Starting point is 00:00:00 Hi, I'm Barbara aka your nursing educator on Instagram. I'm a registered nurse and I create content to help nursing students feel ready to take on anything and everything that comes with the job and trust me it's a lot. Here's one of my favorite and simplest pro tips. Upgrade your scrubs to figs. Figs are designed for us. They are super soft, lightweight, and breathable with four-way stretch to keep up with your every move. Polished professional silhouettes? Check. Functional details and pockets in all the right places, check and check. No matter what your day has in store, Figs has layers to match. Their underscrubs are perfect on their own or as a lightweight base layer to help keep you cool and dry.
Starting point is 00:00:40 And when the temperature drops, their outerwear styles are made for everything from chilly commutes to freezing hospital hallways. If you're in healthcare or love someone who is, check out Figs. Head to wearfigs.com and use code FIGSCA for 15% off your first order. That's wearfigs.com, code FIGSCA. Jack Vanek. Hi guys. What are you drinking out of that giant? I am like having an iced tea moment in my life. Yeah. I can tell by the gallon of iced tea sitting next to you. I didn't drink that all today. Do you think it's good to be drinking all this iced tea? What's wrong with it? It's just brewed tea. It's literally unsweetened. There's no sugar. There's no anything in it. But is there
Starting point is 00:01:47 caffeine? There's caffeine. Yeah. Can you sleep when you're exhausted? I can sleep. Like I could sleep right now like you guys could take over the podcast for 20 minutes and i'll like take a nap and then i'll wake up at the end to be like to f**k up the ending i'm like we're not here for a long time we're here for a good time do you refrigerate this after you open it yeah does it say you need to yeah really yeah what is it that makes that suspect do you think this has preservatives no it's just tea it's saying it doesn't i think if you if it has preservatives you don't have to refrigerate it's a good sign that you have to refrigerate it well i also make my own iced tea too at home this is just my work iced tea that's just very delicious man
Starting point is 00:02:21 it smells good but i can't that doesn't seem like it would be natural is it what's a peach flavor anyways anyway this is so boring i know we're so are you guys ready for your quote sure i forgot about the quote wait why is there a ping pong ball on this table oh she shot it out of her vagina yes no callie um there's like just random ping pong balls around this whole office because not my office but the et office because like there's games people play and there's like a golf kit and stuff, whatever. And so one day she found this and she's been playing with it.
Starting point is 00:02:52 There was two, but she ate one and then started like biting it, but she loves to chew on it. But I'll throw it. You tell me if you can hear it, Elena. I like to throw it for her and she likes to go get it. Can you hear it?
Starting point is 00:03:05 And then she'll, now can you hear it when she's- She's not going to swallow that? No, she won't swallow. She just like plays with it. She might swallow that. Yeah. Gotta be honest.
Starting point is 00:03:13 No, she's not a snake. She can't like disjoint her jaw. It'll get stuck. And then she'll like bite it anyways. she's had a minute okay this is another conversation another riveting moment on the lady gang tuning into um the lady gang this one's kind of long okay are you ready okay it's a little bit of like a short story quote okay i'm starting to hate him i said to my mom can you hear that i mean i can hear a play is it so annoying yeah let's not do this okay
Starting point is 00:03:43 let's not do this that's why i was on well there's your answer that's why i was on the table. Okay, here we go. Here's your quote. I'm starting to hate him, I said to my mom. Hate is good, she said. At least you're starting to see him for what he is and not for what you think he is. At least you're starting to know what you deserve and not the little crumbs that he's been giving you for far too long. At least when you look at him, you're not looking at him with his rose-colored spectacles anymore. Instead, you're seeing him eye to eye, wide eye, and black and white panoramic view. Honey, these are the few times when hate is good, but don't stay too long hating him because that means he's still got a hold on you indifference indifference is better
Starting point is 00:04:22 i love that it's good because i went through this phase after my breakup last year and i don't know what it was because i was never like this before that relationship but i was going on all these first dates with guys and for some reason in my mind i was like holding them on this pedestal and after every first date i'm like this is the he's like the best guy i've ever met like it was looking at it with rose colored glasses and not really seeing somebody as a human and then the more time i would spend with whatever person it was it would start to like kind of chip away at that i'm like oh they're just a normal person and they're not so great and i don't know what it was in my mind but yeah holding somebody on a pedestal for no reason whatsoever is but i love hating people
Starting point is 00:05:09 sorry i hate hating people you do yeah i don't really the energy it like takes it's addicting i actually had a moment where there was like this person i was struggling with really really hard for probably a year which is insane and i had a moment recently where i felt nothing and it was the most freeing feeling indifference is like it's the the greatest but it it's easier to said than done yeah that's for sure well especially with guys yeah speaking of indifference i know you guys are both indifferent to me and today is my episode it's all about kelsey the lady gang kelsey wouldn't even let either of us read these questions
