Starting point is 00:02:07 Because apparently Kelty and Jack are so tech savvy, they don't know how to use Google. So if you have trouble finding us now with the wrong name, maybe you're not smart enough to listen. Okay? That's true. Kelty, who's coming on? Oh, my gosh, you guys. My buddy Lacey Chabert is here, and I was so obsessed with her when I was young
Starting point is 00:02:25 because I was a huge Party 5 fan. I'm probably older than everyone else, so you probably don't know what Party 5 is, but it was a really big television show. She's also Gretchen Wieners, and she's Prager's, and she's awesome. All right. It's time for... Good week. Yes, it is.
Starting point is 00:02:39 Bad week. Oh, no. Okay, Jack, we haven't started with you in a little while. Okay, I'll start. um so my good week i found my own personal heaven on earth and it is cheese oh a cheese board kind of but what is it um so scott took me on a little surprise adventure last weekend and it was to the francis ford coppola winery and at the winery they have this amazing pool so you can go do wine tastings and then go lay out by the pool or like go in the pool and then they have bocce ball
Starting point is 00:03:17 so they have all these games pool service food wine tasting but there was cheese or no cheese becca said that cheese was my habit on her i said cheese i thought she was gonna say she found like an amazing cheese because you know her good weeks are usually pretty mediocre this actually is good congratulations you know what i did eat cheese when i was there i had a mozzarella sandwich okay well there you go there you go so cheese was involved and you took a really obnoxious photo and i got and i got the jack photo oh my god thank god and you know how we did that we snuck onto the winery or the vineyards and tied two vines together and put the tripod onto the vines that's embarrassing that's embarrassing why would you even admit that i wanted to snapchat it so
Starting point is 00:04:01 bad but my phone broke it was just your phone broke because it was tied up by vines just p.s okay bad week okay so my bad week so it has to do with this winery so scott and i like to pretend that we're like sommeliers like wine connoisseurs but we don't know a thing about wine like we'll go to these tastings and i'm like i taste like red wine like i never know the difference but when we're there we'll be like oh you know peppery yeah it's really smoky and cherry and whatever so we're at the winery we're having our like wine tasting with this person and we're sitting there and he takes it i'm like oh like what kind of nodes do you smell or do you smell when you're tasting nodes isn't it notes he's like i smell cherry nodes and uh tobacco nodes and the lady's
Starting point is 00:04:46 like you guys do know it's notes right you idiot so him and i both i don't know if it was me that thought it was nodes this whole time but him and i have been calling it nodes for the past six months of us dating and then the lady at the winery was like dude it's notes and you both have no idea what you're talking you guys are like you know how romey and michelle they go up to the diner counter and like do you have a businesswoman special we literally are we're like we like dumb and we don't dumb dummies okay that's pretty good um but my my bad week's actually gonna crush yours okay crush it happened today and i was driving here and i'm like don't you love when it's like a last minute yes it's the best because
Starting point is 00:05:29 I'm like, oh, it was a mediocre one. You know, it was like, it wasn't great, whatever. And I'm driving here and I'm on Melrose and I'm at a stoplight and Melrose is like crawling with crackheads, like homeless, whatever. It's a really, it's a hotspot. And I'm at, I'm at the first person at the stoplight and I see this guy shirtless, totally drugged up, crossing the street, coming from the left. And I'm like, okay, just look forward.
Starting point is 00:05:54 Like, don't look at him. Don't look at him. Cause God knows I trigger whatever that is in their brain. and he almost gets to the sidewalk across the street but stops in front of my car to take a piss and no he licks his belt his he licks his finger and sticks it in his belly while looking at me you got like sexually harassed it felt like quite the violation oh my god i feel violated i was just seeing this out of the corner of my eye and I'm just like
Starting point is 00:06:29 fuck. And I'm just like shit. He is going to jump on my car like a spider monkey. He's going to break my windshield. He's going to get in here. It's going to be awful. And he just instead of doing those things because you know that's where my brain goes. He takes his shirt because his shirt's off
Starting point is 00:06:45 and he lassos it around his head and starts giving me like a striptease. Oh wow. I swear. This is on Melrose? Melrose. Melrose and what? Like Crescent Heights. that's not even crappy melrose it was crappy and um finally i just what is it with you with these people i have something like an essence you're so blonde and cute they just come for you i have the resting bitch face and i feel like that should be a deterrent they should know that they're not going to get like a good reaction out of me no big doe eyes you know what it is it's we manifest
Starting point is 00:07:17 things i manifest fedoras and you manifest it's true it's true he he i i put it out there before even got in front of my car i made that happen yeah okay so that's my bad week it was disgusting what's a good week um good week was uh zach and i made an offer on a house oh my gosh i feel like an adult i've never felt more like an adult or poor or poor well not yet because they haven't accepted the offer yet but i really want you guys to put out good vibes because the la housing market is insane and people like take houses they snatch them away from you and they break your heart so we find out monday there's an open house on sunday i'm not going to be in town but if anybody is willing i'm going to pay people to go out there like with like machetes and kill everybody else
Starting point is 00:08:02 no like just where you know someone died in that room yeah do you know what happened in there or like someone i'll pay someone like go my boy zach said he was gonna pay a homeless guy to go jerk off on the driveway just you should get the guy that you saw earlier i should have see i dropped Not his number, not his number. Dropped the ball. I could have been like, sir, I love your moves. Would you like to take those over to blah, blah, blah Avenue? Like, I have a job for you.
Starting point is 00:08:27 You want to make $5? Yeah, so that's my good week. You little mortals. Your good week, bad week. Oh, God. I know. Okay, my bad week was pretty gross. Someone stuck their finger.
