it's time for a quickie podcast one presents the lady gang the hollywood girl posse with
lady gang quickie here's kelty knight becca tobin and jack vanek let's make this quick
hello hello hello welcome to the lady gang quickie i am becca here with jack and kelty
were you about to say something kelty no i was just gonna say that i i really i can feel the
distance the countries between us still on the same continent but hold on so sound
we just wanted to start so bad and kilty is still setting up her shit right now i'm not setting up
it's falling because everything hates because this pop filter just does not want to stay in
place ever mine has stayed on like a champ mine doesn't i hope it helps does anybody think our
P's and R's. It definitely helps. T's. Godspeed. If you ever listened to our podcast, you would
know the improved sound that has come through lately. I cannot stand listening to the sound
of my voice. I'm sorry. I can't either. What are my stupid shit that I say?
It's so cringy. I'm so cringy. It's like so devastating. I'd rather just pretend it didn't
happen and then throw it into the ether and be like, well, there it is. There it is. Well,
I just got a very interesting DM. So someone just wrote, Hey, it seems like you and Jack
and Beck are all in very similar situations. Are you together right now? Is something great
happening? And I, I, I hate to tell you, but we are two thirds of the lady gang is in hotel room
quarantine right now. But this episode is all about Becca's big move. I'm calling it. Becca
becomes Canadian. But what, what, how are we in similar situations? It's because Kelty was posting
about being in quarantine. And I'm also in quarantine. Got it. Nothing big is happening.
Well, actually, Becca and I are doing a television show without Jack, so she doesn't have to
quarantine. Honestly, Godspeed. Have fun. Yeah. Enjoy. Who cares? Well, Becca, I'm really excited
about your cross-country driving because it's a trip I've always wanted to do. So if you could
just walk us through, um, kind of the move. And I want to hear about you packing up your life in
like two days. Where is all your shit? Like, I'm so concerned for your clothing and your shoes.
Like where are things, where are the beautiful candles that were once in your house? Your house
is gone. Like, this is so crazy to me. Okay. Well start with packing. You know,
we had the option of flying up to Vancouver, but we decided we have the time. We might as well go
on a road trip, have the dog hat. Like for some reason I get extreme anxiety when I think about
two things, having to pack everything in a suitcase that's underweight. Even if I was
allowed 10 suitcases, it still stresses me out. And then I was also really, I get anxious about
like airports and getting there at a certain time. So all my shit has to be packed by a certain time.
So I was like, you know what? We have a date we're aiming to leave by. So as long as I can
pack a fucking car. It doesn't matter what time that day that we leave. We just sort of take our
time. Leisurely. Leisurely. I don't like the whole hard deadline to getting on a flight.
A soft launch to your new Canadian life. Yes. So we packed the car with all of our shit. Let
me just tell you something. Zach Martin, he can hear me because we're so close. He's just in the
next room. But in my mind, I was like, oh my gosh, we're bringing our car, which is big enough to
fit, like, you know, all the stuff that we need. And like, I can bring my infrared sleeping bag
that I'm obsessed with. And I can just lay in that all day, a yoga mat and like all these fun
things. Well, I look at the car, like the day before we're leaving, it's already 80% full with
golf clubs, golf clubs. It is freezing and raining in Vancouver, but my husband brought golf clubs.
