Starting point is 00:00:00 Do amazing with Total Wireless. Get an unlimited talk, text, and data plan for $25 per month. One gig at high speed, then 2G. Total Wireless, do amazing. A month equals 30 days. Terms and conditions at TotalWireless.com. Well, what is this? Welcome to the Lady Gang. That's amazing. Say that again. The Lady Gang. Things are about to change around here. Each week we catch up with Hollywood's hottest girl posse, Kelty Knight, Becca Tobin, and Jack Vanek. Hello, hello, hello. Welcome to the Lady Gang. I am Becca Tobin here with Jack Vanek and Kelty Knight. Hello. Where are you going, Kelty? Oh, she's sleeping. She's gone. It's time for Good Week. Yes, it is. Bad Week. Oh, no. So Good Week, Bad Week. I have been talking about this,
Starting point is 00:00:52 but now I'm ready to tell you the whole story. So I had to have this dental surgery because I had to get new teeth. Um, and that seems so aggressive. Okay. So my good week is I'm getting new teeth. My bad week is everything that has led up to this moment. And I just have had such an intense teeth journey that when I sat down with the guy to like design my new teeth. So basically my teeth are rotten. We all know that I'm a rotten person and I've had, why are your teeth so rotten? Did you not brush them as a child? I know this is why I'm telling you the story. So I basically, um, no, it's not that I it's genetic. It's just bad teeth genetically. But then my teeth never like group finished growing. So they were like baby. I had baby
Starting point is 00:01:36 teeth until I was 18, like actual like teeth from my, when I was two in my mouth, any teeth until you're 18. I lost my center too. And then the ones on the side were babies. so then they started trying to they thought it was because there wasn't enough room in my mouth so in fifth grade I had this like thing that like spread my mouth apart that was very painful yeah I had that palette expander right palette so they're like if you get more room in your palette maybe your teeth your adult teeth will start to come down but they never came down so then they'd wire my jaw shut and try to like drag them down with wires it's been like this whole journey and anyway so over the past you know 20 years that I've had two different sets of veneers and then
Starting point is 00:02:13 like five front teeth, they've continued to sort of patchwork my mouth together because I never wanted to like do the whole mouth again because I'm like terrified of it. So I go in for my like screening with the guy that's designing the teeth. And he was like, why the hell are your teeth so big? Like literally what he said to me. And he was like, this tooth right here, like on the side of your mouth, he's like, that is meant like in a perfect tooth, like to be half the size of your front tooth and it's bigger than your front tooth. Like who made these awful teeth for you? And also like, why did they make them so fat? Were they trying to fill space? And then I was telling this whole background anyway. So it's always like, you know, when you go to a new
Starting point is 00:02:50 hairdresser and they're like, who did this color? It's not always the person before they always hate. So I took that with like a grain of salt, but then I got really depressed thinking about it because now I'm in my gorgeous teeth era of my life, but I've like, I've passed my red carpet era. So I'm like so bummed that the two did not meet. I could have been like, I don't know. I could have been on the cover of InStyle. I could have been. Let me just make you feel a little better. Um, I don't think it makes that big of a difference. I don't think anybody has been noticing your teeth enough to put you on the cover of a magazine. They're like, she's beautiful, but her teeth are too big.
Starting point is 00:03:36 Unless it was like Dental Today magazine or something. And it was like hot or not list. I know a lot. Sliding doors, you don't know. No, I know a lot of actresses who have started their careers with their real teeth and then have gradually gotten veneers. And they're beautiful veneers.
