It's time for a quickie.
Podcast one presents the Lady Gang, the Hollywood girl posse with Lady Gang Quickie.
Here's Kelty Knight, Becca Tobin and Jack Vanek.
Let's make this quick.
Now, if you listen to the Lady Gang, you know that we've had my friend Michael Yeo on many times and he is batshit crazy.
And he told all the insider stories about me.
And I said, Michael, we need a girl.
We need a girl.
I don't want, he's like, I want to go to Lady World.
I was like, no.
I want, who's you but better, but prettier, but a woman?
And he said, you have to meet my friend Gina.
So we stalked her online.
We saw her America's Got Talent many, many weeks.
We saw all of her shows.
We saw her stand-up specials.
And we were like, this bitch is us.
She's a mommy, mamacita.
And we are so excited to welcome her to Lady World today.
Ladies and gentlemen, please give it up for Gina Brio!
Girls, we run this mother...
Yeah! Let me hear you, lady world. Let me hear you.
Oh, that's a beautiful sound, everybody.
Everybody having a good time so far?
Oh, I love it. How many of y'all partied last night?
How many of y'all here to party again?
that's what i thought that's what i like to hear i've enjoyed my time here i'm here to share some
time with you i'm i'm excited i'm excited i love all this lady energy how many how many y'all are
here with your girlfriends am i here with your girlfriends yes i love a good group of girlfriends
girlfriends will hold you down right girlfriends will hold you down even even if something fell
apart and it's your fault your girls still got you right you could be crying over a breakup that
you caused. Right? You could be like, but I cheated on him. And your girls would be
like, nah, girl, he made you cheat. He shouldn't have put you in that position in the first
place. I love all this energy. I love all this mommy energy too. I'm married. Any married
people out there? Married people? Love it. Love it. Single people, where you at? Don't
worry, married people. They just got all that energy because they don't got a whole house
to hold down. I love you single people. Last time I did the single person shout out, I
was at a comedy club in New York City. I said, how many single people are here? And one person
wooed. And it was the saddest woo I've ever heard in my life. It was like she started
off hopeful and then just dissipated into sadness. I was like, any single people? She
went, whoo. This is hard. I feel for y'all single people. I'll be real with you. I would not want
to be single. I'm very glad to be married. But if you love being single, good for you. That means
you're probably good at it. You're probably good at being single. If you're a good single person,
that means you're a good flirt. How many good flirts do I have here? Anybody a good flirt out
here? Yeah. I'm not a good flirt. I am not a good, I'm an aggressive flirt. Do I have
aggressive flirts out there? Yes. I am an aggressive flirt. Everything in my energy
is very much, yo, you try to do this or nah, bro. I get it from being a New Yorker. I'm
a native New Yorker. We got East Coast people here? That's what I'm talking about, East
Coast people. I love, any New Yorkers here? Oh, snap. Gang, gang. I love it. I love being from
New York. Everywhere I go, when I travel and people find out I'm a New Yorker, they feel
compelled to tell me how they feel about New York. I don't ask. And they always say the same
things. They're always like, oh, New Yorkers are mean. That's their idea of New York. And I'm like,
we're not mean. We're aggressively kind and very misunderstood, right? I tell people you get lost
in New York. Who's the first person that's going to help you? A New Yorker. That's right. Cause
we can't stand lost looking people. The second we see them at the map, just looking at the subway
map, like, is it uptown? Is it downtown? What's Midtown? Literally the middle. It's not that hard.
and i feel like people jump the gun sometimes when they want to come to new york they don't
do their homework you got to know the city you're visiting you know what i'm saying every city has
rules right when people have a bad time in new york i'm like you didn't do your homework you
got to know some of the rules of new york city one of the cardinal rules of new york city
is mind your business it's true it should say that when you land in new york welcome to new
york mind your business that's what forget about it means it means forget what you just saw
Because what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas,
but what happens in New York never happened.
Why are you snitching?
That's our biggest thing.
I had to teach my husband this lesson.
My husband, I married a white boy from the Midwest.
Thank you so much.
Thank you.
I'm a Puerto Rican girl from the South Bronx.
Thank you, three people.
The rest of you are like, good for you for making it out.
I never thought, honestly,
I never thought I would marry a white dude from the Midwest.
I'm not even going to lie to you. I never thought that that would happen, but dreams do come true.
