Starting point is 00:00:00 Hi, I'm Barbara aka your nursing educator on Instagram. I'm a registered nurse and I create content to help nursing students feel ready to take on anything and everything that comes with the job and trust me it's a lot. Here's one of my favorite and simplest pro tips. Upgrade your scrubs to figs. Figs are designed for us. They are super soft, lightweight, and breathable with four-way stretch to keep up with your every move. Polished professional silhouettes? Check. Functional details and pockets in all the right places, check and check. No matter what your day has in store, Figs has layers to match. Their underscrubs are perfect on their own or as a lightweight base layer to help keep you cool and dry.
Starting point is 00:00:40 And when the temperature drops, their outerwear styles are made for everything from chilly commutes to freezing hospital hallways. If you're in healthcare or love someone who is, check out Figs. Head to wearfigs.com and use code FIGSCA for 15% off your first order. That's wearfigs.com, code FIGSCA. little and welcome to the lady gang i'm god damn what the no i'm just i'm so excited about this welcome to the lady gang i'm becca tobin how is everybody doing i thought something was terribly wrong no i'm just you know what what i'm just trying to keep us on track she's trying to keep us we're going we're going we're going i want to tell you something you're stifling my creativity
Starting point is 00:01:44 i understand that can you believe that i've kept this snake plant alive in here for this many months you don't need to do anything to a snake plant to keep it alive you know that you don't I stay alive in a closet. Really? Yes, for months. I have some sort of plant. It's not a snake plant, but it's something. And I have not touched it.
Starting point is 00:02:00 It's still thriving. This one is like, it's better than any plant in my house that I care for, that I talk to. Why did you shift the subject? Because I want to look at you and be like, you're so beautiful and so is that snake plant right behind you. And I value your friendship and all the hard work you put into Lady Gang. And welcome to the show. This feels like a trick. Wow.
Starting point is 00:02:20 No, I'm just happy to have you guys here. Are you withholding our paychecks? I'm so excited. Well, if we do a good night of recording, I might be able to have time to go to the bank. So I'm not bribing you. No, I'm just kidding. Go to the bank. I have to deposit checks.
Starting point is 00:02:35 To give us one? Yeah. We get checks soon? Yeah. This is exciting news. Our first check. You might if you come back tomorrow. Sorry that we brought business to your pleasure, but it's time for...
Starting point is 00:02:45 Good week. Yes, it is. Bad week. Oh, no. Oh, God. Here's my bad week. I was on my period on vacation That's not the worst
Starting point is 00:02:57 That sucks I feel like you always get your period during the worst times Becca? Yeah, I do You're not on the pill, right? No, but I have a very regular schedule I need to start scheduling around my period Yeah, you do
Starting point is 00:03:12 Anyways, on my period, on vacation Which means A, very little sex Before And he won't zach is is not into period sex no no it's it's his flaw that's his flaw i mean i think he might have been in the beginning i want the guy to want it but i don't want to do it yeah yeah i dated a guy that would go down on me when i was on my i don't like that i like period sex so i'm very horny during my period i don't really track my horniness you don't really have to be horny i do
Starting point is 00:03:45 in my boot job you do not your horny letter level i check my period and then when we have sex yeah oh okay well we got really off you track when you have sex that is crazy oh my god i considered it for like a minute of my life and then i was like that is insane you can't do that okay that's the difference between us okay so the bad part is this something's going on with my vagina oh god it is so painful to remove a tampon oh what does that mean oh my god don't ask us no you know you should do google it hold on is it okay well actually it hurts it hurts like painful like or like dry or dry like sandpaper it kind of feels like both like i thought maybe because it was not menopause it's probably menopause is your vagina dry it's definitely
Starting point is 00:04:39 Because you don't usually use lube, right? You're like, why do you need all this lube? And I'm like, because my vagina is dry. I mean, I should probably use lube. Yeah, that's probably why. No. It's definitely, it's probably hormones. But it's like, hurts more than that.
Starting point is 00:04:50 It's something weird. Well, you should definitely go to the gyno. Yeah. I hate going to the gyno. Do you have a second tampon up there by accident? No. I'm not an idiot. Okay.
