Starting point is 00:00:00 Hi Lady Gang, it's Kelty with a little update on YouTube. So I said to you, well, we're not gonna be able to release the episodes of Lady Gang TV until we get 10,000 subscribers. And so anyway, the reason I said that is because we need 10,000 subscribers before we can like put this up or else it's like somehow gets flagged or something. I don't know. I don't really understand YouTube, but we've been trying and we have like 4,000 right now. So I'm feeling really good about it, but we are working hard to make fun video content for you and we can do a lot more there. We started posting some of the little clips from Lady Gang TV. Hopefully, they don't get taken down.
Starting point is 00:00:32 And I would just really appreciate it if you head on over to YouTube. If you have a YouTube, even if you have a YouTube you don't use, subscribe to Lady Gang. We're cool cats trying to be YouTube influencers now. Okay, bye. Well, what is this? Welcome to the Lady Gang. That's amazing. Say that again.
Starting point is 00:00:46 The Lady Gang. Things are about to change around here. Each week, we catch up with Hollywood's hottest girl posse, Kelty Knight, Becca Tobin, and Jack Vanek. Hello, hello, hello. Welcome to the Lady Gang. It's Becca Tobin here, and that's all that matters, because I'm here in Austin, Texas. I thought I would never return. I am here with Kelty and Jack, but I just want to take the opportunity to say, God bless America.
Starting point is 00:01:18 Oh! How dare you! Oh, I love it. I'm just going to say, I have a lot of empathy for Canadians, because being that far north, there's just certain things that you don't get and we take for granted like vitamin D. Yeah. And something happens. Like vitamin D. No, literally. Something happens to your soul when you are deprived like that. And I just wanted to tell any single Canadian women out there find a man who lives in palm springs and get your bones warm and get your green card
Starting point is 00:01:57 i i totally get that because even these long rainy days in la we've had too much rain and i'm like this is not good for the mental health so i can't even imagine how hard it is when you go farther up north like that's gotta with you kelty i can't believe you are even here with us that you made it you know and barely and barely you know and I had to get out when I was 18 I was like I can't live this way but it's two things number one it's crazy because even with like the mental health that I've been like digging into in Canada like winter is like our watch season like we're like oh my god oh my god like the difference between someone in summer and winter like it's crazy and number two I found a new favorite artist don't tell Matt Nathanson but he's from Vermont which
Starting point is 00:02:46 not canada but he has this song um and he one of the lyrics is um excuse my bad attitude i was raised in the wait i'll find it keep going something about being raised in a dark yeah yeah yeah i get it a sunshine makes me happy there was some meme that i saw that it's like we all have the friend whose personality completely depends on the weather and i am that friend like when it's sunny out i am just in the most chipper mood and when it's rainy i am a completely different person it's so true it's powerful if i get too close and i'm not how you hoped forgive my northern attitude i was raised in the cold if the sun don't rise to the summertime forgive my northern attitude i was raised on little light no dude yes real i think anybody
Starting point is 00:03:37 who lives in a climate like that they should just be given like one month of the winter gifted a free time in a sunny climate arizona palm springs like i just feel i know that you adapt and listen there are much worse things going on in the world in much worse places of course but just having been there and seeing what it and i think i was saying to jack before we started obviously i lived there for seven months before this period of time that i went back. But I was there during COVID and COVID was its own time. And I just assumed the gloominess and the soulless encounters that I was having were due to COVID, but it's actually, it's due to the weather. And do you, I have a question. Do you think that the over chipperness and the
Starting point is 00:04:30 politeness of Canadians is to overcompensate because it's so sad up there? Like with the weather yeah i think i can actually identify because we know because we know that i have pmdd now and i can actually tell you what what exactly is going on with canadians they're very polite people because they have to be it's kind of what you just were leading to because when you have pmdd similar to sad set seasonal depression you have no other choice you're either a monster and you shut down or you have to just put on this weird got to overcome yeah and you just have to be polite but almost not robotically polite because if you let anything in you're just gonna break right and i shut it all down push it all to the bottom of the push it down say yes