Starting point is 00:03:54 They're amazing veneers, but nobody really even notices in when they're in like closeup shots in HD. So nobody's gonna notice on a red carpet with like a shitty camera from far away that you have different teeth. The only time people notice different teeth is if you have a mangled mouth of teeth and then you get beautiful veneers. Not if you have like an 80% good veneer and then you get a 95% good veneer. Yeah, it's true. It's like the little things that nobody notices, like a little pimple on your face. Yeah. Okay. And well, so
Starting point is 00:04:24 that's like my good week, bad week. My bad, like bad, bad week is that when I was doing this surgery, they gave me, um, well, you're, you're going to talk about it. Becca, is it going to be your bad week? Your Percocet? Yeah. For her. I mean, it wasn't going to be, but I, I will give you the impression of it when you, after you tell the story. Okay. So this'll be like a collaborative bad week, but basically they gave me Percocet, which I've only ever taken before when I had my car accident and surgeries. And it's a pretty like intense pain pillar. And it's also, um, one of those opioids that people get addicted to really easily um and i can totally see why like i found myself being in pain you feel incredible yeah incredible i was like why have
Starting point is 00:05:05 i been taking prozac for 10 years honestly all i need is a percocet at night and like everything's great except that everything's great in my mind yeah i'm outwardly it's not coming out great my work is shit. I've agreed to things like I went and got a COVID test. And then like two days later, they're like, how was the COVID test? I was like, I didn't get it. I fully went there and got the test. Like anyway, so this leads me to Becca, take it away. So I'm on the treadmill. Was I on the treadmill? No, no, no. I was driving to work and I was listening to some of the lady gang episode with June Diana, June Diane Raphael, because I love her so much and I don't normally listen back. I that's just I don't I don't want to listen to myself ever. So it's painful. But
Starting point is 00:05:56 I wanted to hear her episode and see how it turned out. And it gets to an ad and we separate the ads every week. So as you know, sometimes Kelty, Jack, me, whatever. Kelty was doing the black owned business that we do the ad read once a month. And all of a sudden it goes from poppy, energetic, ha ha ha. We're all laughing. June's a comedian, blah, blah, blah to this. You guys, I am here to tell you about our back on business for the month. seasonal pages i love it so much when i boot you and it is magical stickers no and it wasn't even that it was also like i think in your mind you were trying to sound a little bit sexual like i was i assure you i was not trying to sound sexual at all well it comes
Starting point is 00:06:56 the level in which I almost swerved my car off the road because I thought something, I had no idea. So then I pull over to the side of the road. I think I was actually late to my COVID test this day because I text everyone and I go, this is crazy. She sounds like Anna Nicole Smith. My boo-joo. My boo-joo. She called it a boo-joo and didn't even go back to correct herself. And the worst part is, is that Alex, our producer, she flagged this in a meeting and she was like, Hey, the ad sounds weird. And I was like, no, no, it's fine. It's fine. And I don't remember approving it because I was on Percocet. Don't ask Kelty ever, ever, ever.
Starting point is 00:07:40 Kelty should never make any decision ever, even when she's sober, not even sober. What's your good week? My good week is that wasn't my bad week, if you can believe it. Cause it was actually bad. Good. It was enjoyable. I love when these things happen. It truly is a good week, even though it's bad. It is. My good week is that I've been watching a new show, not new, but a new show for me that Zach likes to watch too, which is a very, it will never be, it's not, is never, it is never going to be 90 Day Fiance, Jack. It is Afterlife with Ricky Gervais. It is on Netflix. They've done one season i think season two is coming out soon it is so good and i cried and i laughed i've
Starting point is 00:08:30 only watched i think three episodes so far he's a he's just a genius i mean his uh his speech was it the oscars that he hosted what does he host one of no idea i don't know where everybody hated him what i mean it was the most and i think it was only last year where he was calling everybody out, making some Epstein references. He doesn't give a fuck and I love it. No fucks. He's like, I am above this. The show is so fantastic. And I just love when I find shows like this. So if anybody's bored, cause we're still whoop, whoop in quarantine, uh, it's called afterlife. It's on Netflix. My bad week is staring right at your faces. It's this pimple on my forehead. This one I see. It's a bad one. So I got to Vancouver and I could not believe how clear
Starting point is 00:09:22 my skin has been because I'm somebody who's a little bit, not acne prone, but I get breakouts here and there. And it was so clear here. And I think the theory is, is because it's so polluted in California, the air quality sucks so bad and here it's clean and whatever. So I've had the clearest skin I've ever had in my whole life since being up here. The one day that I had to shoot three pretty big scenes was yesterday. And I did everything to try to get this mother. Do you get the shot at the dermatologist? I didn't have enough time to get it shot. And also when you get it shot, sometimes it gets an indent and I was worried that's harder to cover than zit the zit sticker i have mixed feelings about zit stickers in general i think they do work to
Starting point is 00:10:17 flatten it but i just am so annoyed with this zit and it's just the only thing i'm gonna be able to see when i don't actually watch this show back because i don't normally watch anything i do but it was so annoying oh it's like your big moment that's it's worse than kelty's teeth what about you jack okay so my good week is there is a new viral sensation going on tiktok and it is the one thing that has made me pick up a pan and turn my stove on and this is a wrap hack like you know like a sandwich wrap there's a new hack that you do where you put the tortilla down put it in fourths put ingredients in each of the fourths and fold it over so each bite has a perfect amount of ingredient in it. Cause you know, when you eat a wrap and then
Starting point is 00:11:09 it's like all lettuce or it's all mayonnaise. This is amazing. I pressed it on my pan with my spatula. I turned the stove on. I am now a chef. Wow. Jack. I know the hack works though. Doesn't it? Oh my God. It's incredible. I don't know why nobody's ever thought of it before. TikTok is really coming up. The only thing good that they're doing maybe is these life hacks. I know because I keep watching it and keep meaning to buy wraps at the grocery store only because of this TikTok. It's so versatile. You could have them forever. Jared made a breakfast wrap last night. It's just possibilities are endless. So that's my good week, my bad week. So the bachelor is on and Matt, the new bachelor is probably the best bachelor that we've ever had.
