that? I can't imagine who I just booked. I won't say it because I can't say it today. I
just booked someone crazy. I love this. And I also love, so what I, okay. First of all,
I just want to check on Becca. Let's just take a Becca, Becca. Are you okay? Cause I know this is
like, you're, this is a lady that you love. It's true. We worked with a mutual Matt Anderson,
a producer. Um, they did our show on and every single day I'd be like, tell me a Bethany story.
I'm a creepy stalker and I'm keeping it together. But you know what's nice is if you started as a
fan of Bethany, your expectations, the roof has been blown off. What you've achieved has been so
impressive. And what you've done for the world is really a testament to you being just deserving of
all this good stuff. Wow. I appreciate that. Thank you so much. So the tagline for the podcast is a
show about how to be successful and we're here for it. So I want to know, Bethany,
how can we be successful? Help us. Well, there's three of you. There are three of you. So that's
good because there are strengths in numbers, but you have to be all aligned. You have to
understand exactly what your brand is and all roads need to adhere to it. And shiny objects
come left and right. And everything can sort of like a horoscope be made into something that
works, but everything doesn't really work. So you have to really, really understand and stick to
the brand. And so does everybody else that works around you. You have to be beyond organized,
passionate, driven, and execute. It's all really about executing. And really, it takes a while.
It's not really a business plan, but once you have something that's successful, which you do,
you have to create an overall architectural plan where everything nests within this one world.
And sort of like the way that the veins and the blood flowing in your body, like pump to the
heart. The brand Lady Gang is the heart and everything else has to sort of move towards that
and mesh. Wow. That makes a lot of sense. That actually makes a ton of sense. And I really liked
the Mark Cuban episode that you had. You talked about like, what are your mantras? Like what are
the things like that you keep saying yourself on over? And he had like a couple, I think he had
three. What is your mantra? Like what is the thing you wake up in the morning kind of reminding
yourself of? It's more than I live throughout the day with it. It's just, you know, I get things
done. I get, it's an execute. It's, I'm an executor. There has, I have never seen or known
an executor like me. It's just an, it's, I don't care about how the sausage gets made. I don't
want to know, figure it out. Place of yes. Like, it's just like, bang, let's do it. Then let's do
the next thing. Let's not worry about, okay, what do I have to do now? I got to do this. Then I'm
going to do this, check that box. Then I'm gonna do the next thing. But by the same token, looking
at the overall chess board. So those little moves are kind of like checkers, which we don't want to
play. You have to be aware of the pieces on the board, but you have to be aware of the whole
board. Also the buckets. Basically, I like to have fewer buckets filled to the top than time suck
50 buckets filled a third of the way. And it's easy because everything sounds like something
you can do and everybody can tell you there's something you should do and you think you should
do things. And you got to really like snap back and be like, okay, why am I doing this? Is this
a time suck? Because it's a good use of time. Time is more valuable than money, particularly as you
get older, particularly if you're a parent, particularly if you're divorced and you're a
single mom, particularly if you can't like, you know, travel as much or do the things you used
to be able to do. Like there's not, there's not that much time. So you have to be hyper-focused
and organized. So there are just ways that I live every day that just fall within it. It's who I am
now. Do you ever wake up some mornings and just say, I can't do a single fucking thing and do
that? All the time. The thing is, that's the funny thing. Everyone thinks that I'm like
at a 10 all the time and I'm not. I stack. I'm a big stacker. So it's like my daughter gets out
the door. I'm always with my daughter. Meaning if she's here, I don't have a nanny. So no one's
off babysitting her once every six months she'll stay at my girlfriend's house with her kids and
i'll be like oh my god i am not if i don't i don't farm out my kids so that is i'm with her so much
and it's so rewarding and it feels so good and that in itself has a relaxation aspect to it because
you're going to bed early and you're nurturing you're snuggling so that means that that's a big
piece of the pie everything has to happen during the rest of the pie so then the minute like she
gets out the door to go to school when school's not at home or the minute she's in homeschool
it's like bang stack stack stack stack stack you know the makeup's on once that's why today i have
multiple podcasts and stack stack stack press and then relax but i don't have a big social life so
it's not like i'm trying to fit 25 pounds of shit in a five pound bag i don't go to that many things
i say no to everything i don't feel guilty yes yes i don't care i it's my daughter my some of
my friends if they're willing to come over here and just like we'll meet at the last minute to
go get a drink, but I don't, I don't feel guilty. It doesn't make me a bad person. I don't care if
someone doesn't come to my thing. I just am a person who values the things that are important
to me and I'm very present in whatever those things are. And that's really what it is. So
it's, it's a, it's really a lot of a use of time. I think that's one of the most valuable things
that we as a trio have ever learned as an adult is the power to say no to people, especially in
that kind of social aspect where it's like, is this worth my time? Is this going to, um, get in
the way of whatever professional shit that you have going on? So. Yeah. When you have something
that's both like, you know, the night that I went out to, I never, I say, I say no to everything.
