Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey guys, the following podcast is a Lady Gang Network and Podcast One production, which means it's going to be awesome. Well, what is this? Welcome to the Lady Gang. That's amazing. Say that again. The Lady Gang. Things are about to change around here.
Starting point is 00:00:17 Each week we catch up with Hollywood's hottest girl posse, Kelty Knight, Becca Tobin, and Jack Vanek. Hello, hello, hello, and welcome to the Lady Gang. I am Becca Tobin here with Jack Vanek and Kelty Knight. Hi guys. What's up, what's up, what's up? How's it going? It's pretty freaking good.
Starting point is 00:00:33 You're excited, aren't you? I'm always excited when I get to have a friend on the pod. I mean, I consider everyone my friend. Oh, hello. It's cool. Are we your friends? Yeah. I mean, not as good.
Starting point is 00:00:45 I'm just kidding. She's sick of us. Rude. All right. Well, we don't sing like angels, so I understand. Yeah. I understand. I feel like when, okay, when Christina's around, I feel cooler because she's like my friend,
Starting point is 00:00:58 but she's so cool. that I'm like oh my god I'm cooler because we're friends you don't feel less cool because she's like
Starting point is 00:01:04 cooler than you no she takes me up to her level I think oh okay does she not no she does I mean
Starting point is 00:01:10 it's like she helps your street cred for sure thank you yeah she does help with street cred it's like I have lots
Starting point is 00:01:14 I have other friends but they're all kind of nerds too but Christina's like kind of legitimately she's kind of a nerd too but then she's really hot and like does cool shit
Starting point is 00:01:21 yeah like a cool nerd she's a cool nerd hot nerd hot nerd for the best alright it's time for good week yes it is bad week oh no i'm going first guys something amazing happened on the
Starting point is 00:01:38 lady gang facebook god damn it is it gonna be the same thing that i'm gonna talk about if it is sorry bitch this is why i was so antsy to start okay sorry if you hear the feedback from my phone ready yeah i'm not gonna say her name hi lady gangers anyone lost a snake this is yours have you seen this yet it's truly amazing it's most insane post i've ever seen in my life we could have a joint good okay because it is long okay okay ready okay hi lady gangers anyone lost a snake in their car i've checked everywhere and can't physically see it so i think it's somewhere in the dashboard i made an appointment in my car dealership to take apart the car to look for it it's not even my snake it belongs to the guy i'm dating he thinks it's stuck
Starting point is 00:02:25 or left the car completely honda dealership is quoting 400 i mentioned it to my guy and he sounded hesitant but said okay my friend thinks he shouldn't have to pay because he never asked me to take it to honda please share your thoughts listen kimberly i'll pay the 400 if that snake is in that car this post you capture the footage this post makes me so happy because the post is basically just like so casual it's like hey ladies ever got a really big zit on your face like i thought a snake was code for like a fancy phone charger like i'm not kidding i was like a snake where is it the new ear pod like what is happening the worst part it's not even my snake i love the people who wrote back though all the memes are amazing i would be burning the car and moving
Starting point is 00:03:16 on to the next guy i just like i've never seen a post and then this girl said i work for a rental car company this has happened more times than you would believe i've seen us take cars apart and not locate the snake only for it to pop out of the backseat a week later no okay to be fair i once lost um a hamster in a car it like went into like excuse me i mean it was like my friend's dad's old shitty van like you know where like the bottoms of the car kind of like you could take the bot like the bottom sort of off so it went through the bottom and like into one of the hamster willy-nilly loose and we were watching the neighbor's hamster and then it wasn't even my hamster wasn't even my got lost in the car and then we had to buy them a new hamster
Starting point is 00:04:10 and and like pretend that it was their hamster and they obviously knew it wasn't so i kind of understand oh my god wow okay all right well that was my good week here's my bad week have you guys seen the ads on instagram for my sweet v i'm not i haven't been getting those i haven't been targeted for those either that says a lot about you though creates tasty secretion guys i'm for real serious right now i think it's because of some of the accounts that i follow like all those like funny meme those like drunk girl meme account yeah and they're like targeting what do you mean what is it it's a candy something you eat it and vitamin oh so it's like pineapple i didn't dive very far into this all i saw was a girl holding a vitamin thing and she's like my man had loves it
Starting point is 00:05:02 when i eat this you notice that i tasted sweeter than usual oh i thought i was gonna die oh how disgusting but that's also how they say if you eat pineapple you taste better but how are they going through like the no it's for ladies ladies the lady gang but how do they go through like the testing of that who's tasting this yeah what's the take what's the lab are we in listen i don't know but my sweet v guys my sweet v wow they should buy ads on this podcast i okay i'm next honestly they should buy ads i mean i'm willing to try it seems like a lady gang product bad week you guys know that i'm on the road to fame so uh it's been it's been raining a lot in la and the Rain caused my beautiful bougainvillea tree to fall over and knock out my neighbor's roof, which was, like, not great.
Starting point is 00:05:56 You know what I mean? But that wasn't even the worst part of the story. So I'm texting with my neighbor, and he's like, I'm like, oh, the tree fell, and we have to hire these people. $6,000 for them to come and, like, cut down the tree. It was crazy. They had, like, nine guys out there, hardhats, two in the morning, saws, a word chipper. I mean, it was so intense. But that wasn't the worst part, you guys.
Starting point is 00:06:17 The worst part is that my neighbor texts me and goes, thank God this didn't happen when Lupita was living there. And I was like, oh, hold the phone. Lupita Jones? Lupita Nyong'o was living at my next door house. Jones? Who's Lupita Jones, honey? I just had a stroke, I think. Anyway, Lupita, the Lupita Nyong'o, was living as my neighbor.
