Starting point is 00:01:26 partnership with them. And let me tell you something. I am probably their biggest fan right now. I don't have a kitchen and I am using their paper plates for everything. I mean, I am doing chili. I'm doing soup. It's winter. I'm doing microwave. I'm doing cutting a baked potato and it's no leaks, no messes, no seep through. I was microwaving chili the other night. And you know, sometimes with other brands, the paper plate becomes wet and you're like in a sloppy paper plate. No, Chinette is the bomb. There's three different products, the classic, the crystal and the comfort crystal. If you're having people over, use that classic. If you're just cooking for yourself, easy. The comfort is amazing for your hot coffees and teas. There's little sleeves.
Starting point is 00:02:07 And what's cool about it is that you may think like, I don't want to do paper plates because like once use, but all of these products are made with at least 80% recycled materials. So that is amazing. And they're also all made in the USA. So visit MyChinette.com to find out more. Well, what is this? Welcome to the Lady Gang. That's amazing. Say that again. The Lady Gang. Things are about to change around here. Each week, we catch up with Hollywood's hottest girl posse, Kelty Knight, Becca Tobin, and Jack Vanek. Hello, hello, hello. Welcome to the Lady Gang. I am Becca Tobin here with Jack Vanek and Kelty night and I just popped a delicious peanut butter M&M. Peanut butter M&Ms are underrated. I was just
Starting point is 00:02:51 about to say that. They're so good. The taste is lingering and I was thinking this is an underrated candy. Not peanut M&Ms, but peanut butter. Wow. Nothing better. Because you know the peanut butter that they use is like the worst kind for you. It's Jif. It's Jif. Like it's sugar. It's sugar peanuts. Yeah, definitely. You know what I mean? It's not Justin's peanut butter that's just smushed up peanuts right exactly like it's like the softest sugariest lovely i love a candy take it downtown to town what say that again downtown to peanut town okay yeah totally i know what you mean yeah i thought you might i still don't know but we'll move on anyway um does this episode get a good week bad week are we just hopping into the special episode good week
Starting point is 00:03:36 this is our 500th episode happy birthday to us happy birthday to us we are 500 today i can't believe we wasted this much time of our lives and so have you listeners i ain't saying um i have prepared a massive celebration i mean so many things to talk about but and it's just going to be us today so you'll enjoy but we are of course we're doing good week bad week we can't not that's everyone's favorite part are we not doing the best of good week bad week we're doing that that's a whole separate episode and if you've wondered for all 500 episodes neither one of jack and becca have any idea what's going on never that's the fun of it we can't all be prepared that's no it would be so boring if we were all good at our jobs
Starting point is 00:04:25 well in that case it's time for good week yes it is bad week oh no who would like to go first my kelty's looking at me i guess i'm going um okay so my good week is i just got my booster shot a couple days ago and the day after i got my booster we had a photo shoot for lady gang so i had to give myself a self tan so i give myself this self tan go into bed wake up the next morning and I didn't realize that I did a self tan right over my bandaid on my shoulder. So I don't know if I still have it. Do we see it? Yes. Wow. I have like a self tanned bandaid mark on my arm. Tan is beautiful. I'm kind of into it. It's like the old Playboy bunny thing. I'm like, this might be our new thing. Like I think that it is about time for the tanning stickers to come back into style
Starting point is 00:05:16 because they've been so out of style for a long time that it's due, but maybe we want to do a bandaid, like a bandaid on the, like you got your shot. You're showing it off. You're like, I'm at the beach, but like you can come near me in the water. Yeah. Okay. Or you can, you can put the bandaid anywhere. Maybe it's just a new sticker. I think a fancy shape is much better. I want a sunshine not a playboy bunny i used to like to do the palm tree of course you did yeah i also have a really important question what while you were rubbing tanner on your arm yeah did you not think no you didn't no i forgot about it you do a spray tan or did you do a cream no i did the uh like a foam a foam tan but like you just didn't think about it wasn't on my mind that is shocking
Starting point is 00:06:08 and whatever bandit was on there was on there damn yeah i went right over okay and i like the mark you do yeah it reminds you of how pale you once were before the foam it is night but that's why you like having those stickers on you when you get a spray tan because you're like ah like when you go on vacation and you're like i have a tan line yes it feels so good to be tan or when you would go in the tanning bed and you would have those lines under your butt cheeks yeah from the pressure god damn it uh i wonder how good i would look if i didn't do the tanning bed me, my face. I don't even want to think about it. Like so many less wrinkles. I just saw pictures of myself from prom in high school. And the color of my skin was not even like, Oh, I look like an
Starting point is 00:06:48 Oompa Loompa. No, no. It was the same Pantone as an Oompa Loompa. Like it's, it's shocking. It's disgusting. And I want to know what my parents were thinking, allowing me to visit a tanning bed three times a week. And the fact that you didn't have eyebrows to cover up a lot of that face tan. No, no. It was just all face. Disgusting. Yeah. I wonder if all that like UV rays had anything to do with the non-growth back of my eyebrows. You know, it was just like going right into the pores. It's so bad. It's hard to say. Thank God for spray tans. Okay. My bad week is my best friend recently got married and at the wedding I had to do a speech and I have never been so anxious and nervous for anything in my life. Like we just had the Lady Gang show the
Starting point is 00:07:33 week before. Those are awful. Speeches. Yes. At weddings. Awful. And I had to do a joint speech with my other really good friend. So not only was I trying to like write a speech, we're trying to like write the transitions to go back and forth. And it was, and you didn't have a Kelty. I didn't have a Kelty. The speech was great. It went okay. But I was just so nervous the whole time to do the speech. So then the speech happened and I'm like, Oh my God. Yes. The biggest weight off my shoulder is gone. Like I want to like get, I want to drink whatever. So we kind of go out of the room where the wedding is. And I screamed, I want to get up. And as I'm saying up, I feel a tap on a little tap on my shoulder and I go to turn around. And as I'm saying up, it's the groom's
Starting point is 00:08:19 mom tapping me on the shoulder, telling me how nice my speech was. Oh no. Oh no. You have to stay sober long enough to get feedback from your speech. Yes, I know. And I'm like screaming up into her face while she's, is she a Brit? Cause he's British. Yeah. She was British. And she's like, how beautiful your speech was. I was like, oops, sorry. I want to take some shots of fireball, but thank you so much. Oh, wow. I know you guys probably will find this hard to believe, but I've only been asked to be in one wedding ever in my entire life. And when I was in this wedding, I was the maid of honor and I had to give a speech, but I hated the groom. Oh no. They're divorced now. Did you, did you talk about their groom?
