By the way, in the next few weeks, we will also be posting complete episodes of Lady Gang TV. Are we going to get sued? Probably. But until we get sued, we're leaving them up. We're not taking them down.
Starting point is 00:00:35 So head on over to youtube.com slash the Lady Gang. Subscribe today, watch our podcast and also watch some great episodes of a TV show canceled way before it's time. Thanks in advance for your support. Well, what is this? Welcome to the Lady Gang. That's amazing. Say that again. The Lady gang. Things are about to change around here. Each week we catch up with Hollywood's hottest girl posse, Kelty Knight, Becca Tobin, and Jack Vanek. Hello, hello, hello. Welcome to Lady Gang. I am Becca Tobin here with Jack Vanek and Kelty Knight. Good day to you. Good day to you. Kelty's in a business tie. And I got shit on it. Of course you did. Oh, a lot of shit on it. I got hummus on it and some other stuff do you think you need a bib yeah i do i need an adult why don't we have
Starting point is 00:01:22 a sexual adult can i do that you know what we always come up with like great merch ideas and we never make them because we're you know kind of busy but not really merch but just inventions you know yeah i feel like there should be like a fendi bib yeah and i put it on like there's gotta be you guys what you should do my friend john used to take come here callie my friend john used to take the soft bags you get when you buy a nice purse or a nice designer pair of shoes and he would make them
Starting point is 00:01:53 into little dog dresses and outfits. You could have a little Chanel dog dress. But what if he takes them and makes them into adult bibs? That's not a bad idea. A lady bib. Or a lady apron. Because I was actually preparing
Starting point is 00:02:09 a few snacks and I was wearing a white t-shirt the other day yeah and we had people over and i was like i want i wish i had a good apron but that's really weird but i just genuinely wanted to protect the white shirt the other thing about an apron though and i'm just gonna put it out there it's the wrong shape altogether it always is for like for it to start here this is my splash zone okay your chest your clavicle i need so i need that i need the fucking apron to be like almost like a we need a sexy mature like a halter top dress yeah where it's tied up here because i don't want to get my shit on this part i'm not as worried
Starting point is 00:02:45 about things well i should be but like i'm not as worried about things below splash i knew what time was in splash that's really funny when you're like this is my actually very good because it's like even like anyway it's an interesting splash zone okay i'm ready all right well uh it's time for good week yes it is bad week oh no who would like to jump in okay um i'm going first i have a good week and a bad week obviously that's what you're that's the assignment yeah okay my good week is is that i'm really excited that bobby bones is here on the show if you know the history between me and bobby bones yeah there was we're gonna talk we're gonna talk about it but like we his whole fan base hated me and came after me and you know and i admitted that i was wrong
Starting point is 00:03:31 and then just recently when we were doing the casting for superfan i actually appeared on his radio show as his guest and i don't think he put two and two together after i like until after i instagrammed him because i was like you were great on anyway so i feel like there's a lot to unpack with bobby bones so my good week is like i you know you guys know i love to up and then i love to apologize you love big cups big apologies so i'm ready for that my bad week's a little more serious. Um, so I had this crazy thing happen. So last year, a woman that I was working with had breast cancer and it was very traumatic and awful for her. And I turned 40 and you're supposed to do, you know, your well women and then your first mammogram. Yeah. And in typical
Starting point is 00:04:14 Kelty fashion, I can put it off for an entire year. So I turned 41. I finally made the appointment. i had the appointment done i got busy i pushed it two weeks and two days before my mammogram my old boss called me and she was like i just want to let you know that i've just been through breast cancer treatment i had a full double mastectomy it was awful but like i was not strong enough to call people and tell people while i was going through it i wanted to wait till i was after and i'm just letting you know and i was like oh my god like i'm talking about her and then i'm in my head i'm like do not can cancel this mammogram again you idiot like this is a sign from baby Jesus that you need to go do this. So anyway, I went into my mammogram
Starting point is 00:04:55 and it's my first one. And so like they, have you either had one yet? I've had one. Yeah. Okay. So they take your boob essentially as if it's a stress ball and they put you up against this thing. And then they just like, they literally push whatever you have. And she's like trying to pull more out. I'm like, that's all there is. But, um, so I, I did that. And then, um, they were like, it's inconclusive. And so they did the sonogram, which is like call a dense breast um test so like if you are flat chested sometimes they do it or if you were an athlete and you have like a lot of muscle build up behind your chest they do it so they do the sonogram and i'm i'm sitting in the in the thing and she's taking like forever on my right breast
Starting point is 00:05:33 like forever like i'm like something's going on because you know like you know they're like like even when you get a pap and like all that stuff and i was like something's going on and i was like okay and I'm like because she's like like taking a million pictures and I was like mother so by the time I got out to the car they had called me back that they found something that is something in my breast and I'm going back in again in three months to look at it now I of course like go into a f***ing tizzy because I've just been through this with my friend and I also put off my mammogram and I was like this has been building in me for all these years this is my first mammogram no one would have ever found it I have felt like shit I haven't been able I had
Starting point is 00:06:14 all those iron things and then I still have to go back because my iron will not stay level I'm like something is up with me so I totally freak out and then I start calling my friends and everyone's like well this happens all the time like I've had so many cysts when I've gone in for like sonograms and stuff and I was like okay I'm so I'm being cool about it but I want to I was like I'm not going to say anything because everyone's going to be like oh my god you like want to call TMZ about like a, like a cyst in your breast, you know? But then I decided, no, I'm going to say something cause I'm freaked out. I don't know the answer yet. It's probably nothing. You know what I mean? Like she said in three months, we'll decide if we're going to biopsy
Starting point is 00:06:49 it. I was talking to my friend, Kristen. She's like, I've had multiple biopsies that turned out to be nothing. Like, and they wouldn't make you wait three months. They thought it was something really, really bad. They would literally go in tomorrow immediately. Yeah. So I'm like, okay. So I'm like cool about it. But I was like, no, I do want to say this because we have so many female listeners. And I know that the lab, we put ourselves last so many times, like our health and our diets and our, these tests that we have to do are well, women's tests and getting our blood work done and all this stuff. We put it last because we're like, I'm fine. And I'm used to feeling like shit. And I'm just feeling like shit because I'm exhausted. And my life is hard.
