Starting point is 00:00:29 That's amazing. Say that again. The Lady Gang. Things are about to change around here. Each week, we catch up with Hollywood's hottest girl posse, Kelty Knight, Becca Tobin, and Jack Vanek. Hello, hello, hello. Welcome to The Lady Gang. I'm Becca Tobin here with Jack Vanek and Kelty Knight. Hello. Hi.
Starting point is 00:00:48 Good day to you. Good day. You guys had to wake up early this morning because we had an 8 a.m. L.A. time meeting. And you know what I had to do? I had to really plan out my coffee and my morning poops for that. Like I was like, okay, I need to wake up an hour and a half before then. I got to plan everything together. It was the whole thing.
Starting point is 00:01:07 But I'm like, we're going. I'm starting to be a morning person. I yesterday worked out in the morning, which I never do. I usually work at 4 p.m. And then at 4 p.m. I took a nap because I was like, the day is over. I don't have to work out. I have no responsibilities till it's time to cook dinner. And I was like, damn, this is a lap of luxury.
Starting point is 00:01:24 welcome welcome good for you i love getting my stuff done in the morning it's so exciting i'm me too i'm more useful in the morning like i think i oh out and by noon i'm burned yes no that's how i am especially when i was like very heavy into my jack vanek stuff it's like i'd wake up at six in the morning and then go so hard and then it just teeters it goes down and down and down by 2 p.m i'm like useless yeah useless totally me totally but i will say i started taking licorice root at like one o'clock i know it's like a pill but uh my like herbalist guy said that it's really good for low energy and as women our cortisol kind of drops at like noon and that's why we get those like energy sacks 2 p.m slump the slumps and it's pretty helpful
Starting point is 00:02:11 i'm not a doctor but pick some up you're like dr oz dr oz is he no dr oz he's a real doctor but he just like shills all this bullshit yeah but this is like your tmj dr jack he just he's just seizing the moment he's just chilling your jaw way overcharging for botox i was shocked but you know desperate times call for desperate measures yeah well all right well it's time for good week yes it is bad week oh No, I'll go first. Um, my good week, we talked about Venmo, uh, a couple episodes back, how Jack was saying that you can see everybody's business on Venmo. I got really curious one day and I was on there and it said, I had a notification on my Venmo. I was like, well,
Starting point is 00:03:05 that's weird. What, what, what does that even mean? Why do I need a notification on Venmo? do I owe someone money? Yeah. I open up my account and I have a request, Venmo notification request. Hold on. It's pulling up. And it's someone asks me, someone named Billy requests $10. And in the memo, it says reparations for watching Glee. oh my god amazing wait what yeah isn't that incredible so i guess he like went through every because also i will say that my venmo is not easy to find it's not my like real name is it kitty wild are you kidding me oh my god kelty it is it's so strange i don't know how he found me and um I almost sent the money because I thought it was so funny you should
Starting point is 00:04:01 just send the money I think that that to go through all those measures of finding you and then sending that incredible message he deserves it yeah it's I but then it would confirm that it's me and I don't know if I really need him knowing that that's my Venmo or I could be like it's not Kevin McHale I wish anyways that was my that was my good week because I thought it was so funny my bad week is uh my friend hayley also moved to the same neighborhood as i did in austin and she had some like pest control guy come and just take a look around her house and talk to her about the things she needed to do and blah blah blah and she calls me and our other friend jamie and she goes you guys you don't even know where we just moved and what kind of creatures
Starting point is 00:04:46 are around the parts of our of this neighborhood i don't know like what are you talking about she goes scorpions are everywhere they can climb through your ducts and fall through your air conditioning that's what happened to jared once yep on his on his bed it just went oh my god so there's that so you have to do some special insulating in your vents screens yeah yeah and then in your plumbing there's something with your plumbing and the snake situation oh no no no no You have to put a special netting around your back fences to keep the snakes out of your yard. So I said, I said this to Zach and he goes, I think that this guy was being extreme. And I think he wanted to charge her a million dollars to like snake proof her yard and scorpion proof
Starting point is 00:05:41 her shit. But I need someone to tell me anybody who lives in Austin, is this a thing? Do I need to worry. Orly is living her best life in the backyard. Is she going to get eaten by like a python? The scorpion thing's weird to me because don't scorpions normally live in the desert? Texas is desert. Texas has some...
Starting point is 00:06:02 But aren't you in like a marshy kind of like an area with a lake and shit? No. I mean, there's like a small lake behind me, but it's not... Yeah, it's... I don't know. Things I don't know about Austin yet. So let me know.