Starting point is 00:09:01 No, I just did a, like a, and this bride is so amazing. And this person is so lucky to have her because she's so incredible. And here's all the reasons why she's incredible and the best. And then to the speeches are hard to you. They're very hard. And I'm like a pretty decent public speaker and I still wanted to shit my pants. I will say one of my proudest moments was my speech at Leah's rehearsal dinner because it was like some heavy hitters. It was all actresses pretty much. And I was like, and I was just so nervous. We were all very nervous and we were all thinking this is psychotic, how nervous we are to be doing this. Cause you do a joint speech. No, but we all had to go up separately and do our speech. Not had to, but we all did separate
Starting point is 00:09:48 speeches. And I just remember finishing and being like, did it nailed it? Like there were laughs and in my mind, I'm sure it was way better than it actually was. And people give like courtesy laughter, but I do feel of, of the actresses who had to speak at that wedding, mine felt like the best. Oh, wow. Congratulations. You know, amazing. See, I'm like the opposite. I feel like it's going terribly as I'm doing it, like for, for anything, but then it always, the feedback that I get is way better than how I thought that it went. It's like when Jared proposed to me and I, not that I was doing anything for that, but like, I literally thought everybody went silent and everybody looked at me like I was an idiot. And then I watched the video.
Starting point is 00:10:38 I was like, Oh wait, no, everybody's like cheering. But in my mind, I'm like, this is the worst moment of my life. I love it. That's why I felt like on this beach too, but apparently it was okay. Okay. I refuse to watch a video of it though. Do you have a good week? I think I already said it. My spray tan. Oh yeah. Her bandaid, which you think would be a bad week. Yeah. It was a good week. That's why I was confused. It's another one of those that, you know, I don't know where to put it. So I just chose the one I didn't have. It's a week. Would you like to go Kelty? Sure.
Starting point is 00:11:08 So I got many messages. First of all, Lady Gang, thanks for being so involved in my life and so concerned for me. A couple weeks ago when I hosted the Thanksgiving Day Parade flawlessly on CBS 23rd most watched thing on television that week. You're welcome. I had said to you both on the Lady Gang podcast that I was going to be wearing a red Gucci fur. Yes. and when i was upset showed up to your homes on thanksgiving morning in a white jacket the amount of dms i got we want you robbed us of our gucci moment what happened so the coat i was of course
Starting point is 00:11:45 i can't have a real gucci fur coat of faux fur um i was going to rent it from this showroom that rents designer clothes and i had planned it three months in advance when i got to new york i was like hey i'm gonna come in for my fitting and the woman there was like oh no she lent it to someone else i'm sure someone else wore it at the parade i didn't get to see all the celebrities but someone was on the jolly green they're on the floats the jolly green giant i have a feeling kelly roland was there in a green fur to her foot i bet she pulled it she didn't wear it but she pulled it it was unavailable for me so three days before the parade i usually have my coat fitted tailored everything i you're sitting down though i know but it's got to be like tight on your arms like
Starting point is 00:12:26 sometimes there's too much arm on tv it like looks different anyway so three days before the parade i'm in new york i have no coat to wear on the parade oh no and so i start shopping i go to the best i go to zara h&m i'm like on the hunt you know what the color of the season is camel everything's camel you can't wear camel on television it would look like poop So old. It wasn't camel. I don't know. There are no coats. I mean, there's coats, but they're not special enough to be wearing on the Thanksgiving day parade. So I end up at Bert. So Alex, who works for lady gang, uh, she was like, why are you messing around with H and M get to bird words right out of my mouth. She was like, go get a special car. I was like, I do not want to spend
Starting point is 00:13:09 all this. My rate is not that high for hosting this parade. I'm not gonna spend all my money out a coat. So anyway, I go into Bergdorf and I'm like, I go, first of all, I got off. So I, I don't know if anyone else does this. I go into these fancy stores and I get intimidated by the staff. I'm a television host and you are working at a retail counter, which is fine, which is lovely. But like, why do they have the ability to make me feel like I'm not a human? It's not like I'm coming on their yacht. It's not like I'm coming to their billionaire mansion. Like they're working a job, you know? So anyway, so I, Bergdorf's like six floors high. I'm so confused. Anyway, I go to floor four or whatever, and I walk off and it's Chanel right there. And I walk
Starting point is 00:13:51 off the elevator and I'm trying to act like I'm supposed to be there. So I walk into Chanel and I'm like, oh, do you guys have any coats? Cause I just don't want to look like an idiot. Like, I don't know my way around Bergdorf's. By the way, I don't know my way around Bergdorf's. Bergdorf's. So anyway, I'm like, oh, I need a parade. I need a coat, blah, blah, blah. She brings me out this coat. I try on this white Chanel coat and I was like, this is really nice. I don't think I want to wear white. And I was like, I'm going to keep looking. Thanks so much. And I looked at the price tag. It was $14,000. Oh my God. I was like, uh, no. So then I go up a floor to five, which is like the regular expensive shit. Like the Ula Johnson, the theory,
Starting point is 00:14:28 like still a coat is still $1,500. It's so expensive, but it's like, at least like the regular expensive. So anyway, so I end up like trying on all these coats and I'm kind of freaking out. Cause like the day is over and I got to have rehearsal tomorrow. I got to wear my coat rehearsal. And this woman who is so lovely was like, Oh my God, that looks incredible on you. But that's not the coat. She pulls this other coat. She goes in the storeroom. She finds it in my size. She's trying it on. She grabs my hand. We go up and down all the loves of Bergdorf so she can find the sparkly gloves that she wants me to wear with it and the undershirt. And she's so did she know you were hosting it? I told her as I was going, I was like, I know this is so stupid,