Starting point is 00:07:24 Like, so don't can put it off. If you're above 40, go for your mammogram, go do it. And just, that's all i wanted to say about that and your pap smear and pat i know somebody who's been married for 10 years and everybody thinks when you're in like a monogamous relationship that it's less important but it's she just had a full hysterectomy because of pre-cancerous stuff because of hpv it's living in all of us it's a beautiful friend that we all carry that well and if you can catch those pre-cancerous cells so easily because they're so slow going if you're getting your normal path yes and you have to go you have to go and lately they've been telling women you can go every two years don't listen no don't you i go every six months well because of
Starting point is 00:08:06 hpv yeah i'm like abnormal paths but i'm like nope i'm like i don't care if you tell me to come a year i'm calling you in six months yeah no it's it's like it's it could not be more important and i put it off for so long because that's just like what i do yeah and i was just like no and i'm sure it's nothing yeah but the fact that my this other friend of mine my old boss was like oh i just went in for my once yearly like she's in her 50s she's like i went in for my once yearly and like they found this whole thing and had to you know so it's like you just have to go and this is the way to do it so well i think that there are so many things that you can't prevent in life and there's there's gonna be so many things that are gonna happen to people regardless bad things all the time
Starting point is 00:08:42 but if there's something that you can do that's preventable from something bad happening to you it's like you just have to do it yeah like you know what i mean you can't kick yourself i agree if you're like making excuses or doing other things or like whatever yeah so anyway let's go There should also be an easier way. Like women should just get free paps and free mammograms, period. Like what the, we literally, well, I didn't because I'm inadequate, but we literally bring life into this world. You don't think that we could also get a free pap smear once a year and a free mammogram
Starting point is 00:09:13 thrown in there for like, I don't know, keeping everyone human race going. Yeah, I know. It's crazy. And it's like our bodies are always fighting against us at every given moment. Well, also you're thinking like if you didn't have health insurance and it was going to be a couple thousand dollars to do those tests every year you wouldn't do them don't have that too yeah i know it's crazy you a lot of people you earth anybody okay anyway sorry sorry to bring it down but let's bring it back up i'll lighten it up okay so we know that 2023 is the year of big
Starting point is 00:09:40 pharma becca kind of set it up in the beginning of the year and i have a new drug mature i have a new drug to tell everybody about yes i don't know this is insane not sponsored i don't even know what it's not yet. I don't know what it's called, but I can look it up. Okay. Okay. So I'm going to tell you what it is and then I'll look it up when somebody else is going. I'll probably know it. Okay. So there is a drug, a constipation drug. Oh my God. Sign her up. It doesn't have any medicine in it, but what it does, it's this little pill and you like activate it on your bedside table on something and you swallow it and it vibrates down into your intestines. Sorry, you activate it like a furby like it wiggles it vibrates for like six hours and it gets all
Starting point is 00:10:28 of your shit moving in your stomach and it like helps with your constipation it's like leading the way it's like this is i don't even know what to say about this okay this doesn't feel real or legal it's real it's legal and can you describe it looks like a pill it is a pill it's like okay you know like the like the how is it running is it like my battery my invisalign cleaner the sonic um like the sonic yeah whatever cleans it probably is it sonic motion a little but it still would need a battery and i don't think we should be eating batteries no it's i mean i'd say the fda proved it but they proved it i don't know but yeah it goes down into your shit literally and it starts vibrating everything and it helps you feel it vibrating some people said that they could
Starting point is 00:11:16 feel it did you not i haven't used it oh it's jack it literally just got released like last week oh okay be the guinea pig i want this to be i want you to be the guinea pig i'm really excited about it i'm gonna find the name of it they've gotta have to have a spokes what is it vibrant vibrant vibrant i can be a vibrant something sad happy honestly for enough money i'd let you swallow that pill for enough money i would swallow the pill but the thing is for a free prescription. Well, I will say no. No. No.
