Starting point is 00:00:00 well what is this welcome to the lady gang that's amazing say that again the lady gang things are about to change around here each week we catch up with hollywood's hottest girl posse kelty knight becca tobin and jack vanek hello hello hello welcome to the lady gang i'm becca tobin here with my twin kelty knight and jack vanek you guys are those of you who can't see this right now you all saw that kelty chopped her hair for the Oscars. She looked like a beautiful fairy princess. And gave me credit on Instagram, which you know, that's the my love language is just if you copy me, you just have to publicly state you copy me. And we showed up on the zoom today. We're both wearing the brand new
Starting point is 00:00:46 merch that Jack Vanek, our wizard of merch designed. We're wearing the red club lady gang sweatshirt. We have our bobs and we have on like our same serial killer glasses. So so nuts. It's it's insane it's an inch um but and honestly even like the both of us hairstyle the bob and like the flip out blood ends yeah i am gonna chop mine you know like an inch again you need to change it up you guys look too much alike i guess i'll go with a pixie cut now um anyways okay well let's jump into it's time for good week yes it is bad week oh no um my good week if you are following me following me on instagram you know i'm going to japan in may i'm very excited about it um and i'm doing what people are calling ja planning because trying to plan for a trip to japan is the most
Starting point is 00:01:45 overwhelming experience in the entire world i went to tokyo like 10 years ago and i don't remember anything other than like, I was obsessed with Golden Guy, their little micro bar district. So I'm just so excited, but so overwhelmed. And Becca has been giving me a little bit of advice. Yeah. And, and one of my really good friends just got back from a two week Japan extravaganza. They went everywhere. So I'm going to, I'll, I'll connect you with her because they had a crazy good trip. It was, I was so jealous. It's the best vacation ever. it truly is I but like you know I have like analysis paralysis about everything so I'm like I don't want to make the wrong choices and there's literally endless choices I know so I don't think
Starting point is 00:02:29 you can make a bad choice because like everything is incredible but even when I was like am I staying in Kyoto or Osaka like going back and forth I thought I was going to have a panic attack but um I'm really excited so I'm really thrilled you're doing this because I'm also going to Japan When? Oh, you can copy it. Yeah. Chris is going to be on tour with one of his clients over there in August. So right now, if the timing works, like I'm not sure if it's going to be too close to lady world or not, but if the timing works and I can get the time off, depends like I have to save up my off days from the, my job. Um, but if I can get enough time off, then I might go for a week. So save your list for me. I will let you know. Um, my bad week is I have officially jumped
Starting point is 00:03:15 off of watching the bachelor. Oh, wow. They lost the last girl. They lost their last viewer. The last viewer is gone. I really tried to hold on. I tried to hold on the past couple of seasons. I was like pushing through, but their format has not changed in the past 25 years since it's been on and then shows like love is blind and love Island and all a 90 day fiance literally has my heart. Cause it's the most unhinged insane show I've ever seen in my life. But like I tried for like two episodes this season and I was like, I, wow, I can't do it. And it's been so bad. They canceled the bachelorette this year. Yeah. Yeah. There's not going to be a bachelorette for the first time ever. So it's, it's rough out there, but they finally lost me. Oh gosh. I mean, it is
Starting point is 00:04:04 shocking that things don't go on forever this is what everyone like i mean it is so it's actually so hard to stay on television so it's like it's great they've had a great run but like yeah well and they're replacing the bachelorette with secret lives of mormon wives just like the new actually i think it might even be the reruns of it like that's from hulu they're moving it on to abc i think they're having it on both but like that show brings in so many viewers that they're like well it will just replace a rerun of secret lives of mormon wives because nobody is watching the bachelor but well i'm bummed i guess that makes sense because it's like if people don't have hulu they weren't watching secret lives but everybody but the people that have like abc
Starting point is 00:04:49 yeah watching everything watch it wow that's i'm so sorry for your loss i know it hurts what are you gonna do what do you feel i guess you're filling it with now other things i'm fine wives and you're reading oh and watching youtube's about severance and re-watching severance and that's how i feel my time good for you thanks for you um okay i'll go next um my bad week is that i we actually kind of talk about it a little bit in this episode later on with cam and lauren um lily collins recently had a baby the actress from um what's the paris america what's the name of her emily paris sorry um and she had it via surrogate and um i had heard about like a lot of hate coming her way and i don't follow her on instagram i think i do now but i had it pop up on
Starting point is 00:05:45 my like discover page and it was a picture of her or a video of her like singing her dad's music to this baby. And it was like the sweetest little video. And, um, their comments on this picture or this video were diabolical. And I cannot believe the amount of a ignorant people who don't understand surrogacy. And if you don't commenting, having, having the audacity to comment on it, um, it was disgusting. And I, I wasn't sure what everyone was talking about. Cause I was like, a lot of people have had babies like with surrogates. And I, I mean, i got a few things here and there when we had ford but yeah this is this is another level because she's so much more famous and so much more relevant so then my that's my bad week my good