Starting point is 00:11:53 He's so hot. He's so tall. He's so nice and charismatic and wonderful. He has one major flaw. he makes out with his eyes open oh my god open wait wait full make out full make out eyes open what do you mean eyes open looking at the girl it's like a hat it's like a like a half it's not like when your dog is sleeping but its eyes are open like the house and but you know what it might be because i don't think he realizes that they're open but they just are. And I tried to do it with Jared, just to see how it feels to do. And it is the most unnatural, uncomfortable thing to do ever. So I'm very concerned about him and I hope he's okay. That's a bummer. It's, it's weird. And I want to know from that Matt rest, good luck.

Starting point is 00:15:57 spotify podcast one or wherever you listen to your podcasts now back to the lady gang Our guest today is actually making me sad that this is a podcast because I really want you to see her face because she's that stunning. She's a TV host, content producer, and model who's worked with insane top-level brands and a former Miss Teen USA with a love for all things beauty, fashion, and pop culture. But like our Jack Vanek, she's always had a side of her that's been an investigator. And now she is putting her own FBI skills to the test while working alongside neve shulman as the co-host of mtv's hit series catfish the tv show please welcome to the lady gang cammy crawford oh my god what an introduction to make me so happy thank you and i went down
Starting point is 00:16:43 such a face i went down such a hole researching you and i've like now watched you get all your crowns and like cried along with you i watched what's your state again sorry your state and watched you in miss maryland and then i was like oh my god and then like the glow up between Miss Teen Maryland and Miss Teen USA was like oh the team is in action um they had put her in the team they were like here's all your resources because you're gonna win and then the winning and then the dress and I went down like such a thing I have so many questions it's a scary pageantry is a scary dark hole so I'm sorry that you had to go through that because it's chaotic but yeah that was a time I don't want to like harp on pageants obviously there's
Starting point is 00:17:30 a long time ago but i we were talking about you before and we're like it's so interesting because you know i do feel like there are so few black women that go through the pageant system and so what was that like for you um i mean it must have just it's like we don't have enough time to cover this right you're like this is a spin-off series that is but like you must be especially proud or you know you are a game changer which is incredible thank you thank you i i definitely received that because you know at the time when I competed um at Miss Teen USA it was like a known thing like an underlying just known thing that only two black girls will ever compete on the national level and there are some states that have never even crowned a black winner period
Starting point is 00:18:15 like and you know nobody calls them out for it but it was just kind of known that you know there's only going to be two and then from those two out of 51 states because it includes the District of columbia only one will advance and if you're the one congratulations but like you're probably not going to get that far so when i competed in 2010 which wasn't i mean it feels like forever ago but it's like not that long ago to be thinking like oh there's no black contestants that are advancing it was myself maryland and south carolina and it creates this kind of like weird tension but between the two of you because it's like you know it's only going to be one of you that's crazy yeah it's really really wild but we ended up one day just like looking at each other in like the
Starting point is 00:19:06 lunchroom and we were like let's just let's just chill like let's just have fun together and we became really close friends we're still friends to this day um but exactly that happened I advanced and she didn't and she absolutely should have advanced and didn't but she ended up going on and winning Miss South Carolina USA and then making top five in Miss USA so she's she's good she's also married and has a giant rock so she's she's good but she's chilling yeah she's cool but it's just like that kind of weird thing it creates um just you know a certain an added level of stress and competition between black women especially or just like women of color in general in pageantry that shouldn't be there and doesn't need to be there because we're all
Starting point is 00:19:54 qualified to be where we're at but it's like did she do five more appearances than me or did did she like win an extra special achievement award in the ninth grade like those are the things that kind of set you ahead and it's it's up I've I've tried to talk about it um within the organization multiple times and like things have gotten better over the years my mom was actually a pageant director and she ended up changing the game like for black girls in pageantry just overall um she had two back-to-back black winners from the same state as Miss USA and that's like unprecedented even though that's like a trigger word right now um it's like not something that happens and you know black girls still she's not a director anymore but black girls across the
Starting point is 00:20:43 the nation still thank her for you know just showing the pageant community that like we are worthy of being in those positions and um yeah it's it's it's still there's still so much more that needs to be done with body diversity with color diversity there's there's so much more that needs to be done I don't I don't know I honestly don't know that pageantry will last long enough to be able to achieve the things that it actually needs to because it's taken so long for it to even get to this point so who knows well yeah you took your you know your tiny little half a seat at the table that you were given and it was a baby seat it was a baby you had a toddler ikea table and there was just two spots and then that table was underneath the regular table that just had 10