For him. I didn't think it could happen because honestly, first of all, I didn't think white men
were into curvy women. I'm going to be real with you. I did not think it was a thing, but I have
done the market research. Ladies, they are fans. They are fans. So I thank you for that. And I
didn't think he would get my aggressive vibe. I thought I would scare him off, but apparently he
was like, you know what? I'm scared. I'm gonna do what she says. And we ended up together, but New
York was an adjustment for him. New York was such a huge adjustment for him. And I didn't realize
that until like one day we were driving around the city. We're driving around Astoria, Queens,
a part of New York, nice part of New York. Yeah, we got some Queens people here. Nice part of New
York, right? And a fight broke out in the middle of the street. Two grown men started beating the
crap out of each other. And my sweet Midwestern husband went, oh no, I should do something.
And I said, if you don't roll up your window right now, I'll fist fight you myself.
What you going to do, Captain America? You going to fight two grown men? I was like,
you have psoriatic arthritis. Take a seat. Take a seat. I'm just looking out for you, baby,
because I know what's about to happen.
I'm about to watch you get jumped.
And I'm going to watch because I know how to mind my business.
You know what I'm saying?
Like, this is his lesson, not mine.
Which was crazy because we lived in Astoria at the time,
and that was not likely in Astoria.
It was such a peaceful, chill neighborhood.
In fact, the biggest beef, when we first got there,
the hottest beef on the block was a health food store
and a bagel shop that were beefing with each other
because the health food store started selling bagels.
That's what I said.
I said, stay in your lane.
Why are you selling bagels?
So the health food store put out a sign
that said, we have organic bagels.
So the bagel shop put out a sign
and their sign said,
there's no such thing as organic bagels.
I saw that.
I was like, the block is hot.
it's hot in these streets of Astoria
all in all my husband is still very impressed with New York City it is one of those cities
that people dream of going to right everywhere I go people like oh I want to go to New York
that's my city I want to go visit it and they always want their crazy New York story
that's the thing people travel to New York they want something crazy to happen I always say come
it'll happen we aim to please crazy stuff happens even to New Yorkers last time I was in New York
City, I'm headed to the train, and a homeless guy hit on me. Do you know what that does to your
self-esteem? Right? When a homeless man looks at you as an attainable goal. There was no fear in
his eyes. You know what I'm saying? He was like, hey, let me take you out sometime. I was like,
where? Just curious. A girl's got to keep her options open. I don't know how things are going
to work out. I had to tell him I was married. Like, that was the only reason we could never
be together. I'm married, but if I wasn't. Crazy stuff like that happens all the time in New York
City. You just got to adjust real quick. It is a great city to visit. But I will say this. If
you're visiting New York City, do us native New Yorkers a favor and don't complain about being in
the city while you're visiting New York. Because one, that's rude. That's rude. And the second
thing is, we know. We live there. We see it all the time. You should never complain about a city
that you don't know because you don't know if what you're complaining about is an improvement.
Let me explain, ladies. Let me explain. I was eavesdropping on a conversation.
I'm very nosy. I will admit that I grew up, like I said, I'm Puerto Rican. I grew up on
novelas. If you've never experienced novelas, you got to watch them. People try to say they're like
soap operas, they're so much better. Yeah, the drama never ends. No one ever really dies. Everyone's
got an evil twin. It's the craziest thing. I don't cry when people die on novellas because I'm like,
she's going to be back season three. They can't carry the story without her. So I'm a very nosy
person by nature. I just love to hear stories, which is why I could never be a therapist. I
realize this now. I would offer no help. I would just listen to stories all day long. All you would
hear from my office is, oh word, that's crazy. Nah, I don't know what you should do either. I
feel like we should call in another therapist. Help us both out with this problem right now.
