Starting point is 00:01:51 Oh, no. Good week, bad week. All right. Jack, am I starting? I like when you go first. Okay. I'm going to start with my good week. Ooh, yay.
Starting point is 00:02:03 Okay, you know how on BuzzFeed they have all those really weird quizzes, and it's like, let me guess what your favorite pizza is, by the way, that you sneeze, or such weird things? So I took one of them the other day, and it was, this shape test will determine what type of introvert you are. Ooh. And it was spot on. shape like shape like you there's different like there's a bunch six stars and you pick which star
Starting point is 00:02:26 you like the best and then there's six are you sure is there anything scientifically proven about this i'm sure it's not so what was your okay answer this is my this is the type of introvert i am i got type e particular because you're a very particular person you have your likes and dislikes and stick to them pretty rigidly there's no this is no different when it comes to people there are those who you like and trust most and you're willing to come out of your shell for them um but around the people you don't know very well or get a bad vibe from you're much more reserved and don't like to speak up and that's exactly how i am i'm like the most particular person in the entire world you are we saw that when you were single and dating
Starting point is 00:03:00 and that's kind of how i am with everything but i was like damn buzzfeed you really got it i'm gonna take it can you still take it yeah take it okay perfect i'll send it to you wow that week okay so my bad week i saw the most disturbing thing on the way to the gym the other day oh god And I don't know if it's, like, a bad omen or if I'm going to die in seven days or something, but I saw a dead rat, and its long tail was being stepped on by a baby shoe. What? No. And I have a picture. No.
Starting point is 00:03:32 Look at it. No. Oh, my God. Somebody – look at this. Oh, my God. That's so gross. Somebody must have placed this on the ground, and I don't know why, and I don't know why I saw it. But then I went to the gym and came back and everything was gone.
Starting point is 00:03:48 Ew. So someone took it away? I think it was like an art installation. I don't know. Ew, that's gross. Like where they hang like those weird stuffed animals on the phone lines. I don't know. It was really weird, but I was disturbed and I hope I don't die.
Starting point is 00:04:03 Well, this is kind of in line with my bad week, so I'm going to go next. Okay. Go ahead. Speaking of rodents and gross things. So I, not to offend anyone out there, but I really hate birds. like i the birds are offended i hate birds i don't i don't understand when people have birds i don't i don't get it they're little feet like if you show me a foot like a bird foot what is that called a claw whatever if you showed me that before every meal for the next week like i would
Starting point is 00:04:33 starve and lose so much weight i think i'm gonna make you nauseous it grosses me out beyond belief and also like pigeons in new york city you know some of them have like either like they have like genetic whatever because they're all like they're basically mutants you know when they have like deformed feet like yeah anyways that took me a minute to get it out i'm so disturbed so this is what happened i was in seattle for work and on one of the days it was really pretty out and so my boyfriend and i went to this park and it's really pretty and like people are doing yoga and you know seattle's filled with all those like very artsy in touch emotionally human beings yeah so there's this group of people doing like group yoga but like couples yoga where like the girls
Starting point is 00:05:18 are on the feet of the guys and like upside down which one thing that would never happen i would never let someone's feet be like on my shoulders oh my god i hate you um but that wasn't the worst part i look closer and i see that a girl that's part of the group has a pet bird and it's and it's like on a leash not on a leash it just sort of hangs out on her shoulder and it goes to other people's shoulders like captain morgan yeah like a parrot i don't know it's like a white bird and i don't know maybe i don't know it had crazy weird blue eyes anyways it just keeps like it stays in the group but then sometimes it'll fly up to a tree and come back so the wings weren't clipped so it's like a free bird but it keeps coming back to the owner it's bizarre and i'm
Starting point is 00:05:59 just thinking to myself it like it grosses me out so we get up and i forget about the bird the bird's name was peaches by the way i kept hearing her call the bird peaches that's dark so then my boyfriend and i were like okay let's go get like a drink at the bar or whatever and uh i stand up and my boyfriend is to the left side of me and all of a sudden i feel a claw oh no shut up on the right side of me and i thought instantly it was a homeless person because there's lots of them in seattle and i am a magnet for them and i thought it was like a crackhead and and and so i swat like this the back of my hand i bitch slapped peaches off my shoulder and the owner could not have been more pissed off and she glared at me and i just kept being like don't put your bird on my shoulder
Starting point is 00:06:43 and it flew so far to get on my shoulder and it squeal like when you hit it no i just hit it off and then i looked back and i i was like that is my worst nightmare i would have rather a crazy crackhead grab my shoulder and it's like why this bird must have known i hated it so much birds know that birds i don't think birds know shit they know you hate them i i hope i don't think a bird knows much because i think their brains are pretty small the term bird brain okay so that's my bad week here's my good week um in seattle i uh do this thing called we day it's like this awesome event where becca gives back i give back and i talk to students and and it's like all about bettering the world and i don't know why the hell they ask me to do it all the time but i love doing
Starting point is 00:07:26 it and um i got to introduce paula abdul oh my god she's forever my girl and she was so cute that afterwards after i introduced her i asked her wrangler type person i was like is this weird can i get a picture and i do not ask for pictures with anybody like anybody um and she's like oh my god of course and then paula comes up to me and like it's probably she's just being sweet but she acts like she wants a picture just as much as i do but i'm like inside i'm like no she doesn't well she beat me to instagramming the photo what paula instagrammed you and tagged me what yep so it wasn't me it wasn't an act i want to say this i think paula was excited to find someone else who was as little as her yeah you know what because you're twins we are twins you're tiny
Starting point is 00:08:16 side by side and i kept looking at her being like she's so small what is it like being so small that's me and then side by side in the picture we're like little the same size little people soulmates little pockets i saw the picture i was really proud of you right did you bust out any of your sick dance moves for i didn't i was so like i was so nervous i mean i grew up really idolizing her she's like everything and she's so cute and people always say she's so crazy but i've always found her to be just like cool as rocks she really is yeah very cool well i've never met All right, Kelty, beat that. Okay, so my good week is what, Jack?