Starting point is 00:08:36 I can't talk today. Someone stuck their finger in their mouth and shoved it in their belly button in front of me. I like to tell mine like a story. Okay. Yeah, you're really good at this. Picture this. Picture this. Good week.
Starting point is 00:08:49 By Kelty Knight. Picture this. Ah. Oh, God. She's wearing such a great outfit. The paparazzi has been called to follow her. Oh, my God. She's so excited.
Starting point is 00:08:59 I'm dying. She can see the paparazzi waiting for her. Did you call the paparazzi? This is good week. This is a good week. She did call them. Of course I called the paparazzi, but not this time on myself. Someone else called the paparazzi because I was wearing clothes.
Starting point is 00:09:12 They wanted to get paparazzi'd. So you basically facilitated. I facilitated a call. You called the PR company that gave you the clothing. You were going to be at this spot. Yeah. So you did call the paparazzi. You had a middleman call the paparazzi.
Starting point is 00:09:23 Okay. Anyways, continue. But it wasn't a direct call, which I have also done this week. Just as bad. Oh, my God. Just as bad. Continue. So I'm very excited about calling the paparazzi, and I can see the paparazzi, and I'm, like,
Starting point is 00:09:34 posing. Oh, my God. I'm doing a walk down the street, and I have a little white handbag, and I go to, like, lightly. So that was the good. Hold on. just the good week was oh my god the pup i called the paparazzi and they came okay did it suddenly turn bad yes once you know i'm shocked i have the little purse and i'm like just kind of like
Starting point is 00:09:57 looking like i'm looking in the purse or whatever and somehow i go to like get my hair out of my face and with the purse in my hand and one of my tiny hair extensions that i have the bonded hair extensions gets caught on the zipper of the purse and it rips out of my head while the paparazzi is taking photos of me coming down the street and then i'm like oh my god what am i doing so then i pull the hair from the purse and i stuck it in my back pocket i've done that so many times with extension hairs i have like hairs like in random pockets where are these photos i don't know they haven't come out yet but i'll keep you posted when they get on prez you are insane yeah here's the greatest thing about calling the paparazzi and yourself when you're me nobody wants the
Starting point is 00:10:38 pictures no it's like my pictures like nobody wanted those you're like they exist on the internet but no one's buying it no they're going on like i don't know some dartboard across america i don't know did you guys not think that was a really good bad week it's it's definitely a healthy bad week yeah it was fine but i love how like you always think you're gonna crush us i love how you think that me being accosted by a homeless person is not as bad as a hair extension falling out of your head also you have the biggest champagne problems in the entire world like oh my got a hair extension came out when the paparazzi was flashing me so bad seriously all right well coming back we're all friends coming back lacy hey ontario come on down to bet mgm casino and

Starting point is 00:12:07 night because on wednesday night in canada at 8 p.m they played party five and it was my life that show was my whole life and it was back in the days you young basic biatches probably don't remember this but there used to not be dvr and if you didn't get in front of the tv at 8 p.m like god forbid you had to pee you were out and it's never playing again you missed the whole thing No, never play it again. So the fact that I'm sitting next to slash friends with our next guest is pretty incredible. Lacey Chabert is an actress, voice actress, humanitarian, and of course, most people know her for her iconic role as Gretchen Wiener's from Mean Girls, which is damn iconic.
Starting point is 00:12:46 And ever since she wasn't able to make Fetch happen, she starred in like a gazillion television shows, movies, and she's expecting her first bundle of joy. Woo! Yeah! Welcome to the Lady Gang, Lacey! Hi! Welcome! Thank you for having me. I love, I think you guys are so great. I enjoy listening so much,
Starting point is 00:13:02 so I'm very happy to be here. I didn't know if you're going to be able to get to the mic. I want to just put this picture in right now. Lacey's sitting all the way up in her chair, but she could barely reach the mic because her belly was like a tiny bit lower. We could fit the table. I feel like between my belly and the bottom of my boobs, you got to put the mic on your belly. I'm at this stage where it's a table. Yeah. Like my friend and I, my friend is here. Kim, we were eating the other night and I literally like stacked my little tub of guacamole on my belly. That's the dream. I was like, this just got really sexy. I'm just really living the dream now. So, and I'm going to segue right into it. You said it. Can you still have sex when you're
Starting point is 00:13:41 pregnant? How does it work? Do you feel like having sex? Nice to meet everyone. Well, yeah, I think unless you have a medical condition that is, you know, dangerous to do that, you can. Do you feel like you've poked in the baby? Well, I'm not going to lie. There's like a little part of your brain. It's like, Oh, this doesn't feel right. No guys. I was just listening to another podcast where they're like, the penis is so far away from your baby. So don't worry. But it's still poking something. That's not, I mean, it's poking the same things it was poking before. I feel like it's like a human in there, I guess, but it's so far away. So you're says it's totally safe it's fine there you go okay we're gonna pause on the baby questions
Starting point is 00:14:27 we're gonna come back to that even though we're interested we have so many questions you're like an alien i want to start with that you've been very very very busy working and i love that you had just posted on your instagram that the secret to working while you're pregnant on a movie is carrying 700 bags talk to me about what you've been working on when everything comes out and why you decided to work through this pregnancy well you sit at home i'm sitting at home now This is, like, the last thing I'm doing that's remotely work-related. Okay. Because I am tired.
Starting point is 00:14:58 Oh, my God. I bet. Like, I don't think – I never understood just how taxing it is to be pregnant. And, I mean, I thank God, knock on wood, I've had a very healthy, easy pregnancy. But I've been having a lot of pain, and my ribs are completely out, and that's just been incredibly hard. So I'm ready to sit down. But the last movie I just finished was for Hallmark, a Christmas movie. And because it's Christmas and it's winter, you know, I'm wearing coats and scarves.