Starting point is 00:05:25 and thank you and how are you and and like just move on i mean don't get me wrong i still absolutely love my canadians i freaking love you i just feel for you i feel for you and i want to start some sort of let's let's make this our new platform let's give them sunlight that's our that's our lady gang charity sunlight and souls for the people that north of north okay so anyways that was my i'll just let you know my good week is that i'm back and i'm sorry to up the structure of the show but let's no it's fine as a canadian i forgive you it's no problem thank you oh you love rules too the canadians ah they love a rule okay it's time for good week yes it is bad week oh no um okay so my bad week other than all of the things i experienced in vancouver um
Starting point is 00:06:19 here's my bad week. This is, I have reached something that I'm very proud of. So this is, this is good. I'm old and I'm too tired for your bullshit. The bad week is this. I was on set. This was a real test to me and advocating for myself, this entire experience, not just like, it wasn't bad. It was just me being like, Oh, you're a mom. Now you can't just go and sacrifice time, energy, whatever it is, because you're not the one who's, who's hurting anymore. It's not just you who's sacrificing it. It's your family. It's your child. So it kind of was an overarching theme on set. And I was not quite as chipper and cheery and like gracious as I normally am on a set. I was just sort of more business and a little
Starting point is 00:07:07 bit less. I'm not taking your bullshit. Cause there were some people on the set that I was like really didn't respect at all for certain reasons. Um, nor did they deserve the respect. And I was just, I wasn't, I wasn't unkind. I was cold. I was very cold. And I made it clear that like, I'm not going to put up with your bullshit and I'm just going to come here and do my job and whatever. Well, this same guy, I was leaving set one day and there's a girl on set who's a little bit younger than me and she's um an actress and she's obviously like doing really she's doing well she's but she's kind of breaking into the scene and you can tell she's me 10 years ago she wants to please everybody she wants to smile she wants to have a good attitude she doesn't want to
Starting point is 00:07:51 question anything she just wants to be like the good girl and we're walking off set and she's in front of me and this guy says to her okay have a great day let's call her sarah he's like i just want to say, I love your energy. I just, you know what? I just, I really appreciate it. I love your energy. So great. And she walks past and then I walk past, he says nothing to me and I glare at him and I looked at her and I go, that wasn't a compliment. Wait, I have a question. Is this guy like in a position of power or is he not? No, we're all kind of like, he's not an actor. He works on the set um and he has a job on the set that's like mid mid tier you know um and uh and i said that wasn't a compliment i said 10 years ago that would have been a compliment to me but it
Starting point is 00:08:39 actually means that you're not sticking up for yourself because men like that the compliment women because they like your energy means they like your compliant yeah and i said i tomorrow i don't want you to say i don't want you to walk off set and i don't want you to say that to him Because she and I were talking about the things he was doing that were really bothering us. But outwardly, she was showing there was no issue with it at all. And he just loved that he could look at her, be validated, and go on with his shitty behavior. So it was actually a really good conversation. But I just, I have had it with men.
Starting point is 00:09:15 Like, there's something about right now in my life. if you're a middle-aged white guy and you want to tell me what's up you better be in writing my checks period and then maybe not even so there you go girls be careful if there's a douchebag out there telling you he likes your energy you're doing something wrong yeah and that sucks because it's like if it is if this girl's like 10 years younger than you and she's like just getting into the business it's like those type of comments are going to be what validates how she acts and her performance and all that kind of stuff so that's just what continues to build this like power dynamic problem of men and women especially in entertainment so that that sorry for
Starting point is 00:09:58 my anger i've been in canada who's next go ahead okay so my good week is one of my favorite shows of all time came back for a new season they've been on hiatus for a long time and i was very very nervous for how this was going to go because it usually goes poorly like when you bring a show back and you bring all the characters back and they've aged a bunch and you're trying to like get the same dynamic going on it usually crashes and burns but this is it party down party down it was this new season was absolutely fantastic jane lynch becca holy shit she's a queen she like i she's unreal there's like nobody like her her character is so bizarre and everybody just it was amazing i was like so scared going into it because like arrested development came back and i'm like