I don't, I'm not social at all. People will be surprised that I'm very antisocial. I would say
I'm 90% homebody, maybe 95, 10%, five to 10% lunatic. So like when it's the night that
the margaritas are flowing and I want to have fun. And then I hear a DJ like in the distance,
like I don't care where I am. It could be at a Marriott lobby. I'm dancing. I'm having fun.
And you're a loser. If you don't want to do it, I am in pajamas at all times and want to totally
relax. So saying no is totally, totally powerful. But the night that I went to the Mark Burnett,
his team, my partners at MGM said that they wanted me to come to the Emmys. I didn't just
go to the Emmys. I went to the Emmys and I made sure to do the entire red carpet and tell everybody
that I had a show that I had sold and, you know, knock it out and have drinks and have fun and do
everything and do business to get home by one 30 in the morning. And like check so many boxes,
check social, check makeup and look pretty for one night, checked a little fashion,
checked, you know, and then that's it. That, that, that'll keep me going for six months.
Wow. I love this. I feel like I'm in church. I know. I'm like, and then, and then what happened?
I want to move on and I want to talk about Be Strong's partnership with the Global Empowerment
Mission. I just want to give some stats to our listeners. Bethany helped raise approximately
$5.7 million in funds and distributed over $19 million in protective equipment nationwide during
this COVID pandemic. And what I think is the most incredible about you, Bethany, is that
you make it look very easy and you actually make, I would say most other people of name
recognition look awful because you do make it look so easy. And I'm like, well, if Bethany
can get us a plane with PPE to where, like where the fuck is everybody else? So where is everybody
else? It's not their fault. They don't know how to do it. It's just, I used to produce large scale
events, the Emmys, the Grammys. I grew up in a very crazy childhood. I lived at the racetrack.
I'm a total hustler. I can move a hundred miles an hour and I get everything done. I drop no balls.
It is not for everybody. It is not normal charitable work. It is run and gun. And the
second that while the hurricane, for example, if it's a hurricane is still going, you're already
on the plane getting there. You're not exactly sure what you're doing. You're assessing the
situation. You're also at the same time talking to your following, which now I have trust in this
area about the fact that you're trying to raise money and they're starting to donate and they
want to know what you're going to do because the minute something bad happens, they are on me and
want answers because now I'm in this space. So then you're trying to assess it. You're trying
to get money at the same time. You're trying to find out what you plan to do, then tell your PR
people what you plan to do so you can try to get the message out so you can raise a lot of money
while trying to do it. And having partners with my voice and my network and my switchboard trying
to connect how to garner PPE and aid and materials to rebuild homes and churches. And you can't wait,
you can't like build, you can't build a business plan while people are dying. So you're sort of
doing everything at the same time, all in the name of transparency with the people that are donating,
because you're giving 100% to the effort, you're communicating what's happening. It's a very good
ROI for someone who wants to get into helping because they are, I'm telling them what we're
doing. It makes them feel powerful versus powerless. And they understand exactly how
much money is going. So the biggest problem in philanthropy is A, corruption, B, money for
bureaucracy and people don't know or trust where it's going and C, where the hell is the exact
plan? Like, what are you guys doing? I give money to some in the ether. So that's been sort of my
business model for that. And it works. And I don't know how we were able to get PPE. I mean,
i do know it's just the government has red tape and bureaucracy and they have other things to
worry about and there's a lot of corruption there was a lot of corruption in getting ppe we got 1.1
million hazmat suits to the state of new york we got a million masks and suits to all 50 states to
hospitals to police stations etc it's run and gun it's just you you're making a mistake you're not
sure you're nervous you're about to wire 18 million dollars to someone who says they have
millions of masks in a warehouse but you're playing cat and mouse with them because they
want you to give them the money and you're like you're a fucking liar and i need to see
the the the aid and then they take pictures of it and i'm like i don't need pictures i need just
someone i know to go to go uh investigate it so it's sort of like investigative reporting at the
same time because things are moving so quickly that people are stealing and scamming because
it's a great time to scam because things are moving so quickly so you have to like you have
to use a machete to kind of get through and figure it out and then you have all these hospitals that
you publicly promise that you're going to get something and sometimes when you're in the middle
of it you're jammed up and you just have to fight your way out and you're doing it alone because the
only person who understands all the information is me none of my staff except for my partner in