Starting point is 00:21:35 Yeah. And so you took that tiny little baby seat and you have parlayed it into a successful career in Hollywood and catfish. So this is like the show, um, you took over from the old host and have brought such a spin. And when I posted in the Facebook group that, um, we were having one of the people on and we wanted to hear the, our Facebook group stories, everyone was like, oh my God, I'm obsessed with cat me. So you have like major fans out there. Uh, I want to know the craziest, like what's the story. Cause I saw on your Instagram, you were like, you will not believe it. Like, what is the go-to story? I just, sorry. I can't believe that with all of the knowledge that people have to search out their own catfish shit, that it's still happening. And
Starting point is 00:22:16 it's crazier than ever. Like it blows my mind. It's so crazy. You think you're making it up. Like I watch and I'm like, these have got to be paid actors. Like there's no way. Imagine having my job and I meet people every day and they're like, is it real? That's the first question they asked me. And I'm like, why don't you ask the therapist that I desperately we need to seek out because it is it's very real but isn't the reason that it's the this it remains a mystery because even though technology has advanced where we can google things and find things out the people performing the catfishing can also use technology on their side right so it just gets more and more deep yeah like hackers it never ends it's like a so exciting some kind of
Starting point is 00:23:00 like alternate universe like a what's that hole in inception where it's just like he kept going and going yes yeah yeah the beyond like that's catfish that's how it that's catfish um i absolutely love the show and i loved the show before i became the co-host of it and i remember seeing like the press release about max leaving the show and i was like well who's gonna replace him like nobody's gonna replace max and then i was like i am oh maybe that's maybe that's supposed to be my job because at the time they were just bringing people on as guest hosts it wasn't like you know for sure that it was supposed to be for like a final position as a co-host um but as far as like craziest episodes go we have an episode airing that is by far the most disturbing episode I think
Starting point is 00:23:49 I've ever seen Nev agrees it's the most disturbing he's ever seen it's it made me sick to my stomach and it still makes me sick to my stomach thinking about it so and i've seen a lot of shit can you give us can you give us a tea when this airs it will have already aired you can talk about it tell us about it okay great okay so um basically this guy had been on um like xbox and he you know he was like 15 or 16 at the time he's in his mid-20s now um and he was playing on xbox and he met this girl through like the chats that you can do on xbox and they ended up taking their relationship off of xbox and started texting back and forth and you know having really great communication um he fell in love with her she fell in love with him they would talk on the phone like
Starting point is 00:24:37 they were very much invested but they're like teenagers and it was like she was slightly older than him i think by like three years i think she was like 18 and he was like 15 so you're like you're talking to a hot like 18 year old girl and he was very into it um but their relationship was super tumultuous she was always like causing drama they were always getting into fights she would like bring other guys into the xbox chat room to like make him jealous and you know 15 16 like you're at a really vulnerable time in your life and he was just going through a lot like at home um and he was investing all of his time into this girl and so much so that like him and his mom were getting into fights he dropped out of school he tried to get a job after he dropped out of high
Starting point is 00:25:23 school and he had to quit that job because all he wanted to do was talk to this girl um it was chaotic and it caused him like a lot of anger issues a lot of anxiety issues but he still wanted to talk to her she was sending him nudes like it was the same girl in the pictures that she was sending him that he was getting the nudes from come to find out they obviously break up after a while he moves on he's engaged now and his fiance is actually the one who wrote into us because she's like i can't walk down the aisle with this man because he's still talking about this bitch that he talked to when he was 15 16 because he hasn't gotten closure about the whole situation so we do the research we find the girl she just got married she's like moved on with her
Starting point is 00:26:10 life she's you know a grown-ass woman she's got a husband she like literally just got married a few months ago oh no trust me you guys are all looking at me like just waiting it's so much worse than you can even imagine i'm so scared we finally get the real girl on zoom and she's like hold on one second like someone else is supposed to be here but they're not on you know we're like what the her mom comes on and her mom is in her 60s and basically reveals to us that she is the one who when she was in her late 40s was on xbox talking to this 15 then became 16 year old boy and had been for years but the statute of limitations are done and the age of consent in his state is 16 so there's no legal action to pursue but for me who was in the nudes
Starting point is 00:27:10 her daughter it was her daughter how'd she get the it was her daughter her daughter had a boyfriend at the time and when the daughter was sleeping she would go through and take her and send them and it wasn't just that boy it was other boys oh around the same age oh my god and the daughter goes you know i started to get suspicious when my mom was like you look really pretty katie let me take a picture of you because she was taking in-person photos of her daughter to use oh i mean that is sick and was the mom on so have the mom the mom was on the mom is on okay you know what Go back and watch it on demand. That's all. Go back and watch it on demand, everyone. Wait, I just have a question. There is, there is no legal, like, things that could be taken at all.
Starting point is 00:27:58 No. Oh, my. So imagine, like, in my position, because, I mean, I don't have any younger brothers, but I have five younger sisters. And, like, my mom and I have a really close relationship. And I'm just like. And she's like, you look so cute, girl. Can I take a picture of you? And you're like. there is no way in hell. Like there's no way in your mind where you think that that's okay. And I like, this is my job to try to get the story from this woman, but all I can tell her is how disgusted I am with her. And that I, I don't feel bad for her because she's crying and you know, it's a whole thing. You have to watch it. I can't wait to watch. I have to go back and watch.
