Welcome to the Lady Gang.
Starting point is 00:00:28 That's amazing. Say that again. The Lady Gang. Things are about to change around here. Each week, we catch up with Hollywood's hottest girl posse, Kelty Knight, Becca Tobin, and Jack Vanek. Hello, hello, hello. Welcome to The Lady Gang. I am Becca Tobin here with Jack Vanek and Kelty Knight. And my very temperamental microphone. It's just making its own decisions. It controls you. It does control me, just like you control me, Kelty.
Starting point is 00:00:56 exactly i'm like are you talking to me because that definitely is not controlling me no no no i can't even we have already recorded with our guest and kelty kind of smiling because my favorite my favorite part well first of all i love having straight dudes on the lady gang yes it brings a really fun energy and i like that they can give insight into their minds for the girls that listen because we can only give so much dating advice that's not great yes but he's great but my favorite part of this entire hour however long this podcast is is when kelty points out that she's in a leopard print house dress that she bought on amazon she's dressed to impress everyone She hasn't changed out of in a few days. I think it's been a couple of days. I slept in this. I
Starting point is 00:01:53 got up, I put a Birkenstock on, I went and got my double gulp, came back, did a podcast. You're kind of living in like beginning of pandemic days. That's something that we should have been doing last April, you know? I know. And I was dressed up last April. So now I'm, I'm doing it. I'm just delayed being gentle with myself. And this is my favorite house dress. This is the bomb. listen as somebody who wears the same robe every single night i understand the value of a house dress by the way chris knight got that robe the barefoot dreams robe himself no alicia sent it for him for his birthday and i stole it and i totally get it it's incredible i wore it out i'm going outside as a jacket you are turning into me kelty i've never actually shopped for
Starting point is 00:02:39 clothing on amazon but i know that a lot of people do it and there are some good finds not what you're wearing but i've heard there are some good finds so maybe i'm gonna check it out it's you gotta like find the tiktoks that it becomes like a viral thing and it's something that has like 10 000 five-star reviews can we go into it because this has to do with my good week bad week okay well all right it's time for good week yes it is bad week oh no my good week has to do with what we're just talking about amazon not amazon but shopping okay so you know I signed up to like, I have a million emails that I get right in the morning. You wake up and there's like 25 of your shopping emails. And for a while I deleted them all because I was trying not to
Starting point is 00:03:21 shop. And then as the world, I'm like, you know what? I'm going to sign up in West Elm, Crackham Barrel, you know, whatever. And I accidentally re-signed up for the Revolve email, which they send like nine emails a day. But this morning I have to re, I re-unsubscribed after this because i was like this is triggering so i i opened the email and in big letters guess what it said what the baby doll dress is this season's must have silhouette i am now a fashion influencer obviously so josie siwa everyone josie siwa's here to influence your fashion purchases for a sexy mature audience everyone at revolve listens to lady gang and they were like you know what is hot Kelty said it baby doll dresses and then I opened it up and here's how I know
Starting point is 00:04:13 they are following me I opened it up I pressed the link because I was like oh they're gonna have a plethora of baby doll dresses because they've been planning this out for a month there was only seven baby doll dresses available which means they heard it they were like oh baby doll dresses are in we're not fully stocked yet but we're gonna go saying that again every single time you said baby doll dress you f***ed it up baby these are not my real teeth you like had a syllable into it baby doll dresses anyway baby doll dresses are in and it goes with the amazon thing because i have a couple great super cheapy little house baby doll dresses one of them i wear it for painting okay painting like painting i have like a painting dress yeah like when i'm working on
Starting point is 00:04:59 the house i don't like to wear a legging because my leggings are exclusively fabletics and they're fabulous i don't get paint or dust on them so i wear my painting dress that is such a strange choice a painting dress i know what happens if you're up in a ladder your butt's just out yeah well it's long it's long it's like mid-thigh but also it's like i'm in my house alone painting during the day who cares okay got it all right that's not like i'm having if i have a painting party, I'll probably wear something else, but I don't think Revolve heard that you were wearing baby doll dresses and then change their newsletter. You know what it actually might be. If anything, I think it's a coincidence, but if it's not, maybe it's just one of those things
Starting point is 00:05:42 with the algorithm that Revolve has access to all the things that you do on your phone. And it's like baby doll dresses, baby doll dresses, baby doll dresses. And then it's like, you know, Can you say it right though? Can you say it right? I did three times in a row. Yeah. Okay. Let me do my bad week very quickly because baby doll dresses took a very long time. Okay. Okay. Tell me if I'm wrong. Bad week. I went furniture shopping. Finally, I ordered a pair of vintage doors and a light sconce. The light sconce was available in two colors where the inside wire was black or the inside wire was tan. Okay. I paid for the delivery. The lady at the store was like, you pay the delivery driver when they deliver your stuff. I was like, great. Paid for my order, walked out.
