Things are about to change around here. Each week, we catch up with Hollywood's hottest girl posse, Kelty Knight, Becca Tobin, and Jack Vanek.
Starting point is 00:01:31 Hello, hello, hello. Welcome to the Lady Gang. I am Becca Tobin, here with Jack Vanek and Kelty Knight. You know, Becca is in trouble today because she has come to the podcast looking gorge.com, and she didn't bring a piece of Lady Gang merch with her. What do you have? Same as me? I have my Club Lady Gang sweatshirt here, Jack. well see this always ends up happening with the three of us that like becca is always like perfectly coiffed and kelty and i look like we just came out from under the bed let's rewind when the beginning of lady gang when kelty was doing et i was always she had a full face of beat
Starting point is 00:02:09 every single interview and it was in person i know that's true so she had really the leg up when it comes to like outshining the group imagine the day that i'm the only one that's made up i don't know if that day will ever come but just imagine how crazy it'll be if that happens we're really jack i'm just gonna let you know if there comes a day where you're the only one that's ever in glam we are like you know it's like the bizarro lady business wise like yeah i think it'll happen when i'm 40 i won't be able to get another job you know don't even say that um okay well it's time for good week yes it is bad week oh no i'll go first okay okay so my good week is simply that seinfeld is on hulu and now i feel like i have a will to live yes yes like nothing
Starting point is 00:03:03 i used to literally just scroll the direct tv like let it just keep scrolling until i found seinfeld on some tbs it's always on some station 24 hours a day it's somewhere but it was never when I wanted it. And like, it wasn't when I was wanting to be soothed, which brings me to my bad week because when Zach is out of town, I still get nervous when he's away. Like I'm not, I'm better safety. Yeah. My home invasion terrors are real. And I, like I've told you guys before, my friend told me that I must've had a home invasion in my past life because it's, it's an irrational fear that I have. So like, I, I won't turn the alarm on sometimes when he's gone because I'm afraid if something like were to trip the alarm, but I would actually have a heart attack hearing the
Starting point is 00:03:55 alarm go off, knowing my death was coming as opposed to just maybe not even waking up to the intruder coming in and them just like putting me out of my misery before I even knew it was happening. You need like a panic room. You know, that's the only thing I've ever asked Zach for. every holiday, every holiday since we've been married, I'll be like, you could turn my closet into a panic room. You could turn, like I asked for a steel bedroom door in our first house. Oh my God. I have anyways. So I have been at the house by myself and I made the mistake of having, um, Starbucks cold brew, the type that you buy at the grocery store, like two o'clock one day podcasting. I didn't, I didn't realize Starbucks cold brew is like,
Starting point is 00:04:43 Oh, it's frack. No, I can't even drink cold brew. I can drink like five cups of coffee, but I can't have one thing of cold brew. Like there's something in it. Like they sprinkle some little cocaine in there or something because what is it? Like, I don't understand. I was up tweaking, tweaking in the night. My heart was pounding. I, but I did have Seinfeld. So it was all, it was for full circle. It did soothe me. Jared and I have been, uh, well, we are only two episodes in, but we're watching Seinfeld from the very beginning. Oh my God. I'm going to join. Isn't that a good idea? Yes. Cause we did it with the office during COVID and now I'm so sad because I have nothing else. So this is, it's great. Nothing else, everyone. They, she has
Starting point is 00:05:25 nothing. I have, I have nothing else. How many episodes of Seinfeld are there? I have no idea. I'll go. Um, so my good week is Jared and I went to this restaurant called Felix. It's an Italian restaurant in Los Angeles and they, it's supposed to be like the best pasta in the country. They hand make the pasta right in front of you. It was delicious. And I'm not an Italian food eater, but my good week is, so we got sat, they have this thing called like the pasta. um, it's basically just like a glass box, the pasta making place. And they sat us right in front of it. So we could, we were like one foot away from the guy that was hand rolling the pasta. And it was this like mid twenties, like attractive man. But I don't know, once you like start
Starting point is 00:06:12 watching a man be so good with his hands doing anything, I was sexually attracted to this man. And I could barely pay attention to Jared because I was just staring at this man. Like he was just like so good at the way that he like rolled the pasta watching a man work with his hands it's so sexy in the book it is i'm like well that's why i love musicians so much because it's like you the roll go to those fingers moving around so fast you just gotta watch a man with his hands so that's my good week um my bad week is so Jared's band played the halftime show for the, uh, Phoenix suns Lakers game a couple of weeks ago, which is like a great, I mean, it's a huge accomplishment. It was so cool. There was like