So I'm, I'm eavesdropping on this conversation, but to be honest, these two women, they were
talking loud. And I feel like if you're talking loud, you want an audience. You know what I'm
saying? Right. Exactly. If you're talking loud enough, you clearly want an audience and you
know I'm a giver so I was in my humanitarian bag eavesdropping and they're just trashing New York
they're ripping it apart all the city and it's all stuff I've heard before the city is gross
people are rude blah blah blah but then they said something I never heard before one of them goes
and New York City smells like marijuana so I said it used to smell like pee
because they don't know they have no idea what it used to smell like right
and then i put out my joint because i felt personal that felt like a personal attack like
why are you why are you bringing that up now sis why that seems crazy
i am a weed smoker i don't know if there's any weed smokers out there
oh yeah there's usually a two second delay on that response i'm like any weed smokers are like
oh yeah yeah i love it hell yeah they need to smoke some sativa i'm telling you people get
weird about weed though they still get weird about it which is kind of so lame to me because
at this point it's no different than like taking a drink after work or taking some medication it's
literally so normalized right even my friends but one of my guy friends was like it's not very
ladylike that you smoke weed. Exactly. I was like, what? Well, because I had just smoked,
so I wasn't really listening when he was talking. And I'll be honest with you, even though that
bothers me when people get weird about it, what bothers me even more is when people find out that
I'm a mom and that I smoke weed, and then their brains cease to function. They don't know how to
deal with that, which is annoying because nobody says anything to wine moms. Yeah, you just let
them hoes live yeah you do they got a whole franchise oh it's wine o'clock somewhere
it's 7 a.m kimberly you have a drinking problem just because you embroider it on a bag doesn't
mean you're okay i can't show up with a satchel that says heroin o'clock
and you guys be like oh gina and her whimsical heroin problem
but let somebody find out that your mom that smokes weed oh they freak out you can see it
in their face they're just like what about your baby i'm like he's not smoking obviously
that would be crazy guys he's five years old obviously he would mess up the rotation so you
don't i'm joking i'm kidding obviously like i said he's five you would start with edibles
I'm joking
I feel like some of you know I'm joking
and some of you have CPS on speed dial
right now
you're like we gotta save that baby
he's fine
he's in the car right now
I'm kidding
I'm joking
I gave him a tablet he's fine
I feel like the younger people
laugh at that because they're like that's silly
and older people laugh at that because they're like we remember that

Remember how unsafe our childhoods were?
It's definitely different being a parent now in this climate, right?
How many parents do I have?
How many mommies do I have out there?
Mommies, there we go.
Man, hats off to you because this ain't easy.
Especially in this climate now because we're doing things so differently, right?
We're doing stuff now.
We're talking about stuff now that if you're from a certain generation,
you never even heard of these topics, right?
Like toxic parenting never came up when I was a kid.
Would have been helpful
I would have got my parents with that
I would have been like
That's toxic
I would have immediately been beaten
Let's just be honest
And I still would have stuck to it
I would have been like still toxic
You just proved my point
Especially depending on what culture
You come from
Culture
She's very touched by this
Culture plays
And mom's here she knows
I'm telling you, culture plays a big role in your trauma.
Like, I grew up in a Latin household, and nobody's cornered the market on toxic parenting quite like Latino parents.
I guarantee you, we put the tra in trauma.
That's us.
We break people.
Like, please understand.
Like, if you survived a Latin household, you deserve free therapy for the rest of your life.
Absolutely.
Free therapy. No questions asked. Because that means your biggest bullies were your relatives.
That's what that is. That's exactly what that means. I used to wake up to insults.
Just somebody coming in my room, levántate gorda. That means get up, fat girl. That's what that
means. I know. I would be like, damn, abuela. On the Lord's day. In front of hologram Jesus.
I had a picture of Jesus in my room growing up, and when the sun would come in, Jesus would be
like, hey. And then when the sun would go down, Jesus would be like, hey. That's two different
Jesuses. Jesus. Y'all know what I'm talking about. Very different now. Very, very different now. If
you're parenting now, you know all about it. You know all how different it is now. We're having
big conversations with our kids, right? We have big conversations about their big feelings.
We explain a lot more. That annoys a lot of the older generation. I know it does. It gets on their
nerves. They don't like us talking about our feelings. They don't like us talking about
our feelings or talking about anything because they'll be like, that's why y'all are soft.
That's why y'all are soft. That's what the older generation say. I was bullied and I turned out
fine. You're not fine. You're not. You're broken. You're broken. You're the reason we need to do
this. Like I had a big conversation with my son not too long ago. You have to understand my son's
five years old. All he wants to do is hug and kiss and love on people. He's the sweetest little
thing, right? Like he'll walk up to a stranger. He'll be like, I love you. I know. I'll be like,
Hey, cut that out, man. Like, why are you making it weird? It's because his daddy's from the
Midwest. That's that Midwest in him. I'm telling you, that's that Midwest. I'll be telling him,
I'm like, you are a New York baby.
I'm going to need you to say on sight.
Just say one on sight.
Give me one dead ass.
Just anything.
But nothing.
He's not a thug bone in his body.
So I just accepted.
I said, you know what?
I have a sweet baby.
He loves to be affectionate.