Starting point is 00:10:51 this isn't it's not giving what i wanted time and a place yeah yeah and like they could have done it right but they didn't but this was like they didn't skip a beat it was so good so anybody that loved party down or like any sort of a sitcom sort of a thing like it's it's incredible i need to watch it have you ever seen it yeah i loved it but again i was sort of scared because i was like what am i gonna get but it holds up that's exciting it holds up it's so funny and like they do the topical thing like there's a little bit of like covid in it but like not in a like or like cheesy way like they incorporate kind of like what's going on in life like topically it was just so good so highly recommend anybody to watch the new season that
Starting point is 00:11:35 liked it and like i said jane's character is so insane i don't know how she does what she does she's an alien she's the funniest human on the planet she's so funny um so my bad week is it is may and i just recently a couple days ago got april fooled i have been april fooled so many times wait this month are you allowed to do april fools i thought it was just on april first post no this so this is what happened oh no i saw a post from oreo and funfetti they had a collab post and they're like we're bringing the collab funfetti uh oreo cookies are coming to stores delicious and i was like holy shit this is like the collab of a lifetime and i posted it on my feed and i was like this is the best i'm like maybe they'll want to sponsor me like i i could
Starting point is 00:12:27 be like the face of oreo and funfetti collaboration yes yes and then it took me a good five hours and probably 20 messages in my inbox saying that it was an april fool's joke so that's such a dumb joke because why wouldn't you collaborate well and also jokes on you you would have sold a ton of cookies so many and they did the thing where they're like collaborators on the instagram post so it wasn't like one of them was doing something like this is all part of a big broad marketing scheme and they are going to launch so you could still you still have a chance i want to be the face where you have funfetti i don't think a skinny ass white girl is going to be the face of funfetti and oreo yes especially a girl that's whittling down before her wedding
Starting point is 00:13:11 no no no i wedding body by funfetti yeah you guys i have done a sponsored post for oreo before i just remembered so there's but you weren't the face of oreo keep dreaming i didn't think i'd be the face of this i'm not the face of anything right you're like the face of lady gang exactly but i'm like the i'm the like smallest face of lady gang that's not even true it's not even true no so anyways i but i got fooled so many times on april fools i was so pissed i think this was so dumb when brands do april fools i'm so glad we didn't i know but april fools it's over lady gang's son i was interviewing chris pratt and like i guess there's like all this drama about him being the voice of mario because he's not italian yeah mario brothers movie
Starting point is 00:14:00 it's like hollywood's out of its mind yeah let's die on this hill and i'm doing my right my my research and i'm like oh oh this is crazy look he's also going to be the voice of mickey mouse and then i was like wait a second it was an april fool's joke i almost asked him about it i'm bad no that actually would have been kind of fun though yeah no but those are all the april fool's things that i got it's like people it was like clayton that was the bachelor is gonna walk out the limo for the new bachelorette and i was like oh my god or like kristen dodie's going back on vanderpump rules oh yeah you sent me that to becca and then you were like oops it was an april fool I was like, I got fucking April Fool's again.
Starting point is 00:14:42 I got April Fool's like 10 times that day. You should stay off social media. We'll remind you next year. Oh, my God. I knew it. I was like, look out for the fools. And then I got fooled three weeks after April Fool's. I hate my life.
Starting point is 00:14:54 Anyway. So special, Jack. You really are a special sunflower. Healthy. Okay. So my, I'm going to take you to the toe doctor. So my good week is, is that, well, it's, it's a good week is that I went back to the foot doctor and I've removed more of my hammer toe toenail. And so basically I have like only half
Starting point is 00:15:15 a toenail now, but I'm not in pain anymore. So, you know, this has been a long process. I've had many ingrown toenails removed and I just said, laser that shit off. And she's like, it's going to be really ugly. And I was like, I don't care. I can't deal with this anymore. So I'm so excited to announce that I've had no foot pain for like two weeks. Here's the bad week. I love Dr. Levine. Dr. Levine is an amazing doctor and I hadn't been there in a year and I called and I was like hey it's Kelty I'm a patient of Dr. Levine