Starting point is 00:08:54 You told me about it. I forget. What? Okay, I'm going to start with my bad week. I don't think I have a good week this week. I was trying to think about my good weeks, and it's, I don't know. It's been a bad week. Here's my good week.
Starting point is 00:09:08 I found out that I get to go for work to London and the Cannes slash Cannes Film Festival. Now, if someone out there officially knows if I'm supposed to say can or con, because it's French, so I think it's con, but then everyone says can, and then when you say con, they're like can, and when you say can, they're like con. Yeah, I never know how to. It's such a fancy film festival. Anyway, so I'm going to London, bye bitches, for a week, and then I'm going to two days in con to interview Julie Roberts and George Clooney, which I feel like could be a career highlight. and i'm already planning my outfits on rent the runway and i'm like gonna borrow some really expensive dresses that i can't afford in real life and just rent them gotta do like a budget girl anyway they need to be a sponsor i'm excited about that i know right yeah i love those girls
Starting point is 00:09:53 um okay here's my bad week this is so amazing so i had to work uh last saturday and um i was doing a red carpet and i got really dressed it was a fancy red carpet so i got all dressed up And I wore like a really sick high pony and a lot of makeup. And normally when I get home from work, I'm like, I'm exhausted. I'm going to wash this off and be in my sweatpants. But since you guys know, I'm spicing up my life. I was like, I'm going to make it a date night. I'm going to stay up past 7 p.m. and I'm going to go on a date.
Starting point is 00:10:24 So I went and got food with my husband and he came home later than me. So I was like at home and I put music on and I'm trying to like, A, stay awake. B, like get my vibes on. So then I planned like a really nice outfit. And so I was like, what am I going to wear on my sexy date night? So I had this sweater that my friend Christina gave me. It was like from Nasty Gal, I think. And it was like, you've probably seen it on the site.
Starting point is 00:10:44 It's like a white letterman sweater sort of and has a deep V. And it's black and white with a deep V. And then I wore black jeans and like black little heels. And then the pony. And I thought, oh, my God, I look really like sporty and cute. But it's like really low so you can kind of see the lacy bra underneath. And I was like, I'm just going to like lean over the table and be so sexy time. So then he arrives home and we're like, are you ready to go?
Starting point is 00:11:03 Great. I walk downstairs, and he goes, oh, you look like you could be in a barbershop quartet. Oh, my God. Like, thank you. It's so bad. Like, sometimes we get carried away with how we dress, and we're dressing for other women. And you'll put something on, and you're like, I look amazing. I look like every blogger that's just hitting it.
Starting point is 00:11:25 Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then men are just so – they look at you just so confused. Yeah, you're like in a costume. Yeah, if you put on, like, a wet seal dress from high school that's, like, body con, And you'll walk downstairs and they'll think that you look like a million bucks. Totally. And I was like, I kind of gave him crap. I was like, what?
Starting point is 00:11:39 And he's like, you know, and I was like, hold the phone. I have stayed up past 730 for you. And this is how you're going to repay me? Because I really am rarely, to be honest, in regular clothes around my husband. I'm usually in my sweatpants. Like, let's be straight. Our schedules are weird. And so the fact that I was wearing like A, an underwear, B, a bra, C, a heel.
Starting point is 00:11:57 I was like, can I get like a nice compliment? Anyway. Maybe he thought he was complimenting you. No, I totally bugged him so much about it. he feels so guilty. And I just text him while we're recording to be like, what, what sweater was I wearing when you told me that comment? He's, and he actually said to me by text, he said, um, that's not fair. Come on. I'm so sorry. It feels bad. I love you, darling. Just stop talking though. Just stop. You look so beautiful. You're hot. That's all you need. That's all you need.
Starting point is 00:12:26 No more. Did he get laid? Uh, I don't remember. Did you leave the sweater on? I don't remember. I don't think so. I think I fell asleep. You just went to bed. Jesus. All right. Well, that wraps up Good Week, Bad Week. Fun day night.
Starting point is 00:12:38 Coming up, we have the beautiful Holly Madison. P.S. She's a New York Times bestseller, and she's a lot of things to say. Okay. What's going on? Now, here's the Lady Gang. Welcome back to the Lady Gang. Oh, my goodness.
