Starting point is 00:00:00 Hi, I'm Barbara aka your nursing educator on Instagram. I'm a registered nurse and I create content to help nursing students feel ready to take on anything and everything that comes with the job and trust me it's a lot. Here's one of my favorite and simplest pro tips. Upgrade your scrubs to figs. Figs are designed for us. They are super soft, lightweight, and breathable with four-way stretch to keep up with your every move. Polished professional silhouettes? Check. Functional details and pockets in all the right places, check and check. No matter what your day has in store, Figs has layers to match. Their underscrubs are perfect on their own or as a lightweight base layer to help keep you cool and dry.
Starting point is 00:00:40 And when the temperature drops, their outerwear styles are made for everything from chilly commutes to freezing hospital hallways. If you're in healthcare or love someone who is, check out Figs. Head to wearfigs.com and use code FIGSCA for 15% off your first order. That's wearfigs.com, code FIGSCA. So weird. Sorry. We're using new headphones today with built-in microphones. I can keep hearing her.
Starting point is 00:01:31 I think you have me on too loud. Too loud? Yeah. Yeah. No, but that's how we're hearing ourselves. Is that better? Okay. Well, this is excellent content.
Starting point is 00:01:40 Riveting. Kelty's drunk, so this might be terrible. I am so... What is my problem? I don't look like I have a problem at all. Because if I'm not drunk, I'm not fun. But what does this say about me? Here's the thing.
Starting point is 00:01:53 this is why we need you drunk because you kind of like like keep us all together and like lead the general energy of the lady gang so if your energy is off then it makes me and becca off so we need you on your tip-top drunken shape i know but i'm kind of embarrassed no you shouldn't be everybody loves it honestly you said things in today's taping that the crew couldn't even contain their laughter it was it was insane can't hear you crazy okay well jack i brought this for you what i'm turning you i have a couple things so this week i had ideas for what i wanted to do for my happy ending or good week bad week and they wouldn't let me do it so front one of them was that i wanted to give you this gold lime a uh bathing suit that i got in the mail that is so
Starting point is 00:02:35 ugly i think you probably wear that no to coachella nope thank you okay and the other thing is i have here for you guys i got you a little american frederick i got nipple covers i got you a gift i love here you go wow tell to you know what these are like piercings just nips they sent them to us in the mail i was going to give them to you on the show so basically what it is amazing it's a it makes it look like a petal it's a sticky petal that you put on and then it gives you a hard nipple like for real forever it's like when jennifer aniston did exactly on friends yeah hot nipple anyway enjoy those i kind of like it okay um you guys let's talk about where we're at 50 million downloads congratulations to us tell everyone what i did for you well kelty bought us
Starting point is 00:03:20 a cake from magnolia and she brought it to us is this one mine that i'm turning down i don't know hello kelty brought us a cake and then sang happy birthday to us however was only looking at becca straight in the eyeballs no it's because here's no this is the part of lady gang is that you're like get drunk get drunk get drunk but then when my shifty eyes can only focus on one thing which is rebecca tobin it's true you're angry you can't be a hater and a lover i wasn't angry i just didn't understand what was going on so you like brought out the cake no i was singing i was singing happy 50 million to you happy 50 million i couldn't really understand what she was saying and then i was like trying to look at the 50 million on the cake well i finally put three
Starting point is 00:04:05 and three together you are not that bright even though you got a 4.4 in high school i'm not i never claimed to be context clues if people were like hey here's a clue on jeopardy and you just went into people and i got the clue and it said wait what that would be my clue for jack vanek because like every time we text or email or anything's going on you're always just like wait what yes she does every time sorry so true i'll be like hey did you see that email from so-and-so wait what every time um do you guys notice something different about the closet today We're in the closet. We've just finished taping our next episode of Lady Gay.
Starting point is 00:04:39 Take a look. Take a look around. Take a look at what you're seeing. Well, now it's like- I see your bra right here. No, that just, okay. I see nothing different. Emily, on Friday, her job was to clean this closet.
Starting point is 00:04:52 And she cleaned it. And it's so organized. Look at all the shoes. Your closet was very organized. No, but it was like all the sweaters were thrown. Now it's like really, okay, Jack's putting eye drops in. She's getting LASIK tomorrow. I know.
