Starting point is 00:01:20 Things are about to change around here. Each week we catch up with Hollywood's hottest girl posse, Kelty Knight, Becca Tobin, and Jack Vanek. Hello, hello, hello. Welcome to the Lady Gang. I'm Becca Tobin here with Jack Vanek and Kelty Knight. And Callie. Callie is here. Callie Knight is here. Callie won't get off of my lap. She's just like been such a good girl while we've been so busy. She's just chill.
Starting point is 00:01:43 I'm glad that you took the sweater off of her for like a while because I feel like she didn't like it. No, she hated it. She hates the sweater. When I took her to the voiceover. She won't really move. No, but it calms her down. It's like a weighted blanket for me is like a sweater for her. Or do you think she's just really anxious and like doesn't really want to move?
Starting point is 00:01:59 That's what I'm worried about. Yeah, I don't think it's calming her. She doesn't like the sweater, but she's the best dog ever when she's wearing it because she doesn't move. Because she's so uncomfortable. Well, sometimes life is hard. I also rescued you from the streets and feed you like high quality food. So, Callie, if you'd rather not have the sweater, please go outside and eat old tampons from the garbage like you used to. Wow.
Starting point is 00:02:21 Actually, Callie's not into underwear like a tampon. You know, some dogs are like really into underwear. A tampon and an underwear. Like a used tampon. It's disgusting. Yeah, Callie's not at all. She's a dog. I'm so, so excited to tell you my bad week.
Starting point is 00:02:35 So whenever you guys are ready. I'm ready. Let's just get into it. Now it's time for. Good week. Yes, it is. Bad week. Oh, no.
Starting point is 00:02:43 Can I go first? Mm-hmm. Okay. This week. Oh, God. Bad week or good week? Bad week. Okay.
Starting point is 00:02:51 This week, I put in my diva cup upside down. So, normally, you put. How? It's so obvious one way. Honey. Honey. Honey. So, normally, you fold it like this, and you put that in.
Starting point is 00:03:07 So, the little handle. Yeah. Look. Kelly's on the table. The little handle is sticking out a little bit so that when you pretend you're going to poop, you can pull it out. Right. Well, instead, I accidentally put the pointy part in. I'm grossed out.
Starting point is 00:03:22 Pointy part up. Do you know how difficult it was to remove? Well, because then it probably like suctions on the out. Yeah. Hold on. It opened up, created a seal that was impossible to. It was impossible to break the seal. So then, here's where it got really bad.
Starting point is 00:03:40 So the seal was impossible break after a lot of hijacking, fake pooing, like having both of my hands up there, like it came out and I was like, God, that was so aggressive. And then I went to my phone instantly wrote it down so I could tell you guys about it. But then just this morning, as I was peeing in my bathroom, I also noticed that in my major Diva Cup fiasco, an entire like murder scene of blood splatter had like splattered across the eye level at the at the door. And I had not removed it And so Chris Knight I don't know if he's noticed it yet I didn't even have time to clean it It's still sitting there
Starting point is 00:04:15 There's just some period splatter on the wall Are you for real? Yeah, sorry guys If you die mysteriously Just in the next couple days It's going to be Chris is probably going to go to jail Like accidentally
Starting point is 00:04:27 You're right You know No Okay, good week I discovered the greatest Instagram Twitter of all time It's called Brother Nature Oh, I've already talked about him before.
Starting point is 00:04:41 No. Kel V. Yes. He just changed his name. He's the one that had, he's like the deer whisperer. Yeah. But now he's like in, he's with all, I've never heard of this. This is a man.
Starting point is 00:04:51 I've told, well, great. I've told it as a good week before you dick. I don't remember that at all. I swear to God. I'm not going to go back and listen to 200 episodes, but let me tell you right now. Back us up. I don't think you ever talked about this. So brother nature basically goes around and narrate.
Starting point is 00:05:06 Jack, let me live. He narrates nature. So he'll see a penguin. He's like, Fernando, what's up, brother? Oh, how you doing? And he invents all these stories with his animals. And then he's like, Carlita. Oh, girl.
Starting point is 00:05:20 It's Carmela. It's his deer's name. Not Carmela. I would remember if it was Carmela. That's Christine's baby. Not Carmela. Well, it's Carlita. Whatever.
Starting point is 00:05:27 Whatever it is. Anyway, it's the best Instagram. Check it out. That's all. Jack, why don't you go next since you're so judging. I want to go next. I want to go next. Just judging up and down.
Starting point is 00:05:35 I'm not judging. Becca, did you hear what just happened? I could barely get my point across because Jan, I think she's wrong. She's definitely wrong. She's the best part about it. I swear that I'm not wrong. You might have written it in your phone book in the notepad, but you have not vocalized it to the lady gang before.
Starting point is 00:05:52 We'll see. I mean. Are you going to go back? I guarantee that all the things. I'm not going to go back and listen, but somebody is going to tell us if they remember the story or not. And I swear I've already talked about it anyways. Godspeed.