Starting point is 00:12:54 Our guest today is someone who actually, honestly, really surprised me when I first met her. you know everyone has this like sort of preconceived notion of the holly madison we worked together we became friends and she's actually you wouldn't believe it she's so gorgeous she crazy ass nerd in there like seriously she loves disney she likes to read she's incredibly generous um probably the coolest mom on the block mother to daughter rainbow expecting a very new addition to the family very soon she's a new york times best-selling author and has a brand new book that is going to be the beach read of the summer called The Vegas Diaries,
Starting point is 00:13:28 Romance, Rolling the Dice, and the Road to Reinvention. Welcome to the Lady Gang, Holly. Welcome. Thank you for having me, guys. I'm happy to be here. So you're rad. So let me just point something out really quickly. Is that I did not know you were pregnant.
Starting point is 00:13:44 Really? No. And then she just said that and I was super confused. How do you not look like a mutant? Because I have like this kind of bell dress hanging on. No, but like your face is still. I know you're so thin still. Oh, thank you.
Starting point is 00:13:55 You guys are so nice. I'm not pregnant puppy. You have a deep cheekbone, too. Thanks. Yeah. I don't know. I mean, it might all go downhill the next couple months. You never know.
Starting point is 00:14:03 But thank you. One day you wake up with a potato face. Jack, you don't have a potato face. I say I have a potato face, too. No way. I feel like the shape of my face has kind of changed over the years. And I have more on the side of my cheeks. And then when I don't have makeup on, I'm like, potato.
Starting point is 00:14:19 That's what I always say. I have a potato face. I'm not alone. You guys are weird. you're both people aren't there like really um what's it like to be able to walk around your life and be like hello i'm new york times best-selling author holly madison it's so fun the second it hit the list i went on my instagram and just changed my bio like that oh yeah finally i've done something of note i always wonder that it's always in people's bios if they're
Starting point is 00:14:44 best-selling new york times best-selling author it is always there oh yeah it has to be it's like winning a medal it's exciting yeah but no other people with awards or like accolades really say anything about him it's like you're like grammy award winner no i think because new york times bestseller it's not a super cocky thing yeah it's like look i'm just super intelligent and i can write people care about what i have to say i also think that it's it's something because there's no faking it like you have to remember the grammys are popularity contest the oscars are popular to combat to ask people campaign like to get on the bestseller list people legit have to like buy your book and buy your book yeah you gotta go and it's people that read actually like
Starting point is 00:15:23 you too so you got the smart people on your side um i want to know about the new book because the last book was a wave of a lot of press and a lot of stories and it was this big tell-all did you leave something out no this is about uh like my first three years in vegas which i kind of skimmed over in my first book. And this is about, you know, just me, you know, reinventing my life and kind of the fun times I had in Vegas, you know, life as a headliner on the strip and just learning to, you know, be successful and to be successful for myself, because, you know, I think so many of us go out there, me included, and you want to prove something to the world. You want to prove something to everybody who says you can't do it.
Starting point is 00:16:02 And then you start to ask yourself the real questions and like do the real work and like go over, you know, what does your past mean to you? And, you know, am I really making myself happy here. Were you making yourself happy? I mean, I had an amazing time and yes. And like, I checked everything off my goal list, but I think at the end of the day, like after I'd been out there for about three years, kind of doing what I love, I was like, you know what? I need to take a step back and just like, you know, look at what I want to do and not think about like impressing people for my past or impressing others. And it's interesting you say that because I sort of had that feeling when I read the first book that there was like this something to prove where you were
Starting point is 00:16:39 like i'm gonna prove to like guys in general like i can stand on my own two feet oh absolutely and i think a lot of women are like that like i know that i've been trying to prove up to all my ex boyfriends like look at me i'm awesome you know yeah and everybody else because you know women judge too and there's women around you who are like oh you know you had a rich boyfriend and what are you gonna do now fall on your face and it's like nope boom um i love the point the the title the road to reinvention and one of our favorite words here at the lady gang is relevant because people i don't know bad i hate that worst word on instagram where people are like she's just trying to stay relevant well it's the worst because it means something different to everyone
Starting point is 00:17:19 and i think there's a lot of people at home who think you're only relevant if you're on tv at the moment and it doesn't matter like how awful your show is or how bad it makes you look um you know people don't really give a lot of credit to you doing something that has meaning to you and they just want to see like a lot of flash and the, and it's just such a word that anybody can use whatever way they want to insult you and be like, well, you're not relevant because you're not doing this or you're not relevant because you're not doing that. And it's like, yeah, but I'm doing something else. That's way more important to me. So, right. And how hard is it to reinvent in Hollywood? Because I mean, you are the master at this. I think a lot of people for a long time
Starting point is 00:17:57 saw you as one thing and then you are now a multi hyphenate. Thanks. I think a lot of people still do see me as one thing and it's definitely a work in progress and it's hard because you know when you're first starting out and just going on random auditions you know it's hard but you still have that chance you could be somebody's discovery you know that casting director could look at you and be like oh i want this person i want to champion that person and push that person through but when you're already known for something and you know it's like reality tv or something cheesy like that everybody's like oh no we don't want her like right off the bat like they don't even want you to like come in and read for it or there's no we don't want her it's just like a preconceived
Starting point is 00:18:32 notion yeah absolutely yeah and that's hard that's hard what's the like most disappointing thing we always call it our hollywood heartbreak oh hollywood heartbreak oh i have a recent one it's holly actually listens to the lady gang so she knows can you tell do you have one what's i do it's kind of recent i was talking to um this manager who has friends with not somebody i work with and i said it was about a year ago and i'm like i really want to do this part in this musical can you like ask about it and he's like yeah i know just who to ask and he comes back and he goes you know they said you were too old for the part and i was like but it's like a it's a musical like nobody's gonna see my wrinkles from like the first row it's not it's not a movie or anything and then
