Well, what is this?
Welcome to the Lady Gang.
That's amazing.
Say that again.
The Lady Gang.
Things are about to change around here.
Each week, we catch up with Hollywood's hottest girl posse,
Kelty Knight, Becca Tobin, and Jack Vanek.
Hello, hello, hello.
Welcome to the Lady Gang.
I am Becca Tobin here with Kelty Knight and Jack Vanek.
Yeehaw.
Ow.
Ow, ow.
Jack, what is this shirt you're wearing?
I was going to ask that, too.
so it just says cheat i'm at my parents house right now because there's a water leak in my
apartment so i'm staying with them but i steal my dad's shirts when i'm here it says cheat but
what does it say on the top in the little letters how do you get science how do you get ahead in
game development cheat use power animator i don't know what does that even mean i don't know
he used to use like work for a software development company and i don't know guys it's just sure it
looks like it's from the 90s though it looks like it's like a monster energy drink isn't it so weird
you have so many cute like hang clothes or whatever and you're like i'll just wear dad's shirt
i love a big t there's nothing quite like it i know it's a good one thanks thanks guys okay well
it's time for good week yes it is bad week oh no my bad week is very upsetting so obviously
everybody knows that kelty and i were professional dancers and i was watching instagram reels and
jerry from cheer was doing a really cute dance for reels and i was like you know what i was very
against TikTok, but this is cute. And if reels is here to stay, this could be a nice way for me to
like work on my choreography and like work on my skills again. And I started to practice the dance
and my sister was filming me rehearse it. And in my mind, I thought that I was really crushing it.
And then I watched the video that she posted of me rehearsing and I looked like I had never
taken a dance class in my life and I had no rhythm and it was really, it was, it hurt. It was
hard to see the truth. Is it like, was it a cheer dance or was it like a, like a sexual dance or
the type of a dance? Like a peppy, not super cheery. Like, you know, it's like what the kids
are doing. You know, it's not like super technical. It's more about just having like
a good vibe and some hitting the moves yeah moves yeah there's like the around the like around the
head like lasso into like a body roll and i am so upset and i the universe was basically like
no you are too old to do this i'm too old too old i hate to be a fridge magnet but dance like
no one's watching becca i was and it really backfired i hate to be a fridge magnet that's
amazing weird saying because you know there's always a fridge yeah you know i didn't understand
that as it was coming out of your mouth but then i did and i'm like this is kind of good
what other things would you see on a fridge like live laugh love yeah like hey hang in there with
the cat yeah happy or like walk and roll and like in this in this house we fuel on love oh god okay
my turn yeah good week i was picking up my prescription for antidepressants good old cvs
and i haven't been in the cvs because i get like one i get three months at a time so
it's been a long time and i wore my mask of course like a good citizen
and i was doing my checking out at the cvs and of course i picked up a few things some coffee
creamer pens whatever like you know a little cvs pickup didn't know i needed it till i walked in
the cvs and i'm checking out and the girl goes oh so great you're wearing a mask huh and i was like
yeah like everyone needs to wear a mask she's like no it's great for you right because like
nobody recognizes you and winked oh my god did she know who you actually were i think she did
i think she thought i was a celebrity or she's a big fan i bet you when people when kelty talks
to people in public she uses her entertainment tonight voice in hopes that they'll recognize
her voice yeah i think that the way you portray yourself to strangers or to somebody that possibly
could think you're somebody else is probably different than you actually are like you tried
you try to you do like the weird could i be a celebrity could i not who knows but why would
you say that if she was unsure she wouldn't have said that she'd been like oh i thought this person
came in but she fully was like and then people can't recognize you because you were probably
like emanating this energy that you were were you wearing your sunglasses inside no that's how she
recognized me she saw my little beady shit bumhole eyes that she watches on television
there was someone the other day that had you don't have bumhole eyes but there was someone
the other day that actually had bumhole eyes and i was thinking this is what kelty thinks she looks
like i don't know why that is my favorite thing when you talk about your butthole eyes because
like you really don't have them but it's so funny i'm so small and dark they're not small at all
they're not okay thank you they're you have like a nice like non-hooded eye yeah yeah you can get
right to it like a butthole okay anyway bad week easy access back in the neighbor fights guys
not again neighbors all right so when my father was here at christmas it is now summer
at christmas i asked my neighbor hey the bamboo in your yard is covering my view yeah remember
And then I went down and I tried to cut it myself and he came out and yelled at me and I was like, all right
I got it. Well, you need to cut it because it's blocking my view and i'm feeling claustrophobic
It has now been six months that i've been like at some point he's gonna cut it right at some point
And I just got mad. I woke up the other day in quarantine. I was like i'm feeling
I can't see the sun
And it's too much
So I wrote him I said neighbor. Can you please take down the bamboo?