Starting point is 00:06:23 Delivery driver comes to my house. He drops off my vintage doors, check. He starts to pull the light out of his truck. And I was like, that's not the right light. That has black inside. I ordered the tan insides. I don't want a black light. I want the tan light. So he's like, okay. He calls the store and she's like, oh, I didn't even realize there were two kinds. It's fine. We'll send it tomorrow. I was like, great. So I paid him his $90 delivery fee, which is not a small delivery fee, by the way. And he comes back the next day. He's like, I'm here with the light. I'm like, okay. He brings the proper light in. I was like, thanks so much. Bye. And he goes and stands outside in the driveway and calls the store and then comes back. And he's like, you need to
Starting point is 00:07:00 pay me the delivery fee again. It was not my fault that you brought me the wrong light. And I had to pay him again, two delivery fees for my one order. Did you know people listen to podcasts so that they can get some escapism and not also be reminded of the monotony of life i was just laughing the whole time because you're like i'll make this short and then i'm like i've i've now trailed off because i can't even pay attention like four different times anyway i'm just i know both of your faces looking at becca's face i wanted to take a video because becca looked like she was dying you looked so distraught and i was like Because I knew I wasn't I knew it was going nowhere, but I was hoping there was a huge
Starting point is 00:07:49 punchline for the punch. Anyway, no, the punchline is I paid the guy twice because it's not his fault that the store fucked up. I wasn't going to withhold his delivery. Do you want to like shout out the business, Demi Lovato? Like, I'm just saying that it's not that was not my fault. And like, OK, all right. Sorry about your ninety dollars.
Starting point is 00:08:12 jesus christ i'm gonna go next and i'll actually make mine short so my good week is so i just posted this sponsored post with jack daniels which is a good week in itself i'm so excited that i'm working with them all i made an outfit to match this jack daniels bottle and i had a knee-high white boot now i'm not kidding half of the comments on my post were like are those the boots that kelty dropped like between her dresser and blah blah blah and it was at that moment that i'm like oh my god i forgot that anybody listens to our podcast i really very concerned i really feel like we talk into the abyss and nobody listens nor remembers especially stories like that'd be like is that the sconce with the black
Starting point is 00:08:58 black interior if anyone texts or does anything about the sconce no it's really it was another one of the stories that went on and on and on i was like what's i forgot about it because it was so like not memorable and they brought a tan they brought the tan cord but these are conversations i have with my grandmother it's insane but anyway they charged another 90 dollars this is that was a sexy mature story because it's like people with lives don't even that doesn't even register in their brain as a memory but people that are paying double delivery fees for the wrong sconce will we have so much empathy for you we're so sorry oh my god okay so that was my good week that people actually
Starting point is 00:09:51 listen to our podcast thank you for listening um my bad week isn't has to do are they the boots were they the boots to do with kelty it also has to do with kelty so we are were they the boots no they weren't i bought a different pair of boots because those boots are not the greatest boots ever so so my well you can have mine if your foot continues to grow which i knew it started growing so if it grows into an eight and a half i'll give them to you thank you my bad week is so we're trying to plan a trip to austin to have like a little staycation maybe work on some some projects that we're doing and we were talking about it the other night and you know we're like okay well maybe we'll do it this week and kelty's like okay but when we go there there is no
Starting point is 00:10:32 drinking we're eating healthy all the time maybe we should get a chef and i'm like beck and i're like are you kidding me are we turning the in this to a golden door retreat like should we do morning meditations and a juice cleanse while we're at it while we're there kelty that was such a weird suggestion. Like no drinking, only healthy eating. Let's spend thousands of dollars on a chef. Like that's my fucking nightmare. I was thinking about fueling our brains so we could be the most productive, but you know what? It's fine. What we're going to have, what we're going to have to do is we're going to have to block it out and be very smart about it. Right. And we're going to have very strict work hours and then very strict party hours. And we'll have to work
Starting point is 00:11:18 around our hangovers but that's fine we'll figure it out also some people are more creative after a drink or two like that's where i'm at my best oh yeah yeah you know you're not wrong all right well but wouldn't you love when you're having that drink to have someone deliver a delicious gluten free banana banana bread or a plate of nachos i would rather be free shit barbecue from one of the most world-renowned barbecue restaurants in Austin or Tex-Mex. Ever heard of it? Kelty's like, we'll bring the juice, a juice cleanse from LA to Austin. No Austin food allowed. Okay. Well, Austin does have great barbecue. Okay. Great barbecue. My good week is I made a discovery and I am really stoked about it because summer is here. This is not a sponsor
Starting point is 00:12:11 of the podcast but it's gonna sound like it because i'm stoked about what i found okay have you ever heard of the app get my boat uh no but i live right outside a shit ton of boats and i'm ready to get one let me tell you something there is an app it's kind of like airbnb but for boats i just put in marina they're in all destinations tons even international you could rent a boat in barcelona barcelona what happens you rent look for 145 an hour there's one in marina del rey you could go sailing does somebody boat you around like does a sailor come do we get a captain does a sailor come yes and a short short you're welcome yes like look at this like it comes with the driver or a captain, not a sailor, not a driver. It's called a captain skipper.