Starting point is 00:15:43 I need to get in with him he needs to remove this toenail and they said Dr. Levine is dead oh and I was like what was he old? no you guys he was so young and handsome and wonderful
Starting point is 00:15:59 and he was so nice to my dad when my dad had foot stuff and he didn't charge us because we did not have Canadian health care or American healthcare. And he was such a good guy. And I was like, what? And like, I know this is a man that has only dealt with toenail fungus and like removing toes, but I'm just so sad about Dr. Levine. Well, they said heart attack. And I was like, there's something else going on. Like this is, but he was like the best anyway. So like, it just really hit me rest in peace, Dr. Levine. Like I, you know, now I'm at Dr. Emily, which is
Starting point is 00:16:29 fine. She was great. She cut my toe. It's gone. But anyway, I just, it was a shock to me. I wasn't expecting this to happen when i called and they were like yes he died last year and i was like oh my god i'm so far behind i didn't have any toe pain i didn't know to check in anyway do you i'm sorry about your i'm sorry to hear about dr levine but i do want to know when they laser your toenail off is it off forever yes so they they they freeze it they cut it like as if it's a piece of paper can i see it sure no and you know what that i this is gonna be so gross but that you can smell it when they're lasering it off you can smell it oh god kelsey wait it doesn't look that bad you can i mean wait why isn't it like showing you oh there we go it's not focusing oh
Starting point is 00:17:12 it doesn't look bad you've got a nice big toenail you still have some left let's keep going on the podcast you still have some left okay when we come back more podcast hey lady gang this episode of lady gang is sponsored by mud water so far becca and i are obsessed. And I have to tell you that out of the blue, I went back and drank a cup of coffee this morning and I was driving and I felt so much anxiety, to be honest with you, that real shaky kind of feeling. It's been a long time since I had a cup of coffee. I just was like, I'm gonna have a cup of coffee. And then I realized, wow, changing over from coffee to mud water has really changed my life. It's like a coffee alternative and has tons of good stuff for your immune system
Starting point is 00:17:54 and Lion's Mane to get you focused and a hint of caffeine with chai and cacao, cinnamon, the mushrooms, everything about it is like way better for you. I really had that comparison today, literally today. And I was like, wow, I'm so glad I switched over. And I don't want to say that I'm like the picture of health, but I've definitely been on this health journey. And I have to say that Just Thrive probiotic is incredible. And I really am at the season of my life where I believe that health comes from the gut. And I didn't want to believe that for a long time, but I'm here. And the probiotic is just so amazing. And the reason it is amazing is we learned that it has this special capsule around it where your stomach acid doesn't eat it up. It actually waits to dissolve until it's actually in your intestine where it needs to do that work. And so it's really great because it eliminates bad bacteria and replenishes the good. All the
Starting point is 00:19:16 products are natural and they have a money back guarantee. I also love their Just Calm product, but the probiotic is really, really something special. You guys are freaking awesome.
Starting point is 00:21:05 I'm so happy for your success. You guys 100% deserve it. You're funny. You're inspiring. you are leading the charge on this younger generation i call younger generation because you guys are i'm just i'm so proud of you guys i i've been i watched you guys just i'm a big fan thank you well i uh did i don't know if you're even going to remember doing a pilot you did a pilot in a house in the hollywood hills in 2012 with some australian guy it was a talk show format
Starting point is 00:21:39 my god and i was on glee at the time and they booked me to be like the guest of this pilot talk show and i was so i had literally like gotten off the bus to hollywood and five minutes later they're like do you want to do a pilot uh jenny mccarthy's doing a talk show and i was like the most starstruck of my life and you were the most genuine kind badass hard-working woman like i'm so happy that that was one of my first my first like interactions with a real celebrity and it was just i'll never forget it so i always just i'm such a huge huge fan of yours and look at you now girl look at you now in our living rooms yeah there you go becca with a little bit a baby spit up on you. I love it. I love it. I love it. Um, so Jenny, I just like, I, I just