Starting point is 00:11:52 No. I mean, my prescription's costing a dollar. God stopped us both in our tracks. I was like, absolutely not. No. We have a wedding to pay for. I'm farting on Callie so hard right now. She probably loves it. She loves it. She's bliss. She doesn't need Vibrant. No, she does not.
Starting point is 00:12:09 Becca's the opposite of Vibrant. She's like warm. She needs a yeah i need the thing you stick up your butt and it stops um no but jack when you go to we care they literally i think yes they put you on the technology on a wiggle board because it's good for your poop it really is like it's good and you know the other thing is i think if you did more yoga it's also like the same thing because i will say if i ever get constipated i start doing like some yoga moving my body around
Starting point is 00:12:39 yeah and your budget i do a twist every night jared don't i do yoga twists every night wow yeah still doesn't work why why is it a brick in there yeah stop trying on wedding dresses a nighttime twist i love a nighttime twist please jared is it like this twist yeah where you lay down like this oh that's a great yeah but that's not enough twisting i do i'll do lots of twists okay i don't believe you until i see it on tiktok oh god it didn't okay well big pharma can't wait for this vibrant sponsor me um so my bad week is there is an ai seinfeld have you guys heard about this no okay so somebody created this ai thing based on seinfeld and a bunch of other different sitcoms and basically it plays 24 hours a day on twitch they have a twitch stream every minute is
Starting point is 00:13:31 like a new bit based on ai the seinfeld ai has become sentient sorry sorry dude i would rather talk about sconces nobody likes the things no i'm no no i love it i love it i'm so excited sentient so it like i'm sorry we just died over your vibrating yeah poop hill okay so don't say we're not enthusiastic about what you bring to the table ma'am whatever this ai became sentient it knows like that it's like a real thing i don't like that oh and like the other one that was like i want to get rid of human race yes it's like there so now all their skits are about like what is life like existential questions why are we in this thing and i'm like i don't know why out of all of the like ai things nothing has freaked me out except for this because i'm like
Starting point is 00:14:18 are we are we the seinfeld like is this really our world and we're just these little 8-bit characters like questioning yes of course it freaks me out oh i know it's so weird i can't stop thinking jack what we don't matter nothing matt well i know nothing matters nothing matters that's obvious why do we still care you know what i mean it's like yeah i don't get it it's we're programmed this way as humans or we would just fail to exist yeah you wouldn't keep going still a part of us yeah do you have a sunless tanner mishap or is it bronzer because i can't stop looking at your nose where look at this side of your nose i might have not i'm sorry i'm just noticing it the light changed i don't know do you know what i'm talking about
Starting point is 00:15:00 oh yeah that's a yeah it's a little makeup it's not okay i tried to contour my nose it's not mixed never good to contour your own nose okay continue on all right um my bad week is something it's just heartbreaking it is so sad oh god my teeth won't whiten anymore because they're so white no they're not sexy mature they're not that white yeah i they are they're so white they're so white becca every time i put myself on tape for an audition i'm like they're not hiring me i look like i smoke a pack a day and drink merlot in the morning like it's so they're so dim no they're not really no you're just used to seeing them all the time they're very white you look like you have veneers they're the color of the whites of your eyes this is the greatest day of my life
Starting point is 00:15:49 they are very poorly lady gang if i needed to go if this something existed along have you gone to the dentist and done it it hurts so hurts so bad oh no i need i like i wanted to know maybe this will help someone else out there who actually has yellow teeth and can't help it sorry i didn't know but i thought i fell in that category i was thinking there should be like a way you could go to the dentist and not like a not um what's a flipper no it's just like a paint can they not you know i was actually wondering that i'm like there's got to be a better way right but i did see that there was a product that was like it was the purple shampoo for your teeth yeah that's like a tiktok scam i have no idea there's no way okay well okay swallowing a vibrating pill
Starting point is 00:16:33 no that's literally like those tiktok things that they're like you can just clear all of your acne by going like this it's like a filter same thing okay all right um my good week is my boner is back for instagram oh creating content no you've been you've been doing really good i think you haven't been told by somebody you need to start i thought you were told by someone i thought you were told by someone no i i just was like got quiet i meditated on it and i was like do you dislike it Do you dislike the pressure? Do you dislike this, that, whatever? And it was like, I dislike the pressure.
Starting point is 00:17:07 So if I just, this is what I have to do with everything in my life. I have to denounce it. Yeah. Say that I'm done with it. Bye. And then I will, if I feel like it's on my terms. Yeah. Welcome home.
Starting point is 00:17:21 You know what? I will. Roll the tape. Roll the tape. Pass the salt. Not that one either. No. Devil's advocate.
Starting point is 00:17:28 No. Bleak. Maybe. This is bleak. but anyways i now that i know i don't have to do it because actually on a meeting with our representatives who get us deals for instagram and tiktok i openly said i don't care and i won't keep trying i remember it was it was a choice i've been saying that i was like i can i take your followers i'll care i care so much if i could post a reel and get a hundred thousand views on
Starting point is 00:17:52 like a shitty reel yeah i'm like i would be oh my god i'm happy when i get 10 i i think i just had to not look at like I just do it when I want to do it I don't do it like it doesn't necessarily always look pretty it just is what it is and I'm I am enjoying it again yeah I have wow I found she's back

Like, have I progressed and am I mature? I am.