I'm starting to feel claustrophobic and then his response was the bamboo has been there for 15
years but I guess I could cut anything that's hanging off my property line so then I took a
picture of it and I used the little pencil on the photo app oh god where I want to see the chop
happen and I sent it back no no response yet and no chop yet update coming soon oh my god what does
Chris say? Chris is like, he's not gonna cut it. And I was like, but Chris is not emotional about
the view. Like I will say from my bedroom, one of the things that I really loved about this house
was the bedroom. I always dreamed of having, I used to live in a closet in New York city. So like
I've, you know, here I am with my dream bedroom and I look out and I, I don't see the parking
lot or the street that I can see past my house. It's like, I can only see the Hills across the
way and the sun in the morning is on those hills and it's shining off all those houses it's
beautiful it's so beautiful and i can't see it because all i can see is some shitty bamboo which
is not even a native california plant oh yeah we're in a historical district so i don't know
why you're planting bamboo keep it natural yo it's for privacy no i know but you're not supposed
to bring in anything that wasn't approved by the history anyway whatever blah blah blah okay
neighbor wars neighbor okay my my neighbor that's yeah it's not a good one love my neighbor
my good week is so becca and i have been on the same netflix journey for the past couple weeks
we have we've been really diving into some good shows and there is a show love on the spectrum
oh my god i love it i could have been a part of this oh i didn't know you're watching i just
You don't watch TV. You didn't ask me. No one asked me. There was no, you have a secret whole
text message without me. It's fine. It actually wasn't. I had posted about it on Instagram and
Becca said, Oh, I watched this. And then I was posting the next show, Indian matchmaker. And
she's like, we're literally on the same journey right now. Netflix. It was a great couple days.
It's the cutest show I've ever seen in my life. The most endearing, adorable, amazing show that
i think everybody needs to watch yeah it's amazing it's so good they're so sweet michael
i love michael and then i like i don't want to ruin it for anyone but i did like a whole thing
and now i know what he's doing in his life oh i actually was was gonna because he doesn't have
instagram it's like i want to follow him on instagram i want to follow his journey but you
can't but you know my biggest hang-up about those two shows love on the spectrum and indian
matchmaking is that a few well love on the spectrum you don't really see what like a follow-up
i needed it to be longer i didn't know it was ending when it was ending i was like wait i need
like a resolution somebody needs the same with indian matchmaker yeah i like want to know what
happened with a few of those people and i need i desperately need to know i there's nothing that
grinds my gears more than when you get so invested to these people and then i'm like episode five
there has to be at least 15 more after this and then they're like well it ended and now we don't
know what happens to anybody and i i can't my heart cannot take that i hate to be a fridge
magnet but it's only the end if you say it's the end oh my god you are an idiot that's not a fridge
magnet saying it could be a fridge maker but you're fucked okay my bad week so i went to
Temecula last weekend to go wine tasting because wineries are open it's nice and socially distant
you know the wineries are huge you don't have to see like any other people and when I was looking
on Yelp to decide which winery I was going to go to I'm like going through the pictures for some of
these places and on one of the pictures it just the caption of it just says open during the pandemic
and this is such an interesting sentence to see now that gets me excited that i'm like five months
ago could you imagine on a yelp page seeing open during the pandemic you'd be like what the
so this is a sad state that we're in that this makes me happy i know and that's my bad week
but it should make you happy that you're able to go do those things now i that anything that if i
can drink outside is just all I need in life to just keep me going and not fall into a spiral so
but nobody there wore masks so you know they did well that's my issue is that when I was in San
Diego we went out to dinner one night and I was like all right I'm gonna I'm gonna do it and like
we wore a mask we sit down there like they separate them whatever and then the ass was
coming without the mask and you're like you're ruining this for everyone because they're gonna
have to reclose now so well my the thing that happened to us the winery was actually fine but
then we went to go get dinner afterwards and downtown Temecula is kind of like the party
kind of area. Yeah. It looked like f***ing Mardi Gras, not a single person wearing a mask,
thousands of people hugging each other. I'm like, this is why this is never going to f***ing end.