Starting point is 00:06:39 And you didn't know? For like the last three months. I never saw her. I didn't think anyone was living at that house. I could have been friends with her. we could have been having dinner parties we could have been
Starting point is 00:06:47 dates to the Met Gala like I was so close to being she's pretty busy yeah I mean she's busy yeah but we could have been friends anyway that was bad
Starting point is 00:06:54 doubt it what does that have to do with your fame you're opener for this here's the thing it's a bad week because she missed an opportunity
Starting point is 00:07:01 to be a famous friend yeah oh okay well I mean a lot of bad things happened in that story my tree fell over it was beautiful it was a combo
Starting point is 00:07:07 combo well I guess but the worst is that she couldn't be friends I didn't know about Lupita I would have knock knock knock if you need anything
Starting point is 00:07:13 let me know here's my phone number A little butter, some sugar. Yeah, exactly. Or whatever nails you. Okay, good week. So I'm getting my nails done at the nail salon, and I'm on the end chair, and this gaggle of five of the oldest ladies I've ever seen.
Starting point is 00:07:28 I mean, they have man helpers with them, which I love. There's like guys helping them up the stairs, getting them in, bringing them polish colors over, because they are old AF. Like 100? Like old. Like one might die. This is an outing from the nursing home. Oh.
Starting point is 00:07:43 It was the sweetest thing I've ever seen in my life and it's such a good week. So then the lady comes over and she goes, okay, I'm ready for the first person. And they all look at each other and goes, who's going to go first? And then they go, oh. And then this one lady goes, well, I'm the oldest and gets up and then goes first. And I was like, this is me in the lady gang. Because it sucks to be the oldest in any group because you're just the oldest. except when you're so old
Starting point is 00:08:14 that you get to get your manicure first when you're like 99. Because you might die. Yeah. You might die. She gets to appreciate her nice nails longer.
Starting point is 00:08:20 Exactly. You never know when she's just going to fall over. It was dope. I'm going to be honest. I loathe going to the nail salon.
Starting point is 00:08:27 I hate it. So I won't be doing that when I'm 100. They were there for the months and then this one other lady, I mean this has
Starting point is 00:08:33 nothing to do with it but she was like I want a color like this and she reached down and she took off you know those like socks that grandmas wear where they're like nylons
Starting point is 00:08:39 but they're like a sock? She took it off she had a bright blue toenail And I was like you still wild girl Yeah you know she had like a wild youth You got it girl My good week was the same as Becca's That was the best story I've ever heard in my entire life Like unreal
Starting point is 00:08:55 And I asked her if we could use it and she never answered My worst nightmare My bad week One of our lady gangers wrote on the Facebook group And she was like I was doing a little stalking And I was looking up Jack's new boyfriend So I was googling him and like clicking on articles And she goes, and then I came across this really interesting Urban Dictionary article.
Starting point is 00:09:14 And this is what it is. It says the Jared Monaco is a sexual act. Is his last name Monaco? Yeah. Legally? Legally. Is that a stage name? Is his stage name Monaco?
Starting point is 00:09:24 Jack. He doesn't have a stage name. He's a musician. Some musicians, Freddie Mercury was not born. If you get married, you'll be Jack Monaco. Well, that's why I'm asking. I'm not changing my last name. He could be like Snuffleupagus.
Starting point is 00:09:37 I'm not dating somebody with a stage name. I wouldn't put it past you. I wouldn't put it past you. Actually, I know. I'm like, have I dated somebody with a stage name? I'm sure you have. Yeah. Anyways.
Starting point is 00:09:48 I can't wait to find out when they go to sign their marriage certificates that Monaco is a stage name. You will never live this down. Never. Okay. The Jared Monaco, a sexual act which involves inserting a man's testicles into a woman's vagina and pooping into slash on her asshole. A variant includes simply pooping into the woman's asshole. That's so complicated. And you're sitting...
Starting point is 00:10:14 I'm thinking anatomically wide. I don't even know how you can do it. Anatomically wide, how do you do this? But the best part of it, this is so random, and the best part of it... His ex-girlfriend wrote that. It was added last month into Urban Dictionary, who nobody uses anymore. His ex-girlfriend. And it's by I Am The Captain Now, which is from...
Starting point is 00:10:34 What was that movie? What? this took a turn where he it's um you know what I'm talking about I am the captain yeah it's that meme
Starting point is 00:10:43 where it's like the pirates take over the ship with um Tom Hanks is it Tom Hanks yeah yeah Captain Phillips or something
Starting point is 00:10:51 oh Captain Phillips yes or whatever the hell it is yes you know that meme that's Captain Phillips anyways it was
Starting point is 00:10:57 it was an interesting have you have you brought it up to the Jared Monaco that you might want to try the Jared Monaco I have not tried I mean I wouldn't be
Starting point is 00:11:04 doing the Jared Monaco I'd have the Jared Monaco done to myself and no i wonder if i could fit balls in my vagina oh my god where does the penis go nowhere it just flops how does it look okay when we come back my best friend's here and she's gonna talk about birthing you're listening to the lady gang our guest today is someone i've known for over 15 years i would like for her to say our guest today is someone i've known for A Thousand Years. Ba-ba-ba-ba.
Starting point is 00:11:35 And truly cannot live without. After her first single, Jar of Hearts, was featured on So You Think You Can Dance, she began to release hit after hit after hit, including Becca's favorite, A Thousand Years. There you go. Her debut album, Love Strong, reached number four on Billboard's Hot 200, as well as her next studio album, Head of Heart. Head or heart? Head of Hearts?
Starting point is 00:11:55 No, this is not it. We're not best friends. Sorry. Well, it's really comforting to know she even f***ed up her best friend's intro She has a tendency to do this You know what I hate you Now after topping the charts touring the world Getting married and having a beautiful baby named Carmella
Starting point is 00:12:10 She's cracking open our hearts again With lullabies that can work On both babies and adults I might have fallen asleep to it Once or twice Please welcome to the lady gang My best friend obviously I know All of her facts and the new
Starting point is 00:12:26 Birther of songs for Carmella Christina Perry welcome back we have so many things to talk about first let's talk about you shaving your face oh great the most important thing to talk about is did our face shaper work
Starting point is 00:12:43 no because Christina is like I have a beard are you hairy? well I'm super Italian so yes wait can I just say I interrupted you do you want to finish what you were saying well I was just going to say over the holidays when our lady box was on sale Christina texted me and she's like yo man can I get
Starting point is 00:12:58 one of those lady boxes? Yeah, but you know which one got me? You know which video got me? What? The one of you shaving your face. I know.
