Well, what is this?
Welcome to the Lady Gang.
That's amazing.
Say that again.
The Lady Gang.
Things are about to change around here.
Each week, we catch up with Hollywood's hottest girl posse, Kelty Knight, Becca Tobin, and
Jack Vanek.
Hello, hello, hello.
Welcome to the Lady Gang.
I'm Becca Tobin here with Jack Vanek and Kelty Knight.
Oh, Kelty looks like Steve Jobs.
She does.
I love a black turtleneck so much.
Me too.
You really do.
I just, I really am like, I know it's a meme, but I've definitely put myself in the category of like
chill clothes and then like fancy chill clothes. Like today I knew we were podcasting. So I put on
like a nice sock because we'll see like legging pant and a matching turtleneck with like a nice
clean brush top knot, like as opposed to just looking like completely messy and slobby. Like
this is like nice now it's so weird i hate to jump on this and be uh steal the spotlight but
i have to start good week at bad week okay there's something i've been holding in for so many weeks
oh my god i can't wait okay it's time for good week yes it is bad week oh no
Oh my God. This feels so vulnerable and I'm so nervous. Oh my God. Here's my bad week.
I started a Bujo. Oh my God. I started a Bujo. I want to blame it on the fact that I'm in
a city with no friends and just sit in my apartment all day of waiting COVID.
And I think that's the reason. I can't say I was influenced by Kelty and it pulled me in,
but it could also be some of that. And I'm ashamed and I am so sorry for all the Beckas out there
who identify with me as being a Bujo hater. I've let you down and I've let myself down.
But here's my question. It was interesting.
No, no, no, no. I have some questions first. How long ago did you start the BuJo?
Okay. Well, here you go. This leads me to my good week.
Okay.
I was laying in bed. It's now the end of January. I was laying in bed the other day
and I was like, oh, it's been like six days since I've opened that thing. And I was like,
wait a second. This is actually the best information that I could be receiving right
now about myself is that yes, I did make a Bujo and I thought I was that person, but the great
news, the amazing news is that I don't have the brain to sustain it. Okay. This is, this is why
I asked because in the beginning of COVID, remember I also started a Bujo. I was counting my steps. I
I didn't do the poop one though. I should have, because I poop every day.
It would have been a great thing to check off. But I also,
I also didn't last for more than a week.
So I just wanted to make sure that we're on the same page about Bujo-ing.
Thank God.
But the Bujo can be picked up at any time.
No, that's not how a Bujo works. You're supposed to track your shit.
Yeah. If I'm tracking, if I'm drinking enough water every day,
if I'm exercising each day, if I'm, you know,
if i'm i don't even know like i forget the habits see i don't even remember the habits i was
tracking but then i would go to the bujo like a couple days later and i'd be like i don't know
what i did an hour ago i can't tell you if i drank water two days ago so then it's all just to
shit and then isn't the reason why like you have the bujo is to like every day you're like oh i
get a like i get to put my coded color in to say that i did a sculpt class on obey today
Yeah. It's like, then if you're like backtracking a week, then what's the
point of having a Bujo? It's a learned skill. And even these years into it, I don't Bujo every day.
Like there's certain times, like right now I have three books that I know I need to add to my Bujo.
Like you can come, you can, yes, it kind of fits it up because you know, like you'll, you'll be
like, oh, I didn't like track that day or whatever. The only tracker that I really keep every day is
work out everything else like poops and periods and all that stuff like sometimes i have to back
track and stuff yeah but it's kind of it's i was interested because you did text me and you go
hey can you send me some of your latest bujo spreads and i was like i'm not getting into this
and i thought it was honestly i thought it was because you're probably making fun of me
with people on your set i was like oh she's like that makes more sense someone's talking about it
and they want, she wants to show what a psycho I am is what I thought. So now I'm happy to know
that it was because you made one. I'm transitioning from a mean girl into a total f***ing dork.
Except you're not because you can't hold a boojo. Except I can't hold a, and also I just can't
decide if, if this is good for maybe people who have tendencies to be a little obsessive
compulsive. Maybe this helps, but it also started to make me a little more obsessive compulsive
than I normally am. And I feel like the one quality I like about myself is that I'm not
obsessive compulsive. So I was like, maybe this isn't something I need to lean into.
It's not bringing me as much joy as it seems to bring Kelty. So it's different strokes, you know?
Yeah. But now I have 4,000 pens and stickers that I will happily give to you, Kelty.
No, I have like a big dream. I know it's not possible, but because I can go into Canada,
I was like, maybe I'll go to Canada and quarantine for two weeks and then I'll drive to Vancouver
and see you. Yeah. Then would I be allowed to see you? Yeah. You're totally allowed. As long
as you come in and do your quarantine and then you're good. Oh my God. Please come visit. You'd
even be able to fly from, you could come straight to Vancouver or would you want to see your family
first i don't want to see my family so go see your family but you can also fly within canada
because canada has this shit figured out yeah let's be nice jack well have fun assholes i'll
just be here in my apartment not going anywhere for the next god knows how long i'm gonna go bad
jerry's not canadian arizonian um i'm gonna go okay my good week so my hair has finally
beautiful on me sorry my hair has finally reached my pre-cut mullet length i feel very good about it
i have nothing to do so i've been letting it air dry a lot right and i've been noticing that my
hair air dries with like a pretty nice wave to it so i thought that i would really dive in and try
to like get my natural wave out so i bought all these curl products i bought a diffuser and i've
been diffusing my hair and i've been getting a pretty good wave so that is my good week it's not
a great week, but it's like, I'm getting there. I'm learning. It's looking good. So my bad week
is, so while I'm doing this, Jared sees me doing it and he's like, you want to, can you like
diffuse my hair? So I put all the same products I put in my hair into his hair and I diffused his
hair and his hair came out like a beautifully coiffed, beautiful beach wave, amazing head of
hair. And I hate that men just somehow get the beautiful long eyelashes and the beautiful beachy
golden waves. And I have to try so hard. And I'm like, I'm still 60% of the way there.