Starting point is 00:05:02 Well, I'm, you're all, clearly an idiot if you're asking Jack and I for vagina advice. For medical advice. You're like, why does my vagina hurt? I don't fucking know. I just don't want to go to my gyno. No, you absolutely have to. You should. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:15 Because it might be a cyst. It might be something. What if your cervix is inflamed? It's not my cervix. It's literally the walls of my vagina. Yeah. I've had that before. Does it feel raw?
Starting point is 00:05:26 Yeah. Your tampon's too big. No, it's not that. You need to be wearing a mini. You need to wear a mini. Or if you've had weird sex. Yeah. But I hadn't been having sex.
Starting point is 00:05:33 That's not my period. But the period dried out your vagina, and then you were using tampons? tampons? Yeah. Am I going to have to start lubing up my tampons? No, no, but you know what it is? Are you using organic tampons or are you using like full chemical? Yeah. I think it could be the chemical burns, the bleach. Cause they bleach those tampons. Oh my God. No. Okay. I think Kelsey is just going on a random mission. I'm telling you the truth. Go to the gyno. The reason why sometimes it can be good. I think most companies have switched away from it at this point, but you have to be careful what tampons you use because some of them are bleached cotton and the bleach
Starting point is 00:06:05 can irritate your vagina walls. Dr. Kelty says so. I would not. Allegedly. Okay. Did I ever tell you guys about when I got the tampon stuck in my vagina? No, but I got one stuck in my vagina after I smoked too much weed in Vegas. I think I did tell it because then I think I remember that story.
Starting point is 00:06:21 I had to call my mom. It was like a Venus fly trap. I had to go to the ER and then I had to have a male doctor take it out with pliers. What's wrong with us? I don't have that problem. You have a wide-set vagina and a heavy flow. I have so many problems. Kelsey can fit five tampons up her vagina.
Starting point is 00:06:40 Okay, here's my good week. I can't believe we're still on your bad week. I know, I can't either. Are you the first person to go? Yes. Yes. Our listeners look forward to this, okay? Let's move it along, ladies.
Starting point is 00:06:54 I thought we were done. Becca, what's your good week? My good week is that I realized something about myself and I'm happy that I did because I've had a lifetime of doing things that I'm not even sure I enjoy. Okay. Like this show. Why are we here? Why am I on earth?
Starting point is 00:07:13 Okay. I really dislike tennis. Sightseeing. Oh, sightseeing is the worst. Yeah. I hate sightseeing. I thought you're supposed to do that when you travel. You are, but it's the worst.
Starting point is 00:07:28 I mean, why do we have to do it? Oh, I'm like, where are you going? She's leaving. Like, you have to sightsee because people are like, oh, you need to go see the Empress's throne of the 19th century. But I just feel guilty. You didn't see the Colosseum when you were there? I didn't see the Colosseum. You didn't go to that thing where you put your fingers in and the thing will chop your fingers off if you're a liar?
Starting point is 00:07:49 In Rome. I'm just talking about Rome now. It's right beside the Colosseum. No, but that's. Sightseeing sucks. So I'm at the age now where I don't care about the earth, where I'm going. I don't care what sites, if it's on the list of the seven wonders of the world, I don't want to see it.
