Starting point is 00:00:00 What's that smell? Ah yes, the crisp smell of fall. Fall means sweater weather. And speaking of sweater weather, I'm going to Marshall's today to grab a new cardigan and maybe check out their selection of cashmere. You know, new items arrive all the time, so they're always a fresh selection of the most wanted pieces for fall. Marshall's buyers are hustling every day to get the deal so we get the good stuff, and this fall is no different. On everything, Leather and suede, designer handbags, on-trend denim, high-quality boots, accessories, you name it. So go get that sweater and all the other must-haves you'll love for fall. Marshalls is a one-stop shop for all the good stuff for less.
Starting point is 00:00:37 It's decided then. I'm going to my Marshalls for a whole new fit and more. And you should too. Score some amazing deals in-store or at marshalls.com. It's time for a quickie. Podcast One presents The Lady Gang. The Hollywood Girl Posse with Lady Gang Quickie. Here's Kelty Knight, Becca Tobin, and Jack Vanek.
Starting point is 00:00:57 Let's make this quick. Hello, hello, hello. Welcome to Lady Gang Quickie. I am Becca here with Jack and Kelty. Hello. Hi, guys. How's it going? You okay, Kelty? Yep. You all right? I'm great.
Starting point is 00:01:14 What? No, I'm a little bit gassy. Okay. I was like, are you getting ready to like drop some bad news? You're not talking, your face is... I'm good. I'm actually really excited because, um, I'm when this airs, I'm going to be in France and it's for work, but I want to tell you guys about it cause it's actually really cool. And I had no idea it existed and I feel really excited that I get to go. So, um, as you know, I made this show super fan and we don't have an air date yet. We're waiting
Starting point is 00:01:44 on that still. I don't know what is going on and when this is going to be on the air. I hope it's soon because I really don't want my outfits to be that out of style. Um, anyway, so we made this show and what's really cool and very lady boss about this whole situation is when you create a show, like, um, when you create a show, you also create a format. So because it's a game show, it's a format of a show that you can then go and redo in every country around the world. So you could do like, we're doing super fan USA, but you could do super fan UK where like Kylie Minogue is the biggest star or, and you can do super fan Australia where Delta Goodrum is the biggest star and you can do, you know, super fan Korea, super fan Japan. Like
Starting point is 00:02:33 it's, it's really like franchising it out. You franchise it out. Like how they have the voice Australia, the voice UK, you know? So I actually did not think about this at all when I was creating the show and really until we got into like the selling of it and it came up in contracts, I was like oh wait what so it's really really cool because we're going to this thing called MIP I have no idea what this stands for but it's in Cannes and it's at the same convention center and those big stairs where they have the Cannes Film Festival and they you go with your network and you basically like everyone takes from across the whole world there's going to be people there from all around the whole world they all come and get together and show the shows and the formats
Starting point is 00:03:18 that they've made it's cool and so you're like basically going to like you know i used to go like the magic trade show and try to like sell your clothes to like all the stores it's basically that and i'm sure it's going to be long days and like i'll probably be exhausted and terrible absolutely but it's kind of freaking cool to go because we got we made a special reel of like the footage and we had when we made it we had to make it knowing that like 85 of the people that were watching it didn't speak english so you had to like explain the it was like such an interesting craft. You have to explain the show and then caption it and, you know, use words that are like general. Like it was just really interesting. And so we made the show and Jodi and my partner,
Starting point is 00:03:55 Jodi and I, we're going to go over, we're going to sell our wares. But what's really cool is one of the guys, his name's Michael Weinberg, and he was our co-EP, co-executive producer on the show. And I just love this man. Like he's just one of those people. And you know, I don't really usually like working with men. I was going to say, I'm shocked. Yeah. Because I really, i really only like working with females um and i know it's not weird about me no i think it's pretty normal because most men suck to work with when you're in high level executive entertainment my god yeah yeah anyway sorry to generalize no no yeah no it is but anyway michael i didn't know him he was brought in by another one of our producers and so this we met on this project