Starting point is 00:19:15 he goes yeah but then they suggested you for this other part and the other part was so far off i don't want to say what show it was because i don't want to make like the casting person sound mean or whatever but the other part was so far off like nothing you'd ever cast me for and it was like the strongest voice in the show like this big soulful voice and I'm like nobody would ever think I could sing like that so I think maybe like when he said my name they didn't know who I was and like thought of somebody else but I was so horrified having been told I was too old and like so embarrassed about it I was just kind of like okay I mean that's a shitty thing to hear one of the hottest women in the world no matter what age I know you're sweet thank you yeah it
Starting point is 00:19:51 is crazy though it's interesting sometimes when I see like celebrities getting no's because you just assume at like some point when you know you're at a certain level of fame that every door would just open and they'd be like yes yes yes yes yeah when i would hear people talk about you know there's so much rejection in the industry i always thought that meant until you made it until you had your first big thing and then everything just kind of starts no there's probably more after yeah it's weird it keeps going yeah that's like an interesting thing to think about because i don't think anybody thinks like that it's like okay well you got this show or you got this whatever and now you're famous and you're fine for the rest of your life and it's probably the opposite of
Starting point is 00:20:24 trying to like stay up with it and then people don't want you because you were somebody else's thing or you were branded another network like i can't tell you how many times i hear um we love you on our network we love you but you're too e i'm like i haven't been on e in like three years right right it is it's like these wars um i want to know on the opposite side what's your ish like what's your moment where you're like i am the jam and everything's great um i think the first time i felt like that was when i got my first billboard on sunset boulevard and it was in 2009 and it was when i first started the show in vegas and it was an ad for planet hollywood but it had like my face and my name and a little thing about the show and back then there weren't like
Starting point is 00:21:04 vegas billboards in la so it wasn't anything i expected like now you drive down sunset boulevard or you're in hollywood and you see like all the billboards for all the djs playing this club and that club and um so it wasn't something i expected at all so it was a really really a treat and people would send me pictures and like oh my god i saw you on sunset boulevard and that was coming at a time in my life where everybody just thought you know i just left the mansion and everybody And he thought that I was either just going to come crawling back or going to fall flat on my face. But so it kind of felt good. Can I talk about the mansion really quickly? I was so unimpressed. You know what's funny? Have you seen that BuzzFeed article that somebody wrote? It was
Starting point is 00:21:39 a guy went up there and he's like taking pictures of like the tampons in the bathroom and the towels in the grotto. And he's like, am I crazy for thinking it would be a little more luxe than i know when did you go i went for a screening of something and it was just being held there and um so it's a small it was really small like intimate group and i was like i can't wait it's gonna be amazing and then you go and you're like it's like this very dated um not exciting i mean the only thing that excite that was exciting for me was all the animals outside that's the best part yeah but the rest of it it's like it needs a like it needs a facelift i couldn't agree more and i say that because it's not a secret you know even when i was on the tv show i'm like can we do
Starting point is 00:22:21 redecorate this room yeah come on you have the money like it's like a haunted house there's probably some weird ghost saying it out there oh 100 skeletons in the closet um holly life as a mama we are not mothers you are a mother you have pushed a child out of your i mean what is that really like oh my god what childbirth or the mother part i want to know both well childbirth for me was um disgustingly easy i had an epidural and only took two hours and i was like oh my god you're lucky yeah i always get the epidural did you get it in the very beginning i did i had to suffer a few contractions but i was like okay i'm ready because there's only a short window of time you can get it you have to be between a certain number of centimeters so
Starting point is 00:23:09 i would get it right away yeah i got it as soon as i could and the guy was taking his sweet time getting through i'm like where is this guy um we are you gonna do it again yeah easy breezy um and so what is your hoo-ha tear it did and it's so surreal to be like holding your baby and you look down and you see your doctor she's just going away with like the string oh hold on but i heard sometimes you can get it stitched up like tighter than it was before do you do that do you are you like tighten her up mama i didn't request that i've heard the thing now is like vaginal lasering after you've had a baby what does that do what's that i don't know i don't know too many details i'm intrigued your shit up i get laser hair removal on my vagina is
Starting point is 00:23:51 that the same thing i think hers interior oh i mean okay okay we'll try anything once i'll try anything um you know what has been the most surprising thing about being a mom and being a mom in this business? Um, I don't know about being a mom in the business so much, but I think one of the interesting things about kids that I would share with my friends who are about ready to get into it is like, and you know, knock on wood, I haven't had any major problems with my daughter. She's been healthy and everything's been great. But the thing I didn't expect was like every three months they changed so much and their needs and their routine changed so much. So right when you think you have it down and you're like, okay, I can get back to regular
Starting point is 00:24:27 scheduled programming. So I've got this on lock. They changed so much that you're like starting all over like even now my daughter's three so she's a little more self-sufficient but she just started preschool so that she's bringing home all the germs and like you know i have my nurse's hat on 24 7 so it's always something it's always like you're always juggling when it's a kid because they're changing it up i want to ask you something um we recently had dinner and i got to spend a little bit of time with rainbow and i was absolutely blown away by how like intelligent but just like how chill she was thank you i got really lucky with her she's really like i was what have you look what is your seat like what is the secret to this because rainbow literally sat down in