Starting point is 00:06:04 All right. Here's my bad week. um i would guys would be more upset by my story upset by your bladder yeah i am upset because i feel like chris might be like a murderer suspect soon so you should probably clean it up i expected a bigger response but okay oh um okay well my bad week is i love this one restaurant so much on the weekends to go to breakfast it's salt secure this is not a bug salt secure but all their breakfast place, not the regular Salt's Cure. They have a straight up
Starting point is 00:06:38 breakfast place. Because I've been to Salt's Cure and they didn't even make an avocado toast. The one on Highland? No, it's on Santa Monica. Oh. So it's a separate one and it's the type of place where you go to the counter, you walk in the door right away, you go to the counter, you order your meal, they give you a number and then you find
Starting point is 00:06:54 your table. Yeah. There's a lot of places in LA like this. Yeah, it's just not full service. Yeah, fast cash, you know. Fast cash. There's lots of places everywhere like this. Okay. These two girls walk in and it's very tiny restaurant. So to get a table, sometimes you get your number and you wait a little bit. No big deal. These two girls walk in behind Zach and myself and the one girl behind me goes, you want to grab a table to the other girl. So instead of
Starting point is 00:07:22 going up and making her order and waiting for her number, she goes and she cops a table that is against the rules. I hate her because I hated her too. I was like, you know what? That's not how it works lady you have to wait because i'm obviously going to get my food first because i'm in front of you in line and you got here before and i'm here before you i'm just not being a dick so i'm going to wait till i get my number because then everybody will get their food in the right order yeah but instead i was like i hope she sits down gets a table and then i'm standing there with my number and my bacon comes out yeah and you're holding it eating it yeah well she's just did that happen luxuriating on her booth.
Starting point is 00:08:03 I don't think she would care. She seems like a dick. She's a dick. She seems very soft. You guys, if you're at a restaurant. There's a way to do soft casual. Fast casual. Fast casual.
Starting point is 00:08:10 Soft casual. I like soft casual. Guys, if you have to get a number from after you've ordered your meal at the counter, that's when you table. That's when you sit down. Yes, I agree. Okay? All right.
Starting point is 00:08:20 But I'm glad we cleared this up. Here's my good week. With Kevin coming on this week, it reminded me that we haven't actually told the world that i also am a teen choice winner we discussed it the other day but i'm just sick of kelty introducing me as teen choice losing i have lost one but i did win a teen choice award for the series of glee in 2000 and i think 13 but you have not received said award i listen it whether you have the actual physical award i went up on stage to accept an award did they give you a diploma like a you congratulations on your to be honest with you i didn't really care so much
Starting point is 00:09:03 at the time had i have known that i was going to be with you i would have been like i'm gonna need a surfboard so guys no you know what i will say this because i also won a cast emmy you know what i mean yeah it's a cast i have a cast emmy it's not just like as an individual it's not an individual And so I see your Teen Choice Award win. Thank you. And I credit you on your life account. Ah, wow. We've really turned a corner.
Starting point is 00:09:29 And actually, Alex, can you make a note? Let's change that on the website. And change the bios of every media account. Now you're just being patronizing me. It should be Teen Choice Award losing and winning in parentheses. Winner and loser. No, it'll be Teen Choice nominated. And this is Becca's third time being nominated for a Teen Choice Award.
Starting point is 00:09:47 Her first win. was for the series of glee in 2013 thank you thank you i don't even think they do the teen choice awards anymore so i don't think they do oh no if they did we would definitely be nominated no we're just we aged out we aged out we haven't been teenagers in forever i'll tell you my least favorite thing to cover every year kids choice award i'm trying to feel older try to feel older than talking to like four hours worth of nine-year-olds about literally like a bunch of youtubers you've never heard of and you're like why is your clothes so cute why am i so old anyway Like, how much do you love JoJo Siwa?
Starting point is 00:10:18 Well, congratulations. Mazel tov, Becca. Mazel. Thank you guys so much. I'd like to thank the Academy. I'd like to thank the teens. You should honestly thank us because I think we have brought it up that you have won because you haven't thought about you actually winning in a long time.
Starting point is 00:10:33 I would have forgotten. And the fact that you pulled out the video as proof, you're like, I need, we're on a photo shoot. No one believed me. And she's like, I need to address something. Because you talked about how much you're a loser so many times. Because I lost in my category. And I don't really think a cast win is that impressive.
Starting point is 00:10:49 No, it's not. Because it had really very little to do with me. Right. Oh, well, with that attitude, sure. I think our cast win had a lot to do with me. Well, I'm saying. The heart and soul of this show. When did you win a cast Emmy?
Starting point is 00:11:00 Last year. Oh. I'm going to win another one this year, hopefully. Oh, so the one that you have is the cast Emmy. Like the actual Emmy you have at your house? Do I? So you're not really an Emmy award winning journalist. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:10 You're just an Emmy award winner. Cast member. i'm just asking for clarification because i didn't really know what the emmy was for i love this day when you win an emmy for a show when a television show okay have you ever seen the oscars a long time ago okay do you know when when okay have you ever watched the grammys yes okay when adele won album of the year do you know and then she was like beyonce this is actually for you do you remember that moment and like ryan tedder and all these other people came up on stage with adele yeah that's because when she put in the record it was all the people that had worked on it
Starting point is 00:11:55 right are also winning that grammy album of the year so you weren't adele of the that year of the i wasn't the adele but i was you were like songwriter number like 65 correct except they call it talent and star of entertainment tonight okay anyway this is way too long i'm bored honestly of my own like greatness yeah what's next jack i'm bored of my own emmy i'll make mine very fast my good week is uh one of our lady gangers posted in the facebook group about she was in denver she rented a car and she goes to plug her iphone in and my name of my phone pops up in the car so i had rented the car before her that's so cool how random is that that's so it's so creepy you know you're a celebrity now we can't have these things happening i don't know how to disconnect i don't
Starting point is 00:12:41 think she can get my information from the car no you can't but like was it a jeep no i wish it was like it was it an embarrassing car where you're like oh that's too who had this toyota corolla last it like wasn't like a great car yeah it was fine um but anyways that was my fast quick week my bad week is a bad week by proxy of an article i read online titled ghost and girls apartment turns out to be a total stranger hiding in the closet and wearing her clothes i was obsessed with this so here's just an excerpt that i love i just hear rattling in my closet it sounded like a raccoon maddie told foxy i'm like who's there and somebody answers me he's like oh my name is drew i open the door and he's in there weighing all of my clothes my socks my shoes and he has
Starting point is 00:13:28 a book bag full of my clothes i don't know what to do with that information it's real i cannot believe something like this that is my nightmare it's my nightmare oh my name is drew hi it's drew okay he just like pops up anyways on that note it's time for the show when we come back when we come back one of the gleeks is here now back to the lady gang our guest today started his music career in the boy band nlt and made a what does that stand for we're not we're gonna talk about it he made a successful transition into acting roles on the office true blood and zoe 101 but his career took off while he was rolling through the set of glee he met becca when she was rocking that tiny little glee ponytail and we've legit been trying to get him on our show for three
Starting point is 00:14:19 years he's a teen choice nominee and a sag award winner and he's also very handsome please welcome to the lady gang kevin mckale oh i'm sweating okay wait what was the boy name boy band called Let's all guess. Okay. Okay. N-L-T. Nothing like the shocker. Now let's talk.