It's okay. You can't be the best in your relationship at everything.
I know. It's true. But it is annoying. Something similar happened with Chris,
where he switched from like, he always steals my lotions or whatever. And we, he ran out.
and so i was like oh just try this he's like what's this and i said oh it's a serum and he
was like okay and it was like a serum that i didn't want i didn't think it looked that great
and like two days later it comes to me he's like oh that serum was amazing look at my skin
his skin is like not red perfect he's gone back he's benjamin buttoned five years and i was like
from two days from like you're so annoying no jared has jared does not have pores and he washes
his face with body wash yeah black doesn't either this is annoying why don't men have pores i don't
know it's because of the years of makeup and bullshit we've done to ourselves i think yeah
it's also zach has like no sun damage i don't understand i'm covered in like sun damage and
he doesn't even freckle in the sun it's so annoying men men um okay speaking of men good
week bad week so um good week and bad week for some reason you know shit is weird during quarantine
for some reason chris and i have started living in our guest bedroom really wait this is weird
like your small one or like the you're like living no the like little small guest room that my
parents stay or Alex DeLeon stays in like, that's it. So it's just very odd. So I had this like
dental surgery and I've been sort of recovering and I wasn't sleeping through the night. Cause
like a couple of every hours, like I get up and I'm in pain or whatever. And so I like was kind
of setting myself up in the guest room with all my pills and my tea and my ice pack and stuff to
like, kind of just go in there and not like wake him up in the middle of the night. And then I got
in there and i was like wait this is a comfortable bed and then now we're on five days he has moved
in callie's moved in the phone chargers have moved in and now we're sleeping in the queen bed
um in the guest room that doesn't have blackout curtains like i don't know what i have the most
amazing master bedroom so this is just like very odd but i need to change you need to change it's
like i'm exploring the world but it's just the different rooms next we're sleeping in the kitchen
so funny that is that he's just moved himself in there it is he just missed you a million times i
love it well he was like he well first of all i will say and i have it linked on my amazon faves
but i got this 80 duvet off cover off amazon that is like the faux fur and it is like sleeping
on a spa like that sounds sweaty it is a duvet it's a fur like a faux fur duvet cover and so
you're just in the fur it's insane it's so comfortable so anyway i bought a king size one
chris doesn't fit in a queen size bed guys like his feet it's like ends at the knees for him so
anyway i got a king one we're gonna switch over i might go back to my regular bed but anyway
okay well that's my good week bad week but the the weird thing is that there's no weird week
kelty and good week bad week no i know the bad week is that i kind of moved because when i'm
hurting and i kind of want to be alone like i want to just have like i'm taking these paint
colors and you're gonna get the perk of sweats like i'm hot and i'm not sleeping i'm like reading
at four in the morning i'm like i'm all up and down like i'm not myself i'm like i'm kind of
move to the spare bedroom so I could be alone. And then now Chris is like, it's weird if we
sleep in different bedrooms. And I was like, that was the point. Anyway. Oh my gosh. Poor Chris.
When we come back, we're getting healthy. There are a few things that give me the simple joy
that finishing cooking dinner, putting the dishes in the dishwasher and pulling out my
caldrea counter spray in the sea salt scent. I just do my whole kitchen. It smells so good.
it cleans. It's like the perfect thing at the end of the night to just be like, oh my God,
I have my life together. Seriously, these products are so amazing. I've never felt
like truly passionate about a counter spray before, but that is beside the point because
today I'm talking about hand soaps and moisturizing lotions. So I'm about to add another step onto
this. I'm going to wipe the counter, then I'm going to wash my hands, then I'm going to put
the lotion on and I'm going to feel even more like a spa queen. Basically they use these amazing
combination of essential oils from flowers and herbs, and they make these thoughtfully formulated
hand soaps, moisturizing lotions, and of course, my favorite, the countertop spray. We love them
so much. Caldrea's unique scents transform your daily routine. They really do. I can't say this

Now back to the Lady Gang.
Our guest today is a longtime friend of both Becca and I.
As a queen on Broadway with nine shows on her resume is what I found, but I feel like there's more.
She sang her heart out, wore a mini jean skirt on American Idol, and I watched it last night on YouTube, and it was incredible.
And like a fine wine and like us, her 30s are getting better with age.
and now she's made a pivot to be a certified holistic nutritionist and with a cookbook that
you've heard about all on Becca's Instagram, Fall For You, Simple Recipes For Thriving In Your Best
Body. This is a book about finding simple, delicious plant-based recipes. Her positive
outlook and inspiring story of growing her relationship with food is incredible, a perfect
way for us to start off the new year. And she's here today to help us fuel our best lives. Please
welcome to the lady gang katie mother weber yes oh my gosh i can't believe i got a famous
kelty intro that's like my dream i can't believe it thank you now you can like send that in every
single email 100 it's already happening i love it i love a pivot and i love a side hustle and
so was this this was already in the works when you were doing broad i mean you've been in every
broadway show so at what point were you like was it the was it the pandemic that caused you to like
to be like okay i'm gonna hunker down and do the cookbook or how did that work well so so first of
all i've been in eight broadway shows you were giving me too much credit that is so many that's
eight more than i've been yeah wait is there an off broadway that got put as a broadway credit
there was like a moment i'm not no you know it's probably because i went back into rock of ages
like 16 times and they were like adding it as credits. But anyway, I am, you know, I am in,
I am in the thirties, I am thirties, but this year I am going to be 40. So, you know, as a dancer,
I always say dancers age in dog years, you know? So like my, my body may be 39, but I feel like
I'm like way older. So I've been thinking for a long time, dancing on Broadway, you know,
doing eight shows a week and that grind of like, okay, what's next? Because this is incredible.