Starting point is 00:22:47 I feel good. I forgot about that, though. But because, like, it doesn't matter. But hello, everyone. Let's just get into it. So for people who haven't listened before, Becca, why don't you discuss. Oh, yeah, you guys said I was ugly. That's right.
Starting point is 00:23:03 That's not true. Oh, my God. I remember this now. It's not we. I think it was Kelsey. It was just Kelty. In my defense, I did not. Didn't Kelty, like, come on my show?
Starting point is 00:23:14 Yeah, yeah. We need to discuss the whole thing. I love that Bobby is so fucking busy that he, like, barely even remembers this happening. No, that's not the reason. I think I just, like my therapist says, I block out. I repress. Grateful thing. And you know what?
Starting point is 00:23:29 We should do that at the end so I'm not, like, on tilt for the whole whatever. But it's your show. I will follow whatever you guys want to do. no because we owe well i owe you an apology and then i did come on your show becca's gonna explain for everyone who doesn't know we're talking about i'm gonna paint the picture part one of the story tanya rad is a friend of the show a friend in real life a friend she's a friend to all women you know what i mean she's a wonderful wonderful lady this was years ago and she was really on the hunt bad place bad place was picking all the wrong men and was just like really looking
Starting point is 00:24:00 for love you know so she comes on our show we're discussing potential suitors i believe did she admit to having a crush yeah she admitted to having a crush so she admits to having a crush on mr bones here and kelty erupts with absolutely not makes you vomit it makes you no i think there was a part in there about not wanting like a guy in the public eye that was definitely a piece of it which you are um i don't remember specifics but it wasn't the most glowing reaction you pulled up pictures and you were like oh like i know well in my defense i blame google because then i saw you in real life she came back on the podcast after seeing you in real life and said we made a major mistake i made a mistake google no it's not
Starting point is 00:24:52 it's frazier harrison from getty images fault because he took a picture of you on a red carpet it and it's the main one that comes up and it's like 12 years old it wasn't the best bobby and i've been there so i understand so i knew i was wrong that's like my airplane landed in a city i didn't know i'd ever been to and now i'm here and i'm like oh yeah that's right i've been mugged in the city before i hate them so so then what happened was that bobby got wind of it he played it on his show his fans who are amazing were like kelty you're dead to us and i was like oh my god but i apologize i realized i was wrong but no one saw that part and so then what happened was like just a few months ago we were casting my super fan show and the the casting director was like
Starting point is 00:25:40 you know what you need to do if you need country music fans you got to go on the most powerful man in country music bobby bone show and tell everyone you're looking for shania super fans and i was like great book me amazing i remembered of course what was happening bobby i get on with bobby and i was like oh my god amazing and he's so nice to me and i was like this guy has no he does not remember that this is and then by the end i was like oh so you're really hot and great and and then like we hung up and i was like i don't think he remembers that it's me and then when the publicity teams were like we can have bobby bones on the show i was like you know what we gotta have bobby and i want to squash this beef bobby because it was a bad getty images picture you're hot
Starting point is 00:26:17 you're incredibly rich you have all the jobs i wish i had now you're married so i was wrong i apologize to you and please accept i want us to move forward because i have many questions for you i'm good i haven't i mean uh yeah it was the only time though well it's been a few times where i literally did nothing and got attacked most of the times i deserve it like i say crap or i do crap and it's like you know it comes to the territory if i have big opinions i expect other people to have big opinions but i just remember somebody sending a clip and i was like huh i didn't even ask if i was cute or not and uh but here we are i obviously did not put two and two together but yeah i remember you coming on the show and we talked about it and one of my co-hosts
Starting point is 00:26:58 yes morgan shania fan and obviously she wasn't going to be on it but we were just making a funny bit there yeah i think about it but we hung up and mike my producer goes you remember that was the girl that and i was like oh i wish i would have remembered that but here we here we are and i literally don't i literally don't care did you and tanya ever go on a date no never no it's just like a crush from afar yeah it was a crush from afar but i get it like i also and and in my defense and we're gonna move on because we have other things to talk about but i had a similar situation just happen with i would say the other you know most powerful guy in music and radio which is ryan seacrest like i feel like i for years have been like how the f**k did ryan seacrest get
Starting point is 00:27:40 julianne huff like he gets the hottest girls and then i i just interviewed him for american idol for this new season and in person and i wrote the makeup artist and i was like no ryan seekers is super and smoke show in person like so hot beautiful eyes confident like ryan and i'm gonna get to know ryan too because we worked together four years on idol he's ryan's just like sure of himself right and you know i i'm not trying to make out with him but i would he's like so sure of himself that I would be like, all right, let's do it. Let's go. But I, and I think that's probably a big part of why anyone's attractive, right? I mean, that if you just like feel comfortable with who you are and you know who you are and if you're not for somebody,
