Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey guys, it's your Lady Gang, Jack Vanek, Kelty Knight, and Becca Tobin. Thank you so much for subscribing on iTunes, and thanks for supporting the great sponsors who make it possible for us to have this much fun with you every single week for free. Well, what is this? Welcome to the Lady Gang. That's amazing. Say that again. The Lady Gang.
Starting point is 00:00:20 Things are about to change around here. Each week, we catch up with Hollywood's hottest girl posse, Kelty Knight, Becca Tobin, and Jack Vanek. hello hello hello and welcome to the lady gang i'm becca tobin across from me is kelty knight to my right is jack vanek hi guys what's going on oh i'm so excited to be alive what really yeah what a time to be alive what a time it's like is there a certain thing that's exciting no just everything i'm just like feeling it well well then why not wait why waste any more time yeah and honestly i'm excited about my good week okay well let's move right into it it's time
Starting point is 00:00:58 for good week yes it is bad week oh no i never go first can i go first that's what i just said thank you obviously so guys i have something to tell you and i'm not sure if it's embarrassing it's not embarrassing to me but my good week this week is that i wait i love that your good week is something that's questionably embarrassing yeah i know i love with my full heart non-ironic card the new backstreet boys song and the new backstreet boys video they have a video okay it's their first song i guess it went like number one in a whole bunch of countries um nick carter was supposed to come on this podcast no aj and then he canceled so aj i'm giving you free publicity right now you better come back to the lady gang but anyway point being
Starting point is 00:01:44 it's called don't go breaking my heart but it's very good it's a smash and then the video is not disappointing okay the worst thing is like an old backstreet boys video yes yes yes watch his music because i follow them on twitter and they posted it got it no i didn't have to for my job this was for my own enjoyment there's nothing worse than like old guys trying to like do the young trends right like lasers and like that like suddenly they have like dj yeah it's like no they went like this is an old school this could have been the single after i want it that way and it could have been the video after i want it that way like love it's just them they are soundstage yeah no but like but with better clothes now really wrinkly kevin's wearing a bucket hat which is
Starting point is 00:02:28 like no i appreciate from him because it's questionable kevin oh my god he is like bucket hat he is the bucket hat yeah he is the bucket hat so he's wearing a bucket hat anyway it's a great video you should go watch it and they're how we had a major glob then i was talking about loving it on the facebook group and then some girls like did you see the documentary so then like i'm at the royal wedding and i have so many things to do i'm in london i could be having a Fabulous time. And, like, I'm in my hotel room watching the three-year-old Baxter Boys documentary, which is amazing. That is sad.
Starting point is 00:02:56 That is sad. Anyway, okay. Is that your bad week? Bad week. No, bad week. Chris Knight, my husband, is a major fan of the Lady Gang. Yeah. He listens to every episode.
Starting point is 00:03:04 Shout out, Chris. Hey, Chris. Hey, Chris. Swoon. So he, I got back from London, and he's, like, the quickie. The one I do by myself. Oh, no. He didn't like it?
Starting point is 00:03:16 I liked it. I did this Royal Wedding quickie by myself, and he goes, it wasn't good. And he goes, and I said, well, he's like, it just started off, and like, it just wasn't funny. And then he goes, I don't have to be honest, I turned it off. I listened. I liked it. It was a very 50-50. I did it in the middle of the night, as you guys know.
Starting point is 00:03:36 You got some slack for it, but then you got a lot of people that were like, totally thought it was amazing. Yeah, people on Facebook were like, I was being really mean to Meghan Markle. Catty. And it's fine. I was, but I stand behind my decision that I thought she shouldn't have those flyaways. Listen, it's not being catty if you're just giving your opinion of what you thought. And it was a... But I think I was so tired and worn out and, like, over the royal wedding at that point,
Starting point is 00:03:56 like, I had been living it for two weeks straight, that I was like, the dress, I just could not, like, maybe I should have just been a little nicer. I don't know. Anyway, listen, she, Meghan Markle doesn't care what you think about her dress. She cares zero percent. And guess what? Kristen liked it. That is...
Starting point is 00:04:11 And that's all that matters to me. That's hilarious. Because I secretly get a happiness when Chris is like, episode was good today or whatever. You know what I mean? Yeah. Well, my husband doesn't even listen, so. Well, I don't have a husband, so. There's that.
Starting point is 00:04:23 I think I lose in this situation. I actually have a theory that, like, Zach does listen, but he wants to tell me he doesn't because he's hoping I'll, like, let something slide, like some incriminating information. Does he ever? When you start talking about your other boyfriend and stuff? Yeah, yeah. Well, so this has happened. I can't remember if this was my ex or somebody that I had dated that said that they didn't
Starting point is 00:04:40 listen to it, but then, like, mentioned something. that was only a date it was a date you told us oh it was a date but see i understand that because when you're going on a date with somebody it's always better to err on the side of pretending like you didn't stalk them oh yeah but you should always talk to the beginning of their instagram like megan did with harry she's like i don't know about the royals i'm like girl you got a picture in front of buckingham palace when you're 12 there's a video of her pretending to be the queen there is yeah oh that's a little girl but in the bbc episode when they interview when they got engage yeah they they the interviewer was like do you understand what it means to join the royal
Starting point is 00:05:13 family and she's like honestly i'm from america we just don't follow the royals like yeah right let's not be catty god everybody's don't be taking care of megan markle i wish i had some crusaders out there when people were trashing my wedding when my own friends were trashing my wedding please at the wedding at the wedding yeah you're welcome for that dinner at the amman property you're welcome whatever i loved your wedding i love you and we had a blast thank you um i could have lost elaine but whatever elaine had a great time she wasn't there um jack okay i'll go um so if anybody is following me on instagram you know i just went to hawaii obviously what's in hawaii you should like my post yeah that's weird i have like a lot of
Starting point is 00:05:56 bikinis um so my good week is that you went to hawaii no our lady gang facebook group has helped so many girls find friends like in a new city or like if they're going through a hard time or whatever we've connected like a lot of girls together I made a friend through our Lady Gang Facebook group and she is a good enough
Starting point is 00:06:17 such a good friend to me now that she came to Hawaii with me and I haven't made a new friend in 10 years so it brought me what wait so if I'm in the Lady Gang Facebook group I could become real life friends with you you could that's like the dream I know it's like dreams coming through true it nobody invite me to go to hawaii did you get an invite becca i didn't
Starting point is 00:06:36 sorry bitches no but it's it's pretty great because she's a wonderful awesome person and i am so adamantly against making new friends like i am a no new friends type of girl and i always have been for like 15 years and it was awesome to make a new friend that is like great from the facebook group so it's helping us good you know um proud of you bad week bikini rash bad week Because I still have a sea urchin stuck in my foot. Yes. Tell us about this. The bite of Jack's foot.