Starting point is 00:05:53 i hate the first question yeah let's just not something you say all the time that's like the easiest one for you is it what do you say all the time i don't know i know how i start every sentence how can we oh okay what do you think elena let's ask elena let's go to the elena what does she say a lot i feel like she kind of says i don't know a lot i don't know not like you that you don't know but like when you try to answer are you trying to give your opinion on something no like oh i don't know okay all right fine we want i don't like that first question it's fine boring it's easier with like a significant other yeah yeah i guess so you're actually paying attention to what they're saying okay what makes me happy diet coke makes you very
Starting point is 00:06:40 happy fame paparazzi photos of yourself in a weekly magazine instagram like so happy instagram followers but genuinely happy oh oh callie don't take down the curtain um you're right i've never been genuinely happy perfect um i sleeping in when you stopped having to wake up at what three in the morning it was yeah i feel like that was like a turning point in your life it was life and you finally like really appreciate it asleep in yeah for sure waking up when the sun is already up is like forget it yeah it's amazing it's a great thing yeah i don't i don't really know what it's like to not she's like i go to sleep when the sun is anyway what makes me sad when people don't follow the rules is going to be the most obvious choice yeah or um not being
Starting point is 00:07:43 appreciated for hard work that you've done oh that makes you sad yeah not being noticed or acknowledged right and then i think also when your directness is misinterpreted as meanness yep that makes me so sad yeah you're so right yep when you're misunderstood i'm always misunderstood you are you are why is that i've been trying honestly i think it's because you're in your own head a lot like i've been trying so hard but then i told you guys someone did the same thing to me and i was like wow that feels awful and i was like oh shit but i've been trying so hard but then i'm still making people feel like i hate them i think the problem is is you're thinking about too many things at once and it's not like you're mean it's just you're not paying attention
Starting point is 00:08:30 and your aloofness just comes out across as like mean not meanness but just like disinterest i think with people i have a question do you think my emails have improved i've been i obviously don't read them so yeah okay yeah i've been really trying to like when we reply to someone about the business and stuff to be like hey thanks for all your hard work this looks great yeah but yeah you've gotten better with that like just trying to make it instead of it because you before i used to not even put hi i just used to be like we really need to change the data and i always am just like overly friendly in emails and like almost not that not unprofessional but just really friendly like it's like you're like chatting to like a friend and i feel like
Starting point is 00:09:12 that's a way to come across almost as like not being a bitch yeah okay how old am i 36 36 oh my god you're so wrong are you 37 i'm 21 you're 30s i'm 30s yeah exactly i'm 30s you are 36 though right i think so i actually what year were you born 82 and your birthday's when then you're no i'm 36 you're 36 oh i'm 36 but i did for the better part of the year like the beginning of this year told people i was 37 i thought that you were 37 for a while i'm not i did too and i think that's because you said it and i was like oh i didn't know she did she didn't say that how tall am i five six five five you're both wrong five five and three quarters hence standing a little bit on my tippy toes during the rockette audition so that i could pass because before you audition
Starting point is 00:10:02 to be a rockette they measure you like you can't even walk in to start dancing until they've measured you how tall do you have to be five six oh and i was five five and three quarters that's why i was the end girl i booked uh the the rockettes as a dancer one of the dancer singers and that's like the saddest job in the world i didn't end up doing it because i got a different job but it was like what job could have been better than that uh the trans-siberian orchestra i think or something radio city that's cool way better like way better wow yeah but it was i forgot about the dancer singer thing it's a bummer it's a bummer because it's like even shorter than you are because what's the dance what's the like so there's like the rockets that
Starting point is 00:10:43 are all five six and above and five to five eleven and then there's like a couple people that are like singer dancers and they just kind of fill in and do the like ensemble stuff when And the Rockettes are, like, changing their costumes, essentially. Oh, you're just filler. And they're, like, in really ugly, basic costumes. But the truth is, is that a lot of those dancers are, like, even better dancers than the Rockettes. But they're just too short to be Rockettes. It's, like, kind of a bummer.
Starting point is 00:11:04 Oh, that sucks. That wouldn't be me. That's good. Just kidding. I wasn't better. Okay. What is my favorite thing to do? Take a bath.
Starting point is 00:11:12 And drink tea. Before you go to bed. Drink tea, read, bathtub. Is this not your favorite thing to do? Walk around carpet. Oh, my God. How did you forget? Call the paparazzi on yourself.