Yeah. Ever. Being down in Florida was interesting. I mean, I felt safe because everything we did was
outside. Yeah. But it was so weird. It felt like it didn't exist. I mean, we, we, there were people
wearing masks in the grocery store and stuff. So that was good. But like, I was like, do I move to
Florida temporarily? Like, because it was really, it was really freeing. Because it only exists if
you think it exists, right? And to be a fridge magnet, but you are what you feel. Well, and I
felt like, you know, I'm still being very careful. I feel safe in the choices I'm making, but I'm
still living amongst people who for the most part were not that concerned. And so it made me feel
not that concerned pretty pretty good that's the problem that's literally the problem
but you're a part of the problem no i'm not i was i wasn't no you're reading covid i've
been tested multiple times since i've been here i'm responsible live your life when we come back
everyone i'm so glad none of us are wearing makeup because most beautiful
woman on the planet is on the podcast faces for radio wow you're listening to the lady gang
our guest today is so beautiful that i am glad i have a face for radio and that this is a podcast
because i don't want to film anything sitting next to her she moved to brazil at just 19 to
take over the modeling world in new york city and since then this list is long has become a
philanthropist, entrepreneur, producer, host, lifestyle expert, and media maven. Her site,
Women of Today, which is so cute, is a vast community of amazing women and full of inspiration,
recipes, and real advice on living well. This month, she's hosting a weekly Instagram live
chef series where she and a select group of top chefs will be making their favorite recipes
together. We just saw her finish one of them that had big taste on her Instagram every Thursday
through August. Please welcome to the podcast, Camilla McConaughey. Hey guys. Wow. What a nice
intro. Can you just like come over like every morning? Can we just record that? I'll just play
on my thing every morning to make me feel good about myself. It could be your wake up alarm.
I just can't believe that you also do this while raising children. Like you have so many things on
the go yeah it's a little cuckoo you know we do um we have three kids so we have a seven a uh 10
and 12 um but you know the the challenge of it it's it's beautiful and crazy and madness at the
same time but what it really really helps is that the kids are super involved on everything that
we're doing. So they understand, they are part of it, they help. So that makes a huge, huge
difference. It's amazing. All right. So take me back. We're going to start at the beginning of
your life. Okay. Discovered moment. So you're living in Brazil and you moved to New York City
and you're a teenager. So I actually moved to Los Angeles first to Redondo Beach, California
um, when I was 15, 15 years old. Yes. Um, I didn't speak much English. So I, all my, all my words
were, um, hi, how are you? How much is this? And I'm sorry, I don't speak English. That was it.
And, um, me and my mom, who did you move with? Oh, your mom came. Yeah. Me and my mom came,
we came to visit family we have an aunt and an uncle that lived here and um my mom went back to
Brazil I stay and um we you know it was it was staying to model but I could model for many years
so from 15 to age 19 um I was in LA and I was living with family and just um had to do whatever
I needed to do to kind of survive. You know, we, we come from a family, a middle class family in
Brazil, which we grew up, you know, having somebody work in your house pretty much, you know,
six days of the week or more. And, uh, you kind of have everything you need and got thrown into
an environment where my uncle had everything, but some situations happened there. I had to move out
and got thrown into a situation where I went from, okay, I have all my, you know, comfort to
i don't have anything living in a couch in somebody else's house not speaking the language i
um went and you know i needed to work so the one work that i knew how to do
growing up that it was an honest job to do was cleaning houses um my dad always even though we
grew up you know having somebody work at our house my dad used to always say you know before
you be the queen you need to make sure you need to know how to take care of your own things because
what happens if your staff don't show up what are you gonna do right so we grew up with that
mentality of hands-on and knowing what to do so i knew how to take care of a house i went in clean
houses and then at nighttime i would do english class and then slowly kind of step up into
hostess and work in restaurants and work in a store doing dance classes i used to do dance
classes too with the assistant amazing amazing and then the 19th so this is where you're getting
the 19 from so at 19 years old I then moved to New York City and started modeling full-on and so did
you get discovered like is it one of those stories you're like at the mall and someone stopped you
and said you're the next big star search yeah no it was not star search so my aunt who lives here
right she used to be a model and she was she was a working model in Brazil and I was I think it was
kind of like her because i was the oldest uh you know in the family in terms of the nieces and i
think she just wanted to you know like help out and do through that so she i was a tomboy big
tomboy and she dressed me up i remember like it was yesterday in this tight tight mini gold dress
i have no idea what's up with the mini gold dress i'm like no idea what that she put it uh you know
this bright lipstick and this high heels. I mean, I could barely walk on that thing.
And she took me to Molly agencies. I mean, she's the one that was like, we're going to go, you
know, and, and, um, I didn't, I didn't know what I wanted to, to, I knew the minute I got in the
plane from Brazil, I had a suitcase full of books to do all the, you know, the final testing, all
of that exams. And I got on the plane and I looked to my mom and I said, mom, I don't think I'm
coming back. And my mom said, I know you're not. Uh, like it was just something that was calling
the, Hey, this is, you know, this is where my life is supposed to be. And, um, so I just should
say, we'll take it tomorrow. I was like, great. Like, you know, so I went, went with it. And,
um, so 19, I started to, um, modeling and I moved to New York city and then I lived kind of in all
over the world since then, like just modeling and hustling. Wow. It's crazy. I mean, it's so funny.