Starting point is 00:14:40 Oh. Not like them. Oh. Yeah. Wait. I've actually watched videos online because there's one, right? What? There's a couple, right?
Starting point is 00:14:52 Yeah. Yes, there are. It was a moment. It was a moment. I'm sorry to bring that up first. Wait. No, it's fine. It's fine.
Starting point is 00:14:59 I'm not sweating. Did you guys, like, sing and dance? Yep. Okay. Yeah. I think that's why it didn't work, because boy bands didn't sing and dance at that point. Well, we were in the weird in-between. Yeah, we were too late and too early.
Starting point is 00:15:09 You were too NTO to be too late for NBSB? Yeah, we were too far after that. They're too young. Yeah, and then we were too- Oh, my God. I was like, oh, so after the New Kids in 87, and you're like, no, no, no. After the whole next wave 10 years later. And then a couple years before One Direction.
Starting point is 00:15:25 Oh, yeah. Yeah, it was like a weird time where people did not listen to one of the boy bands. I don't know why we were trying it, but- You were trying it. We sure did. But it worked out. Now, did any of the NLT help you with Glee? Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:37 All of it. It was actually a really weird... Do you think you got Glee because of NLT, like someone was a fan? No. Not in that way. But in terms of after getting the job... You mean Ryan Murphy didn't have the NLT disc in his car? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:48 He was a big fan. We never even had an album out. Oh, he didn't? Yeah. No, just a bunch of singles. Did you go to a bunch of malls? No, I did that prior. Where were you putting these singles out?
Starting point is 00:15:58 Like on iTunes and stuff. Oh, okay. Yeah. I don't know how long ago this actually was. Now, do you own the songs? Like, could we? No, we're not going to do this anymore. We're going to move on.
Starting point is 00:16:05 All right. So I'm very excited because Kevin is launching a podcast on the Lady Gang Network with Jenna Oshkowitz, who we love. And, you know, listen. Do you guys know what you're getting yourselves into? No. But we didn't know when we were going to start. We're going to regret this.
Starting point is 00:16:21 No, I'm really excited because our whole zhuzh for the network was, like, just put out shows that we want to listen to. so selfishly like we don't even care if anyone else listens but like i need something to listen to on thursdays and so yay we picked you great um honored i want to know this though yeah little ponytail first thoughts of becca on set when you first met her because she kind of is our resident like hard ass a little bit but on glee everyone that comes is like no she was such a hard worker and she was so beloved so professional couldn't have been nicer and just so friendly to everyone like little miss sunshine what is the real becca i think it was a little of both because we had a
Starting point is 00:17:02 mutual friend um dante and so i sort of would was around you more than i think i normally would have been because jenna knew you and dante knew you so i saw sort of the hard focused thing which i liked because it's hard to come into a set of people who spend every waking hour with one another we were very close and were not that welcoming to new people that'd be terrible yeah it was because yeah did you hate the new people too no but it was you haze her it's like clicky though it has it was absolutely clicky and it was unintentional it was just because we spent so much time together and had been through so much that we're like oh we have to do this again with a new person like we did it with cord and so like that worked we're like okay great and then like new people would
Starting point is 00:17:47 come in but luckily for becca becca i knew had like been on broadway so like she was legit when people had been on like i think if you come from the theater world the theater world is hard yeah if i've learned anything and so i knew she'd be able to hang but she was also those people are also super professional and work their butts off and so it was sort of that where it wasn't necessarily i don't think you were coming in trying to be overly friendly with everyone like oh my god i'm gonna be best friends like no this was a job you showed up and like you did your job very well and then it was and then i think i realized also you were the one i was like why are we so clicky why are we like this has to be hard for people and i think it was like
Starting point is 00:18:31 talking to you and hearing how you had some first impressions with people i was like oh well that's not them at all it's like oh we're assholes yeah who did i have a weird first impression i think you had one with naya maybe no naya was actually one of the nicest then i thought it was i think it was a girl i'm trying to think i don't remember who it was there was somebody i don't know i just you said so i don't yeah i don't remember specifically i do remember like having the conversation yeah so i just remember that it was something about the hair and makeup trailer and you had something with somebody yes and it rubbed you the wrong way yeah and i was like oh Yes, I know.
Starting point is 00:19:10 Was it a guy? I know, you remember? I remember. You don't want to say it. I'm not going to say it. Okay, great. I don't know. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:17 No, it was super clicky. But, like, you were very, Kevin was, like, one of the nicest, coolest people. No, but you were a turning point in my head because I was just like, guys, we got to. Not be such assholes. Like, this is hard. And, like, my whole thing, too, is, like, look, what we do is not curing cancer. Like, we're not saving the world. I know, but it feels important when you're in it.
