Starting point is 00:00:00 It's time for a quickie. Podcast one presents the Lady Gang, the Hollywood girl posse with Lady Gang Quickie. Here's Kelty Knight, Becca Tobin, and Jack Vanek. Let's make this quick. Hello, hello, hello. Welcome to Lady Gang Quickie. I'm Becca here with Jack and Kelty. Hello.
Starting point is 00:00:19 Hello, Lady Gang. Hey, Lady Gang. Hey, Lady Gang. How's it hanging? I just, I gotta be honest with you. What? sometimes they say that like i gotta be honest with you this is my favorite thing in my life lady gang i want to say this as a toast to you and it's not because we drank some champagne but
Starting point is 00:00:43 it's like okay sometimes i'm like oh we have to lady gang because it is at the end of the day a job yeah yeah yeah and there's like a lot of stuff that goes along with that job like when i get the year on tax forms or like, we have to pay someone $2,000 to like renew the trademark. I'm like, why am I doing this? And then I sit here with the two of you and I love you so much. And we're so different, even though we don't like the same right now, but like sometimes we still do. We're the same ish, but like, we're so different. And like my favorite thing that I get to do in my life is just to be the most myself. I don't get to be the self myself at E no. Like it's like a job. It's like I put on Kelty night, you know? Anyway, I just like, I love you. And I was just
Starting point is 00:01:34 thinking about this today. Like, you know, we are in the midst of planning for lady world and every day we wake up and we're texting each other and like, what about this? What about this? This would be amazing. This is something we could do that would make it even better. And like, let's make sure the girls are taken care of for this and this. And it's like, as I said, the thing that I wish I had that I don't have is like, we have a great team in every area, but it feels like it's easier for other people. I don't know if it actually is easier if we're just seeing like the highlight reel. Nothing is easy. That's actually works. Right. Unless you have a ton of money. Sure. But like when anything is going wrong or right for us, we like peace out. We take
Starting point is 00:02:18 a beat and then we hustle. And I love that about us. Like we're so scrappy. We're very scrappy. Yeah. And I love that about us. Cause we're like, Oh, you don't believe in us. Oh, you don't want to do this thing with us. Oh, this isn't going to go. This isn't going the way we wanted it to instead of being like, okay, I'm out. I give up like 10 years. We've just been like, okay, let's regroup. And then we get scrappy. I just love that about us. I do. But I like the scrappiness is like the best thing ever because it like, it keeps us being us like to our core where it's like people that end up hiring like big teams. It's like, you lose a lot of yourself that way. I mean, yeah like what was that i mean they would kill for lady gang tv now who who the people
Starting point is 00:03:06 the e-network but yeah no i just i think it's so cool and i think it's so cool that we still like each other and i think it's so cool that like i'm driving home from work and i have a great amazing job that i love and i'm even more excited to be like i can't wait to see the girls It's like just get a yap. Yeah. The yappy happiness. Okay. On that note, I was so like three words. What are three words that you would use to describe each of us? Oh, I'll begin. I'm going to begin with you, Jacqueline. Okay. My first word is watermelon. what jack is watermelon jack is watermelon because she is she has a beautiful unique hard exterior knock knock knock who's there it's a watermelon but you cut her open she's the
Starting point is 00:04:03 Squishiest, softest, prettiest, little schnoogle-a-boodle that you've ever seen. What's going on? Jack is watermelon. Did you get drugged? No, that's what I wrote. What's Becca's first word? Thoughtful. I actually think that that is the least descriptive word for me.
Starting point is 00:04:27 No, you're incredibly thoughtful. I actually had thoughtful for you, too. Thoughtful? You're very thoughtful. you're incredibly thoughtful you are the first people don't know this about lady about you and lady gang you are the first person that's like hey there's la fires we should reach out to the lady gang community and make sure that like if there's anyone that's been affected that we give back to them in some way yeah we were thinking you're also like the first person that texted
Starting point is 00:04:53 me the morning of my surgery tells you didn't even text me at all i mean i'm i'm the one who sent you the present the flowers no i sent you cookie your favorite cookies i sent you the sweet lauren's cookies i don't you never got those you didn't no what the instacart i specifically instacarted you to her parents house to her parents house flowers and the sweet lauren's cookies that i make her here that she loves that you can put in and cook for 20 minutes did you get confirmation that they were delivered i think so and i texted jared and i was like i'm sending something very important to jack make sure you get it i'm so sorry because those were terrible grocery store flowers they were literally the worst bouquet of flowers they were the ugliest
Starting point is 00:05:37 flowers 100 but it wasn't about the flowers but wait no but with the book i've been waiting to talk about this with that bouquet of literally so so bad with the bouquet i did get a bath bomb that was broken for me it came with a bath bomb no they meant to send you cookies and it came with like also like a body spray so i'm like what kind of um combo was this i was trying to be so thoughtful i literally purposely didn't send you like a beautiful lady flower or something because you sent me the shitty flower no i wanted to send you the cookies you love remember oh because she wanted to be able to send cookies and this makes sense but i know you know a budget that you had to spend the budget on the cookies instead of the flowers i wanted you to have the exact cookies i
Starting point is 00:06:26 make and i know that you love them and i know you love a chocolate chip cookie and i didn't want it to be hard and crunchy and disappointing i wanted jared to have the cookie kit that he can make the cookie for you a hot cookie can go into your mouth okay wait this actually makes me feel so bad yeah Because the Ralphs that has the cookies or the air one, they don't have it. I need an explanation. It was a grocery store bouquet. Okay.