Starting point is 00:15:04 but I'm hosting the parade. So it's gotta be like a TV, like street town. So then we get to the thing and I'm, and I'm checking out and she's like, Hey, if you have any trouble in the next couple of days, just call me. Like I'll help you. Whatever. She writes down her name and guess what her name was? Kelty. No, it was Carmela. Who the hell is named Carmela except Christina Perry's daughter, Carmela. And this, and I looked at her and I went, Oh, I was like, Carmela is one of my favorite names and no one has that name. And Carmela was in New York for Thanksgiving baby Carmela because Christina was on the today show. So it was all the Carmela's were around. And I just felt like Carmela helped me so much. That's so sweet. I know. And she was not making a ton
Starting point is 00:15:44 of money because the commission on the Chanel floor is obviously worth it. The commission on the shirt still worth it. How much was your jacket? It was like $600. And then I had to cut the belt off it. Cause the belt loops were hanging out on TV. So I can't even, I was planning on reselling it like on Poshmark. Where am I going to wear a white Cape coat? You can still resell it. I mean, I guess I will, but I, my sister doesn't listen to the podcast and we were just kind of chatting in Atlanta during the holidays. And my dad asked about watching you on the Thanksgiving day parade. And my sister goes, Oh my God, Calty looked so good. She just looked so good. And I said, it's because I told her not to wear a beret, a beret or a bow.
Starting point is 00:16:29 The three B's keep the mess out of your hair. And it was so funny because Carmela Bergdorf's wanted to put a bow in your hair. She was like, what about a pin? And I was like, I can't, I just have, I was like, I just, I just have to be pretty. I was like, I've worn a brooch before it gets way too crazy. And then I was thinking a sparkly earring or something crazy, but no, I just went, just be pretty. I just went so simple.
Starting point is 00:16:50 I even thought about a red lip and then I was like, pull it back. Just let your beautiful hair. And so many people are commenting on how beautiful my skin was. and I was like, that's all we want. You Angelina'd it. I don't know. Okay. Here's my bad week. So while I was in New York for Thanksgiving, so this is all Thanksgiving centric because so much happened when you actually go outside your house. It's a whirlwind. I got stories for days. Oh my God. Thank God we're all going to hear another story about Kelty's sconces in her house. Thank God you left. I know. The best thing you could do for this podcast. I went and lived. Thank God
Starting point is 00:17:20 for the smads. Thank God for the smads. So I'm in New York and I'm so excited. I go see the Radio city Christmas spectacular. I sat in the second row, which I told you I was going to, it was so incredible to see my friend Nicole perform. It was amazing. And so after, so Chris was supposed to come with me. He got on a call, which I knew the minute he picked up his phone and I had those AirPods. And I was like, you are not coming to the spectacular. So I texted my friend. I was like, will you meet me there? Chris is not coming. He's like, I could have made it. I was like, don't stress me out anyway. So I went with Nicole's sister. And so we sat in the front. And then at the end, I was like, I want to get some stuff at the gift shop because when I was
Starting point is 00:17:52 a rockette i was a touring rockette so i never had room in my suitcase to get the ornament or the snow globe or the jacket or whatever so i was like i want to get some stuff and online you can buy it nothing but at radio city there's so much stuff so i was like okay so i went on like a shop i got my two ornaments and i got the i have a bunch of snow globes for christmas i got the rocket snow globe and it's like so big and amazing and i was so excited it was like 40 dollars you guys this is like a real snow globe and i know that you're thinking this is going on sconce territory feels like we jinxed it anyway i got this snow globe i was so excited about it and i'm packing and i'm like well i can't put this in my suitcase but i'm gonna check because it'll break
Starting point is 00:18:33 so i put it in my carry-on and then guys i went to jfk and it's going you can't go through security i didn't think about it so then i go through security he's like do you have any liquids i was like no and then he goes through my bag he's like what about this giant ball of liquid he's like this is way too big and i was like this is a snow globe and he was like no you can't keep it i was like but this is a rocket snow globe i was a rocket and he was like no it doesn't matter i was like come on there's not like a bomb in the snow globe it's christmas yeah then he's like actually you're banned from flying anyway you had to leave it there no and i was like well do you have a girlfriend do you have any nieces or nephews like you could take it he's like we're
Starting point is 00:19:13 actually not allowed to take stuff. This is definitely going in the trash. No. Well, thank God that guy was good at his job. Cause I thought this story was maybe going to be like, I'll give you a pass. Yeah. Go ahead and take it on the plane. Cause you're so nice. No, I really tried. And I was like, I was like, Chris, I really thought it was gonna be so charming. They're real sticklers. Like Christmas is ruined. So I said to Chris and he was like, don't worry, babe like he got you one no he was like don't worry babe we can order one online i was like they don't sell this online we looked online they're sold out you can't order them he's like i'll get you another one from new york i was like okay like i don't know yeah but what are you gonna
Starting point is 00:19:54 do you can't pack it in your bag well here's the thing you can check it i feel like i fucked myself because instead of getting a diamond tennis bracelet for christmas i'm gonna get a fucking snow globe and he's gonna think it's so meaningful because i was so upset that i did loser. I'm like, I'm upset, but I'm not proud of bag upset. You know what I mean? You need to clarify that with men. I know. You're like, I'm upset for an hour. It's okay. Yeah. I'm like, let's definitely don't use this as an excuse for my gift. Yeah, exactly. Don't get me a snow globe. He will. I'll see you in a few weeks. I'll have a snow globe. I bet you a million dollars. 100%. Okay. When we come back, we're celebrating our 500th episode.