Starting point is 00:07:02 I stepped on a sea urchin. That's crazy. The first day I was in Hawaii. Maybe the first 12 hours I was in Hawaii on my birthday. And it wasn't just one little prong. I have like 20 sea urchin prongs stuck in the bottom of my foot. You can't take them out because if you pull them out, they have like little spikes in them that go further into your, farther into your foot.
Starting point is 00:07:20 And. What if you baby foot them? Oh, maybe. But the thing that you're supposed to do is soak your foot in vinegar. so I was walking around Hawaii with a jug of vinegar and every time we'd go to a bar, I had to put my foot in a bag full of vinegar. Nothing smells worse than vinegar. Oh, yeah. Did they come out yet?
Starting point is 00:07:35 Nope. Still in there. Uh-uh. I don't think they're coming out. They're still, like, fully in there. Do baby foot. Does it hurt? Yeah. How can you walk? Do baby foot. It's getting better. I think I should do baby foot. I think you should do a baby foot. Can you document that? Oh, I will. And then they need to sponsor a podcast. I think so much, like, so much
Starting point is 00:07:51 dead skin will come out that some of it will be exposed and you might be able to snip them off. Right. less and less well they said to shave them off like you're supposed to shave the bottom of your foot first that's why yeah yeah oh my god baby foot dr kelty and becca are in the house they need to stop like their seo so like searshan comes up for baby foot oh yeah you're right oh my gosh we could be on the brink of something fabulous speaking could be but we're not speaking of something fabulous so um i've really been into my house lately everybody knows so great because a my poop explosion in my basement well with the poop explosion in my basement even though
Starting point is 00:08:26 insurance helped a lot a good percentage of that i still came out of pocket for some stuff and so the last thing on my list of things i needed for my house was something a really good like patio furniture um because i have this really cute brick courtyard and i've had like bullshit like terrible chairs out there just terrible things out there because it's it's like expensive yeah patio furniture and you're like why am i gonna spend money on something that sits outside and gets ruined by the sun yeah i found a really good company yep this is not sponsored it's called yard bird and it's yard bird yeah it's newish but they do the whole thing where they cut out the middleman and so the prices are like a wayfarer kind of thing it's like great prices really cute
Starting point is 00:09:10 stuff because i also had trouble finding something that i liked also because you're a picky bitch i'm picky it's uh it there's stuff like it's just it's cute it's great it's inexpensive and also zach has been threatening to build a fire pit in our backyard in the hollywood hills high fire like you do not do open flame like you know homemade fire pits no in the hills poor georgia boy still just like couldn't get over it to make us trying to hold on guess what i did for him I got him a fire table they have a fire table with the patio furniture
Starting point is 00:09:45 so it's like contained and it's a table where you turn it on and fire comes out so you can have a fire outside like a fire pit but it's not a pit yeah it's gas but it's just a table it's called a fire table and so I really like saved the hills from burning
Starting point is 00:10:02 you're welcome Hollywood you're welcome Alicia Silverstone I feel like a freaking hero So, yeah, Alicia Silverstone is probably really thrilled that I did this. But it's really cute, and it's really cute furniture. You should check it out. It's Yardbird. I really like promoting things I like.
Starting point is 00:10:16 Great. Tell them to give me some. Yeah, me too. And Kelty would like some patio furniture, and so would Jack. For her patio. For her balcony. Listen, I'm moving. I have a patio one day.
Starting point is 00:10:25 Oh, shit. Okay. Moving on. Are you guys ready for my bad week? Ready. Okay. Okay. So I take voice lessons occasionally when I have a project come up where I have to sing
Starting point is 00:10:35 again. and at my voice lessons my voice teacher will record my warm-ups and my lesson on a cd so i will go like don't worry becca i know all about this i used to do it my singing lesson yeah you know so i actually also used to sing this is so embarrassing for all of us so i you're the only one still singing though i never could so sort of um so i have my lessons on cds and i because the only place i can practice singing is in my car and thank god my car is a cd player still um yeah why don't they put him on like a like a flash drive i don't know but he's old school and it works for me because i like singing in my car nobody is the wiser and it's it's like warm-ups
Starting point is 00:11:17 it's like and you do weird things in voice lessons you do warm-ups that are like and like weird embarrassing things i traded my car in last week or zach did because i was in canada still and zach traded in my car because my lease was up guess what was left in the car no becca tobin voice lesson no date did they send it back no someone has it this is how i think this is how i realized did it just turn on when he started the car no it's even worse we get into zach's new car and we hear this weird noise and i'm like it sounds like it's a cd player did somebody leave a cd player in this car that would be amazing and then as soon as i reached for the cd player i suddenly realized i left a cd in my car and it's me singing like i'm a strangled whale
Starting point is 00:12:11 not good and with my full name on the cd player i mean on the cd but like whoever gets that audi a4 in LA. It's at Audi Beverly Hills. Please tell me if you hear my voice lesson. That's amazing. Or keep it in eBay when you're just an A-list celebrity. It's the stuff that's like... The fappening can now have a soundtrack.