Like, do you, you know, Becca and I have a similar kind of story. We were both really young when we
moved to New York and we were performers and performers. Becca was on Broadway. She's actually
talented. I was just, but, but it's like, you look back at it now and you're like, wow, I was so
brave like you felt like you had nothing to lose so you're like let me just go for it i would never
do that at 38 i'm not gonna go live in a closet in new york city like it's crazy when you think
about being young and how much tenacity it gives you it is so true and i'll tell you what being a
mother now right so my daughter's 10 my son is 12 um the oldest two oldest and i honestly i'm like
how did my parent like i mean i left a foreign country at 15 yeah and came to a whole different
place and then i got here and then you know at 19 i was like again i was i was living at you know
italy and france and and israel and greece and africa i mean i was all over the place by myself
I mean, it was not like I had a buddy or anything.
And I looked at my kids now and I go, I don't know if I can do that.
You know what I mean?
I don't know if I can have that.
So to your point, you're right.
It's like when you were at that age and you're like, I got nothing to lose.
I'm just going to go for it.
You know?
And I'm like, and I look back at circumstances and I'm like, gosh, like, I mean, God really
protected me because, you know, it's certain situations that you're like, whoa, this could
have gone really wrong.
Yeah.
well when you're that young it's like you you feel like an adult when you're like 17 18 19 you feel
like an adult you can make all these decisions but you have none of the life experience to know
how maybe dangerous some of them might be or just how much balls it will take to do that so it's so
interesting probably looking at your kids being like you're like little babies still and you're
like nope get on the train um so the community you've built congratulations as lady community
builders ourselves we know how much work that is so it's incredible the site is gorgeous women
of today where did you come up with the idea and what is your mission um so women's day for me was
really a work of love it was never supposed to be a business or something that you know it's it's
growing and turning to what it is naturally it was something that you know i've i had a business
yummy spoonfuls which is frozen organic kids food and that was like a job that was like you know
what i mean like it's full-on full-on full-on and women of today was my like pleasure it was like my
love affair of like okay i can go there and i don't have to you know to be working right about
numbers and pressure and this and reports and blah blah blah sales and none of that and um
and naturally growing to this but the fundamental um love for it was really that at a very early age
as we talked early on i lived all over the world and and then later in my life with kids we lived
all over the world because when matthew would go to work we all go with him right so we moved so
much and i'll go to different countries or i'll go to the south the south in the united states and
community between people was a bigger conversation. It was open, right? I would show up to those
places and, you know, in a matter of days, people will be like, okay, this is the doctor. This is
the, where do you get this? Where do you get that? What do you need help with? It was always a open
conversation with more people than just your, you know, handful of really close friends. You know
what I mean? And every time I'll come back, I'll be like, well, where is that? Like, I don't see
that. And that was before the Me Too movement. That was before a lot of movements that we are in
right now that we've been going through this process. So I just said, you know what, I'm
going to start this and I'm going to start sharing what I've learned. And then I want to share what
people learn that I can learn from them and others can learn from it. So really the basis of the
website is not about, Hey, I'm Camilla McConaughey and this is how I do things. And you should do it
like that too. It's not that. It's about me just going, hey, I learned this. This worked for me.
I'm going to share with you. What have you learned in your life or what's a loved one learned that
you think somebody else can use as well? And it's amazing to see kind of the community that
that builds. It's all about community building because look, we're never going to agree on
everything we're never going to sit here and embrace all of our differences you know we're
gonna have differences they'll be like yeah okay that's not really for me I get it but it's not for
me you know what I mean like you keep it there I'll keep it here kind of thing but if you have
community at least you understand where the other person is coming from at least you're having the
conversation you are seeing from a different perspective and you can help each other out
so really that's the basis of the website and everybody you know a lot of people ask me okay
well what's you know what's the business plan or what's the you know what's the next thing you're
going into and reality is that I tell them well I don't know because this is not a Camilla business
this is a community business so the community tells me what they want to learn next what
direction they want to know what they're looking for so it's it's kind of been interesting throughout
this pandemic because the community has been very active and the things that we got to do
anywhere for because we can't do our events anymore we should do great events and very
involved very hands-on things we can't do any of that so we've did a lot of things through zoom
privately which a lot of them we don't even uh you know unless if you're part of the newsletter
and part of the community then you know it's happening because we want to have that quality
yeah right so we've did i mean so we've been doing anything from cooking to workouts to
we did the 80s zoom workout where everybody got dressed up amazing cool thing is that we do that
right so everybody's dressed up on 80s we're doing a workout and then at the end we all sit there and
we talk and we get into conversations where people are crying and they're sharing their deep feelings
and then somebody else hears and goes hey you know what like you having this health problem
this person here I know knows all of a sudden they're they're talking with each other and
helping each other out you know what I mean yeah so that's that's I did I answer your question
because I go into this like no I love this no I love I love this because I mean we have a similar
kind of community aspect of the lady gang that goes beyond the three of us and I think that what
you were saying where it's like you didn't really have a a plan for what it's going to become really
allows it to have that space to become what it should be rather than you trying to like navigate
the focus of what something is, which might not serve your community the way that it does when
it kind of just happens organically. So that's really cool. I love that. And also like, obviously
we got to sign up for the newsletter because I want to do an eighties workout. And you know,
And the difference is, you know, I think a big differentiator of what we're doing versus
everything that's out there is that we're not talking to you, we're talking with you.