Starting point is 00:06:59 18,000 people in the venue. It was amazing. But ever since then, this is like the first time the suns have like become successful. He's turned into a little bit of a sports guy. Oh God, a sports guy and you got a music guy you got a sports guy so apparently he's been a silent sports guy for like a long time but he's never been like a guy that turns the sports game on and the other day after we went to felix we went to go get a drink at a bar and i didn't realize but he had his phone propped up against his drink and he was watching the game welcome to my life welcome to hockey season for me like this is insane insane and he was so sneaky about it i didn't want to ever break this to you jack but like the whole thing about finding someone who
Starting point is 00:07:49 loves you more yeah the only shitty part about it is that eventually it fades and then it's an equal well it's like an equal love because zach he'll never admit it but like was obsessed with me when we first met. And then like four years in was also propping his phone up. He didn't want to look at my face anymore at a bar or a restaurant. I've made it to that phase of the phone propping up. So you're there. It's okay. I'm downstairs after the shower, rubbing like a delicious smelling oil all over my, I'm just going to shower and the hockey game's on. Don't, I won't see you for three hours. Wow. I never thought I could be in the splits. Well, naked stretching alone it's actually welcome to sports guy yeah it's just so funny i'm like i never thought it
Starting point is 00:08:34 would be him but here we are we're watching basketball games instead of the bachelor i'm like i guess this is my new life of being an evil duped you duped me god damn it well my bad week has to do with my relationship as well i am a fucking asshole oh do tell i i have to be honest with you chris chris and i have been together 10 plus years now and we fought a handful of times we've had a handful of like really bad down and out dirty fights where we didn't talk for a few days. That ended in him buying you a billboard. Yes. And, but then for the most part, we totally get along. Like we are so gentle with each other. We speak lovely to each other. Like we don't have little mini fights in the grocery store. Like we're not that couple. There's no real drama.
Starting point is 00:09:15 We're both very chill with each other. I almost murdered him in front of Heather Morris's husband last night so heather morris's husband does woodwork and he's making us a custom table and this is another boring fucking story so i'm gonna go super fast but anyway we're making this table because we have a weird shaped room and i just i thought it would be really cool to have like there's these like kidney bean shaped tables but they're really expensive because they're all like vintage from like the ten thousand dollars i'm like i'm not spending ten thousand dollars on a fucking table like i'm gonna get glue gun on it in two seconds you know so anyway he's gonna to build this table. And Chris and I have talked about it for like five nights in a row. We've
Starting point is 00:09:55 looked at pictures. We saved pictures. He's texted me pictures. So I already had a pre-meeting with him and came over. And then Chris is like, well, I want to be involved. I'm like, okay, can you come back and tell my husband about the table? So we're sitting there and it's like, Chris is on his phone. He's not even listening. And he's like, well, what's it going to be? And I was like, we just went over that like in front, you know, I've never been like cunty to Chris in front of another person before and it was like kind of someone we didn't know and it was it was like he probably went home and he was like um like i have terrible news what zach i also snapped at zach in front of heather morris's husband recently i swear to god i this is so
Starting point is 00:10:37 weird because taylor's amazing heather's sweet the sweetest coolest guy chillest guy and they're so in love and they have two, like they have a, oh my God, magical, spectacular life. And of course we were in LA this past weekend and Zach was being a fucking idiot. And he was like complaining about some Uber situation and wouldn't let it go. And I just couldn't take it anymore. And we were all standing in my friend's kitchen and I was like, Zach, fucking enough. And I just realized that Taylor was standing right there and he doesn't know us that well as a couple. And I was like, oh my God, Taylor and Heather now think that my husband and I hate each other. And we're always mean to each other. And then you just did that. That's amazing.