Starting point is 00:12:35 Here's the thing. I felt more vulnerable about a voice lesson being out there than a nude photo. That's how weird it is. It's invasive. It is very invasive. So that's my bad week. Hopefully somebody finds it. Alright, well, coming up. Who's coming? A little youngster. The youngster.
Starting point is 00:12:51 A youngster. A little youngster. You're listening to The Lady Gang. Our guest today has appeared opposite Selena Gomez, Adam Sandler, Zach Braff, Channing Tatum, and more. She got her first gig at age four, and she even starred in Taylor Swift's music video for All You Gonna Be Is Me. She got a super cute Aussie boyfriend, a killer sense of style, and the prettiest goddamn eyes you've ever seen. Please welcome to The Lady Gang, Joey King. Welcome.
Starting point is 00:13:19 Hi. Now you can talk. Hey. You may speak. Oh, my God. I know that. I'm going to listen to this later and be like, why do I sound like that? Always.
Starting point is 00:13:26 Oh, my God. It's the worst. It's like you just sound like, you think you sound like the biggest idiot in the entire world. I know. I think I sound like the biggest idiot, like, without listening to my voice in a recording already. Well, get ready. It's going to be like times ten. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:37 And you're next to us, so it's just like a lot of. I mean, and Joy, the truth is, is that, you know, I have been interviewing you for many years on the shows and stuff. but i invited you here for one question and i'm gonna start with it what is going on with the youngsters what's cool what's cool what are you doing she's 18 she's 18 you guys are asking me i tell us what's cool girl what what are like those why don't i just swag words do you feel better joey's wearing overalls you're wearing overalls you're cool it's like kind of an overall it's like a it's like talbots version of an overall talbots it's like literally up to her neck it's the oprah magazine version it's actually up to your neck oh my god you were sitting weird
Starting point is 00:14:17 um well let me ask you a question about your generation which is considered what's their name gen z is that what we are yeah i don't know oh i have a question after just younger than me period um by a lot period by over a decade i hear that the youngsters okay is this gonna be about finstagrams nope oh you guys do a lot of communicating on apps like on snapchat and instagram okay so more than texting more than texting for me personally that is false but i okay first i i don't mean to like like like smash a brand or anything but i don't really use snapchat anymore see does anybody um and it just dropped the other 110 million kyle jenner no it just it kind of just it changed a lot it had its time yeah i you know what my favorite thing is i
Starting point is 00:15:04 like to use instagram for um like freaking no memes are my life right who doesn't love a good meme do you call jack wisdom i have my own meme account you have your own meme yes you know anybody can have a meme account i love memes so it is true that like i like in throughout the day periodically i will dm my sisters and my friends like all the memes that are good and the meme is the new nude no i don't think the nude was ever new the new black yeah all right so that's so that's what's going on with the extra wait do you have a finstagram of course i do what is that it's a fake instagram that like is private that only like your friends like and your family you have like 20 people that that's what a lot of kids do it to post naughty pictures they're doing like
Starting point is 00:15:54 i follow some of those friends who are mine yeah it's the naughty like naughties the not kind of naughty like smoking weed and like like slutty pictures doing doing the weed she's openly yeah you are just purely yourself also really so i have a friend who has a 16 year old uh stepsister or half sister half sister and she is almost my friend is almost 40 and she was like look at what blah blah blah posted today she's 16 and it was a thong bikini and she goes the worst part is she gave photo credit and it's her little brother oh my god that's so funny oh my god kids these days kids these days my my little cousin is uh 14 and he showed me a picture of this girl he likes from school and i was like oh i'm so excited to see her like my cousin's
Starting point is 00:16:49 opening up to me and like i thought she was my age i mean she was beautiful and everything and like a full glam it was like amazing it's insane but you're also i did not know how to do makeup like that at 14 you guys don't go i feel like kids don't go through awkward phases anymore i totally like did you have one at all oh yeah oh my god i didn't i saw you during kelty's known you the entire time like i think i have a photo obviously this is a podcast so no one can see it but um it's a photo of me um because i shaved my head a couple times for different roles and like i let my hair grow out of course and one time i didn't really do anything to my hair i just kind of let it grow and i had this phase where i looked like um i don't know
Starting point is 00:17:29 if anyone remembers this show but i looked like coconut head from ned's declassified school survival guide i don't know what that is but that's number one i don't know that show and number two i don't want to know that show it's so good so i mean like it's it's like a old nickelodeon show and it was so great and coconut head grew up to be a total babe but like whatever yeah um i looked like coconut head and i i mean during like when i was like 13 14 was like it was probably like my worst but here's the other thing you have to understand about joey is that yes she is 18 but she's 18 in hollywood years and like that's like dog years you're like 100 you know what i mean she's 80 she's an 80 year old woman she's i guarantee you have a set cardigan that you like
Starting point is 00:18:07 throw a jacket a sweater over that comes with you to all your sets for what i thought you were like speaking in tongues like a set jacket you have like an old lady slipper that you You can walk around set in, keep your feeties warm. I have flip, yeah, my Javiana's on my flip flops. Yeah, she's, yeah, she's an old lady. Because when you live in Hollywood and you're around all these people all the time, you're old for your age. I think my old thing, like, as I'm always cold all the time, that's like my old lady
Starting point is 00:18:32 thing. Before we, okay, we're going to move on and not talk about how much younger and more vibrant you are than all of us. But before we move on. You guys are pretty vibrant. I don't know. There's a lot of Botox. But on that note, please don't fuck with your face, okay?