Starting point is 00:06:17 It's terrifying. Remember when I made you eat a scorpion? Yeah, it's gross. It's really gross. Well, I'm just saying this is what you get for moving away from us. Bye. It's true. I'm going to go. My good week is obviously we've been in the market to try to find a house, but the housing market is absolutely impossible. So Jared and I are like, okay, well, I think that we'll probably end up staying in our apartment for like a little bit longer. so we've decided to finally upgrade our bed because we've been sleeping in a queen bed for the past three years since we've been together we just put a king bed in the helix mattress that's our sponsor on the podcast oh my god what was i doing in a queen bed it is the biggest
Starting point is 00:07:06 game changer in the entire world i don't have to be near him at all i can put up a separating pillow in between us so when he faces me he doesn't breathe on me like i don't understand any couples who if you don't have if you don't have the space for it why would you not have a king it's i i don't i do not understand unless you like love being on top of each other which i that i don't understand that whatsoever but the helix is nice i have one too it's super nice i want to tell you something when i was dancing or on cruise ships we only had twin beds and as a couple we used to sleep together in a twin bed and this is what confuses me so much about my 20s is that so i had a roommate kelsey and she had a boyfriend on the ship and then my guy craig
Starting point is 00:08:01 was roommates with her boyfriend so they took over his room and craig moved into our room so we like switch so we could have couples rooms you know a romantic it was so mantic and um we had bunk beds right in a in a perfect world i would have just been like are we having sex right now good night and i'd go up to my bunk but we didn't we slept the bunk was empty above and we both slept in a twin bed like squished because you're in love yeah yeah thank god he's only like four feet love. I did that on a boat with Zach. Like we were on a boat and we chose to sleep. Cause it was either, it was two twin beds. And I think about it now. I'm like, we never, we had just started dating. We would never choose to sleep. No, no. The only time I've ever done that is on a tour bus
Starting point is 00:08:50 when they were absolutely out of bunks and Jared and I had to share a bunk, which is even smaller than a twin bed and you're smushed. And then it's a coffin. It's a coffin. It's, it's absolutely horrible. Okay. Okay. So my bad week was going to be something else, but you just sparked a memory of mine. So speaking of cruise ships, I just watched this documentary called the last cruise it's on HBO. And it's about that princess cruise ship that got infected with COVID in the very beginning in Japan. It is the most terrifying thing I've ever watched in my entire life because they didn't know anything about COVID. It was spreading throughout the entire cruise
Starting point is 00:09:29 while people were isolated in their rooms. It was so scary. It literally just like triggers every little anxiety that you had in the beginning of last year when you didn't know what was going on. Like do not recommend, but also recommend because it was fascinating. How many people died on that ship?
Starting point is 00:09:47 Like 14, but the cruise ship was like 3000 people and like over a thousand people got COVID. well that's the thing when you work on a cruise ship the number there's two of the scariest things that happen number one is fire like if the ship lights on fire you're going down like that's what they tell you we have to like literally take fire training they're like the ship will not sink a big wave like you know sometimes you're on a ship and you're like oh my god the big waves are coming like it's not the bottom of the ship is cement it's not gonna flop over even though that one on costa cruz did but anyway um but fire like it lights on fire there's nowhere to go it's very
Starting point is 00:10:22 fast but anyway the other thing they tell you when you work on the cruise ship it's the number one thing is stds are like rampant like it everything spreads so quickly because everyone anyway i don't i mean we're never getting a cruise and also respiratory diseases yeah that's also in nursing homes the stds are rampant whoa yeah are they good they're like crazy wow yeah no really yeah there my sister does health care uh law so what the beginning of her career she was doing a lot of just like reading through files for all these nursing homes because they handled i don't know like regulatory law at something way above my iq level and she said a lot of the reports were just like reporting on all the stds going around each of the nursing homes so hot i mean at that point
Starting point is 00:11:12 you're like get i'm not gonna use a condom i'm gonna die in a few years anyways yeah you're like Like I can deal with some chlamydia. Yeah. All right. Wow. That's very interesting. Wow. Wow.
Starting point is 00:11:23 Okay. Bad week. My feet are growing. Oh my God. That happens. Wait, Kelsey. It's so weird. Now we can share shoes.