Starting point is 00:20:30 I didn't do my good week. Nope. You're right. Oh my God. Oh my God. Okay. Let's leave it in. shit i talked so long yeah you did talk a long story becca go ahead hang on hang on i'm pulling up oh my gosh she wasn't even ready after 17 minutes no it's because i didn't want to be rude and be looking at my and you know it's a gift to be so long-winded is it so funny am i the dorit of this group okay here okay okay here's my good week so the christmas movie that i did was amazing oh thank you um it premiered after thanksgiving yeah sunday after thanksgiving you guys were both so sweet and posting it and actually jack i didn't even know it was on peacock until you posted about it because i was like how do i watch the movie and she sent me down an app
Starting point is 00:21:13 rabbit hole to get it becca just told me i don't know well i asked after you were the first person to ask me and then i got four more messages well you're gonna get back to this you should know we're gonna circle back to this this is actually part of my bad week so jack text me and i'm like i actually i have i have no idea because i watch it from a link like they send me the link and i don't actually tune in normally, whatever. Cause any, anyway, long story short, you don't need to hear this part of my sconce story, but sconce story, Kelsey was like the 18th person to ask me. And so finally I just like Googled it and I sent her a link where you could do a trial of this thing, but turns out surprise, surprise. I'm a Peacock movie star. Didn't even know it
Starting point is 00:21:53 until Jack posted it. Yeah. It's right up there on the front page of Peacock. Was it? Yeah. Wow. impressive yeah i'm very important so um my good week is i got a lot of really nice dms i feel like the lady gang really showed up for this one they turned out well you know it's also just like you during the christmas movies it's what everybody wants to watch i guess you're not really like pulling like pulling what's the word the strings no chain the leg pulling legs okay okay i don't think it's pulling legs it's like pulling a leg you're not pulling your leg you're not forcing people into doing it's what they want to do everybody wants to watch christmas that feels good yeah okay so i got really nice messages girls were i love when they screenshot me where i can
Starting point is 00:22:37 see me like you know what face i'm making whatever and then i got this dm and from jill who is a lady ganger and she said i'm just watching your christmas movie it's so sweet and you're a great actress because i'm totally forgetting you are becca from the lady gang which let me tell you something what a compliment as an actress it is a really big compliment and i have worried the whole time we've been doing this podcast that after people get to know you as a person they can't see you as anything else so i was like you know what i did my job i did my job i was a sweet little christmas angel you were thank you and um that was my good week you looked really pretty i know you look like makeup artists on that movie it was good makeup and hair that was the best i've
Starting point is 00:23:21 had in a long time well they gave you a wave it wasn't a curl it wasn't like yeah it was just really chic and pretty yeah and she really good coats and oh that red coat was it do you even know what i'm talking about the red coat at the end it was like a bell-bottom sleeve oh yes it was like a bell i need that i'll find out find out they always offer you to keep the stuff after and you've worn it for so long that you're like never yeah and i gotta be honest i wasn't sold on your co-star in the announcement and the instagram but watching the movie i ate it up I'm in love with him. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:51 I love him. So hot. He's yeah. He has a little bit of like a Bradley Cooper vibe where that's what it is. I was like, who does he remind me of? Yeah. Um, I liked him. He was really, really nice.
Starting point is 00:24:02 It's funny. Cause like the stuff they pull for the promos. Oh my God. This is so mean. So here's the thing during those, when you see those behind the scenes interviews of us promoting the movie, this one in particular, we had to sit next to each other and like, they'll tell you what to say. Like you're watching Christmas is you on whatever.