Starting point is 00:15:19 Carrying presents. Carrying presents and just trays of coffee and carrying around Christmas trees, standing behind Christmas trees. It got to the point where they were like, just shoot a close-up. We can't hide it anymore. Just shoot a close-up. So there's a lot of close-ups in the movie. But I love working so much. I've worked since I was seven.
Starting point is 00:15:37 So the thought of taking a year off just seemed like an incredible amount of time. And I do want to take some time off after the baby. I don't know how much, but I just thought if I can continue working, then that would be a blessing. Was it hard for you to decide to do another Christmas movie because after last year's Christmas movie, which I cried in, that Mariah Carey was your producer, director, director, director. Yeah. And co-star. Co-star. And she had different lighting than you.
Starting point is 00:16:03 She had different lighting. It was so unfair. Lacey was like in a bleak lighting. She had like Jesus lighting. And then she had her Mariah lighting in all her scenes. I was like, are they in the same room? They're not in the same room. You know what?
Starting point is 00:16:14 I was like, yeah, can I have your lighting, Mariah? Can I have some of that, please? How long does it take for them to set up that lighting for her? Oh, they're pros. It wasn't that bad. They just whip it out. Wait, so she really had a different lighting than you? She had a very specific lighting setup.
Starting point is 00:16:27 And you know what? Doesn't she always do that? More power to her. She knows how she looks her best. And I think we should all know that. I know. If I could walk around with that lighting in real life, I would. Amen.
Starting point is 00:16:34 Same. Fun fact. On the red carpets of Hollywood, when you do press, her lighting guy stands behind the cameraman and lights her stuff. What kind of? Is it like a ring light like that? It's kind of like, no, it's like a lighting panel, but it's really honey colored. That's why she looks like golden.
Starting point is 00:16:48 That's all I saw. I love when you sing on the podcast. I had so much fun working with her. I was like, it was a dream come true. And every day would be like a Mean Girls reference. Or she's like, do you think we could maybe take a picture and I could say something like Mean Girls? Because it's Wednesday. I was like, do I care if you do that?
Starting point is 00:17:07 What if you said, yeah, don't do it. Seriously. Like, remember why I moved on. Not today. You're too obsessed with me. Okay, so you have been working since you were seven years old because you were in Les Mis, right? Yeah, I was in Les Mis and did commercials
Starting point is 00:17:20 and did all my children when I was a kid in New York. And then you were in my favorite show of all time, Party 5. But what has been your Hollywood heartbreak? Because you make it look so easy, and honestly, you have such a great, joyful demeanor. And I'm like, when does it get hard for Lacey? When's the dark moment? There's been so many of them.
Starting point is 00:17:38 What is it? Was there a gig you didn't get and you just wanted to push a girl down the stairs? Yeah, I can't even remember. There's been ones where I've auditioned for like 27 times and, you know, learned music and memorized an entire script and poured my heart into it for six months of auditioning and then not gotten the part. And there's, you know, there's been ones that have totally surprised me that I have gotten. I mean, Mean Girls was a surprise to me. How did that go down? It was a random audition, but the character description for Gretchen was just very much physically the opposite of my body type and how I looked.
Starting point is 00:18:06 And I thought maybe I was too old for the role and I was supposed to be 15 and I was 20. and I was like I'm never getting this part which is kind of the ones you get because you go in there with no attachment whatsoever you're like I'll just have fun with it because it was such a funny script and I related to it so much and I just auditioned and they put me on tape and Marcy Learoff
Starting point is 00:18:24 this wonderful casting director who's become a friend and I tested for it and got the job and probably had no idea it was going to become such a cult classic no idea I knew it was funny while we were doing it and it was just a pleasure to be on set every day and make people laugh
Starting point is 00:18:39 But I had no idea that, what is it, 12 years later, people would be talking about it more now than I feel like they did even then. Do you find that annoying, Gretchen Wieners? Do people offer you toaster strudels all the time? Yes, they do. Do you know, now that I'm pregnant and I've announced that I'm pregnant and sharing it on social media, the number one question I get is, are you going to name the baby Gretchen? You finally made fetch happen. Or Gretchen Wieners finally got some.
Starting point is 00:19:08 That's the number one quote. It's awful. Gretchen was hot. I don't know why people don't think you were getting anything. I always used to think that Gretchen, you, Lacey, were the most attractive of all the women. And I was like, she's the cutest one. Why is she not, like, the main bitch? You're so sneaky.
Starting point is 00:19:27 It was confusing. You had, like, a cute little bod, which will come back after this baby, I'm sure. Oh, Lord. I hope. um has it been weird though in those 12 years to set sort of see like the rise and fall of everyone and how have you dealt with that because i'm sure everyone every second is like do you still talk to lindsey is she crazy like all that stuff so how do you like just stay above the fray um i mean there's really nothing for me to stay above or out of because it's just kind of i was
Starting point is 00:19:52 friends with all the girls when we worked together and then you know life has taken us in different directions and i don't get to talk to them as much um i haven't seen lindsey in years but i always wish her well and hope she's doing great and and there's there was not a negative thing from that experience i had such a fun such a fun time on that set so many good memories is that why you like to do christmas movies because that was also around christmas and you want you're hoping that someone has a choreographed dance routine in one of these movies you don't know exactly why okay here's the Broadway right i think so you need to do it oh my god would you do it i would do it in a hot minute i you have to i would love to i don't know who i would play though i
Starting point is 00:20:30 You're Gretchen Wieners. Really? Theater, you can literally be 80 and play 15. Yeah, you're so far away you can't see the wrinkles. You're so far away. It's true. I think you're going to do it. But here's the thing.