Starting point is 00:11:32 No, I'm not quite at eight five yet, but I was a six my whole life. You guys, a shoe model six. And then I had to go up to a 6.5 for comfort. and now i'm wearing my 6.5 and my sevens and i'm getting ingrown toenails and sad feet at the end of the day i need to go up to a 7.5 we're almost we're almost there kelty you know a little bit more are they just making the shoes smaller no i think you know this is interesting because a lot of women say after you have kids your shoes don't fit in the same like your your feet don't fit in the same size shoe maybe i don't know if it's the kids maybe it's just you get to a certain age and
Starting point is 00:12:14 you're it's like bladders it's like you get to a certain age it doesn't matter if you've carried i mean i know the babies don't do like wonders for your bladder and maybe it speeds it up but like age just makes you your feet grow and also makes your bladder suck well it might be one of those things like you know your nose and your ears never stop growing as you get older they just continue to grow so maybe the science just needs to figure out this new one that your feet just keep on growing and growing anyway they're huge sorry boats excuse me i take offense to that as somebody with bigger feet than you but you're very tall jack they're huge but your feet are way too small for your height anyway they are no my feet have always been small i've prided myself
Starting point is 00:12:53 off my tiny toes good week your feet are growing to match your body no my good week is so good you're finally perfect my good week is the best good week i have ever had in the history of lady gang are you ready received this dm oh god from heather i named my daughter after you she was born august 5th 2020 the lady gang podcast has gotten me through some really long tiring days thanks for being so awesome and i said oh my god and she sent me a video and the baby is like looking at herself in the mirror and i said baby filthy loves her reflection and she goes she sure does thanks my husband and i watch entertainment tonight and that's where we saw you and we said to ourselves if we have a daughter we're totally naming her kelty kelty hunter i'm not going to
Starting point is 00:13:44 say the last name she was 5 pounds 14 ounces and now i'm following the mom's account because i'm just going to watch baby kelty grow oh wow baby kelty's beautiful baby kelty's so i can't believe you got an you know i actually think somebody named their daughter jack before i just don't remember baby congratulations kelty cute i mean heather i think rebecca is a much more classic name um but if you want to do something fun and flirty kelty's great too it's fun and flirty i just i've known that the lady at the bank in my hometown named their daughter kelty because my mom told me but i've never had proof and now i'm so invested in baby kelty i'm gonna watch baby Kelty grow it's like it's my baby um love baby Kelty Heather this really made my day and oh I
Starting point is 00:14:33 forgot the most important part so then I started stalking baby Kelty and I was like looking through Heather's profile and she kept using the peanut emoji and she was like look at this cute little and then peanut you know guys what is earth that's my nickname and my family peanut my dad only calls me peanut he's called me peanut my whole life where's peanut where's the peanut oh that's cute she was calling baby kelty peanut without even knowing that peanut is baby kelty's name weird that's adorable i feel like you guys aren't excited for me i mean we are it's it's just how excited could we really be though yeah i mean when we come back let's talk about baby kelty as i've talked about for a long time on the podcast i'm a side slash stomach face sleeper
Starting point is 00:15:21 and i've been trying to break that habit and you know that i sold all my furniture with my house so we've moved into a brand new house we have no beds at all and that's why i'm so excited that helix sleep is our sponsor helix sleep has a quiz basically online that you take for two minutes it matches your body type and your sleep preferences to the perfect mattress for you why would you buy a mattress that's built for someone else like that doesn't even make sense so i took the quiz and i like a firm mattress so does mr knight and so i got matched with the helix twilight it's firm it has pressure point relief and it has side sleeper support which I really need they have soft medium firm mattresses mattress is great for cooling you down if you sleep hot

Starting point is 00:18:49 Now back to the Lady Gang. Our guest today is breaking records here at Lady Gang as the only O-N-L-Y guest that we have ever invited back for a third time. time. It's a crossover you and we cannot get enough of. And we've been talking about her behind her back lately. She teased us all week with a crazy product launch and finally unveiled her new project to which Becca Tobin texted our group chat. She's a genius. And she is a girl's girl, a mama, an entrepreneur, and someone who continues to pave the way for all of us. She's the host of the skinny confidential podcast with over 100 million downloads. She's got a brand new book that i already pre-ordered get the out of the sun and also the genius behind the hot mess
Starting point is 00:19:37 roller and ice queen serum which we're going to talk about i hope some of her brains fall on us during this chat please welcome back to the podcast the creator of the skinny confidential lauren bostick yeah welcome back you guys have to come back on our podcast so you guys can be three on ours you'll be the only one that's come back three yes i love us never invite anybody back for a third time i will other than us three three is a great number lauren the roller is so genius and i was so invested in the it was so funny because we knew we had planned on having you on to talk about it and i was like does anyone know what lauren's making this this this posting we were like having this investigative and then alex was like yeah i got the deck like i know what it