Starting point is 00:06:28 week is that i was filled with so much rage that i reported every single no you did not yes i did yes i did wow and you took the high road you didn't even post or like post or comment or respond i almost responded to a few comments but then i was like i don't know at that point i was like I don't want to do that to her. I don't know if that's because then if I go and I comment and if somebody picks up the like, nastiness, like I don't want to add any more negativity, even though I would totally be just sticking up for and I don't know her. I've never met her. But then I just decided I was going to report every single person. I don't know if Meta is going to do any thing with those reports. But I reported all those people for bullying her and I felt really good
Starting point is 00:07:12 about it god people are like who gives a who gives a they're like that poor mother the babies need their mothers you stole that you bought that baby you stole that baby i'm like what yeah because i guess she adopted it yeah but even still i'm like so now we're shunning people who are adopting but yeah no they think that surrogates are that the egg inside of the surrogate that the embryo is like genetically part of the surrogate the woman carrying it so they don't understand how stupid to understand that a surrogate has zero dna shares zero dna with the baby that they're carrying and it's all lily and her husband oh my god so it's just real gross real gross so and yeah there is a still a huge misconception and i will say like being on the entertainment news side of it i do
Starting point is 00:08:05 think there's this feeling of like oh well these hollywood women are having surrogates because they don't want to get fat and they don't want to take time off of their careers yeah like they're too booked and busy so they they're so rich that they're just like outsourcing their pregnancies right there is that feeling and here's my argument who knows what the reason is what i will say and this is my stupid soapbox this is a transaction that both people want equally the surrogate wants to carry and the intended mother wants to have a baby like and it's a it's a transaction that both people are no one is being forced into it right um and also i have to say so what if lily collins is at the top of her career right now and she doesn't want to deal with whatever pregnancy
Starting point is 00:08:54 has to in store which women all over the world can attest to it's terrible for some people if men were the ones carrying babies and you were to ask lebron james hey lebron you if you want a baby you actually have to put your body through that you have to carry the baby and you have to take off all this time from the peak of your basketball career you can do that or you can do this beautiful thing with this other family blah blah blah blah you better believe that no one's expecting lebron james to take off his great season of basketball i know nothing about sports so this whatever. But it's like his moment in his career that he's worked for his entire life. Nobody's asking him to take a season off to carry a baby. And it's just really annoying that we are so hard
Starting point is 00:09:43 on women in this society. It's none of your business why they're doing what they're doing. Nobody's getting hurt in the process. It's so true. I love that. I love when you go on your soapbox too Becca sorry you everyone on Lily Collins comments who gives a I just can't get over it it's like you must be so goddamn bored with your life that you're gonna go and talk shit on a celebrity's Instagram post that has nothing to do with you it's like go hang out with your family or touch grass or whatever they don't have friends no okay um well my good week is that I crushed the Oscars like Becca mentioned um listen I I did not fall I did not lose a diamond I had a great time I was very happy um and I loved my dress it was Paulo Sebastian and
Starting point is 00:10:39 it was this couture designer from Australia that dressed me before but I did not have a does he do wedding gowns yes I think I've tried on some of his gowns before they're really pretty Yeah. Um, but I didn't have a dress to like 48 hours before. Um, and I just felt like I just, my good week is that like, I did the thing. Like I know TV's dying and I know people are watching the clips online more than they're watching ease coverage leading up to the Oscars. But there were, I was on the carpet for like five hours while I was down on the carpet for three hours for this like pre-show brunch. And it was absolute chaos. Derek looked at me after and he's like, I don't know how you did that because it's just like, everyone's moving and they're setting
Starting point is 00:11:26 shit up and lights. And like, it was insane. And I'm reading insane copy off this teleprompter that's 20 feet away because I have to like walk and talk to it. And the pronunciations of everyone's names and the weird category, like it was just, it was actually a challenge for me, which I felt very alive. And I went home. I watched yesterday. I watched like the day after I like recorded it and I watched it back and I was like, Oh my God, it felt so crazy at the moment. And then I like was watching myself and I was like, no, I'm good at this. Like I was really proud of myself because I don't know. It's like, it's not cool to be a TV host anymore. They have like all the influencers doing the interviews. And I was like, yeah, you know what? Any influencer can do like a
Starting point is 00:12:09 little red carpet interview, but come read, read Isabella Rosalini seven times fast on a teleprompter in the middle of the red carpet. Like I worked my ass off and like, I'm good at what I do. And I was really proud of myself. No, no, just that's like the least dickish thing to say. Yeah. Okay. This is your craft. This is what you've been working on for 20 plus years. Like this is, yeah. You're allowed to be proud of yourself. Yeah. Thank you. Um, my bad week is I am being canceled, uh, via the coverage of the Oscars. I'm being canceled online at the moment. It's not super bad, but there's, there's some chatter because, so what happened after that brunch is I went up onto the top of Ripley's believe it or not auditorium, which is so
Starting point is 00:12:55 glamorous. I'm like standing behind a big dinosaur. And I was like, wish we could take this down off the roof and put it in the sand for lady world. Like I really want like a giant creature that we can climb on, but anyway, it's too expensive. But anyway, so I'm up there and, um, and this red, this Oscars red carpet was insane because literally no one came to the last 45 minutes. Like the Oscars carpet is three hours long for a reason. There's so many stars. There's so many people. And the entire first hour of like live from E red carpet, there was no one to talk about you guys. So the, some of the B roll was like interviewers from other shows. Like we, we had a hot nothing there was a point where i was joking that we were going to be like all right now we're