Starting point is 00:18:45 Don't mess with your face. Joey King. You have such a perfect face. Raise your right hand. Put your right hand up. I really put your right hand up. On behalf of Young Hollywood. On behalf of Young Hollywood.
Starting point is 00:18:55 I, beautiful, vibrant Joey King. I'm not going to say that. Come on. I, beautiful, vibrant Joey King. Promise. Promise. Promise. Not to.
Starting point is 00:19:06 Not to. Screw with my face. With my face. Yes, thank you. Not to screw with my face. And to. And to. Be grateful for the perfect face I already have.
Starting point is 00:19:15 Be grateful for the face irony of it. And not drink the weird Hollywood juice and think that I can always improve. You don't need an ass implant either. It's a mouthful. And not drink the weird Hollywood juice and think that you're perfect. Listen, you're perfect. No ass implants. No ass implants.
Starting point is 00:19:30 All right, good. Just got to do those squats. You know what I mean? Yeah. It's like a healthy balance of squats and French fries. Yes. I agree. That's how you get a good body.
Starting point is 00:19:37 You need to write that down. That's what we teach you. A healthy balance of squats and French fries. Okay. Yes. I love that. Okay. Next topic.
Starting point is 00:19:43 I mean, I'm so glad we came here to talk about your work. Before we talk about your work, I have got to ask you about your man. Okay. He is hot. I was like, I was looking at, I was like, like stalking you a little bit before this interview and I was like, oh, you know, what are we going to talk about? And then I was just like, her boyfriend. Got it.
Starting point is 00:20:03 Oh my God. I was just like, slow clap. You got a slow clap. I'm just joking. Oh my God, guys. Okay, where did you meet? And he has an accent. And he's so tall.
Starting point is 00:20:11 Who is he? Tell us everything. He's so tall. All right, I'll give you the scoop. I'll give you the insider we met actually on our movie The Kissing Booth and that's how we met we worked together
Starting point is 00:20:22 in South Africa for two months and we became like best friends and then you know and then we were like oh best friends more like not best friends anymore I think you're pretty cool so you know what's up
Starting point is 00:20:37 and yeah he's Australian and I went to Australia with him over, like, the holidays, which was, for the first time in my whole life, it was so much fun. His family's so great, and it was just, ah, he's, like, he's, he's adorable. He's great. Did you go to the kangaroo sanctuary where they got... Yes.
Starting point is 00:20:53 No, you did not. Yes. You had all the baby kangaroos? Yeah. I went to the, um... That sounds amazing. ...Steverwood Zoo, the Israeli Zoo, and I got to, I got to hold a koala. The koala shit on me.
Starting point is 00:21:03 Okay. I've been to that zoo, too. How not soft are koalas? Like, I feel like you expect them to be the cuddliest thing ever, and they're, like, spiky and kind of yeah they're kind of like wool yeah it feels like it's like a not so comfy sweater it's not as they're so cute they're adorable they're so and they're high you know i'm sure like i don't know if this is whatever i'm already talking about it did you know that all koalas like a lot of koalas like a nice percentage of them have chlamydia yes i didn't know that yes isn't
Starting point is 00:21:31 jack knows about all the stds that is a fun fact only in animals oh yeah even better do they not give them can't you take like a z-pack for that right now just rub a cream on it and it goes away did they warn you were they like we know you're a famous actress from hollywood don't touch the vagina she has chlamydia no i don't hold her there joey i like i knew this like way before i went and i just don't know why i looked this up or found out about it like who the hell knows right i was down some rabbit hole right youtube and i just read it rabbit hole or something yeah And so, like, I found that out, and then, like, I held this koala, and it pooped on me, and I was like, oh, my God, no.
Starting point is 00:22:11 Did you get chlamydia? It's funny you ask. She's like, I did, but not from the koala. So I was dumping the pill. Okay, well, then this leads me to a great segue to actually talk about your work. So you have a new movie, The Kissing Booth. It's a really good segue. Do you like it?
Starting point is 00:22:26 Yeah, yeah, yeah. Chlamydia to, no, she's talking about her boyfriend they met on the movie. Now we're going back to you. Now we're talking about chlamydia. Segue, it was a reach. Yeah, okay. See, I thought you were, like, being sarcastic that the segue was so bad. No, I said it was good.
Starting point is 00:22:38 No, no. Anyways, continue. Okay. The kissing booth. Anyway, tell me about the movie. Oh. So you filmed it in? We filmed it in South Africa.
Starting point is 00:22:45 Oh, romantic. For Los Angeles, which is funny. The movie is based in Los Angeles, but it's just, like, cheaper to film in South Africa. Yeah, they're doing a lot there. And, like, I was not going to complain about going to any place that's, like, the most beautiful and amazing. And so, I mean, I'm just so excited. People are going, like, people are loving it.
Starting point is 00:23:04 I'm, like, freaking out because I'm so excited. I did not expect the audience reaction to be like this. I was just, you know, I was hoping it would do well. But, I mean, the fact that it's doing so well and that I had the best time of my life filming it, it's just, like, a win-win-win. I'm just so, so excited. And you got a hot boyfriend on there. Yeah. Do you think this is your notebook?