Starting point is 00:25:08 this restaurant and was just like she was just like eating her pita oh my god like a little mini adult and you'd be like rainbow what's going on she's like uh-huh and she'd like talk you know and was just like so chill like not running around not crazy not like everyone's kids like their energy is very much like theirs and you're very you have a very calm energy very calm and so is my husband. And so I think that's part of it, but also, um, I think just talking to her and engaging with her like an adult, not using baby talk and things like that. Like she loves to be in the mix and she loves to talk to my friends and she, you know, she wants to be that adult and that person who's like doing everything. It's like a little mini adult. She's really the
Starting point is 00:25:46 sweetest. Um, so are you terrified to have two? Because one is like, you got, you got this on lock but when they're going different directions yeah i think it'll depend um on this next baby's temperament he could either be just like rainbow or he could be the opposite because sometimes you know friends of mine who have kids they'll see rainbow and they'll be like oh well you know the second one is never just like the first one and i'm like oh thanks for the scare tactic stick it to you but i hear mixed things like some people will be like having two is just like having one because when you feed one breakfast you're feeding the other one breakfast and they play with each other blah blah blah and then when i announced this pregnancy i got a text from because usually
Starting point is 00:26:22 the good news i hear is usually from dads who and dads sometimes aren't not always but sometimes they aren't like the primary caretaker so they're like oh having two is easy right and then um i heard from a friend of mine who's a single dad and he has two kids he texted me the day i announced my pregnancy and he goes two is just like three and i'm like oh god like i'm done now you really just slayed the norths and blues of the world when baby rainbow was named yeah like just the greatest baby name of all time do you have it i mean that's so dope that i like want to steal it but like then you'll know yeah that's the kind of you can have it i think she needs a few other people in the world with that do you have a crazy like are you are you a crazy namer or are you
Starting point is 00:27:06 gonna let it like just george no i am a crazy namer but my crazy name got vetoed this time uh can we yeah i'll tell you what it is because i'm not gonna use it but like i'm not really that into boy names like i never was that girl who was like oh if i had a boy i would name him this that and this like there's always a million girl names i liked but never with a boy and uh with this boy i really wanted to name him dragon and my husband oh that's so dope like you have no choice but to be a badass unless okay because i love the name wolfgang and it's so weird like that but i'm like You're either going to be a badass or you're going to be a really big nerd. But either way, it's like kind of cool.
Starting point is 00:27:45 Dragon is dope. I want that name so bad. And I got vetoed. Oh, wow. But you know what? On Chris's hockey team, there's like three kids. And one of them is like Cougar, Wolf, and... Yeah, Wolf.
Starting point is 00:27:57 Wolf is cool. I'm cool. Wolfie. Yeah, Wolfie. That's pretty cool. Do you have another name? Did you figure out another name after Dragon? I mean, we have a couple we're thinking of that are still kind of secret.
Starting point is 00:28:07 But, I mean, I'm okay with him, but I'm not as enthused because Dragon would have really made me really happy. Dragon is so dope. That is so cool. Becca, you don't like it. No, of course I don't. Your kid, I mean, your kid has to be cool. I know.
Starting point is 00:28:22 I mean, he has to, like, stick up for himself. Like, I'm giving him a project with that name. I know. That's like an impossible feat. He's going to get beat up. No way, because Rainbow is a really cool girl. It's different with girls, though. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:33 It's very different. You know what I've noticed, though? people in la like rainbow's name other places they give me the look yeah or i'll hear from like hater trolls from the midwest who like want to ring me through the mud and well they probably think you're this like hit me dippy like rainbow's the dopest name ever i love it um holly do you have a mirror message i don't have a mirror message that i actually have on my mirror one time i dated a guy who had like a whole page of mirror messages on the mirror and i was like what i kind of felt sorry for was it a red flag stuff yeah some of the stuff he wrote like i'm like i'm
Starting point is 00:29:03 really glad you're working on that but i think maybe wait he was writing these down himself for himself yeah he had because usually people like cut him out or like use a card no it was like his bad handwriting like a lot wait what were some of them yeah i don't remember specifically but they were deep enough that i thought you know what i don't think you're ready for anything serious right now you've got a lot to work on yourself what bathroom were they in were they in like a main bathroom or like a bedroom no like his bedroom bathroom i know but take him down when of girls coming over yeah right weird I mean at least he had no shame I guess but it was a lot being open and honest I would have listened to Kelty over there I mean I don't know so that
Starting point is 00:29:45 means like when someone comes to my house why when they read my more messages are they like if you're dating somebody new I mean you I it's okay for a girl but not for a guy is that what we're saying no it's not okay for a girl even but it's tolerable that I saw from the guy first of it was a lot and i forget exactly what they were but they were things that are like i don't know if this guy's okay with himself like insecurity driven he had some demons yeah he needed some time to work just really wearing your heart on your sleeve you know a little bit um i wanted to ask you before we move on you know uh you seem to have this like fantastical marriage and relationship what is it about him like what's what's the secret sauce because we have so many
Starting point is 00:30:26 women listening and they're like am i in love is this the person for me should i stay with this person you know and what is your advice now that you found the one how do you know I don't know if there really is advice because I feel like I just kind of got lucky and met somebody that I clicked with and who was also in the right um place at the right time too because a guy I feel like kind of has to be ready to settle down you know who dropped this knowledge on me and I feel like sometimes it can be pretty true it was iced tea like him and Coco were sitting there and he's like telling the story about how they met and he goes you know for a woman if it's the right man it's the right time because you meet the right guy you're like i'm ready okay maybe this is a thing