Starting point is 00:04:34 and he's just like he's so special when we wrapped he came to my house and he brought me an orchid and i literally turned him and i said i will kill this do you want to take this home because it's beautiful it will be dead and he said i believe in you kelty and i did keep that orchid alive for three weeks and then it died and then it was just like you know the pot with just a stick yeah where the do the leaves go like the butterfly clip that they yeah why is it always anyway he's just like salt of the earth like a really good guy but right after we wrapped superfan he ended up taking a job at sony a big executive job so he's not even available for season two like he basically went off and is now an executive and what's cool you've established it he like that's
Starting point is 00:05:16 important what do you mean like you've established what the show is with him exactly which is like he was like so important yeah but what's cool about it is like in hollywood most people are like they just they they use you for what they can at that moment and then you never hear from them again until they need you again. Like 10 years later, they're like, Oh, of course I know Michael. Let me. Yeah. Anyway. So he's kept in touch this whole time during this whole process. And just yesterday I got an email and he told us, I'm hearing such great things about super fan and everyone at MIP is so excited. And then he said, someone in a meeting today told me it will definitely sell. So I just thought it was so nice to get that like vote of confidence because usually
Starting point is 00:05:59 they don't, shows don't sell unless they're already on for a season. Right. And they show the success. Well, yeah, yours wouldn't even be aired yet. So they're basically going in blind. Exactly. And so Masked Singer here in America was actually a Korean format, right? Yeah. And it was huge there. Right. And so they brought it over. So it's essentially the same thing, but usually you have like a season of The Voice America and then they buy it. So it's just cool. We're not expecting to sell at this time. We're really just going to like meet people, meet the buyers, see what else people are making and see what's going on but um and just like make connections so that when our show is on the air we can be like oh now it's on the air we met you like you
Starting point is 00:06:37 know building connections now can you answer a question you don't have to say like uh numbers but like you cbs is the network that your show is on gonna be on yeah you and jody created this so you would like split the sale with cbs like how does that work i'm not a hundred wait does cbs own it yeah so cbs well okay so what happens is this is the best way to explain it when you make a television show there's like little pots for everybody right so there's like the network pot the executive producer pot the host pot the whatever there's something called the format like the format pot and so wherever the show goes the creator there is money in the budget when they buy it that goes into the format pot and it's based on the budget of how they make
Starting point is 00:07:26 it so no matter where it sells jody and i have our little gold pot yeah that's full of our money and it's different from the cbs money it's different from the studio money like it's it's its own thing now because it's our first show ever we weren't able to negotiate like the biggest pot it's like a mug it's not like a soup bowl right you know what i mean but um in success that of course adds up right right um so everyone's like oh my god you're gonna be so rich and i was like i mean please but like it takes a long time your show has to be on the air for like 20 years before you're like i created family guy you know what i mean it's just such a different beast um but yeah so we have like our own our own little like format pot and then they also like if and this is
Starting point is 00:08:11 what i'm actually the most excited about i would love for the show to sell around the world and i think it's a great format that would be awesome around the world for sure but what excites me the most is that they have the option of if they make superfan australia they can hire jody and i to come and be producers so we could like go and set up the shows around the world and go live in switzerland for three months while you're setting up superfan switzerland and that to me is like something that I would, I think I would really love to do. Um, cause it's like the creative of like learning about the artist and figuring out how to do like, that's really exciting to me. Um, and then also the, I was going to say one more thing, the little format pot, not to get
Starting point is 00:08:54 too inside baseball is based off of what the budget is. So like in America, they spend so much money making television shows because it's a big market. There's a lot of people, they'll spend millions of dollars per episode, but when you sell it to France or you sell it to Germany, they may make that same show for like $200,000 an episode. Right. So it just depends around the world like what – like the UK has big television budgets, but like other cities wouldn't. Anyway, I think it could be so huge. Like for me, a super fan, like Bollywood would be incredible because it's so bright and the fans are so bright and there's so much like culture and history in that music and the dance and like the costuming and stuff.
