this year are like i want to travel but where do i go like i never wanted to go to portugal and then you went to portugal just today you came in and you were talking about mammoth so we're going to talk about the best vacations we've ever taken in our lives and the worst vacations we've ever taken in our lives i love that i love a worst and a best same okay um i know my best okay it's Definitely. A thousand percent the South African adventure. Ooh. When we went on the safari, that was by far the coolest experience I've ever had.

Where did you go? What did you do? We went to a place in South Africa called Sambona. It's a privately owned reserve, which a lot of them are public. but i liked that it was private because it was small and they take very good care of the animals on the reserve and um it's like glamping so you're in like a cool tent but you have an outdoor shower it's chic af and then you go in every morning like you wake up at the crack of dawn and you go you have your breakfast and you layer up because like you get on the truck very or the

jeep like really early in the morning and you go throughout the day you bring lunch or they pack lunch for you so you have like a picnic but the whole day you're just like tracking animals it's the coolest thing ever did you have a soul problem with being on a private reserve because they said that basically like it's unnatural because they'll take like they'll kill a sheep and put it in the tree for the jaguars to make sure they didn't do that they weren't they were like the good ones they're like this is it was such a huge huge huge huge huge piece of land the only thing they did control was poachers so like they had tracking devices on the rhinos so that not so they could find them but so that the people that guarded them could track them so that they could basically be

bodyguards which all rhinos now need bodyguards yeah because there's poachers that are killing them for their horn what did you wear on that trip like did you go like safari chic because you have to wear certain colors i didn't have to wear any specific yeah you can't wear red on a safari the animals will charge you that's like the first rule of safari i'm pretty sure they never told us this uh you're only allowed to wear gray green and navy blue no white either i don't think that that they didn't tell you that on the private fancy okay well over in kruger national park with the rest of the regulars don't wear red um anyways uh i they might have but i'm also not an idiot so i didn't wear red yeah i don't really remember what i wore i was like very cash that's

the other thing that I liked was like nobody cares what you look like yeah did you like was it a sexual vacation no I mean it was a honeymoon so like I don't want a sexual vacation like I'm not somebody like you who plans the Seychelles just to have sex I can do that in my bed like every other night you know what I mean and actually I find that it's more pressure a sexual vacation because like yeah then you probably really don't want to do it yeah when i'm like actually the horniest it's like the least opportune times like i have a bush and like haven't seen the sun in four months and like you know like a zit on my forehead like i don't i don't it wasn't sexual per se but it was a very cool experience romantic it was romantic and it

was also i liked that it was private because it was like very few people around and i don't like people and i don't like places that feel touristy yeah so it felt very like cool and chic go ahead jack looking at me what's your favorite um i think my favorite vacation is when i went to asia a couple years ago i did china um korea and japan tokyo is one of the coolest cities i've ever been to in my entire life is it seems okay here's my question you would not like it no but i love rules no it seems busy it's busy yeah but people are so polite it's so clean it's so like such an intuitive cohesive city it's really easy to get around it's easy to use public transportation um i didn't find it to be too expensive there it is more expensive than the states like their

cabs are really expensive but other than that was fine like what do you do when you go to tokyo other than like look at the delicious food the food's amazing okay i would hate that because i don't care about yeah actually you would hate it because it is like delicious ramen and sushi and just yeah fresh fish i went to the fish market when i was there and that's where they just they literally bring the fish in and then make sashimi like right in front of you um there's this place called golden guy that are a bunch of these places called micro bars that can fit only like three or four people into each one and there's 600 of them over this three block area that they made during world war ii i think it was um i did karaoke at the bar from uh the bill larson translation