Starting point is 00:13:36 interviewing and from craft services like it was everyone was so late and so the job of me and will marfuji who we were up on like there's ripley's is to like essentially be there as the backup to fill time so if zuri's not doing a million interviews back to back to back they throw at us and we can talk about the categories and we can give you facts and like all this stuff so there was this moment where jim and my ear was like all right we're gonna talk over ethan slater who is ariana grande's boyfriend in wicked and we've got like you know 90 seconds which in tv is like four hours okay um and so we're we're talking about ethan and we're like oh my god this is so great and will turns to me and he goes what is your like you know what's been your
Starting point is 00:14:16 favorite wicked moment and like it's hard to wicked's an amazing movie but like how do you pick a favorite moment so i was like i just think that here's where i'm getting canceled for i just think that watching all of these people's dreams come true like watching ariana and cynthia have this moment and watching this thing that they wanted so like watching their dream come true is even more meaningful than watching the movie and i was like and this is like this is what i'm getting cats for a double down because that not only did ariana get this role anything get this role but then they found love together and like how wonderful is that well people are very upset because you know he was married and there was a baby do you guys know this i guess there was a
Starting point is 00:14:54 baby she was pregnant I guess when she when he left her yeah and like I knew that but in the moment and the happiness of the Oscars I was just like excited for them to be a couple and like I do think they're a cute couple and you know sometimes it might be you know everything works up so are people canceling you on the internet supporting him they're basically like there's an article that went out that was just like uh the biggest like highs and lows of the red carpet and I'm like a low that they're like the normally steady and you know steadfast Kelty Knight really screwed up when she does she not on this planet does she not realize how offensive it was to and then everyone's picking it up it's fine but then like people still love her so it's like they
Starting point is 00:15:40 can love her for what she's done but then hate you for making a comment about it well exactly it's like we're celebrating her isn't like everybody's accepting this whole journey for her she didn't get canceled she didn't get canceled i mean she kind of did they were like they don't walk the carpet together they're never seen in public together and i was like now they are as someone who has had been cheated on and also cheated you you can't you're not leaving a happy relationship who have you cheated on I mean in my 20s I cheated on boyfriends sure well but who didn't I actually have to play devil's advocate here and say that this is this is different I know it's different I think if he was in a happy marriage and had a baby coming and Ariana Grande
Starting point is 00:16:29 looked at him and gave him attention I think that there are a lot of people who the ego lack the integrity to stay in what they're in when somebody like that shines their light on you because I wasn't his wife just like a normal person I think she's like a normie yeah I don't know enough about it it's just like a story that I didn't cover because I think we were just all yeah anyway controversial fine it's fine I would tell you yeah all right you've said worse things Kelsey I was gonna say I'm so relieved that that's what it is I know right you're like okay the podcast can go on no and so I was like okay like this is like you know listen I I love that people are like she's so steadfast and she's normally so good and this is her mess up i was like
Starting point is 00:17:13 i am a bitch like you you're so used to seeing me that now you're gonna pick apart james of red carpets okay yes um anyway okay i'm with lauren and camera here we're so excited and let's get into it now back to the lady gang okay guys get ready because today's episode is giving us true love real talk and all the feels we are beyond excited to welcome one of our favorite couples america's favorite lovers from love is blind from their whirlwind romance and the pods to building a real life together in the real world these two have kept us obsessed with their journey but their story didn't stop at reality tv they've written a book leap of faith they've launched their own podcast that is doing incredibly well the love seat and created their hit youtube series
Starting point is 00:17:59 hanging with the hamiltons they give us a front row seat to their life love and all the fun in between we're talking today marriage business more and we might just get the inside scoop on what it takes to make love last and we really all need that because we're married and some of us been married a long time all right please welcome back to the lady gang lauren speed and for the first time ever her beautiful husband cameron hamilton wow thank you what an intro i know they're so good i know you guys are pros you guys really did it i mean i know the new season is airing right now so we need to get your like hot tea on this but i just want to start with like i just really love you guys and every time we go around you know we're talking about like
Starting point is 00:18:40 who we're having at lady world for the festival and i'll be like and you know lauren and kem from love is blind and then people like gasp at me and they're like i love them does it feel insane to have like so many people invested in your relationship it's honestly like it's an honor I mean, just the fact that people have even been riding with us. I mean, it's been five years now since our season has come out and people are so like even stronger now than when it first came out. Like people do not play about us and we love that. We're so grateful for all the love. You know, you have to remind yourself sometimes when you see it that this really is such a big deal to so many people because it's bigger than Lauren and I even.