Starting point is 00:28:34 All right. So Jack Vanek has a catfish story that she's never told before and we've saved it. I guess five years later where all of a sudden she texts me she's like hey I could tell my catfish story I was like we have talked about our bums and vaginas for five years straight like how did this not come out but yay here we go I forgot about it for the most part and I think I like pushed into the back of my mind because it was very embarrassing right so this happened when I was in my mid-20s it's kind of when tinder was first making its rounds right so I matched with this really really hot guy on tinder we have like amazing banter we were talking back and forth he was super funny he was so hot we're talking for like a few weeks and so he only had a few pictures
Starting point is 00:29:20 on his tinder like you know on a tinder you can usually have like a plethora of pictures he had like three pictures but he was very hot he um didn't have any social media red flag he wouldn't tell me his last name red flag didn't tell me where he worked and then what was the other thing that was uh and he wouldn't send me any pictures of his face i wrote this down because it was so long ago so anytime i was like oh hey here i am like mirror selfie and i'm like send me a like a picture of your face of what you're doing and he never would he'd make him an excuse so we're like excuse like just so this is the thing he said that he had a very he was like a ceo executive of a very um big corporation but wouldn't tell me which corporation right so it was like this
Starting point is 00:30:05 kind of excuses he was traveling everywhere for work his tinder was always the location was changing everywhere first he was like in LA then he was 2,000 miles away and I asked him what he was doing and he said he was at a meeting at Forbes and then he was 4,000 miles away and he said he was in Singapore for work was it Elon Musk right I wish this guy's name was Matt right so Matt Matt something or other but he was really funny I loved talking to him so I just like kept kind of oh the last red flag his texts were green so oh no no no so we're talking talking and finally I'm like just what's your last name like just tell me your last name and he finally tells me his last name he's like it's Kennedy and I'm like oh my god like is he part of the Kennedy
Starting point is 00:30:48 family and that's why he can't you know he can't really say anything so I believed he was part of the Kennedy family for a good couple more weeks while we were talking until I finally was like okay, Jack, you need to maybe do the things, maybe Google the number, maybe reverse image searches pictures. And I finally did. And his Google or his number was a Google voice note number or whatever, which is a fake number that people use. Then I go to reverse image searches pictures. And it turns out the pictures that he was using was this really hot guy that owned a bar in San Francisco. So I'm like, okay, not him, but I'm like, maybe this will be one of those fairy tale kind of things where i search the new guy and then the new guy's single and then we can
Starting point is 00:31:32 fall in love oh my god i know a peep i know people who got married from that happening i think you told me that story of somebody that did yeah so i'm like maybe this can be me so then i i search the guy on facebook i try to see what he's up to he's gay so no the good ones always are so that was the end i you know you always know that there's something fishy but i like i i really wanted to believe that i was going to be marrying into the kennedy family yeah so i just went along with it for as long as i possibly could jack this is your second offense as a catfish victim you thought aaron carter was talking to you for a while you thought aaron carter and you were friends yep yes well this is back in the day remember like aol chat rooms back in the day
Starting point is 00:32:14 oh yeah uh-huh so i was in an aol chat room and somehow got aaron carter and justin timberlake and britney spears's aim screen names and was talking to them um and aaron carter uh he really he really fooled me i thought i thought i was talking to him and he said he would send me a signal on tv one time when he was like on some morning show and uh he sent me well he was like he's like i'll touch my nose or something and then obviously when aaron carter was on some tv show he touched his nose and i thought he was saying he loved me yeah wow we're so embarrassed thanks for coming to the lady gang we understand that you're gonna block this uh number um no i just want to know did you ever call matt out or no yeah i called him out and then he blocked me
Starting point is 00:33:01 you know of course as they do okay so i mean his number was fake anyways so right matt kennedy matt kennedy he sounds hot yeah he was hot he's matt kennedy is great in bed yeah for sure um what are some red flags because it is shocking and surprising that jack is not alone in this we still see it on our facebook group all the time um tell me uh some of the red flags that we need to be watching out for i mean jack definitely just named some of them i don't want to call out android users do your thing you know great camera quality but when the texts are green you gotta you gotta ask some questions like things are things could be going things are remiss behind the scenes and honestly like i said no shit to android users but maybe if you have
Starting point is 00:33:51 an android that could be one of the red flags that could be a red flag to me i mean i think there is a red flag personally i think so because you just like you're so hard-headed you just don't want to go with like the flow of what everybody else is doing right these are the times get with it um so green text bubbles for sure is that's that's a thing um I've noticed and I don't know like as far as the listeners here I think it's more of like a more mature um audience they've been getting catfished by thinking that they're talking to like military men in like Nigeria and Iran and that's like the new wave of scamming so these guys will be like I'm stationed in you know Nigeria and I can't get a phone like I need to buy one but I my money's tied up it's like they