Starting point is 00:24:19 um so you're like doing the whole thing but what's happening in that moment 99 of the time is that the actors are in the middle of shooting a fucking scene yeah and so they're pulling you away for like the two minute reprieve that you should be having listen i'm complaining it's like real champagne problems here but when you're pulled into that seat you're also trying to race through it before they call you back to set everybody's stressed out everybody's like worried you're trying to pack in as much as you can and so and you're also brain dead so they're asking me how the experience was with matthew i'm very conscious of this because it's like i had to do this with josh you have to figure out ways to talk about your co-star without sounding like
Starting point is 00:25:04 you're fucking your co-star but also sounding like you really love and respect your co-star i did not choose my words wisely when i was talking i was like it's been so pleasant they're like you must hate him and i was like and his too was like and she's a hoot i was like we hate each other if people didn't were not on this set they would have been like they hated each other we had it was a very pleasant experience is what you said a pleasant experience you know what else is a pleasant experience waiting waiting in line at cracker barrel for brunch yeah like no it was awful. And I just felt so bad. And he really was the nicest, nicest guy. Anyways, that's a whole nother, another topic. But my bad week is the amount of people who don't know how to Google
Starting point is 00:25:50 is shocking. It's shocking. It's the same thing. I Googled it before I texted you. Well, Jared actually found out how to get the app or like found the channel on whatever app it was, but it didn't have the movie on it. So that's why I was asking. I was like, is there a loophole yeah i'm like the back door code that i need like it's a speakeasy movie yeah yeah um but anyways i got 400 texts that day i've gone from like 4 to 17 to 400 it's like wow it became very public but then like my sister was getting texts and she's like hey so-and-so is texting me to find out and i'm like it's 2021 if these people like are texting you they certainly know how to search use a search engine it was very hard to find though and you know why it was hard to find

So Lady Gang podcast is 500 episodes today. We are going to get back to 2015. Oh my God. What we were doing, who we were boning, what we were, where we were living. person for us how boring i was newly married two years of marriage whoa i was on the insider i
Starting point is 00:30:53 hadn't worked on entertainment tonight yeah i had short bad hair and we used to drive to beverly hills once a week and take selfies in the bathroom with our guest and that's how and we used to get drunk we used to drink a bottle of wine every episode where were you in 2050 i miss those days I have a great idea I'm sorry, I know you hate when I do this We should get drunk tonight and record a podcast Together That's a great idea
Starting point is 00:31:21 I have to drive God damn it, okay, maybe tomorrow morning No, no Before the book call My favorite time to drink Jack, do you remember what you were doing in 2015? When we started the podcast, I was very single It was pre-Botox and filler
Starting point is 00:31:37 Face for me, for the most part I had it was pretty ugly you were living in hollywood i was oh my god smack dab in the middle of hollywood it was pre psychopath boyfriend um yeah my first good week are we gonna go through the good week bad yeah we are a little bit yeah should i remember mine you do yeah my good sandwich was named after my My first good week was the sandwich was named after me. My first bad week was getting blackout drunk at a beer pong competition and texting 15
Starting point is 00:32:16 guys. Hi. Hi. Period. Hi. Nothing has changed. Nothing has changed. Except for you're texting one guy.
Starting point is 00:32:21 Yeah. Cause you're just texting your guy. Hi. Hi. Your guy. 15 times. Hi. Becca, where were you in 2015?
Starting point is 00:32:28 This makes me depressed because I think about when we started the podcast. Oh God. My mindset was this. glee ended in the spring of 2015 yeah oh it was right after glee exactly right and i was like i guess this is it i mean i haven't gotten another job yet i guess i'll do this other shitty thing and i'm like if you had just held out a little longer you could have had a totally different trajectory god damn here we are no you are no so i just finished glee i was so sad i was with zach and we he was living in atlanta yep he was living in atlanta we had just started dating like earlier
Starting point is 00:33:11 that year yep um i was living in an apartment in hancock park wow yeah weird we were a little young it's so crazy okay um next uh best guest we've ever had that we've ever had yeah we're spilling the tea i mean to me it's rupaul forever and ever oh rupaul was great but like in person i'm trying to think of those early days of having it in person i still think that oliver hudson was one of the best i loved that i had to re-listen to it for like a story for lady secrets and i was like this is hilarious i we were talking about it earlier but i also have never laughed harder than the michael yo episode where he tells kelsey stories oh my god i have never where she like was convinced that she was going to be a star, the host of something. And he was like,
Starting point is 00:34:05 you are absolutely not like it was something crazy. And I just remember Jack and I, and this was, this was also, we really peeled back the layers of the onion of Kelty. So it took a while to get to that point. And I think him coming on solidified what Jack and I had started to feel that you had felt she's a psychopath like you felt it but we hadn't quite named it yet is this a new thing or is this how she's always met and it's like it's just us it's like when you break up with a guy and all you want to do is connect with the ex-girlfriend before you so you can be like oh my god yes yeah exactly what in a more positive way exactly um worst guess let's spill the T once and for all. Oh, the Tik, the Tik TOK or no, the YouTuber girl. We're not going to name
Starting point is 00:34:55 names. No, but you can guess. Cause we've had three YouTubers on an influencer, YouTuber, influencer, vine viney. Yeah. Okay. She spent the entire time looking at herself live streaming onto Instagram her, but not looking at us and looking at herself in the camera. Yeah. And we've never been more offended or like confused. And we're, that was when we're recording in the studio. And so we couldn't like text each other on the side to be like, what the is happening? We just had to like bite it for 45 minutes of like talking to yourself, but no one could hear us. It was just the most random thing. And then we never had another YouTuber. We literally were like, no, we get pitched them all the time. And I was like, you know what? And you know what? It maybe is not