Starting point is 00:06:51 Well, when she posted the flowers, I was so embarrassed. Where are the cookies? Well, number one, I had to post a corner. Like it was like sort of like an artistic shot.
Starting point is 00:07:02 Like sort of was like one of the daisies, which was the nicest. Listen, it was very nice that you guys sent me a bouquet, but when you had your hysterectomy, You and Becca probably spent $300 on the bouquet of flowers to send you. I know, but I meant to send you the cookie. And then I texted Jack last week, and I said,
Starting point is 00:07:20 please don't let Kelty send me flowers for my birthday. Also, in the flower, there was also, like, leaves that were spray-painted silver. It was, like, three wilted daisies and, like, a sprout. Because it was so crazy what I love about the cookies. i know but what i love about kelty is that she has no shame no like if i knew that that was being delivered on my behalf i would have probably intercepted it before yes or if it got delivered i would have texted power texted being like just so you know yeah i just wanted to send you cookies these were the ugliest flowers i'm so sorry throw them away but she just is like you're welcome
Starting point is 00:08:02 you're welcome you know what i dude they were literally no i knew they were ugly more than five dollars but you posted them and not the cookies and then i was confused but instead i got the bath bomb i did not order a weird thing you can't take a bath no i would never send you bath bomb i feel like whoever my instacart shopper was just took liberty being like the cookies weren't available i'll get a bath bomb and i was like oh my god it was so funny i feel so bad that is the best okay my other word for jack is rebellious i don't think i'm rebellious you're 100 rebellious and your other you know i see it too i do too but but like she's sort of it's sort of a uh i don't know the word
Starting point is 00:08:58 because i barely graduated high school what's the word you're kind of an oxymoron though because you're kind of a rule following rebel yeah she's like i want to make sure that i'm in the lane but the lane is i cut like for instance we had a sponsorship with marshalls for a long time and she was like but can i like buy this blazer and then cut it up yeah and i was like no no i don't think that's like what marshall's wants they want it to just be like ready to wear and you're like no no chop chop bitch well i've like talked about like if you know like if you're a real real follower or not and i don't follow a rule unless it's gonna hurt somebody else like i'm not a real follower unless it's gonna like yeah it hurts somebody so i guess
Starting point is 00:09:42 that's like my lane of rebellion and my last thing was my last word was innovative like i think jack is the person that like thinks of shit that i never think of like i never even thought about true crime before i met jack that's not really it's a huge genre no i know it's a huge genre but i was more thinking like when she puts together pinterest boards for our everything and i'm like and you're like how do you even think of this i'm so smart here's the fonts and she's like no no bitch let me show you a font and i was like yeah thank you you're definitely someone who will live on mars i think you should cry genetically freeze your body and then go the lady gang do you have any words for jack deep space freaks me out okay i i have to
Starting point is 00:10:28 think of them on the spot oh okay soulful yay prince derrick has arrived cookies did you know the cookies that i sent jack after her surgery never arrived oh my god um don't eat on the podcast i won't but come back soon okay um jack is very empathetic super thank you can really put herself in anybody's shoes and she is funny thank you funny you know my words for becca thoughtful weird she's very thoughtful becca do we ever talk about this yes okay what were your other ones My next word is resilient. Becca's one of those people that like the highs are high. Like when she slays a photo shoot, you're like, that bitch, I hate her.