i went to mount fuji what do you do on fuji is it naturey or is it touristy it's naturey but i also went during the most overcast day so i couldn't see anything so we traveled for like three hours and didn't see anything um and then in china i went to go see the great world sorry before you tokyo like how did you plan it like for me the city trips are hard because it's like on vacation i want to sleep and rest and be on the beach or like whatever like so are you like every day did you know what you were going to do or you just wake up in the morning like i'm going to go to a micro bar today um we like i loosely plan trips um and i have things that i want to do and then the day can take you wherever it takes you i'm not like a regimented at 3 30 we're going

to go to this place um but there's so much to do in tokyo you could be there for years and still not experience any of it yeah do you shop there's good shop there's good shopping there's like the harajuku um what's that really like does it look like that gwen stephanie music video kind of um but it's just it's such a the culture is so cool the people are so nice and yeah i loved it i absolutely loved it i want to go back i like china um yes but i probably wouldn't go back would you go in china i went to shanghai and uh so and uh beijing but yeah we went to the um the great wall we wandered off into this uh like prohibited area that we probably could have been thrown in jail for going to see and it the great wall is the most like touristy place to go to ever

so we ended up sneaking off and going to this place that is pretty much untouched and it was the most beautiful view i've ever seen in my life so that was pretty cool did you go during the season when the plants come those beautiful flowers orchard season then no uh that was japan oh and that's in april i went to other places in asia i think it's just japan um i missed it but it looks who did you go with my friend kendra that i do usually go on all my vacations with is kendra hurt now that you have a boyfriend and you're going on vacation with boyfriend yes but no we'll still do girls trips okay great um best vacation ever best vacation ever okay i have a question when you guys picked your best vacations was it like clear 100 this is

the best vacation no you just picked one of a couple good ones no i mean it's top three okay what's the other top two you don't have to explain them but like what are i mean i liked japan yeah Like, Tokyo, Kyoto, and then, I don't know what other. I mean, I like Spain, but it wasn't, like, oh, Italy. Like, any of those Italy trips were, like, the greatest. I did, yeah, Almalfi Coast. For people who don't travel a lot and they want to go somewhere international, I always say to go to Italy. Because it's, like, I don't know, it has everything.

it's like the best food hands down the best food april spritzes it's a lifestyle and everything's beautiful like you just can't go wrong if you go to italy and it doesn't take as much work i don't feel like to make a good trip yeah and everything's kind of close together yeah my other one that i was going to say was santorini was is probably the most beautiful place i've ever been to so good there so pretty i've never been to greece you haven't it's cool i think mykonos is very romantic too the white streets it's like very chic yeah that's how santorini is what's yours um okay so my favorite vacation ever was um sailing the sandblast islands in panama so you fly to panama and then i saw the panama canal which is like boring um i mean it's a wonder of the world or

whatever but blah blah blah um then you fly on this tiny little plane and you flew so low that like the windows were open on the plane it was like one of those like the propeller planes where they like throw it down to like get it started i'm like is this safe anyway you land at this like port-ish town and we got a catamaran and so we rented this catamaran from a french couple so on the boat there's only two rooms one of the rooms is like chris and me it's like a little double bed he barely fit in it and the other room is this husband and wife and so the wife cool role reversal is the captain and the husband's the chef oh fun and so you go and basically the sandblast islands are like 180 tiny islands outside of Panama. And some of them are as

big as this room. Some of them are like a mile, but a lot of them are just like those little like picturesque sand dunes that you would see like on a card where it's just like two palm trees and then like sand. And so we went and what's cool about them is there's so many islands and it's such an undiscovered place. Like once the tourism, once everyone hears this on Lady Gang, it's going to be a tourism trap. It's going to be like going to the Great Wall. But at the time I went like five years ago no one was going there so we went sailing for an entire week and we only saw one other boat the whole trip so it's like you were in the ocean with the most beautiful scenery the most beautiful islands no one around like so at night there'd be like huge lightning storms and