Starting point is 00:13:09 But this app is so cool and you can rent these boats. So I obviously, I moved to Austin and there are two amazing destinations, Lake Travis and Lake Austin. So I rented a boat in a couple weekends for me and my friends. It's a beautiful freaking boat. And I am, it's like, usually it's kind of overwhelming the thought of being like let's get on the water it's like sure who has behind that or whatever or you end up in like a greasy marina with weird people and then there's weird rules like you can't you know tacos but you you know whatever right so anyways i'm excited because i'm not going to use this every weekend that i'm in austin we're on a boat i'm excited for this that's a delight my boat guys get are we gonna have boat day when we come to austin
Starting point is 00:13:52 maybe the chef will be on there. You know what? We can. I'm going to start looking it up. Lake Travis. I used to exclusively wear a sailor hat in New York for like an entire year. Like instead of a baseball hat, it was a sailor hat. That is such a bad business. That is so on brand for you. Yeah, it is. My bad week is this. There are times in your life where as a woman in your thirties, you're reminded that you're dried up, never going to date again. And life is over. Yes. And one of those times happened to me recently with our lovely, lovely employee who shall remain nameless. And she is young, early 20s, newly single. and she's talking about her straight male uh roommate and i just felt a ping of jealousy because i never had a straight male roommate and it just sounds sexy sexy sexy i'm sad about it
Starting point is 00:14:57 and even if zach were to leave me you can't be a 35 year old living with a roommate you missed the boat so so it's just sometimes those things happen where you're reminded of you're not youthful anymore and it's just things that our 22 year old employee does is sad if you're 35 and you do them however we did have something incredible come out of it kelsey would you like to share okay so we're the best bosses ever because we basically said to this employee we're like yo you're newly single you're young you're in your prime you're hot we want to know all the stories like get out there get out and you're probably not supposed to say this but luckily we have an hr department and it's me um so i approved it wow um so we were like go and
Starting point is 00:15:49 she goes no no no like we i have this thing with my straight male roommate it's called open season so now that the world is starting to open again open season open season this is so we're thinking about making a rom-com but open season so so the world's opening back up and she's like everyone's single everyone wants rage everyone wants to meet people and like you're not committing to anyone you're just going to date everyone this is like early lady gang when jack vanek was doing this yeah yeah yeah so open so then it was in a moment so she was like but i was like are you online are you on the apps and she was like you don't even understand the responses i get on the app so for the summer, for the next little while, when we have them, we're going to bring you an
Starting point is 00:16:31 open season update via employee number two. And here's this week's. So she, so guy writes to her and goes with his name, Simon, Simon goes super blunt, but you want to hook up sometime. And she writes back, ha ha ha respect your straightforwardness, but I'm not really looking for just a hookup right now. And he goes, I don't think it'd just be a hookup. I'd probably also go down on you for a good hour or so oh my god simon i just i just love that he's like an hour or so he's just not not necessarily exactly an hour maybe it's going to be 46 minutes and maybe it's going to be an hour and seven minutes and he didn't confirm it he did not confirm i'd probably also go down on you for an hour or so probably that is also considered a hookup now this guy
Starting point is 00:17:22 only thinks a hookup is if he's getting a blowjob or he's getting it in like that can also be considered a hookup. Simon, you dick. Well, Simon, you're never going to get kind of amazing that the meaning of open season. I
Starting point is 00:17:38 just pulled up a period when restrictions on the hunting of certain types of wildlife are lifted. Sexual of open season. Next up it's summer season. It's open season with Carl. so the other day kelty jack and myself got to ride in style to a very exciting event you're

Starting point is 00:23:04 hello hello thank you kelty that was um i know you read that right off the website so nice job finish not the part about the fedora I added that myself I I really love how you dated it so everybody can look back and find it exactly the exact when when the fedora in Carl's defense I needed to find something to like with him yeah because he's so beautiful and perfect and successful so it wasn't even a full fedora it did not have the little like on the front it was like more of like a Florida Georgia line hat like a boater hat I don't know that white hat do you want to describe it Carl you know which one we're talking about uh no I don't actually I have one hat that's large that was custom made for me by a very well-known person here in New York and
Starting point is 00:23:59 a lot of people wear those hats and I thought it looked good so I'm sorry I'll burn it right now sorry that's super rude Kelty she was just trying to humble you I was trying to humble you because we say that you're not a lot well you're not allowed to wear a flip-flop and at fedora at the same time i couldn't see your feet and honestly you looked great in this hat it might have changed my entire mind about fedoras but we're not here for fedoras we're here for your fame how's your fame like summer house we're so excited and it just keeps getting bigger the show just getting oh hell yeah it's just made its way more into the zeitgeist maybe that's what it is And also you guys have become more and more famous and relevant as the show has gone on.