And it's a lifelong dream. And I'm so lucky. But I think I need to start kind of putting my head
into what's next. And that's kind of where I got inspired. You know, I've always loved
eating and cooking. And so I got inspired to get inspired to get certified in holistic nutrition.
and then the but the journey for you is very inspiring and what i love is i've been pretty
open for the past few months about going on this health journey because there's many different
kinds of ways you can feel your body and i was like in the snickers diet coke still didn't get
rid of that just missing the cigarette in that equation for many many years and i was functioning
right? And so then I, I sort of realized in the fall, which is so embarrassing that I'm also
going to be 39 this month. Like I was like, you know, I just want to be healthy. Like I just want
to have fuel. I want to have energy. I want to shine. I want to be glowy. I want all those
things. And I think that's what you're all about. And so I think that's why this is a perfect
meeting. So can you talk a little bit about your journey? Yeah. So, you know, I grew up in
California, um, as a competitive dancer, I'm like, I have kind of dual personalities where I'm one
part, like super laid back California girl and another part, like really competitive
and a rebel. So, um, you know, I, I always knew that in the dance world, you know,
body image was important and how you looked was important. And there was a lot of pressure
placed on me and as I'm sure a lot of dancers and just a lot of young girls, um, women, you know,
all of us, um, to be skinny and it doesn't at any cost, it doesn't matter, you know?
And so I really struggled, um, with that.
And, you know, from an, I just, from as long as I can remember, you walk by a mirror and
it's like checking how flat my stomach is or, you know, just this obsession that actually
was just my normal all the time.
And so I never really thought anything of it, um, until I kind of, you know, moved to
New York city and I ventured off on my own and here I am, you know, able to be in my own apartment
and nobody can see my dirty behavior of, you know, um, you know, yeah. Like just leaving a show,
stopping, getting, you know, three slices of pizza and a pint of Ben and Jerry's
and going to town and, and listen, like it's delicious. Um, but I wouldn't feel good and I
wouldn't feel good in my mind and I wouldn't feel good in my body. And I, and I couldn't shit,
you know, um, which is the priority. Yeah, exactly. And you know, and I'd wake up the next
day and I'd be like, well, that was, you know, maybe not the best choice. So no prob. I just
won't eat today. It's like no prob. And then I would wait and wait and wait and I'd be starving
and I'd be like, okay, here's my, here's my cashews, you know, I'm full. And then until
kind of, you know, I was on that cycle of like binging and then withholding and it felt, uh,
normal. And then I got pregnant and I, that, you know, I honestly, through all my kind of
disordered eating patterns, I never really thought it was a problem. And I never really,
cause you're thriving. Cause you're thriving. Like you're fueling yourself with shit. You
cannot shit. And you're like, but I'm on Broadway bitches. And I'm saying, yeah, I was working,
you know, a lot. And, um, and that felt great. But I also was like, why am I not comfortable
in my body? Why am I not comfortable in my clothes? Why am I always stressed out when
somebody hands me a leotard to put on? Like, Oh my God, people are, you know, I just wasn't
comfortable. And, um, you know, anyway, so I, I, it just kind of, you know, I got pregnant and it
led me to start thinking about ways, um, of, of how I could change my eating. That would be good
for my baby. It wasn't even for me. It was for my baby. And yeah, exactly. And luckily, you know,
I fell into plant-based diets. They seemed really interesting to me. And, um, but it really stressed
me out because putting a label on anything as the rebel in me is like, hell no, I'm not like,
I'm not giving up my mom's Christmas cookies that, you know, around the holidays, or I'm not
never having a burger, but, but I went for it and I went fully vegan. And, um, and within two weeks,
it was like my life changed. Um, it was amazing. My eyes were brighter. I was getting, I had a
newborn. I was getting the least sleep I'd ever gotten. And I felt more well-rested than ever.
I was going poop every morning. No problem. You can tell this is very important to me.
yeah and you know it just kind of and it and it inspired me to get creative in the kitchen
to kind of give myself like well what happens when you want something comforting to create
like comforting recipes that were vegan um but then that also became kind of part of the disorder
of being obsessed with being vegan and having these rules and being in this jail so that's when
I started saying it and, and started just feeding my body what I know would make it feel good and,
and sharing that with people. And it was really resonating and it just, everything kind of took
off from there. Yeah. Yeah. As somebody who has followed your journey from the beginning,
I feel like when I watched you as the vegan, well, I watched you from like, I mean,
I was going to say, you've watched me from my toxic relationship to some very bad decisions.
Yes. And I was making those alongside you. Yeah. Since knowing you in 2009,
I've watched this whole thing and it's like you've blossomed into someone who
is so incredibly inspiring and it doesn't feel like it's a phase or it's an evolution.
of you learning how to be better to yourself. And you've inspired me so much to take the crazy
analytical judgmental thing out of eating and just say, what do I want to eat? What's going to make
me feel really good. And your recipes have been so delicious, but also I think they're so simple.