Starting point is 00:22:37 feel like you have had such a wild career. And I mean, I think about like MTV singled out and like the outfits and the craziness of that and like bombshell bombshell, and then have like moved and been able to conquer so many things proving yet again, that you can be pretty and smart at the same time um how has this journey been for you and and like the your ability to keep going you know most people would have been like i'm out by now totally and you know what i probably would have if i'm my goal was to just kind of settle down with an old dude and take his money but which was which was a big thing when i uh moved to la because i started out in playboy which we'll get to but it um a lot of the girls i remember on my first day i was like what do you guys like
Starting point is 00:23:29 want to be what's your next level what's your next step and they're like we're here this is this is it like their goal was to find a loaded guy and live happily ever after but mine was like oh no no this was just a door that i've considered opening you know i didn't know it was going to be a harder door to open because I started with blue boy back then. But, um, nonetheless, I had that kind of, uh, I guess, motivation early on. And then of course you have a child and that brings even more motivation because you're like, I got to feed the baby. I got to feed the baby. Should I do this job? It'll help me feed the baby. It'll help me educate the baby. Everything's about the baby. You know, my, my baby's now 20 and I still take jobs to feed the baby. So that's an amazing,
Starting point is 00:24:15 reason, but also I look back at my career. Yes, it's been a strange, wild, amazing ride that I'm so grateful for because it's not been boring. I've been able to dip my toe in a bunch of little different ponds. And I remember early on making an intention saying, I don't want to be pinched and hold into one category. I really want to stretch my wings to be able to go, I can do this, I can do this. I can do this. So starting with Playboy, people were like, you're crazy. You're never going to get work, especially comedy. There's nothing funny about posing naked. That's the one thing you shouldn't do to certain people is to say no, or you can't because it does motivate them. And it did. And I started off with MTV and, you know, like any career, you have the
Starting point is 00:25:06 ups and downs and it's a matter of, do you get back up? And whether it was a cancellation or just, I'm tired of this job or doing something for the money. You just got to keep going. And that's what I did. And I'm so grateful that I've had the variety. I feel like, you know, when you go to the store and you get the variety packs of cereal or chips, that is, that's how I describe my career. It's, you know, book writing, script writing, acting, hosting, basically I'm available for hire. How did you like, especially back in the day, like in the nineties, early 2000s like where people were brutal and like you said it's like you can't you're not going to do anything like you you're posing naked or you're just being this pretty face hosting this show
Starting point is 00:25:48 like how did you just have your blinders on how were you able to like brush things off your back where i'm sure there's a bunch of especially men or whoever making comments about your looks or your ability or your talents or whatever like how because everybody has to deal with it it's like how do you brush it off? It was, it's, it's to look back now, I think people, there was cameras following me around. People would be shocked at how rude and, you know, sexist. And I guess I'm going to call it old school because they really were old school. It was like, I remember hearing, what are you thinking? You you're just good to be jerked off to. We don't want to hear what you have to say. Oh my God. Stuff like that. Or I'd be like,
Starting point is 00:26:35 or at an audition and, you know, someone asking me to remove my clothes during an audition and me, of course, having the smarts to be like yourself, you know? Uh, but you know, that happened numerous times or producers or people they're saying like, the only way you're going to get ahead is if you sleep with someone. And I remember when I was driving out from Chicago, my little U-Haul van that would only go 30 miles an hour. I said, listen, Jenny, don't sleep with anyone to make your career to get anywhere maybe for a pair of shoes but not your career like know that so when you you're 80 years old you can look back on your career and go I did my best and I'm so proud to say that I didn't you know when I watched a lot
Starting point is 00:27:22 of girls around me and just just go all in and and and and try any which way to get the part and I'd much rather, you know, be a B-level actress than an A-plus actress that, you know, for roles. So I've taken a page out of the Jenny McCarthy Hollywood book, which is like to probably have at least five jobs at all times. And so at my other job on E! News, you were there a couple of weeks ago interviewing with Justin and Adrian. And we, they started talking and then we were talking about it a little after about, oh, and then I think we were talking at Heather DeBrother's birthday party about like, you have got to do the documentary on your life. Like the Pamela Anderson documentary version of the Jenny McCarthy story. Like there's such a story there. And I think it really is crazy the way that you ladies were treated in that era.