Starting point is 00:19:37 Right. It's also taken over your life. And these people now become like your closest friends. Yes. And I feel like even if you weren't trying to make it clicky, it's going to get clicky. Yeah. You're spending that much time with somebody. But we got lucky because I think we came in right at the perfect time because you guys
Starting point is 00:19:49 were all starting to get sick of each other and starting to fight. Like the wheels were coming off. Like the personal lives of Glee. You're like, here, I'm going to insert myself into this situation. I think the fresh blood at that point in time was welcome because things were hitting. It's true. And also to have somebody come in who did know their shit. Like you came in and you're like, okay, she's smart.
Starting point is 00:20:11 She's tough. She's really good at this. And when you work with a lot of people and you're doing this day in and day out, you may get a little too comfy. Myself included in that. I raised the bar, asshole. That's basically what I'm saying. It's like, oh, yeah. We've got to learn our lines.
Starting point is 00:20:24 There's like a lot of money going into this. Like we should be professional and do our jobs. Right. And then you have someone comes in who's like, oh, I just got a job, so I'm going to show up and do it. And we're all like, why is she so serious? We were making like TV minimum wage, too. You guys were crushing it financially. Not comparatively to other shows.
Starting point is 00:20:42 Compared to us, though. Right, yes. That was crazy. Working the same amount of hours. I was pissed. Do you remember when you guys told me that? We broke down our hourly rate. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:51 It was... It was wild. I could have worked at Starbucks and made more money. No, dude. My ET... Legit. but like when you have a job where they own you where it's like a contracted job like this isn't any kind of job the teachers go through the same thing like you're getting this many dollars in
Starting point is 00:21:08 a year but if you want to go above and beyond and like do your extra things at night or whatever i'll make like four dollars an hour like i swear to god yeah we were i remember when you told me and i was furious but i also was just sort of that person like there was a time when no this is gonna sound like i'm tooting my own horn but i just would get really pissed off if i heard you did actually like when they were like injustices going because it's also like you can't do anything about it right you're like i get it you guys paid your dues too yeah we yeah you were also at that spot annoying the most annoying thing joining that cast was when people were bitching they're like i'm not making enough money to do this and i'm like do you know how much money i'm making yeah
Starting point is 00:21:51 yeah yeah that it's that is it's also such a weird thing because when you are that young and like look we were very fortunate because my brother called it he's like take their monopoly money because yeah this is more money than i'd be making at basically any other job and i was super super super grateful but when you get into that world as you said it's all you're surrounded by and so you're comparing yourselves to other friends who are on other tv shows and you know what they're making and yeah it's kind of crazy and you're like oh but our show costs so much more to produce because you have to buy music rights and we're basically doing three music videos so like it didn't really trickle down necessarily to us like it wouldn't other but the only reason
Starting point is 00:22:32 our show was what it was is because our show was that way in terms of quality it was quality yeah but like we had it was a musical so we had to pay for that if we were a half hour sitcom then And the overhead's not as much. So there's trade-offs. How pissed did you get when we found out, like, one day we were on set and we found out that the two guys on Supernatural are making, like, half a million dollars an episode? Well, to be fair, they're on season, like, 18. I know. I mean, listen, if anybody in the industry is working hard, they are working hard.
Starting point is 00:23:05 Yeah. I mean, no one's working that hard. Right. No one's working that hard. We were, like, singing and dancing. Again, not carrying cancer. Yeah. We were singing and dancing and sweating and, like, getting blisters and just being tortured.
Starting point is 00:23:15 And we're like, they're making how much to, like, sit in a trailer? To sit and stare at each other. Yeah. And have everything be CGI because I'm assuming it probably is. I remember we were doing, like, Rocky Horror. And fair enough, all the girls were in, like, crazy wigs and uncomfortable outfits. Everyone was complaining. And I was sitting there, I'm like, but you know what?
Starting point is 00:23:35 I'm like, this is so absurd. And no one wanted to hear it because I was coming in with it. But guys, we're so lucky. Get out of here, half-blood. Shut up. Fuck yourself, Kevin. We're miserable. And I'm like, but isn't this like what you dreamt when you were a kid of, like, we're
Starting point is 00:23:49 getting to play dress up. We're acting insane. You don't realize that it's actually sometimes not enjoyable. Yeah. No, that's why I'm glad my parents are like regular humans. And I think that's where like Hollywood royalty kids get fucked up. Because anytime I get too like on my high horse about like, they're not paying me another My mom is literally like, Kelty Colleen, I taught fifth grade for 45 years for, you know, and it's like they like knock me back down.
Starting point is 00:24:20 But I can imagine like if your mom is whoever and your dad is whoever and you've lived in a $6 million house your whole life, you're probably like, I deserve this. I deserve this. Well, Hollywood's like a crazy echo chamber where it's like you're getting this like reinforcement from everybody else around you. It's exactly what it is. Let's not just talk about money. this podcast no let's talk about your hot body no tell me about your transformation i gotta go thanks for having me you guys let's talk about it um the hotness overload i started working out at this place called ultimate performance fitness oh it seems fancy what
Starting point is 00:24:54 was the i hate myself then like that flipped you because before like my big transformation of like i'm gonna like try to work out now yeah it was just like three weeks and a really bad photo like three weeks of me like not fitting in my clothes and then i saw what was the tipping point i think it was i had gotten together with my boyfriend austin and it was that whole thing where we both just gained a lot of weight happy weight happy weight oh yeah because we were just like we love each other we don't care and he really doesn't care what i look like which is great like at all like that is dangerous oh it is and i had never i'm someone who like you know Just a slight body dysmorphia.
Starting point is 00:25:33 Just ever so slight. Just ever so slight. Listen, we all have it. Yeah. And so he was like, I don't care what you – he's like, oh, I hate when guys are like too skinny or too muscly. I'm like, I can give you that. I can work on that. I can do the kind of dad bod.