They're easy to follow. Um, but it is such a good, it's a good reminder to everyone that
we're inundated with the calorie counting and the carbs and the keto and the fasting and then this
and then that, and you don't do any of that. It's so healthy and it's just so baseline what's going
to make you feel good. Yeah. You know, like when I, when I kind of started thinking, you know,
I would hear about these people thriving on a vegan diet or a paleo or a, you know, the South
Beach diet or whatever. Oh my God. Or even, yeah. Or even like, you know, like Beyonce eating like
some pepper. I know that was a throwback. Like South Beach? What is it? 2010? I think it was
Atkins or something. Yeah, totally. Totally. Yeah. But I would see people like really, you know,
having great results and it looks, you know, incredible and that's great. And then as soon
as I would start to look into it, it would be, it'd be like, you must do. And as soon as you,
as soon as I hear those words, you must, I'm like, no, God, no. You know, I'm out. Count me out.
And so, um, you know, and being vegan, I started to just super stressful.
Like I had a bite of ice cream, like don't tell anybody, you know, and then that's just
part of the cycle.
It's all about healing mind, body, and soul all together.
And so that's why, you know, I just wanted everything to be accessible and super simple
and tastes great and, you know, clean.
Um, and it just, and, and then it's like, I released myself from the food jail and then
I got the body that I wanted with, and it wasn't even the body, you know, looking a
certain way that was fueling me in this way.
It was really cause I just wanted to get healthy for my baby.
Um, so it was just kind of magical in that way.
Like you release the chains and the stress and everything just kind of like falls off.
I have like a, no, I was going to say, I think it's really interesting that you have that
perspective with when you went vegan, because usually you hear people going vegan and they're
like, it changed my life. And now I have the body that I want and I feel amazing. But I also had a
similar situation to you where I had like super bad disordered eating. And then I went vegan.
I went vegan, gluten-free, soy-free, nut-free, like everything free. And I was the most miserable
I've ever been. My body was at its absolute worst. I felt like shit. So like, it's not always the
end all be all for people and it doesn't cure all of your problems all the time. So I think that's
really interesting because you usually don't hear that most of the time. Yeah. It's just, you know,
I find it to be, you know, and there is not one way to do anything, you know, and I don't want
to harp on anybody who is thriving as a committed vegan or thriving as, you know, doing keto. Like
if whatever is working for you and like making you vibrate higher, that is 100% great. But
it's also just, as soon as I see like, Oh, my program is so easy. It just includes that you
must have this, this, this, and this on your plate at every single meal. And so I can't have this,
this, this, or this. Right. And then I started thinking, well, what if, but what if I do,
does that ruin everything? Did that just cancel everything out? Am I, you know, now I don't belong
or now I'm not worthy. And, and so that's why it's like, no, today I do want some really good
quality, you know, feta cheese on my salad and that's okay. You know, like, or, you know,
sometimes I'm like, you know, I really, I need a burger and I need it today. And I go out and I
find myself the best, you know, highest quality burger I can have. And I sit down and I savor
every minute and I enjoy, and I take note of how I feel after, if I feel great after, or if I'm
like, well, you know, maybe I overdid it there, you know, take note for next time and carry on,
you know, that's something I love about following you is that you're not in the business of beating
yourself up when you, you know, do something like that. It's, it's such an amazing, uh,
light way to approach it. And I have taken that into every time I've quote overdone it.
I think to myself, this is where we really screw ourselves is by punishing ourselves and harping
on that thing. Tomorrow I'll make better choices and it may be the same choice, but it's going to
be, it's going to be intentional. And that's why I love it. Because there is not one choice or one
meal that defines you. You know, it's about showing up and, and walking in your own shoes
every day. It's a daily practice. And some days you're going to be really tuned in with
how to feed yourself and what to reach for. And you're going to be inspired and it's going to
be easy. And some days, you know, some days not so much for me, there are days where I'm like,
I open a bag of chips and I'm like, I ate the whole thing. You know, I, I didn't just without
even thinking, you know, I, I didn't, yeah, so good. It's just chips and wine, you know? Um,
and I'm never giving that up, you know, the alcohol is never leaving. So, um, no, but you
know, there, there are just days when I do things where I'm like, okay, that wasn't great. And you
just, you just move on. Yeah. And that's so interesting too, because it's like, that's what
the diet industry thrives off of. It's like the guilt, like the constant cycle of guilt and like
the restrictiveness and the rules and everything like that. So the fact that you're going completely
against that is such a refreshing point of view because it's how people are and it's yeah and
it's how you can free yourself from that limiting jail of your relationship i have i have some
clients that i work privately with who are like they've had nutritionists before and they pull
out like a binder and i'm like i'm never first of all i've never i've had so many of those yeah
like i've never ever so much money to get a binder oh my god i'm not allowed to have five
hundred dollars a week. Yeah. And it's like a checklist of like, you will, you know, you will
wake up, you will drink this much water. You will have, you know, three ounces of whatever it's like
three ounces, you know, but it's just, you know, it's, and these people are like, and I lost 20
pounds, you know, doing this. And I felt better than I felt. But then as soon as it was over,
I gained all the weight back. And I'm like, well, you know, I want to work with people to
guide them on how they can just live their lives, eating healthy, but also having fun and not,
you know, not be in prison the whole time. So that's why I wanted to write, you know, my,
my books and this reset that I've written, which is just like recipes that you can pull from that
are easy that can, you know, it can live in your kitchen and you can flip and pick something at
any time it's like super accessible and easy and healthy and and it has to taste good if it doesn't
taste good then what's the point what's your favorite recipe like what's something that like
i'm glad you asked and what's like the easiest they're all jack i'm telling you i have not i've
never knock on wood screwed up any of katie's recipes and i've done probably a dozen like at
this point. But you guys don't understand. So I make cocktails on Instagram videos very terribly
and I had to make simple syrup by myself and I was so terrified just to boil some water and sugar
together. I'm like, is the stove on? I don't know. Boiling sugar and water can actually be
kind of like temperamental. So don't harp on yourself. It can be. It can be. So hard.