Starting point is 00:31:04 and he goes but for a man when it's the right time it's the right woman and i'm like i yeah i think that's true a lot of times i mean obviously it's not true 100 i think it's true a lot of times like guys have to have their stuff together they have to have all their like dating and craziness out of their system and they have to really want to take that next step and i think a lot of times that happens before they meet you and they at least have to have that little seed of like being ready for it i totally heard of that oh dropping the wisdom bomb i know that was no that was like ice tea's wisdom though which i think is i mean you should put that in your mirror i know taking love advice from ice tea they've been married a long time it's the best advice i've ever gotten
Starting point is 00:31:43 and watching their show i was kind of like they make so much sense and it's so weird like watching their dynamic it really was so cute and they seemed like they had it their baby is so cute because i follow her on instagram and the baby like she's a girl but she looks like him and she has kind of this like wise look on her face like it's like a baby who like is looking out at you through instagram and like i know what's up you just have to look at this baby so cute what's her name coco no that's the wife iced tea oh sorry didn't she name her something oh chanel yeah yeah i love that okay we're gonna be right back with our like a lady question of the week you're listening to the lady gang all right our like a lady
Starting point is 00:32:31 question of the week this is very interesting what is the most painful thing you've ever endured to be attractive to your lover to your lover or just in general i think just in general i've never been with someone that's like you have to do this or i'm not and i would never do that yeah i'd be go find somebody that looks like that i guess i think oh god i mean so many things well like waxing your vagina waxes yes really bad every time i'm laying there sweating on the table with my leg spread and enduring like so much pain i'm just thinking why do i have to do this like there has to be a better way and laser was even worse no it's not yes it was like a staple gun on my vagina laser is like a walk in the park i don't know who you are anyways that to me not
Starting point is 00:33:20 that i i mean i would choose that over having pubic hair but it still is so i don't get it is excruciating i can't think of yours too yeah that's why it's not yours doesn't it hurt i mean it definitely hurts i don't know so i had this friend who told me um about this like new sexual position that so the guy's on the bottom and then you're supposed to be on the top and you're supposed to like be like a fish with your knees like a spread like a frog frog frog legs yeah and then you tuck your little feet in behind their like thighs so you're kind of like did you try that i do well i tried it and it was super painful on your knees on your whole hip knee body sexual yeah you just tuck your little feet underneath it yeah i do that no it wasn't
Starting point is 00:34:09 painful no have you done it no have you done it i don't know if my feet have been exactly like that but kind of yeah it didn't hurt i feel like that's the comfortable way in general is painful oh i like it my hips don't lie my hips don't lie okay holly are you a laser what's your most painful thing you've ever done to be attracted to a lover be attractive well when i was listening to your answers i totally got off track and i wasn't thinking about you know stuff i've done for a lover but i was just thinking about like beauty things yeah so i want to tell the story about when i got my nose done and they pack your nose oh shit or something that's gotta be it while you're healing and they go to take it out and it feels like like remember poltergeist when he drinks
Starting point is 00:34:51 the tequila worm and the tequila worm like comes out and it's huge it feels like they're pulling your brains out through your nose and it feels like it's coming from up here and it's the weirdest feeling don't they do like isn't it like a gel thing that they put up your nostril or at least that's what i thought it was like i mean maybe different doctors use different things but mine was like a cotton tissue type thing tequila worm that was coming out well i think it was worth it because you were just talking to kelty a minute ago and i was like she has a really good nose your nose thank you when did you get it done oh my gosh it was like 12 years ago i think yeah it's a good nose i regret it because i'm really thinking about getting liposuction in
Starting point is 00:35:26 my double chin what we should all do that as a lady gang thing a lady gang group like option because i feel like i have like a non-invasive thing i don't believe in that though i feel like have you seen the liquid nose job they do like dude yeah which is so different to me because the liquid nose jobs like people are getting kind of things added to their nose and that's so different because like back when i was getting a nose job it was all about getting the smaller nose yeah well it's not even that it's for people that have like the bump or the bumper if it's like a really swoop swoopy kind of thing they fill in like the yeah that's not there and make it looks amazing the kardashian doctor does it uh the kardashian doctor i'm
Starting point is 00:36:03 obsessed with his instagram what is this who is he it's like dr simon i don't know how to he works at beyond in beverly hills or that's the spot yeah and i'm so obsessed with his instagram and i didn't follow it because i'm like i don't want people to think i'm going to him and getting a bunch of stuff done yeah but i'm like all the time because it's fascinating and it shows like him giving people butt injections yeah yeah and then sometimes i've seen people that like i know or like new from a past life so to speak and i see them getting stuff done and i'm like but i'm also like i don't know anyway what that's all back to me for a second on my chin i think i'm gonna give it to myself as a 35th birthday present because it bothers me when i
Starting point is 00:36:44 see it and i don't want to do any of the injectables or that like cool sculpting where they you maybe it'll work like i want you to go in cut that shit off and sew me up suck out the that. Thank you. Quick fix. Quick fix. Okay. When we come back, New York Times bestselling author, Holly Madison is going to stick around and help us answer our lady gang questions. Ask the lady gang. Okay. So since you've listened to our podcast, you know the drill. So for the last section of the podcast, all of our users write in their questions and we're going to try to give them advice on how to live their lives do you think we give good advice yeah totally totally hold on can i interrupt for a second i want to tell everyone to go on over to
Starting point is 00:37:33 our instagram because we have something exciting with holly and i don't want if people turn this off during the questions yeah they're gonna be i want them to know so we're doing a giveaway with her new book of her new book um the vegas diaries is we're going to give away an autograph copy to one lucky Lady Gang member. So head on over to our Instagram and you're going to have to use the directions on the Instagram and win a copy. Thank you for donating that to our Lady Gang members.