I'm going to enjoy it for as long as I can get that affection.
Because there may come a time where he's like, ew, mom, I don't want to be next to you.
So I wanted to love it.
I didn't think it was a problem until one day I was going to pick him up from daycare.
and my husband got there before me
and he said, we got to talk to him.
And I said, what happened?
Apparently he was going up to the girls in class.
He was going like this.
And you know, it was sweet and innocent.
You know what I'm saying?
He wasn't like, yo ma, let me holler at you a second.
Let me talk to you.
Although if he was, I'm not gonna lie.
I'd be upset, but there would be a part of me
that would be like, hey.
Like a little part of me would be like,
look at the confidence on that guy.
But I can't do that to women everywhere.
I'm a boy mom.
I have a duty to all the women out there to not raise a cat caller.
You know what I mean?
So I had to have a conversation with him.
But trying to explain consent to a five-year-old is like trying to explain it to a grown man, actually.
It's the same f***ing problem.
I love it when guys get upset at that when I say that.
Because if guys do get upset, I always say, you know, if you're offended by that, you are part of the problem, obviously.
But you have the right to be offended.
I can't control who gets offended at what, you know what I mean?
I can't control that at all.
And men are much more sensitive than we actually give them credit for.
We've all seen them cry over a sports team.
We might not be able to identify with it, but that's a real emotion, their feeling.
Like, I saw my husband crying in the kitchen one time, and I was like, what happened, buddy?
I didn't grow up with positive reinforcement, so anytime I try it, it's always like, I sound like a camp counselor.
Like, who hurt you, little man?
He's just in the kitchen like, the Knicks, I hate them so much.
I'm like, yeah, baby, they let us all down.
We just need y'all to translate that sensitivity into other parts of the relationship.
That's all that we need.
Just translate that into other parts of the relationship.
You know what I mean?
And I'm a big fan of dudes.
I married one.
Obviously, in a world where I had options.
I tried some options.
Still, big fan.
Big fan of dudes.
I think they're adorable.
You ever seen a man blush?
The cutest thing you'll ever see.
You make a man blush today.
Just go say something inappropriate.
They'll love it.
You could cat call a dude.
I swear he won't mind.
Just stand out there.
Later on tonight, just stand out there looking at the dudes that pass by.
Just, hey, baby.
What that thing do?
What it do?
What it do?
I swear to God, you will find at least one dude that's like, it does a little something, something.
Like, you'll find at least one guy that's like so proud to have had that moment.
I am glad I'm married though
I do love being married
I do love being married man
I married a good person
I did
I married a good dude man
He's not perfect
Nobody's perfect
I don't think you can expect perfection from a partner
I think that's the easiest way to ruin a relationship
Is to expect perfection
Find somebody you can grow with
And y'all be on the right path
Right
Find someone that you can grow with
That's willing to grow with you
Cause nobody's perfect
Like my husband's a talker
That's never said as a compliment.
That's always a warning, like, yo, he's a talker.
Go with God.
And no one ever believes me.
If you've ever been with a talker, nobody ever heeds that warning.
They always say the same thing.
Oh, it can't be that bad.
They don't understand.
He's the type of talker that doesn't need anybody else for the conversation.
I don't know if you ever met these marvelous people.
but you know how many times I've been at home
and I'm like, did I leave a podcast on?
Who is bringing up random topics?
And it's just him in the kitchen
talking physics for no reason.
Right, and I'm not perfect either.
I don't pretend to be perfect.
I'm the most imperfect person I know.
My biggest flaw to me
is that my mood depends on your tone.
Right?
Yeah, where's the rest of the toxicas?
All right.
We are a problem.
That is not an easy person to be around.
Not at all.
Not at all.
Because I'm the kind of person, when I hear something, if I hear a change in your tone,
my instant response is, what'd you say?
Very aggressive.
What'd you say?
And I think we've established as a society, when a woman says, what did you say?
She's not asking you to repeat what you just said.
She is literally giving you a chance to rethink what you just said.
That is an assist, gentlemen.
take it as such. And it's not fair. It's not a fair situation because that person, it doesn't
matter. If you're like that, it does not matter the situation. It's an instant response to the
change in tone. And I've done it to my husband where I've just been like, what'd you say? And
he's like, good morning. She's so scary when she's mad. He's a good guy. He's a patient guy.
He's cute too.
I ain't going to lie.
He's cute.
I married a cutie.
He's tall-ish.
I used to think he was tall.