it would just be like you and the islands and like ocean and just this little catamaran like it was so sweet who planned that so basically like i planned it like i found that sandblast was amazing to sail and then i worked on this like with the couple that ran the boat and we got on the boat and they were like we're gonna take you to all of our favorite islands but then like i hate being stuck with a couple also what if something happens i mean i always go dark but like that sounds like a perfect time to murder like picture this like i got up in the morning and like we're just no it sounds great and this guy like rose up in a fucking hollowed out log and he's like do you want these lobsters for dinner and like we got the lobsters on the boat but the couple is really cool and

they have their own space so like but here's what happened every day you'd wake up at the morning you'd get up you'd have coffee breakfast and then they would take you in the dinghy that was attached to the boat to your own island and they would bring a cooler and two hammocks and they would put you on this tiny little island like the size of this room hang the hammocks give you lunch and food and drinks and be like okay wave at us when you want to come back didn't get so bored no but here's what it was is that i feel like i'd want to kill jared if i had to kill zap what it was was that i have such a hard time relaxing as you know that any little thing this makes you relax well any little thing the pillow being off-centered the weather not like not the weather

like when i'm at a resort like if i can hear someone else's conversation or i can see their book or you liked the isolation like the isolation i literally remember sitting on this beach one day for like five hours and I just sat in the water and played at the edge of the water it was so common Chris was like sleeping or reading and he was like you've just been sitting there for like four hours and I was just making balls of sand and like collecting balls of sand it was the first time and I was like 32 at the time that I can ever remember being present in my own brain where I was damn like I was just looking out and I was like looking at the ocean and like feeling that I was there and i wasn't like trying to already move on to the next thing right because on vacations

that's what's hard for me about doing city vacations but like when i did prague it was fine like prague is amazing but like there was always something else to do so i'd like go to prague and then i'd be like okay next we have to go to the haunted hit and then we gotta get dinner and we're gonna like there's always something to do and something to like produce so this like boat trip was the perfect opportunity to just like really do nothing i like that have you ever thought of therapy oh my god you're the second person to tell me that i think you need it you think i need it being honest yeah i think you'll just enjoy your life a little better i mean i enjoy my life tools no my other friend was like have you ever gone to therapy i think

you should you have gone to therapy of course i've been in therapy my whole life i haven't gone like i'm a psychiatrist not a psychiatrist i think maybe you need someone to like a little more woo-woo like crying no like a little more like the be present yeah figuring out like your soul's purpose yeah like not to go so deep but like to get past this like weird video game level that you always live in right because you're always sort of like on to the next on to the next I got a treat I got it like yeah I got the prize I'm like a prize you're a pac-man level four yeah like your life is a video game and so I wonder what would happen if you like learn to sort of like be in the moment I'm getting better but you're right okay maybe that should be

it wasn't on my list for 2020 but I think it would be good and I think that like I could try it yeah but then you know therapy will be this thing where it's like I remember going to therapy the first time I went you're like a psychopath in therapy I bet right they give you the homework and you're like I will do the best about me grid of my self-care it's like it's like a psychopath goes into therapy and is like i'm gonna beat this i'm the best the type of therapy i do you can't win or be good at it yeah okay like there's a therapist that'll knock you down you do get assignments but like she doesn't check them and she doesn't give a shit if you do it well you know what i mean it's kind of like it's for you your assignment would probably be like not to do

an assignment oh yeah your therapy needs to be the island that's here's the thing if you are like found out tomorrow that you were gonna die in a month would you change anything yeah of course what would you do i can stay at home and do crafts okay really uh-huh that's how you would spend your last days but like what were but like honestly deep down like those crafts are you like crafting because it's like going towards a purpose like i would just creating something out of no it's true it right it's like the people you make the two choices like people just keep doing their life or they like go and travel and see things and like that would be very hard for me to just like turn off you'd be you'd do an alex trebek would you want i do an alex trebek i would alex