Starting point is 00:24:40 So that's probably a little bit of it, too. Like you guys have growing businesses and your personalities and got a reunion. Yeah. The reunion. I watched part one last night and oh, my God, it was such a doozy. Every time I think I think that I have it figured out what the dynamics are and who's quote being crazy and who's lying and like I can't figure it out it's the it's like watching the best Scorsese movie ever well I'm glad you guys like it um no I mean listen listen I'll
Starting point is 00:25:14 answer Kelty's I mean fame I I don't identify I think that's like a word that is kind of misused I mean listen we're on we're on a show I'm a real person I do run a business I mean I don't know it's I think we've been doing this for so long that I'm like kind of used to being out there a little bit more but i'm shocked every season that we get renewed i mean obviously i'm confident in our group of friends but we're just a regular group of group of people i don't consider us famous by any stretch my favorite thing about you guys and why i i'm not like a bravo watching person at all but i love summer house because you're adults number one you're working real jobs and then you rage your faces off and that is something that i identify very strongly with
Starting point is 00:25:58 And I also respect because usually you're just one or the other, you're hustling your ass off 24 seven, or you're getting wasted every single day. So I love, I love the dynamic of both. Yeah. I mean, I think our show is unique in the sense that, you know, we, I mean, the first season we all like had careers and work during the week and then on the weekends we're letting loose. So, I mean, it's been kind of a fun journey to kind of see where our careers go with the
Starting point is 00:26:22 show. I mean, some of, I've lost my job three times over the years. Uh, some of it probably due to my partying, but yeah, finding my, my stride with Kyle and Amanda and doing lover boy. Um, but I mean, I started season one when I was 31, I'm 36 right now. So it's been quite the journey. Well, what is the hardest part about working with best friend and their fiance? Like this feels like a love triangle and we know a lot about love triangles because we're
Starting point is 00:26:47 in one, but this feels like it's a lose, lose for you. No, I mean, listen, I think there's with any friend. I mean, you guys are friends and you have your business together. I think it's certainly presents challenges, but yeah, I think for me and Kyle, it was a little hard early on because it was just all business and I, Kyle and I are our best friends and I kind of wanted just him to be my friend. Yeah. So they actually didn't show it this past summer,
Starting point is 00:27:10 but we kind of had a heart to heart. I was like, listen, if you text me, it's personal. If you Slack me or email me, we just made this revelation and lady gang, we just started us, started a slack and it's like yeah it's genius slack is work text is fun times oh my god carl is the best bravo liberty next time becca's like i don't want to use slack i don't get it i'm gonna be like i'm just gonna pull up this clip but i will say but when he calls me after a certain hour then it's also like i know it's either or not so like nine to five it's work but after five it's like he probably just wants to check in or see what's up i have a question about uh the show
Starting point is 00:27:51 Like, so this COVID version, you guys didn't go home or back to the city in between, which was that just so much harder? Did the tensions just get so much like what was that like? Yeah, I mean, it was very different than obviously the previous summer. But I think going in where we had all been, which was quarantining, you know, in various parts of New York or at our parents or whoever. So we were all like, yeah, let's go live in a house for six, seven weeks straight. Like who wouldn't want to do that? Oh my God. Like a dream. But as you know, and as you, you witness or have saw on, uh, it's just, listen, like eight or nine people in a house together and can't really go anywhere. We
Starting point is 00:28:31 couldn't go to restaurants. We couldn't go to bars. Uh, yeah, I mean, it was a pressure cooker in a lot of ways, but I think, I think it's interesting because you actually get to see like kind of more about who we really are. And I think it's been fun for me to show who I really am. Just not on the weekends. Actually, people see me like a pretty normal human being, which is kind of nice for a change. Right. Well, I love this. And then a big part of your storyline obviously was, you know, you coming out and saying you're, you're sober. And a lot of people are like wondering, you know, are you past that? Are you drinking again? Are you staying sober? Like what's the plan and no judgment, like whatever. I'm very, very open. Uh, I actually was
Starting point is 00:29:07 just texting, uh, captain Lee from below deck where we're buddies. Um, I texted out 117 days sober. Wow. Congratulations. Thank you. Yeah. I mean, listen, I went into this last summer making a lot of changes in my life and clearly was, you know, kind of deciding and figuring out my relationship with alcohol. So I did drink going into the, to the summer was moderating a little bit and listen, being in that house was a lot. Um, you know, then, you know, my brother passed away and from that point I was kind of like, screw it. So I started drinking more after that. than this fall in New York. Really just hit a really low point and was just decided. I mean, I didn't crash a car or hurt anyone other than myself, but I mean, I'm 36. I just can't live