Starting point is 00:28:19 okay, next up. But, um, I think even, you know, hopefully that as I've gotten a little older, I've gotten a little more confident, more neurotic. I mean, the, the, the bills for therapy have piled up, but still I feel like again, I've, I've, I've matured. I've progressed. yeah and i mean that my last thought on this all is that i um i am uh someone that is compared to my celebrity doppelganger is um what's his name he's old steven tyler so i mean i get it steven tyler at all sometimes she does he does sometimes don't do i would never no okay so we're very sorry we're all good no need we're all good look at us all four of us in the same virtual room uh kumbaya holding hands didn't even remember until you brought it up at the beginning and now
Starting point is 00:29:04 a little bit i'm on like 10 tilt but i'm good i'll shake it no don't tell don't tell here's what i want to know i want to know how you got where you are like where we have this thing on our show called hollywood heartbreak and ish moment and ish moment is the moment where you were like i worked so freaking hard and now what i work for is coming true and i'm the ish and hollywood heartbreak is a thing where you were supposed to host uh american ninja warrior or whatever it was and you didn't get the job and your heart broke so where do you want to go first hollywood heartbreaker ish moment uh let's do heartbreak first i was just thinking of what came to mind when it happened um i was supposed to host the acms a couple years ago which is huge yeah one
Starting point is 00:29:46 of the big award shows and they they had called a few months prior to the new year and the show usually in the first part of the year and they're like hey we'd love for you to host the show and that's kind of what i've been working toward meaning i never wanted to be a stand-up comedian but i've been touring doing stand-up for like four or five years in theaters uh because i knew at some point i was going to finally get called on you know and with people and just in radio and i'll put finger quotes on that even though no one can see it and i really didn't do it um up that you know people go well if they're in radio they must only do radio because that's their only talent you know there's this feeling about folks and ryan's a great example of someone who can do
Starting point is 00:30:26 so many things and i love radio because long form especially my show right like i'm not really a dj because i don't write much music i talk and you guys under you guys know people can love you or hate you long form a lot easier if you're able to go long form and so you know i'd done radio and you know was doing a lot of comedy and written some books and so i got pretty good not great but pretty good for as much as i could tour and they were like hey we're ready for you we have the skill set we want you to host the acms and then i don't know three weeks before the announcement two weeks for the announcement they called and said hey never mind oh yeah it sucked it sucked and it it sucked so bad that i don't really go too high too low i think you know
Starting point is 00:31:13 I think anyone, especially with some specific traumas, like I have, uh, I don't get excited about stuff and I don't want to get that sad either. And so, but I got, I got pretty excited and I was crushed when that, cause I, so that's, that's the heartbreak of it. And you know, I'd say it'll be fine. And if it doesn't happen, whatever, if it doesn't happen, award shows are lame, but really I want to do it. But if it doesn't happen, award shows are lame and nobody cares and the ratings every year but you can um another one okay let's i mean i have like 100 heartbreaks but this is one from last year that i like i had just i kind of had to hold true even though it was a sucky situation where i hosted cbs new years and this is two years ago the first
Starting point is 00:32:00 year they had done it from nashville and it was me and rachel smith and had a co-host yeah and i I was so fucking pissed they didn't ask me. Yeah, that was my heartbreak. Well, great. And here we are. Let's spend some more time with that. So why did you feel heartbroken? Because I host the Thanksgiving Day Parade for them, and I'm not even American, so I don't even celebrate American Thanksgiving.
Starting point is 00:32:19 I much more adapt for a small sparkly dress on New Year's Eve, but they didn't ask me. And then they were like, you're not country enough. And I was like, I'm from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. I grew up in the land of Garth Brooks. I'm from the same province as Shania. Like, go—anyway. That's not the land of Garth Brooks, though. Oklahoma's the land of Garth Brooks.
Starting point is 00:32:34 Like, I think the Shania thing is good, but the Land of Garth Brooks does not work when it's literally not the Land of Garth Brooks. Okay, sorry. Anyway, they were like, you're not country enough. And I was like, okay. So anyway, I was pissed, but I was really happy for you, and I thought you all did a great job. And I did watch you. Thank you. It was fine.
Starting point is 00:32:50 It was fun. The weather got bad at some point, and they were like, hey, if the weather gets bad or something breaks, you're just going to cover. And I'm like, no problem. I do five hours of live radio. It happened on Idol a couple times where they were like, hey, we just need you to do two minutes. Go. That's fine. Throw it on me.
Starting point is 00:33:05 I do it all the time. So it happens. Listen, there were points where I had to like hold the show up. So that comes and goes. The next year comes back and they offer me the job again. Hey, why don't you just come back? Same deal. And I was like, I don't want to have the same deal though because last year I had to host 90% of the show, meaning there were tech issues.
Starting point is 00:33:26 and when there were weather issues it was all you just depending on me i said and look at ryan look at miley everybody's got their name on their show so i think at least in promos you gotta put my name on the show i'm not asking for any more money it wasn't good money anyway it was i mean relative to how i grew up it's great money it was like 40 grand 40 grand and some clothes right and so but i was like okay i'll do it but i you gotta put my name as the host of the show And they were like, no, we can't do that. I said, well, then I can't do the show. Thinking, all right, we're 50-50 here.