Starting point is 00:11:19 So weird. We need to call Heather and be like, can like, I I've never snapped like that really, truly in front of anyone like Chris before I was like, so frustrated with him. And I was like, we've talked about this at length. This meeting is for you get the off your phone. Like I was so mad. And then I was like, he's probably going to go home and be like, these people are not happy. And honestly, they're probably not going to be together in four weeks when I get this table. The same way. I was like, Oh my God, I'm so embarrassed that I talk about. because i'm not that cup like i'm not that person had just told me that he was going to meet chris because we were talking about your table yeah he's like yeah i'm gonna actually meet with chris and
Starting point is 00:11:54 i was like oh my god chris is like the nicest guy you'll ever meet in your life he was such a dick he was like not even there i was like this is first of all this is a recipe for disaster the meeting was at 7 p.m he's now worked 12 hours he's exhausted when chris comes home he's a zombie and i was like this is just not gonna go well and he was not nice and i was like i felt so embarrassed because i thought taylor's gonna drive away and be like that guy's kind of an asshole maybe he didn't like me. Maybe he doesn't, maybe she talked him into this table, even though Chris is the one that found the table in the first, but anyway, it's a table story, table drama. Sorry, Taylor. Good week. So I finally have, I've said it before on the podcast, but I'm using this as my good
Starting point is 00:12:30 week. I was out somewhere and someone was describing body shapes and they're like, you're an apple, you're a pear. And then someone said, SpongeBob square body. And I have used that, but I'm just putting that as my good week. It's now my official body shape, SpongeBob square body, because it's what I am. It's so not what you are, Kelty. You're really exaggerating yourself. I have a square body. When I was on the Knicks and we were into low rise jazz pants, I always was like, why does everyone else body go like in a little bit in their waist and mine goes straight up. I'm fine with it. I love my body. She's a great body. Keep me moving. Could do without the arthritis in my feet, but SpongeBob square body. If you're a square body and you know
Starting point is 00:13:17 who you are, feel free to use it. You're built exactly like a girl that I grew up dancing with how from the side, you're literally two inches wide. Yeah. But then in the front, you're not square. You're just not curvy. Yeah. You're not curvy. Right. But from the front, i look like from the front i i have no real hourglass you don't have the right i'm spongebob because the reason is is because you don't have the curves to go on either side so it's like if you had a bigger butt and if you had like broader shoulders or boobs you would have that but you're just skinny spongebob square body and i love it i feel seen i feel like there's finally because when people are like i'm an apple i'm a pear i'm a banana i never had i never had a body in the
Starting point is 00:14:03 glamour magazine like polls you know what i mean and now i have spongebob square body and i'm really i am happy for you and i feel like every time that you've used it i do get like a little bit of a laugh so this is great yeah it's it's i actually got really pissed watching the hills recently because brody is like talking about this girl that he's dating who gets in a bubble bath with him on tv which is weird there have you seen this they're in a bubble bath together and he's massaging her feet and it's just upsetting. But anyways, naked. Yeah. With cameras in your bathroom. I don't know. It's so weird. And he was like, did a bubble bath. It's so hot. It just sounds bad. But he was talking about her. I forget her name. He's like, yeah, you know, she's great.