Starting point is 00:13:05 That's when you wrote me. And you even opened it and showed, like, this, like, weird fuzz. Yes. And I was like, oh, my gosh. Like, imagine how much
Starting point is 00:13:10 I can get off of my Italian face. That video is why we sold out. Yeah. Really? Yes. I mean, good job on you because that got me.
Starting point is 00:13:17 I was like, hey, like, can I go and order these online? Like, how do I? Can I have a link? I'll pay for it. I'm like, girl, I'll send you one. it's fine. I feel really bad because I didn't even do like an unboxing thing. You didn't open
Starting point is 00:13:27 it. Did you open it yet? I only used the face shaver. I did. I was excited. And then I forget what happened. I like went out of town or whatever. Cause I saw you in December or something. And then you're, and then you're like, I'm so sorry. I've been so busy. I'm going to open the box. I'm like, it's going to be the spring box soon. Yeah, no, totally. I hadn't opened it. And then I opened it just for the face one. And then use it. Yes. And I got so much hair. It was so gross. I mean, And it was way grosser than yours because you're not Italian. Like, I had hair I didn't even know, like, so stuck underneath my chin. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:59 It's that secret mustache you never knew about. Yeah. Yeah, I mean, I pluck my hair all the time. I actually have a chin hair that my mom has, also that my dad makes the funniest joke. They've been married 40 years, and he's always, like, he always wonders how long that hair is because she's been plucking the same one for 40 years. So he jokes that it's, like, coming from her toes. It's so gross. Anyway, I'm like, you know, taking after my mom, I guess.
Starting point is 00:14:22 And I do that all the time. But like the whatever that thing was got the peach fuzz that you don't know about. That gets real, real long. Yeah. But then the next couple of days, do you not feel like a goddess? Because your skin is so smooth. Honestly, it was life changing. I've never had such a smooth jawline.
Starting point is 00:14:43 Who needs contour, you know? Just shave your face. You might have a full beard that you never knew about. my favorite mom story we're here to talk about your beautiful lullaby album okay which is gorgeous and we have so many lady gang mommies and i know they are listening to it and loving it but my funniest before we get into mom questions my funniest christina mom story is that you definitely don't remember this but i think carmella was maybe six weeks old i was maybe six maybe eight weeks i'm not sure we were in new york you're in your old apartment and it was like one of the
Starting point is 00:15:18 first times you've left her with paul and i came into town and you were like i just you were going to your first ever event leaving the house for the first time and you're like i just need a manicure let's let's just go get a manicure i was like she's like paul take the baby so we go sit down and she's like i've been wearing these pants for six weeks and i was like it's okay let's get a manicure you're gonna be okay you're gonna be a girl she turns to me and the poor girl getting a pedicure and her manicure she looks like she's shell shocked she turns her little face to me at the mannequin chair and she goes am i ever gonna be cool again oh i still don't feel cool you look cool do i yeah thank you thank you you're doing a really good job faking it yeah yes i'm just so
Starting point is 00:15:58 proud of you so i want to know about the that's heartbreaking it is like i really hurt inside it's hard get your shit back it's so hard oh my god it's hard when did your body looks amazing thank you i worked out so much i really really tried like i but here's the thing i want to say for the first 10 months like after having a baby i just like didn't weigh myself like i really tried not to care as much as i would have maybe pre-baby you know what i mean like i would i didn't even think about getting into certain clothes um i bought new clothes i feel like that's a thing that some women just don't want to do and i was just like i'm buying a size up or two sizes up or whatever and then like slowly i started to fit into some of my favorite clothes um and then
Starting point is 00:16:47 though i just felt better working out so i've been working out a lot because now i really want to feel great and i do sort of look almost the way i looked before i had a baby but i wasn't obsessed with it i have to say like i really really just because i would have just gotten so dark like i gained 70 pounds uh when i stopped yes 70 that's kate hudson status remember when she had her first baby and everyone's like kate hudson 70 pounds really i don't know that but maybe i should have read about it i would have felt better about myself yeah now our bodies usually gain they say like 35 oh my god wait wait holy shit all right here's the thing the baby inside of you also she was also like at least 10 pounds underweight
Starting point is 00:17:27 I was super skinny, but at the same time, the food I craved were waffles. I just can't help it. You had waffles before? Not every single day. But I ate a waffle every single day until the moment my OB was like, Christina, that's the end of waffles. You're filled with maple syrup. Wait, wait, wait.
Starting point is 00:17:48 I'm not even kidding. Paul was away. My husband was in L.A. working, and I call him crying from the Uber home. I'm like, and then she said, I'm not allowed to eat waffles anymore. And he was like, wait, what? And I was like, yeah, I'm not allowed to eat waffles anymore. He's like, um, he's like, don't open the package at the front door. I was like, what did you do?
Starting point is 00:18:06 He's like, I bought you a waffle maker. Oh, no. I was like, no. I was crying hysterically over waffles. So that's why I think I gained 70 pounds. Like, I don't think most people do that. Also, good for you, though. I feel like having a girl is different than having a boy.
Starting point is 00:18:23 Like, I feel like if I was pregnant with a boy, I probably would have gained less. girls just sort of take over everything especially with your hormones or whatever but um i didn't think about it too i was like i'm pregnant i can eat whatever i want and so i did good for you 99 waffles i love this 99 waffles um so tell us about all the gruesome stuff because you know lady gang when we get a mom on becca's sister came on after you actually the first time and told us that when she gave birth, like, a package of grapes fell out of her butt. The bundle of grapes. What's the yuckiest thing that happened to you, pregnant or giving birth?