Okay. He needed to make that one golf stop on the way up. I saw it. We did golf. I'm going to get
back to that. Okay. And then he had like a big snowboarding bag and granted some of my ski stuff
was in there, but I'm like, we're probably going to take like one weekend trip to Whistler. Like
we could probably just rent stuff. You know what I'm saying? Like he's the equipment king. Like if
he gets a hobby, he's going to go full force, like 120%. He's going to buy the top, top of the line,
like everything you could possibly have every accessory. Like it's, it's usually so convenient
until you're packing a car for six months. And you need like a jacket to wear. Is this a man
thing? Because Chris got invited to go golfing once and the whole day before golfing, he had
never golfed before. He was like, I probably need some golf shoes. And like spent the whole day
researching the Nike golf, golf shoes. And I was like, you can just get a rental shoe. Like this
men are weird. Like they got to have the air Jordans to play a game of pick a basketball in
the backyard. Like calm down. It's like a hyper-focused thing on things that don't matter
that I feel like men do. It's something incredible, truly incredible. So we did golf,
which was nice. So on our drive, we stopped in Carmel. Wait, no, we're not ready for the stops
yet. I need to know about the packing. Where's everything else? Oh my God. Well, I did like two
huge suitcases of clothes and like boots. But what I love is that right before I left for Vancouver,
I was like doing an Insta story where I'm like, how do you pack for six months? This is so
hard. And then one of the girls who's in the show with me who got here earlier, she DM'd me,
her name's Lindsay. I've not met her in real life yet, but she's on the show. And she's like,
oh my God, don't even bother. Just bring a trash bag and some boots because it's so cold and wet
here. And I was like, okay, I guess I'll put away the three pairs of leather pants I've packed.
Not going to be needing your leather pants with a nice heel, babe. We don't do a pump in Vancouver.
No. Yeah. Canada's not into the fashion. No. Well, they are. Like Vancouver has like the best,
but it's also like winter and we're going to be going to set all day. Like I just need like a
sweatsuit and some like rain boots. Some comfy vibes. So that took a lot of the stress off of
the packing that I had. And then the other stuff, the like miscellaneous things, like all the
podcasting equipment. And you know, when you're going to be on TV, there's like 800 more steps
in like your beauty routine. Cause it's like, there's a high definition camera that's going
to be in my face all day. And there's going to be like 12 hour makeup every day. And so it's like
higher maintenance and stuff like that. And so it's just like, we shoved that shit to the brim,
like the car we looked like, we looked insane. And so thank God for COVID because when we got
to these hotels, it's not like they valeted our cars for us because of COVID. But if they had,
I would have been mortified. There's like a Furbo, like the treat dispenser for Orly,
like shoved underneath the seat and the passenger side. Like, I don't remember why, but I saw on
your Instagram or maybe we're FaceTime or something. And I saw the Furbo behind you.
And I was like, wow, priorities. That is like, you brought the Furbo all the way to Vancouver.
Guys, it is when we go to hotels, I sometimes bring it. I, it is, I can spy on Orly all day.
She's my number one cause of stress and anxiety. It doubles as a camera. Like it has a function
other than just a treat throw. That's the thing is like, I can see if someone's breaking into my
house. It'll also alert me if there's a bark, which I also think would be, would tell me if
there's like a crashing window. Like I think it's security measures and I can send her treats all
day. I'm not judging you. Are you the type of person? Cause I am this type of person. Like if
I have a massive suitcase, I, even if I don't need stuff, like I will fill it to the brim just
because there's room. So is that how you guys were with the car? Completely. It was insane.
And Oh, Oh, Oh, I forgot another thing. Zach Martin put in the car. He has a container that's
like one foot by five inches, like pretty large, a large shoe box of cigars. And then also a huge
vintage cigar ashtray that he got off ebay and it's like huge so between yes i swear to you
and i'm like this is something like out of a funny comedy like that is that is deemed unnecessary
the vintage cigar large large ashtray huge huge like the size of a bowling ball okay
it's i'm like who he's like such a well-kept man he's like babes got a series i'm gonna snowboard
golf and smoke cigars he is living he's the real housewife of vancouver at this point
he is living his best life up there and he has a monitor for work that's like
a gaming monitor and so that box was like half the size oh yeah i know those yeah so you know
just me. Don't mind me. Just Zach Martin's plus one. So back to my question, where's everything
else? Literally all I brought was like, there's a closet behind me with like some jeans, sweaters,
and like a few things that are like considered dressier, like jumpsuits. And then I have like
sets, like sweatshirt sets, like tons and tons of like cozy clothes. Okay. So my real question is
about a year and a half ago, you borrowed my copy of where the crawdad sing. It was a paperback and
you were like, I'll give it back to you. But now that you've moved out of your house, like where
the is my paperback? Is everything there? It's at my house. Oh, everything's still there. Yeah.