Starting point is 00:14:45 She's like beautiful. She's this, she's five foot 10. And I was like, you know what guys, you, you know what Brody Jenner, you, that's what I felt like saying. because he said something about height yeah and i and now i know why i'm so triggered when girls are like and he's tall because i think it's the same thing where it's like don't make that like a positive attribute when it's maybe not and it's not a universally positive attribute okay and tall guys are the worst not i mean other than chris like super tall guys are worse than super hot guys because they really can like get away with anything that they want because they can't their face i was just gonna say they can also be chris is not because chris is very handsome but
Starting point is 00:15:28 super tall guys can also just be so ugly and they're still and girls still are obsessed with them because they're tall i mean i was one of those girls if chris was five six no you wouldn't but that's even even a short guy a short hot guy still has to try harder than like a tall that's what i'm saying it's like a short girl you just have to try harder oh come okay well when we come back the hills are alive you know what i mean texas ladies listen up it's becca the new texas lady amongst the lady gang there is a live show coming to my new hometown of austin texas that's right lady gang is coming to austin the paramount theater on saturday november 6th at 7 p.m doors are at 7 show is at 8 again november 6th if you're

Starting point is 00:19:07 blogger podcast host lover of interior design advocate for free wild horses and star of the most iconic reality show of all time the hills which is airing right now on mtv every single wednesday and she has the fashion receipts to show for it please welcome to the lady gang we've wanted her forever caitlin carter wow what an intro um the looks this season shut the front thank you I actually think they're gonna keep getting better because and not to any credit to myself because my boyfriend who I started dating later in the season is a fashion designer and he started styling me for the show because I mean I'm honestly you guys I'm pretty useless when it comes to dressing I swear I'm not that good at it at all like I it gives me so much anxiety getting
Starting point is 00:19:57 dressed and he's just really good and it was so much easier and so helpful because he would pull things from his showroom and like work on me. And so I'm really excited for, cause I started wearing a lot of his stuff. I'm actually wearing something of his right now. Um, wait, it's very cute. So this is it. His brand is called Brock collection and they just did, um, a collaboration with H and M that comes out. And this is one of the pieces from the H and M class. So I always like when I'm like looking for stuff to wear for events and blah, blah, blah, whatever. I'm always like, Oh, the Brock collection is so good. But like, I'm just like not famous enough to wear it. No, no. He, I mean like also he, he, their stuff is very expensive. I will say like I could never
Starting point is 00:20:48 buy it myself, but which that's why another reason I'm like, yes, this is so good. I am so jealous. That is the right move. But he is, he's such a down to earth, like just normal, sweet guy. And he would be happy to give any of you. I'm sure I shouldn't speak for him, but he's really generous and all that. So, oh, so many like good flowy maxis. Jack's like, I'm doing some shopping now. I'm shopping as we're doing this. So there's so many things going on with the Hills. We're like kind of right in the middle of it. And I have, I have so many thoughts, but you have this boyfriend and people, people are saying like all the articles online are like oh my god caitlin and justin bobby like we love uh justin and adrena
Starting point is 00:21:34 but then like i don't know so then so just like clear the air on that first okay well okay so we began i know because it it gets a little awkward i don't like to watch the show with chris because we were filming this as he and i really were just getting to know each other and i didn't really ever anticipate where our relationship would go you know i mean you don't know when you first meet somebody if it's going to turn into something serious or real. So I had to go forward filming the show as if that relationship didn't exist because I didn't know what was going to happen with it. And of course, you know, for several months we were just very casually dating and getting to know each other. Um, and so during that time, I think like as anyone would, I was just
Starting point is 00:22:17 still kind of keeping, not keeping my options open. It sounds bad, but you know what I mean? I wasn't, I wasn't shutting the door to anything. And so when we were filming the show, um, I, for the first time was spending a lot more time with Justin, who I hadn't really spent much time getting to know before. And, um, you know, we also filmed the show over the course of a long period of time, um, over a year. So there's kind of a big window of time that things were happening. And so that's where I think there's a little bit of confusion now. Um, but I mean, there was chemistry. You're not, you're not lying. You're not saying there was no chemistry because we saw like there's chemistry yeah i mean i think just just as hot he's so hot right like i
Starting point is 00:23:03 i don't want to marry he's always been so hot with him like he's a bad person to pick as your long-term partner but like a real fun saturday night listen when he threw the chain into the box at the fire like to bury whatever i'm like if this isn't just a guy literally telling every woman out there don't try to date me right like but girls are still trying to date him like that's how up we are we're like that's how we are though he doesn't want to be changed i'm gonna get him okay but i okay i thought the exact same thing because we so we actually filmed in a different order he and i had gone on a date and then they filmed we filmed the scene at brody's where we burned or buried everything and he put that chain in the box and i was thinking to myself why would