Starting point is 00:34:40 have a whole story and these older women in like their 50s are getting catfished by these guys and sending money to like military men overseas it's not real it's not a thing but I can't tell you how many emails I've gotten from people like their children who are like my mom is clearly getting catfished and she's not listening to me like she thinks she's talking to this guy that's stationed than kazakhstan so it's that that's not a thing um if you think you're talking to somebody in the military i'm sure that there are plenty of ways to like verify someone's identity like online and you know there's there's there are search engines for everything now um facetiming like nobody doesn't have a working front camera so if they tell you that their camera's broke is it
Starting point is 00:35:26 broken on the front and the back because oh my camera has both i don't know about everybody else but my phone has a front camera and a back camera so if the front camera is broken use the back camera like you gotta press for that especially like during quarantine i know a lot of my friends have been dating like bumble and tinder they all have like where you can do virtual dates or whatever and i've also had friends who are supposed to go on these virtual dates and the guy doesn't show up and he's like oh it wasn't a good time and like well can we FaceTime and they're like no and it's it I've had a few friends get catfished during quarantine alone by people not getting on video chat so I feel like I give people a little bit of grace because you know
Starting point is 00:36:09 there's a lot going on right now even though there's nothing going on people have like you know a lot going on mentally so I would give them two weeks max to get on video chat like that's that is more than enough time in my opinion like there's no way you're busy that entire time another like trigger word that's being used by a lot of the people that we've been meeting is like oh i'm an emt i'm an emt that's why i can't yeah yeah so they're always because so they're always on call yeah exactly always on call can't make it because they're saving lives really exploiting that is so dark well listen we have two really good catfishes that were submitted into the facebook group and i want to read them just so we can all enjoy them the lady gang
Starting point is 00:36:59 community okay here we go this is number one i didn't take whose name it was but i'm embarrassed for you in high school one of my guy friends created a fake girl profile to try to show me that my then boyfriend would cheat on me so i would break up with him does this make sense yeah the boyfriend's oldest time yeah the boyfriend most definitely was inappropriate with this girl and sent her all kinds of sexual messages and pictures then the girl messaged me and said something like hey i was talking to your boyfriend i thought you might want to see the convo and included screenshots of every conversation they had i was so hurt and immediately called my friend the catfisher and asked if i could come over to tell him what happened i poured my heart into him
Starting point is 00:37:36 and that's when he told me it was him all along and revealed his whole plan to get me to leave my boyfriend high school sucks wow i mean was he in love with her he must have been in love with her yeah that's a movie that's a great movie i mean it's a good movie this has happened on the show before and i'm just like what do you think you're gonna get out of this because at this point now i've lost like trust my boyfriend but also like my best friend like because now i can't with you anymore that's over yeah there's no way you can or maybe it's the ultimate as jennifer Lopez and Matthew McConaughey. Maybe they were men destined to me and they just realized it. I'm just saying. Okay. Here's the second one. Maybe it's the most romantic gesture of all time.
Starting point is 00:38:17 Saving him from a bad guy because actually he finds out later that she was cheating with other girls. I mean, he technically didn't do anything wrong. Oh my God. Jack Vanak. Well, I can't wait to hit up Jared on Instagram. Can I borrow some pictures of yourself? For sure, for sure. Like, hey, I think you're getting really serious with Jack and living with her, but you should- Maybe some nudes, maybe some nudes. I've got a two bedroom apartment you could move into
Starting point is 00:38:46 if you're available. No, no, no, that's the case. All right, here's the last one. In high school, one of my friends catfished a boy they liked through AIM world. It was actually someone that I had dated previously by pretending to be her cousin. They talked for months
Starting point is 00:38:59 and when they're supposed to finally meet up, my friend contacted the boy as herself to say her cousin died in a car crash. They always die. And the boy was pretty shaken up about it afterwards. He never found out the truth early. I haven't talked to either of them in more than 10 years, but my bestie and I still bring this up from time to time when talking about high school. Yikes. I mean, there's, yeah, it has to be a death or it's not believable, right? There is always a death or a tragedy in the family, a car accident, medical emergency. Um, there's always something, a fire. There's
Starting point is 00:39:31 always a fire. It's true. That's the name of your memoir. There's always a fire. A memoir by Cammie Grover. Yes. Yes. I love it. This is what I deal with. Cammie is a no bullshit kind of lady. When we come back, she's going to fix your life. So as many of you know, Jared and I froze our embryos last year. Starting point is 00:43:06 we have our listeners write in and ask questions, not catfish related, but just about life and love and everything in between and we give them sometimes bad advice sometimes good advice so we're going to ask you for some advice for our girls ready love advice okay so our first question comes from tori she says my partner and i have been together since april of 2019 and everything is amazing besides for one issue his always there's a fire i'm just kidding he's traveling for work oh because we're based in kentucky he's gone from new york city to seattle to san francisco all in the matter of a week. To add, he spent more time traveling in a year than he has at home.