Starting point is 00:08:06 Unless there's a churro. I like to go, a sightseeing often has a food truck. Yeah. Like a sightseeing when you get to the top and they're like, oh, come inside this museum. Here's a cinnamon bun. No, the problem is, yeah, no, they have them at the coliseum. the problem is it's just full of like annoying fucking tourists it's only hot smelly and there's lines somebody's gonna pick pocket you yeah no say pit pocket did i say pit they're gonna pit
Starting point is 00:08:37 pocket all right so that's my good week is that i am i am embracing who i am and i'm not doing it anymore and it feels exhilarating great that's no more statue of liberty haven't seen the bitch never will oh that is the worst i actually have dude i went to ellis island and then i was with my sister my new sister and we were like oh god what should we do and then we're like should we pay the 20 more to go on the haunted ellis island like tour and we did it was just a bunch of rooms shadows painted on them like this is where they say the ghost i'm like this isn't haunted this is a goddamn vinyl decal that you put up on the wall you say decal decal whatever you call this bullshit all right my good week so okay i have been so on the workout train because you know
Starting point is 00:09:22 it's my vow renewal or whatever my vacation my bikini vacation and i am like working out getting it in so i was on a trip and um i was working on the hotel and i go down to the hotel and i was like i'm staying at a hard rock i'm like damn this gym music is loud as i'm turning the corners like wow and i was like oh my god and then i get in there and there's two bros and they have their own beat box boom box and they are blasting the music and then he's like oh sir i'll turn down i was like oh i'm sorry i didn't mean that for that to come out of my mouth and anyway i look at them they are so hot i mean one of them is like man bun david beckham he's wearing rumble like boxing silk shorts and um all tattoos man bun sweaty like beautiful like
Starting point is 00:10:05 gorgeous gorgeous man and then a friend who's like a seven shorter yeah still cute pulled together cute tattoos whatever and then I'm like old mom with my sweatband on and I'm like I'm still because I get sweaty and I'm trying anyway so I'm like walking in and I was like oh hi guys and then I'm trying to say hi and be cool and I'm like yeah because I'm hot too right and then I was like god they probably look at me like there's a 40 year old mom in the gym right that's where you say no you're still hot but anyway I wasn't so I got in good week there was super hot guys in the gym oh so I had to work out in front of them and it was super motivating it is motivating now bad week yeah as i'm working out i'm like okay i gotta like really do my moves burpees you queefed no
Starting point is 00:10:46 they spent the entire workout watching filming each other do the workouts and like narrating it so they would like walk around the bench and be like yeah man four more four more and then they would walk around and like move it and they'd be low they'd like be squatting down like as if it's me taking an outfit picture of you like okay man yeah yeah and then and then they would take a break to watch their videos back and be like yeah that's a good one that's a good one and i was like my vagina is just so dry you had the ability to be so hot and sexual and now you've ruined it by being a jackass that's all dick okay i'll i'll make mine fast because we're uh being rushed off right now um okay my good week is some girl made a post on the facebook group about uh a poll asking
Starting point is 00:11:33 girls when how old is your oldest pair of underwear in your underwear drawer and it is insane and i am one of them but like your oldest pair is like 10 years old yes oh if not more if not more and i have booty shorts i used to go go dance in in 2003 in new york i have my show g-string from rock of ages in 2009 i have some g-strings in there and i haven't worn a g-string since 18 years old since 1800s since 18 million years old well last time when i lived in the coliseum so in the coliseum so anyways with this post comes an article and it's like you should be replacing your underwear every six months which is wild sounding was right and i did a very i think adult thing and i replaced all of my underwear for the first time in 10 years i've been wanting
Starting point is 00:12:23 to do that because i still have like the lacy ones that are uncomfortable so i replaced everything with a nice spandexy stretch underwear oh is it expensive yeah well they have like the five for 50 no five for 25 victoria's secret oh okay that's pretty good but anyways okay um bad week i was flying home from somewhere recently and the lady across from me in the aisle kept getting up out of her seat standing on her armrest to get shit out of the top bin like she wouldn't just take her backpack out she stood on her chair ass out in front of everybody getting shit from there so i was like talking to my group chat i'm like oh my god this is crazy and i go to try to take a picture and my damn flash was on yes idiot idiot god damn it rookie mistake i know when we
Starting point is 00:13:14 come back a non-broadway rookie now back to the lady gang today's guest is not only making her lady gang return but is now part of the lady gang network with her hit podcast showmance with kevin mckayle she's a woman who does it all an actress singer author tony award-winning producer she's starred in broadway's waitress and is also known as her role as tina in the series glee you might have heard of it please welcome back to the lady gang podcast jenna ashkowitz hello hey girl welcome back jens jens thanks for having me back it's been such a long time it's been so long since you've seen you what's up i don't know jenna just you're looking gorgeous love looks good on you oh thanks are you still with brian david yeah i thought his name was brian is that on purpose
Starting point is 00:14:09 no that was on purpose no it wasn't no that was on purpose because remember when i saw you at lunch and i said to becca i said oh i saw jenna and her and brian and i called him brian to his face and then becca was like you never remember anyone's names it's so rude and then i was like i really thought his name was brian it's okay our other our other friend called him stanley because his last name's stanley so i was like that's a very random stanley and i'm like uh-uh don't do that one are you do you think you're gonna get married to this guy oh yeah we're gonna get married yeah i can't wait to see your wedding i can't wait for have a glee reunion at your wedding and then them to put i can't even imagine it's gonna really be a glee reunion
Starting point is 00:14:45 Who would you invite? Who will you invite? She's like only like two people. Becca and Kevin. And anyone else? That's for sure. Oh shit, you're going to keep it small? The way I look at a wedding is I'm scared if I have a small wedding that I'm going to
Starting point is 00:15:00 freak out and regret not having a bigger wedding. You won't. I know. I'm conflicted though, you guys. I've never heard of anybody that was like, I wish my wedding was bigger. Let me live, okay? No, I agree. But I think the way to back into it, the way that Brian stated it, was that we should kind
Starting point is 00:15:19 of look at who we want there first. Who means, like, who's meaningful to us, who we want, who's been, like, in our lives since we've been together, and then, like, back out that way, and then see what the guest list looks like. Let me tell you what I did. I'm going to give you some advice. Okay. I had a small backyard wedding, taco truck, 50 people.