Starting point is 00:05:04 So is that why you're eye dropping? Yeah. So tell me about the LASIK. Like, are you going to lose some of your personality because you're not going to have like blind vision? Do you think my LASIK is or my bad eyesight is like your Hashimoto's? Like, am I defined by it? I'm not defined by Hashimoto's. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:05:20 But at the same time, I do feel like when we first met with E and they're like, we're going to give you a TV show. Don't with your faces. We're Kardashian-ing. What do you mean? Kardashian-ing. Okay. giving myself a normal eyesight is not with my face no it you lose a bit of your like charm of like i can't see shit like now that personality trait is out the window i guess it is we no longer
Starting point is 00:05:43 can be like oh sorry jack can't see like now you can fully see and now i'm just an idiot and we need to know exactly what you can see at all times okay i think you still have some character left though just i know she's being hard on you no you still have character like jack the only interesting thing about you is that you were blind are you nervous no they don't ever fuck up lacy no they can't i mean people that don't knock on wood but they like you'd be the only one i'd be the one and then it's like i could probably like have a movie written about me or something becca if jack's lacy gets fucked up will we still allow her to be in the lady gang so yeah i think that we'd be discriminating okay you can still be in the lady gang oh thank you well you're gonna replace one
Starting point is 00:06:25 of us with eve and i feel like i would have been the one that would have gone out such a good a replacement for any of us i know she might replace me no actually today you really proved that you're irreplaceable really when you said shake your asses what what raise your glasses raise your glasses and you were dancing like a cool mom yeah for god you are such a cool mom kelty she loved it you just need a kid what's the most sad for me is that i worked so hard on the show this week like i really focused on like knowing all my points like what i was going to do as the moderator of the table. Like I was Jada Pinkham Smith at the red table talks. I was like, I'm going to own this fucking table. I think you did a great job. I think you're just being hard
Starting point is 00:07:06 on yourself. I think it wasn't my best work, but you know, I do what I can. Room to grow. Room to grow. Every day can't be the best, you know, you know, take it and learn. I will say that in life in general, in my TV Hollywood experience, anytime that I think something is really good, it always tanks. And anytime I'm like, I hate everything about that. And it makes me uncomfortable in my gut it's a flourish of success like i don't why is that like do i have bad taste i don't know if it's that i think that that there may be just as like a downfall to being overly confident in something and it's like you're kind of like pigeonholing what you're seeing maybe i don't know like i think it's better the greatest and it'll do like shit and then like i could do
Starting point is 00:07:48 like a live special i'll be like that was kind of shit and they're like that's the highest thing that's ever happened before and i'm like what really but also it's probably better like when you leave something and you're like and then like anything is like a good improvement to it rather than expectations are low yeah set your expectations low becca when you were um auditioning and like doing auditions did you feel like you booked the jobs that you felt like shit about or when you walked out being like i nailed that did you ever book those jobs like your glee audition did you feel like you nailed it um no i don't i did not feel like i i nailed the screen test of that at all but like i don't ever feel like i really nail anything i don't either because
Starting point is 00:08:29 you're being stared at by like strangers who are judging you so it's very rare that they're like making you even feel good about it usually their job is to make you feel really as inadequate as possible it's pretty much casting directors in los angeles except the other day i the other day i went in for it was like a recurring role on ballers and i walked in the rock i know it's your guy it was supposed to be me but i don't i don't actually know who even got it but i walked in and the cast director was like oh my god i just love the lady gang and that felt so good and like she was championing champion championing me in the room and i could feel it yeah and that was actually like the first time in probably like four years that i've had a positive like that positive it's
Starting point is 00:09:18 either neutral right it's usually just neutral sometimes it's just terrible the energy you're getting and then sometimes like that was such a like breath of fresh air i didn't even care that i didn't get the job i was like but you made it seem like you were important i were important i was important even though there's like six girls in the waiting room who look exactly like me and are probably going to do the same job that i do right it's like nice to have somebody make you feel special no casting seems like the most uh soul-sucking like everybody is so irreplaceable oh situation yeah and i kind of feel for them because that's like a really tough yeah you're like a dream crusher yeah no i remember this hasn't happened to me in a few
Starting point is 00:09:57 years but i remember when i first started my job my old old old boss like many bosses ago it was like kind of his mo to like every six months test like 25 people against me for my own job oh like so shitty it was so crazy they would like pull in and then in the morning they would be like oh just take this seat and you would like seat in a director's chair and then by one by one they would bring in girls with your friends who were the co-hosts to like read sat there and watch sat there and watch it was yeah i'm gonna do that to zach when i get home tonight be like let me bring in my down in this director's chair and i'll bring in like 25 like replaceable husbands that's a really shitty while you watched it yeah like you would be sitting there no because
Starting point is 00:10:40 it's show business like it's like no not even actors would put up with that shit it was crazy and i was also too much of like a baby like i know i'm like so overly confident i'm like i'm the shit but like back then i mean i still don't really feel that way but back then i was even less Like I felt like they were doing me a favor by hiring me. Like, oh, I got the short end of the... Yeah, you're like, it's okay. You don't want to step on anybody's toes. Yeah, like you treat me like shit, whatever.