but these recipes really are so easy, but so delicious. And I'm someone who I'm going to list
a couple. Number one, there's, so she said her reset, her reset is something that just came out
and it was, it's these delicious recipes, ideas for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, um, to sort of
like, it sounds reset your body into, or reset your, whatever you need it for. Um, is, am I
explaining that right yeah it's totally you know you can use it it's a collection of recipes that
you can use as a cleanse if you want it's also you know but then i start getting hives when you
say like cleanse and reset like i start i'm like i'm like wait what this is something i can i can
make it cleanse i can make it to day four and then i'm gonna up and i'm gonna hate myself totally
and it's funny because you know as as i'm sitting here saying you know i don't want to be in food
jail and i don't want rules and then but here's my reset which is vegan gluten-free what you know
what i mean but yeah but it is just a chance to you know sometimes we sometimes it is good to like
clean up the uh the gut you know yeah um and kind of just like click into eating whole real food so
the reset is food it's zero portion control it's you can eat as much as you want of anything on it
and it's delicious and it's like you know everything tastes great it's soups and salads
and smoothies and avocados and, um, you know, giant portions of spaghetti squash and pesto and
yummy things that are, that are really easy. So you, you can reach for it when you just know,
like, I want something kind of clean right now, or you can, there's also the banana date,
the banana date smoothie is next. It tastes like a milkshake. Yeah. Banana date shake is good.
Oh, so good. But yeah. So sorry, I interrupted you. No, you didn't. I asked for, I needed clarity
because I know the reset thing is like, it can be a shocking word, but it isn't exactly like you
said, you can eat whatever, however much. And like I added chicken to my spaghetti squash mushroom
ragu, which was next level also delicious. And this is, this is my favorite thing. When somebody
who, who knows that they thrive as a meat eater, I personally don't, but if you know, you thrive
as a meat eater, that's like one of my highest compliments is when somebody is like, I took your
salad and I added shrimp to it or something. And when people are inspired by my recipes to make it
their own and cater it to what they know they need, that's exactly what I hope for. And I also
had some girl reach out to me this morning and Jack, what you were saying, are they easy? She
was like, I literally knew how to cook nothing. And now I feel like I know how to cook things
that i'm going to continue cooking because everything is so manageable and approachable
so i feel really proud of that i love that and also the thing with reset we're going to go back
to the uh to the recipes back up but so a couple months ago i guess this is like october now which
seems bananas but um becca and i went to we care and we did like a three-day juicy poop plans where
they like sucked out our guts i'm still traumatized i've never had a colonic yeah i've never had one
no i love a colonic and i'm pretty sure colonics are a load of shit
especially when you poop the bed like me and she was like yeah no and i was like on all the little
puppy papers and they were having like my poop was everywhere and they kept like having to replace
it anyway that's for another day on your weewee pads i can't but what i will say is that i remember
specifically so we went we went through this we're like let's experience it we went and on the way
home, Beck and I were having this conversation. We were starving and we were like, I think we
stopped at Starbucks and got coffees and like egg bites. And we're like, I've never had anything
taste better. And I was like, this is not how I want to live my life. But in the defense of a
reset moment, I remember us driving back and we're like, okay, well, what are we going to take from
this? And I said, you know, I know that I thrive being gluten-free. Like I can have all the dairy
in the world. I don't have a ton of dairy, but like I can have dairy. I can have whatever.
um but like the minute i like have a loaf of bread my face puffs up i can't poop i can't sleep like
i get a zit like i i know that my best self is a gluten-free self well also kelsey you have to it
you have an autoimmune disease and so do i and that is when gluten allegedly flares it up and
from the inflammatory yeah yes yeah so so i'm like but i can't i i always i often chose to do
the thing that was the worst for me. I was like, I just want to pancake at the diner and then I
would feel like shit. And so I used this moment, this reset that we went on. And I was like, I just
want to be gluten-free. Like that's it. Like I'll give myself anything. I can eat whatever I want.
I'm taking myself out of jail, but just do the thing that's going to make you feel great. And
I have done that successfully for four months. And I had a very similar aha moment as you, Katie,
where like I had gotten this new bikini or this, my friend's company made a bathing suit and I was
trying it on my my room and I looked at my body because I'm always looking at my body through
this like horrible lens of like you're worthless and shitty and old and gross and god you were so
much beautiful more beautiful when you're 14 and you're a ballerina like you know like all of that
shit and I looked at my body and I was like you know what I'm the best I've ever been yep I was
like I'm 38 years old I like myself it's not about being skinny I haven't weighed myself in years
but i was like i and it's it's twofold it's it's that i i feel like i look great but it comes from
your mind exactly i know that i have done the thing that's gonna make me feel good and i haven't
given up on myself have i cheated absolutely you know what i mean have i like been like i'm gonna
have the you know french toast with the hawaiian or the klondike milkshake that you made the other
day yeah but that i can have that whenever i want honestly that looked so it was delicious
my mouth is so from the surgery i was like i'm having a two condite smoothie but anyway my point
being is that there's there's a i i do actually like a reset and i'm someone who loves a new
notebook and i love a new year and so i like your idea of being like there's sometimes where you're
like you know what i just need four days where i'm going to stick to something or have this moment
and then you can get yourself on the right path is what i was trying to say i want a devil's
advocate that though but because why I like your idea of a reset where you're eating like actual
foods yeah rather than I mean I back in my day where I was like at my most disordered eating I
was doing juice cleanses once a month and it's like you're you're so hard on yourself to try to
like get through this thing that is so unnatural for a human body to go through number one this
is why I didn't go on the their little retreat with them because I'm like hell no but it's so
hard to do. And then when you do it and you've successfully done the cleanse, then you almost
feel guilted back when you start eating again. And when you start introducing more food into
your diet and you feel like you failed. So I like, I love your idea of it, where it's like,
you're eating normal foods. They're just healthier foods. And that's a better way to reset your
system than a cleanse anyways, because nobody should really be doing cleanses.