Starting point is 00:28:15 And there was no, no one was standing up for you. There's no, you get to have access to mental health care. Like it was a totally different era. it was and and panela you know i i worked with her so many times through the years you know we i went to cam you saw her at the cam film festival uh dressed as barb wire you know i was on that trip um it was it was uh you felt very alone you felt bullied a lot it felt like you know i went to an all-girl catholic school growing up nothing prepared me for hollywood better than an all-girl catholic school can't even imagine because when you're young and there's heathers
Starting point is 00:28:52 out there you know that are so brutal i mean i have my hair lit on fire on the school bus i had my maxi pad stolen out of my purse and taped up all over the walls with my name on it um beat up with pipes girl i mean it's just bad but hollywood was way harder way harder um it was just brutal i i can't imagine having that type of um cruelty on top of social media it was bad enough reading it in the press uh but then to get hit day after day like i don't know how the housewives do it i don't know how they freaking manage all those attacks you know i mean i've gotten stronger armor now but um you know i i watched the pamela anderson documentary going like amen girl would i do one yes probably probably maybe you're doing it we're bullet
Starting point is 00:29:44 pointing it right now we need it i feel like i have so many it would need to be a six-part series because there's i have so much shit i mean i have so much you guys i have to wait for a few people to die and then i can give you the really good stories um but i love this i'm damn it was it was rough but you know the interesting thing is i know that they did a documentary about playboy um the secrets of playboy or something like that which they asked me to be part of and i'm sure they asked pamela to be part of pamela and i didn't have that experience which did was it happening around me i'm sure i just didn't know to what level i stayed away like i consciously made those decisions of like hey do you want to go to this place or do you want to do this or do
Starting point is 00:30:34 you want to go in the grotto or do i said no i was reading to children in libraries while i was miss october and you can pull that up it was like i i treated it like a miss universe yes i was working at a polish grocery store for seven years prior to this i would have used every asset that i have to um parlay this into something and mtv came along next and mtv said when my manager called can she audition they said um no she's a playmate we will never have a playboy playmate on mtv because sponsors at the time like johnson and johnson of course they have uh in their contract like you can't have anyone that's posed nude before um yada yada yada and so i didn't take that no seriously so i had him call like 10 more times he still said no so there was a cattle call
Starting point is 00:31:29 where there was like 400 people that were lined up to to audition and i was like i'm just gonna sneak in there oh my god line wait it was all those people and then um i didn't have a headshot back then because i only had a playboy headshot like you know like here's my picture just two little pacys on the boobs so literally i'm gonna write what i did i i handed in this along with my audition and as the time i there was like six callbacks and on the fifth one i got a phone call that said are you that playmate that kept calling to try to get in here this was my headshot i gave them it was like lucy from charlie brown yeah and i signed my name and i was like this is my headshot and i said yes that is me yeah and they're like oh so it's down to me and another girl and i just
Starting point is 00:32:19 pulled out like you know making fun of myself anything that i felt was authentically me because then but that thought maybe they might see past the big bleach and big boobs and all that yeah and lisa ackerman uh lisa ackerman i forgot her name but she uh gave me the job and kind of started from there i remember calling my mom going like mom i don't have to come back home and work at the polish grocery store i'm on tv now it's so crazy and here you are all these years later and then it's like the jenny mccarthy effect like they put you on mass singer and mass singer's like the number one new show i know you're about to go into season nine or season nine's on right now right yeah what season am i watching you're season nine you're okay i'm like
Starting point is 00:33:03 it's been on for now all these years like but it's such a huge hit like there is something people just want to see you on television they like your personality they like your spunkyness like there's just something about you were you so surprised when they called you for messing and they're like okay there's this show from korea and every celebrity is going to be in costumes like could you imagine that you would be on season nine right now well believe it or not you know when i i got calls the years of like some weird random shows and my agents were like you can't do this and this one in particular my agents like i already passed on this show but i'm just letting you know that they offered it and i go well i know it's weird but i'm weird and it does check the
Starting point is 00:33:41 boxes check the boxes in terms of like celebrity competition and I'm like I think this is gonna work I think and and I rolled the dice and here we are I'm so grateful because it is a great it's a great gig I love it I love that families you know come up to me and like oh my god my kids watch it with me it's like something that brings everyone together like the old days yeah but the thing is now that you can like ring the bell or whatever do you feel the pressure because you have to see people out in hollywood and like if you didn't ring your bell for them like are they pissed like is there anyone you regret about the bell rings yeah that it's already happened and it's hard like this season i wish i would have rang the bell for debbie gibson because i know
Starting point is 00:34:23 debbie from touring with donnie and she's you know a girl from our time but yeah um but sometimes you don't know for sure if it's that person so you're rolling the dice also on like you can't really pick your favorite because they're your friends or you know like right uh and then you have to have the other judges somewhat agree with you or they'll take you down right even though i can kick their asses any day for sure but you know if i look back if we had that bell thing late earlier on chris doctrine you guys don't kiss chris yeah of course yeah he came on our show and i still wish he would have won he was amazing i mean so good like he's one of those people that do you guys ever like youtube performances that stick stick with you like i'm constantly
Starting point is 00:35:07 looking at beyonce i'm like beyonce um he's one that i go back i'm asking her and constantly look at chris daughtry because he was he was like a goat to me who won that season uh wayne brady i believe he's also like so talented though you know that's really hard he was he was checking all the boxes he danced his ass off right and saying all different types of genres you know I mean, so it's like, how do you weigh that out? Oh, the genre. Well, what I think is cool about you is you're like, and now I'm going to put my entrepreneur hat on
Starting point is 00:35:42 and you created this company, Formless Beauty. Where'd you get the name from? I'm so glad you asked me that because not one person has asked me that question yet, but I'm a big Eckhart Tolle junkie. I love Eckhart Tolle. He's like a spiritual kind of guru guy. He also is really good for falling asleep at night.