And then my guy friends told me that men don't consider other men tall unless they're six feet or over.
And the only dudes that ever disagree are the 5'11 dudes that be like, I never heard that in my life.
And I know because my husband's 5'11.
But he's still taller than me, so it counts.
And he got a beard too, so he looks all lumber sexual.
you know what i'm talking about he looks like the type of dude that would like kick down the door
and then chop down a tree for you that's the type he looks like but in reality he would like kick
down your door and then sit and talk to you for six hours about trees you'd be like this fantasy
took a weird turn but i'm still gonna do it you know i'm glad like i think the last time i was
single, I was having such a rough time finding people that I actually connected to. And the
worst, the worst, the worst was I kept getting hit on by a bunch of skinny guys. And there's
nothing wrong with skinny men. Skinny men need love too. But if you're thick or tall
and you date a skinny man, please understand at some point during the course of your relationship,
he is going to look at you
like he wants to pick you up
don't do it
please don't fall for his confidence
because he's going to look at you
with all the confidence in the world
he's going to look at you like
yeah I'm going to pick you up
and you got to be like
nah that's not a good idea
I'm heavier than I look bro
you're going to hurt yourself
and my feelings
this will go so much better
if I pick you up
come here
look at how cute you are
You know, I'm glad I'm out, I'm out these streets.
I can't be out here confusing people with my flirting, aggressive style.
And I'll tell you, I'll be honest with you.
I was so nervous to get married because my husband wanted us to write our own vows because he has feelings.
He did.
His vows to me were a song.
I know.
Y'all reacted how he wished I reacted.
Because he said to me after our wedding, he was like, I thought you were going to cry when I did my vows.
I was like, I don't cry for no one, dog.
It was hard, too.
It was really difficult because I went to my friends, my friends and my siblings.
I talked to my siblings a lot before I got married because they had all been married a few times.
I like when y'all get the little things.
Like, it's quick, it's quick.
My twin sister, I have a twin sister. I'm an identical twin. We got some twins in here. Gang,
gang, twin gang. I love being a twin. I ain't gonna lie. I love being a twin, but I'm sure
y'all hate it too. Twin questions are the worst. And the most common one I get when I say I'm an
identical twin is without fail. Someone will go, do you guys look alike? Nothing gets past you,
huh we're very different personality wise like that happens with identical twins a lot we're
very different I'm very silly and playful my sister's dark and sarcastic and she has low
self-esteem which is weird because she has my face do you know what it's like when someone
calls you and it's that looks exactly like you it is like I feel so ugly this bitch
i'm so glad i'm having so much fun with y'all honestly this was this was so great
and i want to commend y'all on being a good audience yeah because a good audience makes
for a good show sometimes people don't get that like it's it's a two-part deal i have my part
you guys have your part your part's way easier all you have to do is have a good time that's
your only requirement as an audience that's it is to let loose and have a good time and some people
still fail miserably right we all know that one person who's a miserable human being no matter
where you bring them don't look at them if you're with them right now I literally saw a head start
to turn i'm like don't don't acknowledge it because the second you do they're gonna be like
that's why they want to come here in the first place miserable people never want to be where
they're at and they always end up at comedy shows and i figured out why why do miserable people
always end up at comedy shows it's because they have good friends because their friends want to
see them happy even though they know it's not gonna happen and i beg you good friends of miserable
people stop bringing them stop bringing them we can't fix it they don't want it fixed and comedy
is a weird thing to like bring a lot of people to like force somebody to come to because you got to
be pretty open-minded to to really enjoy comedy because comedy is subjective you don't know if
you're going to like the performer you don't know if you're going to like everything they say so
you got to be open-minded because comedians we're we're not okay I mean we most of us are using
humor to heal from trauma that's how it works so if you're not a person I think that's how the
audience works too like audiences that love comedy usually come from families that used humor to heal
from trauma that's what the connection is so if you're not a person who uses humor in that way
don't go to a place where a bunch of people who do are going to get into it because it's going to
get dark real quick it's going to get weird real quick because if you've ever used humor to heal
from trauma you realize nothing's off the table everything's up for jokes that second divorce you
got hilarious hilarious and even if you're just being silly sometimes people can't stand silly
I could do a knock knock joke right now and I bet you there's at least one person that
would be like I never had a door there's one person that would ruin the whole vibe with that
But y'all have been an amazing audience
I want to thank you so much
Enjoy the rest of the show
Good night everybody