Starting point is 00:34:01 They may go, okay, well, then you can't do it. Or they may go, okay, you can have your name on the show. And they said, we can't put your name on the show. And I was like, all right, I got to walk. And so I walked. And so that sucked because I didn't want to walk. But also it was one of those weird places where I felt like my value, and I wasn't asking for more money, but I felt like my value was more than their appreciation for what a host could do.
Starting point is 00:34:22 So I had to make that bit of a heartbreak decision to go, man, I worked hard to get this, but I don't feel like they're being respectful of like the craft and what they had me do last year and what they're going to ask me to do this year. So I got to walk. And I wish they hadn't. I wish they had just said, yeah, I'll put your name on it. But that sucked. So I would say those two were pretty tough industry wise.
Starting point is 00:34:42 And I just keep thinking you're not from the land of Garth Brooks. Honest to God, I can't believe you would say that. That's not Garth Brooks. She makes big, big claims, sweeping. I mean, you can't even imagine. I guess Earth is the land of Garth Brooks, and so in that capacity, you are correct. And then what was the other one you asked? Well, no, I want to ask you about this because I think this is really interesting, and it's something we talk about with the women on this show so often is, like, we're scared to ask for what we want, and then we get turned down, and it's like, so we just never fucking ask.
Starting point is 00:35:10 And I love that you're sharing that story because it's proof that it actually happens to men, too, because we think, oh, my God, they just get the stuff, and it's easy for them. And like, I actually really love that. And it's also really hard because I do feel like, and I, and I mean this with love, like, I feel like Ryan and Juliana were the last two television hosts that get treated like stars. Everybody else becomes just the person hosting the thing. and like you're right and it's like you have you know you are the most important you want a song to be a hit you go on bobby bones show like you know what i mean like you have a massive fan base you have a super powerful you are super powerful in your world like there is no reason why you shouldn't have bobby bones new year's from nashville like that makes so much sense but it's like it's almost this thing of like where the stars have come in and now all these stars it's like sierra can get her name on it or miley can get her name on it but like hosts are not stars
Starting point is 00:36:05 the way they used to be. And it's, it's hard. Cause you're like, I grew up watching like Dick Clark and all these things. And like, eventually you would become Barbara Walters and you're doing the Barbara Walters interview, but like, no, you're just that person doing the interview for whoever you're working for now. It's weird. Yeah. I think that's a great point too in that. Yeah. I mean, the generation of your, of the older days is, is not here. However, if you want something, you have to ask for it, but you gotta be prepared if they say no to actually walk. And that was very hard to do. And, you know, I don't regret it, but I've never told that story like that with all included mostly because I'm embarrassed, right? It sucks to have
Starting point is 00:36:45 to go, well, they didn't feel like I was worthy enough to put my name on it. And so, but I think that's probably a lot of the reason man, woman, and again, I think women are better at speaking out about it, communicating about it better than guys are. But for just for my instance and other dudes i know that's an embarrassing story to go they didn't value me enough in order to make the change that i asked for they did they did not think i was good enough i feel inferior and i'm going to so you women in general in my life at least and i was raised by all women a mom a grandma um you have a larger capacity to communicate that without feeling the shame that we do because i think we're it's kind of instilled in us do not be weak do not do not show shame because you must
Starting point is 00:37:29 be strong because you're you're dude um but you know yeah it happens and it happened and it sucked and that was that one wasn't as big of a blow as the acms because i chose to walk from that one but that one still hurt my feelings a lot i mean because that's just i'm going well we don't you're disposable and we'll get somebody else and the ratings were way down so suck it oh you want the other one you got the good one uh i do want the good one but i do want to say this i'm very attracted to you right now bobby bones oh god it's that vulnerability vulnerability is like so fucking hot google me and uh you can vomit we'll be back to even no no no okay so next is the um this is the uh ish moment so this is the thing the opposite of acm moment this is the thing when
Starting point is 00:38:14 you're like i and i'm the master of my territory i am garth brooks in oklahoma city thank you well he's from tulsa but still um so um i have such a weird misinformation yes it's you're basically russia propaganda here uh so i have such a weird patchwork career because i'm not really great at anything but i figure how to be pretty good at a lot of things and so i would say the first one is not anything of significance to where you'd be like wow that's crazy but i would say the first real one was um i was doing nights at a radio station like the nighttime shift and i was leaving i got a better job offer but the station i was on sucked and it was doing terrible in the ratings i was 22 and i was like i want to do mornings and they were like we don't let 22 year olds do