Starting point is 00:36:01 if you ever listened to his audio book. But he talks about how, you know, inner beauty really has no form. It's, it's formless. And that's how I perceive beauty. It comes from within. So I know I'm doing a makeup line, which kind of counteracts, you know, what people say about beauty. I agree that it comes from within. So I named it formless. i love that that's so smart wow it all makes sense and and i love that you were you were concerned listen i would bet that if we did a tally on your deathbed of how many hours you've spent a makeup chair it is a lot we could have learned a hundred languages i told donnie i'm like i'm coming back as the dude next time because this is too much it's too much and so after all
Starting point is 00:36:55 these years everyone's oh this product this product this product this and you're like i would like to wear my own lip gloss and other products please it's i'll go into it because this is good ladies yeah i i'm a little bit of a um toxic phobic person like i'm i'm paranoid of like time trails and you know just the waters and i'm i'm just always ever since my son got sick it's made me a little bit more paranoid now people will go like yeah but you do botox i'm like yes it's there there's moments that you're gonna i have a drink also that's not good for you right so it's about making sure your barrel i call it like a toxic overload barrel at one point it's going to overflow and when it overflows hopefully it doesn't overflow but you hear things like
Starting point is 00:37:39 cancers um ms um uh you name it it's just uh it's just too much on the system so you try to keep them as low as possible and when i started looking into makeup i freaked out because this was the biggest shocker of them all do you know the last time they regulated makeup was 80 years ago i nearly crapped myself when i was looking into this because i was trying to find like clean beauty brands eight i'm like what do you mean 80 years ago was the last time they regulated makeup so who's making sure the ingredients are pure who's making sure that they're okay and i look more into it. They, they rely on the manufacturer, the manufacturer to be the one to be like, yeah, it's all good. Now, mind you, we're living in an age where everyone's about the shareholder and
Starting point is 00:38:27 profit. They care more about the profit than they do about the, the, the, the product. Also look at our regulatory agencies. Look what happened in Ohio. Like people don't give a crap. I shouldn't say people. There's a lot of people that give a crap, but there's a lot of these corporations that are not caring think about this so much makeup comes in from china okay we're relying on china to say that everything in there is up to par right you see moms tend to buy cheap makeup too for their kids um that would be the first i would not make sure that no makeup from china is going on my kid you know so this was something i dove into because i was like i don't need my hormones disrupted. I don't want asbestos in my eyeshadows and powders. I don't want lead. I don't
Starting point is 00:39:14 want formaldehyde. So I went down a rabbit hole and went very slowly in my creation of formless beauty. Cause I'm like, I'm going to do this right. I started with only three lip glosses for a reason. And then just removing into eyeshadows probably next month because I was terrified of all the asbestos that you can find the majority of eyeshadow has it because of the talc um it's a matter of if they're testing it or not and if they have it i would say find out if they do third-party testing you know do these companies that are selling imported makeup are they doing their own testing well it's crazy also because you if you go to a pharmacy in paris or in the UK, there's a lot of brands you cannot buy. You know what I mean? There's a lot of
Starting point is 00:40:05 products that are not available in Canada that are available in the States. And like, cause the, the regulations, there are none here, but in other places in the world, they do are, they are more intense about that. So it's huge. And Becca, you had brought this up like a few months ago. God's month. It's got a year ago that you like went through all your stuff. Yeah. I watched the documentary, um, about clean beauty. You guys are so smart. This younger generation to be looking up front of you with the older generation going, shit, man, I see what's happening. I'm looking at our regulatory agencies. I'm going to these companies looking for profit. I do mindful. And you guys are, you guys are very mindful generation. I'm not talking.