Starting point is 00:20:23 And we were like, oh, anyway, how did this come to be? Alex, Alex got the deck. Who's Alex? Alex is our producer. And she got like the deck about what you were coming on to talk about, but she didn't share it with us. So we have no idea. We were literally going back and forth for probably a half an hour trying to be like,
Starting point is 00:20:39 I think it's some sort of lymphatic drainage thing. I think it's this really going through all the clues on your Instagram, like really trying to back the code. It could have been a dildo. It could have been lymphatic drainage. It could have been a candle. You never know what it was. but you guys know all three of you. I feel like how it is to be puffy when you have to be in front
Starting point is 00:20:57 of the camera. There's nothing worse. I think that I actually had messaged you before we did lady gang TV. And I asked you that specific question. I'm like, how do I make sure that my face isn't puffy? We're filming this thing. I've never filmed anything before. And I came to you asking you that specific question. Cause I knew you were the queen of it. I run Puffy and I just think it's so wild that there's all these skincare and makeup that you put on your face, but there's nothing to manipulate the fluid in the face. And my facialist said it best. I text Becca her information in Austin. She said, there is so many actresses that I watch on screen and actors. And she said, I want to look at them and be like, oh, I could have fixed that
Starting point is 00:21:41 because no one is fixing the lymph. And I know that that word is such a, like, like it's like a gross word. It sounds like limp penis. Yes. Yeah. It sounds like limp penis or cooter. It's just like a, not a good word. Um, but it, we do need to talk about it because people are running puffy and they're paying all this money for skincare, but who cares if you're puffy? Yeah. So I thought this was so interesting though. And something that I, even as your fan, maybe didn't know because I've been in baby land with you about this surgery this jaw surgery and you went in and then you've been posting all these like real as fuck photos on Instagram and I was like oh my god so take me back to like how that happened and explain it all I my whole life had
Starting point is 00:22:25 a crooked jaw it clicked I had TMJ I snored like a wilder beast like and I mean like Michael was up all night. It was horrible. And the only thing that they said could fix it was double jaw surgery. So finally I was like, I'm going to do it. This isn't a big deal. I was three years into blogging. I'm like, it'll be fine. And the doctor told me I'd be swollen for a month and I was swollen for three years. And when I say swollen, I had an identity crisis. I would look in the mirror and I was so insecure. I couldn't even talk to someone without being like 20 feet away. I still have post-traumatic stress. Like even if someone gets too close, like I want to go like this, push them away. And I was just so puffy and swollen and truly I tried everything. You guys
Starting point is 00:23:11 know, I tried everything. I mean, if you would have told me to put shit on my face, I would have done. I tried everything. And the only thing that worked was activating the lymph system with ice. And I just couldn't believe that there was nothing on the market. This is years ago. And I Googled jaw surgery ice and this shitty roller came up and, and no, this is before like people were using them for beauty. So I ordered it, but it would hold cold for only two minutes. And, and also even when you put a bag of peas on your face after you get filler or something, it doesn't hold cold and I'm a very intense person like when I do something it's it's like and it's annoyingly intense and so when it comes to things like beauty I like intense and to for
Starting point is 00:24:00 it to only hold cold for two minutes one was wasting my time and I don't like wasting anyone's time and two um it it just wouldn't stay that that intense cold that I wanted so this took four years and you guys know, like when you're planning something like a book or product, people don't know how much goes into it and back and forth. What was that process like? Was it just so laborious and testing out a million different things for one to work? Yes. It's building any kind of product. I think I wish someone would document the behind the scenes. It's so much back and forth. It's finding the right person to design a rendering. It's making sure the colors are right, the packaging. You want the person who's receiving it to feel really special. You
Starting point is 00:24:47 have to get the right copy written on the box and the packaging. And then you have to do the Instagram and the website and the marketing and the distribution and the shipping. I mean, I could go on and on and on. You guys know. And so it was a lot. And I'm also someone who I didn't just want to slap the skinny confidential label onto something. I wanted to make it something that was like oh this makes sense that she's doing it and it definitely took me a long time my husband says that it actually gets in my way how I like how I want it to be just right um but here we are and it does tighten the out of your face so that's all we want so what makes I can't wait what makes yours like keep it's cold rather than because I know I mean I have one of those
Starting point is 00:25:32 like kind of rollers that I bought on Amazon and you're right like it doesn't it stays cold for like two seconds and that's it. So when it just gets wet. Yeah. And then it's, it's just like slimy. Getting all this junk on your face. It's, it feels gross. So yeah. What makes yours like cold? It's cold for so long. We used a special aluminum material. Um, it's actually a pink aluminum of course. And it's very, very heavy. So when you feel the roller, it's like a pound and a half. I mean, you could do weights with it. It's heavy. Um, but that's what we needed. Oh, is it? I'm going to send you guys all one. So you guys will all get one. Is it like a Yeti for a face roller? How a Yeti keeps drinks cold forever.