Starting point is 00:23:48 you do that? If there's somebody that you have any interest in dating whatsoever, standing directly next to you, like, I don't want to be tied down, but you know what? It was good because I appreciate in a way. Okay. So he says that on one hand, and then he talks about how he wants to get married and have kids on the other, but it just kind of made me realize. And I think you'll see that as the season progresses, that that's not a route that I wanted to pursue because I didn't want it. like you said I mean I didn't want to be you know falling for somebody who didn't want any of the same things that I wanted ultimately right so I have well first I want to ask so I recently interviewed Spencer and Heidi at their house and he said that the cast all like hates each other
Starting point is 00:24:32 so much that there's like pretty much no possibility of a season three to me I think that's what makes a great reality show I don't want to watch people get along like I love the conflict and I love yeah you know the drama like that's what we want from the hills so do you think there could be a season three or are you like i could not do it i feel like i have a very different perspective of this season i had a blast filming oh and i think spencer and heidi i don't know you know what can i say they're they're their own people you know and i i'm not sure what exactly was going on there was a lot of paranoia around um drinking and I think that like like Heidi feeling that other people were um judging her for drinking a lot I personally thought she just seemed like
Starting point is 00:25:25 she's having a great time and it didn't you know I thought it was fine and I mean I love Heidi when she's having a good time she's super fun she's really nice she's a blast like she loves to dance i love all those things about her um but there came some kind of paranoia about it and she started to i think they both started to feel like everyone in the cast was looking at them in a negative light which i don't really think was true i think it sort of was created they created it themselves um so i don't know and i also don't feel that the cast all hates each other i think that a lot of us get along really well so interesting so we could have a season three then I mean I'm hopeful that that there could be a season three they don't tell us anything you know
Starting point is 00:26:11 but I mean I also personally would love for Kristen Cavallari to come back to the show I think the timing's so good for that I actually randomly just had dinner with her in Cabo two nights ago because we were there at the same time and we didn't of all things talk about her coming back to the hills but afterwards I was thinking damn you know that would have been that would be so much fun she's such a fun person she's in such a good place in her life i think to be back on tv oh my god yeah and between her and justin anderson i would just oh my god yeah so i mean if spencer and heidi don't want to come back there are other people who can fill those shoes although i don't think anybody's going to fill the spencer heidi
Starting point is 00:26:57 no that's a special show they are they're great reality tv they are they are and i agree i like the conflict like the show's not supposed to be about everybody getting along all the time nobody would watch it right okay so caitlin i have a serious question for you now reality shows the way they test i don't know if you remember this but many years ago i came for one of the i think it was insider et i think it was et i came to your house in malibu and of course i remember that you did okay you were wearing a purple top and you guys were i was interviewing you together okay and i have all this time been like did i get duped were you guys already split then it was right before the season and no you were together yeah the season came out and you guys
Starting point is 00:27:46 had split and i was like hold on are they the greatest actors of all time because i was like no, we would have definitely never been like at home. When we split up, it was no, but, but we did, I'm trying to think about the exact timing of when the show came out versus, um, when we, we split up right at the end of May of 2019. Um, and honestly, I mean, we were in, we were probably not we were definitely not in a great place at the time you would have so you would not have been sitting together in the living room talking about your lives okay this all makes sense that's good like I was like it was right after Coachella I was like oh this is I was like I've always thought wow this was incredible and like I'm a pretty I can usually see through the show
Starting point is 00:28:37 biz of it all so I was like I don't know no I mean shit definitely hit the fan between in that window of time okay yeah now would you do another reality show like if you had to choose would you do like an amazing race? Would you do housewives? Would you do, I don't know. Um, you know, it's funny because I was always very anti doing a reality show. And I think it was because I didn't know how to just relax and enjoy doing it. I was so worried about, you know, my things that I wanted to keep private or things that I didn't want to talk about. And, and you can't do a reality show that way. You have to just be willing to say whatever and not worry. Otherwise you're filled with anxiety all the time. It's way too much stress. Um, so my perspectives definitely changed
Starting point is 00:29:25 a lot, but I think it would depend probably just on the cast or I don't think I would do the amazing race necessarily. I'm not really that athletic or, um, I don't know. There's not enough fashion on that show or none. I mean, I guess it could be fun, but yeah, I don't know Real housewives. I don't know. I guess I can't say no to anything anymore because I never thought that I would ever be on the Hills. So here we are. Here we are. Well, I think the big story of this season in general so far is like you, like everyone's like, Ooh, because you're having to work with Brody. And then on the fricking trip, the brings like, how do you not just walk out? You're like, go yourself. Everyone in production who knew this was going to happen? Like that's
Starting point is 00:30:13 Well, what do I say about this? Because it's not, it wasn't, you know, we're making a reality show. Okay. Like, I mean, obviously shit's going to happen. And also we, you know, we talk a lot off camera and so there are things that here's the thing in that situation was I actually knew the girl that he was bringing on the trip from years before we'd all been friendly and, you know, see each other out so if I had seen her prior to them dating at at an event or something I would have said hi to her we would have chatted you know I mean he's she's a nice person I don't have anything against her whatsoever but I actually said to him at one point why would you put yourself in this position by bringing someone on this trip because it's gonna automatically create a