Starting point is 00:15:38 Love it. So nice. Then, no work people. it was only lifelong friends and family i like that then then like three weeks later we're already back from the honeymoon i've already cut my hair into like wedding girl like right wife haircut you're a new woman we threw a great i took what did i speak to the manager haircut ready to go yes we did a great stacked bob stacked bob we did a great gatsby wedding celebration at a bar in hollywood covered bar come drink with us come at 8 30 in a costume and had the best photo booth
Starting point is 00:16:16 of all time it's actually a really great idea stoked so they didn't have to sit through our ceremony and watch my mom give a speech because they don't give a fuck about it i do like i don't know there's something very meaningful to that that part but i also agree with you like i always wanted to kind of elope and then before i met i mean before i had anybody like committed i wanted to have a lope and then have like a party on a boat or something. I still vote that. That sounds so fun.
Starting point is 00:16:43 It's called a boat. A boating. A boating? You loping and boating? That didn't work as well as I feel like it started in your head. It's a valiant effort. I'm so glad. Chris and I are renewing our vows.
Starting point is 00:16:58 It's so cheesy. I love it. The reason is stupid, but we just want to. We've been together 10 years. very stupid. But it's like people are like, oh God, Kathy. Okay, here's my question. Okay. I would like to take some photos when we renew our vows. It's just
Starting point is 00:17:14 going to be us on the beach far, far away. So no ceremony, no anything. It's just me and him walk down the vows. They do like a floral circle and you can go stand in it, say your vows. You can get some photos taken. Call it a day. Right. Do you have an officiant? You don't have an officiant. He's just like talk to each other? It's just you two alone?
Starting point is 00:17:30 We can have an officiant if we want one. I feel like that makes it more official otherwise you're like on a date yeah you're right here's my question do I wear a lacy bohemian dreamsicle dress or do I go Carolyn Bassett Kennedy or whatever
Starting point is 00:17:47 her name is and just go silk slip dress now I want to say something I have a body like a 13 year old boy I don't look great in a slip dress that's who looks good in a slip dress I was going to say you can't have curves Because then it just touches your biggest parts of your body.
Starting point is 00:18:04 Yeah, it just shows you the curve. Okay, anyway, I didn't ask these bitches. Also, your butt's bigger than a 13-year-old boy. Yeah, I definitely don't think you have the body of a 13-year-old boy. That's rude. Maybe your upper body. It's also rude. Jenna, do you think I should wear a Bohemian Dreams dress, or do you think I should wear a slip dress?
Starting point is 00:18:22 Well, I feel like this is a trick question, because I feel like this is what does Kelty want me to answer. Yeah, everything is. I want to know what you guys think. Because I literally just said, I don't want to hear from you bitches, so I started eating Doritos. So, fuck you. I think the slip dress would look great on your bod, and I think that's less wedding-y and more renewal. Because the bohemian lace thing screams bride to me. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:50 Okay. What do you think? Not you, bitch. I'm eating Doritos. You told me to also shut up. Okay. All right. Well, Jenna, so what were your first impressions of Becca?
Starting point is 00:19:01 Oh, my God. No, my next question, Jenna, for you. No pressure. Who should play Roxy Hart on Broadway, Becca or Kelty Knight? Give her a sampling of your vocals. The name on everybody's lips is going to be. No, give her the real. Okay.
Starting point is 00:19:17 I'm going to be a celebrity. Somebody everyone knows. Sweet. You're going to see my name in the lights, my hair, my knees, my boobs, my toes. My nose. The name in everybody's lips is going to be Roxy. Who said that murder's not a crime? She's doing it.