Starting point is 00:35:41 her fault it's you're taught to like just talk to your own face like that's what an influencer does yeah so it's like maybe it was like she was uncomfortable to look at other people's eyes create the content at any cost any cost i can't imagine that was good content you know she didn't say create good content at any cost she said create any content our most popular episodes overall this is going to surprise you our number one most popular downloaded episode is wells adam wells adams yeah the host of bachelor in paradise that is bizarre big fan he's not the host of bachelor in paradise he's the bartender on bachelor bartender on bachelor in paradise wells adams son you guys bachelor no bachelor we've had such crazy numbers but wells is very
Starting point is 00:36:29 random the number one of all the things that we've done i mean it's it's been able to climb up the number it's been out for a while yeah but it was only the beginning of covet that we had him on who wells wait but it was no we did covet and we did we did wells in person in your old office yeah we did yes weird okay next joey king oh really yeah oh i believe that she's a massive fan she has she's the cutest she's so the bella twins number three that makes sense love them our friends from the morning toast number four and heather dubrow who by the way is in housewives of orange County again. And she just texted all of us about her premiere. Um, one of the most memorable and crazy things that we ever did on the podcast was, so we've always been either
Starting point is 00:37:17 recording at the podcast, one studios or at my office at ET, or then COVID happened and we've been separated and zoom and whatever. But we did go to a hotel room to the four seasons, Beverly Hills to do a podcast with Shania Twain on the press day of her movie. Like we were at the press junket like we checked in and they were like okay shania's ready for you and she just came there was like tons of other people in the room and we did the podcast and that was amazing shania twain she was like unbelievable crushed that was also literally the week before covid because remember she was like really nervous about like germs and stuff like that and we're like we had uh wipes and we're wiping down our shit oh yeah it was probably a week before it happened damn and then a little
Starting point is 00:38:00 sore spot here that i just want to bring up was that paula abdul you know what i have to tell you something what well actually the worst the the biggest heartbreak of all of lady gang i'll just tell you right now is we had a fan named ken who sat front row at one of our shows and i just loved him i sent him a fucking wedding gift like i just thought he was so sparkly and special and he had been, I think I talked about this in the podcast. He had been DMing me and I never see my, like there's now there's like dark holes that you can't see the all requests, whatever. And I never responded. And he felt like I didn't like him anymore. And so he turned, he like became a not lady gang fan. And that like really, really hurt me so much because it wasn't
Starting point is 00:38:45 on purpose. Have you ever considered DMing him? No, I did. I did. And I was like, I'm so sorry. like i had no idea whatever it we we didn't come back together and but this is how i feel about paul abdul i'm paul abdul's number one fan i shop at the merch store so you're gonna go sour i i'm starting to sour a tiny a better person i know i need to be a bigger bigger person but she doesn't know about me about your love for her i don't think i think she does because i told her in person everyone tells paula abdul how much they love her in person right paula abdul is a type of celebrity that gets gushed over yeah like when i met her at that we day thing that i did i gushed as if i was you because i do genuinely feel that like when you see her it's nostalgic
Starting point is 00:39:33 you can't not so she gets that from all angles okay so but here's a couple it should be personal that she didn't accept our money on cameo to make you a birthday video that was that was insane because i'm like we're actually paying you for your time she just got overwhelmed but yeah that happens though sometimes they expire and like they just don't get to it well here's my thing she's big on trying to like make her tiktok happen and i've done multiple paul abdul tiktoks she i feel like she reposts people that tiktok to her songs at the grocery store i was doing full choreography in a paul abdul shirt and you couldn't repost me she could have missed it i know maybe it's not even her maybe she's just making the videos and everyone else is
Starting point is 00:40:15 i'm sure i'm sure she has nothing to do she has teams for everything but it's like paula it's time okay team paula if you're listening it's time and your offer will expire at my birthday of this year and if you have not reached out or retweeted me or reposted me by January 20th, 2022, I am moving on to Tiffany. Okay. Tiffany. I think we're alone now. Wow. That was crazy. Sorry. Quite a ride. Quite a ride. Um, okay. So when we come back, we have some memorable moments that I've pulled from the show of our biggest, and we're going to react to our craziest moments on the show. I mean, Obey, I've been at it four or five years now. I just think it's so amazing. The instructors are so inspirational. The class lengths are so adjustable. Sometimes when I'm over it, just a 10-minute, sometimes a 28-minute, sometimes an hour of yoga. There's Pilates, sculpt, heavyweights, lightweights, just stretching, meditation, cycling, everything. Okay, ladies, can't remember the last time you wanted sex? Oh, you've got kids in the car? Oh, we'll call it ice cream. Listen, ice cream, you scream, but maybe not for sex.
Starting point is 00:43:14 I mean, ice cream. Oops. If your desire for ice cream feels well, like a rocky road, you're not alone. Millions of women have felt their libido melting away because of a medical condition known as hypoactive sexual desire disorder, or HSDD. But unlike brain freeze, HSDD can be treated. Maybe it's time to change the flavor of the day from not in the mood to libido renewed. So whether you're into plain vanilla or the queen of whipped cream,
Starting point is 00:43:41 down to cone or deciding between the big or little spoon, it's time to scream for ice cream again. Visit screamforicecreamagain.com to learn more. That's screamforicecreamagain.com. We spend a lot of time on Zoom calls and creating video content because we're influencers and having a cute and functional ring light is so important. Obviously, we love our multitasking self-powered ring light kit. It's powered by an adorable suitcase-shaped power bank that doubles as a hand warmer
Starting point is 00:44:06 that I was using on Thanksgiving when I was outside. And it also comes with a retractable three-port USB so you can charge your phone while you power the ring light at the same time. The ring light itself can be fully folded up into a round disc. I have mine sitting in my desk right this second. It has three adjustable light modes, warm, cool, and neutral, and even has three phone holders to hold multiple devices. It comes in three colors, pink, white, and black, and now it's on sale for 50% off.
Starting point is 00:44:29 Use code LADY to get an extra 10% off at Multitasky.com. You're listening to The Lady Gang. We're back. Okay, let's start with the iconic Nico Tortellini moment. Oh, my God. I'm going to kill your last name. Nico Tortello. No, terrible.
