Hey guys, the following podcast is a Lady Gang Network and Podcast One production, which
means it's going to be awesome.
It's time for a quickie.
Podcast One presents the Lady Gang, the Hollywood girl posse, with Lady Gang Quickie.
Here's Kelty Knight, Becca Tobin, and Jack Vanek.
Let's make this quick.
Hello, hello, hello, and welcome to the Lady Gang Quickie.
I am Becky here with Jack and Kelty.
Hello.
Is that a jumpsuit?
kelty another one yeah man i like it cute this is my first jumpsuit the first one you've ever
bought in your life this is an old jumpsuit it's old it was from when nasty gal was a place that
you shopped it doesn't exist anymore does it does it does exist but everything's made out of like
cardboard boohoo bought it you know that oh yeah so now their clothes are all like ten dollars oh
cool okay well we're back to our regular quickies and i shall begin this episode with an inspirational
quotation so you're you're back to doing the every other post is an inspiration i meant to
ask about that on instagram yes but that's my best self is that what does well on instagram
good engagement yeah i get really good engagement and people repost it and like so people like your
words better than your face a hundred percent they're not her words i'm basically uh
i'm a meme account at this point they're not memes they're they're like inspirational quotes
aren't memes no these sometimes are tweets memes are funny you're a dick well you're not meaning
for him to be funny sometimes oh okay here we go this is by an artist named alpha a poet
i know my worth i've paid dearly for every ounce of it
you so inspirational. No, sure. It's okay. Um, I recently saw a healer. Great. Who told me that
is this the same healer? Yeah. Okay. The one I've been referring to every day. Yes. Did you get a
free healing? No, it's not free. Um, which is why I'm talking about it so much. I need to get my
money's worth she was saying that i need to work on my self-worth like what i think of myself and
like and so i have to schedule a weekly massage oh because it's like spending money and time on
something i normally would not and i have to prove to myself that i'm worth it once a week that's an
expensive worth i know but it also plays into the fact that i'm always thinking that i'm going to
be broke like my whole life I've been worried I'm going to be broke yeah she's like you're
training the universe you're like teaching yourself that it's not scarce and that you're
going to be fine and so spending the money is scary but it's also like a way of encouraging
money and you'll have to like work enough to be able to afford the massages well I mean work is
never the issue for me it's like is there a place for me to work like as an actress sure I could
work in my bedroom every day doing monologues but no one's paying me that's right you have a um
you have a paycheck imposter syndrome oh yeah where you hashtag have thought you'd never get
a job oh yeah yeah in our blood yeah but yet you'll be like but listen it's i think it's a
good it's not a good way to live i think it's a good way to live at least you're not like
overspending all of your money being like it'll be fine and then you're in debt or i am really
rational about it like i know like an example would be because of what we do in our business
like you don't know when your next paycheck is you have to live knowing like am i good for a year
if i go a year without making money like i am okay like i'm always good in my life so it's like
the most catastrophic thing in the world i'd have to be robbed my bank account would have to be like
there would have to be so many factors for me to actually be broke knock on wood because the way
that's plywood that's actually plywood great knock on the wall it's right behind you cool okay um
so like rationally i know i'm okay but there is this weird lingering thing of like worst case
scenario worst case scenario like you know and that part of my brain is like you need to go rent
a 600 square foot studio and just live there forever i was i have the same thing and i i think
mine stems from like how my parents were raising me like when i was at the height of my business
i was living in a one-bedroom apartment and sharing the room with a friend of mine when i was
like 20 years old paying like 400 in rent in la which is crazy but i've never kind of left that
mindset where it's like i still am always buying stuff on sale i'm still always yeah it's always
that in your mind but i again i think that's a good mindset to have i think it's good but i also
think there's something about it where it like stunts the money flow that should be coming in
your life because you're scarce and you're holding on for dear life and you're like it's like a
self-fulfilling prophecy if you're always manifesting yeah i just read a book called
happy money oh it's all about like energetically changing your relationship with money i do
recommend it because it does sort of like shift you but anyways that's happy money i'm happy money
it's good it's really good if you're somebody that's always anxious about money like he does
this whole thing about how if you're somebody who's too cheap and too like you know those people
I have people in my life that are so frugal and what's crazy is I watch them and they don't have
a lot of money coming in like it's like they're not frugal because they don't have a lot of money
coming in it's like do you know what I mean this seems crazy I know what you're trying to say yeah
I feel like if they were to loosen up the reins a little bit on the spending, then like
the universe would sort of follow suit and then the flow of money would become a little
more flowing.