Starting point is 00:25:47 He's like sort of a pastry chef. So I was like, this is perfect. Croissants and love. And then it was like after a year where I was like, wow, I am shapeless. I like I my body looks like it's melting and just hanging out like above my jeans I'm like I don't know what honestly it was like I'm super I'm still hanging out above my jeans I'm still like best friends with my ex and like I came over one day and he I had like my shirt off he's like uh you gonna start working out again I was like oh I'm like can you take a picture of my back like let
Starting point is 00:26:24 me see what this looks like and I saw it and I was like oh my god why didn't you tell me sooner He's like, well, I was trying to be nice about it. I was like, this is crazy. And obviously it was not like big or like overweight. But for me, I'm shapeless. Your body was just floating on top of your pants. Just like the ultimate, like the definition of like skinny fat. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:26:45 And at this, around the same time, I had a friend who's a radio DJ in the UK. He texted me and was like, I've been doing this like transformation thing. They're coming over to LA. I told them that they should work with you and they'll like train you and you just like Instagram about it. And I was like looking at the photos and he sent me his photos. I'm like, this is not real. Like, this looks crazy.
Starting point is 00:27:07 I'm like, but what do I have to lose? I'm like, I don't care. You had a lot to lose. Yeah, I did have a lot to lose. And so I went in and met with them and they had just opened. There was nobody else in the gym and it was like the head trainer of the entire company. And they're like all over the world. He's scary.
Starting point is 00:27:21 And he's really, he's a big old softy. but like his energy is yes everyone's I have a bunch of friends that go there now and they're scared of him got a BME
Starting point is 00:27:30 big muscle energy yeah he's got big muscle energy yeah and he was like what are your goals are you going to take this seriously because we we want to achieve
Starting point is 00:27:37 something special here I'm like I don't know if I'm committed I would rock right out the door I don't know if I'm ready for something special yeah I was like
Starting point is 00:27:45 okay yeah well he's like so you want to do something special I'm like okay great and like now I love him
Starting point is 00:27:51 and we did it for like 12 weeks But within that 12 weeks, like, I was going out of town a bunch, and I was miserable because I was eating healthy for the first time in my life. You were so miserable. I was so mean. I was, like, sitting in my house eating turkey meatballs being like, I just want a brownie. But you still look good. Well.
Starting point is 00:28:11 You kept it. Because he was sad. I just started eating healthy. Well, there were some naked photos that I saw. I also thought if I got to that point where I was, like, happy with my body for the first time in my life, like, yeah, I'll post all these photos. I won't care. and then i posted a couple of them and the last one was like in my underwear the first time i've ever done that yeah it was hot i am so disgusted with myself i was like oh that's not for me just
Starting point is 00:28:32 because you you're like that guy yeah i'm like this is gross my roommate justin was like i'm like should i do this should i should i put he's like everyone on instagram does this why do you feel bad about it and i'm like i'm like okay yeah it's exactly what he said i'm like okay and i did it and as soon as i did it the world blew up well i was just like i hate myself why did i do that You have to celebrate, and that's forever. I mean, I could have archived it, but I left it. Yeah, leave it. You know what?
Starting point is 00:28:58 Leave it. I'm proud of you. I was like, I'll do it once, and then- One time. Yeah. Call it a day. Okay, and now you're also going to do some music. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:08 What's it like? What's it sound like? Because I love working for free. I know. You're insane. It's so fun. Passion projects are great. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:29:14 It is a passion project. Did you write the music? Yeah. What kind of music is it? It's like pop R&B-ish. Nice. Do what you know. it's basically just nlt part two oh no i'm kidding i cannot wait to listen to nlt
Starting point is 00:29:26 you don't need to yeah it's it was sort of because music was always the first thing it was the first thing i did it was always more of like an instinctual easy thing for me to do and i'm not getting any younger and i also at the same time like i'm too old to be putting out pop music like who cares but at the same time it is sort of a passion project in terms of i don't really care if it's successful or and i don't even know what that looks like nowadays so it's if i'm happy with the music if i'm happy with how it's rolled out and how we're doing it that's all i care about and it was the first time that i was like oh these songs actually feel like me they sound like me i feel like they're a good representation of my like self-deprecation
Starting point is 00:30:10 and all of that mess and so i was like why not and like me and my friends made them and we like them so like okay this feels like i should do this now yeah i felt like this was something you should have always done and i tried to and like during the glee days um at columbia they were like super nice that's the record label glee was with and i was really close with the head of columbia and he was like yeah let's just and he knew about the boy band and he's like we'll just set you up in sessions and there was like one summer i just recorded with different people every single day and i walked away with like 40 to 50 songs oh my god and i liked maybe three of them and it wasn't because i wasn't working with good people it was because i didn't know what i
Starting point is 00:30:48 wanted and i also like wasn't being honest about the music i was still like writing about girls or like tiptoeing around yeah like like tiptoeing around like that sort of thing and it was also like you go into a studio every day and you're working with people who do this every day right so like professional songwriters and producers can just like transactional yes and they're like spinning out melodies i'm like this is good but none of this actually feels genuine and i don't want to put out a song that's just about like oh baby this and oh baby that right because it didn't feel like i'm like i don't have to do this i want to do it because i want to do it right and so there was like a break in like songwriting i was like oh okay i should just probably write how i talk
Starting point is 00:31:26 and it's just like word vomits on everything and that's sort of what happened can we go back to you writing about girls in your music i remember i played a song for harry during the glee days and he was like yeah i like this style of music and it said like girl and he's like but he didn't say anything but because i just sort of assumed here's like a weird mind where like when people found out i was gay or whatever it wasn't like i wasn't being open and honest about it in a way or i just assumed growing up because i wanted to like be a musical artist and back then i was like oh well yeah i'm fine with just like being secretive about that no one needs to know so you thought that's what you like yeah i thought i had to do it and it wasn't but it