No, every time I've done a juice cleanse, number one, I've cheated every single time.
Oh yeah. And even as I'm doing the juice cleanse, I'm starving and I'm stressed about it because
I'm starving. And then I'm like, people, normal people can get through a juice cleanse. Why can't
I do this? And then it's just, yeah, it's just like guilt, shame, spiral. I'm hungry. I'm
miserable. I'm stressed. And like, I am at this point in my life where if it is causing me stress,
it is a hell no. And so I, I need to eat, you know, I love to eat. I enjoy it. And, you know,
people I'm actually in the middle of doing my own reset because what kind of person would I be if I
didn't do it? Um, but it's been great. Like I, there have been times and it's even in the beginning
where I've been like, Oh gosh, I'm hungry. And then I'm like, well, what, what is my advice to
people on this reset who are hungry, eat something. So, you know, I go and make roasted
potatoes and eat them. And I've been feeling so, so good. I'm getting these responses of people
who are sleeping amazing, who haven't been sleeping, whose, you know, acne has completely
cleared up. And this is in like a week, you know, um, people who have lost, you know, five, six,
seven pounds. And, and honestly, it's not about, it's not a weight loss cleanse. It's just to
check you in. It's to get you, you know, preparing your food, connecting with your food and
nourishing your body in an amazing way. I think that the thing I've taken from it too,
is that I'm eating way more vegetables, which is something that as an adult is, it feels like
something you should try to do just so you can live longer and like, I don't know, be healthy.
Yeah. So for me, I, being able to have the guilt free because there's no rules,
but also having all of these options and ways to nourish my body. Like I, like you said,
you roast a potato the other day, I roasted a ton of sweet potatoes and onions and all this stuff.
I just steal from your Instagram all the time. And I had that for the whole week. And every time
I just wanted something hearty instead of reaching for God knows what I'm used to reach for. It's
that, and I don't feel bad. And it's not because it's making me skinny. It's because it's making
me feel better. Exactly. You feel good after, you know, and, and it all just kind of works in
perfect harmony and it can be kind of a beautiful thing. And then, like I said, when you, when you
feel like, you know, you're, then you really trust your instincts. I, I truly do. My body's calling
for chocolate right now, you know, and, and when it is, then you have it and satisfy yourself. So.
So also your daughter eats everything you eat, which is how, you know, it's not some
crazy loony toony, like, no, it's actually good.
I love seeing your daughter reach for all of the delicious foods that you're making
and seeing a kid eat vegetables like that is not really that common.
Yeah, no, she gets like, I try to, you know, sneak like Brussels sprouts off her plate
and she's, you know, gives me the, this most horrible face that she, she gives me all the
time really but um but um but she loved you know I'm happy to be an example for her like that and
of course my kid still eats mac and cheese and you know whatever like all the time but it's just
good to be an example and you know kids kids are they're watching you know yeah so so you have um
obviously uh I'm using the word sprouted which is not the word I wanted but that's the one
Katie you have squash blossomed um into this which is incredible um Becca I want to ask you
about a recipe before we go then when we come back I think we have asked the lady gang and
because you are a fully formed human not just about vegetables um we want to get your you have
you fix the girl's lives like I can't wait you know yes but wait is there a recipe that you want
a shout out because I don't feel okay so there's there's the right what is the um
farro tomato what's the Spanish tomato farro it is disgustingly delicious like it's like five
ingredients it's really good it was the easiest thing to make and that's also what I love is going
to the grocery store for your ingredients it's so simple yeah you literally put it in the pot
put the lid on and 20 minutes later it's done it's like it's okay it's also I ate I think I
ate the whole thing in one sitting. It felt amazing. Um, and then I do love your deli salad
for something really simple and it doesn't require you turning your stove on Jack. Um,
and it's also great to customize. You can add, you can subtract, add your chicken,
add your salmon, whatever. And then the, uh, the mint, what's the mint, the mint chocolate
chip smoothie. Yes, it is. I'm into that one too. Yeah. So good. Mint chalk chip smoothie. That's
my new favorite too. I think I'm like, it's, it's just, I don't know. It gets you going,
you know, just really gets you going. It's so good. I love this. And the book is available

okay we are back so obviously you know how this goes because you're a lady ganger
so now you're gonna fix some lives i'm ready i give horrible advice i'm sorry i mean obviously
you know we do too okay first question comes from dana she says hi lady gang i've noticed that i
need to have absolute control in every aspect of my life socially where we go wait socially we go
where i want all the time physically i will exercise and go to the gym when i want food
wise i need to know exactly what foods i'm eating and will only eat selected foods etc
i enjoy being in charge and i've noticed everyone around me allows me to be that way but i am
noticing that if someone makes a suggestion outside of my control i get very anxious
how can i halt on the control and let things just go more wow dana it's a k-type life
the self-awareness yeah first of all congratulations usually you just go like
full steam ahead and don't think about it i think when you're that type of a person i have
a couple people in my life who they are this person but they would never ever acknowledge
it and i don't even know if they know this about themselves yeah usually those kinds of people uh
think they're like low maintenance. Yeah. Sure. I feel like I just do what I want. Yeah. Yeah.