Starting point is 00:23:25 Do you think this is your notebook? I mean, like, I don't want to sound conceited or anything, but I mean, I'm kind of like, I feel like, like, The No Big is so freaking, like, that's just untouchable. Yeah, but they fell in love on it. Yeah, but now they're not together anymore. I wasn't going to say that part. Like, maybe you didn't notice. There's so many other examples of people that have met last. Like Mr. and Mrs. Smith.
Starting point is 00:23:47 No. Even I know they're broken up. okay um based on the your new movie um we're gonna do something where and i we've been doing this podcast now for two and a half years i feel like i know more about becca tobin's butthole than i do about most of my friends and so she could but i had to text them and i was like hey joey she's in this movie the kissing booth and i thought it'd be fun if we talk about our first kiss have we talked about it before and we're like no we haven't so you're welcome listeners take it away becca tobin describe it use a neurotic voice or narrator voice
Starting point is 00:24:19 no like a narrative like neurotic so i was no that's not a good voice i'm trying to think of the details um i think i was in 12 i was 12 this is riveting what grade are you in when you're 12 like seventh sixth yeah six or seventh grade should not be kissing at that age anyways that was advanced okay okay i had this boyfriend named blake and i thought blake and i were gonna live a life together forever he was my soulmate of course his name was blake douglas he still sends me messages on my birthday oh isn't that weird yeah because it's you know those first yeah birthdays that you remember it's stuck there anyways so blake and i were madly in love
Starting point is 00:25:14 and I knew it was coming I knew that it event it was it was inevitable we were gonna have to kiss if he was my boyfriend we were gonna have like children later and oh my god so it's like the hand holding is getting really intense at that point yeah so I remember my parents were gone and I had friends over not like out of town I was 12 for god's sake they were like at the grocery store and I had friends over and there were like four boys and three girls and I just knew that this was his time and i knew he was planning it and so i just kept running away from him because i was so nervous i just i wanted to do it but i was too nervous so finally he trapped me yes you know trapped in a romantic way and and it happened and it was the most aggressive oh no oh god tongue
Starting point is 00:25:59 thrusting no was it his first kiss it was his first kiss so it was just a line and it was a log a tongue there's nothing worse than a tongue log it was so aggressive and so messy and like i just it was terrible it was terrible never good yeah like jack blake okay mine was i was 16 i was a late bloomer my first kiss because everybody else had lost their virginity by the time i had my first kiss yeah i was i was i was with you i was good yeah see nobody needs to be kissing before i was late i was 15 but yeah so i was in salt lake city utah i was on this thing called swat which was summer winter action sports summer winter action something with a t of course you were oh my god basically it was a snowboarding trip but it was where kids would go to get like
Starting point is 00:26:48 fucked up and smoke weed for the first time and like drink and whatever so i'm there staying at my hotel room i meet this guy in the hall who was 24 he was a bartender at a local salt lake city bar which you know there are not a lot of those he was running away from his girlfriend i feel like you've told us this story i can't tell him it's illegal i know i think that's what she said last time she told this story you guys okay anyways he was running away from his girlfriend somehow he ends up in my hotel room and we're like sitting in the back because her parents found out and that he was going to go to jail. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:27:27 So we're sitting, like, behind the door. He's, like, looking under the door to see where she is to try to hide from her. And then he leans in, makes out with me. Wasn't the worst makeout I've ever had. But then he goes to leave and then writes his number on my mirror in lipstick. This is the most bizarre story I've ever heard.
Starting point is 00:27:46 Welcome to Jack Bannock. Bizarre. But when you said running away from his girlfriend, I thought you meant, like, he left town. No, he was physically running away from her in the hallway because he wanted to make out with a 16-year-old. Yes. Creep.
Starting point is 00:27:58 Yes. Okay, great. Oh, and you know what? You let him in? Oh, yeah. Well, and I thought it, I was so, I was like, oh my God, this guy is older. He's so sophisticated. Was your door just open when he was running by?
Starting point is 00:28:09 Like, was he like, someone open the door. I'm like, I got you. I hope a 16-year-old opens up. No, we had like, I had met him like in the hallway before. Sorry. and then we'd happen to cross paths and he was like oh can I come hide in your room so but of course I leave
Starting point is 00:28:24 he leaves and I'm like oh my god this guy is so hot and he's older and I'm like and the whole like lipstick on the mirror I thought was romantic gross about your choice of men oh my god like Jess is up because of her first kiss I think so
Starting point is 00:28:39 that's amazing well thank you okay well I was in 6th grade and I lived three doors down from Gark. You were in 6th grade? Yeah. See? What a whore. Listen. Listen. When you're hot, you're hot.
Starting point is 00:28:56 Shut up. When you don't have an awkward face, you just don't. No, I can't much longer. It came in when my senior year of high school when I didn't have all my teeth in my graduation photo. My face was like in her late 20s. My face is now, okay? I lost all my teeth when I was 9.
Starting point is 00:29:12 Like at once. So weird. Isn't that late? yeah no wait that's early i feel like i was like periodically lose them later yeah i know i think that's around the time you're supposed to lose your teeth but like in an extended period right let's get back to me and not joey's dental records this is more interesting to me though however continue okay you were in canada i lived three doors down from a place called gark glen allen recreation center it's jesus they couldn't have a more basically a curling rink and a skate ice skating like indoors because it's so cold where i grew up that you couldn't like go outside
Starting point is 00:29:47 and so every friday night from like six to seven or seven to eight i can't remember was the public skate and we'd all go on skate dates okay we'd all meet at the gark and we go for we just go zoom around for an hour oh my god and my parents were out doing something hi mom you're not supposed to be listening to my podcast um because you know she's listening and at the back door of my house jared allen with his middle part leo DiCaprio, Romeo and Juliet, Juliet,
Starting point is 00:30:15 came into me at the lobby of the back door. At the Gark. No, at my house. I'm like, we gotta stop talking about the Gark.