Starting point is 00:11:21 To be honest, though, I'm kind of over walking on my carpet. I knew you would get there. I know. I am. I knew it. Because I'm over it and I haven't even walked on it before. There's been a lot of times, especially this spring when we've been so busy, that people have been like, do you want to come to this event? And like, whatever.
Starting point is 00:11:34 And like, I would never miss an event back in the day. Even to the point where I was like, Elena, should I go to this? And Elena was like, well, if you have the chance to walk a carpet looking cute, you probably should. But then I didn't go. Like, I just like kind of, I'm over it. I don't care. and honestly even the thrill of like oh i gotta go and then be in the magazine it's over too i have too many magazines i mean that i've been in i hate you but you've like i was about to give you
Starting point is 00:11:56 a compliment and then i just don't even want to anymore i was gonna say but like working the met gala carpet looking like you did this year you didn't feel like this is my moment you crushed the carpet at the gala yeah i think because i was still on so many painkillers and like it's still so up and like that next morning flew to london and was like i just the megal was so crazy because i really didn't want to take my pictures with my ugly sling thing so i like took it off for a minute and took off the whole like i had no cast on and i walked the carpet like sans cast with my little arm hanging by and then as soon as i went back in i like put the cast back on so yeah no i did look at the pictures though and i was like wow i'm like as gorgeous as i would
Starting point is 00:12:40 dream to be on like my best day like i was my best kelty like that's as good as it's gonna get that's my like i get to win my oscar moment like i don't look like that in real life like i don't look like that on a daily basis at the other 5 000 carpets i've done but like for some reason like that one just came together it was like the right hair the right makeup the right dress like it just looked amazing the right like i was like really fit because i just like been not doing anything for a week um okay next question that's how one becomes oh i forgot to tell you my other favorite thing to do that you might not know is i love to like clean and organize closets oh yeah i didn't know that okay not surprising what do i do when i'm not at the lady gang
Starting point is 00:13:17 you're on an airplane on an airplane or you're doing you're working your other job that is a 24 hour a day job basically yep it actually it blows okay because we had such a crazy weekend with like lady hang stuff when we were in new york i was so freaking pooped and then you just went off and worked your regular job right after we finished doing all of our other shit i'm like how the hell does this woman not drop dead like it is pretty crazy we were so exhausted we did all those podcasts and i was like okay now i gotta go to work i literally could not function after we finished those podcasts i was like i'm sitting in bed until like two days from now yeah And it is impressive, like, seeing it firsthand.
Starting point is 00:14:01 Stamina. I don't understand. Well, I'm really lucky because someone does my hair and makeup. Like, if I had to get myself ready, I wouldn't be able to do it. Yeah. It's like when you can sit in the chair and just, like, close your eyes for an hour before you have to do the work and someone just makes you, like, look presentable. Yeah. It's a winner.
Starting point is 00:14:16 Okay. Oh, if I became famous, what will I become famous for? I could see you writing a book one day. I was just going to say that. She already wrote a book. Yeah. Another book. No, I could see...
Starting point is 00:14:30 I've actually written two books, but thank you. I could see you one day writing a book, I think. Yeah. No, I definitely am going to write a celebrity tell-all. You should. About other celebrities? Yes. And I'm going to do it the way Kathy Griffin did it, which is, like, she named names.