Um, therapy. Therapy is always a great answer. I mean, I think this as a K type, it sounds like
you are a K type. Um, here, here's what it is. Your brain, what I've learned is that your brain
wants to make connections, right? And so you feel like in control when your body's like, I'm hungry.
and then it instantly makes a connection we're having you know we're going to dom's little
italy or whatever like you you want to have solutions constantly like servicing your mind
body soul solution so it's like what do i want to do something socially we're going to go to a movie
like you instantly want to like fix the problem and make a solution so that you can move on to
the next thing in your life and um i totally understand this and i actually don't think it's
a bad thing because someone has to make the decisions no but what about do you feel anxious
when somebody else makes the decision you do all the time when you're like i think we should do
this sweatsuit in a pink tie her face when we make suggestions jack yeah i guess you're right
i have it like in my mind this is exactly what we're gonna do and then when someone's like
throws me a curveball it's very stressful but i will say that your self-awareness is number one
and number two is that you may realize that when you actually do roll back and you just say
hey becca what do you think we should do it is so freeing like lean into this it is such a
beautiful thing because i know this is going to be shocking to you dana but other people have
great ideas too yeah well that's the thing it's like what you might maybe she needs to ask herself
like what what is going to happen you know like what bad would happen if i just like took my hands
off of this one and it doesn't have to be off of everything but maybe just try once like what's
the worst that can happen you know and just just try it out so true tiptoe into it you know i got
to a point in my marriage with chris where i was like i don't actually know what chris likes
because we have spent all these years just doing whatever the i wanted oh my god and i'm like you
know so when i'm like what yeah you know i will listen it's like all of you know well that's also
part of why people marry that's why he married you it's part of why he doesn't want to choose
he doesn't want to that's how jared is too like i make 99 of the decisions in our relationship
like men need that. I married Zach because he makes all of our choices and it makes me feel
happy because I don't have to think it's about, it's called balance. I also think just one other
suggestion for Dana's question. So I had a goal, not a resolution because resolutions are stupid
and they're dog shit. My, my goal for bettering myself this year, one of them was to be less
reactive. Um, I can be sort of knee jerk and a little emotional. And I, I, I hate that about
myself. So I told a few of my closest people, Zach, one of my best friends, my sister, I said,
here's what I'm trying to do. And I'm okay with you reminding me of when I'm slipping into this
thing. Like I'm allowing you to tell me when I may be a little more reactive than you think is
appropriate for the scenario. So maybe Dana can tell the people in her life, like, Hey,
I'm not super comfortable with this, but I'm trying to be better. First of all, those people
are going to love you for hearing that, that you have that awareness about yourself. Cause I have
a friend that I'm about to just never make another dinner reservation with her because it's exhausting
having to go her way all the time. So they're going to love it and they're going to help you.
Boom. I love that. Okay. Second question comes from not having sex. She says my son is four and
half months old. And since his birth, my husband and I have not had sex. After his birth, my
husband told me to let him know when I was ready. But since then, we haven't spoken about it until
last night. You'll never be ready. That's when he told me he hasn't had a sex drive because he is
just so tired and I am too. This has done a number on my confidence. How can I ignite the spark
again? What can I do to get us back on track when I'd rather prioritize sleep over having sex with
my husband. This is so hard when I, well, first of all, first of all, I got a divorce after I had
my kids. So, um, maybe I'm not the best person to ask, but, um, but, um, so, you know, after I had
a baby, I did not want to have sex and I am a sexual beast. Okay. She's a Scorpio. Yes, honey.
um but yeah i mean first of all i had a vaginal birth and and i just any people who have like
irish twins i'm like how did you you had sex two weeks after like i couldn't believe it when the
doctor told me she was like you can't have sex for six weeks and i was like six weeks there's
no way six months right well i well no but even when she said six weeks i'm like six weeks yeah
right. I'm going to be trying after three days, you know? And it was like, absolutely not nothing
get near me, please. And that's, you're in like, you're in the mama bear mode, you know, and you
go and also your hormones are like all over the place. So first of all, you can't, it doesn't
mean everything. Like the fact that you're having a hard time having sex after you had a baby is
number one, completely normal. Some people are going to get right back into it and some people
are not, and you have to allow, you know, some time and don't think that that is like defines
your future forever. Um, but you know, also just try to loosen up and get a babysitter and get a
little drunk and go on a date night. Yeah, definitely getting drunk. Yeah. Getting drunk
always works. It solves most problems until it doesn't. I do notice that a lot of happy couples
have a baby. And then the first year after the baby's born, like everyone's like, Oh my God,
we're having a baby. And I see all my friends and these people with like the birth announcements
and they're so happy. And then the relationship like is dumpster fire and some people come back
from it and some people don't. But what, like, I mean, obviously having a child is so, so,
so difficult, but what, like, what is that, you know, and you went through it and you didn't make
it. Yeah, no, it was, I, I had like a crisis, you know, I just was like, I remember I had a baby
on my tit, you know, nonstop. And I just all of a sudden was like, I hate this, you know, like
having this moment of, you know, and of course, again, that moment doesn't define my life. There
are moments where you hate it. And there are moments where it's like, oh my God, this is the
best thing ever, you know, and it's beautiful and wonderful, but it just, it, it's going to
highlight everything, you know, it's just like a put, puts a big spotlight on your relationship.