That's like what this whole book is about.
If you watch the people in your life that are so cheap, they never have abundance come
in their life.
Interesting.
Kaltia's waiting to actually talk about what we want to talk about on the talk show.
No, no, no.
She's thinking.
Babes.
I'm in the moment
New Kelty is here
I'm really thinking about what Becca said
Because I think for me
I had a similar thing a couple years ago
We were really busy
And I was holding on to my like
New York City 21 year old
Living in a bunk bed
Making $500 a month
And like not affording food
And like help get all that stuff
And I never
Since we're still in show business
I've never kind of grown out of that
But I've been like a super saver
And then when Chris and I were going to therapy
And they're like
hey you can't make Chris become like your super mom or super he's a super husband in some ways
but he's not a homemaker yeah so it's like I thought well no the therapist is going to be
like you should do laundry and that's not what they did they were like anything that you cannot
take on in your life you can't put on him you have to outsource and I was like I I'm not going
to pay for an assistant and someone to help with the house and someone to trim the trees and like
that just seems so ridiculous.
Like I watched my parents do all of those things for our family,
you know?
And like,
but that's what I had to do.
And it really scared me to put that,
invest that money into myself the same way you'd be investing your massages.
But when I did,
it opened up space in my life to do other things and build this company.
So the a hundred dollars I was spending to have someone come and help me with
the house,
like that seems,
it seems so ridiculous,
you know?
And when I say it to other people,
I was like, oh, God, I'm like one of those gross people.
But it really did help my life.
Well, and it opens up the time for you to be focusing in things that will long-term bring you 10 times that amount that you're spending on the set thing.
I did seem like a real dick, though.
This weekend was my nephew's birthday party.
And I went and everyone, you know, there's like the same group of mom friends that my sister-in-law has had since he was born and he's five now.
So it's like I see them at the birthday parties, the recitals, the school thing, whatever.
And I was like visiting with them.
and we're laughing and they're like, oh, well, how are you getting home? And I was like, oh,
I'm just going to call an Uber. And then I said something like, I didn't mean it the way it said,
I said, you know what? My next goal is to become so successful. I can just get a driver.
And like, I really mean that, like, I hate driving and I would really like to have a driver,
but like in the Burbank moms club, they looked at me like, you're a fucking asshole.
Yeah. I know your audience.
Yeah. It was not the right audience. You know what I mean? And I have friends that have drivers. So
I was like, oh, this is not that weird. But then I was like, ooh, I am not like in the right place
to talk about getting a driver yeah it's kind of weird they're like i'm just trying to send my kid
to college but wait i have a question for you yeah because i do something this is not judgmental
because i tend to do this when i'm around a bunch of women with children i feel not inadequate
because like that's not the right word for it but cold hard bitch no but like i feel this like
sense of like a need to show that i have something else going on my life that's beyond
have worth that's not a child because I don't have a child so they're looking at me like what
is her life like what the does she do all day so I think like in that moment I might have said
something like that to sort of be kind of a dick but look how well I'm doing but not that but like
my career is my baby so stop judging me yeah like that weirdness of like having to qualify something
or myself yeah and so I do that a lot I do that a lot when I'm around women who have children
Yeah, I feel that because I feel judged and they might not even be judging me.
Yeah.
I wonder if, cause I feel like that too.
And I wonder if it is a thing or if it's like you're projecting not an insecurity cause
it's not insecurity, but like some kind of a weirdness onto them to in turn make yourself
feel inadequate.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
You're assuming that that's what they think of you.
Right.
Cause I like roll up with the $90 Buzz Lightyear helmet.
Cause I'm like, I only see you three times a year.
I'm going to spoil you.
And they're like, she never comes to anything.
But like, I roll up for an hour and I was like, hey, got to go.
And they're like, where does she have to go?
What is she doing?
What keeps her busy all day?
And I'm like, I just don't want to be around this pee smelling backyard anymore.
I'm like, I did my hour.
I'm out.
Like, I'm going to go home and watch TV.
You're like, my social life is not.
So they probably were judging you.
I don't.
Well, I have.
If you're listening to this, if you're listening and you're a mama bird, do you judge us?