Starting point is 00:19:22 I feel like I never intended to be like a figurehead of love and hope. I just met this woman I was like hey I need to lock this down ASAP that was all I was thinking about that whole time so being in that position where people like really look up to that our relationship it's it's a blessing and there's also like this feeling of responsibility like you know I want to I want to give back to people and and make them feel inspired well I was gonna to say you guys ruined love is blind because you're so perfect and you set the standard so high and it has literally crashed and burned since you guys have been on like i thought every season was going to be like yours and we get this like incredible couple out of it and it just hasn't
Starting point is 00:20:06 happened yet but i am like so so obsessed with you guys because that's what the show should be about you know yeah i think for us you know when we did it it was really an experiment like i didn't really know what what i was walking into for real like they didn't really give us all the details now they're what eight seasons in so people have seen it season after season they know what gets the most camera time they know what will get them attention and i feel like unfortunately people just kind of go for that like whatever's gonna make me the villain or whatever's gonna give me more camera time or give me brand deals you know it's hella entertaining though you know some people watch it some people like the drama and some people are looking for
Starting point is 00:20:50 the couples that actually connect and find love so and you can't force people to fall in love either i mean you can cast the best people you can find in the area but there's no guarantee anyone's gonna fall in love i mean it was fated for us to fall in love but in these others and there have been other people who've fallen in love in other seasons as well another part of it too is like people being actually willing to be that vulnerable that you the level that you have to be to connect and i think like lauren said a lot of people are just going for what i think is the easier route which is like hey what can i say that's going to be kind of scandalous or whatever that's easy yeah yeah and i i feel for these couples too because even like in this current
Starting point is 00:21:35 season you can tell the people that go into the pods genuinely looking to fall in love and who genuinely fall in love in the pod but then i'm watching people like david and lauren outside the pod and oh my god it's almost like you have to fall in love two times you have to fall in love in the pod but then you also have to fall in love with the person you're physically touching smelling looking at and if that's not there like i i know david's in like some major hot water because he handled himself poorly but i'm watching him try to talk himself into falling in love with her again and it's just not there and you guys are so lucky because it's like the spark was there and then you guys came out and the spark ignited and it's just so rare to fall madly in love with
Starting point is 00:22:20 how somebody looks and moves and talks and smells like it's just yeah what if the pheromones aren't there yeah what about the pheromones it's true that could definitely be a thing and i was honestly worried i was like well what if i don't like something's like i know that we have this connection and it's really strong and deep but what if something just doesn't connect in the physical like you said becca thank god that it did yeah but even though the show is called love is blind i feel like there still has to be an attraction factor like just in a relationship no matter how hard you try you know you kind of need a little something a little seed to grow from even if it's not like oh they're so sexy you know so right well we're physical beings we're not like
Starting point is 00:23:02 ai that like doesn't have that not yet at least yeah yeah who knows okay don't get me started okay i want to know the fame of it all what is the best thing that it has like how has it impacted your relationship for the best and then how has it impacted your relationship for the worst because you are a couple a tv couple who all the things you do for business you know to pay your mortgage is public um you can't just go like get a regular job at this point and um but at the same time like you work together you live together you create your life together you're famous together like all of those things are it's a lot of pressure so what is the best thing to come out of like being a famous couple and what is the worst thing that you have to deal with I think the best thing
Starting point is 00:23:50 is the adventures that we've been on together we've had some crazy times like when the show first came out we did this New York press week we did like 20 interviews a day or something like that and we went to the Knicks game sat courtside so that was like a really fun experience and we had each other I don't know if if I was just a solo experience it wouldn't been anywhere near that memorable or that special you know but yeah i would say for me the best thing i think through all of this like like you said kelsey the attention the fame i feel so uncomfortable i'm so famous oh my god but you know just like sorry you are i know that's it but i think just for me is having a partner that can kind of lift you up when you need it when you're feeling low
Starting point is 00:24:39 but also like humble you too when you need it you know yeah and i think that that is just good to have in a relationship in general but especially if it's a public thing because egos can get so uh inflated and you can kind of just lose grasp of what's really important in your life and your relationship so if you have a real partner that's a ride or die that's going to tell you like hey you gotta like stop worrying or honey you you were kind of wrong right there you know that is the best because things can get confusing when stuff is so loud in the industry and it's so much noise and a lot going on um the worst thing hmm i would say i would say just doing everything together i mean just like you said
Starting point is 00:25:25 right like lauren i'm sometimes a little happy when my husband goes on a work trip because i'm like oh good i get the house to myself for a second i can just be like sloth mode hair mask in like leave me alone I'm like Kim you don't need to go to the office today like get out the house I mean working together living together like literally being together all the time and I love him I love you love you too but you know sometimes it's good to have a little separation yes yes absolutely I would say for me the worst has been just people start to see you very one-dimensionally you know like people see me as Mr. Sweetheart from Love is Blind which is a is a great place to be don't get me wrong I'm very grateful for that love that um you know but we're all