Starting point is 00:31:01 situation because he then got very frustrated that they that it became a thing and what do you think is gonna happen exactly if you bring someone on a trip with your ex-wife and as far as everyone else is concerned we had just split up you know um of course people are gonna weigh in and it's they're gonna turn it into a storyline on the show so um i'm just really proud of you because like let's be honest we all think that we are not gonna fall into the same thing we fell into in high school thinking brody was like the hottest man alive yeah and every time i see him on the fucking screen still I'm like I'm so mad that he aged like this because he still looks good if not better better with age I know it's so so irritating getting out of his shower like I'm like you still
Starting point is 00:31:48 look like that and I want to think that I'm like impenetrable to this bullshit boy whatever but like I'm proud of you for never going back oh well that ship had sailed by the time I mean I think I I've noticed this a lot I think there's a big difference between with men and women, or at least amongst my girlfriends, when we're done, we're done. You know, I mean, I think, yeah, I mean, I tried everything that I could possibly think of and really hung in there. I mean, when we got married in Indonesia, I was 100% committed to being married for life to this person. And, you know, my parents are still together. That was always really ingrained in me growing up. I took it very seriously and I really, really wanted it to
Starting point is 00:32:36 work. And one of the lessons I learned coming out of that relationship was that, you know, you can't, you cannot want somebody to change, to be the, you know, like they have to want that for themselves. And I think that I have tended in the past to find people who I see the potential in and, and just, you know, clung to that potential and known one day, you know, there'll be this X, Y, and Z. But, um, one of the things I learned was you, you can't look at someone's potential. You have to look at who they are in that moment. And I finally just kind of realized with him, I mean, he, there are so many great things about him. We got along so well as friends. And I think that's what made it really hard too, because we would have a great time hanging out together all the
Starting point is 00:33:24 time but just romantically we were not on the same page and like what we wanted for our lives so yeah I mean once so once I once I made that realization there was really no going back and you know if I ever think about it which I I really don't because I I think um I just know it's not we don't want the same things so what would be the point you know and that that's like an easy line for me to see. Well, it's like a very healthy place. I know. Yeah. Well, but I, I mean, it took, I was with him for six years, you know? So there was a lot of, there were a lot of moments where we would take time apart and get back together. You know, I mean, I did that, all of that. So everyone does it. And then I think like right now we're so fascinated with like, in my
Starting point is 00:34:14 mind i'm very fascinated with the a-rod j-lo and like watching you know celebrities break up and fall in love and all that stuff about that i mean i'm not excited about it but like i am i don't know why i love the benefit of it all yeah i love them together what have you learned about being in the public eye and like having breakups and everyone having a freaking opinion about it um and then it also being like your real life like this isn't like a game a movie like it's your real life that's playing out and everyone gets to comment? Yeah. I mean, there, I really try to focus on my relationships with the people that I have real life relationships with and work on those. And I feel like as long as I feel in a good place with people in real life, I'm, I don't
Starting point is 00:35:04 really worry too much about what everyone else is thinking, but I will say that in the period of time between, let's see. So after Brody, I, you know, I mean, I had a few dating situations after that, that I felt like put me in kind of a difficult position publicly because I wasn't speaking for myself at all. You know, just cause I didn't really feel like I needed to, I felt pretty comfortable for the reasons I just explained, you know, I just felt like my relationships with everyone in my real life were good, but then it sort of felt like it was spiraling a little bit out of control. And I started to think more about, you know, my career and, and what I wanted for the rest of my life. And that at some point I probably needed to stand
Starting point is 00:35:53 up and say something. Um, and which I think can, can also spiral out of control. If you keep trying to correct everything and say something, it just gets, you know, no one's ever going to cover in the press things exactly the way you want them to be covered. So, um, I wrote, uh, a piece for Elle magazine to just kind of say my piece. And, uh, I just felt like that was the one statement I wanted to make. And just to clarify, you know, how I was feeling or what my kind of headspace was through that process. Um, and yeah, once I did that, I just sort of felt like this weight was lifted and having to move on. Did you feel like you, do you think people finally know who you are? Like after the years of like being with Brody and like, he's a larger than life person
Starting point is 00:36:50 in the zeitgeist and like kind of being in those relationships where you, nobody knew who Caitlin was. Like, I think that what's lovely about the Hills this season is that I finally feel like I know who you are and I like who you are and I don't know if everybody felt that way in the beginning. Yeah. Um, I think that's a good point because, and, and actually that's what the producers of the show said to me going into this season, because I really felt like I didn't want to shoot this season at all. I actually tried really hard to get out of my contract, which I couldn't. And they said, look, we know that you're not happy about this, but we really think it's a good opportunity for you to be just you as an individual, not be attached to someone else.