Starting point is 00:38:01 Okay, continue. Okay, before we start, if you guys want to go to jackfanik.com, you can get 20% off using the code Lady Gang. And I brought you some things. Oh, thank you, little mug. Okay, so our first question comes from Jane Doe, a little anonymous question.
Starting point is 00:38:17 She says, I work in a small office of about four people. I'm sort of friendly with one of my coworkers, but she's a total asshole. Asshole meaning she always asks me for advice on things but never really listens or takes what I say into consideration. I don't know if she just does this for the conversation, but I'm tired of her coming up to me and complaining about her problems and asking me for help. When someone comes to me for advice, I take it to heart and I really think and give the person my best input. But I feel like she's wasting my time, and I don't know how to say – I don't know how to shoo her away. Like I said, it's a small office, so I can't really ignore her. Help me.
Starting point is 00:38:52 I think she should kind of joke around next time and be like, hey, you never take my advice. What's up with that? You know, just kind of say it, like, jokingly and see how she responds and then take it from there. There's nothing worse than somebody that asks for advice and then doesn't take it. Yeah. That's, like, my biggest pet peeve in the entire world. What's that, guys? if if if i had to choose between getting my vagina laser hair removal and being in a friendship or
Starting point is 00:39:17 relationship with someone who consistently is like disappointed in their life and it's like i don't know why this is happening i don't know why this guy's such a jerk to me i don't know why this job thing isn't happening and then i tell them the advice because i'm always that like tough love friend which is like some people really hate me for it but i'm like well you know he is this and you've been dating for 11 years and he consistently cheats on you so i don't know why you keep inviting him into your life yeah i i can't it's the worst i've had some friends like that and i'm just like i don't i'm gonna say the same advice to you and you're gonna do the same thing that you've always done and maybe that's how you answer it maybe that's how i answer it you just like
Starting point is 00:39:55 holly was saying just kind of joke around about it whatever a lot of the time too it's like a kind of a narcissistic quality for people to always be asking. Cause they also just really want to hear from you what they want to hear. So if you're giving good advice, nine times out of 10, it's not what they want to hear. No, they want to hear the easy thing or they want to hear. And that's why they're asking in the first place. So it's like, you know, a lot of the time people, you can placate people to get them to shut up and just tell them what, you know, they're going to do. And, and just like, that's what I've started doing with some of these people in my life. And it's like they're not going to take my advice this saves my energy and my frustration so i'm like oh
Starting point is 00:40:31 should you call that guy that didn't show up to your house till 3 a.m that night after you had a date set for 7 p.m sure why not just have fun like even though i in my mind i'm like absolutely you're like a moron but just i know you're gonna do it so just go sure have fun yeah so when i get advice from you i'm so i don't know what the answer is well you're not one of those people though it could be good it could be bad who knows i am i it's like the girlfriends that ask you advice and you're like well you're dating dicks and you're an idiot like yeah you wonder why the same thing keeps happening to you this conversation got really off the topic of the question but no but anyways those kind of people are annoying that's the answer yep okay our next question
Starting point is 00:41:08 is from kelly on email she says i'm 30 and i've been married for over five years my husband and i do not have kids the good thing is that we are both on the same page and that we know we don't want to have kids right now if ever i feel pressured though especially for my mom to have kids like right now is it wrong that we may never want to have kids i feel like in our society people value other people more when they have kids but those who don't have kids are looked at like there's something wrong with them what do you guys think absolutely nothing wrong i think having a kid is such a huge commitment and i think if you're not 100 into it the world is overpopulated don't do it like just live your life and have fun yeah god bless you like that if you have
Starting point is 00:41:47 reservations about it and you don't think you're going to be a good parent then don't bring that child into this world yeah and if you freak out later in life and you're too old to have a kid adopt one make a good home but did people's opinion of you change once you're a mother um i mean i don't know like if it if my if people's opinion changed about me because i'm a mom that's not really an opinion i value i guess and people get more judgmental too like if you go out and live your life people like you took your kid to a festival you suck you know they can judge you for your choices as a mother. Totally. Yeah. It's a whole other world. Yeah. I think there's definitely something there's the weirdest thing to me has always been in my business is that I've
Starting point is 00:42:28 been told repeatedly, you know, um, you can never get this job until you're a mother because of course. And you know, not like moms who watch TV or they want to see other mothers. Like you're very inaccessible to women if you're not a mother. But then I look at like Oprah and I'm like, Oprah's not a mother and she's like probably the most famous, relatable, authentic host out there. And so, you know, it's, it's just an interesting thing. Like, you know, everyone's dealing with their own thing, but it's so interesting. Like I know Maria, I've read interviews with Maria Menounos before and she was like, you
Starting point is 00:43:05 know, I've been trying to have kids, but you can kind of like tell that maybe she doesn't, I don't know. Like, I don't know what her deal is, but it's like, it's just an interesting thing of like, you can only get this job or be relatable to people if you're a mother. So weird. no you've never felt that no i'm not really in that line of work but right it's like it's yeah there's certain places where mother like you can't be on the hills and be a mother yeah but like for some things like people you know they want to know that you've like been through the
Starting point is 00:43:32 ringer and i get that well also just like in real life i feel like if you're at a certain age and you're married it's like you'll maybe be looked at by other people like why do you have kids have you you have everything else together like why where the where the kids at and it's just There is an insane amount of pressure. I get it probably every day. You don't have to have kids if you don't want to. It's your decision, and nobody should be – Because misery wants company.