Starting point is 00:18:59 That was hemorrhoids. Oh, okay. Look. I am, okay, yucky. Well, um. You had an aggressive nipple after. I did. Oh, yeah, the bleeding nipples is brutal.
Starting point is 00:19:12 I didn't know they bled. Well, see, you're just saying not everybody has that. I mean, some people don't. Some people don't have hemorrhoids. Some people don't tear. Some people don't hate being pregnant. I don't know who those people are. They're fucking monsters.
Starting point is 00:19:26 They're lying. They're just lying. They're glowing. Or they're doing drugs their whole pregnancy. Maybe. Or they, no, I will say, I think what happens, and I have this theory with my friend who's pregnant with her second baby, and she's like, oh, no, it happened to me. Like, when you get pregnant and you only remember being, like, loving it, it's a trick.
Starting point is 00:19:42 It's to get you pregnant again. Like, that's the only thing you can think of. Because if, like, I only tell people that, because I'm just so honest about it. I'm like, when they say, oh, how was your pregnancy? I'm like, well, I was sick for three months and then I was sad for three months and then I was fat for three months. So how do you think? And I cried over waffles. I mean, really, that was how that's my pregnancy in a nutshell.
Starting point is 00:20:06 Obviously, super worth it when you make a human. But as far as gross, I mean, everything's gross. Like everything. Like I remember – well, first of all, the weirdest part I feel like that I had to get used to was like even just bringing a dude into your OB office. Like Paul, my husband, thinks he's hilarious. And he was like literally the first appointment we had pregnant. Like, you know, my legs are in the thing and like there's my husband or actually he was just my boyfriend at the time. So it was even weirder.
Starting point is 00:20:35 I'm like this is just bizarre that you're going to stand there and watch this happen. And then he was so nervous, he, like, grabbed the toy uterus and he was, like, playing with it, like, run out my baby, run out my daughter. Like, all the nurses were in love with him. And then they were like, oh, Paul. And I was like, get out of here. I was, like, so sick. Like, this is not the Paul show. Yeah, exactly.
Starting point is 00:20:56 But if you know him, that's him. But I feel like every single thing that happens to your body is pretty awful. The fight. Yeah, the whole time. But, like, you know, you keep in the back of your mind, like, oh, you know, this is all going to be worth it. I mean, that's sort of the, like, the bow at the end. But I feel like I had a pretty good birth. Like, I was hoping that some things would happen and hoping that some things wouldn't happen.
Starting point is 00:21:23 Because I feel like now if you have, like, a birth plan, they say, like, it's not going to happen the way you want it to and your body does what it wants or whatever. So, like, I really didn't want to get induced because then it's, like, ten times more painful. At least this is what I read. And so I did, like, a regular hospital birth. I did not want to give birth in a pool. I didn't have a prenatal doula, but I had a postpartum doula, which was cool and a little bougie. I actually gave birth.
Starting point is 00:21:51 I have to brag. I gave birth in Beyonce's room. You did? Yeah. Wait, in New York? In New York. My friend did it. At Lenox Hill Hospital.
Starting point is 00:21:58 It's a bomb-ass room. Wait, take us inside the Beyonce birthing room. It's like the Four Seasons. I can't believe she didn't, like, have her own, like, bought her own part of the hospital. She did. It's a wing. She redesigned and bought an entire floor of the maternity ward. And what's funny is they, like, won't say who it is.
Starting point is 00:22:15 Like, they were like, our investor. I'm like, it's Beyonce. Like, I know it. I know it's Beyonce. She literally, like, had, I want to say, like, seven rooms. Which, sidebar, why are there that many people there when you're giving birth? Like, I didn't want anyone there. I didn't want my husband there.
Starting point is 00:22:32 And, like, she's got 17 people. but anyway she just had it as nice as I think a hospital could be I have to say it was like still a hospital yeah like the food like wasn't the best but it wasn't terrible it was like better than you'd think was there like a like a heated blanket or like like a like a nice like four seasons sheet on the bed no absolutely not there was a second bed though which I feel like it's helpful for whoever you have with you and and your room's big enough for that but so it wasn't like the fanciest but i felt really fancy because it was where blue ivy was born you know yeah i'm gonna get those good vibes yeah yeah um so anyway i just feel like uh did you have to reserve that
Starting point is 00:23:13 i did you have to like pay extra i did wait knowing my friends stalked the girl who did the scheduling and all of that at the hospital and adjusted when she got induced so she could get that room damn that's commitment that is here's the thing i was definitely worried because i'm like all right i'm giving birth in manhattan like i'm sure a gazillion people are giving birth on this day you know what i mean and they won't reserve it although they did tell me that a couple people reserved it for like twenty thousand dollars a day and this person was like incredibly wealthy so i'd rather go to bora bora yeah exactly i would literally rather travel around the world yeah later i was definitely not gonna do that especially because i was super late i'm not super
Starting point is 00:23:53 late i was like six days late but that felt super late yeah and uh so that would have been real expensive um so i took a chance and they were like well you can't reserve it you know let's just hope there's no one in it when you go into labor and i remember thinking like i'm pretty sure i asked first like is there anyone in that room and they're like no no you're good because it was like uh i don't know maybe just a light day in new york thank god but i got it but i also paid so you pay extra and then they give you a choice like four choices like your first choice your second whatever and i did get my first choice so of rooms yeah i did not know that it was that extra like such a process of rooms i also am like you know very vibey and like i brought um this
Starting point is 00:24:35 like light for the ceiling i brought candles which you're not allowed to light so then i brought like essential oils and then i had um disney music playing the whole time it's very cool that is vibey yeah they don't just have like a stereo that plays beyonce in that room no all the time I actually what's funny this song that I play
Starting point is 00:24:55 every single show before every single show I've ever done I play Beyonce's Love on Top like that's my hype song and like I swear to God Paul was like
Starting point is 00:25:03 do you want me to put on Beyonce while you're dilating I was like no don't ruin this song for me but I so I actually
Starting point is 00:25:11 don't even remember what happened when I did push because this gets so intense I'm sure you black out yeah you kind of black out here's what I will say
Starting point is 00:25:18 I think what's really interesting especially for women and like people who have kids know and people who don't have kids don't know this like we just get so afraid of the day you give birth like when you get pregnant it's like the first thing you think of and then like for the your whole pregnancy you're you know preparing for it you're reading about it you're like here are the worst stories ever and like now that that was like a year and two weeks ago
Starting point is 00:25:40 that was the easiest day that was like the beginning of her life which everything is harder after that i would say like not to like be a bummer but at the same time it's not as bad as you think because it's one day you know what i mean and it's just like you black out you you have the baby sometimes you can't not you push it exactly you're there's no way out you have it and then shit gets really crazy but like i wish i knew that i wish like maybe there's no way to like tell people not to trip out about the day they give birth but like it's really not the scariest day I think breastfeeding is 10 times harder. Fun.