Right, right.
And that's a big difference, you know what I mean?
And we're listening to people and we're following their direction and their needs.
So it's been a very, very good experience.
But I have a question.
Sorry, go back.
Sorry.
How do you, I imagine that that's a really gratifying place to be and you're giving a
lot of yourself and you're giving a lot of your energy. But for you, I feel like we feel the same
way, which is having to set the boundaries in those situations because you want to help everybody.
You want to come to everyone's rescue. Do you have a trick? Because we're personally dealing with
that. Yes. And it gets a little tricky because people sometimes start sharing very deep and
personal things as you guys know you probably have that too and i my boundaries is that i put
it on the you know with the community and with the site is that you know and and i we go through all
the letters we go through all the things just probably like you guys do too and you know um
the brown is if it's anything that we can help you emotionally or like something that we can do
where we're giving you the fishing pole to go fish we're in now if somebody's writing and sharing
things and asking for money and asking for the easy you know what i mean like the easy way out
kind of thing then we can't do like it seemed i mean we just can't do that right right um and then
what we also do is a lot of times if we don't have the answer if we don't know what the solution is
we then just put them in contact with somebody that might know or we do the research and we share
with them, Hey, you know, maybe you can do this, this and that. And then they, they go about. So
again, it's more about, we give you the fish, the fishing pole, fishing pole, right? I'm stealing
that. That's so good. Yeah. And then you can go fish, but I can't go fish for you because we all,
me and the team, we gotta go, we gotta go fish for ourselves right now and we can help you,
but we can't be there sitting fishing for you the whole time so i think that's that's one of the
the boundaries that we do and then we just vet a lot of things you know like we you know when
somebody sends a recipe we try the recipes before we share if somebody sends a business we do the
research and make sure it's not something weird if somebody has a really big mission with charity
what we decide to do is like you know what a lot of people ask us about charity about
helping this cause and that cause so we decided to go broad we have a broad spectrum and if you
donate that's what it goes to you know what i mean so we did like we were doing what we're still
doing now three times a week but in the for like this whole pandemic time that everybody was you
know a stay-at-home order we did exercises six days a week life like six days a week right in
there and all we asked people was if you can donate donate and if you cannot don't do it just
come here but right right those donations always giving them also the power to help others and you
know what i mean different ways so does that is that helpful yeah for sure oh yeah again right
hey you go fish we'll help you with the supplies but you gotta do it for yourself yeah it's kind
of like you're facilitating and assisting but not you know just doing it for them exactly yeah i
And I'm sure you guys get like a lot of people looking for you guys for answers, right?
Your things.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And you feel so bad when you can't help.
And then it's like you, if you do go out and really help somebody, then you feel guilty
for not being able to help the next person that asks.
So it is about kind of, yeah, those boundaries of how to not overexert yourself, but to still
help in the way that you can.
Yeah, exactly.
And then sometimes, you know, one thing that we do too, sometimes if it's like somebody
is really like you know one situation maybe sometimes we then turn around to do a overall
theme so then we're doing all this content we're doing things that it's we know it's like this one
person really needs this but you know what if this one person really needs this then maybe
other people do too so then let's turn this into that right like yeah even the cooking like the
chef series we're doing now you know we did the cooking during the pandemic like we had a whole
different we were supposed to roll out a new website a new fitness program like this whole
thing and a whole thing we had to cancel everything because i said i don't feel comfortable asking
people to pay for a fitness program to do that like we're not doing that we had a whole thing
of health which is focused more on chemicals and you know like heavy metals and things like that
i'm like people are trying to survive right now you know what i mean like yeah so we had to shift
it erase everything shift everything and again like start with teaching people the basics right
so i started teaching people how to how do you cook rice how do you cook beans how i need that
yeah you know how do you cook rice i have no idea man you know what i mean like i saw these people
doing these very fancy things and i'm like who can do this right now you know what i mean so
let's teach the basics how can you make a meal under 15 dollars for the whole family you know
what i mean how do you do it so we got more into that yeah and then now that people are asking for
hey you know what i've learned so much of this now can i learn techniques now can i learn this
so we're like hey i'm not a professional chef i love cooking but that's not my expertise you know
what i mean i'm not i'm not trained so that's how the chef series came about came about you know
because now we're like we're gonna learn from the professionals you know the experts i love this
all right i have one more question before we uh you help fix the life so uh my normal job is over
at entertainment tonight i've seen you a lot on the carpet i'm different so it's okay that you
don't know me um but but i've seen you saying that what's wrong with her she's insane so crazy
