Here's Kelty Knight, Becca Tobin, and Jack Vanek. Let's make this quick.
Starting point is 00:01:11 Hello, hello, hello. Welcome to Lady Gang Quickie. I am Becca here with Jack and Kelty. Hello. Hi there. How's it going? It's time for us to fight. Uh-oh. Oh, God. This episode of Lady Gang is called Hot Girl Bummer. There is a thing happening in the world where there's all these things that girlies love.
Starting point is 00:01:35 I don't love all the things that the girlies love. And I want to know if we think these things are overrated, hot girl bummer, or hot girl summer, basically. I'm going to start with Espresso Martinis. heartburn espresso heartburn shaky hands can't sleep not even that delicious would rather just have a creamy latte hot girl the alcohol is the difference between a latte and a espresso martini yeah you love it i i really like it you don't think it's over overrated no way because if i'm going out at night, a dinner or something or whatever, and I'm really tired and I need to do something to get me, you know, to give me some energy, but also I want to imbibe in the libations
Starting point is 00:02:27 and like head into a nice fun night. Usually the key to that is the combination of espresso and alcohol. I love them. I think they're fantastic. It's just like a fancy vodka Red Bull, even though Jared still drinks vodka Red Bulls when he plays shows, which is mind-blowing to me. It's like literally one little smell of that and I want to throw up. So yeah, I love an espresso martini. I think it's such a fun brunch drink.
Starting point is 00:02:57 It's delicious. Can't even taste the alcohol. You can also make them with tequila because you know tequila is an upper as opposed to other alcohol sources. so you're not doing like downer vodka upper espresso you're doing an upper tequila upper espresso and then you're just off to the races yeah it's basically just like taking an adult okay um lip plumpers that burn i recently got into the uh there's a brand called nyx and they
Starting point is 00:03:29 have this thing called duck plump and they have a lip liner and i got it sent to me in a pr kit and I took it to work and they used it on me and I'm not even kidding you. I woke up at two in the morning, had washed my face. The lips were still burning. Oh, I thought you were going to say it spread onto your face. No, it is like, what is in there? I think it's chili. Like a chili? Like chili, like from like chilies. Pepper? Yeah. Wow. It's not doing, for the amount of pain that I'm in, it's not doing enough. Okay. We can just overdraw the lip. No, it's like a thin lipped girly where lip filler really doesn't work on me. And it makes my lips way too ducky. And now I'll put my lip filler on. I love it. It's like the only, I use the Too Faced
Starting point is 00:04:21 lip plumper extreme. I think it is. Extreme? Yeah. And I, I'm like my lips, it's the only time my lips look good like a little liner a little little bit of that and it's like i i think it's great this is my in between i'm an in-betweener because i don't really like the classic burn lip gloss situation but this brand ourself sent me they have a lip gloss and they have this thing it's called lip filler so it's kind of cool because it's not really a gloss it's more it looks more like kind of a lotion and you put it on and what i like about it it's not the classic tingle, but it does make you aware of your lips, but it also gives it a, like a reddish color, like a, like a, yeah. So it brings like the, yes. Pigment. Yeah. I'm into it. I'm into it.
Starting point is 00:05:09 I love the burn. Chakootery boards. Literally just $100 Lunchables. I have a bone to pick with the charcuterie. I think we are really lowering the vibe on what constitutes a charcuterie these days. Well, charcuterie is supposed to, I mean, it's technically just meat. Is it? Yeah. Excuse me? I think. Isn't it? I thought it was meat and cheese. I think the meat. I think it's whatever. The problem I'm having is that everyone's like, bring a charcuterie. And I'm like, great. $400 later. It's the most expensive. Not from Trader Joe's. You can get a real good charcuterie from Trader Joe's. Pre-made? Not pre-made. No, but just like all the ingredients. I'm not, yeah. Oh, you don't want to put it together. What about ordering it at a restaurant?