Starting point is 00:32:09 didn't like me up or like i was okay with it and i know that's not probably the best way to be but i was like that's just how it is and that's what i'll do like i don't mind at all and like at that point too because i was like young and it was still new i was like the secret of things sort of hot and fun but then at some point i'm gonna fuck your boyfriend yeah exactly but was there ever a time when you were on glee and it was at the height of its popularity and you felt worried about like people finding out your secret or were you always just like i mean whatever i think probably in the beginning i did um yeah i think that would be lying if i said i i wasn't concerned about it because i assumed that and also it coincided with me really being comfortable
Starting point is 00:32:52 with myself in that sense of like oh yeah this is what i like and at that point like you don't all of a sudden like i think chris colfer had it really hard and was really bad because he had no choice or like you're playing a gay character and all of a sudden you're 18 and maybe you don't know about yourself and now millions of people are going to idolize you and now you're forced into this position to be this person when it's like well how do i actually feel about this just because other people think they know their perception of you or have a perception of you doesn't mean that's how you feel about yourself or how you think you should be represented and i sort of got away with it because no one suspected anything yeah and so i mean everyone
Starting point is 00:33:35 on the side of glee suspected something i was gonna say yeah but like publicly no one questioned it because i was not playing a character who i mean it was super sexual character because he hooked up with everyone every girl including becca boom boom but like because it was a straight character no one said anything and so i could get away with figuring out do i care about this do i want people to know do i not want people to know and once i realized that people weren't asking or looking for it then it was sort of freeing and then at some point something switched was like oh i'm over this and i hate actually i think i am tiptoeing around what's actually going on and not answering questions completely truthfully at what point was that revelation because you
Starting point is 00:34:18 never had like a i'm out yeah no i didn't i was never like an la times cover or anything there was what was it like what was the i don't know like do you mean like personally well personally was it way was way before oh yeah publicly yes personally it's like almost a decade before but also like there was this this period of time where you didn't care and you weren't denying it and you weren't confirming it well i so for example one of my friends is tyler oakley who's a big youtuber who's done amazing things for the gay community because i also think that's anyway we can i digress about that but he we were having a party at my house one time and he's like can i ask you a question it's like why haven't you said anything publicly it was like super nice how
Starting point is 00:35:03 he asked and i was like you know what i think it's just because nobody's asked but i don't think that's an excuse because i remember like ellen page when she came out she said she was lying because it wasn't that no one was asking her or that she was lying when people asked her so that She just was sort of avoiding it. And I think that's sort of what I did because it was easy and that's what I was used to. And it's sort of like, well, it's been this long. Like, how do I do it now? Right.
Starting point is 00:35:32 Yeah. And also, I'm not someone who ever thinks about myself in this way where I'm like, who cares? Like, who's going to care? You're like, all my fans, my people need to know. I feel like if nobody's asking, does anybody really give a shit? That's how it happened when you like tweeted something. Yeah. I tweeted a joke about.
Starting point is 00:35:47 This is so recent. Yes. it was in like less than a year ago wait so what happened i so ariana grande put out a new song and i love me some ariana and it was like it was no tears left to cry yeah and that is recent last year yes it was like in april or something and i was like oh this song is gayer than me and then all of a sudden he tweeted that yeah like i'm like this is a funny joke but like yeah This is like a 90s house song that would be played in a gay club. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:36:17 And then it. People picked it up. Yeah. And they were like, Kevin McHale comes out. That was your coming out? Yes. No tears left to cry? And they're like, Ariana helps Kevin.
Starting point is 00:36:28 I was like, no. Yes. I mean, Ariana has helped us in many ways. The press is the worst. But I was so horrified because I was like. That is grasping at straws. I was really, I misjudged. Literally, this is how much thought went into it.
Starting point is 00:36:41 Oh, that's a funny joke. Click, click, click, click, click, click. There it is. It wasn't, like, my friend was out of town. Justin, my roommate. Yeah. Like, my best friend. And he's like, yo, do you have a publicist, like, working this story?
Starting point is 00:36:54 Like, you're coming out. You're like, we're trying to, like, get some, like, for all those years. I'm like, what do you mean? He's like, there's no way you don't. Why is it everywhere? I'm like, I have no idea. Because you had never, ever made, like, a proclamation about it. Have you, like, posted pictures with, like, your boyfriend?
Starting point is 00:37:09 So I randomly had started to. So here's the other thing. Yeah, I sort of I posted sort of seemingly secretive pictures like a couple weeks before that because I wanted to be open about this. But I'm like, I'm with someone who's a couple years younger than me and like maybe doesn't want the public attention of what this is going to necessarily bring. And that's also why the first time around, like my ex-boyfriend, like we also didn't do that because it's not just me. If I sort of say something, then it's just going to, it's going to be more people than just our families talking about it. I'm like, and that's not really fair to anybody unless they're down with it.
Starting point is 00:37:46 And it was sort of like, it's like, Hey, that's sort of like markeling you. And they're like, please talk about it. They're like leaking photos. Yeah. Right. Like, you know who I'm not getting along with? Kate. You know?
Starting point is 00:37:56 And he was like, Austin's the opposite. How do we know you're wearing Givenchy? Who's finding out? Megan's obviously telling someone what she's wearing. Colty's best. That's all. Anyways. we should get into that because i have questions but but i asked awesome when i was like this
Starting point is 00:38:12 picture is like really adorable and like i'm feeling very overwhelmed by how cute it is i just want to instagram it i know it's corny and he's like yeah i don't care i'm like like wait a second i was like wait i was like wait you don't care like i'm just want to like triple checked i gave it a couple days asked again i'm like do you care he's like no it's fine i'm like But you realize people may – he's like, yeah, whatever. I'm like, cool. Here we go. And I think that's probably why when I tweeted a joke, I was just thinking differently and like –
Starting point is 00:38:40 Yeah. I felt like that was your coming out was the picture with Austin. Sort of. But it was just like I feel really cute about it and I just wanted to Instagram this thing. I also feel like you're not necessarily – like why do you have to have like a big statement? Like I never came out and was like I'm heterosexual. I'm straight. I love Wiener.