and you don't look different don't be silly so you obviously like slay the red carpet i mean when
you get glamazon you are perfection every single time but one of like the things for that yeah
gorgeous one of the things that happens a lot for me is that I go to dinner parties and people are
like who's the nicest who's the meanest who's like whatever people always asking me this story
and so always it's the question well they want to know who's the meanest they want to know who's
the meanest which I never tell always I'll tell you after no I'm just kidding um but one of the
funny thing is is that you and your husband are both close talkers did you know this intimate
intimate talkers like when you do an interview you come you both come right out and you're not
i know he did that but i didn't know i did well you're no but when you're beside him when you're
beside him you guys both come in you're the closest talkers in hollywood so i want to know
do you close talk each other is this like it's very sexy it's so sexual i love this about you
but like oh my goodness um well i guess we don't think about it's not something that we like sit
there and go well let me get really close you know it's like a competition like who can get
closer no it's not it's this is innately who you are this is like a woman of today but i just
because i noticed on your instagram when you cook the thing from your chef series and you guys were
eating it that like you were eating off the same plate and i was like oh my god this is not like
because they can't hear on the red carpet this is how they live their lives like they're close
people they're close talkers well I guess I mean look in the red carpet I don't know I guess we're
just not I mean we love people man like you know you come on in come into the juice like you know
like we don't need to put a barrier you know what I mean like I want to be able to hear you
you know what i mean it's not like you know yeah and look a lot of times i know it's not you know
look i always laugh because you know some people are experts of making themselves look really great
right on the carpet on photos certain i mean they got it down right yeah i know they got it down
right and and and a lot of times i look at you know either photos or videos whatever footage
that somebody sends i'm like jeez come on like i mean you know better than that you know not
to visit, you know, but I like, so, you know, we're in the moment. So we're, I'm not really
thinking about, you know, how do I look or this or the dress, you know, like, I'm just like in
the moment with it. So if I'm going to talk to you and it's loud and we got people that I'm coming
close. I do have a question though, about like being on the carpet. Were you extremely intimidated
when you like entered into the world of Hollywood and carpets and gossip mags and tabloids like
how how did you handle that because that was like a time when it was really living in a fish tank
like it's kind of over now but it's like back yeah you're so right you're sorry I feel like
Instagram kind of popped that bubble a bit yeah I see it so much now you know um you know that's
a good question I have a funny story about the first red carpet I ever did with Matthew
and I was intimidated look you know it's different you know like we when by the time we did our first
red carpet we had already by the time it became public that we were dating like we had already
been dating for a while and we're we're solid with you know what I mean it wasn't like we just
met you just started hanging out and it's all over the place and we're like pun intended you're close
unintended so we did a great job of like figure i didn't even know how it happened but honestly
like it kind of stayed under wraps you know what i mean we were so we we felt good about ourselves
and where we were and all that but you know i come from you know i'm not an actress you know
what i mean yes i was you know i was modeling and i was around that world a lot like you know
my previous boyfriends were actors or musicians and stuff like so i was in that world that world
was not new to me but this was to a different level because like we kind of knew like okay
this is serious and this is you know like this is going to be the annual normal like that we're
going to build up to and I was the outsider coming in you know what I mean and we did see a lot of
kind of elbows and you know like who is who you know who do you think you are like you know what
I mean walking in here like you know I'm blah blah blah you know what I mean and whatever I've
sitting on the carpet just solo solo shot matt solo or like can you walk off by yourself and go
yourself okay you know so it's and from all the women you know in the business and other things
like that so you definitely had some of that and it was i was a little bit intimidated in the
beginning and you know and trying to figure out what are the right things to do how do you do it
how do you go about this it is intimidating because i feel like a lot of people at you know
that aren't don't go through that sometimes they don't realize that there's one thing right one
little thing people can grab it and run it like all around the world it's not like your local
newspaper or you know or okay this happened for 15 minutes and it's gone like it will have legs
and it will go around the world like you know my parents like in brazil people and all over the
world so it's it's got a bigger effect and then when you have kids then it's like shit man like
if something like goes bad i don't want my kids to be you know hearing this in school whatever it
so I'll tell you a lighter a lighter thing that happened in the carpet the first time that I did
a red carpet with Matthew it was um premiere of ghost of girlfriend's best I believe I've
I've been to premieres with him before but I always went through the back and we only hang
out like in the private areas no there's no photos first time we're like okay we're gonna
make our public appearance we're doing together and I had a stylist my first time working with