Starting point is 00:20:40 So when we did the dance routine, and I don't know if I've ever shared this with you. I don't dance. Like, I have to. But you do dance. Like that bottle of rosé. I have to have that before I can dance. And literally I'm, like, sweating like I am now. But now I'm just sweating because I'm pregnant.
Starting point is 00:20:55 But, like, sweating out of complete nervousness. And I can't dance. And I'm in this short little skirt, and I'm so worried about that, and the heels. And everyone else just has this amazing ability to just naturally just, like, rhythm and just dance great. And I'm always behind. So, so many times, Mark Waters, the director who I love, would yell, cut. He's like, Lacey's behind again. I was my character from the movie.
Starting point is 00:21:19 I was the most awkward one. That's amazing. Typecasting. Yeah. Whoops. Pretty much. Okay. So, you've had rejection.
Starting point is 00:21:28 Yes. some harsh. I've had tons of it. Did you cry? Absolutely. There's been so many times where I'm like, Oh, is there anything else I'm passionate about doing with my life? And like, we've all had those moments, you know, but it's like, it's all worth it when it does work out and you feel inspired again. And I, I love telling stories and playing characters that resonate with other people. So those moments where it does work out really make all the, the heartbreak worth it. And it is heartbreak to me. I take it so personally.
Starting point is 00:21:58 They tell you not to. And after, I mean, I've been doing this for 20-something years. I still take it to heart because I care. I care about my performance, and I care about the characters I get invested in. And it's, I don't know. I think that when you stop caring, it's probably the time to find something else to do. Amen. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:15 Your ish moment. What's the moment where you thought, I am it. I am the gem. Check me out. Like right now, you mean? I mean, pretty much right now. I'm sweating pregnant on the podcast. Can't really lean forward.
Starting point is 00:22:29 Can't lean forward. Ribs out of place. Guacamole. Bouncing the box of cupcakes. This is it. This is the best to get, Lacey. I don't believe you. Have I ever had...
Starting point is 00:22:38 Okay, well, winning a Golden Globe on Party of Five when the show won, that was a pretty amazing moment. Where do you keep a glove? I was 13. It is... She doesn't even know you. Oh, my God. It's like an addict somewhere.
Starting point is 00:22:50 Give it to me. It is... I think it's in my living room. It kind of, it kind of travels around. P.S. If we ever won anything, it would be in the middle of this table beside the Roseanne. Well, here's the thing. You feel kind of obnoxious, like, having it on display.
Starting point is 00:23:04 No, you don't. You don't. You do. You don't. No. Kelsey would carry hers around with her everywhere she went. I'd be like, oh, do you have a pen? Sure.
Starting point is 00:23:11 Wait, hold my glove. It's true. It's true. Yep. Okay. That was a pretty awesome moment. But did you even realize how awesome that was when you were 13? I mean, I don't know if I knew like, I don't know if I was sophisticated enough to know
Starting point is 00:23:25 the impact of it, but I like how, what it spent, but I knew it was special and it was an honor and we were there and I was in a tuxedo because I was a tomboy. Oh my gosh. I want to see this picture. My mom let me wear a tuxedo with like silver Doc Martens. That's cute. Because you were awesome. That's so cute.
Starting point is 00:23:42 Because you were the raddest. That's really cute. I was just a late bloomer. Question. I, I didn't really realize this all happened and I'm questioning why on your social media You don't refer to yourself as Golden Globe winner Lacey Chabert. I know. I was actually thinking of that.
Starting point is 00:23:56 You were? You guys, let's change it right now. Who has their phone? I turned my phone off. Darn it. You have homework. You have Lady Gang homework. We're going to want to see the switch.
Starting point is 00:24:07 I mean, I have some other awards, too. Should we just start listing all of them? Actually, you should. Teen Choice, People's Choice, all of them. MTV Movie Awards. Nickelodeon. Don't they have some kind of awards? Yes.
Starting point is 00:24:18 I don't know if I have one, but let's just say I do. no one will check um if the fact checking is good as it is on the lady gang no one will know the difference um okay so uh let's get into the pregnancy we are not pregnant we don't think we don't think um why jack tell us some of the things that no one told you no book prepared you for even your mom didn't let you know were going to happen to your body and self when you got preggers um the oh gosh there's a lot of stuff great all the things can i share what my sister went through and then this will open it up let you know how loose we are here um sorry jess so her nipples instantly turn darker that that is a thing why so that it's like it's no it's like
Starting point is 00:25:11 nature's way of getting them darker from what I've read that so that the baby can see the nipple better. That's interesting. I'm so fascinated by pregnancy that I have every app you can possibly have on your phone. So every day I read all of this stuff. Is it a cucumber today? Yeah, no, she's a watermelon. She's a full baby. And she has eight weeks to go. I'm like, my gosh, She's growing hair. Yeah, she does. I was actually at the doctor today, which is why I was almost late, and they actually saw that she has hair.
Starting point is 00:25:45 Oh, how are the ultrasounds? Are they, like, insane? Oh, unreal. Unreal. We did a 3D one recently, and you can see her face. So crazy. You can see her face, except that she was holding her legs up over her head. Like a stripper?