Starting point is 00:29:50 that life like that. And I needed to take some steps and I'm actually got a sponsor and my life is actually doing really well. It's just something I was afraid to do. But addiction runs in my family. And for me not to take a serious look at it is doing myself a disservice and also just my family. It's awesome. I think it's really important too. Yeah. Congratulations. I think it's really important because, you know, like we said, the show is so huge and there are fans and it's like, you know, it's wild. It's crazy. It's ah, but like you showing this side of yourself, that's very vulnerable. Um, that's what that's real life. You know what I mean? Like it seems all fun to be a TV star until you have to start sharing your innermost deepest
Starting point is 00:30:31 things with the world. And like you doing that, I think it can really change a lot of people's hearts because you seem like, you know, one of us or whatever. So that's awesome. Yeah. I mean, I think it's very relatable, uh, sadly in a lot of ways, but you know, I think I'd ever thought in a million years being on summer house. I mean, yeah, I thought we'd have fun. I thought we'd party and I'd meet girls and do crazy stuff and have great, great experiences. I didn't fully understand the concept of like vulnerability and being honest and open with millions of people that watch each week. So, um, for me to be on this journey and for it kind of unfold on TV is, I mean, it's insane, but I, like you said, it's, I've gotten thousands of messages
Starting point is 00:31:11 from people about my brother and my journey and it's connected with the Bravo audience in a huge way. And personally it's, it helps me be accountable by putting it out there and I've been feeling really good about it all. So I'm, yeah, very grateful to, to get through some of the challenges, but you know, every day I wake up every day and meditate. I've got to take each day day at a time was there any uh like storylines or anything crazy that happened this summer that they completely cut out of the show um no I mean I think there's like small pieces of stuff but for the most part I mean right it's listen I think everybody gets uh the edit they deserve on our show I think if anybody's not gonna name any names well I mean I mean for me like I've deserved
Starting point is 00:31:56 everything I've gotten on the show and I take full responsibility for my actions and I've tried to make changes and grow. And that's, I think for us, um, you know, there's stuff, sometimes you watch it back and you're like, wow, like it, you know, just maybe is presented in a different way, but our show I'm confident is, is the realest show on Bravo. No doubt about it. Wow. I love that. What is your 10 year plan? What do you want to do with all of this fame and fabulousness? Uh, I mean, I'd like to have a family and buy a house. Um, that would be probably top of the list. um, yeah, I mean, I went to Syracuse university for TV and film, and I've been involved in the TV and film industry previous to getting into sales and have a passion for creating projects
Starting point is 00:32:40 and producing. So I have a film that I actually, uh, I'm a producer of that's actually being released next, uh, sorry, this Friday. Um, called silo. Wait, I read all about this, but you guys kind of got screwed because of the pandemic, right? You were supposed to release. and then yeah so we had to delay okay the pandemic but it's it's a film about a you know small town farm and kind of the agricultural impact of safety uh i think a lot of people talk about like farm to table but we really don't know where our food comes from and there's a lot of stories that come out of our farmland that i thought deserved to be told and this is particular one that i connected with and yeah it took from the time i saw the the original script to it being
Starting point is 00:33:18 out now is about six years wow holy shit so it was before summer house and here i am now like being able to use summer house as a way to kind of get people to turn it, tune into it, hopefully. Well, I love that. We'll put up a link and, and, uh, on our social media. All right. So we're going to play a game today. It's called the never have I ever boy edition. Um, and so we're going to have you never have I ever, right? Because you are this, you're the guy that we're like, please don't date him. But then later on he becomes like the guy you marry and you're like, wait, I dated him when he was 21 and it was a disaster. You know, anyway, it's actually not great for girls to see that you're the exception because all the girls that write in their stories about
Starting point is 00:33:58 dating boys you're like don't touch it with a 10-foot pole you can't change a man a man can't change and then here you come and I think you're like the poster child of a reformed boy so yeah I I guess I have to accept that well I mean do you feel like that that fight at during summer house this season with Luke, you could tell, or I felt like I was watching you get so frustrated because you've done all this work on yourself and you've like really looked back at some of the things that you've done in the past as we all have, and you've done the work and you've made your amends with people and he's maybe not there yet. And it's probably hard to watch. No. Yeah. I mean, I think it's a combination. I mean, Kyle and myself being the only two guys that have made