like a red carpet stylist right because before it was just modeling you show up stuff there is just
for photo shoots so i get the fame whenever i do it and we pick this dress and the dress was like
you know it was solid up into about mid butt area and then it had like strings that kind of went
down you couldn't see anything at all but it was loose strings right and okay we checked everything
okay nothing's gonna show blah blah blah um and we get to the carpet i get out of the car
and the weather was perfect everything was fine i stepped out one foot out of the car
like crazy wind and the wind would not stop the whole time we're in the carpet by the time we
get off the carpet windows gone but for the few minutes we're on the carpet the wind was blowing
like crazy and every single I'm like oh my gosh I'm my butt is gonna I'm gonna be flushing everybody
so I'm holding this thing down the whole time and tried to hold a smiley pose at the same time
and I'm okay and I couldn't even do graciously like it was just I was like okay lesson learned
camilla not a good experience the photos were pretty funny but i was able to hold it together
pretty good so i didn't it was no photos of my private parts uh all the neos the next that's a
success right and on that note when we come back um camilla is going to help you fix your life if
she can make it down her first red carpet in a windstorm in a dress made out she can help you
now back to the lady gang so for this part of our podcast we have our listeners writing
questions about like love or career friendships and we try to fix their lives so you ready to
fix their lives let me try let me try to okay first question comes from gabriella she says
about four months ago i moved in with my boyfriend into his apartment before me was a housemate and
before that housemate he lived with his ex-girlfriend in the same apartment it's been
three years since they broke up but i still tend to find things that are hers or once belonged to
her i recently noticed teeth molds in the guest bedroom and thought it was gross and when i asked
my boyfriend about them he answered they're my ex-girlfriends i thought it was cool so i kept
them he's into weird mental metal stuff like that i didn't know how to feel about it so i just walked
away i know that i'm going to find little things here and there uh because this was her apartment
at one point but is this a big deal should i just deal with it i don't know how to feel am i going
crazy. That's weird. I'm sorry. That's weird. That's weird. Okay. So I don't think you're
going crazy. Okay. So I've had those situations too. And at one point you have, this would be
my opinion. Again, I'm not trying to fix the situation because only, only, only you can fix
it. Only, you know, giving you the fishing pole. Yep. But this is what I think at a certain point
you have to draw the line between, okay, does this bother me enough to where I need to
do a spring cleaning in this house and take it all out? Uh, Hey, if that's the case,
is that going to jeopardize my relationship? So I had had situations where I had to kind of
mid in the middle when I went, you know what, I'm really not okay with this. So let me find a cool
way of going about it because telling your boyfriend hey you know what we need to get all
your ex-girlfriend stuff out it's going to freak him out probably so if he's keeping weird stuff
like that so you might want to be creative and say hey you know what we're in the middle of a
pandemic and you know what we have so much time at home i'm under spring cleaning to create more
space for whatever make up some story like that and then you can take stuff out not just the
ex-girlfriend stuff out you take a bunch of things out and then take her stuff out too
i also i think that like maybe this guy is just into weird stuff like i think it's also figuring
out like is he emotionally holding on to this or is he holding on to it because he thinks that
teeth are cool have you ever seen a teeth mold though it's pretty cool they're pretty cool
maybe he's into dentistry but then this is what that line that you have to know because you have
to remember something we can never erase our partner's past just like you don't want yours
erased right so if it is something like if he thinks that mode is cool and he doesn't have an
emotional attachment to or maybe he does have a little bit but it's not a problem then leave the
teeth mode and just know you know what this thing annoys me but but this thing annoys me but you
know what it's not worth the problem that's gonna cause you yeah so you have to wait this out you're
have to be smart about it you're gonna have to be smart about this wait it out wait it out and this
is wait wait this goes this goes right oh go ahead becca no i was just gonna say and this is why
you're still happily married yeah because she's cool because you're cool yeah because you got to
be cool you got to be cool but wait but it's hard but it's hard it's hard to be cool it is and it
takes control we're not naturally cool you know what i mean it's not naturally cool it's not
perfect every time i'm not i'm not naturally cool neither guys i gotta work on it we all
none of us are we're all trying okay so your answer to this stuff out the answer to your last
the last question was wait it out and now this goes into the next question titled wait it out
or cut the cord oh yeah she says so i've been dating my boyfriend for almost five years now
and after two years of living with my parents, we finally got our own place. He's super sweet and
loves me so much, but every time I talk to him about the idea of kids, he's so unsure if he will
ever want them. I've wanted a big family since I was very little, and it's really the only thing
that I've been so passionate about my whole life. We're both 25, and I know we have our whole lives
ahead of us, but I'm not willing to waste another 10 years of my life for him to officially decide
he doesn't want them. I swear I would marry him otherwise. What do I do?