Starting point is 00:44:53 That wasn't even close. tortella wait i want to sound it out tortorella tortorella thank you i feel like it's nico tortellini what is it like to be so good looking like to be so ridiculously good looking what is it i mean no it's it's it's crazy like you have a model face it's insane yeah you're so damn attractive i was a really big uh fan of the following nice and a very big fan of you when it was coming out that I thoroughly... These are just us trying to get you to pick us at the end of this bachelor night.
Starting point is 00:45:26 This is like we're going back to the main question. Who do I want to make out with the most? I need to sell myself. Jack, your turn. I thoroughly stalked your Instagram. I've seen every single page when I was single. I was trying to pursue it. Are you into my Instagram?
Starting point is 00:45:41 Or does it get real douchey sometimes? It's a little douchey. You have to be douchey, though. Yeah, but I laugh at myself. But I think that you're, yeah, it works because you're kind of goofy and you don't take yourself seriously. We love Nico. That, that experience made me feel 12.
Starting point is 00:46:00 Yes. Because we were all sitting in the same room. Yes. I had just discovered Younger and the entire time I'm watching that show, I cannot get over the hotness. And then it didn't, it was like extra hot in the room. We were all, we were giddy and laughing. I've never felt that way in my life, and I'll never feel that way again.
Starting point is 00:46:21 I don't think so either. I felt 12. I felt 12. Speaking of 12, here's something special that you'll remember from classic Lady Gang style. So I have a special surprise for you, Matt Nathanson, and mostly Jack and Becca, because this is great. I am just terrified. So everyone makes fun of me because I'm a massive journaler.
Starting point is 00:46:39 I journal every moment of my life. I do every morning, by the way. Yeah. So you're a songwriter. Yeah, that's your job. so i have found the journal this is literally what kelty does instead of like have friends i love it your journals are meticulous because you post them sometimes on the in the world and i'll be like so the embarrassing thing is is that this was in 2010 so it's not that long it was not
Starting point is 00:47:02 long ago eight years nine years not long enough not long enough let's remind everybody kelty is 36 years old yes okay so this is just a quick journal it's almost 30 i'm gonna throw that out there when she wrote that so i'm gonna read a journal entry that i found i knew it existed i think i had posted on a blog many many years ago so i don't know if you've heard this you might have read i don't know i definitely didn't okay so the title of this uh entry is called the day i almost met matt nathanson it's april something i'm at lax flying to edmonton nothing special i'm always at lax i almost live here i'm wearing what i always wear leggings brown boots scarf yellow cardigan. But today, I magically wore my one special feather earring. I thought this morning
Starting point is 00:47:48 as I got dressed, should I wear my magical feather? I might lose it. There's no reason to look cute. It's LAX. And on the other end of this plane ride is my mom. She has to love me, even if I'm ugly. But something, also known as the ghost Matt Nathanson, whispered in my ear, wear the earring. The ghost? Is he dead? And just like that, my luggage, tiny feather, and I were off to LAX. well at LAX I had a conversation with my bestie Katie about how last night I was on a date and right up front styles I told the date there's something you need to know
Starting point is 00:48:18 if I choose to be in a relationship with you which is not going to happen dud I have an out I need an out if I ever get the chance to have an epic stay up all night playing Portishead smelling like fresh showers make out session with Matt Nathanson no matter what I need to be
Starting point is 00:48:35 able to do that and I need it he didn't think that was a good idea hence why he's not my dream man where did the almost meeting him come from in your mind okay so matt nathanson came my favorite singer on the show and we did this in person i read from my journal it was a bang i'm still speechless i am too the fact that you write like that in your journal is also alarming it's like an episode of sex in the city yes it's like you're like first person narrative like you know it's you think someone's gonna read it when you die yeah that's how you're writing you know i'm wearing what i usually wear
Starting point is 00:49:18 but then i thought it's lax and my mom has to love me no matter what i'm like even if i'm ugly what the fuck you are so creepy it's just what's hard about lady gang is you go back and you're like i can't really listen it's like it's like reading your old facebook status you're like living yeah it's or it's like looking back at like a picture of yourself from high school and you're cringy oh but then it's like your personality your personality you're looking back on your personality and it's so bad and it's worse than your eyebrows in 11th grade it's so much worse okay this one i think is okay because it was rupaul okay so let's just see if we were embarrassing i'm sure we were it's probably why he hasn't put me on drag race
Starting point is 00:50:02 the wisdom drops are just going to start falling from the ceiling and we're just going to be blessed by rupaul the thing about that is i i didn't come up with any of these things i'm i just happen to remember them and i'm saying them out loud so that i can remind myself that's the key. You talked about the voices earlier. It's an ongoing dialogue to keep my head above water, so to speak, to keep myself, to keep that balance. Because being a sweet, sensitive soul, what happens is you can feel everything. You feel everything. And if you focus on the darkness, that's what you'll get. And so you have to be careful of your power. So you have to constantly do the mantras and all that stuff. But I think there is something about working in Hollywood.