Starting point is 00:25:59 Yes. That's what my sister said. She's not a lady. Is her name going to be Dusty? that's amazing that's happy baby yeah there we go there's where it came from it must probably i think they love to like hold their feet and then she was chewing on her foot which is just like the cutest thing it just melts your heart stopping so joyous did you fart what's happening with your body take it back no you know what i didn't know you get all these like veins like
Starting point is 00:26:28 on your belly and stuff and it looks like yeah i feel like spider-man it's very weird and it's They said it's just all the blood going to the baby. So that was very interesting. I also didn't know my rib cage would feel like it was literally breaking open. And that's been pretty awful, to be honest with you. Do you eat or have to pee all the time? Are you full? Is there any room for the food?
Starting point is 00:26:51 There's no room, but I find room. Wait, don't you get hungrier when you're pregnant, though? Starving. Okay, let me just tell you something. Okay. So in the beginning, like the first three months, either you are very sick, which is obviously terribly unpleasant and horrible, and people really suffer from it. I'm glad I didn't have that.
Starting point is 00:27:06 Or you're starving, and you eat like a cow all day long, which is what I have done from day one. Literally, I count until it's like I think it might be okay to eat again, and I think about what I'm going to eat while I'm eating what I'm eating. I do that anyways, though. But you still have cheekbones. Yeah, I know. This is unfair. I don't think so, you guys.
Starting point is 00:27:25 No, you do. I've had to just get over it. And look, I had to be aware of my body and how I look like my entire life. And so, you know, being an actress, being on camera, you're constantly looking at yourself. Yeah. But it's been a little like this last movie. It was, I'm like, well, I've never weighed this in a movie. That's for sure.
Starting point is 00:27:45 And I just had to remind myself that it's okay. I'm only human and I will go back to normal. Hopefully, fingers crossed, by some magical way after the baby. And just learning not to be so hard on myself. We're too hard on ourselves. We judge ourselves too harshly. It's ridiculous. And, you know, and social media is the best and the worst.
Starting point is 00:28:02 The first picture I posted after I was pregnant, which I didn't even show my belly. It was just my friend and I sitting there with our faces. The first comment, wow, you're really getting chunky. Wow, your face looks fat already. What? Yes. What is wrong with people? Which I take such delight in deleting those comments immediately.
Starting point is 00:28:18 That's so rude. Goodbye. Yeah, goodbye. But people can just be so judgmental. And then this was my favorite. Last week, this guy comes up to me. i'm buying something at a store and he goes how far along are you and i tell him and he's like oh oh wow well you're having a c-section right i was like a guy a guy i was like no why he goes
Starting point is 00:28:37 you're huge that is a huge belly that is and you are a tiny person i was like oh my gosh you have no idea i'm like i don't think you're that big thank you i don't either like it's not like you're i mean you're saying it so i'm being compassionate to your feelings but like i don't see it in my brain thank you that but people just like have like there's no filter all of a sudden like it's okay to just say whatever you want um baby names are you you have it's gonna be a secret okay but are you a crazy ode mountain type of baby namer or are you a george she's like they're a little bit it's a it's a family name so it's a very classic name and the middle name we've kind of made up i don't think it's a real it's it's sort of a hybrid of a real name oh so it's i've never
Starting point is 00:29:26 heard it before it might be a real name i've searched it online and nothing comes up so i think we kind of invented it sort of i don't know that's amazing i worked with a guy whose parents were big hippies and his older brother got to pick his middle name so his older brother was only like four at the time and they're like so what do you want to name what do you want the middle name to be for your little brother and his name is derek josbin josbin j-o-s-b-i-n where did how did what is it cute yeah talk about making up a name you're like okay and i kind of want to do that like i kind of want my adorable isn't it it's amazing because who really knows anybody's middle names who cares either so it's so good derek josbin josbin did they let the little kid pick the
Starting point is 00:30:16 brother's name at any point or well no because he got screwed because his brother was already named so it's like you have so unfair yeah well so keep that in mind for your second fantastic and let me know what they come up with because that's good is the baby moving the baby has been moving the baby kicks the baby loves the lady like crazy she's super happy to be here she's she's also got her head in my rib cage and i'm in a lot of pain are you gonna let her be in show business I don't know The truth is I had a good experience And I was very lucky
Starting point is 00:30:46 But there are parts of it It's an adult world for a kid And my parents were super protective As I would be if she were in it But I definitely dealt with a lot of things Much earlier in my life Than I think is natural Are you going to make her an Instagram page
Starting point is 00:31:02 When she's born And get that locked off Probably i mean here's the thing my husband as everyone points out on instagram there's never been a picture of us together he's incredibly private he's not in the business he doesn't want to be part of my business and i respect that so i don't post pictures of us and i post pictures of tons of other friends and guy friends and people are always like is that him like it's some conspiracy oh my god like dolly parton yes because her husband's only been seen like three times in
Starting point is 00:31:34 50 years. Okay. That's how Dave and I are. And it's, it's, he just wants to stay out of it. And so I'm like, you know what? Okay. So he's incredibly protective over the baby already. And it's like, I don't think you should be posting too many pictures on social media. So we'll see. She'll definitely have her private account. Yeah. Are you going to do a little magazine baby spread at home with Lacey and the new baby? I don't know. I'm not sure. Yes. I think you should just get lots of money. Yeah. Yeah. Make them pay for all. Yeah. Put it in an account for her. You know, she'll be really happy later. Compound interest she'll she'll enjoy it later she'll love it okay pimp that baby out pimp it pimp it out
Starting point is 00:32:09 um and if you won't we will uh okay so the like-a-lady question of the week is what is the craziest thing you have ever done for love becca get engaged insane because it's an insane concept no i'm just kidding uh craziest thing i've done for love i don't know i'm gonna have to come back to me jack jack i know you have some crazy things in there not as crazy as when i'm ready for yours not even i know why would you say mine are seriously i'm not even i'm not even ready stole a dog out of your ex-boyfriend you know what jack oh yeah i just listened to that i didn't steal that dog that was a good no you rescued that dog for sure that made me so sad that story i know that is pretty sad i never knew that um
Starting point is 00:32:55 i when i broke up with my ex-boyfriend i thought i was in love with this other guy that i had known for like five years and we'd always been good friends but never kissed but then there was always something between us and i was like you know this is fate like we're finally gonna be together blah blah so i wrote him this like love letter that was like five pages long i hand wrote it and i sent it to his house like confessing like everything and being super vulnerable and to this day he has never responded what what's his name i would i'd love to say it yeah that was is he a famous person no no no normal he's not a band guy he was in the band world like he was like a roadie yeah no you professed your love for a roadie here's the thing
Starting point is 00:33:40 i'm really glad that nothing ever happened from it but i was like devastated when i did it because i'm like this is like my whole heart on the floor that like and he never responded no response That's horrible not to respond. What? Did he not get it? Oh, he got it. How do you know he got it? Because he, like, sent me a picture.