Starting point is 00:26:14 You always have the best analogies. It's like a Yeti hydro flask for your face. Yes. And then the manipulation is like when you really hold it down, cause I put a thumbprint in there so you could really apply pressure. So you're getting all that fluid out while you're getting all the inflammation, um, ice benefits. And ice is like, if there's one thing I would tell everyone to do to fight depression and anxiety, it's get in a freezing cold shower, get in a freezing cold bath, do cryotherapy. Ice is the cure for inflammation. Wow. I know. I hate this about you actually, because I see you post about these cold showers all the time. You can do it. You're so like, like type A I feel like.
Starting point is 00:26:58 You can't do it. I should be able to do it. I don't want to do it, but I'll ice roll. I'll ice roll. Um, I, I wondered how your life has changed the last time. I remember specifically, cause I've stolen this from you that you were on lady gang. We were talking about data blocking in your calendar and you're like, here's my four hours to do this, my bit. And then you're at the foot massage and you're doing your emails. Like I've stolen that from you. Um, but since we talked to you you became a mom and I think that it's often easy for people to be like how much how do you get so much done Kelsey and I'm like like I don't have a kid you know what I mean and so how has life as being like the skinny confidential businesswoman you are changed since now you gotta take care of
Starting point is 00:27:42 a human it's a lot of work taking care of a baby it's actually more work than I anticipated and I have a lot of respect for stay-at-home moms and right now we're at the stage where anything she wants. It's like, imagine that all day. It's like really not great for my cortisol. Like, please. It's a lot of work. It's, it's definitely rewarding, but it is a lot of work. I, I have always been someone that's like, I want a lot of help. I wanted a night nurse. I wanted a nanny. I definitely, you know, just want the team of help around me. But the crazy thing is that i didn't anticipate is i feel so much mom guilt and i don't have a ton of mom friends especially with covid she's not around a lot of babies even if it wasn't covid like i'm not
Starting point is 00:28:32 mommy group type of person not that there's anything wrong with that it's just not my personality so the mom guilt has been so surprising that's so interesting that's so crazy to me like that you're like you have all the help because that's what I would do too like I would get all the people and I'd be like I'm gonna be fine I'm still gonna do career but it's then you're like wait I can't because my the the pharaohs are like get me near my child get me near my child it's not even get me near my child it's that when you're away from them you feel bad and no one really talks about it a lot I feel that with my dog so I can only imagine it's so gnarly. A human for real. Like it's, I think people who are, do you feel like that Kelty
Starting point is 00:29:17 with Callie? If you leave her? No, I'm just psychotic. I can't even imagine the guilt with a human. Yeah. And you guys, you know, are all three entrepreneurs and you're going to see if you decide to have kids, like you, it's never enough and there's no such thing as balance. And this is the craziest thing too, is when you're around the baby or kid and you have to work, then you feel guilty for not being a hundred percent present. And so it's like, it's a really, really tough thing. I have to, I'm having a real, real problem with it. I'm really struggling. And if anyone has any tips, like welcome, please. But you feel guilty when you're away. And then when you're there and you're on your phone, you feel guilty because then you're not present.
Starting point is 00:30:08 And then if you're a hundred percent present, you feel guilty that you're not working on your business. Yeah. And you're the type of person you are like very type A type of, you're in it a hundred percent, no matter what you're doing. So that has to be hard because it's like, you can't be a hundred percent in anything now. Kind of.
Starting point is 00:30:27 I'm, I'm, I have been known to multitask. That's not effective. I could work on that too. Well, and the next thing I wanted to talk to you about that I actually really loved, um, there's, there's been two people this year that I've watched have, have the babies, I guess. Um, I'm not saying this correctly, but you know, one of the things that I loved Nikki Bella and you were probably the most outspoken real about losing the baby weight. I put that in quotes because there's this expectation of, you know, six weeks after baby and blah, blah, blah. But the two of you on Instagram and you in particular, what was it like sharing that? And, and, you know, was it harder than you expected? Because that's kind of the vibe I got on Instagram. You're like,
Starting point is 00:31:12 wait, I kind of expected that I'd be able to skinny confidential this back with whatever my tricks and tips are. And then it was hard. It is so hard. I had the, I, I still have 10 pounds to lose. It is so hard to lose the weight. And like I said, I still, it's been a year and a half and I still have 10 pounds to lose. And here's the thing about it that's horrible is that you can lose the weight and I'll lose the 10 pounds. But then if I want to do it again, and then if I want to do it again, let's say it's daunting. So it's, you're, you just feel, you just feel like you're on a hamster wheel. It's also horrible. It was for me, postpartum when you have anxiety and depression from, from giving birth and you can't talk to your significant other because they don't