Starting point is 00:06:09 Then they give you three, even on Delta, my beloved Delta. I'm like, I'll have the cheese plate. No, I know. The charcuterie gives you like three pieces of a cheese you'd actually want, five pieces of a stinky cheese nobody wants. Yes, I do. Walnuts, dry. What am I doing with those? You know what I mean? Some pistachios, no thanks. What? And then not enough crackers. Pistachios and charcuterie. Your pronunciation today is on fuego. Pistachio. But like they're not giving me enough of what I want. And you're right. of anything delicious. It's just a bunch of crumb shit. And then, yeah, I could make my own charcuterie from Trader Joe's and then it's just cheeses. So like why a salami? Oh,
Starting point is 00:06:57 you don't eat. I don't want the salami. I just some dried apricots or some olives. I want a grilled cheese sandwich. I want to, well, you just don't like charcuterie. Here's the here's why you're not understanding you think charcuterie is a meal kelty charcuterie is a if you're hosting people at your house and you don't want to have to pop like you know pigs in a blanket in your oven for people to snack on before dinner no one's popping pigs in a blanket that's actually we do it all the time jared it's jared makes them with the pillsbury dough boy crescent rolls and mini hot dogs and it is unbelievable. Divine. Underrated appetizer. You're bringing people into your home and offering them a pig in a blanket. They have great ones at Whole Foods.
Starting point is 00:07:42 And you can do a Halloween little pigs in a blanket and put little eyeballs on it and then they're little zombies, not zombies, mummies. There's many ways to do it. Wow. It is the snack that keeps on giving. Yeah. I think it's lovely if I walk into somebody's house and there's a charcuterie because I really like to just sort of like reach over. Cause then you don't have to like put a plate together and do a dip. Like I hate a dip at a party. And I know this is controversial, but I don't want to have to go over and either do a communal like dip. I think that's weird. If you look at somebody and they're like dipping a, you know, a bread and artichoke dip, you're like, get a plate you savage. If I want to dip my penis in you, don't dip your
Starting point is 00:08:24 carrot stick in my ranch. Right. Well, there is a Seinfeld episode about that. Exactly. And then And I don't want to be like, here, let me get my little plate together and put enough dip and the right ratio of dip to chip. And like, I don't love it. Listen, I think it's delicious. Super Bowl parties have a lot of dips. But I think a charcuterie is nice. It's like low maintenance for everybody.
Starting point is 00:08:43 I literally love everything about it. No notes. Sunday brunch. Yes. I understand what you're saying. I recently went to... Kelsey, you like... These are all things that are fun and you just hate them all.
Starting point is 00:08:58 No. I want us to be better as humans. Okay. What? So everyone's like, let's get brunch. Let's get brunch. We should go to brunch. It's midday. You want people to work? No. I don't want you to work, but something at 1 p.m. f**ks up my whole day. The whole morning, I'm waiting for the event, and then I'm getting home at 3 p.m. That's too late for me to begin my Sunday scaries. I would like a breakfast. And here's what I hate about brunch is that they're always trying to sell you it as a package. I went to a brunch this past weekend with my husband and they were like, you can order a la carte or have the brunch. And then you walk by the secret room and you're like, oh, what's in there? And they're like, you can go check it out first.
Starting point is 00:09:46 I'm like, well, Marge, I'm not going to go check out the brunch like a psycho to see if I'm getting my money is worth room where were you like a buffet like a buffet you know the brunch and so then it's like 49 for the brunch and the list of the things on the brunch is like cinnamon rolls waffles eggs fruit and you're like oh i want to have one little bite of each one of those things but isn't that the that's the whole thing about the buffet is you can have a little bite of everything no exactly that's what you love about it but then over here i could have had an avocado with an egg for $12. Do you know what I mean? So I think the brunch is with buffets, not brunches. I think you're right. I pick the brunch buffet because they don't do brunch. It's not dinner
Starting point is 00:10:37 brunch. It's not buffet dinner. Yeah, but most brunches aren't buffets. I would beg to differ. I think a lot of hotel brunches and breakfasts can be buffets. The Soho House does a Sunday brunch with a lot of buffets. Then I went to the buffet and everything – the cinnamon roll was cold. The inner parts was not warm like a Cinnabon. The fruit was delicious. Then there was like some eggs, fine. I got about $4 worth of food.