And if you're unsatisfied, you know, before having a baby is just going to make you that much more
unsatisfied. And if, you know, or it can really bring you guys, you know, closer together and
bond you in some ways. And, you know, my daughter's father and I are super close and bonded in that
way and thankfully we like we work great together and you know we talk to each other every single
day and see each other constantly so that's great but um yeah it just it kind of highlighted like
no this is not this is not it for me you know so that was that was my sitch thank you for
acknowledging that some women sit there breastfeeding and want to crawl out of their
own skin and um they hate it at moments yeah i can't imagine it being amazing it's you know
painful yeah it it's good in so many ways and it's so hard and being a mother is is everything
it's loving it and it's hating it you know at least for me i think for everyone and people
who say it's not they're just lying yeah to themselves or the world exactly okay we see we
see you all right last question comes from anonymous she says occasionally i will scroll
through the girls my boyfriend follows on instagram i'm asking to have my feelings heard i
know and we'll come across accounts where i see that he's been liking photos of girls showing off
their asses and very skimpy bikini pics is it wrong that this bothers me so much these aren't
just ig models these girls follow him back so they clearly know each other i just feel like this is
so disrespectful and gross but obviously it's a difficult subject to bring up without seeming
crazy and insecure how do i not let this drive me insane feel this guy yeah he's an asshole
i feel this so much i really do feel this though in not a liking way but you know like chris knight
has his secret instagram like and and does well no he has an instagram normal instagram
instagram but i know who and so he has all these music clients and they're all dating or married
to like supermodels and so he follows all those people because he only follows like this tiny
little group of people and i'll turn over in bed and i just see him and it's like naked girl in
lingerie naked girl lingerie but kelty your yeah your husband's a music manager this is yeah this
guy is like is like friends with random chicks on instagram showing okay that's different but
anyway when i see it it still gives me hives and yeah and that's justified you know justifiable
because it's his job and i don't think this guy's job has to do with following hot girls
i think the fact that like but i follow the hot guy off bridgerton am i not allowed i think that's
weird i followed for the long time and liked all of his posts i think it followed him yeah i think
that i mean nothing you can aj and when he had a six pack on dancing with the stars i was like hot
okay but here's the difference if chris introduced you or like what if you and chris had uh neighbors
let's say and they're just normal people no one's famous no one's this and you meet like the guy and
the girl and you decide to follow both of them on instagram because they're new they're your new
friends if the guy is like a take shirtless selfies in the bathroom mirror kind of guy
you can't like that like you can but this is a revelation this situation's even worse because
apparently this girl doesn't know who the girls are that he's making the pictures and they like
them back yeah and they're friends on instagram so number one he's friends with all these like
random girls that you don't even know who they are or how their friends or what their relationships
are. And then you're liking all of their like, what's her name? What's her name? Her name is
anonymous, anonymous. I got to tell you something. I got to break some news to you. The guy that you
marry is not the guy who does this. Yes. Yes. He may be incredible in bed. And if that's what
you're in the, in the mood for, then go for it. But if you want to spend your life with this
person, he's not it. Your husband won't even follow like even like Instagram models. That's
weird in itself. And then this is like another layer of weird random people. Katie, as a Scorpio
who you, you're, you get very jealous, right? Yes. I've gotten a little better,
but yeah, hell yeah. Well, first of all, when I say I've gotten a little better is that I will
I'm not hacking to your email anymore. Okay. I won't do that. I've stopped doing that. I've
stopped, you know, going through like secretly going through the text messages or like opening
every single app and being like, what's your history with everything? Where have you been?
But here's the thing. Instagram is public. Everybody can see it. And one of, I think they
got rid of it, but one of my favorite things was it used to be when you looked at your notifications
and your likes, you could see what other people were liking. Yeah. That's gone now. That's gone
now. And I remember I used to just see so many, you know, friends, husbands, or boyfriends liking
all of this nasty, you know, nasty shit. And I'm like, that is not okay. You are a scoundrel.
You're putting your feelers out there. It's a way of communication. And if it's Instagram,
you know she she can't feel like bad for looking it's it's out there to see so yeah I don't know
I think that's shady and it's not cool um but yeah but don't but you know hacking into email
is another level I guess isn't it so funny how you how you grow as a human being like in my 20s
I would have been like oh liking someone else's like nasty girl photos on Instagram is like yeah
that's like, honestly, I'd so much rather that than what's really happening. And then like in
your thirties, you're like, nope, no, no, thank you. Yeah. Your standards raise as you continue
on. Wow. Our standards raise. Also, this is how I know where the superior species is that I used
to see those notifications of some of Zach's guy friends in Atlanta and they were single. So it was
perfectly fine for them to do it, but they would be following like Olivia Culpo and it would be
like let's say matthew smith liked olivia colpo's photo and i'm like what is the does matthew smith
in atlanta what is he getting out of liking does he think she's gonna see oh my gosh matthew smith
in atlanta there's liked my photo the only thing worse is a comment a comment is now that is next
now level no comments on hot celebrity girls instagrams or instagram models please no comments
one of my favorite followers on my instagram though is a guy named jeff and jeff no matter
what say this he's gonna not eat you is probably a stalker all right well no he is and he doesn't
have a picture so it might be a bot but he doesn't have a picture no every time i post a photo the
photo can literally be anything it could be callie it could well not callie but it's like anything
and he's always like this would be great for a threesome every comment no matter what no yeah
A threesome, like with his wife?
Well, I don't know who Jeff wants to have a threesome with.
He has no photo.
So it's like, this makes me think of a threesome.
These legs make me think of a threesome.
And then Kelty receives Venmo's in exchange for foot pictures for Jeff.
I'm like, it would be a great threesome.
That's $3.99.
Yeah.
All right.
Well, listen, we've run out of time, but Katie, I do hope you will come back.