Starting point is 00:26:20 Okay, so cool. Everyone get excited. So when did you feel like you came up for air and then like musical career Christina could come back? Was it hard? That's a good question. Well, I did write You Mean the Whole Wide World to me to her when she was like eight weeks old, which is on my Lullaby record. and i i think that's the only day i sat at the piano like i'm not gonna lie from now or from from when she was born until october so 10 months and then i went to nashville and i made the album
Starting point is 00:26:52 so i'd say the first 10 months of her life i was way too tired i also breastfed every hour and a half which was like you know not good for being productive in any way i was just a cow for her you know just like just always with her stuck to her um and then that slowly stopped like she started to wean herself and then as soon as that happened like i was really bummed about it but i had space in my brain again to be creative like and i will say like i feel like not enough people talk about the mourning of their previous self like i was so um prepared i thought like i read every book i went to all the classes i read blogs i read you know everything they say don't read the good stuff the best i i feel like i got so intellectually prepared and then when it all
Starting point is 00:27:40 happened i was so bummed that like my like all of a sudden your life's just so different and you can't prepare for that part and so like the whole first year you're also mourning who you used to be and i remember talking to my therapist because i want to say like maybe six weeks after giving birth like i came up for air for the first time like as just a human being like i just didn't feel very functional until then and uh and then I had a session with my therapist and I was just like this is the craziest thing in the whole world like why am I so sad and it wasn't postpartum depression it was just the blues which everybody gets but I feel like everybody gets it and then they say everybody gets it but they don't really say why everybody gets it and it's hormonal for
Starting point is 00:28:27 sure it's physiological but it's also like oh wow like you're looking especially in 2019 like or 18 you're looking at everyone on instagram and like kelty's obsessed with journaling like your fancy little markers and you're and you're like it's called bullet journaling i hope you're not like reminiscing of times you could do that oh i know i'm pretty sure i cried i'm pretty sure i no no well that's how nerdy i am i was like oh my god paul how does she have time to do that and then i'm like oh right like there was my previous self that, you know, I was only, I only didn't have a baby for 31 years of my life. Like, and then people were like, oh, I can't remember the day, you know, before I had my
Starting point is 00:29:10 baby. I'm like, I totally remember everything before I had a baby. That's all I can think about. It was amazing. Yeah. But that's what you're, that's like, you have to have that honesty and that thought process because otherwise it turns into shame. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:21 Well, it'll eat you alive for sure. Yeah. Because then you're just like, oh my God, I can't believe I miss who I used to be. No, you totally miss who you used to be. Like, I'm never going to be able to journal like that. Or maybe I will when she's in college. but like you got 18 years 17 years you got a long time um and then when this record came out you had to jump back into the like i'm gonna play the morning shows and i'm gonna do interviews with
Starting point is 00:29:43 like people and like i have to do press and and jump back into like career woman yeah and how was that because i think a lot of mommies they have to go back to work and like you're like Like, here's someone else now take care of this baby, and that's got to feel crazy. Yeah, it's a little bit heartbreaking. I've been having so many chats with women who work. And I have to say, first of all, like, some women go back to work six weeks after they give birth. Some go back about, like, four months. Like, every career maybe has a different sort of window.
Starting point is 00:30:16 I also feel like America is the only one, you know, that doesn't have— Yes, in Canada you get a full year paid. No, no, and then they pay the man in Canada. So it's like— Then the dad can take a year. Same with, like, Norway. I mean, everywhere other than America and Guam. That's the statistic I read, that we're the only real place that doesn't do that.
Starting point is 00:30:34 And so I feel like I have so much love and compassion and respect for women that go back to work. And especially like my mom. My mom did that when she had me. She went back to work six weeks after she's a hairdresser. She, like, had to work. And so I feel like that would be even a million times more heartbreaking. So I have to say I was really lucky that I could go 10 months before I went back to work. And when I went back to work, for me, that looked like I brought Paul and Carmela and Paul's sister to Nashville.
Starting point is 00:31:03 I was recording for like, you know, six or seven hours, which is like a work day, maybe eight or nine. But Carmela would come and visit me in the middle of the day. Like it was still not the hardest, you know. And now, though, that I'm really sort of working and like giving Carmela to someone else for like a whole day Or, like, doing press all day and then missing her bedtime is new for me. And that's happened a couple times. And, like, there is just no way around this feeling of anxiety and, like, heartbreak at the same time as being the most fulfilled I've ever been ever. So, like, I'm trying to get language around it.
Starting point is 00:31:38 Like, it's still really new. But I feel like that's just what motherhood is, like, forever. Yeah. And I've been talking to moms and that's what they say, that it just, you know, you have this sense of responsibility for this little life, which creates like this hum of sort of a little bit of anxiety within you forever. And it's also great because that is what makes you a good mom and like makes you care. Like this is what I'm trying to talk to my husband about because he's like, relax. I'm like, first of all, don't tell me to relax. I'm going to kill you.