Starting point is 00:37:34 And I, I agree. I think that it's nice to have a little more representation on the show and like be able to actually, um, for people to learn a little bit more about me. I think that, um, you know, I, I also created a podcast, um, the called the bright side. And that was a part that was sort of in a similar vein why I wanted to do that as well, because, um, I, like you said, I've always sort of been attached to another person. And so in a way they've represented me. And so I think, you know, I don't know if I necessarily feel like people know me as well yet as I hope they eventually will through the show, but I think by the end of the season, hopefully that will be the case. Yeah. I love this. I love this journey for you. I do too. I love this journey for you,
Starting point is 00:38:20 the strong, powerful, independent woman. Yeah. I mean, it's, I honestly, you know, breakups suck obviously. And going through those kinds of really tumultuous times in your life is always a challenge no matter what. But, um, I feel so much better as a person now having gone through all of that, like learn so many lessons. I know it's really cliche, but you know, you just, it breakups ultimately, I do think lead to so much better things and, and challenges in life teach you so much. So I'm pretty grateful. I love that. Well, when we come back, we're going to look on the bright side with Caitlin and she's going to help you fix your life. It's really not my favorite thing in the entire world, but over the past year, I have really
Starting point is 00:41:10 gotten back on the workout train and that is 100% thanks to Obey. So we just had Marmar from Obey on the Lady Gang, I think last week, and she was so amazing and is one of the many instructors on Obey that is just so incredible. So for this segment of our podcast, it's called Ask the Lady Gang. We have our girls writing questions and we try to give them advice. Sometimes our advice sucks. Sometimes
Starting point is 00:43:14 it's good. So we're going to have you help give us some advice. Right? So our first question, we got these all on Instagram, right? Kelty? Cause normally you can go on the website, the lady gang.com. You can, um, write an email to ask the lady gang at gmail.com, but this, these were from Instagram yesterday. Okay. So our first question, their first question is how do you deal with those feelings of having to keep up with the Joneses? Do you know that saying it's like keeping up with the Joneses living in LA is like essentially just keeping up with the Joneses. Okay. Just by existing. Yeah. I mean, I think that it's really important to figure out who you are as an individual. So you don't really feel that
Starting point is 00:44:01 pressure because, and I think people are really attracted to other people who are secure in themselves and very confident. And so I think that it's more about just not worrying so much about what everyone else is thinking and keeping up with everyone else and rather just getting really strong with who you are and becoming confident in that. And then everyone else will be attracted to that. And I don't know, I just feel like that kind of falls away when you're confident and you feel secure with your friend group and in yourself. You don't worry about all of that. I also feel like if you feel like you have to be keeping up with something and it feels like an obligation, it's probably something that you don't really care about or want to be
Starting point is 00:44:43 involved with. So it's like looking within and figuring out like, what are the things that actually fulfill you and make you happy rather than the things that you feel like you have to keep up with for like status or for other friends or for family or whatever it is that is taking up time in your, in your space that you like don't really need. Oh, well, I was just going to say, I think that I will feel really guilty saying no to things a lot. And I know, I think that's something that I've had to work on is saying no and being okay with not participating in absolutely everything all the time. It's just overwhelming. And then when you become okay with saying no, you feel okay. You're like, wow, that wasn't hard. Yeah. I also love to rip the labels out of my
Starting point is 00:45:27 clothes. Cause I like to rock a Zara. Like it says she, Von, she, honey, I don't give a fuck. I love Zara. I'm going somewhere fancy and I'm wearing a target shoe and you can't tell me shit about life. No, it really bothers me when people shit on Zara. Cause I think they do an amazing job of making clothes. I mean, I love all of their stuff. I'm not really a big, you know, brand name person. I think that if it looks good, I mean, I think the vintage stores have all the best stuff anyway. So true. Okay. Um, our second question comes from my mall. It doesn't come from anybody. My friend and bridesmaid doesn't make an effort to hang out anymore. How can I get her to spend more time with me? I feel like I've been struggling with this a little bit, actually,