Starting point is 00:19:44 Okay. Obviously, Felty Knight. Did we know that the Countess is going into Chicago? I'm devastated. hold on but now becca has to audition wait is this happening no it's no but we're fighting over but jenna jenna the best part is becca never has she's never auditioned yet i'm the only one who auditioned oh you actually auditioned on the time i feel like you guys could play together you could play velma no i think you're velma bit you would be how would you know she hasn't even sung for
Starting point is 00:20:23 you i know what you want the role i think for three years for jenna but you need so much sass to be roxy um have you met her thank you everyone who meets us at the vip at live events says oh i'm such a becca i'm such a bitch it's but velma's also a bitch velma is a sneakier bitch kelsey it's kind of true we might have just decided it god damn it cast that's all we got this This is a collaborative effort. I wish they would call one of us. I know. What, they call the fucking Countess?
Starting point is 00:20:57 Just straight to offer, you guys. I know, straight offer. I want to audition. Honestly, if we did a Velma-Roxy limited engagement. Like two days. At least three shows sold out. At least three. A matinee even.
Starting point is 00:21:14 Extending the run. Extending the run until next week. Okay, Jenna, when you started on Glee, who did you think you would hate the most? based on first appearances well she already knew leah i knew leah and from what first broadway the first were you in spring awakening yeah no you weren't yeah she's known leah since they were like eight years old oh so you knew i'd hate leah you're like that bitch that seems like a shady bitch no we only had each other when we moved because everybody else was from la so like Oh.
Starting point is 00:21:47 Amber had family here. Kevin had moved here for high school. Chris and I also bonded because he came from, you know, bumfuck California. From high school. Right. Yeah. Out of high school. But that's not the question.
Starting point is 00:21:58 The question is, based on that first week, who were you like, you know who I'm going to really hate? There were only like four of them at that point. Amber Riley, because I was like, this bitch can sing. She's a threat. Oh. Snap. So Velma of you.
Starting point is 00:22:13 Sneaky bitch. Sneaky, sneaky bitch. She was, but everybody got along so well, and, you know, they put us through, like, voice lessons. Yeah, sure. None of that ever happened after. Right. It was you. The first year.
Starting point is 00:22:26 I never had to go to a voice lesson. Yeah, you didn't. Oh, wow. No. Cool. What was it like to go back to Broadway after doing Glee for Waitress, and why weren't you the f***ing lead girl? Well, Dawn Granite is a pretty. It's a great role.
Starting point is 00:22:40 No, it's a great role, but, like, I wanted you to sing. Sugar. Well, number one. Better. Nobody will do that better than Jessie Mueller. No, someone did. Her name is Shoshana. Oh, I mean, true.
Starting point is 00:22:50 Holy cow. Also, Sara Bareilles, who wrote it, was quite good in it. And Sara was amazing, too. But listen, Jessie originated the role. She was already in it. She was in it when you went in it. Yeah, I went in a month after they opened. So it was brand new.
Starting point is 00:23:03 You can't kick it and you went back. It was brand new. Then you went back. No. That was it. Those pictures are from then? Yeah. You're aging great.
Starting point is 00:23:12 You look great. She's not aging at all. I know. That's insane. I thought that was recent. That's Botox, you guys. Damn. Dr. K.
Starting point is 00:23:19 Dr. K. Going tomorrow. You are? Yes. What time? 10.15. Oh, I have a dentist appointment. God damn it.
Starting point is 00:23:27 I should reschedule, right? Okay. More important. 10th anniversary of Glee this year. Oh, God. Was that annoying for everyone to be like, it's the 10th anniversary. Should we reboot? Well, the reboot itself is annoying because it's not going to happen.
Starting point is 00:23:41 It could happen. well it's also 10 years since it started right and it ended like four years ago well that's the thing they're doing like a gossip girl we just stopped and i'm like okay but that ended in 2016 after glee so they're gonna do a reboot but it's gonna be none of us yeah it's gonna be like the new class like saved by the no because they tried to do that and it was unsuccessful no excuse me well for the record i'm the only person who made it through it's true she really did she's the But when they, Glee lost me when they moved, when girls graduated. Yeah, absolutely.