Starting point is 00:11:05 And now I've like learned that I'm like, you know what? Actually what I do is great and I serve you. And so, you know. Like maybe you don't bring people like right in front of me when you're trying to fire me. But that was like a bad boss situation. Because there's two kinds of bosses. Bosses that lead with intimidation and bosses that lead with like rah-rah. By example, yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:23 do you know what bums me out is like in any business in any industry the only time that i in this one in particular for me the only time i felt empowered enough to stand up for myself or like say no to something is when i felt financially stable enough totally so it actually makes me so sad to think that majority of women out there do not have the ability to be like go yourself when someone pulls shit like well the majority of people yeah like so many people are just but i do think men are have less fear they definitely do because they're not nurturers or providers in the way that we are yeah but still it happens to everybody and the fact where it's just like you're gonna let people like walk all over you just to save your job makes me pissed
Starting point is 00:12:06 off when i when people are like kylie jenner self-made oh my god literally nothing to lose okay she's a billionaire great call her a billionaire self-made is the biggest load of should have ever heard in my entire life for nothing chris jenner is not even self-made like when you come from i mean rob kardashian oh you mean was a huge lawyer yeah like that's just i mean i guess self-made to me is like if when you fail you have to go be a barista at starbucks not that baristas aren't great because my friend chloe from trite love at arms remember she used to work for trite love at arms now she's like a master oh yes which is like a cool job like actually after you're a barista you can like be a master mixer anyway not that
Starting point is 00:12:47 breeze is a bad job but like you can go and like that's your next choice unless you don't have to get a survival job like right a survival job like a waitress go go dance like whatever that job is when kylie started lip kit she and this is no like hate on her because the lip kit's amazing it's great it's great if she when you have something like like your livelihood riding on something it's actually way harder to succeed at it sometimes like because there's fear and also just starting a business in general is really hard. And if you don't have the guidance from somebody else telling you what to do, 90% of businesses fail in the first year. So it is very stressful to do. And it's not self-made. It's just an interesting word, which is why when I made you
Starting point is 00:13:31 the cake today, I mean, I didn't make it, but when I had the assistant pick up the cake, emily um i felt so proud because we are self-made yeah the podcast is self-made the podcast is self-made however we all were very fortunate to have our own jobs that we did you guys have to be dressed and we have to go downstairs to do promos right now yeah okay hold on can you tell them in five minutes no okay i've already given them five minutes oh you did why'd you guys change You're such idiots. Well, I changed because Kelsey changed. I just, like, hate wearing a bra, you know?
Starting point is 00:14:08 Okay, after this break, we'll be back. We have to go do TV. I just took my Instagram photo of my outfit this week. Oh, so she was taking an outfit photo. And I can't breathe. Am I that out of shape? Coming up the stairs in a heel has been aggressive. Oh, yeah, I can't come up a whole flight of stairs without being out of breath.