Starting point is 00:34:48 it this far. Um, we have certainly had a lot of ups and downs. I'm not proud of a lot. I mean, I've been the most flawed person in a lot of ways and I've done a lot of horrible things. Um, I've struggled with my alcohol and some of my anger and it's, it's been shown. I mean, but I literally take that stuff to heart. I I've watched it. I've tried to make changes and learn. And I think sometimes on the show, you have to fall on swords sometimes. I mean, there's been situations where I didn't maybe think I was as wrong as maybe others think, but I think as a male and you got to accept, you know, different opinions and step up and take ownership. I felt like at the time Luke was not taking ownership of certain things and avoiding
Starting point is 00:35:28 answering stuff and wanting to talk about certain stuff. And it boiled over. It wasn't a great approach. I'm still embarrassed about that immensely. Um, and Kyle, I know, I know we just didn't approach it the right way, but all we wanted him to show him is the light. Like, dude, I know you screwed up. I know you let Hannah on, but you got to take ownership and not dismiss any of the girl's feelings because you are affecting everybody in the house. Well, if it makes you feel better, all of us at home, we're also raging. So it didn't feel that off base sliding, bro. Yeah. Okay. Intense. So here's the question. Have you ever used your T TV fame to get a date? uh this is in the past this is six years this is not not new to you this is old you
Starting point is 00:36:11 i've never said that like out of the gates i actually don't say it at all because i think it's it could be a weird lead-in and some people if they don't know about it they think you're a tool for bringing it up first um i like to let people like meet meet them on my own without knowing summer house yeah but unfortunately people do recognize me and then that changes very quickly have you ever and i just want to preface preface preface this by letting you know that uh we have all told this story but we want to know from you uh have you ever like gone on like a 7 p.m date with one person and then like an 11 p.m date with one person i went on four dates in one night so like just um throwing it out there no judgment yeah i've definitely done
Starting point is 00:36:52 like not even a date like i'd hang out with someone earlier in the night and then say hey i'm going out after and then meet up with someone like yeah i've been that piece of a shit before for sure is it really that shitty if you're not in a relationship i don't know i don't think it is i had the same bar in different corners and i think it depends on it depends on i think your communication what your intentions are i was probably playing more games than i was being legitimate which is not so have you ever woken up and not known the person's name that you're with uh no i always yeah i mean i've maybe it's a little maybe a little fuzzy but you figure it out pretty quickly have you ever worn flip-flops and a fedora at the same time
Starting point is 00:37:34 uh just to make you mad yes he will tomorrow now kelsey and tag you are they slides or the actual thong like like a thong like a rainbow honestly a slide it might be worse though like a nike slide with a with a fedora i wear like i wear just some basic slides and i don't wear i don't match the fedora with the slides not yet i think a slide is refined it is well slide is a slide in a fedora is fine that means you are on our yacht i'll just say i'll let it slide have you ever hooked up or been interested in a friend's hot mom oh um i've certainly thought my friends moms are attractive but i've never okay i've never gone for it never crossed that line okay last question have you ever used a fake name yes what was your fake name i mean i i've
Starting point is 00:38:30 been drunk when i was in my 20s in la and i'd say i was a hockey player that i was friends with oh that's amazing i was like you could pass as a hockey player for sure but it that runs dry pretty quick that was like 2007 or 8 i would do i was doing that but as people started googling more that i couldn't do that but what's your name i'm wayne gradsky what i was gonna say is my full name is william carl radke so i have i have drunkenly used my name as william to people um before so that's william is like it's very hot it's very like uh what's superman's real name yeah clark kent clark close close no he's like carl as the superhero and then william as like the man who wears glasses in the office businessman in the business how are you meeting women are you
Starting point is 00:39:21 on apps i have never done apps um like i said five minutes ago you know my brother passing away and me getting sober was a priority to take my life seriously and yeah uh dating right now or dating the last six seven months since the show wrapped was just not in the cards for me but um you know more and more every day i've certainly would like to meet someone but uh you know i'm just taking my time and trying to be in the right place before i you know start initiating something with someone it's not fair to bring all my baggage to a new relationship we're like i have someone to set you up i know i feel like we can i'll be texting yeah we have people for you yeah we need matchmaker we need to talk i actually hounded the reason that this happened with carl is because i i'm
Starting point is 00:40:05 part of throwing a big birthday party for my friend jamie lynn sigler and she and i actually and our husbands the four of us talk about summer house so much it's unhealthy and so awkward for all these like old people to be obsessed with it however i am trying to track down the lover boy espresso martinis oh just came out you guys are always drinking them on the show and i'm like looking everywhere sold out everywhere so i literally dm carl and i'm like i am so sorry i'm doing this but i need a ton of them for a boat trip yes did you find him i i am the plug that's for sure um the plug i've i'm working on it so i wanted to update becca but the espresso martini sold out in like less than a week of course it did and it actually sold out so much