Starting point is 00:30:25 It's like making me nauseous. He didn't pick me up. He lived in the neighborhood so he walked me from the house to the Gark and he kissed me in his puffy jacket
Starting point is 00:30:31 and it's like, you remember that like perfectly? Was it a good kiss? Yeah, it was like, yeah, Leo. No, I mean, it was like,
Starting point is 00:30:37 it was fine. It was a Gark kiss. I don't really remember. It was a Gark kiss. What do you expect for your first kiss oh my god so what did you write in your diet no um my first kiss was uh 15 and it's nothing like i was on set that's basically it like i was a co-star my first kiss was a co-star i was i think i i thought i was gonna die i was so nervous i thought i was
Starting point is 00:31:00 going to genuinely die i was that nervous i thought maybe my heart would beat out of my chest i was so scared um my kiss was with keegan allen wait do you know who that is of course everyone does he's that book of photography so artsy he was on pretty little liars and he played toby i don't know i don't know who that is so you guys are so old but he like tell me more he like he was he was so so sweet and everything and um it wasn't his first kiss right he was no he was i was i was wait no wait was i 14 i was 14 i was not 15 how old was he 21 26 26 yeah but it's hollywood uh well yeah it was a very it was a very um wait he asked for permission to kiss you in the movie we had to kiss like oh your first kiss was when you're filming yes yes it was on
Starting point is 00:31:51 set in a movie and welcome back jack i did yeah i thought well i was gonna ask her i was like is in between scenes and he like put you in a corner sorry guys no he he's great and he didn't know wait do they know the legality of it hold on mom when a 26 year old man wants to kiss your 14 year old daughter on set do you have to say yes um i was right there she was right there she watched okay like somebody has to give consent i told her i was like you can't watch mom she hid in a bush there's nothing more awkward than your mom watching your first kiss it's worse to kiss in front of your mom yeah no it was it was horrible so i was so oh god it was terrible no offense keegan i love you we're still friends but he um so yeah he didn't know it was my first
Starting point is 00:32:35 kiss and then someone told him and i because i told everyone on set i was like please don't tell him because that's gonna be really like really awkward for me and really awkward for him like who wants to give a 14 year old her first kiss when you're like her first anything like a 20s man was it a was it a peck or a whole make out make out situation and oh my gosh yeah it wasn't supposed to be a project was this it's okay it was great it was a great project but i was just you know it was just very um it was great but i he he found out and he was like oh my god like am i really is this like really what's about to happen i was like yeah um i'm really scared he's like now i'm scared because i don't want to it up for you and it was but it was bad i mean he had to be like
Starting point is 00:33:18 smoking cigarettes in the scene and then we made out and then like it was just like really it was really not good um but he's he and i are still friends have you watched the kiss in the movie oh my god yes and it i like screamed when i saw it because i like i like now i know how to kiss something like but i was such a i was so stiff like we were supposed to be in love it was passionate it was beautiful and i was like this i was like a stiff board and i was like that was probably my like least proud moment in my acting i was like i was like that bitch doesn't know how like, kiss. She sucks. There's no worse insult, you know?
Starting point is 00:33:55 Just to, like, you know, future employers, I know I can kiss someone now. Don't watch that project if you're casting Joey in anything romantic. I can kiss somebody now. I feel like you probably did okay considering in a movie called The Kissing Booth. Yeah, clearly I stuff in my game, guys.
Starting point is 00:34:11 I know how to kiss. That's a pretty good story. Okay, our girls love celebrities, so before we go to our Ask Lady section, I want to play a one-word game with everyone. I love games. What word? Okay, so I'm going to, everyone's looking, I'm going a little off script.
Starting point is 00:34:26 I'm going to give, who am I? I'm going to give Joey and the girls each one a name of one of her co-stars, and I want you to describe them in one word. Of my co-stars? Yeah. Am I going to know who they are? Okay. Jack, if you don't know who they are, you're just going to say, don't know who that is.
Starting point is 00:34:42 Yeah, yeah, yeah. Jack knows nothing about Hollywood, which is what makes her so into it. That's great. Awesome. She knows about state drinking and bikinis. Oh my God. she's still like she's like
Starting point is 00:34:51 like Leo and I'm like Leo's 85 now Leo's 85 I was like my celebrity crush is Leo during Romeo and Juliet
Starting point is 00:34:58 Leo was literally in Antarctica with the penguins he doesn't make movies anymore I love him so much listen I saw that movie of his
Starting point is 00:35:03 whatever the one it was it wasn't penguins it was Romeo and Juliet that was 1995 I saw his documentary about global warming okay are you ready
Starting point is 00:35:12 yeah you start so yeah okay are you ready Adam Sandler oh god I was so young when we worked together
Starting point is 00:35:20 I really barely remember it. It's a one-word game, Joey. Underrated. I mean, overrated. Sorry. I think he's charming. Charming? Overrated.
Starting point is 00:35:32 Happy. Zach Braff. Funniest. Funniest. Because that's one word. Funniest. I'm going between two. Okay.
Starting point is 00:35:48 Same book. He gives me a little twinge of, like, arrogance, but, like, in a hot way because he's so cerebral. Yeah. Oh. He's like a confident, like, the most confident Jew. Dork. Yes. Confident Jew.
Starting point is 00:36:01 Next to me. And I can say that. Yeah, you're Jewish, too? Hey, what's up? Are you part of the tribe? Yeah. Otherwise, I wouldn't have said that. That's the best thing.