Starting point is 00:14:29 It's treacherous. You're fine. but we were waiting up here for a good five to 10 minutes wondering what you're doing and guessing that you're taking it i know and then it was so funny because christina was like really focused on my outfit pic and then um clayton's like did you see that text that just came through kelty come upstairs and then i was like christina's like oh i didn't even see it because she's like so focused on her pictures you know that's you know a girl about her craft are those new shoes they're cute these are the gucci ones that chris gave me they have the bow they look very
Starting point is 00:14:59 uncomfortable no they're actually like the most comfortable high heel i've ever owned they clip on and off the bow the bow is like on uh like a scrunchie i feel a little sick in my stomach i think i drank too much today i just like i'm not built to drink every week how do you drink every week every week you gotta keep doing it though because you do a shitty show when you're sober yeah and by shitty i mean you're just too serious but i i just i'm focused i know i'm just trying to be drunk can we talk a little bit more about the the allegedly of this week yeah the thing that drives me the most crazy about hollywood is like all the secret shit that's going on that you don't know about like i feel like i've pulled the cover a lot of hollywood like people calling
Starting point is 00:15:49 the paparazzi on themselves like how you get i heard recently like a big star their show is ending this year and they wanted to do like a magazine wanted to do a big wrap up on like that show ending and the star of the show was like i'll only do it if you put me on the cover of the magazine that's like it's like how it works it's just like all there's so much negotiating that goes down that like that's how you get shit done yeah and so it's like it's like billions or else you'll just be paid like a hundred dollars to star for a tv show yeah but then i feel so mad at people who break the rules and like bribe
Starting point is 00:16:24 their kids in the college. I feel like more people break the rules than follow the rules. Especially in like Hollywood. In Hollywood. Like in places where there is such like a power hierarchy, that's where people are breaking the most rules. I think it's also just wealth in general. Money. And also
Starting point is 00:16:40 fame. That's not like that's not in LA. I mean this shit happens all over the place. If parents are wealthy right they get their kids in by buying buildings at universities right you know what i mean like making a private donation and then all of a sudden they're like right also celebrities get this like entitlement because you get treated like you're special than anybody else well it's like the yes man like yeah bang too yeah and then they can't handle it when something's out of their control
Starting point is 00:17:07 so they find loopholes also i'm gonna say this i know we have an international listenership like i don't really understand the obsession with college and university that the united states has well like it really and i understand like if you don't have that kind of degree like you can't get ahead in the states but like in any other country in the world like where i grew up i would say maybe 15 of the people went to university like people went to trade school and they learned how to be welders and electricians because that's like the jobs that are available and so if you were a guy that took shop growing up in school they don't like force you to go get an arts degree at college like you just go and learn well that's because like americans have like created such a
Starting point is 00:17:51 crazy it's insane yeah it's like well and let's not forget the fact that these people that are paying their way for their kids to get into college aren't going to use their college degree probably anyway to get a job like they're they're not the person that needs to get a college degree to get a good job to be paid well like they're getting money from their parents for the rest of their lives right bullshit there's kids in lower income houses whose parents are not connected at all busting their ass so that they can get into a good university and then go into major life but then go into major debt from it like it's just like the college system's fucked up and the fact that like it's being completely exploited like that is like so infuriating it breaks my heart
Starting point is 00:18:32 when i see on the lady gang gets out of debt like group like how many of our girls are like student loans. I, my student loans are killing. My student loans are killing me. And I'm like, it's just awful. And you thought that was going to like change your life and think you just end up paying it off like a mortgage for the rest of your life. I was at a dinner with a girl who does high risk OB. So she's basically just dealing with, you know, women who have like high risk pregnancies and she does really well. And her husband's like an anesthesiologist or something. And she's like, Oh, we're in like almost half a million dollars in debt. Cause they didn't come from wealthy families. So it's like, they both really, really wanted to be doctors and they're
Starting point is 00:19:06 doing like really great things but yet they owe loans are so stupid it's crazy it's so sad i actually like that was did you take student loans i was gonna say that's the one thing that i didn't even realize like how lucky i was and then it's no you're well you're going at 17 years old now you're signing away your life for like two hundred thousand dollars yeah and you don't even realize the impact of that and how much how long you're gonna be paying it off for yeah did you have student loans yeah did you pay them off i'm still you're still paying them off we better have lady gang be successful i want you to get those paid off girl yeah sucks like how does that work do they charge you interest on it yeah you i don't know exactly how much interest i'm paying
Starting point is 00:19:49 on it but you do sound like student loans is pretty low oh yeah it ain't fun so glad i didn't go to college yeah i mean i didn't even realize how lucky i was when my parents did it but that's why my parents didn't send me to some academic university i would piss it away and fail out so they like if you're serious about performing arts like we'll pay for you to go to this school but you better have a career in the performing arts like don't mess around yeah if i dropped in new york which i totally did but i still like worked my ass off they would have probably murdered me yeah so much money to pay for your kid to like live in you know a big city and like okay last thing before we go if you weren't in the lady gang and doing the job that you're doing now
Starting point is 00:20:35 what would they have talked about this i'm jack right now totally jack wait what what would you study like yeah what would you study in school and not so much what would you do but like if you could go back to school right now oh and take it in 30s and realize like you maybe didn't have the same passion at 18 that you had and it's free are we talking about um what would we study to get a job and later or what would we study just for the joy of studying i well mine i mean i'm always interested in arts i'd probably take studio arts or i'd take like art history not forensic science oh i'd take forensic science yeah thanks yeah you oh my god yeah for sure i would definitely study to be a vet i think that if i wasn't i'm so grossed out by animals see i love it see but
Starting point is 00:21:21 do you want to put dogs to sleep i don't want to put dogs to sleep but like but that's what yesterday i was giving callie a bath and she had some poop stuck and like the hairs around her butthole and it's called a dingleberry a dingleberry i had no problem cleaning it oh i was like snip snip like i could i could do anything for a pet a bunny a rabbit like bunny anything A hamster. I would not do reptiles. Anything squishy can come to my veterinarian school. I'm pretty sure that's like a specialized type of vet anyway. Yeah. I'm a squishy vet. Like a mammal.