well his frontal core is not even complete yet he's 25 one more year one more year till his brain
is finished so i guess you should wait till his brain is finished growing men are so dumb
wait it out for one year and cut the cord
and listen for a lot of men the idea of kids you know men have two things right so either the idea
of kids it's like completely you know terrifying to them or the idea of marrying is completely
terrifying to them right one or the other if they have one of those right so to your point maybe
wait a little bit longer because you know if that's the only thing that is like hey you know
because by the way do you want to have kids right now like are you ready to have kids tomorrow
because if you are then that's a different story but you know you're 25 right um i mean i had kids
young but i always knew i wanted to have kids really young that was the one thing i knew
and I and I I did get out of relationships because they didn't feel the same right so you have to be
honest with yourself are you ready to have kids right now and do you really love this man like
head over heels that you can see you have in a family with him and if you do then maybe wait a
little bit longer and then slowly you know what I mean try to instigate that idea you're gonna have
to be smart about it um and try to instigate that idea and then i think that you do need to get to a
point you know whether it's a year from now or two years from now that you go you know what like if we
can't agree that we are we will have a family not like we're gonna have a family at this time at
this you're like don't do that because that's craziness that's cuckoo house and you're gonna
drive everybody crazy be cool be cool be cool be cool but you know but if you um if you guys can
agree to that then that's good then just be patient you guys work it out together but you
know you know in in i i feel like if you really love this guy wait it out a little bit you're
just moving together not long ago you're building together you're still really young but do give
yourself a window of time that you're like you know what if if we don't agree by this window
of time i might need to start thinking about moving on right i love that never give a man
like an ultimatum that's like are we having kids yes or no no and then what are we are we exclusive
to find the relationship okay our last question last question is feeling guilty in love she says
i've been with my boyfriend for almost four years and he is a thousand percent my person however
fitness and working out are very important to me and while i know it's not fair i want my boyfriend
to be healthy too and prioritize his own health since we began dating he's gained almost 40 pounds
He went from an entirely clean and vegan diet to eating fast food multiple times a week
and never stepping foot in a gym.
I try to cook him healthy meals, pack him lunches, and ask him to work out with me,
but he has zero interest.
Every few months, he'll say he's, quote unquote, starting over and getting things back on track,
but then he'll fall off the wagon two days in.
Am I a terrible person for being turned off by his lack of motivation and prioritization
of his?
if i if i'm right to feel this way how to explain my feelings without looking like an asshole
you know my therapist last week said that it's not you gotta it's not about because i'm trying
to break up with diet coke again sleeping 20 years i've been trying to quit diet coke
she says that you know it's this is more of a therapeutic thing because we don't think we
deserve good food just letting everyone know that okay what do you mean we think we don't
deserve good food like when i mean it's a long fast food like what if that's good to me no it's
like what you were saying earlier like you you like take care of your insides like once you start
eating well and eating the good stuff then everything comes the beauty the energy the
everything you know and when you're in like a depressed state or you're not feeling your best
you just fuel yourself with more shit because you kind of feel shitty you know it's like it's all
interconnected but i don't know this one's really hard well you as if the tables returned you want
him to be supporting you yeah it's very true but you touched on something that it crossed my mind
right away was it seems like something else is happening yeah something you know to your point
uh that something else is happening and you probably just need to figure out what the root
of that is instead of focusing on the weight or him not working out it's focusing more of
what's going on that's causing him to do that um so maybe shit i don't know how you're gonna get
to that because again only you know him in the situation that you're in but instead of focusing
on oh you know he's overweight he's not exercising he's not looking as good you know just like what
is emotionally that's causing him to what changed from back then to now that may be causing that
change on him physically right so maybe focusing on that and then another thing is if he really
loves you he's gonna love spend time with you so when you guys are going for meals together and
things together if he wants to have fast food guess what don't go with him just say no i'm not
going i'm going to go eat here i'm eating that if you want to have dinner with me that's where i'll
be you can commit me there you know what i mean you can come yeah home you know what i mean or
you know what make a zone it's like you know no it's no junk food in this area of that of the
house don't buy this shit don't buy this stuff you know and again besides the most important thing
you should be worried again he's emotional but something is underlining there probably probably
i'm not don't have a crystal ball but you know but and then the second is his health
you know forget about how he looks like what he's doing to his insides
later on he's not gonna see it right now but a few years from now
you get a push back on his volume something that'll happen so
really focus on the health again forget about
exercising in the gym and forget about that
okay that stuff that's the least thing you need to worry about now you need to
worry about how can i get him emotionally stronger
and how can i get him feeling healthy because i don't want
him to have a problem later in life that you two are gonna have to be dealing with right so that
that would be my take on on that those two and create boundaries don't buy the shit if you buy
this stuff usually the ladies are the ones buying the groceries don't buy it and just say hey if you
want it you go buy it i'm buying it like you do your part like and and put your foot down and say
i'm not doing not because i want you to lose weight i want you to muscle whatever because i
love you and i don't want you to get sick period so i'm not doing it like if you get sick i can't
if i can't put my head in the pillow and think like oh i contribute for that you know what i
mean so use that take then you will never come out as an asshole he might not like it but you
won't come out like you know like the bad guy in the story as you're worried about she's a wise