Starting point is 00:43:53 Yeah. I'm just kidding. No, I will say, though, about my friends who decided not to have children. You have to be pretty strategic once you make that decision to make friends that also don't have children. I mean, you can be friends with whoever you want to be friends with, but I think I see a lot of them get a little heartbroken when their friends that were so close to them before having children no longer choose them over their family, and that's understandable but I think it's a little heartbreaking for that person yeah so
Starting point is 00:44:20 it's like find some people who do you hang out with only friends that have kids like how does that work has it shifted it's so weird I don't know why I was thinking of this on the way over here but I have like one friend who has kids I don't really hang out with other moms and I think part of that is sometimes you go to like Gymboree and other moms get so weird with other moms with that like whole competitive energy and I just take myself out of that a hundred percent so most of my friends don't have kids yeah i have an idea you should make a show called mom wars and it's literally just like mom's acting crazy momzillas yeah i think the mom hate can be real oh yeah oh yeah well you know what a couple years ago when i was pregnant with my first child a lot of people
Starting point is 00:45:00 were trying to get a show like that together they want they wanted like women who were in show business and now they're moms they wanted like the real housewives version of that and several different producers approached me with that same idea and nobody really did it but that that was like a thing that was out there for a while i don't know if they never got the right there's something on bravo right now about moms something mommy group looks pretty like famous moms no just like everyday moms but like it yeah it goes into like the nitty-gritty of like being a mom and all that stuff i don't know why anyone would want to watch that on television okay our last question comes from clara on email and she says i spend a lot of time with my sister's
Starting point is 00:45:41 family her her husband and her two kids they're my best friends and my sisters and i have always been really close i see her husband sometimes more than i see her but it's only because i babysit for them a lot and i see him in passing not because we ever hang out she is so insecure that she has said to him that she thinks i'm going to take her place in her family and one day her husband will come home and find me cooking dinner and she'll just be gone her and i both know that that's it he and i both know that that's insane she makes implications at me all the time about it and it makes me so upset i hate that she thinks so little of me and thinks that i would do something so wrong please help me how often is she hanging out did she specify no but i think
Starting point is 00:46:18 she i guess she just sees the husband a lot because she's babysitting their kids and now her sister is jealous oh the sister needs to be thankful for having a babysitter first of all sounds like your sister needs a little therapy i mean or are you doing something are you wearing skimpy clothes when you're going over there are you like i don't know this is tricky yeah i don't know i mean i think that maybe there's an insecurity going on in their relationship or else she wouldn't be insecure about that how many times you think this happens like like this has gotta happen right with the sister siblings yeah good they don't have sisters i bet it happens a lot just with extended family in general because i
Starting point is 00:46:59 remember when i had my first daughter i kind of felt i felt like when my in-laws came over to visit the baby which of course i appreciate the fact that they're coming to spend time with her but there was a part of me when she was really new that felt like they were trying to like take her away from me and i'm like no i need to be there for all these milestones it's just like a weird hormonal thing i don't know how new of a mom that person is but yeah i'm sure that there's like a you're just like trying to take control of everything and maybe something is out of your control and it's i don't know maybe we should call dr laura i think i think you have to like i don't know i mean maybe she's being crazy but at the same time like
Starting point is 00:47:37 i i don't know it sounds like there might be something going on on your end too not that you're like sleeping with a husband or anything but like i just think that you know there's there's all there's always two sides and so maybe there is something that you're doing like maybe you should just talk to your sister and be like, yo, there's nothing going on, but I hate that I'm making you feel this way. What is it that like is unnerving you and getting under your skin? And I'll stop doing that. So if it's like, is it late at night? Are you wearing certain clothes or like you sending fun text messages and they're like, Oh, Sandy just sent me this. Like, don't do that to my husband. Like, I don't know. Yeah. I don't know. Yeah. And like have that sit down
Starting point is 00:48:14 conversation with the sister. And if it's that big of a deal, you can stop spending as much time with them. If it really makes that much of a difference. Oh Lord. See what you get into when You have the Babes' Hall. Whole other thing. Oh, God. Okay, well, first of all, thanks for coming. Thanks for having me. Thank you.