Starting point is 00:26:15 multi-dimensional beings you want people to see all sides of you but the public you know they they want what they want and they fell in love with us through Love is Blind and that's that's a beautiful position to be in so I don't want to take that for granted it's just you know when you want to show more of yourself you want them to engage with that too yeah what do you wish people knew cam about you like you're not sweet you're just you're actually such an asshole business mark zuckerberg no but like what do you think people get wrong like what do you wish like in you know this next era that you guys are building your empire what do you think what do you wish people saw about you i just want there to be more buy-in on the other things that i'm trying to
Starting point is 00:26:58 present and I guess look if they're not interested they're not interested but for example I went to MIT recently and I saw all the robots that they're working on I created like a documentary about it and I thought it was really cool very passionate about it to show like this is a state of art for robotics but I didn't really have a big buy-in from the audience on that unfortunately yeah they're like yeah what do you think about love is blind well but that's but the other thing i would just say about that is that is every celebrity um you know doing what i do at e-news like i mean becca we've been on multiple press tours now written multiple books uh achieved huge successes here with lady gang anywhere we go the first
Starting point is 00:27:47 question we get is does the glee cast still talk on a text chain like it does not matter where she goes she's kitty wild from glee forever and you know we see a lot of celebrities like um you know jason momoa has a show right now on roku about his motorcycle company and like you know jason momoa didn't go to roku first to be like i want to make a show for roku he took it to netflix he took it to hulu those people all said no that's how a show ends up on roku we all know it so it's like and and he's jason momoa and like the thing that he's really passionate about like nobody buys in but he's like but the beautiful thing about having the celebrity and having the power and success you guys have is that you can go off and do those things like
Starting point is 00:28:26 love is blind is a once in a lifetime thing it's gonna follow you forever but like keep doing the other stuff i think becca do you have any advice on that because like you're you're that yeah i would say keep filling your cup the way you want to fill your cup and it doesn't matter what other people think about it i mean when we started this podcast people were like are you crazy this is this is like what losers who can't get acting jobs do. And at the time I wasn't a loser. I'm a loser now, but it's, but I continued, like I kept following the path that was filling my cup and I was finding enjoyment out of, and sometimes people catch on. Like I promise you, if you keep doing the things you're interested in, there is an audience that's also sharing that interest
Starting point is 00:29:07 level with you and you will open up to a whole new kind of demographic. But yeah, in the meantime, it's it's i've been through such a journey with it where i sometimes resent that glee shadow that constantly follows me but then i have so much gratitude for it because i wouldn't be able to do what i've been doing but yeah i mean it's a it's a double-edged sword but you seem to be really tackling it well i appreciate you saying that really that that means a lot to hear that yeah you're just so cute you guys are just so cute a little more people would focus on the robots cam we can't stop looking at you you need to put some drama i know so you guys are the love seat has
Starting point is 00:29:52 blown up congratulations on the podcast you're doing it you're doing it so well um what was the idea behind it and also your uh matt and amber just came on and they like broke news can you talk about that how like you they save that for you and all that of course uh the love seat is a place where we talk about everything from relationships sex mental health it's kind of like a wellness show a place where you can just come relax and improve yourself right we all want to live better lives um so for our first episode we brought in matt and amber who were also on season one of love is blind with us and they dropped a few different bombs um they haven't in a lot of press since the show came out uh back in you know 2020 and amber got a lot of hate a lot
Starting point is 00:30:41 of hate um for her and barnett's relationship we call him mac by his first name now but yeah for her and barnett's relationship and i was like you know what amber you need to just come on our podcast and set the record straight girl you said that they edited you crazy girl tell your side of the story and she did okay she dropped mike dropped everything and she also shared that they were expecting which she should be like due very soon now yeah this month so it was awesome i mean i'm so happy that she got a chance to tell her side of the story and it did kind of shift the audience because people were like oh my god i never knew that we love amber so even just being able to do that and having that platform giving her a chance and uh barnett as well to just share
Starting point is 00:31:25 their story and they're our friends in real life so it's just it was beautiful that they chose our platform to do that yeah that's cool jack do you think people hate like do you think people got amber wrong i mean they definitely did her dirty they did both of them very dirty like they made the audience was there another girl that he was going to choose i can't remember it was like a blonde girl right yeah yeah and it was lc2 at one point he had five girls interested in him i don't know what he was saying in pods and it's so funny because the show made barnett out to be this like yeah i'm i'm barnett i'm so cool and hunky but he's like such a dork yeah yeah like he's our friend but you know it's just
Starting point is 00:32:14 like he's like i'm i'm not even like a ladies man like that like i just really thought they were all cool you know but the way that it was edited it was like he was mr suave yeah yeah so well i love that they're still together because they the show the way that they edited it it's like they're not even gonna last into the reunion so it's nice to see that they're like together and expecting yeah i always thought they were cute i could tell that they're so equally yoked they like fit together so well yeah i love it i love it we guys have been very open about your own fertility journal journey. And that is something on lady gang. I mean, we have multiple face groups about this. We've had, um, our beautiful Becca had