Starting point is 00:46:13 because I just moved down to Orange County. And I was saying to my boyfriend that I feel like since I moved down here, nobody asked me to hang out anymore. Yeah, I was sort of feeling a little left out by some of my friends. And he just said, you know, I think that that's that means you need to just make more of an effort and let them know that you're available and want to spend time with them. And, you know, maybe it's your turn to be, to do the reaching out and making the effort. Yeah. It's so true. And also by the way, Orange County is not that far. It's basically like driving to the West side with the distance. So I thought, but I feel like people treat it like it's Texas traffic, man. Yeah. But I would say, I would say just, yeah, just reach out. And also
Starting point is 00:46:59 I told some of my friends that I felt that way and now they've been being more active at, at, you know, just even if I can't go inviting me to things. That's nice. That's actually good advice. Just to tell them, like, tell your friend, be like, I miss spending time with you. You know, if you're busy, that's totally fine. But like when you're not, I'd love to see you. Well, you got to do it non guilt. You got to do it guilt free. No, it can't be one of those. I haven't seen you in so long. When, when are we going to make time to get to connect? I was like, I don't know. After I pay the bills, like that stresses me out that pressure. So I like an open-ended like hey um we should get lunch like what are you doing hey i'm around at home all
Starting point is 00:47:40 saturday stop by for a cup of tea like i love that kind of shit because it's like not a meet me at 10 a.m like that's when i freak out well and like for the most part it's like as you get older people have less and less time so it's probably not on purpose unless you did something to make her not want to spend time with you then there's like a whole other issue there but yeah i think it all comes down to yeah making the effort and communicating yeah i think i i think i just ended up sending some of my girlfriends a text saying, I miss you. I'd love to get together for lunch or whatever, whenever you have time. And then they let me know. Yeah. Yeah. Perfect. Okay. Our last question says our wedding registry is really necessary. Do we have to explain why we
Starting point is 00:48:18 are not having one? A little bit of context on this. She sent a longer note after she basically said, um, she said, I don't want to have a wedding registry. My mother-in-law is freaking out. And she's like, you have to have a wedding registry. And she's like, can I just like, say we're doing like a honey fund? And she goes, you can't do a honey fund unless you say what it's going towards, like for a honeymoon, for a house, for these plates. And she was like, can I just like, this is bullshit. Like, please don't, I don't want to have a wedding registry thoughts. Why should you have to have a wedding registry? I mean, okay. If anything, maybe say that you want people to just donate to your favorite charity. If, if, if they, if somebody, if people are really
Starting point is 00:49:02 looking to give something, um, if the mother-in-law feels really strongly about it, or if you want to do a honey fund, I think honey funds are great. I do too. And I don't think it's for like, you could literally just put to get out of debt. Isn't honey meaning for the honeymoon? Yeah. I think it's meant for the honeymoon, but you can now say what it's for. So just say it's for honeymoon and don't take a honeymoon and pay off your credit card live your life no one knows what that money goes towards anyway it just goes into an account i know yes it's for anything this is a cultural thing too because in canada we don't give money at weddings like you must bring a gift um and so a mother-in-law might be like it's kind of as insulting actually if you bring cash
Starting point is 00:49:45 well maybe it's like one of those things like the older generations probably yes they want to send a gift they want to bring a gift to the shower so if there is that then like just go to a store register for 20 things only share it with your mom for her friends and grandma and like live your life you don't have to make it public but if not you're gonna get some ugly ass tea towels that you do not want yeah that's the problem with the gifts i'm always like register for that nespresso machine that you really want that's kind of spendy and like live your life and make mom happy it's my thought also just put like a few things on the registry so people will buy them And then the only option is to leave money after that.