Starting point is 00:11:08 That was on you. A free spritzer of lemonade in a very small glass. like a thimble of lemonade for my $49. It's just, they just, I hate brunch. I have, I struggle with doing anything super social on a Sunday because I do get the Sunday scaries and it just makes it worse if I'm not home, like gearing up for the week to come. And the thing that's so crazy is like, now that I'm a mom, Monday morning after a crazy weekend with my kid, Monday morning is a beautiful walk in the park, you know, I mean, yeah, it's kind of like a weekend, but, but I, if I'm working that day, it's like still kind of considered a work
Starting point is 00:11:56 day and it is a Monday. So it doesn't even matter what my week entails. I could have nothing to do on Monday. I still don't like the idea of Monday coming. I agree. I don't love a Sunday brunch. I love a Saturday brunch. Yeah, that's great. I think that there is nothing better. It just feels like the world is open and free. I love drinking during the day. Like brunch is my time to shine.
Starting point is 00:12:18 Do you not feel guilty for the server that you're taking up their table for like three hours? That's literally their job. And when I'm there, I mean, we are drinking. So I spend an exorbitant amount of money when I am having brunch. So it's definitely not just like lounging around at a coffee shop not spending any money. okay sorry no that's fine i love it hey ontario come on down to bet mgm casino and see what our newest exclusive the price is right fortune pick has to offer don't miss out play exciting casino games based on the iconic game show only at bet mgm check out how we've reimagined three of the

Starting point is 00:13:33 Bet MGM operates pursuant to an operating agreement with iGaming Ontario. The Lady Gang. Um, celery juice. It does the job, I think. I don't mind the taste of it. Did you do the celery juice every day thing? No. Who did?
Starting point is 00:13:50 Well, I think it originated with the biggest quack on planet Earth, the medical medium guy. Right. Who, like, goes around telling people, this guy who calls himself the medical medium, and he does he has zero zero qualifications he's like a psychic and he is like got so famous I think it was like honestly I think it was Gwyneth Paltrow that shed light on him as she has Gwyneth yeah um she has some hits and some misses you know and he was a miss and he go he's the originator or or I think that's the first time I heard of it he you can heal everything in your body with starting it with celery juice so anything that came out of his mouth I'm opposed I'm in opposition of
Starting point is 00:14:28 yeah so um yeah i'm gonna say no i mean if i go get it at a juice place every once in a while i think it's fine are you talking about the health benefits or the taste i'm just i'm talking about anyone drinking it for hot girl summer when people are like oh my god celery juice every day it's changed my life i was like if anything could really change our lives like we would all be doing it nothing has changed my life also do you have a juicer i don't even have one but it's so messy you guys and it's expensive by the time you buy all this shit to juice it it costs just as much as going to the store yeah no thanks I just I'm never gonna be that kind of woman that's like good at making my own juice or going to a 6 a.m workout like there's this really cute makeup
Starting point is 00:15:17 artist Marissa who I'm friends with here in LA and she's always like I see her in the morning and she's like early morning sweat. And like, it's her, she's so inspirational and I love following her. Like it's, I don't feel weird about it. I'm not like, you bitch, why are you working out at 6am? But like, she likes her day is she goes, she does something for herself and then she takes care of people all day, you know? Yeah. And I'm just like, I would, there's nothing in my constitution that would make me go to a 6am workout class. See, I used to, and I still could because if I'm not going to do it first thing in the morning, I'm not going to do it. And I'm such an early riser anyways, but it's been a long time. Yeah. Yeah. It's hard. It's hard out there.
Starting point is 00:16:05 Okay. One thing that is very big this summer is the tiny purse. It's been big. I just – I want to say this. Like, Revolve, you f***ed us, okay? Why? because they every summer revolve gets in a room of like 20 people in a conference room and they say what is going to be the it bag this summer and they may they have them they have the tiny bags and they're all on the conference table and they're like natalie try this one and natalie picks up the bag and she's like does it fit a phone no it's perfect and then they'll be like oh, if you have it over your hand, can you open the flap at the same time? No. So you have to literally hold it like a small child to open the flap to get out your car keys. It's perfect.