Everything's there. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. I didn't mean to bring it back to go get your book, Kelsey,
go grab yours. It's fine. I just, you know, it's fine. Like I said, I just never forget where I
put my children. I don't ever read a book and then track where it goes. Like, do you keep them
every, like, are you that kind of a reader? This isn't, do you need it back? No, I don't need it
back. Do you want, she clearly wants it back. Did you annotate it? Sorry. A personalized book to
you now? If it's a favorite book, I would keep it. Okay. But it's fine. Everyone has a copy of
that book. No, it's fine. I'm not worried about it. It's fine. It sounds like you're not worried
about it. Dry cleaning the clothes I borrowed when I went on a tropical vacation. That's true.
those back to you. And I got some of your other clothes back with it. So I will be wearing one
of your dresses if I go on a tropical vacation. Thank you. Cool. Okay. So everything's still at
the house. Yeah. We have like, I mean, so much of our stuff is still at our house. So, you know,
I didn't have to bring all that much to Canada. Okay. I mean, I would have loved to bring more,
but you know, there's always more. So, okay. So then you start the drive and you had,
you took you four days. Can you break down the journey? Number one was we did like five hours
to Carmel, which was beautiful. And that's the day that we, it's so gorgeous. And then
fun fact, I have never been golfing or like ridden on a golf cart while someone else is golfing.
So weird. I know. And so Zach and I went out like the day we got there, it was like beautiful
outside because Carmel is gorgeous. And they had a dog friendly golf course. So me, my double
tequila and soda and Orly had the time of our lives. Like we were thriving out there on the
golf course. And I took a swing at all. Oh, you took a swing, took a swing. And I think a putt,
I actually, Zach was impressed by my swing. He did coach me a little bit. And I was like,
so sexual. It's like ghost when he's making the pottery, like comes behind and he's like,
just tilt your hips this way. And you're like, like this. Yeah. Stick your butt out.
Basically. That's like a porn I would watch for sure. A golf porn? Becca goes golfing.
You'd watch Becca's porn? Cool. No, I'll watch anyone go golf porn. I think golf is a very
sexual sport, but anyway. Yeah. Well, it was very fun. And then we did six more hours up to
Mendocino, which the only thing I knew about Mendocino is that there's a restaurant called
Mendocino Farms. They make sandwiches. Oh, delicious. Yeah. There wasn't a whole lot
there. It's a very, very small town. The hotel we stayed at appeared eight times more luxurious
on the website than it did in person. No. That was a slight bummer, but the location of the hotel was
stunning. It was breathtakingly gorgeous because it's on the coast and it's rocky and it's just
amazing. And we did a really long 10 hour drive. Before the 10 hour drive, we need to
give a one minute ad. So here it is. The Lady Gang. Okay, we're back. Tell us about this drive.
Then they did an 11 hour drive to McMinnville, Oregon. And we stayed in the cutest hotel.
it's called the Atticus Hotel it's like two two and a half years old um Zach found it somehow like
because he's also with his flaws of packing his whole life in a car he also like plans
every detail of our entire lives out so like that's a consolation as you get to also
take over the car um so he he picks this hotel and he's like and it's so cute we get there there's
like a care package for Orly and I guess McMinnville is like there's some wineries and
some fun stuff. Cause Oregon has like really good wine. Um, that was a nice stop. It was a very
welcome stop after like the shitty hotel the night before. And then like the hotel the night before
orally, like was like panicked that we were going to leave her in the hotel room by herself.
Like she knew that bad, that bad. The smell of it was like that Zach compared it best to like,
when you used to go to your friends, like kind of shitty lake house in the summer.
like, did it, did it have good reviews online? Was it deceiving? It was very deceiving. I don't
want to say what it was because I don't want to like blow up their spot, but people online liked
it. Yes. And they, you can't, you can't trust people. So I'm also in quarantine in a hotel room.
And when I got to Salt Lake city, my, um, cause I'm working for ET, I got to go back into the
good life. So I flew in business and had a driver, which like, I haven't had a long time, which was
like very welcome in my life. I was like, Oh my God, this is so nice. Anyway. So the driver was
like, Oh, you're staying at the best hotel in town. It's the grand Americana or whatever.