Trebek. I'm like, Alex Trebek, you've been on TV for 90 years. You're so rich. You don't need a finish. He doesn't know what it's like to not have that. Right. I don't want an Alex. I gotta get out before I turn into Alex. Would you like adopt a ton of dogs and like... Yeah, I would

just like... Be in your hot tub. Right. I am really... I have never talked to a single soul again. I am really... Here's the thing. I'm very good at relaxing. But I have to sit myself. And you're allotted time. right because i know it's going to be over like when i am on vacation like i am full vacation

like bye you guys you know i go to the golden door turn my phone off for a week i'm like but that's not a relaxing vacation golden door is not it's like you have tasks it's like you have to hike and and starve yourself yeah it's not really like fun it up the lady gang cool okay well this was a great episode um you never talked about your worst vacation i don't i think aren't we out of time no we're not oh go ahead god it feels like we've been talking about this wow worst vacation um i know something well i know this isn't the worst vacation i've ever had but i fucked up on our portugal trip when we went to the southern coast i thought it was going to be this beautiful remote type of an experience which is what i had been

told by everybody pretty much about it and the town that i chose to stay in which was recommended by everybody ended up being literally like cabo during spring break you know those little like helicopter things that they fling up in the air and they light up there were those every single bar there and restaurant was a tourist trap cool i was so because i'm such a planner only on vacations and i put so much work and effort into making it the best that it can be and i really screwed up and i was pissed i was so pissed and then we ended up traveling to the place that we should have stayed at and it was amazing it was amazing that's always and they gave me fomo and i was so pissed so if you go to portugal stay in lagos lagos that's the town that's like amazing

where'd you stay albuferia that sounds like a disease um what was your worst i don't know i mean i had bad things happen like when i went to tulum and i got dengue fever but that wasn't a bad trip um i mean i did go to japan for the second time that i went i had the flu oh it was awful but there haven't been like experiences places that i haven't liked me neither i've liked every place i think i was a little disappointed in positano me too it was really touristy and like you stay we were staying in like a villa up like a million steps so everything's like built into the cliff which is gorgeous but then like really logistically a nightmare because you have to like walk down like 5 000 steps to get to the town and then when you get to the town it's like

really tons of tourists and tiny i feel like the town the positano town is kind of like how not it's not as bad as the place that I stayed in in Portugal but it is very mostly 99% catered to tourists yeah there's not much authenticity there yeah I mean but then we would drive like 20 minutes to other places it was insanely gorgeous so that was like really the only thing that was bumming me out the worst vacation I ever had was I went on vacation with one of my exes and we went to the islands somewhere and I can't remember like the Bahamas or whatever you know and maybe hawaii anyway we're staying in this resort and at the time this ex was like really really into smoking weed and um we spent the entire vacation for weed looking for weed oh

my god are you kidding vacation and then we found some guy that was like i can get you weed and i remember like wait i really need to know where you were because that makes all the difference and then we went down to the beach and the guy was like i have weed and then he was like in you know those huts they set up that like you can get the jewelry and it's all from china but like they sell it like it's from mexico yeah it's like a hat a sombrero or whatever and he like went in the ground and started digging and then pulled out this like giant bag of weed i say that with air quotes and then we were so excited by the way i don't even really like smoking weed but i was like totally being a liar to myself and i was like yeah we need weed like just to be cool and have

him like me but like i was like not into it at all who was this act i can't tell you and then what kelty on weed then so then we got the weed and went back to the hotel room and we're smoking the weed and like this sounds like a nightmare and it was like not working and we're like we clearly it wasn't weed and like we should it was just like a plant it was like they probably have that bag of like ginger sitting there for like asshole tourists like us the whole time yeah but anyway the whole thing was like we were together and it was supposed to be so romantic we're so stuff moments and it would be like so fun and the whole time like all this dude wanted to do was find drugs and i was like trying so hard to be like a weed girl to be cool to be cool and that

was the moment where i was like this is like not the right relationship for me so i think we broke up right after that but anyway um okay don't get your weed on a beach and this we weren't here for a long time we're here for a good time for a good time thanks for listening and make sure to rate and review this podcast wherever you get your podcasts.