Starting point is 00:11:25 And then, but the rest of your life is a fucking dumpster fire. Like the, I'm being honest, the shit you have been through, like the ups and downs of your life, no one should have a handful of things they've had to overcome. I feel like people should have one, like their story should be one. Like, Oh, you know, I had this great loss, not, I had this great loss. And then also I couldn't have a pregnancy. And then also I had like, you know what I mean? Like you just get the dumpster fire in every area. Sorry, this is so dark but like you do you get the dumpster fire in every new thing you're like oh i got a new show on disney like and then it just doesn't do the thing that you think it's gonna do like
Starting point is 00:12:12 at every showbiz baby no i know star baby you're a star baby you're very resilient little star baby and i think that that's a really beautiful thing because the rest like people have because you don't share the highs and lows like you just kind of keep it cool the whole time until something happens people don't see those like ridiculous highs and those ridiculous lows for you but you stay resilient like you keep showing up for your own life for your people in your life and for yourself and that's I think amazing thank you well I think relatively speaking I haven't really been through all that much I think that like I mean I don't know if you're supposed to do that with things but I have this I have a theory of statistics and you're either a person who has
Starting point is 00:12:59 like statistically very average, right across the board for all of it. But then there's people who are really like the really, really, really tiny, tiny percentage of people who experience X and it's good and it's bad. I don't know if this is making any sense, but it's like, what are the statistics of getting on a hit TV show? Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. So that's like a really small hard statistic or whatever not that I'm saying it works so hard but I'm saying it's like a weird thing but then what are the statistics of x y and z on the other end of the spectrum that are really shitty so it's like I'm always like ping-ponging between those high highs and low lows and like the things that like don't happen to many people yeah then happen to me but it's also
Starting point is 00:13:46 good things and bad things yeah no you're like the but I think it's actually if you look at a lot of people that that's sort of common i don't know if that makes sense yeah i think people feel high highs and lows lows and you are the poster child for like having it all come true and having it all taken away from you you know what i mean like you you're just i don't know there's the resilience of having you've experienced the biggest thing that could possibly happen to someone like getting plucked from obscurity and like, Hey, you got the job. And now you're on a hit TV show. That's a bonafide hit. You don't even have to wait to see if it's a hit. You're walking into it to then all of the other shit that's happened to you in your life. And you stay,
Starting point is 00:14:36 you stay cool. Like, I just don't know. I would be way more cryy if I was you. I feel like it's like out of survival. No, of course. well it's just sort of i think like i'm not like a big celebratory person when like great things happen you never like puff your own smoke well i think i think you just sort of don't i don't know i can't really no it's like when turner and hooch came out and we're like oh my god this is it another it well that didn't feel like it to me i no no no because when you wore black to the premiere i was like no no no i know celebrate like why are we not on a cupcake dress
Starting point is 00:15:21 no maybe it's just not trying to get ahead of yourself and like well because i know statistically being not having a show be a hit is like pretty much like zero especially now and i know statistically when i left when i left glee i knew i told myself leaving i was like you're never going to be on something like this again yeah not and nobody is you look at david schwimmer it's the 30th anniversary friend right it's just not has david schwimmer done well especially when you're yeah he's done a lot but there's never another friend nobody is delusional enough to leave that experience being like i can't wait to get on my next hit show nobody has and even the people that have off of glee too and people are doing well it's just a different it was like a moment in time
Starting point is 00:16:04 yeah that's the unfortunate thing about this business it's like lightning in a bottle yeah that's lightning in a bottle and there's no guarantees. So my last word for Becca was underestimating. And I actually had to go underestimated, underestimating. I had to go to chat GBT and I was like, what's a word for someone when they're like really, really great, but they have no idea that they're great. And then they gave me underestimating. And that's my word for you i feel like you didn't nail that i understand but i think that you are one of those people that is always like the least like you're and i think it's a defense mechanism honestly but i think you're always like it's not gonna work it's the less i'm not as beautiful as i
Starting point is 00:16:56 think i am i'm not as talented like you don't it's again we talked about this before you don't drink the becca tobin kool-aid but i've been living in the becca tobin kool-aid since we were like kids in new york where i've seen the halo of her and i've been like you know how hard it is to like be like you and i know it's delusional it's so fun you guys should come over to the wild side because it's great over here i mean but like you don't you don't see what we see but i'm a very confident person I think I just don't really value and I also just look I'm so aware of the fact that we're just these tiny little specks on planet earth so I don't really like allow I'm not like wow I really am taking my breath away today you know well you're like very realistic super
Starting point is 00:17:43 realistic you live in the like yeah I've never like gotten dressed and been like and I mean unless I was 16 years old I was so delusional at 16 you could not tell me I was not the greatest thing ever. But I think now I just have lived enough to be like, and then what? That's why you're underestimating. You're not delusional because people who are delusional can't say that they're delusional. You're so self-aware of the delusion. You're like, you've trained yourself. You know that it's going to serve you. You're like, you're, this is why you should write a book about being successful because there are delusional people like housewives, you You know, there's New York housewives that are absolutely off their rockers and they're
Starting point is 00:18:28 so unaware of how they're presenting. They just are. You knew that to make it in this business and to make it as far as you did, you had to drink the Kool-Aid so that you could prove to everybody else. Like it was, you have to like believe it yourself for other people to believe it. Like you're, you're so smart in that way that you knew what you had to do to get it done. Knew what I had to do.
Starting point is 00:18:52 You're a shrewd business woman. on that note we didn't give our words for you oh yeah what are my words robot i'm less robotic i think she is less robotic i feel my feels yeah like the other day sometimes i texted you guys when like stuff was happening and i was like oh it was like we had to cancel something and then like reschedule and i'd spent all this time like scheduling and that was like kind of blowing up my life but i was actually la was on fire so just to be clear we were just we didn't just wake up that day and think like you know i really want to throw a wrench in kelty's planning it was actually like and then what i wanted to say was like but what i said was no problem but we knew you were
Starting point is 00:19:36 doing on the other way yeah and then and then you tried to get us to come back when i was going to be gone for jared's festival and it was becca's birthday no that's true love you guys bye my favorite thing is i prepared 10 questions we only got through one that's how much we love each other many quickies to be had can you do it we weren't here for a long time we were here for a good time wow lady gang is produced by podcast one with podcasting production assistance from Steve Delameter, Derek Haley, editing by Jared Monaco, and social support from Kali Correra, and Mastermind Evil Genius from Kelty Knight.