Starting point is 00:38:59 mornings in a big city and i was like all right well i'm gonna go and they were like whoa wait and they gave me 50 000 a year as a contract for a few years and for a trailer park kid i thought i was rich i mean it was really the greatest moment of my life where it was i don't have to like check my atm to stop and check to make sure i have enough money to pay the bills and eat and that was that moment that's probably with a lot of the cool things that happened my career the biggest moment of my career was getting that first contract a salary which i never had before and it was fifty thousand dollars a year and it was like the biggest uh weighted vest was taken off of me and so again that's not like crazy like wow wow eyeball so big but that's that's number
Starting point is 00:39:47 one um you know i got put in the radio hall of fame i was the youngest person to ever get put in and that was super cool so the radio stuff has been great because we've built an empire here and it's to me radio is just anything you can get on your phone and i've been able to be hopefully honest and authentic with my listeners for long enough that they trust me even if they don't like me sometimes like i'm cool with that right we don't like anybody all the time i don't even like myself all the time and so i i hope we have the deal of it's okay you can get annoyed by me i get annoyed by me but i hope at least you know coming from a place where i'm trying and i may be wrong sometimes but i'm trying and i'm trying to be right and honest and sometimes you find out you're
Starting point is 00:40:26 wrong um so that was big um on the tv side i i did american idol for one episode and it only brought me into work with some of the kids on how to be interviewed but i went in and what i found was with a lot of these kids kids some of them were 24 but most of them were very young that they were like i wasn't they'd never been to a big city before they were had to go there for work i'd never been to new york or los angeles i'm from arkansas and so i started connecting with them on that and we put that on camera a little bit the short version of the story is i ended up doing two episodes and i was like five thousand bucks in the hole that's paying my own way they didn't even know i didn't live in california the idol people didn't and they were paying sag
Starting point is 00:41:06 minimal but i was flying out there standing in a hotel and i'd finished that i did four episodes that season and the last episode paid pretty well it's like 50 000 for the episode but the next year when i went in they signed me for a couple years and each year was like 1.2 million 1.5 million and so it was like god dang i didn't even know i mean that that was big just because i was like wait i went from making well first of all losing money to making a little bit for one episode and then going they're now gonna pay me like 2.6 million dollars over two years of the same crap they were that was costing me money right that was good because i felt value not in the money part but i felt value in that someone thought that i was good enough you're worth it to invest whatever
Starting point is 00:41:53 they usually invest in that spot right there so i would say those two career wise um the radio and in the tv world i'm gonna start saying price tags now because you know what there's something really no i'm saying the same thing yeah i'm like so sick of people beating around the bush and nobody knows how much anybody makes including people in the middle of nowhere who aren't even in this industry, but I think it's when I'm listening to somebody on a podcast and they don't give me a number, it's maddening. So thank you for that. Oh, and I credit my wife because I would, again, nobody does, right? Nobody shares that. And I also didn't want to be braggy because I know where I came from. But at the same time, she would go,
Starting point is 00:42:43 like, you're honest about everything. Why are you like trying to hide some stuff? and she would go you don't think people know you make a lot of money right she was like you can still be relatable and but she's like you've never been all the way relatable because you're you're how you grew up and you're nuts and you're so she was like if your brand is authenticity then freaking be authentic and my wife is super smart and i was like god dang she has a like a real point there and it was a tough kind of wade into the water but you know i think she is i was I was even almost ashamed to admit at one point because so much of who I was and what I did and who I did it for was for people that had to come up without or without any
Starting point is 00:43:29 resources or so, but now I try to walk that line and if I don't walk it right, it's okay. Again, they don't have to like me, but I just hope people know that I'm just going to tell them as much of the truth as I can for as long as I can. So thanks. Thanks for saying that. It's weird to say you make a million bucks a year working on a show that's on three months a year mentoring kids. But I feel like if I would have had somebody like me that was talking about this and I would have known that was possible, I think that would have been just like crazy cool for me to know that it would be achievable, right? So yeah, so that's what's up.
Starting point is 00:44:09 Kelty, are you just falling madly in love right now? I literally am like, I can't believe how much Bobby Bones got paid to host New Year's Eve because it is not even close to what I got paid to host the Thanksgiving Day Parade. Exactly, right? I need a new agent. Wait, hold on, hold on. Oh, mine was higher than yours or lower? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:44:27 Wait, no. Like by a zillion dollars. No, Kelty, are you sure? The big numbers were the American Idol numbers. No, no, no, I know. He said he got 40 grand or something. I know how much you get paid for the Thanksgiving Parade. Because I stay two more days in New York and go see the Rockettes.
Starting point is 00:44:43 Well, that's why you've been able to do it every year. You don't ask for enough money. Obviously not. That's why I'm in year eight because I'm cheap and I didn't ask my name to be on it. God, you're an idiot. Kelty Knight's Canadian American Thanksgiving. I love that it's made with real products, real sugar, shea butter, a six-oil blend that leaves the skin smooth and hydrated.