Starting point is 00:32:58 quite the journey and now has her beautiful son and, um, is the light at the end of the tunnel. And, um, you know, where are you guys at? And like, do I even hate asking? Cause I know that's like the question you're not supposed to ask, but we just love you and we want that for you. and you know but do you feel extra pressure because now you've been public about it and everyone knows and so every time everyone sees you is like how's it going actually you know what it is such a relief now that we came out publicly about it because before it was like people were like when you're gonna have a baby and now people are like man we understand like are you okay like what do you you know where are you like you said what are you going through right now how are you
Starting point is 00:33:39 feeling so for me it's such a relief because it feels just like a freedom like this burden has been lifted off my shoulders and i can freely talk about my experience my emotions and how i'm feeling um so i'm grateful that we did it um we are in the middle of a cycle currently so hopefully we'll have some good news over the next few months continue to pray for us yeah um but this cycle in particular was really difficult because my father also passed uh i'm so sorry christmas day yeah so was like right as the cycle was going on so you know I'm just praying that even though God took my dad maybe he'll bless us with a baby you know yeah that happens often yeah it really does it's almost like I don't know I believe that those souls are there to like usher in the new ones
Starting point is 00:34:31 absolutely there's a little bit of magic it's bittersweet but I know it's a grind I've been through it. The only thing, my unsolicited advice is like in, in the moment of going through all that with my husband, I, everybody was saying, it's really hard on a marriage. It's really hard. Be gentle with yourselves, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. But I think we were both in such survival mode that we weren't even really fully aware of how much of a toll it was taking on the marriage. But I'll say that afterward and in hindsight, I'm like, holy shit, we could get through that we can get through anything now it really is such a testament to the partnership and i'm like wow i i kind of didn't give myself enough compassion in that moment and in either
Starting point is 00:35:18 of us of us in that moment um to just be like this is hard we're gonna get through it and it's gonna be beautiful eventually absolutely man you hit the nail right on the head that's so true yeah well you know it's like that's and also that's like great for you guys too not that i would wish this on anybody but the perspective that you guys now have and the relatability of it all you know like i follow someone on instagram who's gotten pregnant three times so easily and she's been all over instagram saying that it's a state of mind and that's how she's gotten pregnant And it's like, you know, you're alienating so many people. And it's a gift to be able to experience it from this side of things, even though it's really hard. oh my gosh absolutely yeah you know you you appreciate it so much more this going through
Starting point is 00:36:12 this IVF process and Becca I'd love to hear more about your IVF journey as well but going through it it's you just appreciate every milestone along the way and I know when we finally do become parents I mean I'm going to cherish that every single day because of what we've gone through Yeah. And it also, you know, thinking about like testimonies, I know that we're at a place where we're almost ready to start sharing more about that because there's so much that people need to know about fertility, IVF, so many misconceptions, you know, one that really bothers me is this notion of just like, well, stop worrying about it'll happen when you're not thinking about it. it's like, no, that's bullshit. Sometimes you have to be proactive. Sometimes you have to take the reins and make this stuff happen, you know? Also, how can you not think about it? I know. It's so ridiculous. No, it's easier said than done. And I don't think it can be done. And I will say having our son and having gone through four years of struggle, like I know for
Starting point is 00:37:23 a fact, I don't think this is the case for every parent. I can't speak for everybody, but I know for a fact that I'm a much more patient parent because of how hard it was to get him here and I don't take any of that for granted not to say people who have babies naturally do take it for granted but I am reminded and I needed the reminder I think as a mother to have worked really hard to get him here to be like those little hiccups that happen you know when they've wet their crib or they're not potty when you're catching the warm throat in your hands hot vomit in my hand in a restaurant, which I just did. I'm like, this is all part of it. Like, it's so beautiful. It's so messy, but you know, like, and I'm so glad that eventually later you're going to
Starting point is 00:38:04 be sharing more about it because there is so much, like, I'll never forget when I started taking the estrogen pills that you have to go on at whatever point in the cycle. I can't even remember. I mean, estrogen made me a full-blown psychopath. I moved out of our house for a night. i was like i was like i'm we're done we're getting a divorce it's over and my friend thank god is married to an ob-gyn and he was like listen this is hormones like i know it's really frustrating to hear this but like this estrogen i'm like it's the devil's pill it's the devil's pill like the thing i turned into was like a dragon lady is that the same thing that they give you when you're doing your eggs no so this was before this was before the the transfer so
Starting point is 00:38:52 the i didn't feel like the shots i mean listen nothing is a walk in the park i felt like the shots prepping for the retrieval it was okay like i felt emotionally and mentally like myself it was before the transfer where they're building up the lining of your cervix or your uterus sorry and they're giving you pumping you with estrogen and it's just and progesterone oh and the progesterone i mean that's also the devil's drug i'm like it's beautiful it creates this beautiful little baby but holy shit it's like i'll be fine one moment and then just be like yeah i'm right yes the devil and i promise you you will never look at him like that once you have a baby like the way i looked at my husband i was like you are the enemy you are the enemy right now