Starting point is 00:24:17 When the OGs graduated. Well, that's not what the show was about. The show changed. It's like the new class of Saved by the Bell. I don't like that new class. No, I don't like the new class either. I want Elizabeth Berkley. Yeah, exactly.
Starting point is 00:24:25 Do you, Mari? But I would, I would catch up with y'all now. I would go to New York City with all the Gleeks now, and I would have you come back. It's not going to happen. Come back together at your 20th anniversary, your 20th high school. That should be just like an hour and a half movie on Netflix. Yeah, like a Saved by the Bell one. It would be amazing.
Starting point is 00:24:43 I mean, Ryan has a deal on Netflix, so it's not far from what's possible. And Glee was just on Netflix. Would you do a 10-year anniversary and you guys all get together and you see where you are? I definitely would. Yeah, Jenna. Are you busy podcasting? No, no, no. I would.
Starting point is 00:25:00 I would. I never said I wouldn't. I just don't think it's going to happen. And there was an article that just came out that Chris Colfer was like, you couldn't pay him. No. You know what, Chris? We don't need you. Well, you've had a 20-time New York Bestseller, so it's fine.
Starting point is 00:25:15 Okay, my question is, so what is Tina doing at the 10-year reunion? She's had a baby. She's the CEO. Oh, she had a kid. She got married. She's a full-time night nurse and nanny and then a personal assistant. 100%. And a black car that picks her up in the morning.
Starting point is 00:25:32 Totally. She flies private only. She's a Birkin washer. What? Someone that comes in to dust her Birkins. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay, I get that. I get that.
Starting point is 00:25:40 Yeah, absolutely. She always had that in her. And I believe that she did not have what it took to go on and make it in this business. Well, Kitty is a host on Entertainment Tonight. No. Yeah. When we were doing our final season finale of the show was actually a fast forward to 20. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:26:05 It was supposed to be like some. Rachel wins a Tony. Wait, did you actually film it? Oh, yeah. Did they put old people makeup on you? No, they just sort of gave us new looks. We look like our age now. So old.
Starting point is 00:26:18 Very old. But I was in this jumpsuit and blazer thing, and Ricky, my manager, came on set that day because it was the final day of shooting, and he's like, you look like one of those E! News girls. Wait, what were you actually doing? They didn't say. They didn't say what anybody...
Starting point is 00:26:32 Artie was a director that his film got into Slamdance or something, and then Tina was with Artie with Artie so it was very much a woman who needed a guy to be with
Starting point is 00:26:45 a successful director because I don't know that she had any I don't really remember to be quite honest but in my mind Kitty is the host of Entertainment Tonight
Starting point is 00:26:53 she wishes she wishes she had that raw talent I'm not I'm also not the host of Entertainment Tonight Kitty was really talented okay
Starting point is 00:27:00 Kitty was talented they would never let you wear that ponytail in Entertainment Tonight they hate a ponytail I had a bob kitty lost all of her hair to the ponytail you're so lucky you didn't like i honestly don't know how her hair sat in that ponytail for that oh my god i had meltdowns tight i emailed brad specifically
Starting point is 00:27:18 i remember being like can you please just at least let me cut my hair and i can do a clip-in extension or something i was desperate it was so brutal it was dark headaches after a while right yeah i didn't know you won a tony yeah i mean i don't think a lot of people you should be i wasn't like up you know on the stage accepting it so it wasn't like one of the well-known ones but do you have it yeah it's your house yeah kelty wants to steal it no does your tony and miami one have a play date oh my god yes sorry listeners sorry so what was the tony for so um we're going over the notes and they're like oh and she won the tony and i was like she didn't win a tony no she won a tony i um i became a
Starting point is 00:28:07 co-producer on once on this island the revival with alex newell and leah salonga um there was a group does that even mean a co-producer could i be what do you mean yeah you could be a co-producer what do you basically what you have to do is either um buy invest in your own money or raise enough money with investors to um for to make your raise in your capital so like um and there's this really great program called uplift in new york that allows like um you know minorities so basically anybody of color anybody under 40 anybody in the lgbtq community anybody who um you know identifies as non-binary like they opened up this program one lead producer hunter arnold so that our um first co-pro uh show like once on the silent we only had to raise a certain amount
Starting point is 00:29:00 of money and he left enough that we could do that and still be producers and then hopefully win tony's or get ourselves in the door in like um you know an easier way to have some legitimacy for our second show and then our second show we'd had um like a little bit of a higher raise and so they're kind of teaching us slowly how to how to raise money and how to um you know manage being a co-producer which is not incredibly difficult it's just a lot of work question you're doing ryan's program for female directors right yeah technically not at the moment but i i did shadow a director on uh american horror story who did you shadow brad beaker you did yes i was with for a month he's the best oh so i was with on her story for their first episode which was like
Starting point is 00:29:53 very illuminating um it's all directing is a totally different beast a totally different skill a totally different mindset um so i i learned a lot it was the first time i did it um and i it's like it's quite overwhelming to go on a show of that caliber and that size for your first directing yeah um your first shadow like he i don't know if anybody gets more questions in a day than brad beaker probably ryan murphy but i mean everybody's coming at him from every which way and he's trying to focus and direct at the same time i don't know how he does it but it's a really cool experience and the half foundation that ryan um founded is helps women in directing and they kind of subsidize their their time while they're shadowing other directors so that they're
Starting point is 00:30:42 I'm not losing out on the work that they would be doing otherwise. Yeah. That's pretty cool. All right. When we come back, Jenna's going to fix your life. You're listening to The Lady Gang. Well, we're back. Okay.