operations who's in uh the warehouse but so we're speaking the same language everyone else around us
can't keep up it's very crazy and it's not very healthy so i can't be 365 days a year doing that
almost like a crazy burst, like something's really bad and you get in and then it's months
until you can extricate yourself. You're like, okay, this last thing. And then I'm going to get
out. It's like, it's really crazy. And it's really intense. So it's not for everybody,
but celebrities get involved and they want to help. And sometimes they want to get too involved
because they want so much credit and they want to be holding the aid and taking pictures. And we're
like, ain't nobody got time for that. We just got to get it going. So it's been an amazing
educational experience because I have the skillset now. Wow. I love this. And this is why we don't
start anything of our own. We just ask everyone to give us money to give. Oh yeah, exactly. Well,
you have to know what you know, what you know and know what you don't know. That's a very big mantra
in business. A hundred percent. You're listening to the lady gang. All right. Rapid fire around
with Bethany. Here we go. What is one thing you wish more people knew about you? I don't wish that
anyone knew anything more about me um we watched yeah something that might be surprising about me
is that i'm such a homebody uh-huh and that i'm really just i always use the steaming dog pee at
home i'm always cleaning i'm always scrubbing something i'm always organizing something
i'm really just like a housewife i really really am i'm home with my daughter cleaning up toys and
trying to homeschool and I'm not fancy. I mean, I have really nice stuff that's all sitting in an
apartment that feels like a storage unit. But aside from having really nice belongings, I'm
never in makeup. I'm always in pajamas and I'm always just sort of home like a slob. I just think
that might surprise people. And then I work, I don't have an office really. I've never had a
computer. So I'm sort of old fashioned in a way. Wait, you still don't have a computer?
No, this is one that my office has, so my daughter can homeschool, and so I can do the
podcast.
Oh, my gosh.
Oh, I love this.
I have a question.
I have a question.
Do you consider yourself an introvert or an extrovert?
Both.
Same.
First.
Yeah.
When I go out, I'll be like, please don't set me next time.
I don't want to talk to anybody.
We're at the party.
I just want to get in my little corner.
and, but it's, but, but truthfully, this sounds like super becoming well-known makes you an
introvert. Yeah. What's the best compliment you've ever received? Wow. That's a great question. The
best compliment. Oh, I mean, I receive it a lot and, but then I'm a, that I'm to, to par that
I'm a great mother. And my ex who passed away said to me, I know so many people who have their
kids all the time. Cause there's times that my daughter's their dad and, um, they don't spend
nearly as much time as you do with your daughter and you don't have her all the time. I'm that I'm
a great mom. I love that. If you were a Britney Spears song, what would you be? Oops, I did it
again. Nice. What is something you wish you were good at, but you're terrible at? Maybe like any
kind of tech or social media or knowing how to post something or any, I mean, it's such a broad
thing because i know so little so knowing how to do anything like i don't know i mean i could
probably figure it out but i don't know how i would not never know how to get on this podcast
this podcast right now and i would never know how to post a like an instagram like start an
instagram live or something like my i said something on an on an instagram post about
giving away skinny girl stuff to to to subscribe to the podcast and that this weekend i'll announce
who the two people are on instagram live my assistant was like i'm not going to be here
this weekend. Oh, right. And she's like, Oh, I can figure it out. She's like, I don't know. Like
I, I'm not sure. So maybe we'll do that next week. And I'm like, don't do one of those things
and post one of those things where it will say like, I'm going to do it on next week. But just
like, right. One of those things, it says all that stuff. Oh my God. I love the fact that you
are such a successful business woman. And you're like, computers aren't for me. I'm like, that is
the best thing do you want somebody to teach you how to do this or you're like no i can't be
fucking bothered i don't have any more bandwidth no you're like no i love this wasted energy last
thing do you have anyone in your life that you hope is watching you and that you spitefully
hope notices how well you're doing like kevin from the fifth grade but it's a great story they
already do and it's such i don't even know them like not like high school or any of that stuff
they all know they all know everybody like that knows now none of that all that knows it's more
like i just we could write a list like there's a guy named bob tushman who ran the food network
who told me i was never really going to be on television because i kept calling all these
production companies i didn't know how the machine worked i didn't know that the network
has production companies producing different shows so like they have to decide if the
production company comes and pitches something to them so i just was looking on tv and looking at
the names and kept and at some different events and stuff would meet the production companies
and pitch myself and say I wanted to do a show.