Starting point is 00:43:43 I genuinely didn't mind at first. I liked having time alone and I didn't need my partner 24-7. However, because our time apart has increased, it's getting to me really bad. Am I crazy for feeling this way? I want to be supportive and helpful, but if he plans to be away for another 300 days this year, how are we supposed to grow together? Damn. Is it legitimately 300 days or we just you know that was my first question a little dramatic yeah that's a lot that is a lot like I I know travel is always you know in in my relationship at least it has been not an issue but it's it's honestly something that's brought us closer together because Gordon and I often travel to the same random places just like by chance um like one time I think he had to be in like
Starting point is 00:44:31 indiana and we were filming catfish in indiana at the same time so we're like oh like it's amazing yeah you know so indiana yeah exactly exactly obviously like we're in a pandemic it's a little hard to be like why not just go meet up with him but like if he's traveling and you're okay with traveling too why not go to one of those places or two spots for him for like two days or something you know like why not just if you miss him you can go see him or tell him about your ass of white i think he has a do you think that he has a family somewhere you know when i was reading this question that's the first thing i thought of actually and i also knew a woman who uh had never the the man never spent the week with her they were married he only spent weekends with her
Starting point is 00:45:23 and like the friends were kids we were they were convinced and they when they got married only his mom came oh something's so weird about it but anyway oh so you don't have an end to that story no there's no end they're still married oh my god what i thought you'd be like and then they found a separate family no the moms are always co-conspirators so just because the mom was at your wedding doesn't mean oh anything no like the moms are always for the money the mom is always in on it okay sorry anyway there's two different people in the world it's not the money it's because moms and their sons can sometimes have a real close relationship yes i agree that's what you want to call it i'm sure that's yeah i'm just trying to think because you know i get it like
Starting point is 00:46:12 spending well i actually don't get it because i'm a scorpio and i need to spend 99 of my time by myself but I do know that tires right exactly but when I do miss Gordon like I want to see him and like I want to see you now so I feel like you know if he's traveling for work and he's out here trying to like chase his bag and you know be the pillar of the home or whatever you know he has to do that that's not something that he's just doing for fun it's not like he's just traveling with the boys to go on a golf excursion yeah he's you know actually working unless he is because she didn't say what he does for work either i also think she said that they started dating in april of 2019 so their relationship is it's not like a super long-term relationship and if that's part
Starting point is 00:46:59 of his job you just have to accept it my boyfriend's a musician he travels well he used to he used to be on tour all of the time and that is just part of what our relationship is it's never going to be a normal relationship where we live with each other 24 seven. So if you can't accept it, then you just got to get out. Cause it's not the person for you. Cause it's probably not going to change. Okay. Okay. And you might have another family. Okay. Next question comes from Susie Q. She says I'm 26 and currently one of two 20 somethings on my team at work. Most of my coworkers are in their thirties and forties. We all get along for the most part, but two of my lady coworkers who are 40 are constantly undermining me and treating me poorly because of my age.
Starting point is 00:47:36 it's a bummer that I can't even share my success at work because they're annoyed with my quote unquote overachieving and are always encouraging me to do less because it's quote unquote not my job I haven't brought this up with my management team because it would be very obvious who made the complaint and I don't think it's an HR issue because they don't deserve to be fired I'm so torn but I have been in this department for six months and I'm at my breaking point do I crack and just tell the boss or what should I do I have so many thoughts on this because I've been this person on both sides. In your 20s, you're so hungry for your career. You're so excited. You're like, I'm just going for it. I'm hungry. It's all that matters. And as time goes
Starting point is 00:48:15 on, every year that goes on, you achieve all your achievements and you are the one that's going the extra mile. And you realize that while it matters sometimes, life is long and there's other things that matter. And so these women have already been through that stage. You know what I mean? they've been through their overachieving super hungry stage and now they're in there. I want to work as hard as I need to work to keep this job so that I can go on vacation and see my kids and have a family and buy a shoe. Like, you know, and you're going to get there one day too. So I think she should just be as gracious as possible and understand that that's their issue, not your issue. You keep hustling, you do your twenties, you're hungry. And then when you're forties,
Starting point is 00:48:58 you're going to look at those 20 year olds. Like I literally look at people now and I was like, girl, you're working way too hard. And I was that person, you know? Yeah. Yeah. It's like putting a five month old puppy in a playroom with like, you know, mature dogs, like, you know, 10 and up. They don't know. They're not with you. They don't want to deal with like your super excited energy when, like you said, they're just trying to work for the weekend. Like they're trying to get out of here and they want to clock out. Like they're not trying to work the, you know, extra mile because they've done that already. They're exhausted. Yeah. Yeah. But I also feel like there is a point, you know, I'm 28, but I feel very, very wise for my age. And, you know, I feel