Starting point is 00:21:52 Like a mammal vet. Like I would do horses. Yeah, domestic. But there's probably a different horse vet. There are. There's special large animal vets. I'd be a medium to small breed animal vet. Guys, I recently had to take Orly to the vet at like 10 o'clock at night because, fun fact, not fun at all, you cannot give dogs grapes yeah like it's poisonous to eat they could have half a grape and drop dead yeah they don't know how like they're like some dogs can be fine some dogs
Starting point is 00:22:21 can go into complete can they have a failure how'd she get it over grapes yeah can they eat other other fruits no i think avocado no no apples either the apple seed is poisonous to a dog and you can't give them onions like no onions well onions um what was the other thing anyways So why did she get a grape? It fell on the floor and she went for it. Wait, that's so scary. Terrifying. Because you wouldn't think that a grape.
Starting point is 00:22:45 And then I'm like Googling. She did get her little baby stomach pumped. I had to take her to the vet and they basically just give her, they give like a medication that makes them so nauseous that they throw up. And I'm like, poor little Orly. But the vet was so nice. Shout out to the vet on Santa Monica. What would your job be?
Starting point is 00:23:03 Isn't it great to give him a shout out, but you don't know what it is. It's like VCA vet hospital in LA. What? what would your um what would you study nothing i hate studying i hate learning when people talk about like i just love learning like i don't know what that feels like i just feel like i i don't love learning i like learning about very specific things there's about three things i can think of that i would want to learn more about what are they study one of those in college i already studied them like i studied like theater and i would read a lot of plays
Starting point is 00:23:36 I really enjoyed reading plays and, like, that's it. Like, I found the one thing that interested me. Thank God you have one thing. And thank God you're successful at it. Exactly. I mean, I'd be so – I'd be, like – I don't even know where I'd be. Real estate. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:51 Real estate? Real estate. You would sell the shit out of a house. I can't sell anything. I'm not good at being pushy. I feel like you could. Uh-uh. I feel like you'd be a – I can see it now.
Starting point is 00:24:02 I can see it now. I can see the outfit you'd wear. People would just want to be at your table and think whatever you think is cool is cool. And they'd be like, I'll buy the house because Becca liked it. I feel like this is how I see you. I see you in a teal, like, pencil knee skirt with, like, a teal, like, a matching blazer. Great. This is in my head in, like, a white modern house selling it for, like, $4 million.
Starting point is 00:24:23 Boom. I should be doing that. I'm going to go get a job at the agency real quick. Yeah, I'll get it. Okay, on that note, we got to go because we have to go down and finish making our television show. Thank you for checking in with us, you guys. And we are so happy that you're here. Thank you for listening.
Starting point is 00:24:37 I love podcasting. I love podcasting. It's so fun. It's like the best. Our live shows are selling fast. Like hotcakes and other f***ers. I'm Chicago. Too bad.
Starting point is 00:24:47 You can't go anymore. DC, sold out. Bye. And everything else is getting pretty close. Everything is like at least 70, 80% sold. So buy your damn tickets. I feel like I'm going to like go streaking in these cities because I'm just so excited to go to like do live events.
Starting point is 00:25:02 We were so scared that we weren't going to sell, like, 50 tickets. No, we sold them. So go get them. And we will not hear for a long time. But we're here for a good time. Bye. That escalated quickly. Hey, guys.