And whether it was Gordon Elliott who said yes
and a guy named Mark Abrams, I think was his name,
they both liked me.
And so they would both bring me through
to the guy named Bob Tushman
who used to run the Food Network.
And he used to then, he called me directly.
He'd be like, stop bringing, it's not happening.
We're not doing a show with you.
Like you're not going to be on TV.
Oh, shit.
So he, that guy is now no longer there.
There's a guy named Jason
who was at William Morris Endeavor
who blew me off and has told people there.
they produced my podcast by the way so all good but told people they're biggest big mistake huge
so he said that because i begged people to represent me and then recently annie cohen who
told me to do a podcast he's like you're gonna crush it and i don't i think he knew it was gonna
be great but i think this is even exceeding what he thought but he kept telling me he wanted me to
launch radio andy he wanted me to be his flagship store like radio andy's coming up and our big show
is Bethany. So I started and he said, I didn't know if he was blowing flowers at my skirt. He's
like, you are so good at this. Oh my God, you're so good at this. And then they were calling me,
Melissa Loner, who used to run the Today Show every day and saying like, can we do it five
days a week? You could talk to a wall. You're good just on your own. We don't even need callers.
Like, can we do this? And I said, I don't want to do anything five days a week. If you told me I
could go up to Hermes in Midtown five days a week at a $10,000 shopping spree, I wouldn't want to
go up there through five days a week so we were talking then i went to this event for this cold
play concert and everybody was there every famous person also with locals but literally jay-z was
there like john bon jovi jimmy buffett it was a serious uh concert for cold play and i got invited
because i was now part of serious so these women were there and they were blocking everyone's
how it's beth stern was there whatever they were blocking everyone's view and they were like very
rich women like that didn't fit in with the celebrities nor the real like down in 30 Hampton
locals and they had sequins on and big diamonds they were all sitting on like a ledge like if I
was sitting up here and you guys were Coldplay and people were behind me you're trying to watch
and they were like it was so obnoxious because the security kept telling them to get down but
they don't care they're rich local douchebags and they're gonna get the view of Coldplay
they didn't fit in you're like these rich women so I don't know what happened maybe I had a drink
at me i can't imagine what happened i thought beer i saw a picture of beer i don't remember
what happened but i said is that your is that your orange can i get one of those orange juices
and they people kept saying move and they wouldn't and people were giving them the phone to take a
picture it was so obnoxious i couldn't see call play because these women's backs it was ridiculous
and that's not the vibe it was steven's talk house like a chill place so i turned around and i opened
up a bottle of orange juice and I doused all three of them oh so I did and it was and the next day
and I then bolted because I didn't know who it was and I just I left and I was like for a minute
I talked outside I talked to Don Bon Jovi for a second and the chairman James Meyer who was the
chairman of Sirius Radio came up to me and he said I think he's British maybe as an accent I thought
he said like a tall big guy he said you are exactly what Sirius needs you're amazing I'm
thinking holy and he's like you're amazing I'm like no one's gonna who cares whatever who are
you know there were no who are these people so I leave and I get home and it gets picked up in
page six and I know exactly who placed it but so it's in page six and it turns out that it was
Gary Cohn the guy who worked for Trump his wife was the one in the middle and she wasn't even the
nasty one she was fine she was the friends who were just so insufferable and Gary Cohn's right
now so all of a sudden I don't hear from Sirius they're not calling they've been calling every
day Scott Greenstein got a list of names and I'm checking it twice I love this so much
was blowing me off and my boyfriend Dennis who was like a finance guy he passed away
he said to me you know I go what's going on and he goes Gary Cohn Gary Cohn Boba he goes
Gary Cohn used to run Goldman he goes I bet you Goldman did the first round of funding for Sirius
radio so i'm like holy mother oh so they go blacklisted they just blow me out but no one
will tell me why no one will tell me why andy i said andy i said to him was it the call play
thing he's like i think it was the call play thing and he's like i told him you're going to
be amazing shit i told him you're going to be amazing so they blew me out so i just asked for
the guy scott's email and i said to him it was lovely to work with you for the time that we
worked together, that must've been a very cold splash. So now when this came out, Andy was like,
big mistake, huge. Like here I am. Huge. Yeah. Here I am. Wow. I had you on Sirius. That's what
he said. So that is a true story. Wow. I love this. Like a Phoenix. She rises from the juice
and rains down her mimosa on the podcasting world.