Starting point is 00:30:58 You ready to fix some lives? Sure. Okay. First question comes from Anonymous. Anonymous says, this is a wedding question. My wedding is in less than 90 days and is fully planned. My gut is telling me that I'm doing the wrong thing, but my head is telling me that I need to follow through with this due to all the time and money invested in the relationships and the day itself. However, I feel like I'm really settling on so many things just to be married, but my gut is telling me he isn't the guy for me.
Starting point is 00:31:30 I'm 23, and I know I have my life ahead of me. He's my high school sweetheart, and don't get me wrong, I love him, but I just can't help but feel like I'm going to be divorced by 25. run it's my gut wrong and i'm just nervous about forever or am i making a huge mistake you should be nervous about forever because you're only 23 that's like 80 more years with this guy you don't even know who you are yet no your brain isn't you know it's worse than walking away from these deposits and blah blah blah like hers and dealing with a divorce and putting everybody through all that shit this is the best time to do it now or never babe it's gotta happen yeah and money comes and goes i know it's a pain in the ass every like you got
Starting point is 00:32:11 to do this you won't get those three years back no if your gut is telling you something and you feel like in the deepest part of your soul this is not the guy for you then he is not the guy for you and you're making i'm 33 and it was already it was difficult enough to commit to the same person okay yeah i had 10 years of gallivanting around no and if he's her high school sweetheart she probably hasn't slept with anybody else yeah go sample the dicks yeah dick buffet go take a swim in the dixie the dixie yeah there's a lot of dicks in that sea okay okay so anyways don't get married next question is drea i think don't get married this is gonna be too late which is gonna be too late what if she goes through with it i feel like we need to track her down it's anonymous too
Starting point is 00:32:57 i'm talking to a guy who is more unfortunate looking than me i like him i like that jesus and i know i'm being superficial but i'm embarrassed to go forward because if we procreate our kids might not be attractive am i being crazy no this is great usually two people that are unattractive make a really pretty baby because sometimes beautiful people i don't think we should use usually occasionally sometimes often in a blue moon occasionally well can you gg hadid's dad is not a looker i guarantee you he was handsome as a young boy oh but can you even make the babies with somebody who you're not that attracted to sometimes i've had great sex with ugly people sometimes an ugly person is great in bed here's what i'm gonna say if i'm not like
Starting point is 00:33:45 if you're not sexually attracted i'm not in it but she i think is she's so i wish that this for once i wish this question was longer because i would like to have some context like if you really like the guy but this is the one thing but you still like to have sex with him right i wouldn't worry it's not your problem i know a baby i know a girl you'll think your baby is the cutest thing in the world you will and who cares who cares but like almost this is gonna be polarizing okay i'm being unique looking is the new pretty because everyone is so homogenized and like everyone looks the same. So it's kind of cool when you see someone ugly, kind of. Yeah. Like by, and I mean ugly by like beauty book standards, like no one's really ugly. We're all beautiful
Starting point is 00:34:39 snowflakes okay um i've seen ugly people um i'll say this there's a girl that i sometimes talk on instagram she's a mutual friend i won't give her the satisfaction of a follow okay she's beautiful she married a very rich man who looks like a troll their kids are really cute and i think if one as long as one person she's saying they're both unfortunate looking no no she said she's a new guy who's more unfortunate looking than me you just can never know she's just not being that girl what i'm saying is this girl that i follow don't follow but follow on instagram stop on instagram because i'm curious i was very curious when she announced her pregnancy i was like the kids were gonna come out stay tuned like if she probably had better
Starting point is 00:35:27 looking kids with this troll than she would have with some model like you just don't know Oh, jeans are a funny thing. Earth is weird. Yeah, go through. If you love them, have a baby with them. If you love them, go for it. If you're not attracted to them. And plastic surgery is at the fingertips of all.