Starting point is 00:40:58 we oversold kyle and amanda had to send their own product from their apartment to like offset like another oh mistake um but i'm working on it for jamie i know she's a fan of the show too so we want to try and take care of you guys but we have distributors in austin that can supply the teas for the birthday great but the espresso we're working on so bear with us i'm gonna i'm trying to get an espresso. Wish we knew someone in sales. Cheers. All right. When we come back, Carl's going to fix your life. Okay, so we're back. Carl, for this part of our podcast, we have our listeners writing questions and we try to give
Starting point is 00:45:58 them advice. Usually it's questionable. So don't worry if it's not the best advice you've ever given. Uh, but you know, we like try to try to change our girls' lives. Are you ready for some questions? I'm ready. Okay. First question comes from sassy Sarah. She says my fiance is 27 years old and he's always smoked weed, but recently he started smoking those little vape flavored nicotine pens. I think it's called a jewel. I initially told him I don't care for them. And he said that he had stopped but he has lied to me and continues to buy them and smoke them in our home it's honestly making me feel like he doesn't care what do you think i should do liar that's tough um i you know listen if he's hiding it from her and like saying he quit and then hiding it
Starting point is 00:46:41 from her that's obviously screwed up but i think if he really has a problem quitting he should address that with her and he she should be supportive of him being like listen babe i know it's maybe hard for you to quit but i'm really concerned about your health i think there's a way to approach it in a healthy way versus like saying, screw you. I'm going to break up with you if you don't stop. I have another idea. Oh God. Here we go. My idea is for me, when I see someone smoking like a jewel, it's like, I'm never going to have sex with that person ever again. Cause it's so me, no offense to anyone that loves a jewel. You do you, but I won't be having sex with you. And so I wonder if you're married, Kelsey, that really is a strange rule. It's so
Starting point is 00:47:21 like it's like a married person carl was wearing his flip-flops like i don't want to see your toenails carl you're a very handsome man i don't need to know about the toenails and so i just feel like you could be like you know what i find so unsexy is jewels if you want to turn me on you will not smoke that jewel around me listen he might be trying to quit smoking too and that's kind of the way to quit smoking and in a way that's not you guys are nicer than me i've gotten drunk many nights and found myself holding a jewel so i'm really not allowed to say anything yeah becca i've i've i spoke the jewel i do um so it's it's not i'm not proud a lot of people smoke jewels that you don't know about it's very commonplace oh my god um i also think with that
Starting point is 00:48:06 if that is the only thing that is wrong about this guy you need to just let it go like if he is a great partner and he treats you right and he's amazing then and his only flaw is smoking a jewel, like you need to, it's fine. And everybody's allowed their secrets. I have a secret credit card. Okay. There it's fine. It'll sometimes it saves your marriage or your relationship. Little secrets are okay. That's right. Keep your secrets. Okay. Next question comes from not a homewrecker. She said, there's this guy that I work with that is clearly flirting with me, but he's married. He had to move for his job and his wife couldn't. So they're currently long distance. He never brings up his wife. And I've had coworkers tell me, OMG, he's totally
Starting point is 00:48:46 flirting you should go for it i always respond no he's married i have zero intention of doing anything because i'm not a homewrecker so is it wrong that i like the attention and flirt back from time to time to boost my confidence and skills for realistic suitors or do i need a hard cold skill like how she's saying it's practice or do i need to hard cold shoulder this guy wait did you say it's a co-worker yes it's a co-worker that's married that's flirting with her and she feels bad does she want to does she want to have a paycheck or what i mean that's what i'd ask herself look at the mirror do you want to make money next week yes or no if you say yes cut it off also it's like you know it's not going anywhere why do you have to do it in the office
Starting point is 00:49:29 like don't shit where you sleep go flirt with some other random dude on tinder actually sorry carl i read a new york times article on this exact topic last week and it was like the life of a work wife. And it said, it's actually really healthy for men and women to have their person at work and they treat them like their wife. And it's like, you get lunch together, you support each other, you blah, blah, but then you go home and like how everyone has a work wife or a work husband. But that's different. This guy's obviously flirting with her and trying to work wives and work husbands flirt with each other too, though. I think I agree. And I feel very cheated right now that you two are my work. I mean, first of all, don't be flattered because
Starting point is 00:50:22 we all know married men are not getting action. So they're going to flirt with anything and everything. So don't take it as a compliment. Put yourself in the wife's shoes. It would be really shitty to have your significant other going, being long distance and flirting with somebody. I'm imagining in my mind, this girl's like 21 and this guy's like 45 because that's the movie you saw last week. Yeah, probably. Um, yeah, you have to stop because everything with a few cocktails, it's going to turn into an affair. That's just, you're always on the edge. It's the reality. Then you're going to get sucked in. I think she should establish some boundaries. okay listen to carl everyone not me okay our last whole episode no wonder my life's a mess