And like, I checked it out because I knew I was going to have to quarantine all week. So before
I came, I was like, I was telling my mom, like, I'm so excited. I'm going to be in this hotel room
and do Pilates. I'm going to, you know, um, I'll do podcasts. I'll order room service. Like I can't
go anywhere, but it'll be fine. It's gonna be so luxurious. Like get out of the house, whatever.
And I got here and like, yes, it is nice. Like if it's 1955, you know what I mean? Like this is,
I'm at grandma's house. Like I'm at grandma's house right now. Like I'm at grandma's house.
I'm sleeping in grandma's bed. I'm, I'm reading by grandma's light bulbs. I am eating grandma,
grandma's food. Like it is, I'm not at the W like this does not smell like Tahitian vanilla up in
here. Like I'm at grandma's house and that's fine, but you missold me on the website and the driver
was like, that's the best hotel. Did you pick out this hotel yourself, Kelty? I said, well,
the problem is as anyone that's in the hospitality industry will tell you during COVID, a lot of
hotels have stopped their room service because of COVID. And so when you're quarantining for a
shoot, I'm like, Becca, I'm not allowed to leave the house. So I can't go out to dinner and then
back like that ruins the quarantine. So I have to eat every meal from room service. And so there
were only a few hotels that had room service and then this was one of them. So it's fine. I do want
to let everyone know i did break down and have a french onion soup last night yum i know there's
meat the bouillon was fresh and i i had to go for i mostly just ate the cheese but i was like i
cannot have another meal off this small that's you know that sucks so if the food sucks then
i ordered three breakfasts today and put it in the hotel in the fridge like i ordered a yogurt
parfait of course kelty then a muesli parfait and an icy bowl and i'm gonna eat breakfast for
three meals today can't you get postmates i mean i can postmate sure becca but i'm trying to i'm
trying to live my life anyway i'm just telling you that hotels sometimes like when you look on it
you're like oh my god then i'll go to the gym and then i'll go to the pool this will be great
everything's closed and we're at grandma's house and it's fine and i'm very and salt lake city is
beautiful i'm just telling you that well you know there was no there was no santal lilabo skin cream
waiting for me in the shower. I'll tell you that much. Okay. Anyway, Becca, back to, oh wait,
she's like, you're such a dick. And I know it was funny because I'm on the flight and I like
get to board first and all the things like in my old life, they're going, they're going as planned.
You're feeling like, you know what I mean? And I'm like, oh my God, there's a guy waiting with
my son. I'm like, oh yeah. You know, like this is how I'm supposed to be treated. Like, you know,
and I was really excited. I am excited. It's nice to have a change of pace. Did I just hear,
this is how I'm supposed to be treated. Yes. This was an insane aside Kelty, but I do like
that you're being humbled by your hotel. Same. I mean, I know you're the pinnacle of privilege.
I am the pinnacle of privilege. And also like, it's a suite. So there's like, I'm in the living
room right now. There's a bedroom and there's like, and honestly the hotel is probably pretty
decently nice. No, it's super nice. It's just, it is. I gotta be honest. I don't,
I don't think it looks that nice from my view.
Well, what is that?
Is that a seat that you're on?
This is the chair.
It's a red floral chair from grandma's house.
That's a gross couch.
I hate.
That is.
I don't want a tapestry.
Why is everything?
I prefer.
Yes.
I prefer a hotel that is like a little bit more like modern.
Like this is a very like, you know, some of the four seat, some of the nicest hotels in
the world, like a four seasons has this exact couch.
Like some people equate tapestry with richness and luxurious and some people in their houses
too.
When you're looking for a house on the MLS, you're like, why the fuck did they put up
these tab and bully?
Like I'm on the crown watching this, you know, anyway, it's like a table at a restaurant.
I just have one question about your hotel.
Does it have one of those?
Like, um, put it this way.
There's no coffee machine.
I had to bring my own kettle.
B Y O K.
Well, that's because of COVID.
I'm sure normally they probably took it.