Starting point is 00:17:01 Is it made of a material that will look beautiful on the internet and when it first arrives in your hands that you must keep it and then within three days be slimy, gross, rhinestones falling off? like revolved to sides you know that cult you sound like you're talking about a very specific experience no no a few years ago you remember that cult gaia bag it was made of yeah wood and it was in the shape of a half seashell yes yeah this made no sense i can't put anything in this bag you can see what's in here there's no hiding anything and then and then it was the tiny Jack moose, the little tiny Jack moose that only fit a vial of cocaine. That's it. And then you have your other shit. Can we just literally old Navy just sent me the biggest white tote bag I've
Starting point is 00:17:55 ever seen in my life purse thing. Can we just, that is the new going out purse is like an old Navy tote. Okay. Or the LL bean bags. Yeah. I am not interested if it can't fit a full 24 inch laptop and a second pair of shoes. Revolve, don't do this. I'm mad. See, I'm a mini bag person. I've just- Because you have no responsibilities. You're never the person- I have so many responsibilities. You're not the person that has the antibacterial wipe on the plane, Jack. That's me and I need a bigger bag. You have a lot of responsibilities, but you're not putting them in your bag. The mini bag is not meant to be taken to work. The mini bag is meant to be taken to like a bar, which, you know, I, I, I tend to agree. Like I, I have made the mistake of buying small
Starting point is 00:18:50 bags. Like I bought the little Balenciaga, like really, you know, top handle. And in theory it was great and it's was chic, but, but like I had to really parse out what I wanted to bring with me. And then the rest had to go in Zach's pockets. So that's not really the purpose of a bag. So I agree. I think we need something slightly bigger. I have this little Prada like pouch thing. That's like as big as this microphone. And I have everything that I need is in that pouch. So as long as I can fit that pouch and your sunglasses into a bag, that is the perfect size bag. And a phone. I never put my phone in my bag. That is so weird. That's so annoying to me. Really?
Starting point is 00:19:33 Well, now you're carrying two things. So ridiculous. Well, I have it on my chain. The thing about the tiny bags is that I don't have time to unpack and pack my life. I'm like Jack where it needs to be in a pouch. Yeah. And it needs – this tiny pouch needs to – the pouch needs to go around to whatever bag I'm in. I need a pouch.
Starting point is 00:19:53 Yeah, you do because it helps a lot. Okay. But the problem is – Then you don't have to leave anything behind. Yeah. I'm actually on my next craft. I'm not supposed to talk about this on the podcast because I do hobbies, just hobbies, not for, not for showing off.
Starting point is 00:20:05 Oh, right. This is my next, um, I'm going to cross stitch this. It's a little pouch. Oh, cute. It's like a little flower. Oh, that's cute. Cosmetic case. I want to see what else I made before we go.
Starting point is 00:20:16 Sure. I'm sure the listener can't wait to see it either. Oh, she knitted a blanket. Oh, she knitted a blanket. Oh, that's so good. This is a chair cover. Oh, I didn't know that was even a thing. Tiny.
Starting point is 00:20:28 It's a small blanket. I used to have a faux fur on this chair and it got really dirty. So now I have this blanket. I made this. I didn't know you knew how to knit. Very cute. It looks like what your mom made for it when he was born. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:41 Yeah. So sweet. That's very cute. Anyway, on that note. Good job, Kelty. Summer, you're a bummer. No brunch. No cucumber.
Starting point is 00:20:48 I'll have espresso martini, a charcuterie board on a Sunday brunch kind of day in my mini purse. Wow. That literally sounds like my dream. It really does. I'm like, actually, that's Jack. Okay. We weren't here for a long time.
Starting point is 00:21:00 We're here for a good time. Social support from Kali Correra. Editing from Jared Monaco. Producing from Steve Delameter. And iconic hosting, creating, and being the gang gang of all gangs by Becca Tobin, Jack Vanek, and Kelty Knight. Kelty Knight support by Derek Haley.