Starting point is 00:14:45 Like, when I'm out of this business and I'm, like, goat farm... You could probably do it in the business, to be honest. You'll do it when it's just lady gang. Yeah. You don't have to, like, worry about your actual job. Because people have asses. Yeah, exactly. i'm gonna like you can call everybody out i'm gonna call everyone out on their bad wait creepy
Starting point is 00:15:02 weirdo entitled also the glow-up behavior of like people who used to be really nice and then got famous and now treat people like shit oh that's good like you know the people who were like so desperate for fame and they were like trying to be my best friend because they thought i could get them on tv and then they got that fame and they're like who are you like girl anyway oh no you know it's a girl anyway um okay it's a girl obviously it's a girl what makes you proud of me is it weirder that i'm asking yes this is why we wanted to have it no it's okay that's fine it's your what makes us proud of kelty i mean besides everything with this podcast yeah right yeah um what makes me proud of kelty i'm proud of kelty that i think sometimes you receive the most
Starting point is 00:15:47 flack is that what it is like we can be kind of critical of you and you are like open to hearing it you're not uber sensitive about it you can take it and like you actually like try to be better whereas like i can't hear that kind of stuff like you can't even bother telling me because then i just can't handle it yeah like i would reject it too much really you don't think that's like a dancer thing like growing up in that discipline like always taking notes i mean i could handle that with like dancing but like just everything else like i just think you're like it's not your talent it's just you but this is like more personal too because it's like something that we're like you're ourselves yeah like you you want to grow and you want to like change and
Starting point is 00:16:30 improve whereas like i'm so stuck in my ways i'm like an 80 year old woman and you can't tell me to change even though i should i'm proud of the fact that you and i know this is just like a personality trait of yours but like you just take on all of the work and you don't do it in a way where you're like doing all of this and then resenting other people at least like publicly yeah it's true it's like especially like in the beginning when we're kind of figuring out our roles within the lady gang you just you're like i'm doing this i'm booking these people i'm making the rundowns and like this is just what i'm doing and and you don't care because that's just like part of who you are and i think that is it well when you're you're not a martyr you don't want
Starting point is 00:17:12 other people to do the work yeah you're not a martyr i know a martyr a martyr somebody that's like okay i'm gonna do this for us yeah look how hard i'm working oh i guess i'll do this yeah and making everybody else feel bad around you and like wants to be kind of like praised yeah right right what a sacrifice exactly i don't think that you ever feel like you need to be praised for all the work that you're doing you just you're it's just part of how i'm also proud of you for like you have achieved what you've always wanted to and you haven't necessarily had anybody like no one like helping you it's just been you which is so crazy which is insane because think of all the people like when you look around and you're like oh well this is billy bush well he was like the
Starting point is 00:17:55 godson of the president or like this is carson daly well he had his first job when he was like 17 and so like you know it's like yeah it's it's actually crazy you're like ryan seacrest yeah he came up from nothing yeah well i mean i think it's kind of cool all of us none of us have any no none of us come from anything so i think it's kind of cool that we've all came together in that sense where it's like yeah nobody's like handing us any handouts true that no and like i mean even my stint on the bachelor didn't help me like it helped all those other girls sell tummy tea and get hundreds of thousands of followers you're like five years too early nothing i know but trista still has like followers and she was the first batch i don't know
Starting point is 00:18:36 the craziest thing is the one guy that got kicked off the first episode of this season has like a hundred thousand followers and gets like 20 000 likes on his pictures that's what i want to say one episode no i'm in the second i should for sure have 200 000 i know he's like oh my god it pisses me off okay what's my favorite food i don't know veggie burger i would go for a veggie you're not a food person no i'm not i just know more about your you eat to live you don't live to eat yeah yeah what why is that have you ever been into food no we want to here i just put a treat here for you callie you know what the funniest thing is is that okay so we talked i had to fake throw it to her she's having too many treats kelty no she's fine um so when you
Starting point is 00:19:21 go on the bachelor this is like so long ago but they do this like whole psychological evaluation which is like makes me feel weird like how they had that big scandal this year but anyway um and so you meet with this like psychologist and you have to take this like weird personality test like a you know the one where you like circle abc or whatever and she told me she was like i've never had anyone score that they cared less about food or family isn't that insane and they were like i've never had anyone score and she was like what is that like it's like it's real because a lot of people are like oh i don't care what i look like or i don't care about my body or like i'm not worried about my diet i'm just like but like i really just don't care like i just i'm not for
Starting point is 00:20:01 food i don't know if i've ever met anybody in life that doesn't really care about food like i you're right i eat to live like i'm like i have to eat right now even when i was on that vacation of the golden door and they gave us three meals a day and everyone's like everyone around me is like oh my god i'm starving i'm so hungry like they're not these three little meals it was more than i've ever eaten in my life because i've always eaten like a little bit of incredibly high calorie shit like i'm the kind of person that's like oh my god i haven't eaten anything in a while i guess i'll eat three snickers like i'm like the worst about that stuff but what would be your favorite meal i mean if i was gonna go to town i would be like a piece pizza pasta in italy