Starting point is 00:38:59 Wouldn't that be great, though, if that was your tweet? I love Wiener. I just want everyone to know. So that's, like, very likely. Stop asking. I probably had to delete a couple of those tweets. I love Wiener. Kevin McHale.
Starting point is 00:39:12 No, but, like, isn't it bullshit? Do you feel like it's bullshit that that was something that you had to think about for so long? Like, why not just, let's just not. Well, you're like, this is just the way that I am. I think it's almost, not that I'm going to say it's, like, more progressive, but it's just you're not trying to be defined by it. I do think, like, I think there's a huge, like, bravery and courage in coming out. And I think I was not thinking in terms of, like, I need to come out. Because I've never really had a, quote, unquote, coming out to anyone, like, in my life, really.
Starting point is 00:39:42 Like, there was, that never happened. It sort of just was. And so I do think in an effort to sort of, like, normalize the situation, that, like, yeah, we don't always need to say something. I was like, well, this should just be. I'm going to be. and people will find out when they find out which is sort of what happened and then it turned which that was actually that was the biggest takeaway for me i forgot i forgot about this was how hetero what what people people were treating me like heteronormative like the press was
Starting point is 00:40:10 because they took it like it's a coming out i was like well no it's not i'm just like showing the person i'm with banger yeah and i'm like i like this song and they're like yeah it sounds like a gay club yeah people read way too much into shit yeah and so i was like oh we're not as far along as I thought because in an effort to normalize it, we should be able to be like, oh yeah, this is my boyfriend on a red carpet and that should be it. It shouldn't be a huge thing. But you only get there
Starting point is 00:40:35 because we've had people who've laid the groundwork for us to get to where we are. But maybe you're the first one, kind of. No, I'm not the first to do anything. No, no, no. Okay. Well, you're the first to play our game in a hat. Please grab it. We have a game from a hat. What's this game called? Whose hat is that? It's called Dirty Little
Starting point is 00:40:51 Secret. This is actually Alex's hat. I like the game in the hat. So we have put in a bunch of topics in the hat. Everyone's going to pick one word, and you're going to tell a secret based on the topic that's in the hat. I'll tell you my dirty little secret. Dirty little secret. By the way. Oh, wait.
Starting point is 00:41:09 Never mind. What? No, did I put Glee in? I didn't. I just wanted to let you know I did audition for Glee, and I did not get it. You did? What did you audition for? For like a Cheerio dancer.
Starting point is 00:41:19 I wore purple stretch jeans from Walmart to my audition. a couple times okay everyone did i don't want to start i'll start no we're each going to pick one oh wait like four oh wait i guess i don't the secret i'm confused okay okay who's telling a secret about this topic like has to do with this topic okay are your guys is very specific as well yes did you read it already yeah yeah okay becca's first airplane oh that's a good one Tell a dirty little secret that happened on an airplane. I mean, I basically fart from the time we take off to the time we land. High five.
Starting point is 00:41:58 I mean, is that a secret? It doesn't. No, everyone knows that. Nothing happens. I either burp or fart. It's one of the two. It's the same as the water bottle. You know when they put the water bottle beside you and by the end, the water bottle's like,
Starting point is 00:42:08 that's your body. You never thought about that? No. Come on, Kev. Not bright. Not too bright. You expand and then you contract and then it has to go somewhere. Okay.
Starting point is 00:42:17 Yeah, it goes somewhere. Right out my butt. Jacqueline, what's yours? whipped cream oh great and i you're lucky that i have something a story about whipped cream or it's not sexual it's not sexual or is it when i am lonely take ambient i put the whipped cream in my mouth i have woken up later in the morning to discover that i have eaten half of the whipped cream in my drunken not drunken ambient stupor that is terrifying like remember doing are you whipped cream like cool whip with a spoon or you whip cream like whip it like party yeah
Starting point is 00:42:54 oh shit okay kev backseat of car there's only one way out of this or in um in high school um my like little group of weirdo friends and i one night we took my friend kylie's navigator her parents navigator because it was big so we could all fit in it and we like drove to this like park and all just
Starting point is 00:43:23 made out with each other oh like all yeah boys and girls yeah well no the guys that make out
Starting point is 00:43:29 I wish but it was like girls with girls how many of you like seven of us like did you make out with a girl and then a different girl
Starting point is 00:43:37 and then a different like everyone just like went around like in the bottle mononucleosis stop mononucleosis I did get mono
Starting point is 00:43:44 the following year shocker mono sucks it's terrible all right okay mine is candles so uh my story is this i don't remember what young 20 something lover this was with but did you guys ever go through the early 20s when you were like overly sexualized yes that hasn't ended for me okay when i was like why you're with someone in their early 20s He's mid-20s.
Starting point is 00:44:12 He's 25. How old are you? 30. Okay. Yeah. When you're, you know, early 19, 20, and you really think, like, my job on the planet is to be a sexual fiant. I don't know if fiant is a word.
Starting point is 00:44:24 Like a napalm. Napalm? Napalm. Napalm. Like, my job is to be so sexual. So you're, like, faking orgasms so loudly. You're wearing, like, all the lingerie from Fredericks of Hollywood that is, like, $8.99. Yep.