Starting point is 00:33:55 He's like, I'm reading it. Did you deliver it in your vagina lips? Here. Wait, so he sent you a picture and said, I'm reading it? Like, I've talked to him since then, but he has not. Oh, you have ever. He has not acknowledged a response to the letter, which, thank God, because obviously things worked out for me, but.
Starting point is 00:34:13 Wow. Yeah. That's bleak. That was pretty bleak. Becca, are you ready yet? No. Okay. Lacey?
Starting point is 00:34:18 crazy thing i mean i don't have any good stories you guys i feel so boring um no you're just not crazy see mine wasn't even crazy either i was i was like deeply in love with scott wolf someone on party five like me wasn't everybody which is so gross to say now and also like my brother wait was he jack from lost is that who no that's matthew no love matthew also very cute actual real name scott wolf was on party five you know what i'm not sure if we can be friends anymore and he was so he was like the hunky one and i love i had the teen beats of him kelty i'm gonna say something that's gonna hurt you oh god you worked with him no you're this is too it was too yeah we're jack is too young we're too young we're too young we didn't watch party five no
Starting point is 00:35:05 did you hear that word i wanted to say it but you were a child on it I was a child, so does that count like I'm still young to you or no? Yeah, Kelsey's face right now. It was before our time. It was before our time. Oh, gosh. How young are you guys? Not young.
Starting point is 00:35:24 You know what? 30. 29. You know what? Let's move on. Lacey, what have you done for love? I snuck out of the house to go see. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:35:33 Scandal. Here we go. This is my dark moment. But my parents were very strict, and I was very good, and I just like, I sound like the most boring person in the world but i snuck out and i went to my sister's house and i said that i was like sleeping at my sister's house and she was in on it and i went and went and visited my boyfriend who my parents didn't know was my boyfriend and they uh how old were you i wasn't i was i was like this is the worst 18 i should lie right now i was like 15 but i was like 20
Starting point is 00:36:03 shut up you're illegally an adult in canada no big deal are you but i still lived at home and i oh my god my dad's very conservative like i didn't want to know you had a guy like i mean i was like i was afraid of doing cocaine and nightclubs at 20 and literally i made it back home no there was nothing wrong with him they just didn't want me dating him and so i made it home in time to like be back there because i knew my mom would like convenient she was on to me i knew she would conveniently come by and she called my sister at Like, 5.30 in the morning. Like, how was you guys' night?
Starting point is 00:36:40 She's like, we're sleeping. And luckily, I was there. She stopped by, too. Oh, my God. That's not a very good story. That's a great story. Yeah, really. That's a fantastic story.
Starting point is 00:36:48 20 years old. That's cute. I lived at home until I was 21. I mean, I could have moved out any time I wanted, but I just was very concerned. You know what? You were smart. Because everyone's in a big hurry to move out. I would move back home now if I could.
Starting point is 00:37:01 You know what? Food, someone cleaning up after you, rent-free. And it's always, like, a nicer house than you're going to move into. when you do that when you're 21 for sure oh god yeah kelty why are you you're coming back to me yeah i don't even know i i i have no idea i i i honestly can't think of anything i don't think becca's ever done anything crazy no i just sort of i don't know i'm just kind of trudging along i mean oh well yeah i don't know i really i i'm sorry you're such a man you are legitimately dick sand you are dick sand i'm the dick you are the dick sand i'm sorry all right well i'll throw
Starting point is 00:37:36 it down for all of you i'm ready i met a guy in new york city when i was living on 97th and amsterdam i met him one night we stayed out all night he was going back to the city he lived in the next morning we made out on my doorstep at like four in the morning no the sun was up 7 a.m i don't know when i'll see you again i don't know when i'll see you again either i had a sidekick so we exchanged numbers on my sidekick t-mail and then i was very poor at the time i really liked him and so my girlfriend lived in his hometown where he was going back to so i found a way to go visit my friend the next weekend and then i got to his town and i was like oh my god you're never gonna believe this i'm in your city we should meet up but i planned it to
Starting point is 00:38:26 like go and see him again what was his response on purpose what we went out okay and then we dated for a while really yeah it's pretty but he doesn't know that i like set up the whole thing what city was it like was it i don't want to say he's gonna give it away no but anyway that's pretty tame i was expecting something really wild from you i should know me too i think i did something like that too you like faked that you were gonna be in a city like oh my god i just happened to be here in your city. Let's make out. And I happen to have my hair and makeup done. I'm wearing a really cute outfit. I got a spray tan. Here's the worst part.