Starting point is 00:32:08 understand. They're like, what's wrong? You just had a baby get over it. And I gained 55 pounds. So it wasn't like I was like kind of bloated. I mean, I couldn't fit into any of my clothes. It was a real mind. And I would say it was definitely another identity crisis. And I was surprised that more people haven't talked about that. And I don't know if it's just because I'm an overshare, but the weight gain was like, was gnarly. It still is gnarly. Well, let me ask you this, Lauren, because you said it's an identity crisis. Did you feel like it was outward forces making you feel like you needed to be something? Or was it your internal demons that were making you feel that way? it's both I mean it's both I mean for me it's more I'm just hard on myself I'm hard I mean I feel like you guys can all three relate to this I'm very hard on myself and I have high expectation and um maybe too hard on myself like I would never talk to someone the way I talk to myself sometimes so definitely uh me but also I think that that there's this element that you do have to bounce right back. And even with what Becca's going through, I know everything that you're
Starting point is 00:33:29 going through. There's a, I've heard, I have not gone through it. A lot of bloating, you gain weight. That's also a mind because there's a whole other element there. You're trying to focus on, on making a baby, but then there's also the other things that come with it. And you almost feel like, oh, I can't talk about this because it's vain. Yeah. I had a lot of people write, write to me and be like, stop talking about this. This is like, we get it. You like, you feel like this, but the reason I'm talking about it is because I never, I can't point to someone who I've really heard talk about it. So I didn't have anyone to look to. I think I had such a great pregnancy and a really nice birth. And I thought, oh, like I'm through the finish line. And what no one tells you
Starting point is 00:34:15 is the postpartum is so gnarly. I mean, the anxiety, the depression, the not looking like yourself, you have this new thing. Like I'm not a baby person. So I had no idea what I'm in for. And here's the thing. I had help. So I can't imagine. And Michael's also very helpful. I can't imagine being a single mother or not having the help. It's just like these conversations need to take place more often. And I do wish people would open up more about everything, whether it's the fact that they're trying to get pregnant, like Becca's opening up with that journey. That's so incredible. Or just the weight gain and the mind after pregnancy. Yeah, I love this. And thank you so much for sharing this all. And I love to know that you were like designing a product while you
Starting point is 00:35:08 were going through that so props to you on that and then on top of that the book the cover of this book is so brilliant i love it i love it yes bitch i know i mean it's so great and so this is something that people go to you for and how did you get the idea and what's it all about and everyone go pre-order right now thank you um you guys are in it all three of you big feature I have to call you guys out and say something. It's not a calling you out, but I have to tell you that I interviewed a hundred influencers, celebrities, doctors, whatever. And you guys were so professional and your answers were so meaty and so specific. And it's so interesting to see the backend of how people work because you take someone like Kristen Cavallari and the way
Starting point is 00:36:01 she sent her answers in was just like, so well done. Like everything was done. It was all filled out. It was perfect. And then you take someone else and like, they, they tell you that their secret to skincare is to drink water. No. And it's one sentence. And it's just interesting to see, you can see why some people are so successful. Do you know what I mean? So I have to call you guys out on that. The book is just basically as an influencer, I don't even like that word. I'm going to say digital creator. I just feel like there's so many creators that are just what I'm eating, what I'm wearing, what nail polish color I have, whatever. I feel like that gets old after a while. You have to elevate other people. And you guys are doing that with your network. Michael
Starting point is 00:36:52 tries to do that with dear media. Like Oprah did that. You bring up other people. You can't just rely on yourself to, to, to be the expert at all times. And I am not an expert. I'm a practitioner of skincare. And so what I did is I went to the people that I'm interested in that I knew the audience would love. And I really picked their brain unsponsored about what products they're using, what's on their vanity. And so it's like a resource. I love that. And how'd you come up the title yeah the title the title was just very like very the title was yeah it was like you know get the out of the sun one of my favorite stop like the magda something about mary the silver things you gotta stop one of my favorite things that you've ever done is i when you were skiing
Starting point is 00:37:37 i don't know if this was last year time doesn't exist anymore but the pink full on face mask ski cover that you wear when you ski is so incredible and so you you guys got to get one no hyperpigmentation it's it just it looks like one of those like condom you know like those full uh like gold man outfits that zips up your entire face it looks like you were wearing one of those but in pink it looks like kim kardashian's halloween costume in red yes yeah it actually It does. But look at the skin. I know our skin's insane. What was like the, the thing that someone turned in or whatever piece of advice that just blew your fucking mind. And since you, and since then you've been doing it and it's game changer. Like, is there anything? Onion tea, onion tea,