Starting point is 00:39:38 i'm getting a lot of those looks these days they go away i promise but also like i love you know in in a weird way i think it's great if you guys open up about this because we we do talk about this quite a bit on lady gang when we have a female guest but the man's perspective is like non-existent like there's no if there was like an ivf husband support group i feel like everyone would be in it with you cam because i do feel like we support our girlfriends or you know someone that's been through it or there's books and there's all these like we understand i don't know if that makes does that make sense yeah absolutely well and i would say about that it's like i know i'm not the only man who wants to be a dad out here right and for the other men going through
Starting point is 00:40:24 ivf they must also want to be dads as well but yet we're not really hearing a lot from these would be dads about wanting to be a dad and going through the IVF process. I know when us when we've been going through it. I mean, I'm a research type of guy anyways, but I delve very, very deep into the research, you know, how can we improve egg quality? How can we improve sperm quality? How can we, you know, maximize all these different parameters, because, you know, we want to give ourselves the best chance possible. And it's something that I really do want to speak on, i've just been kind of waiting till we're just a little bit further along in the journey i mean i'm happy to talk about it now but in terms of like making content and all that sort of thing
Starting point is 00:41:08 i was just like prior to coming out and actually talking about ivf i was the woman that was like on tiktok like looking at other people's stories and all that i was like lauren you just need to talk about this because so many women like want to feel like a community like they're not alone in this. And so if me using my platform to talk about it, my experience makes women feel more seen and not alone, then yes, like I need to talk about it more. It's amazing. It's not an easy thing to do. Cam, would you have any advice for men who are going through this process? I know it's such a helpless feeling. You're just sort of like there as a support system, but you have as much skin in the game because you want this as badly. Like what would you say to guys? Oh man,
Starting point is 00:41:52 gosh well there's there's practical advice in terms of like what you can do to make your sperm better right and then there's advice about you know supporting your wife your partner i mean i think you know there's all this pressure put on women to have the best quality eggs but you know semen sperm quality is super super important so the number of days abstinence is a huge factor should be like one to four days that's what i've read in the research i thought you know the longer you wait the more you'll have better odds now they start breaking down over time so you got to keep them pretty fresh so to speak oh no that's my worst nightmare yeah that's your little explicit i'm sorry but that's real insert the chat yeah well i love it i love it so much
Starting point is 00:42:46 and then don't talk about this like the sperm is 50 of this equation exactly my my parents tried to have another kid and it was my dad's sperm that was the reason why they couldn't do it so it happens probably more often than you think and you know cutting out like smoking reducing um alcohol was a huge cutting the smoking drink deli meats artificial sweeteners i cut all that stuff out um you know there's a lot of supplements and stuff too i mean just men's multivitamins and coq10 um there's it's a big list but all that stuff adds up you know what i mean and i saw drastic numbers change like in my uh semen analysis yeah the first time i did it i had zero normally shaped sperm and i freaked out yeah and i was like what the hell like
Starting point is 00:43:38 but i've been abstinent for 10 days again because i thought the longer i wait there'll be but no it's the opposite so i changed all these things and then i had a really really good numbers after that basically damn such an easy change too where women are like forever she's like so what you're telling me she just doesn't want to have sex with her i just want to like dig into the patriarchy here just a tiny bit so what you're telling me is that in order for men to have great sperm they have to just have sex all the time and in order for women to have great eggs they have to pump themselves full of chemicals that's what i was saying turn into demons bloat up like they're the chocolate they're grape in willy wonka and then have some things inserted
Starting point is 00:44:29 into their body and extracted and all men need to do is have more sex. Here's what I'll say. Obviously it's not that. I'm just joking, but yeah. That wouldn't be the way. It makes sense for this, for our life. Well, and stop
Starting point is 00:44:45 smoking and drinking too and the artificial sweeteners and all that too. It's important. Just three things. But I do know that most men wish so badly that they could just take over this whole physical part of this. You know, like my husband is just much stronger than I am.
Starting point is 00:45:02 I'm like a delicate flower. I'm like, if you were the one making the babies inside your body, we'd have 10. Like, it's just so, and I know he would do it, you know? Yeah. I know. And that is a frustrating part. Like, you know, you want to, there's only so much you can do. And, you know, when they're having all the, when your wife's having these symptoms, you
Starting point is 00:45:20 want to take away the pain, but what can you do besides like, hey, can I eat up the rice bag for you? Make you a cup of tea? you know that that sort of thing you can do that but and you can sit there and talk to them but you know you can't take away the pain you can't inject yourself you know right just bring plenty of ice cream and sweets I don't know yeah and you can take the night shifts once that baby's here yes definitely boom oh yeah all right Lauren and Cam when we come back we're going to play a quick super fast special round I didn't name it
Starting point is 00:45:55 you're listening to the lady gang okay we're back with lauren and cam all right we are going to play a little game of finish the sentence so i want you to say the first thing that comes to your mind after we it's all relationship stuff are you ready we never go to bed without why'd you look at me i was gonna say eating because yeah true what uh yeah i don't know she goes to bed uh pretty early that's true yeah i mean you know we're doing fertility stuff so sex is kind of weird you know yeah you can't be having intimacy in certain ways the doctor is like yeah not not for food food is our sex i love it okay i was like no no ma'am no ma'am the best part about being married is having a partner yep that's true the secret to happy