Starting point is 00:40:41 I love that you think we're so much younger than you. It's like two years. You're fine. You're just more successful than us. You've done more with your years. you just live more lives. I'm in my fifties. I feel old. You have lived so many lives. And so the plan with Formless is to, to continue like building out the, the products. Absolutely. Yeah. But I have to go, like, I've turned down so many creations. Like I keep sending it back to the lab and like better, better, better, because a lot of these clean companies, the market, sometimes the makeup is like not great. Right. Like, Oh, it doesn't give me the coverage I want. Right. So I am, I am determined in this lifetime by the time I croak to go, I feel so happy that I left
Starting point is 00:41:23 behind a makeup company where women go, I feel so good. I feel I can put on my lip gloss and eat it and worry about it. So I want to just like describe this to everyone. It's such a good consistency. There's a lot of real sticky shit out there, which is nice for a time and a place, but it's nice to just put a gloss on, not feel like you have a, like a, you know, someone like mac it's true well like you know like it's just it's a gloss it's not meant to be a spackle it's a gloss it's gloss it's gloss and it's very hydrating yeah a lot of those glosses i couldn't say because i'd be like i'd get that like goo on it this is very our biggest compliment our biggest five stars are about like thank you for not being sticky thank you for being

Starting point is 00:44:39 long term about this um i am a donnie girl and it's a problem i because you're married to him love it my first concert was new kids on the block and everyone i went to school with and this no offense to donnie but there were a lot of jordan girls like everyone loved the clean cut take home and i was like i love a bad boy and then i dated exclusively bad boys for like 20 years donnie was a bad boy he was the worst he was he was the one that you could not bring home to mom and so he still kind of has a vibe so like how did you break it to your family and your friends like you're like you know that infamous bad boy he's mine forever i think my mom knew by this age that i learned my lessons from people in the past and that i would only upgrade after that and i did
Starting point is 00:45:31 i literally told the universe i'm like bring me someone that's already cooked cooked meaning i don't have to teach them i don't have to downgrade my energy or my vibration uh because I was doing that a lot. I'd be like, oh, I got to, I got to bring myself. I got to put my wings smaller. I got to, I'm like, uh, the next person's going to love my bigness, my everything, the good, bad, and the ugly. And Donnie was it.
Starting point is 00:45:50 And he was a bad boy because when I was younger, I didn't date the bad boys in high school. I was the, I was a nerd. I was a nerd. I liked the nerdy boys. I liked that. And so Donnie, when I saw him at New Cause on the Block, I thought he was cute. i thought the the band was great but he i was like oh god he's probably gonna wind up in jail that was my he doesn't even do up both the straps of his overalls right breaker oh my god and now
Starting point is 00:46:20 he is now i think almost everybody's a down it girl right at least though because he's have you gone to a concert lately i went when they played um in anaheim and it was last time i saw them it was a new kids on the block and uh dining was it no backstreet boys and 98 degrees opened oh wow that was a good one you'll have to come back to uh they're going to be touring of course next summer but you guys it is it's just i i love it so much like i'm the biggest blockhead at the concerts i'm like don't talk to me i'm listening and then when donnie looks at me on stage i go like i literally i get such butterflies i'm like oh my god he's looking at me they're like yeah we know i love that engage she's getting married in september to a musician
Starting point is 00:47:08 i know i know the feeling like it doesn't get old it doesn't no it doesn't and he does this thing i don't think i've ever said this before but he does this thing where he's on stage and he'll like take a uh like a he'll go like this and he'll take a bow and arrow pretend and bling it to me where i'm right in the audience oh wait my fiance and i have something like that too he goes like this like he does a little finger and then like i do a little finger at him do you know why this is exciting for you guys because and i'm so jealous of this i on the few occasions if i'm ever out with my husband and i see a girl that may just think he's a little attractive. It really gets my gear. It gets me going. Cause I'm like, like getting the
Starting point is 00:47:52 validation from another woman that your man is hot or, you know, they're being desired. So you guys get that by like thousands of women, huge arenas, arena tours. And so you get to stand there and be like, there are at least, at least 30% of the women in here wish they were with my man right now so you that is like that keeps the spark alive forever oh yeah and i love his fans like their sisterhood like i i consider them like my best friends when i whenever i see them all the blockheads so they're just amazing the best army i know okay so much so this is the last question i'm dying to know have you ever made love to new kids on the block song oh that's a good question um are you ever listening to sex mix and then all of a sudden it's like
Starting point is 00:48:41 Oh, a thousand percent. Um, and I'm trying to remember the song. Uh, I think it was dirty dancing. Whoa. I love that showy song. So that would have been, Oh, that would have been so you're right. You're right. You're right. Um, okay. Well, I love this so much. Everyone. Uh, the ninth season of mess singer is airing right now.