Starting point is 00:35:42 Well, the thing is, the reason why everybody looks the same is because everybody's getting plastic surgery. But you can change. Jenna, your kids are going to be so cute with Brian. Brian and you are going to have beautiful babies. Thank you so much. Are you going to name them Brian and Gina? We definitely have Googled Mexican-Korean babies. Are there any?
Starting point is 00:35:59 But he looks so cute. We have to move on. Yeah. Cute as fuck. Cute. Okay, I'm excited. Anything with Asian at all is cute. I see Asian babies all the time.
Starting point is 00:36:10 I'm like, oh, my God, is that my kid? I need it. It's so beautiful. Is that what my kid's going to look like? Okay, our last question comes from Stella. Stella. Stella says, dear Lady Gang, I have a best friend who's getting married in a month, and I don't like the fiancé, but I'm not one to tell someone who they shouldn't be with.
Starting point is 00:36:30 They've been together for seven years, so they have some history together. A few months after he proposed, my best friend and I found out that he has been cheating on her with my co-worker. No, you didn't. On top of that, I heard my co-worker has been trying to break up the wedding. Oh, fun. My co-worker knows about my friendship with her, yet acts like a completely fake person to me. She doesn't know, I know, and we have not said anything about the situation to each other. The fiancé says they have broken it off, but I don't think it's true.
Starting point is 00:36:57 I guess my question is, how should I handle working with her? She sucks tremendously at her job. Knowing what she did to my best friend. And might I add, a co-worker and fiancé used to date years and years ago, so I can see if he cheated for almost a year, how could he not continue to do it? This is a vicious circle you don't want to get involved in. It's too much drama. It fucks with your money, because it's J-O-B.
Starting point is 00:37:19 I think stay out of it. Keep those loose lips tight. An anonymous letter. I love the use of an anonymous letter. Anonymous letter, if you can't get caught, is great. Well, are they still going to get married? Are they still on the track to get married? You obviously use magazines and cut out the letters.
Starting point is 00:37:37 But that's my question. Becca, when you do an anonymous letter, do you do cut out, ransom note, or do you write it? Honestly, there have been so many occasions I want to do. Wait, why can't you just print out the anonymous letter? That's actually a way better idea. Type it. buy like a hundred magazines trying to find an x you're right you could just print it the computer you're right you're right maybe the dumbest thing i've ever thought of you know what
Starting point is 00:38:04 you're right no i was with you becca i was like get the glue stick get the glue stick out don't buy the purple kind you're gonna need like a hundred pages three letters i want i want that like old school where it was like the clear glue with like the orange tip that you had to like to really it's like um it's like miss congeniality yeah that's what i'm picturing yeah exactly but you're right you can just print it out print it whatever just type it up and send an email you could you could get an anonymous email yeah oh no check it out do it from a library yeah exactly can't track a lot there's gonna be cameras surveillance camera they can't ask to see surveillance photo footage for no reason dang i bet they can i would definitely do the cutout letters
Starting point is 00:38:47 it sounds way more crafty and fun no actually don't don't do the magazine because it looks like it came from someone unstable and they're not gonna trust you yeah they'll be like this person they're literally gonna think that you're gonna get murdered exactly you read the whole thing oh my fucking husband's cheating on me oh well okay that's the end right yeah okay well jenna you're great we love you you guys i know you are probably already listening but if you're not listen to the showman's podcast showman's is great it's great it's so good all right we love you jenna thanks for a good job on showman's podcast yay we will see you next tuesday thanks for listening and make sure to rate and review this podcast wherever you get your podcast we