I don't want my daughter, that's not the right thing to do.
And I would not want my daughter to know that sort of,
but it just came over me.
I can't explain it.
They represented everything that was like the juxtaposition
of what this concert was.
Cause it was a chill, local, down and dirty bar.
And it was just like what the Hamptons once in a while
becomes non, just cool where you literally have
like famous people, but then really like local lifeguards,
you know and then these people blocking everyone's view it was just like crazy here we are speaking
of the podcast i know andy is going to be an upcoming guest because you're kind of doing
business powerhouses and then entertainment powerhouses um so what what is the question
that you are going to ask andy on the podcast that you've always wanted to ask him well i
he was it was recorded and it will air soon but we i asked him um if his son was gay
um and he told me that what diane that diane von furstenberg weighed in on that so you'll
wait to hear that wait how old is his son the baby okay um i asked him
i asked him like sort of about when he came out and i just we're friends but i did not realize
that we are both like through every guest i'm finding out something that i have in common with
them and things that they have in common with each other and these are not people that have
anything in common with one another and Dana White is like a mother for UFC owner that my
whole staff who was on the call was like I'm scared you know I do not want to be in a brush
up with him and and then you have John Paul DeGioia who owns Patron and Paul Mitchell who's
like you know let the Lord be with you and Maria Shrava who's like every day I just say like God
use me and then you have you know Isaac Mizrahi who's like who's a Syrian Jew who is a gay man
who's married, like everyone's so different, but everyone has these similar threads. And Andy and
I both have the decisive gene and the Dana White, the UFC guy. And I both have the come from a place
of yes, like figure it out gene. So that's, what's been really interesting that you can take a whole
toolbox from all their wisdom and make your own toolbox of business. Oh, it's very cool. And for
the last thing I just want to props, um, Bethany, because she created an entire thing, um, for women
like us that we actually used on our TV show. And it it's happily called the Bethany clause,
but essentially when she was on television, she was like, Hey, by the way, you can have me
on television. I'm going to take like some $7,000 a season, like horrible rate. Um, and, but you
can't have anything else I'm working on. And I wanted you to know that when we went on to our
negotiations with Eve for our show, we were like, we have to get the Bethany Claus. They can't have
our merch. They can't have our boxes. They can't have our tours. And we, and they pushed back and
we fought hard for that. I mean, it was a fight, but did the Bethany Claus like by name come up?
Cause agents know about it. Oh yeah. We were like, it has to be this exact thing. And they were like,
okay. And we did not have take as much money, but we were like, we're going to own everything.
and you know, when the show ended, we were like, great, bye. Like, and it was so powerful to know
that we hadn't given up a piece of ourselves. So thank you for that. And you know, you've kind of
paved the way for so many people, but I think this is, it's such a major thing. And I don't
think a lot of people, our listeners won't know about it because it's a very like Hollywood
business thing, but it's really cool. It means that I, well, what's more important takeaway is
that you don't have to be a good contract person. You don't have to consider yourself a good
business. Cause I was not, I've never been a good contract person, but I'm a very good
conceptual person. I'm a very good chess player. So I can, I didn't have any business then just
conceptually. What if I do something? There was nothing. I had nothing. I was broke. What if I do
something? I don't like this part, you know? So you're thinking down the road and I was the first
person to monetize reality television. And yeah, I mean, people say I ruined it for everybody,
but that was what was important to me. But by the way, it's not just about that. In some cases,
I've said in getting a raise, okay, I'll take less, but you need to let me do more. So sometimes
you get locked up in something, you know, I'll take less. You need to let me do more. Or when
I was doing my beam deal for the cocktails, everyone thinks it was just for the money.
It was partially for the money. It was also for the street cred and the press I was going to get
for turning a brand. But then it was also because I wanted, oh, I had a partner and we were partners
and we owned the intellectual property. We owned the girl and the name together. And he was a
liquor guy and I wanted to get him to extricate him. There was, I'd have to be tied to him and
ask his permission for everything forever. So I had to get him out to do that. So it doesn't
matter what the content is. There are many different ways to negotiate and get what you
need, it doesn't always have to be money. And the Bethany Clause is an example of that. And
there are literally about 10 more Bethany Clauses now that networks are changing for things that
I've come to them and created because I'm always creating new legal trickery. Just catch me if you
can. I love this. I love this. I love this. Well, Bethany Frankel, I know you're all following her,