Starting point is 00:36:08 Oh, gosh. You're right. You cannot say that. I wasn't going to say it. Okay. Jack? Eclectic. Eclectic.
Starting point is 00:36:15 I'm going to say it. Oh, my God. What are we on HGTV? This is amazing. I'm going to say maybe. Believes in himself. One word, Kelsey.
Starting point is 00:36:26 Confident. You made this game. Overly confident. What kind of game is this? Confident. There we go. Oh my gosh. Playful.
Starting point is 00:36:39 You hate Channing. White trash one or two words. Oh my god. I like him a lot, but I just see Tampa. Like, bedazzled jeans. And, like, a trucker hat. Are you, like, feeling, like, Ed Hardy vibes from him?
Starting point is 00:36:56 Like, Ed Hardy. He has a cargo short in every color, including black. Yes, yes, yes. He has many camo cargo shorts. Like, I can see him in, like, an orange cargo short. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 00:37:08 Tampa is your word. Tampa. That's hilarious. Him and his wife got a divorce, right? I know. They're going through one. Yeah. Call me.
Starting point is 00:37:15 Oh, my God, Jack. I'm going to say, and I'm using a hyphen to make it work, square head. I was going to say block head. Block neck. What? He has that head. Oh, my God. He has, like, Bart Simpson's head shape.
Starting point is 00:37:28 He's like, I love a block head. This is the first, like, group of women I've ever been around that when I say I work with Channing Tatum, they're not like, no, he's so hot. I think he's hot as f***. Okay, well, then there's one. There we go. I think he has a block head. But I love a block head. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:37:43 You do? That's a type. I feel like it's very masculine. Meaty. Yeah. I love a meaty. I love like just a big bag of meat. He's a very protein-y guy.
Starting point is 00:37:51 You could date John Cena. I kind of want to say that word. But he's still in love with Nikki Bella. Protein-y is good. He's still in love with her. She just created an adjective. He's protein-y. Protein-y.
Starting point is 00:38:01 Yes, that's you. He's so protein-y. Okay, last one. Selena. Oh. Of the G-Mez. Role model. Oh.
Starting point is 00:38:09 That's two words, but whatever. Screw this game. Trailblazer. Oh, I like it. I thought you were about to do, like, another Channing Tatum and be like, trailer trash. Trailer trash. Tramp, bitch. I'm just kidding.
Starting point is 00:38:24 I'd say brave for dealing with all of her shit with grace. Yeah. I would say, I'm going to use four hyphens, more than meets the eye. I think there's a lot more there that she doesn't like. Why don't you say depth? Ooh, depth. Depth. Hold my hand.
Starting point is 00:38:38 Let me hold your hand. Depth. You're welcome. She's so great. I really love her. I'm into her. We love her, too. When we come back, you're going to help us fix our lives.
Starting point is 00:38:45 Okay. and we're back um so we have we have this thing called ask lady gang where our listeners are writing in questions and we give them questionable i thought you said ask lady gang i thought you said ass lady gang like about asses like where we just talked about that would have been in the part before this is now a really deep inspirational motivational part let me switch gears yes switch gears switch gears oh shit guys jack just put on her glasses i know that means she's just blind history you see how blind i am look at this she's switching gears yeah those were those she's switching into thoughtful gears yeah and now i'm an intellectual cerebral cerebral so
Starting point is 00:39:25 eclectic is that how you describe me she's so eclectic you can just put this fake fruit in this tiny bowl and just have it out and people won't even know it's fake except everyone will go to get an apple and it's plastic what are you talking about i'm talking about hgtv in general okay we're on dgtv again okay first question comes from jackie it's not me okay obviously uh jackie says because you can tell from this my ex and i dated for a year and a half and i broke up with him two months ago i moved out to la less than two weeks ago for work he always should talk to california and was only planning to move because of me but now i found out he's moving to la for a job and we are from south dakota he could have applied for a non-profit in any other city but
Starting point is 00:40:08 i feel like this is borderline stalkerish i'm frustrated because the entire situation makes me physically and mentally ill i hate that his actions still have power on me over me what should i do oh jeez man i once had a stalker oh my god no i had a boyfriend in high school shout out to chief are you shouting out your stalker that's not really how you get rid of a stalker what's his new stalker he's forgotten about you I can't wait for Chief to clear this up for us Chief has forgotten about Kelty
Starting point is 00:40:41 somebody's gonna tell him that she talked about him on the podcast and he's gonna get back no there's no way he could are you sure anyway I had this boyfriend and he was like my first like kind of serious boyfriend and had a car and it was like whatever and we worked at Little Caesars Pizza together
Starting point is 00:40:57 and when we broke up I was like I don't want to date you anymore he would like drive up and down my street oh i had one that did that yeah well that's not that's kind of like that's just being a girl that's what happens when you do right yeah okay fine well i thought i was exciting that's literally just an ex-boyfriend the most exciting part about that story was that you were at a pizza place or that you probably got free pizza or that his name is chief not now chief well he had another name but people called him fast forward like 10 years
Starting point is 00:41:29 It's going to be like, Joey King gave birth to a little boy named Chief. Chief King. Okay. Anyway, here's what I think you should do. You should ignore him. Don't tell him where you live. Change your phone number. L.A. is a big city.