Starting point is 00:32:11 Yeah, second of all, like, I will never relax in that, you know, so basically I even said to him, like, because now we're in L.A. and, you know, I'm visiting. We have an Airbnb because I didn't want to stay in a hotel because I want to cook for her. I brought 15 luggages and all this stuff. And literally, like, Carmela is thriving. I have all her favorite toys. I have her gates. I literally sent my manager 32 boxes from Amazon. And, like, I was able to pretend that we live in this house, right, which is also a blessing.
Starting point is 00:32:39 but I kept saying to Paul that's why I don't relax I've thought of everything that she could possibly need or want and that gives me a little peace but still I'm still anxious right now that I'm not with her or watching her
Starting point is 00:32:55 and then I'm really anxious when she's around because she walks and she's crazy and runs and we were at Disneyland yesterday and I was just like oh my god will I ever enjoy Disneyland again and then she looked at Mickey Mouse and kissed him and I was like, oh my god, I totally enjoy Disneyland. It's fine.
Starting point is 00:33:11 So I'm just like... Rollercoaster. It's just non-stop rollercoaster. She's so cute. Okay. Speaking of Disneyland, can we play a Disney game? Yes. Okay. Thank you for opening up about your second half. Now, if you want to know about Christina as a human being
Starting point is 00:33:28 pre-motherhood, you can go back to episode, like, six of Lady Gang. I know. That'll be, like, a good listen to that one. And then this one. We talked about our friendship and how we met and all of those good things and, like, played some scandalous games, but this was all about songs for Carmella.
Starting point is 00:33:41 I don't think so. I don't remember. I don't either. It was a while ago. We talked about the wedding. No, I think you were single. Okay. I think.
Starting point is 00:33:50 I don't know. I don't remember her. Just kidding. I totally remember her. Okay, so I'm going to do a little introduction to this segment because they are our sponsor
Starting point is 00:34:02 and then we're going to play a game. Okay. Okay, so as you heard, Christina loves Disney, which is why she's here. But we are sponsored by Disney because adults like to have fun at Disneyland, too. You'll never do that again. You'll only go with Carmella.
Starting point is 00:34:17 By the way, she had like a, what do you have, a fanny pack of Disney? It's too much. Anyway. We're so kicking it out of here. Okay. Well, Disney World can be just as fun for adults as it can for kids. From the excitement of after-hour events to cool drinking options, it's now the time to find your happy place this February at Epcot. You can experience the International Festival of the Arts featuring special galleries, artists, dining experiences, concerts, and hands-on activities.
Starting point is 00:34:41 Or you can go to Disney's Animal Kingdoms to celebrate the Lion King during the film's 25th anniversary. And there's, like, some fun photo ops you can do on a screen. You can also party with your Pixar pals during the 30th anniversary of Disney's Hollywood Studios or celebrate Mickey's 90th birthday at Mickey and Minnie's Surprise Celebration. And, Christina, we know that you love Disney just so much, so we wanted to play a game. It's called Don't Forget This Disney Duet. And basically, I am going to sing. Oh, no. So cruel.
Starting point is 00:35:11 I'm not going to sing, but I'm going to say. I'm going to dance, and you're going to sing. Great. Okay. I'm going to start the duet, and then I'm going to award the points to the person that can finish the line. I mean, obviously. I don't know. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:35:22 You gave birth to Disney. I did. I know. You literally were listening to these songs. All right. Okay. Game on. This is in honor of Christina, Disney being our sponsor, and Christina's new Lullaby
Starting point is 00:35:33 record, Songs for Carmella, which is available now. Okay, here we go. A whole new world, a new fantastic point of view. No one to tell us no or where to go or say we're only dreaming. Becca! We're really going to talk these? We're not going to sing them? I mean, you can sing them.
Starting point is 00:35:53 We probably get sued if we sing them. Oh, okay, okay. I don't know. I think if it's under I think if you sing it you can sing it if we well I'm not gonna sing
Starting point is 00:36:02 okay Jack will not be singing but she also doesn't know the answer tell us no oh god okay okay ready
Starting point is 00:36:10 I don't know the answers anyways next everybody look left everybody look right every um everywhere you look
Starting point is 00:36:20 I'm standing in spotlight now everybody I just can't wait to be king. This is the only song I know every word of. I'm giving it to Christina. There was a little bit of... Okay. Both a little scared.
Starting point is 00:36:40 Neither one prepared. Beauty and the Beast. Yes. Good job. That was easy. Guys, you did really good. Okay, this one's hard. Conceal.
Starting point is 00:36:50 Don't feel. Don't let them know. Well, now they know. Let it go. Let it go. Can't hold it back anymore. Let it go. Let it go.
Starting point is 00:37:04 Turn away because I die. Don't make me do it. Come on. Where I stand. Okay, Christina gets that one. And a bonus point for having a beautiful voice. Oh, thanks. That's not fair.
Starting point is 00:37:16 Thanks. Okay, next. This is the last one. This is actually the tiebreaker. Jack has zero. Hey, I started that first one. Yeah, she should have a point. I mean, a half.
Starting point is 00:37:26 Give me a half a point. She has a half a point. Jack has one half a point. Becca has two, and Christina's tied for two. Ooh. Watch out, gals. Here I come. Here we go.
Starting point is 00:37:38 You can't win this. This is worth double. Do I get to go to Disneyland? Yes. Look for the bare necessities. The simple bare necessities. and worry about your worries and your strife. Did you know it?
Starting point is 00:37:54 I did. You did know it. But she beat me by like a millisecond. Well, and a shock to no one. Christina won the Disney challenge. Deserved. Deserved. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:38:03 Congratulations. I feel so much cooler, guys. Thank you. Do you feel like your old self is back? I do. Oh, my gosh. How many times a year do you go to Disney? Well, when I lived in L.A., I went all the time.
Starting point is 00:38:15 Like almost every week? No, no, no. I went like every couple months. She's wearing a Disney studded earring right now. Are you? And I see your tattoo. Every couple months. Do you have a lot of Disney tattoos?