Starting point is 00:20:41 like with a glass of wine like any a garlic bread i mean anything like that i love a cinnamon bread they give you from dominoes a pizza like i'm into it but i also love penny candy like i grew up on penny like i love this penny candy well in canada where i grew up they used to give you like you could go and all the candies were one cent and so you could just go and they give you this mini little lunch bag that's like tiny and you just like put as many one cent candies into it like little sour fish and like you know like it's a sweet factory yeah it's like dylan's candy bar but like in the ghetto of Canada and like they took it on the honor system so you're like I have a dollar and my mom would always be like here's a dollar you can have a dollar and be a hundred
Starting point is 00:21:22 pieces of candy and I would eat all on the way home it was terrible anyway whoa this is your life okay what's my favorite place to be a bathtub at home too at home yeah yeah like I hate leaving my house yeah it must suck to be married to me okay um do you think you could live without me no my life would be like so much chiller without you like you've really brought my stress levels up in the past couple years she does not bring my stress up at all really not at all i mean you don't really i that that was definitely let me know actually no she stresses you out she doesn't no nobody really stresses me out too much unless you like the only thing that really stresses me out about anybody
Starting point is 00:22:15 is when somebody wants me to do something work related at like 11 p.m yeah i'm like it is and then i've stopped yeah no yeah i chilled on that i'm like why are people sending emails at 1 a.m and why are they expecting me to respond yeah like i know like when you work for yourself it's like those hours get very like blurred yeah yeah yeah however i still respect them for me though i'm always in different time zones so i don't ever expect people to respond to my email but sometimes like that whole time blocking thing i'll be on a plane and i can't sleep in the middle of the night and i'll go through and write like 25 emails but like i don't mean for you to respond at 1 30 in the morning it's just that's when i have time to do the email right so just so you know okay last
Starting point is 00:22:55 two what do i do that annoys you oh god she just said it yeah emailing me in the middle of the night sorry uh that's it what's something you do that bugs me in general everything you're not as annoying as i think you are you don't annoy me at all i know me neither like at all i try to be a good adult where like i mean yes there's things like about my coldness or whatever but i try to be like a pretty direct person that's like hey can you do this i need it by friday or whatever it is so that they're like expectations out there so i don't have to be a nag too much but yeah we understand your directness i feel like that's something you think that maybe annoys other people but we we know you well does it annoy you what my directness
Starting point is 00:23:45 she's asking elena people waste my time yeah i don't like when people waste my time either okay last thing what is my favorite those were terrible by the way and i feel like you guys went easy on me just to be nice and that's fine and i'm totally gonna accept that and put that in my heart right now you don't annoy me does she like really like i'm not lying me either neither of you guys annoy me but becca is a biatch to me about my dating life so kelty was way worse on this past situation than i was because i believe wholeheartedly in my soul and that you should marry a billionaire with a plane so we can go on it i just why can't we have our what's we can have our own plane sure a feminist okay what you know what i'm tired i'm tired can you please meet someone listen you get
Starting point is 00:24:34 someone with a plane and we'll buy the yacht like it's okay we can still buy the nice things i just need to pull my weight i understand yeah okay what is your last thing what's your favorite thing about me i feel so self-serving to like ask i know it's what it is you're very you're actually a very giving person and you don't do it for praise but you actually do it out of the good of your heart elena come in it no you are such a kind thoughtful person even though you have five million things going on you still do you're very very thoughtful and you take the time to like make people feel appreciated if i like appreciate them i like that you are um you're not like like you're very true to who you are there's no like sugarcoating or pandering to people
Starting point is 00:25:31 like you're really good at and that's something that i've always wanted to be good at is like knowing when to say no and like protecting taking care of yourself you are very unapologetic for who you are yeah i like that and yeah you haven't and it's like anything else yeah and so when you tell me i don't want to do this with you it's like i don't take it personally it's just kelty's doing what she wants to do and a lot of people can't can't do that for themselves yeah that makes sense I feel like that you have a handle on yeah sense of self it's true because even like I remember when I started on insider like Kevin Frazier was like you need to stop wearing patterns on tv and you need to stop dressing like this and you need to be stopping wild they're never going to give
Starting point is 00:26:16 you the job and instead I was like well this is who I am like yeah I'm overexcited for everything and even this year my boss had had given me a note or something and was like you know you're you're so like big and going and everything and like you could tone it down a bit and i was like but i can't tone it down because like i am that actually excited about you're not acting the harry potter movie like i can't lie when i i can't like be like oh i don't care about the backstreet boys like i'm so excited we're talking about the backstreet boys and i'm so excited about the reunion or whatever it is you know like if i'm excited about something i can't really act another way so people are just gonna have to write me on twitter and when you're not excited
Starting point is 00:26:54 about something you also can't actually that's the thing you know you're getting what the truth is what matters the truth i love it or i hate it and you will know you will know yes but that means like when you do like something it is actually a really good feeling for people like do you have those friends like anytime you ask for advice or whatever and they're like no you look great you're doing great amazing like i don't want those people in my life you will tell somebody like this was not your best look yeah you know i don't want those people i'm just kidding i need to feel validated all the time help me okay um well this was a really fun experiment next time we should do elena or callie um you should be offended i take my thing back she takes it back
Starting point is 00:27:38 you're not her nice thing about you yeah yeah yeah okay um yeah we're so excited and we are not here for a long time but we're here for a good time yeah it escalated quickly Thanks for joining us on Lady Gang Quickie.