Starting point is 00:41:42 And if he wants to be a creepo creep and follow you across the country, you can let him. But do not contact him and have nothing to do with him. It sounds like one of those things where you are clearly, Jackie, clearly sounds not stoked about it. Because some people will be like, oh, he followed me. How sweet. But if you're just not stoked about it, just kill Tisa. Don't have any. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:59 contact yeah i mean people break up in the same city all the time you have to deal with somebody being around you but the good thing is you are moving somewhere new he doesn't know where you live he's not going to know where you work hopefully so just don't give him any info and you probably won't run into him also dye your hair a dark color and wear big sunglasses okay next you're an idiot okay glasses back on second question comes from annie and he says i'm newly married have a toddler and i love them both and my life however i do dream about being alone being more successful in my career buying my own tiny house and giant dog and making my own decisions without having to consider anyone else holy shit i even take it as far as looking at
Starting point is 00:42:37 houses online and dreaming about the life i wish i had i'm hoping this is a normal feeling for newlyweds and that i will not be living a life of regret but i can't help to envy the life of my 30 year old single friends with no kids i adore my husband and son i just hope i'm not a terrible person do you know what my mom said to me once like when i was like 22 she goes this whole child-rearing shit is way overrated. I've never forgotten that. She said that to my face. Wow. I'm so scarred. Clearly.
Starting point is 00:43:05 She's like, I wish I didn't have you. She just gave her dog her baby name. So, obviously, it didn't have any effect on you whatsoever. So, this woman wants to ditch her toddler? I feel like that's normal. Toddlerhood is so hard. Listen, I know nothing about being
Starting point is 00:43:21 married with a toddler, so I'm not the person to ask about this, but I mean, this sounds a little... it's upsetting I'm going to say this Annie I have a friend who had a baby it was she loves this baby more than anything in the entire world
Starting point is 00:43:38 like she loves her life she doesn't regret it however she had some postpartum and it came later and maybe it's not even considered postpartum at that point and maybe you're just struggling with like a little bit of depression or maybe you need to talk to somebody because I think like anytime
Starting point is 00:43:54 no matter what your situation is in life if you're dreaming of getting out of it there's a little there could be a little bit of and it's not something that's like crazy serious whatever but you probably want to start talking to somebody about it and also communicate to your husband i'm going through this and if there's something that he can do to help you where it's like have a weekend away every couple months go on a girl's trip or a girl's trip or a part-time job or a hobby like whether like maybe he needs to be empowering you to reclaim a little bit of your identity pre-baby pre-wife pre like responsibility reclaiming my time that was like the most amazing answer oh my god well i have to say too it's like
Starting point is 00:44:35 the grass is always greener no matter what you're single you're gonna wish you're in a relationship you're in a relationship married you're gonna always think about like what if i was single so yeah i think that your advice go talk to somebody none of us have kids we don't know like but those those are normal feelings it just is are you gonna go and ditch your family and go rogue and start a new life somewhere or are you gonna like make conscious good decisions okay no i know but and having a passion outside of your family is perfectly fine it's like you're a vacation from them you know like it's when you need and i feel like there's a lot of mothers out there that seem that think that they've lost their identity once they've had kids where it's like that is so
Starting point is 00:45:13 important to remember what you loved before you had a kid because that doesn't have to be your because your kid's gonna be an asshole to you pretty soon and like okay last question comes from lucy lucy says this may i graduate college and move back home to chicago for work all of my close friends are staying around the twin cities area where we went to college i'm worried that the distance will strain our relationships even though we all are extremely close to the point where we see each other every day i've been told countless times i have nothing to worry about but the little voice in my head keeps nagging at me any suggestions for staying in touch with them while we are all heading down different paths i honestly didn't expect to ever have such a close
Starting point is 00:45:49 knit group of friends yeah i um this is something that i've experienced because like this is very much in tune to like how old i am right now like my best friend just left for college and um we were both like it's funny we met in our homeschooling program you don't really think you'd meet friends in that but you did yeah um but so she she left and i'm like really sad and i was scared like you know what if we don't talk as much like blah blah blah i mean it is an adjustment it is something i mean of course you're not going to see each other every day but i have to say with the way technology works today it's incredible how close it's easy to stay close with somebody with facetime and how easily you can call them up or just say a quick hey or good
Starting point is 00:46:31 night like um like i miss her so much of course but i don't feel like i i do not feel like our friendship has changed i don't feel like i can't call her for advice i don't feel like she can't call me for some like you know she's going through a lot right now she's new surroundings new friends in a new dorm like when she's used to either her bed or my bed you know sleepovers and all that stuff so i think that i mean if your friends are reassuring you of course life is going to change you're not going to see them that often and you guys may not be as close but if you guys are really as close as you say and with how easy it is to contact people nowadays it shouldn't be too big up a problem two words group text group text always keep it going yeah like and yeah and like
Starting point is 00:47:12 a an annual trip a lot of a lot of my girlfriends who are in sororities in college they all kind of went their separate ways but they have like an annual trip where they all get together and it doesn't have to be extravagant it's just getting to the same place on the same weekend and right and it actually can be really really fun because you catch up and being able to like see each other physically versus over FaceTime and whatever like it can really just be a really great also always send memes and send a lot of memes
Starting point is 00:47:39 by sending memes everyone wants to have some memes I want you to send us a meme when this is over she came into the show on the meme and she's leaving the show on a meme you really know how to make a full circle moment speaking of memes if you want to follow Joey's Instagram
Starting point is 00:47:56 and hope for a DM of a meme that's how you know it's true friendship at joey king follow her on instagram go see the kissing booth follow all of her things support her netflix original yeah i'm gonna watch one again yeah good yes please do because it's like so easy and then you're gonna see how hot her boyfriend is sorry and then she's gonna ask next time we talk about him if he's single no she's not she's a predator okay excuse me if you're a boyfriend Listen, Becca, there's going to be all these rumors started about me,
Starting point is 00:48:32 and they're all going to be started from this podcast. You say random comments and people taking them and running with them. Well, you're an idiot if you believe that.