Starting point is 00:09:33 Like I just think it would be so amazing. So that's like – I have like my top five countries. anyway i'm really excited about it and i'm also excited because you know we've been on tour and i've been wearing my sparkly boots and my pink outfits and like really reverting back to like high school kelty but i i did before i came on the tour i had a styling session with jack and not me other jack and jack like got me a bunch of like lady boss outfits like from my closet we just shot my closet i didn't buy anything new but he kind of like put stuff together that's like blazers and honestly it's like stuff becca would wear to be honest it's like ripping off her stuff
Starting point is 00:10:03 but I'm excited because I'm going to go to MIP, but I already have my outfits and like, I know what I'm going to wear. That's like, I'm going to be on the conference room. And like, obviously most people are wearing like black slacks and blazers, but I have like my outfits, but they're like cool. Like she's not a regular girl, but professional. Yeah. Cool. Starting point is 00:12:38 you'll have an hour a week for us no no the lady gang will continue i'll tell you where i see like honestly honestly honestly okay show us let me tell you what i honestly see for my future yeah put the little people over here that you're going to leave behind. I, I really, this is, this is a lot. So I'm just going to drop the ball here. Okay. In my gut of guts, in my dream next 10 years, Chris gets out of music management, the day-to-day managing of people's lives. It's so stressful, so much pressure demanding. It never stops. It's weekends. It's nights. It's, you know, even though I love his clients, I love, love, love them. But like I would, And he's doing some consulting on some big deals.
Starting point is 00:13:18 And I feel like he would be a great person that flies around and goes to New York for a week and goes to London for a week to do these consulting and works on these big things in like more of a consulting, big executive way than like the day-to-day minutiae of being in an office. And with that, I would like to move out of Los Angeles and I would like to move somewhere. I'm not exactly sure where that is. but I would like to be more in nature, more secluded, um, somewhere where I could have some land and I could build my brother his own property that's on our property, but it's like far enough away that he's not living with us. Um, and have my family be there, like kind of a compound, but I obviously need to do that. Like not in LA can't afford it. Um, and then for that, I would be podcasting and we'd be zooming in, you know what I mean? Because this is like the,
Starting point is 00:14:06 So anyway, so that's what I really see for the next 10 years is that I will not live in LA. Chris will not be doing full-time music management. I will be creating and podcasting and living, but it will not be in LA. What kind of a climate do you want to do this in? I need a humid, hot climate. You don't like dry. I do not like dry.
Starting point is 00:14:27 It's not good for my skin. I thought you said Palm Springs maybe. I do like Palm Springs, but that's hot, but it's very dry. Do you want seasons? I think I hate being cold but I do like a season I could never move to Canada okay um that's why you can vacation in the seasons you can vacation and go to a winter thing yeah I do I do I have been looking at like a lot of expat properties I could see myself having the compound be in Belize or somewhere like that and then coming back to the states but also I don't know I like
Starting point is 00:14:58 I would love to live in Canada again I love Canada it's too cold it's way too cold I can't do maybe you do canada summer canada summer what did you yeah chase uh what are the what's it called snowbirds oh yeah you could do like canada summers and then palm springs winter yeah oh palm springs winter would be nice i love palm springs in the winter it's like no and remember when you're saying that you wanted to open well first you wanted a hut and then you were like maybe i want to open a bookstore and then you're like palm springs might be my spot like you could to open something up and have it be your little like baby yeah in palm springs i can see that for you i did actually tour suzanne summer's house in palm springs it was for sale epic it was very old
Starting point is 00:15:42 and like very cheesy like in the 1980s like everything was like that green limestone cord over street from glee is dating has been dating her gram granddaughter for a long time really really yeah that's just fun factor super fun fact anyway we'll see what happens but i just i know this was like all me talking about myself that's a shocker but um but late again we'll continue that's what it actually makes me excited and even being on tour and seeing all the women who are like i've i'm an og like they've grown up they were like i was fifth i was they were yeah young you know those girls they're like i was 21 when i started and now i'm baby and no the ones that are like i was in medical school and now i have a phd yeah she's they're doing like