Starting point is 00:38:24 I don't, actually. I have a couple. I mean, I have the entire Millennium Falcon on my leg, which is now Disney, but Star Wars wasn't always Disney. I go all the time. I mean, now I don't. Now, like, I was counting down for this trip because, you know, we're living on the East Coast, and I miss it every day. I miss having a season pass and going whenever I wanted, you know, in my previous self. When's the best time to go?
Starting point is 00:38:49 You mean day of the week or month? Well, she goes fancy. She goes celebrity style. Do you always do the guide? I do, but you know what? Disney keeps gifting it to me. They're so amazing because I had a song in World of Color. And then if it's a special occasion.
Starting point is 00:39:03 It's not every time. It's funny because I never know when they're going to just offer to pay for it. But because it was Carmella's first birthday, they just treated us and we stayed. So I do the guide most every time, but sometimes I didn't. When I was living here, I would go down with my friends and just hit, like, you know, a nighttime spectacular or whatever. Just hit it. It's like the club.
Starting point is 00:39:25 Oh, my God. She just hit a nighttime. You know what, Christina? But I would say Thursdays are the best day of the week to go. Really? Thursdays and Mondays. I would think of Mondays. They're not paying us that much.
Starting point is 00:39:33 Here we go. We're moving on. I feel like people take off, like, for long weekends. I mean, I went yesterday and it was good. Really? It depends on the time of year. All right. Okay.
Starting point is 00:39:41 Listen, I needed this information, okay? Okay. Great, because you're going. Some people want to know. You're going in April, aren't you? Maybe. I mean, I have to change it. To Disneyland or Disney World?
Starting point is 00:39:50 I was supposed to go to Disney World in April. So we have a stupid TV show now. God damn it. Okay, when we come back, Christy is going to fix your life. And we're back. Okay, so since you're so much wiser now, are you ready to fix some girls' lives? Yes. All right.
Starting point is 00:40:12 Did you take names off of these now, Kelty? so we don't get anybody in trouble um some of them well if they don't have a name it's anonymous oh okay first question's anonymous and it's good i recently found out that my husband has a profile on ashley madison which is the website that you pay to have an affair yeah correct it's the tinder for affairs and he also has been paying for a porn subscription what which you don't have to pay for okay once i confronted him must be it must be old is it the disney vip once i confronted him he felt sick over it all he claims he never actually met with anyone in person and hasn't cheated on me but i can't stop thinking that what he did was worse i also don't
Starting point is 00:40:54 know if i believe him he says it all comes down to the lack of sex in our relationship i know that he's a very sexual person but due to recent events in our lives i am not we have a two-year-old and a four month old and have only been together for three years between 18 months of pregnancy and a year and a half of breastfeeding there have only been about five months of our relationship where i didn't have a baby hanging on me or hanging to me hanging out in me or hanging to me i don't feel sexy i'm exhausted and the sex is the last thing on my mind we both agreed to go to couples counseling but i've been too scared to talk to anyone close to me for fear of judgment so i came here i need some advice or insight from some outside source am i a total idiot do i need to
Starting point is 00:41:34 run or do i look inward and take all the blame he needs to go himself yeah that guy seriously four months um a four-month-old no no here's the thing here's the thing it's complicated when there's babies right so she said a two-year-old and a four-month-old um i think where there's smoke there's fire and i think that if he's got this whatever account that's active like sorry i think that they probably should talk to someone to feel as though they did that i feel like if you're gonna leave like you might as well feel like you tried especially for her a blame she should let go of ever saying again there's nothing that she should feel blame about especially because she has mothered those children
Starting point is 00:42:21 and if they're hanging on her and she's not boning this guy who cares because she's amazing like it's the hardest thing and best thing ever so she needs you know to know that and then maybe do her own therapy and maybe try therapy with him and then see
Starting point is 00:42:37 where they're at and if he keeps blaming her for shit then I would get the out of that I have had so many friends when second baby comes it gets really hard for the relationship. Well, I don't know anything about anything
Starting point is 00:42:50 that you're going through. The porn site doesn't bother me, though. No. If you're watching porn, Men are always watching porn all the time. I'm so happy for you
Starting point is 00:42:56 because then I get to go to bed. Well, also, so they've been together for three years. Only three years. And they've had- They've had babies the whole time.
Starting point is 00:43:05 So they basically had, like, three months of non-pregnant or baby relationship. That's brutal. Yeah. Brutal. So I think you're a champ. But-
Starting point is 00:43:15 But if you're not having sex with him he's gonna have sex with someone else or you know but that's not she doesn't have to you don't have to she could feel like shit and he that that shows such little respect from a man to be like well i need to be having sex it's like well you didn't have to birth yeah and take care of this kid either so it's like the lack of understanding of like a woman's role and i don't know it just pisses me off it pisses me off too that's just that's a type of dude honestly there are dudes that would never do that to women and then there are the dudes that would i feel like it comes down to you know bingo so true bingo you know he's not a greg he's not a great call
Starting point is 00:43:53 good guys get yourself a greg because we had like a lady gang number remember who's like greg would never do that greg wouldn't do that i know this is the thing when we fight with our husbands like at the end we're like we're like we know we hate him what a jerk and then we're just like but he's a good guy right he's right it always comes back to that and like the end of it they can drive you crazy but like there's a good guys and they're bad guys so really it really is very binary Yeah. And you know what? Last thing I'll say for this woman is to not feel bad about whether it works out or it doesn't because she got two amazing children and it's like, keep it moving. Yeah. Boom. Keep it moving, girl. Okay. Next question is, I recently got promoted at work into a leadership role that I am very excited about. I've always been very shy, not confident at all and kept to myself, but I have just recently come out of my shell. I'm the youngest. She's 22 out of the group of people who just got moved up. How can I stay grounded and not let the promotion get to my head while still being a boss bitch? Well, I like that that's what you're worried about.