Starting point is 00:51:12 our last question comes from pat she says is it true that many attractive people especially females have sexy belly buttons and don't even know what how did this question get on here why do people some why do some people think that belly buttons are sexy p.s there are even rumors that there's a female celebrity belly button message board on the internet becca tobin and kelty knight have been posted i take offense to that i'm so famous belly buttons are on the internet my belly button is amazing i'm the one of the three of us that shows their belly button the most what the i know you gave it away too much for free what's the website bellybuttons.com i'm gonna find it you know like feet pics like wiki feet there might be like a wiki bellybutton.com
Starting point is 00:51:53 and carl we have very high ratings on wiki feet just so you know i can't wait to go on there after this interview yeah well do you have a thing like my husband has a thing with certain weird quirks or traits that females have that is like a dead stop for him like he never would have talked to me if i had a toe ring on i have a toe ring on currently or like he does notice weird belly buttons but on men and women he just gets really hung up on weird looking belly buttons it's not your fault it's how the umbilical cord falls off but do you have any like weird quirks about things you find attractive like if someone has a soul patch it's no for me it doesn't even matter that it's removable it's a non-starter i i have a thing with teeth i've because i've worked in the dental
Starting point is 00:52:42 industry and i've for just for like seven eight years i work for like i would look at you know people's teeth every day and i that's like where i go to whenever i meet someone i'm like if they have really like if there's a tooth that's really screwed up that can mess with me i know it's kind of mean but just one bad tooth yeah yeah no i feel yeah just being honest i really liked sierra's response to your saying that she had a really great smile on the reunion she had this really she goes yep three and a half years in braces and like gives a cute peace sign it's just like the cutest thing i've ever seen yeah no that that's funny i i was um i had braces when i like in my late twenties in New York, I wore them because of the company I worked for,
Starting point is 00:53:24 I sold them. So I was like, what better way to sell the product and actually wear it as a 28 year old man. Uh, how long I wore them for a year. And I was actually sold a lot of braces that year. Uh, surprisingly. Damn. That is hustle. That is hustle. Dedication to the job. And look, you know, it worked out. So I mean, your teeth are amazing. Get the same amount of attention from females yeah that was my first question i actually i'll never i've been laughed at like i had girls come up to me be like i can't believe you're wearing braces out right now i'd be like it's not like i'm getting my teeth fixed they're gonna be straight in eight months and you're gonna wish you didn't say that yeah everyone on summer has a great grill i did notice that
Starting point is 00:54:02 in the reunion great girl great girl oh i think um me and lindsey no a couple of us go to the same dentist i forget who lindsey has great teeth as he does have good teeth lindsey's for sure thank you well carl it's been great getting to know you well kelty kelty i it's okay i'll i'll burn my fedora i'll burn the sandals whatever it might not even be a fedora i don't think it's not we're gonna look later fedora it's it's honestly this man has go grab it let's see if this is a fashion hat here's the thing i was gonna say is that there's no flaw to carl you know what i mean like he's so beautiful that yeah that's the hat yeah that's not a fedora i mean it's fedora ish though this is look at how happy he is that's not that's not even close to
Starting point is 00:54:53 it's like a wide brim hat you can't hear us that's an over that's an oversized fedora no that is not even close to the fedora's brim like goes up it has like a carl i'm wearing a leopard print house dress from amazon right now so i don't think you should take offense to me uh with my choice of what i think a fedora is and on that note we're so happy you're here i have one last thing jack slid into my dms like oh my god yes excuse me what how is this happening right now okay i didn't know i was like should i bring this up or should i not because i i was like i think carl and i have talked before and i went and i looked back at her dms and i was like oh no i i didn't know i didn't know i didn't know much about you at that point but i just i remember we responded
Starting point is 00:55:40 a few times and then i looked back like a year later and i was like holy shit she's famous no no no but can i uh the reason i had taken an ambien and then i was watching summer house and i was like oh my god this guy is so hot i think a really good idea is to slide into his dms when i'm on ambien so that's how that started well jack don't sleep on me okay this is got puns girls puns for days puns and puns they're not they're not good trust me i just i like saying stupid stuff sometimes so thank you for letting me a pun will always get a giggle out of us i know well carl we think you're very cute you can follow carl at Carl Radke and follow a lover boy.