Starting point is 00:49:41 like there's a point in time when you do have to start standing up for yourself a little bit. And it doesn't necessarily mean going to HR. Like if you're a grown ass woman and you're working with grown ass women, at some point you can speak up and be like, listen, I feel you. I get it. I'm still you know i'm still learning and i would love to learn from you guys but it it does you know throw me off when you start like throwing shade at me for just trying to succeed like if you have tips and constructive criticism i'm welcome to hearing it but if all you're gonna do is you know try to degrade me or like derail me from trying to achieve success you can keep that thank you so much have a blessed day that's me i don't know i can't i can only take the shade for
Starting point is 00:50:28 so long because there are people who like just wake up in the morning and just want to be pissy and it's like you know like instead of them you know trying to encourage this girl to you know to to do what she needs to do to be able to get ahead they're like oh honey please like you don't you don't know you don't know shit you don't know what you're doing and it's like okay maybe she doesn't so teach her something like give her something to do give her the things that you don't want to do let her do your task that's what i'm saying i'm like give her the actual they're not using you properly they should be like girl if you really want a kid you do this and it's actually one of your jobs that's right yeah you really want to get ahead go make that
Starting point is 00:51:07 coffee run yeah y'all yeah double espresso thank you okay last question comes from anonymous she says i'm 23 and i've been with my boyfriend for four years we met in college and after graduating two years ago we both moved back in with our parents and live an hour away from each other recently we've been talking about moving closer but we can't decide if we want to move in together or if we should both get our own separate places how different is it when you first move in with a guy and what advice would you have before signing the lease god how long have they been together don't do it don't do it don't do it and they're younger you have your whole life she's 23 she's been with him since she's 19 oh my god go live with a bunch of girls you yeah go live with
Starting point is 00:51:49 a bunch of girls if someone right now was like hey you want a year and just go live in a fun house with a bunch of girls like i'd be like bye zach i'm gonna go have sometimes i'm like i'm just gonna sleep in the guest room tonight so i can just like have my own space like yeah yeah there's something to that. Like, you know, my boyfriend and I have been together for four years. Now we're talking about, you know, home buying and marriage and stuff like that. But, you know, for the first four years of our relationship, we've lived separately and people are like astounded, shocked and appalled when they hear that we don't live together, especially when we were living in New York, because, you know, financially it makes sense. And even in LA, it makes sense. But for me
Starting point is 00:52:28 personally, it does not make sense because I require alone time. And there's just something about finding yourself, especially in your twenties and finding yourself by yourself. Sometimes you do need to be alone. And the same goes for men. Like, you know, my boyfriend had always had roommates and he initially was like, maybe we could get a place together. And I was like, no, because you've never lived by yourself. And it's important for you as a man to know what that is like and you know I want to also see how you live when you're alone I want to make sure that you you know are cleaning the sink that those dishes are not yours yes exactly you're putting the cap on the toothpaste like I need a preview of what it is that I'm going to be getting myself
Starting point is 00:53:10 into and luckily he's cleaner than I am but you just need to you have to take that time for yourself like honestly 19 to 23 I had a boyfriend in you know from about 18 to 23 and we are not together anymore I'm not saying you know I'm not trying to be a pessimist but a lot changes in your life like you haven't even had your quarter century life crisis yet no no no you gotta get you gotta yeah it's you early 20s are made for partying and for me it was single partying and hooking up with a bunch of guys but for some people maybe it's partying partying while you have a pie but still get out there and party on your own board i think in general if when i'm on my deathbed hopefully at a ripe old old age and people say what's your advice i would say don't
Starting point is 00:54:01 be in such a hurry to grow up yeah oh my god yes you know like there's something about being in your early 20s and you've got your boyfriend and you're like i'm an adult now like i'm out of high school. I'm free or I'm out of college. And then you want to be instant adult. Enjoy those post pre-adult years, post baby pre-adult years. Cause those are the best years. Once you have a mortgage, it sucks. And also like know yourself. So I have an older sister who was born to have a family from the time she was young. She was playing with baby dolls, literally her whole life. So for her, there was no part of her when she got married young that had regrets, or at least not that i'm aware of that's her but i couldn't just feel pressured into following in her footsteps because
Starting point is 00:54:46 that's not me so also it's okay if you're that girl but really be that girl yeah don't be you know like i really loved waking up in the mornings in new york city on my couch still wearing my puffy coat my heels and my purse on my shoulder yes like i needed that for me yes yes oh my god i want that now it's so i would do anything to wear a puffy coat and heels right now right I just want a hangover me too like please put me on the street in New York like waving a cab down in the middle of winter