Starting point is 00:44:57 I know. Yeah, I was just going to say. I've never worried about that in my life. Okay, here's the thing. The fact that you're worried about it means you don't have anything to be worried about. Exactly. If you're a naturally introverted, shy person, this confidence is what you need to just, probably for everybody else, just be normal level of excitement and confidence. It probably feels uncomfortable for you.
Starting point is 00:45:20 I will say that being the youngest, when I started working here at CBS, I was the youngest. Now I'm the oldest. And I know that people – it was hard to get the respect because people always were like, there's a way that we do things. It's the way that it's always been done. And you come in and you know about social media and apps and you're like real scary to people. So I think just – but just be – use all your brains and talents or you're going to be running that company, girl. We're so proud of you. Listen to Alexis' podcast, Alexis Woodall.
Starting point is 00:45:54 She was a couple weeks ago. But, like, she's the perfect example of someone who has extreme confidence in herself but, like, is self-aware enough to not be a dick because she's capable and you sound like you're capable. Congratulations. I know. Yay. Get it, girl. That was a great answer, guys. Okay.
Starting point is 00:46:12 Last question. I've been in a relationship with my boyfriend since high school. We've been together for five years and are both 21. We recently started doing long distance because he went to school in a different state. We took a week-long break during the holidays and got back together, but ever since I've had feelings – but ever since I've had different feelings towards him. We're becoming more of friends than partners. I don't want to break off the relationship and regret it, but these feelings of wanting to experience new people and places keeps coming up. I don't want to feel like I'm missing out, and I know we are both young and have many chances to meet new people, but I want to make sure that I'm making the right choice.
Starting point is 00:46:46 Please help. What's that quote from Johnny Depp? If you're in love with two people, you're not in love. Oh, because if you're actually in love, you you wouldn't think of the second person. I appreciate they were taking a relationship advice from tiny hands. Dad, he's got a good, good quote. I mean, it's an excellent quote. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:47:06 I don't know if he follows it, but it's great. I don't know even where that came from in my brain. But I remember that wrong. Yeah, maybe it wasn't. She knows Disney and dear Johnny Depp. Factoid Pirates of the Caribbean. just eat but I owe it
Starting point is 00:47:22 all ties together Jack Sparrow baby anyway I just feel like that's the answer I feel like if you are thinking even
Starting point is 00:47:30 about exploring or you know what I mean like that you already made up your mind and she's 21 they're both 21
Starting point is 00:47:36 you're so young you can always get back together if you're meant to be you'll find each other like you have to have sex with other people
Starting point is 00:47:44 you gotta you need a decade of strange dick you gotta have sex with dozens of other people strange dick 10 years of strange
Starting point is 00:47:51 dick please get it yeah i think i think it's never gonna feel like enough though because you're gonna hit 32 and get married and be like i didn't get enough dick i didn't have enough bad boys like making me have butterflies till six in the morning yeah i will say and i've christine i've been friends for so long that one of my biggest regrets at my 20s is i was trying to lock it down all of my 20s you were you were obsessed i was trying to have real big relationship I don't think anybody in their 20s needs to be in a relationship. No, I agree. Like, at the end of the day, you're better off being single through your entire 20s.
Starting point is 00:48:25 Although I did learn a lot about what I didn't want by dating. I was always in a relationship in my 20s, but I was in lots and lots and lots of them. You don't need to be in, like, a 10-year relationship in your 20s. No, no. Like, it's good to, like, date. A year and a half, it was max. I had a bunch of year and a half relationships. I had so many.
Starting point is 00:48:42 Nothing went past a year and a half. Yeah. I also had a four-month thing. it'd be either four months or a year and a half I wasn't sure which one I just wish that I'd been like I don't need one band guy I need all the band guys
Starting point is 00:48:55 I was trying so hard for just one well because you'd also have a prescription for Valtrex no I don't no you would oh I would maybe you do I was like what? this got weird anyway yeah
Starting point is 00:49:11 so don't lock it down don't do the band guys though wear condoms though Go travel and, like, have a relationship with someone that doesn't speak your language. I should have had an Italian love affair. What was I doing? Listen, there is nothing better than a vacation boyfriend, I have to say. I've had so many.
Starting point is 00:49:31 I had weird ones. Did you? I had a weird one, too. I had a couple weird ones. I always, I'm like, this is my guy. And then, like, I get home in a week and I'm like, wait, who is that guy again? When you're in it, you think it's like, this is my person. I met him skydiving in Hawaii
Starting point is 00:49:46 oh my god I'm gonna come home like he's 24 and he doesn't have a real job yeah be like us be just like us I mean I have very few regrets so no regrets born short Bruce
Starting point is 00:50:04 in Hawaii he's got your match I mean I'm pretty sure my husband would like to take away some of those encounters but it's fine it's too late too bad
Starting point is 00:50:12 Made me the woman I am today. Exactly. Still bad at blowjobs. You're never going to be a, I mean, you know. Well, before Christina's PR pulls her out of this room, we will wrap this up at. Bad blowjobs. Bad blowjobs. We're ending at a high note.
Starting point is 00:50:31 We're ending at a high note. Christina, I'm so proud of you for birthing a child into the world. Thank you. Crazy. Man, I can't believe you're a mom. I know. It's wild. it really is
Starting point is 00:50:42 it's hard for me I'm so bummed that I'm not in your journal club honestly it's really hard for me too you guys can go
Starting point is 00:50:53 get Songs for Carmella it is a beautiful beautiful lullaby record but it's also really good bullet journaling music so if you
Starting point is 00:51:01 don't have a baby and you just want to calm down at the end of the night yes because you didn't choose cheesy songs they're not like
Starting point is 00:51:07 thank you I didn't think no no they're actually not I mean, other than, like, You Are My Sunshine, they're just, like, covers of my favorite songs. But also, like, you singing those songs makes it cool. Thank you. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:51:18 Yeah. Exactly. So you guys can go pick that up on iTunes and Amazon right now. Or you can follow Christina at Christina Perry, who has a wonderful—congratulations. What? A million followers. Congratulations to you, 100K. Hey.