Starting point is 00:46:58 Tree Hut, it is so cute. you can complete your shower routine with tree hut and next time you're at target or ultra just pick up some and try it out i think you're gonna love it you can shop tree hut at alta target walmart online in store wherever and check out tree hut shea like shea butter tree hut shea s h e a dot com slash podcast for more details today you're listening to the lady gang i want to ask you uh so jack is a major country fan um i mean she's not oklahoma city country fan but she she goes to stagecoach you know what i mean like she goes to stagecoach and we want to we want some country music like dirt like i want to know bobby
Starting point is 00:47:44 bones the hot goss yeah what's the hot goss like obviously i'm obsessed with kelsey ballerini she who's just on Saturday Night Live. Like, what do you do when Kelsey comes in your studio and you're friends with her and then you're friends with the ex? Like, this has got to be so crazy. And people, anyway, what's going, Jack, who do you want to know about
Starting point is 00:47:57 if they're nice in real life? Well, I just, I don't even know if you can share any of the hot goss, but like, I want to know why Florida Georgia Line broke up. A couple things. Again, this is going to be just all my opinion. And from what I, and I, again, it could be wrong, but I've spent a little time with those guys
Starting point is 00:48:14 and I've been in bad feuds with them too. Both of them, right? At times. So that being said, why did they break up? I think – it depends who you talk to. They politically weren't aligned at a time when that would break people up. You know, seven years ago, that wouldn't break someone up. I also think they probably had interest.
Starting point is 00:48:37 I think with any group, as there's massive success, everybody kind of goes, yeah, but I'd like to do it this way. But then when there's a group dynamic, you have to kind of roll with the partner or the other three. And I think it was a collection of things. But I asked Tyler, like, for a million bucks, would you guys do a wedding? And he's like, no, we wouldn't. I was like, for a million dollars. He's like, no, we're going to do a wedding. And then he's like, well, I'm trying to do my own thing now.
Starting point is 00:49:00 But that wasn't the feeling that came from him. It wasn't, no, because I'm trying to do my own thing. And I wouldn't. It was like, no, I don't want to do a wedding. I wouldn't do a wedding with him for a million bucks. So, and they finished the tour with each other and did their, their, their deals. But I just think humans grow apart and I think they grew apart and they'll grow back together. You can mark this.
Starting point is 00:49:20 They will eventually come back and do stuff together again because there's a lot of money there and that's what's up. And that's probably why I would speculate from the knowledge that I have that is not limited, but also I don't live in their house, that it was a dynamic issue. It was a creative issue. it was a bit of a political issue but i don't think they would punch each other i think they're probably fine in the real anybody i've ever fought with or had a beef with when i see them in person it just feels fake and stupid like oh that wasn't even real and then you get back away from them
Starting point is 00:49:51 then you feed with them again because it's not real so like what's gonna happen when you get off here with kelty yeah yeah i think it will be great i think they would they're fine but that's probably why what else you got give me something else okay i um i'm very interested if you think and sync can get back together not until not until justin starts to feel money either either he wants to do charity for them or he needs money for him um i wish that we get back together that'd be awesome i want to know what you think of the the kelsey uh morgan thing because i i've talked about this before on the podcast so kelsey had uh morgan released this album right after they broke up that was like when was it over i had no idea song not album go ahead a song not album
Starting point is 00:50:32 right song i didn't know like you blindsided me and then she came back with like a seven page ep the video visual album and snl performance like like no no no um what what do you what do you think happened there so this is what i will say i need to set the stage though with both of them in my relationship with them instead of just saying how i feel yeah i met kelsey when she was a teenager right so kelsey went out with me for her first ever shows out of nashville i took her out and we would do shows and so we've been together and known each other that long and so i didn't know morgan until they had started to be together and but anybody that kelsey likes like you like but you're also protective kind of big brother style your friend if it's somebody
Starting point is 00:51:20 that's your friend you've been close to like yeah you like them but you want to see if you really like them and you want it so we would go and they were a couple that not even a couple they were just two of my friends that we would purposefully seek out time to spend together if we hadn't seen each other in a while we would go to brunch we would go and when we're on the road all the time i mean i do the radio show then i'm out or i would go shoot a tv show or i would go and so we were that close to where we made appointments to go to brunch here or dinner here um so very close with all that i knew things weren't good because as a unit you can tell i started hanging out with Morgan by myself. And that ain't, that wasn't kind of normal for us. We kind of, and I never had
Starting point is 00:52:03 a girlfriend or anything like that. So I was always the third leg or the third wheel. So I would love to hear devil's advocate though. Well, no, my devil's advocate was just in response to like them needing to stop. I disagree. They don't have children. If you don't have kids and you're going through a nasty divorce, there are no regrets. I hear you except for the fact that it's going to be really bad for some stuff it's really bad and it's going to affect other people that aren't a part of them it's very stevie nicks and lindsey um yeah buckingham buckingham but like it's a famous feud like they're kind of making their mark as a pr perspective there's no feud on listen they're not feuding it's a one-sided feud oh there's not feuding
Starting point is 00:52:47 and i've been on both sides of a one-sided feud so they're not they're not feuding i mean i didn't realize that i'd feuded with you guys till we get into the intro no one cares about us i love them both we're so nobody cares but you know what if we let that feud go on longer even people may have known you know yeah you know what i should have we should have eaten it we should i should have like made a poster or something i don't know well mr bobby bones i'm so glad you came on lady gang i was wondering why you said yes so i'm i'm so happy that you did you didn't remember that's all that's it we we're short we have short attention spans these ladies um we've we've completed our workout for the day as our girls are on