Starting point is 00:38:58 I know exactly what I wore on that date, and let me just describe it to you. A flare Hudson jean with like a nice flat pocket with a button. A H&M silky cami because it was in like those era like the silky cami. You are so 2002. And a silver
Starting point is 00:39:13 kitten heel. Oh, God. Wait, this thing, this actually might, this is reminding me of something that might thank god bye i feel like i have to burp okay i when i started dating zach uh he was living in atlanta and i was living here and we had seen each other like over christmas over the holidays and then he was coming out to la for work and he asked if like i wanted to get together and it was very casual he wasn't like let me sweep you off your feet let's go away for the
Starting point is 00:39:43 weekend it's like maybe i'll see him for coffee maybe it'll be dinner maybe i'll sleep over like i just don't know but i spent an entire day getting ready meaning like anything you can possibly imagine waxing waxing nails tinting nails um blow out um a spray tan the night before like every like i was getting ready to go to the oscars but probably doing even more so that's probably the craziest thing hundreds of dollars in an entire day and we could have just been going a coffee. I mean, we went to dinner, but like, it's a lot of work and a lot of money. I don't know if men always understand. They don't understand. They don't even notice. Now I barely do anything, any of the above. You're like, I'm not sure what my vagina looks like
Starting point is 00:40:29 now, right now. You're welcome down there. I can't make promises. He's like, what happened to that golden brown baby seal I made love to? Like now there's just a bush and I can't find anything. Yeah. And here I am. She's gone. Okay. On that note, we're going to help you figure out your lives. Hey, ladies! Funk it. Ask the Lady Gang. All right.
Starting point is 00:40:49 So we're all eating cupcakes. Thank God you brought us. And they're amazing. And you're going to help us answer our listeners' questions. I love this part. Okay. Oh, yeah. You know.
Starting point is 00:40:59 You've listened. Okay. Before we start, if you guys want 20% off of jackvanek.com, use code LADYGANG at checkout. I brought you a mug and a notebook. Thank you so much. Also, don't forget to remind people about the Facebook group. Oh, yeah. And join our Facebook group. Search The Lady Gang
Starting point is 00:41:14 and start talking about all the things. We might approve you. Yeah, I approve everybody. This is the best cupcake ever, by the way. Is it? I'm so glad you like it. What is this icing? It's just heaven. It's just everything that we shouldn't eat, but we should every day. I just need to scruff it down.
Starting point is 00:41:30 Alright, we're starting. Alright, so first question comes from Ro on email. And she says, I've just been offered a new job that I've accepted, which I'm super excited about. However, it means leaving my current job and my quote-unquote work husband we're a flirty pair and the work banter is amazing but i feel like it's extended into more he has a girlfriend but he's constantly talking about their problems and doesn't seem to be doing anything about it
Starting point is 00:41:53 am i barking up the wrong tree i feel like the flirting goes back and forth but i have been wrong before how can i tell if he likes me or should i forget it and move on with the new job oh god becca's face right now becca's about to give you some truth serum and And go, Becca, go. Okay. This guy's a pussy. Right? Or he's just a flirt.
Starting point is 00:42:14 Or he's not into you. He's not into you, first of all. He likes the attention you're giving him. Yes. If he really was, he would have done something about it, first being breaking up with his girlfriend. Yeah. I think he just honestly likes the attention, and I think you need to stop giving it to
Starting point is 00:42:29 him. And if you go to this new job and you hear from him, like, hey, I broke up with my girlfriend. I'd love to take you out. Then maybe that's acceptable. But yeah, he's just a puss. if he was like meant if he really wanted to be with you yeah he would do it already secondly you leaving that job if it's just like a relationship out of convenience then if he really likes you and you left the job then he would make time to want to actually be with you
Starting point is 00:42:51 she should also do what's best for her career yeah if the new job is like the best thing to do then she should take it also if he has a serious girlfriend if it is that kind of situation why is he kind of flirting with her because he's probably a shitty guy because he's gross yeah men it's all about their ego so he probably loves that like oh my god we're work wife and work husband because it's like an escape from his real life we don't know what that's like it's gross he's not into you and also do you want to be with a guy that talks shit about the woman he apparently loves and is living with and his girlfriend behind her back that's not a good person if you really love someone and like someone you'll talk shit only 50 of the time
Starting point is 00:43:28 like kelty does on a podcast yeah thousands of listeners and then you'll instantly say but bless his heart i love it so much exactly exactly yep also if he's doing it to his girlfriend now he's gonna do it to you so i'm using ice from our champagne bucket to wipe my hands off oh this is getting really dark in here and why am i the only one really eating the cupcake is what i want to know i just finished mine mine's done if i wasn't reading questions i'd be this would be done okay okay our next question comes from sarah and she says about a year ago i broke up with a guy who i thought was the one i genuinely genuinely thought i couldn't live without him i thought he was my best friend and all of that lovey-dovey crap then i found out
Starting point is 00:44:08 he was cheating and lying about so many different things after dating casually for the last year i feel like i haven't progressed at all in my love life how can i gain that confidence back to stop feeling sorry for myself and let myself fall in love again we have a lot of cheating questions I know, I feel like this is, like, one of the questions from last week. I know. I just... I don't know. That...
Starting point is 00:44:31 What do you think? It takes half as much time as you were with the person to get over the person. You got that from Sex and the City. I don't think that's real. Yeah, I think that's a real thing. I think it's real. I actually really agree with that. Really?