Yeah. You're not going to be sharing. A lot of hotels are taking out the mini bar stuff. We
actually figured this out. He's so mad at me talking shit about him right now. You can hear
me. He can tell us all about it when maybe he does an episode with you. I'm going to make him
do an episode with me. Maybe we'll do a quickie where we can like air our grievances. Yeah. It'd
be like therapy. I believe you're in Oregon and then you're very close to Vancouver. So what
happens next? So then we drive to Vancouver and how was crossing the border? The border was
actually fine. Like it was a Friday night and, and only one lane was open. We got there. We were
like, oof. But because Americans are not allowed in the border really wasn't that busy. It was a
lot of Canadians returning. So we get up there and they ask a million questions. And I was mostly
just scared about getting orally across the border. Like I had everything I needed, but I
just was like, you just never know. Yeah. Did you hide her and try to pretend you didn't have a dog
or were you like, here's my dog? No, I was like, here she is. She has her paperwork. Nobody even
asked for her paperwork. Look how cute she is. They were more concerned with like my work permit
and getting all the details. And then Zach's with me as my spouse, because right now Americans are
not allowed into the country unless you have a work permit and then your spouse is allowed to
come. But they were like very, they were asking a lot of questions because Zach actually can't
stay longer than six months. Yeah. And if you like, we would have to reapply or whatever. So
if this shoot, we're supposed to wrap in April for this show, but if it does get pushed because
of COVID, like slowing things down, then he would have to like go back before me or whatever. But
wow. We're in day four of quarantine. We've been cooking many meals. And so what, where are you?
like, are you at a cast hotel? Are you in an apartment that you found yourself? Or is this
like business living? We're in an apartment that Zach found again. I love that Zach is such a
planner. Oh, you cannot, I have not had to plan. It must be so nice to be you. Oh my God, Jared,
Jared can't plan. Yeah. Jared can't plan a single thing. Yeah, no, this is top three of my favorite
qualities of Zach Martin is that I have not had to make a reservation for six years. I have not had
to look at a hotel. I've not had to book a flight. I've not had to do anything. We're in this amazing
apartment. And the other thing that's crazy is when I got this job was when all these shows were
starting up production again in Vancouver. So like this influx of all these people were coming in
needing housing. So every single thing we would find, it would go in a day. Like it was really
hard to find. And it's also weird when you're renting for six months and you need something
furnished and you don't want it to be disgusting. Yeah. Oh yeah. So we're on like, we're in this
amazing apartment that has like its own private rooftop, which is great. Cause it's like for the
two week quarantine, we can like actually get some fresh air and like bring Orly up.
So you weren't amazing. You weren't deceived by the pictures on the website, like Kelty was with
her hotel. No, I think you're not at grandma's house. I think you're going to love Vancouver.
I love Vancouver. I've worked here before and I, yeah, I just like, I, first of all, I love
Canadian sets. I think the people are, don't, if you've never been, don't let Kelty be how you
judge Canadians. Just kidding. Just kidding. No, Canadians are just like the best people to work
with. And also everybody is so nice and I can't wait to get, break out of quarantine and actually
like, and they're great here because their numbers are so low. So things are open and like
life seems like relatively back to normal here. Yeah. Well, my dad still thinks you're on mass
singer. So he's like, what do you mean? Becca's in Vancouver. How is she doing mass singer? I'm
like, okay. And they're also like, well, we're just really sad that we can't come to the States
for Christmas. And I was like, well, Becca's in Vancouver. You can go visit her. Why don't you
and Chris come up for, uh, the holidays. I don't think Chris can go. Yes. Yeah, he can. He's your
husband. A spouse can go. Yeah. Don't say that. My mom listens. You're allowed to come. My friend
who's not even married to her Canadian boyfriend is coming for the holidays and the quarantine is
different. Um, now in Canada, you just have to take a rapid test at the airport. If you're
maybe Chris and I will come to you for Christmas and we'll go skiing. Yeah. All my friends. I hate
you guys. How do we, how do we get Jack in? I'm in a thruple. How do we get Jerry in?
Anyway, well, Becca, I'm so glad that you're there and I'm really looking forward to quarantine. We
have to go, but I'm so happy you made it safely and I'm happier in Canada. Have a Tim Hortons for
me and um you know we have a lot of canadian fans so hi canadians if you have any small dogs that