Starting point is 00:38:25 people boil onions and put it in water. It is so good for you. It's very popular in Japan. So onion tea, I I'll eat anything or do anything like when it comes to beauty. So that's maybe a really intense one. And then also tree hugging, hugging a tree is really good for you. It's grounding. It has lots of, um, ions in it. And then probably some stuff to do with snails for the skin. Snails are really big and in some parts of the world, Korea, I love a snail. Did you get immediate acne moving from LA to Texas? Cause no, did you? Oh my God. It's like teenage acne i need your book right now oh my god wait why why why the because the weather changed yeah or maybe it was from canada from vancouver like cold to now humid austin your skin will

Starting point is 00:42:39 writing questions about life and love and all that shit. And then we're going to fix their lives. You ready? I'm ready. And of course I remember this. I listened to you guys all the time. Okay. With what time? I love you. I dropped my chopstick. Okay. Our first question comes from Noel. Noel says, I was just wondering about dating older guys. And if everyone really goes by age is just a number I'm 24 and the guy I have a crush on is 40, but I'm afraid to make a move. What do you suggest? As far as being afraid to date anyone, I think you should do whatever the fuck you want. Who cares what other people think? I wouldn't give that any kind of energy. And as far as you making a move, I'm very much a fan of acting like a poodle. I'm not a fan of
Starting point is 00:43:30 desperate energy. And like, sometimes that's a long-term strategy. Like it might take longer, but I would rather be pursued, um, when it comes to my significant other. And this isn't a male female thing. This is just like, I'd rather preference. Yeah. Poodle energy 2021. I love it. Um, as somebody who has dated older men in the same, probably age bracket as her, I mean, I, age is just a number to an extent, but sometimes like when I was in my mid twenties, I dated a guy that was in his forties. And Kelty also tried to set me up with one of her friends that was in his forties during that time. And sometimes you're generationally different and you don't understand the same memes. You don't understand the same jokes. And then sometimes maybe he has
Starting point is 00:44:20 sciatica and like has issues having sex and you're like 24 years old. You're like, God damn it. So I think it depends. I think it's hard. Like we all have different ages of our souls. I know 24 year olds whose souls are, you may as well be 45. So, you know, and I also know some 45 or like mid forties people that act so young, it's like, everybody's just completely different in their maturity phases. I feel like, and the bright side is if you're 24 and he's in his mid forties, he will die. You won't have to have sex that often in a little while. That's true. He'll also die like 20 years before you. And then, Oh my God. Okay. Next question. Next question comes from dreams before babies dot dot dot for now she says since my last since my long-term relationship has
Starting point is 00:45:07 ended i'm struggling with how to not worry about my expiration date i'm ready to sleep around not commit and experience life alone in my late 20s but i also know that i have a ticking clock to when i can experience childbirth naturally at what point is it a financially smart decision to freeze your eggs while you are still saving for your professional future i mean let me just tell you something, ladies, there's something out there called AMH tests and FSH blood tests. And you can know every single year you can go to your gynecologist and get these tests done because it doesn't matter what your birth certificate says. It is whatever those numbers are is how old your reproductive situation is. Well, and also, yeah, not really. There are women
Starting point is 00:45:53 in their twenties that are having trouble conceiving and then there are women in their late thirties that can have birth naturally. So that is like such a good thing. Everybody's so different. Yeah. Becca, that is such good advice. What you just said, go, go get tested so you can know where you're at. This is such a situational question. Yeah. You have to, you have to look at per situation. I would go get tested if you're, if you're thinking about that right now. Um, or if you, if you are financially set, I mean, freezing your eggs, I don't see a lot of downfalls to it, but I've never been through it. So I don't want to give advice there. I will say it's a pretty like relatively easy process. This freezing of the eggs injected it
Starting point is 00:46:33 too. So don't be afraid of the process. If you have the means to do it, it is really like not that big of a chunk of your life. And it's also like not as invasive, I think as people say. No. Yeah. Can you tell us what the process is like? Cause I have no idea. I would love to know like how it's not invasive. You don't feel it's invasive. What do you do? You give yourself shots. I mean, you're basically stimulating your follicles and you're, you know, basically growing these follicles so that you develop as many eggs as possible in one cycle. So you're giving yourself shots, you know, once or twice a day for two weeks average. And then you go in for a 15 minute procedure.
Starting point is 00:47:07 You are under anesthesia, but they go in, they don't make any incisions. They go through, you know, vaginally, and then they remove all of the eggs from the follicles. I think. How do you feel after? Are you fine? Bloated? Afterwards, I will say that is the day leading, two days leading up to your retrieval, you're just bloated. Like you feel like it's maybe just the worst bloat you've had for your period, sometimes worse. And then after the retrieval, I will say that's where my friends didn't take off enough time.