Starting point is 00:50:46 you have to be a badass too because no one gets 10 seasons of a show without having to be a boss right by just being so friendly and so lovely so that's got to be hard too right it is hard but life is hard you know people talk about you know they want to messages for young people and children you know teenagers who are coming up the truth is you the you can't baby safe the world it's a hard life even if you don't want to be in show business even if you don't want to be a boss even if you just want to take care of your own business and just got glide by it's still hard life is hard life is hard do you know what i mean like rupaul that's why rupaul has been alive for 327 years yeah because rupaul aged perfectly in that clip oh there's that clip is oprah like more than oprah
Starting point is 00:51:35 it gives me the little tingles it's the same exact excitement and knowing of the world that i felt five years ago when we sat with him. Oh, it's so good. Rue Paul. Incredible. Okay. He needs a bedtime story podcast or something like just listening to his voice. I love his voice. I know me too. Um, just like a mantra podcast. He's just like, Paul, you can't, I love, well, I highlighted you can't baby safe the world. Oh, I love that. It's like, you have to go through it. You can't Just keep everyone safe. Nope. Live your life.
Starting point is 00:52:10 Okay. I have one more. It's from our friend Spencer Pratt. Oh God. Now, if you remember, we, we reinvigorated Spencer Pratt. Yeah. Single-handedly. We can't say that.
Starting point is 00:52:19 We got in trouble for claiming that. Who? For Moo. Do you not remember this? No. He, he got in trouble. He got upset. He was mad at us or something because we said we like reinvigorated his career and we didn't.
Starting point is 00:52:33 No, we didn't. He was already coming back. Snapchat with hummingbirds. Yes. Reinvented. Yes. Yes. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:52:39 Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay. So the Snapchat reinvented, but then we were like, we need to get him on the podcast. Yes. And he was great. So here we go. Let's take a listen. A lot of people know that you're, you know, quite snap famous for your pets.
Starting point is 00:52:51 My hummingbirds. Yes. Alan. Alan. This is how crazy Alan really is. Heidi just called me. She's sitting in like on a workout bike and there's a window next to it. And she says, she looks up, and Alan's just hovering there looking at her.
Starting point is 00:53:07 I'm like, try to tell me this bird isn't magical. I'm not even going to hear it. You know that it's the same hummingbird every time? So there's no other hummingbirds. Is he going to move with you? No. I looked into it. It's a felony.
Starting point is 00:53:24 It is. What are you going to do when you move? That's so sad. It's a $250,000 fine if I were to steal a bird. But what if? A migrant bird. But he might come with you. I was going to say, what if you're in your new house and you see Alan?
Starting point is 00:53:36 So the new house, since we got it months ago, I've been driving each week and keeping my nectar fresh. So I have 20 feeders there. So there, and L.A. hummingbirds are like gangbangers. Like, Alan could not survive a day with L.A. hummingbirds. I swear to God, like, he would be dead. That's amazing. So it's almost better that I'm going to keep him at the beach. I'm going to drive up there probably once a week, make sure his feeders.
Starting point is 00:54:01 and he has he's at college basically you know he's left me and i you know i see him every day but we don't hang out like we used to wow anna just ghosted me but i understand because anna wasn't born with me so i think anna was like bye yeah later and i understand alan was born with you oh you don't know backstory he's your baby the reason why i'm so spiritually connected to this hummingbird is because the day we found out really that like heidi's for sure pregnant as in like used 10 freaking uh pregnancy tests and like okay these are all working that day i walk outside and there is a hummingbird buzzing right in front of me i'm like what's going on i've never even seen a hummingbird our front door and then i look and there's this little nest and then these two little
Starting point is 00:54:48 babies hatch i'm like this is straight from god like hatching hummingbirds in front of me i've never seen this in my whole life heidi's having a baby so then all of a sudden my mom calls me and she's like because she knows about my new hummingbird hatching and she's like the biggest storm since el nino's coming and i i researched on google that the nests fill up with water and the babies drown i hear that i'm like not on my watch so i go and buy tarps and i'm in the rain so for like the two weeks of raining i keep these hummingbirds alive so we made it through the rain everything's good i got a motion camera on them i'm monitoring them all of a sudden i'm like there's a hummingbird missing so i run outside i'm thinking it fell out of the nest i'm looking
Starting point is 00:55:29 on the ground call heidi help me look we're looking everyone so then i look back on the motion sensor and it you know takes a still photo of the last motion oh there's a mouse or a rat hanging upside down and ate alan's sibling so i'm like damn you rat so i grab the nest i call the wildlife rescue people they come they take alan and and so they because it's illegal again for me to i wanted to obviously like mouth feed alan if i could have like jim carrey but um i looked into that i try to stay in the law and so they bring alan back and alan just hangs out with me like they're like usually when like anna they release gone alan just is with me all day for like a week straight like as long as i'll sit with alan he'll sit right there with me i'm like this is
Starting point is 00:56:15 insane this is the craziest story i've ever heard insane so but then i had to leave for a trip for like i don't know three days and i called my mom i was like you need to stay here with alan but alan did not like my mom so alan ghosted my mom but when i came back alan was like mad at me at first and we had a bonding thing but then he he's gone so yeah and now i'm obsessed with hummingbirds which i my mom says i always loved hummingbirds growing up but now i'm like like i just almost was late to this podcast because i was just staring at like hummingbirds for the last hour i mean shut the front door oh my god now he's hummingbirded with katie couric he's like yeah like katie couric and him are like best friends oh because she wanted to know the humming yeah
Starting point is 00:57:01 she like wanted to do the hummingbirds oh and like we've become friends with heidi and spencer and like they're just such sweet people and the hills came back the hills wasn't even back then no that's what's so crazy it's like time flies when you're feeding hummingbirds i just love spencer i know he's so fun he's like the most surprising lovely person yeah that like you think because we were trained to think he was such an asshole yeah we thought he was gonna be a douche and he's he's actually like so sweet drop it like it's hot well happy fifth 500th girls wow 500th we did it we did the thing here's to the next 500 right see you next tuesday See you next Tuesday.