Starting point is 00:44:41 What if you're with somebody for, like, 20 years? If you're me, it takes you the same amount of time you're with the person. Like, you dated for three years, it took you three years to get over it. That's what I said. What if you dumped the other person and it takes you two days? Right. i'm just saying how about if he put his wiener in another girl's vagina it should be pretty instant no no it's hard that's even hard because you're like what being cheated on i mean yeah that doesn't
Starting point is 00:45:01 help jack just hit herself in the face no i i yeah i don't i don't know it's that's that's weird to me but i mean number one the reason that you're feeling sorry for yourself and you can't go over it is because you haven't met your next person yet yeah when you meet your just keep putting yourself out there your next person is going to swoop you off your feet and you're going to be like dickwad who you're not even remember the guy that broke your heart and p.s then you're going to continue to soar and you're going to get hotter in your 30s because you get a little hotter in your 30s you'll be successful you're going to have your eyebrows on lock you're going to have a nice purse and you're going to have a cute instagram feed and then dude who broke up with
Starting point is 00:45:37 you is still going to be like cheating on the waitresses that have over plucked eyebrows and you're going to be like, I won. So also don't worry. You just read us a part of your autobiography. You're going to soar in your thirties. The Instagram feed gave it away. No, but it's true. It's like, it didn't work out for a reason, unfortunately, but something better is coming along and you have to, you have to convince yourself that that is what's going on because you got to just put it out there and then that guy will come into your life. You can't get all down on yourself. And I think that dating is a really good exercise for everybody.
Starting point is 00:46:17 And the more that you're meeting different people, the more you're going to learn what you really want. And probably looking back in retrospect on this guy, you'll see a lot of red flags that you didn't see when you're dating. And you'll like send texts with your friends and be like, look what he's doing now. Ew, I can't believe I ever loved that guy. I mean, that's amazing. All of my exes I'm like disgusted with.
Starting point is 00:46:32 Yeah, totally. Okay. Last question comes from Alex and she says, just listen to your Chelsea Kane episode. and advice regarding marriage with your best friend versus the I can't live without you guy. I've been married for almost a year and married the guy I love for how compatible. That's the word, Jack. Compatible, Jack. Got a hyphen in it. She's confused. I've been married. Okay. I've been married almost a year now and married the guy I love for how compatible we are and how wonderful he is to me. Jesus, sorry. We had some passion before the wedding, but shortly after I
Starting point is 00:47:06 couldn't find it anymore now i'm constantly yearning for that fun exciting drive i had with previous relationships we've never even had good sex i hardly want to kiss him anymore help oh god you're married you're married i know yeah take it away ladies i'll say this there's 50 people like 50 you 50 him and so if he's not like lighting the fire you got to talk to him a communicate and be like i'm just not feeling like do something nice for me here's yeah i'm available next saturday you plan a date the next saturday i'll do it and and then the other 50 percent is like sometimes and i've had to do this ladies and it's hard when you're a bit busy working lady you got to just throw down and be like i am now going to light the fire in our
Starting point is 00:47:50 relationship whether that's like a thigh high sock a trip away a book of sex positions like whatever you're gonna do you have to light it yourself you can't always wait for him because men don't really understand what we really want and i think you can't like sometimes even just in my talking about my own experience my own marriage i assume that my husband is psychic and understands and i'm like it's like that scene in the breakup where she's like i want you to want to wash the dishes and he's like why would i want to wash the dishes and we literally have had that conversation i feel like i think it's to communicate better you know and explain what's missing and you know i think it's incredibly mature to be able to go to your your your spouse and say listen like
Starting point is 00:48:28 this is this is happening and you know i don't want this to i don't want us to you know grow apart and here's what i need um and it's not always easy too i think people feel like you know dave and i've definitely been through things and it's you have to work through it it's not great every single day but you love each other and i think when you do have that friendship as a foundation hopefully that's something you can always fall back on and also are you communicating because good sex is you have to tell him what makes it good for you because he can't again like you said they've never had good sex and also it says well don't marry the guy that has no good sex too late even had sex but also it's like you know he might be as frustrated as she is and there
Starting point is 00:49:07 might be just like a miscommunication problem where they're both too scared to talk about it because people are scared to talk about sex like that's hard for couples sometimes to like really talk about so i think if you just kind of you know get some courage and start the conversation and really explain what you like and like what gets you off in that sense then put on an edible panty and talk about it talk it out i mean show up to the conversation in an edible panty i feel like a nice crotchless tight for my belly right now yeah i know don't listen baby don't listen i mean maybe get drunk and go to a strip club i don't know together you know you know we had all those answers that one podcast it was just like drink a bottle of wine yeah sometimes it just
Starting point is 00:49:51 means like you gotta loosen up and like not think so much into it because i think also once you get into that like oh no the sex is awful like that mindset nothing is permanent but you can kind of screw yourself by thinking that it can never change and i also think that you know with the question how she kind of worded it it's like you're almost manifesting the fact that it happened after you got married so it's like maybe that's not it and maybe you know it's a communication thing and it doesn't have anything to do with you guys getting married yeah and there's something to be said for going back to kind of like acting like you're dating again yeah like no you need to pick me up for a date or whatever you did before you got married and like not fall into
Starting point is 00:50:26 this complacent pattern where you're sort of just like coming home watching tv doing nothing going to bed and it happens it happens to everybody do you know what always cures me what is like looking around at all the single available men out there oh my god and you're like nope or like the people i used to date i'm like yeah and you're like oh my god i have it great get on tinder for a week and just start swiping you don't have to go on dates just like wait till you get like the dick pic in your inbox and you're like i'm good literally like wow my husband's great god he's great uh-huh um you know what else is great lacy lacy's lacy's great lacy thank you for being here you guys go follow lacy i know she's writing