Starting point is 00:47:35 like you need to have a couple of days where you're going to be like really bloated and you don't want to have to go anywhere and you want to be able to lay in bed. So, but really in the grand scheme of things in your life for peace of mind to have frozen eggs is really amazing. Yeah. And it's 10 days of shots. It's like 10, it's around 10 to like 14 days on average. And it can vary, but mine was like 13 days. But I go ahead. Oh, I was going to say the most shocking thing to me about the whole experience was I do terrible on birth control. Like I turned into a raging psychopath and I was like, Oh my God, these hormones, Jared and I are going to break up. Like this is going to be it because I'm going to turn into a crazy person. And I have like, no, no mood
Starting point is 00:48:19 swings, nothing. Yeah. How many days of birth control is it? 10. It's not. Well, the injections are like 10 to 12 days, depending on if your follicles are ready or not, but okay. So the whole process takes like what a month two weeks two weeks okay so it's it's yeah it's very way quicker than you thought yeah also like there's a lot of girls if you're in your late 20s this is just like a stupid psa but i feel like very inclined to say this there are some doctors out there who are going to tell you they're going to look at you and say oh my god you're 28 don't worry about it think about it when you're 30 don't listen to those doctors you are allowed to ask for that blood test. And I know plenty of 28 year olds who did the blood test and guess what? They're in
Starting point is 00:49:01 like the danger zone of needing fertility treatments. So don't listen to a doctor and maybe consider leaving one who tells you not to bother. Boom. Boom. That is such good advice, Becca. Honestly, we need to talk about this on our podcast. That is such good advice. Part two, LA skinny confidential. Okay. Our last question comes from stuck on the next steps. She says, I lost a job I loved because of COVID. I worked for a local magazine and was so happy to be finally putting my journalism degree to good use. It's been so hard to find a job that I've now pivoted to looking at sales roles, which are easier to come by. What do you think I should do? Decline a job with a steady income or wait for a job that I'm truly passionate about, passionate about in
Starting point is 00:49:43 journalism? I have a very against the grain opinion on this. I think people tell you all the time, go work a ton of jobs and then figure out, you'll see what you like and you can pick and choose. I think that this worked for me, so it doesn't apply to anyone. I would say go work in a service industry job. Go be a waitress or a bartender. Take all your extra time, energy, and put it towards a side hustle that you actually want to be doing. So if you love writing, if you love taking pictures, blogging, creating, math, whatever it is, I would say go to the service industry, make your money. You learn how to finesse people. You learn every single kind of energy. You learn how to multitask. You learn how to sell because you're selling. If you're a
Starting point is 00:50:33 bartender, you really can get to know someone. You can learn how to talk to people. And then I would say take all your extra time because you're going to have more time than a nine to five and put that energy, time, and money that you're making and put it towards something you actually want to build. So in four years, instead of having worked for all these different people, you actually are working for yourself while learning in the service industry job, if that makes sense. That's actually such good advice. Because that is, I mean, with a service industry job, you can leave the job at the job. Like it's, if you're taking another job with a company or whatever it is, sadly with our work days, it's like, it never ends. Like you're answering emails
Starting point is 00:51:16 until whenever. So that's such a great way to set up boundaries with your professional life and be able to just think of that as what it is and gain all those skills. Cause you're totally right that you'll end up gaining all of these people skills that you might be. I learned more bartending than I learned in college by far. I learned human nature. Yeah. Devil's advocate. I'm going to be the Becca here for a second. I think the only caveat I have to this advice is that I would make sure just because she's talking about journalism, I would just make sure that that dream job still exists. The world is changing so quickly. I can't tell you the amount of people that DM me and say, oh my God, I want to be an entertainment reporter. What do I do? And they're in college
Starting point is 00:52:03 and they're they're getting their journalism degrees. And the truth is, is like because of the Internet and streaming and the way like that job doesn't really exist in the way that you think it is like Ryan Seacrest is just lefty because his job doesn't exist that way anymore. Like so if you want to get into journalism and you want to be a writer, like just make sure that whatever that dream job is, you have a goal or it actually still is there to get because there are no magazine jobs and the ones like it's a very hard place to live now if you're not going to be like a lauren and start your own entire thing in your own world like it's a that job might not exist so you might be like oh maybe i'm gonna go work at goop and i'm gonna write
Starting point is 00:52:48 and research and be a writer but i'm not it's not like a magazine gig you know i think lauren that is so smart you're you're so you you you and Becca both did that you guys flipped you disrupted your own industry very smart thank you no and I think what your advice Lauren I think is is so smart for anybody that's starting their own thing specifically like that is that's so genius because you're not going to like expel your energy somewhere else but yeah I think it's definitely situational. I do think though that like what you guys have done with Lady Gang is like Becca was an actress and Kelty was doing hosting and you guys came in and you still are doing those things but you also came in and said okay I'm also going to start a podcast
Starting point is 00:53:38 and it does disrupt the industry. You do have to evolve with what's happening right now And so I think you guys, this advice is really smart on that. We love that.