Starting point is 00:44:36 And you're like, ooh, you know what I need? the massage candle that you then like drip the wax on and then you massage yeah well i did it once i can't remember who this is with but i seriously remember i was like dripping the massage candle on to like massage but it was not a massage candle it was just a hot wax candle honey that's it did you get a blister i did not i don't know yikes did it get stuck to his hairs it was just like really messy and not sexy and then all of a sudden like you're like oh let's turn the lights on and then you're in like a crotchless panty and you're like i'm 21 like what am i doing and it was to his back you know what i mean and it was before laser hair removal
Starting point is 00:45:14 so you've got like stubble that you don't want people to see yeah it's too much information all right on that note when we come back you're gonna help us fix our lives okay great hey ladies ask the lady gang are you ready to change some lives yeah all right finally finally all right our first oh wait no this isn't a question sorry our first question comes from lonely biatch lonely biatch says i was dating this guy for almost a year it got very serious very quickly and within three months he told me i was the one his mom always acted like she adored me as she told me i was such a delight compared to his last girlfriend well we were about to move in together he never officially asked but would say things like i want you here all the time
Starting point is 00:45:59 let's make this home for you bring your stuff over what can we get to make this more comfortable for you etc etc sounds like a nice guy after i brought up moving in with her son to the mom she suggested that i have the official convo with him well a few days later i brought it up to my boyfriend and he exploded at me saying it was too soon the next day he broke up with me he cried so hard during the breakup i kept asking why and he really wouldn't give me an answer i sort of think the mom convinced him to break up with me what do you girls think should i not have gotten close to the mom in the first place is there such a thing as a mom sabotaging her son's relationship that's a lot there's always such a thing yeah and a mom she can be your mother-in-law she can be
Starting point is 00:46:43 your best friend she still loves her kid more make no mistake i there's just a lot happening in this story well he got freaked out but it's also possible that he's just a little unstable yeah he sounds unstable really also i think when you nothing against relationships that happen very quickly but it seemed like there were at least three red flags in that thing you just read yeah and i think when it gets really hot and heavy that quickly and like the mom's into it like it seems just a little out of balance and almost like he was testing like he's you sometimes you say you know when you're in a new relationship you're seeing how far you can push it and you're Like, I just want, why don't you just stay here more?
Starting point is 00:47:27 But, like, do I mean that? Have I thought about it? Like, what are the pros and cons? Where's my pros and cons? Well, it's like when Zach and I first started dating, I wanted him to look at me like he loved me, but I didn't want him to tell me he loved me. Yeah. Ooh. You guys are complicated.
Starting point is 00:47:41 No, but the thing is, yeah, no, that's so tough. No, I know. No, no, no, too far. But that's the thing, especially with guys, I think. Wow. Really jump the gun in the beginning of a relationship. Because they're looking for that ego fill. Yeah, and maybe it makes you feel a certain way and then you say things that you don't really mean and then when it actually becomes reality.
Starting point is 00:48:02 But the fact that you would immediately just respond to that with a breakup without actually having a reasonable conversation. So I think if you really are in love with somebody and you guys are having a healthy relationship, then that's just like a normal conversation. Like a no stress sort of, is this something we want type of thing as opposed to, I can't believe you would ask that, we have to break up now. Yeah, well there's a lot of anxiety in this relationship And it is really hard to jump into a relationship that fast Because shit is going to change And something's going to hit the fan Okay, they've been together almost a year
Starting point is 00:48:34 Girl, it's over You don't want that mom anyway But also, I don't know about somebody who responds that way Yeah, no, it's not cool Like one moment of confrontation And then you just lose it That sounds really familiar to me Okay, second question
Starting point is 00:48:50 got some dark over here second question comes from anonymous anonymous says this guy asked me to hang out one night after i heard he was interested in me by his friends however once we got to the restaurant he barely spoke or looked at me in the eyes i felt like i was carrying the conversation and when i tried to turn it over to him he gave short answers with no room to follow up how can i tell if he was just shy or not at all into me so awkward he already jizzed in his pants and he was trying to hide yeah oh skee skee oh whoopsies i mean he's shy yeah i think i this is relatable to me because i'm not that shy and i am sort of like an open book and so if i was in that position i would be like why aren't you responding how i would respond to you
Starting point is 00:49:42 and i think to be with somebody who's sort of against your exact type is really hard because you only see things through your perspective so you're like well i would never be responding that way or like he must not like me yes because if you're responding the way he is and you don't like that person but that doesn't mean that he doesn't like you at all because that's not his way of communicating or expressing yeah right and if you already expressed that he was interested in her right maybe like a text because if he has like an introverted type of person that's not super open with sharing how he feels like a little text
Starting point is 00:50:16 in the beginning could at least like make it not super awkward I mean it is hard dating is hard to begin with and I think if you already have let's say maybe it's a social anxiety or whatever it may be at least he did the thing of like initiating
Starting point is 00:50:32 like let's go out I don't know but you don't just want to sit there talking to a wall give him some time throw him a bone, throw him a text Typical lady gang. Just have some drinks. Could have had a few glasses of wine.
Starting point is 00:50:46 Get a little tipsy. Could have loosened them up. Okay, last question. I'm almost 24 years old, and I have a bachelor's and master's degree. I started my current job back in September when I was still finishing my master's, and now that I have finished, I'm struggling with the low amount of money that I make. I'm trying to save money, but I don't have much to save. I constantly stress out over not making enough money while still wanting to buy nice things.
Starting point is 00:51:09 Do I stick this position out for a year or is it acceptable to look for another job? Oh, my God. I mean. Well, you went to school for your master's. Go get that master's job. Go get a job with your new master's degree because nothing is more. Well, I'm going to be more gentle here. There's no point in going back to school for a master's degree if you're going to stay in the same job that you got before you had your master's degree.
Starting point is 00:51:36 You spent money. You invested money in your education, so it's time now to start making it back. This is the problem of ladies, I think, that deal with it.