Starting point is 00:47:00 marriage is secret being best friends yeah that's that's good i i mean that's good that's good i mean there's more to it than that right yeah i mean you gotta be a friend you gotta be a lover you gotta be a confidant you know business partner sometimes all the things all the things yeah you gotta be like a swiss army knife that's good our guilty pleasure as a couple is it's okay if you say re-watching ourselves on love is blind no no actually i hate watching myself on love is blind like yeah oh i hate watching it back i don't even know what it is i just like oh i cringe um but our gutsy pleasure is watching tv while eating i'm very food based right now because you know how most people like yeah let's sit at the table and have dinner like
Starting point is 00:47:55 me and cam have our tv tv trays and we're like what are we gonna watch we're sure are we gonna binge we've been getting into cartoons yeah like we were watching adventure time but i had never like seen it yeah and i was like this show is good yeah like we're children at heart so it's it's good adventure time wait can i tell you something last night i was also eating dinner on the couch watching tv and i really thought about my grandpa and i was like do you remember when grandpa would like bring out a tv tray and he'd have them like just hidden in the closet and they had like a nice embossed top like a floral design with like the brass do they make those anymore like they should let's bring those back let's bring them we need a tv tray to come back
Starting point is 00:48:40 yeah because we just have your big target variety yeah no we need like a fancy vintage okay um if you could relive one day together it would be we took this nice vacation once to chateau elan and in uh georgia it's like a venue there yes we had a lot of fun i would say our wedding day okay yeah that's a good one too yeah that was a special day it's like yeah that was good we got married it was very surreal like out of body yeah you know all of our family was there and like cam said it was surreal and just actually saying yes i would have and my harpist and everything i would have wanted it to extend longer because after they got the film that they needed they're like all right rap we're out of here let's get the hell out of here getting married on tv is
Starting point is 00:49:35 a different type of experience yeah i mean even having a normal wedding i have a question about the wedding so i think you both probably leading up to the wedding knew or the day of you knew it was happening i don't know if there was any question for either one of you if there was going to be a no up there do you was there i mean it was yes it was definitely a yes but i was very nervous and to me like cam was super sure about everything for me i was just like damn this is a real commitment like we're on tv we really had to sign a marriage license that day so it was very like serious so i was just very nervous like i knew i wanted to marry him i just didn't know if i wanted to do it this way yeah even up to that day i was kind of
Starting point is 00:50:23 just like ah you know right was there to say that she was ready to get married but then on the day of the wedding when we're up at the altar and you see her take that pause um i was like oh shit here we go um yes i was gonna say is there any was there a part of you that ever felt like you're being like love bombed because that's like i feel like what so much of the show is it's just like you're living in this fantasy like obsessive cocaine phase that and people are like it's like i've known you for seven years it's like no you're just like obsessed with each other because you don't know each other that well like did you ever like worry about that i think that's what was so scary to me is that things were going so good and cam was so in love and i had so many shitty
Starting point is 00:51:17 relationships that it just felt so foreign like to have a man that really wanted me this bad didn't have any questions about it i was like i don't trust this situation like what is this guy does he just is he an actor like you know but thank god i got over that and i decided to follow the light and i'm glad that i did but i was like oh this is a lot this is kind of scary because i felt like what do you love bombing me or is this genuine you know i didn't even really know that term back then but i yeah yeah i can see i can see where you're coming from and yeah it is it's like i mean you have this whole puppy love and you know there's this huge build-up they they try to sequester you so that you're even more pent up in a way you know what I mean like we saw each other
Starting point is 00:52:02 at the reveal and then immediately after they separated us and put us in these hotel rooms for a couple of days couldn't see brother yeah so you're like building up the anticipation and then they let us sit together on the flight to Mexico which was great and we you know we're like trying to make up for lost time and then as soon as we get to Mexico they like sequester us again in different rooms and so actually this is kind of funny but I was waiting in the room all day I'm like when are they gonna let me see her I was getting kind of pissed off so I'm like I'm gonna go find her room he did yeah and so I I leave my hotel room and I'm like I'm trying to do the math on like how many doors down she might be because I had somehow like seen a clue of it earlier and
Starting point is 00:52:50 so i get to her door and i knock and then the producer comes out of lauren's room she's like hey cam and i was like no let me talk to him we're grown adults and y'all are like separating us they didn't want us together until we were filming so that they could catch all the reactions and everything yeah yeah oh god i feel so bad on those trips like i love those episodes but i just feel for everyone so much. Cause it's like the camera adds so much pressure and then everybody's insecure and everybody's feeling it out. It's just so awkward. Like when Lauren told Dave, she had just gotten a bikini wax and she couldn't have sex. I'm like, every woman knows you can have sex like 10 minutes after bikini wax. But I'm like, oh, this poor girl's like protecting herself from
Starting point is 00:53:42 having to like put out with a stranger and the moment it's just so awkward it's just so awkward i really feel for everybody going through that well i don't feel for us because we get to have you both in florida september 26th for the lady world festival people are so excited we're gonna hang on the beach you're gonna be live headlining on the big stage um so much more and we're so excited about that so thank you guys for saying yes because we are thrilled that you're coming and everyone you can check out their podcast the love seat if you want more of the hamiltons and their youtube channel sounds like they have some good stuff coming up and collectively let's just send all of our prayers and good baby juice energy towards this beautiful couple as they go through