Well, it doesn't help that like with our TV shows, they did like focus groups and like
every woman is like they don't have kids where their kids we can't relate to them yeah that's
hard that made me feel really sad it made me feel really shitty to be honest yeah and because that
you also don't know our lives you don't know that we're not trying you don't know that we've been
shut down you don't know that like the universe has given you something that we want right and
like we're just trying to get by right that's so true and make lemonade out of lemons bitch
right and make a beatless lemon lemonade out of ovaries you know but i but that's not the first
time i've heard that yeah and so it's this like running thing it's like you'll never be people
will never relate to you because you don't have you don't have children and i'm like i think
there's like a group of we see them like in the lady gang there are girls that are like not going
to have a baby or don't at this point or are struggling to have a baby like right well and
there's also i mean people are having babies a lot later in life so there are 30 something year
old women that just will be having kids yet yeah well at some point so it's like as much as i kind
of understand that it's so different than it was back in the day it's not like anybody our age
is 100 going to be a mom and that's the only way that you can relate to somebody do you remember
when jennifer aniston was like i'm not having kids and then everyone was like you're dead inside
what's wrong with you and she was like i can be mothering to my animals to my plants i was like
i can't even keep a plant alive oh my god i can't either me either babies
i don't even anyway all right i'm gonna say like i'm
i'm a pretty good auntie you don't even like your nieces and nephews is that what you were
no that wasn't what i was gonna say what i was gonna say is when i go see my friend's children
i would prefer to birth a toddler yeah yeah babies are hard for me and i feel
Dude, babies freak me out.
They're like, do you want to hold them?
I'm like, no.
I don't want to hold your fucking baby that doesn't have a fully formed skull yet.
What if I drop it?
The amount of infants that I have held, I can count on one hand.
And every single time, I'm worried they're going to stop breathing while I'm holding.
I'm like, if they die in my arms, what the fuck?
I don't know if it's okay or if it's choking.
I would much rather have birth a toddler.
At least they can talk to you.
And they do funny things.
They'd be like, I'm hungry.
And then they say, fuck, and then you try not to laugh.
and yeah it seems like more fun I also think that when I eventually become a mother if and when
I am going to do something that none of my friends with children have afforded me
and that is if I'm like if we're like making time to spend time as friends like yeah I want to see
your kid I definitely want to see the kid for like 15 minutes but if we make a plan like I
don't want to be subjected to your you focusing on your child like if you're going out to lunch
yeah like i don't think it's fun eating with anyone else's kid and like i know you think
that maybe because you're really a close friend of mine i want to spend time with your kid but
like i don't ever i don't and i think that that's okay and i think that people forget with children
that like they're gonna be your favorite people on the planet to be around but nobody else is
It's like a wedding.
It's like your wedding.
I love to see my friends' kids, and I love to see my friends separately.
Same.
Just give us some separate time.
Let us know what kind of event we're going to.
Yeah.
And, like, have your husband maybe take the kid so that you can have, like, a ladies' lunch for two hours.
And I'm sure that the mom would probably want that as well.
Same.
I don't think she wants that asshole around, that child.
Just kidding.
Kidding.
When we come back, more super relatable stuff from The Lady Gang.
the lady gang okay we're back we're back so what's on the list kelty well the thing is is that we are
getting awfully close to the end of the year we already did oh my god it's this is unreal didn't
we already do an end of the year thing no no no we haven't done it in july yeah this year this year
okay that's not what i'm talking about i'm talking about gifts okay like christmas gifts i want to
know what the best gift you got given and what the worst gift you ever got given because some
people begin their christmas shopping in october because if you're in canada you have to have the
presents mailed out by november they won't get there in time i don't know anyone who christmas
shops in a lot of people do i christmas shop on like december 24th that's because you're jack
i don't christmas shop okay well don't christmas i'm a dick yeah i don't believe that adults
deserve christmas presents that is how i feel i don't either always will feel i don't either
I don't think adults deserve birthday presents unless it's from a significant other.
Yeah.
And I don't believe that they deserve Christmas presents.
I am 100% in agreeance.
I think it's fucking weird when people buy each other gifts.
As adults, buy your own gift.
Yeah.
Here.
Your own AirPods.
Here's your, you don't buy me anything.
I don't buy you anything.
Let's buy each other something for ourselves.
Yes.
Like, that's what I want to do.
I haven't bought somebody that's not, I don't even buy significant others presents.
Jack, that's such a lie.
What?
You got me a beautiful gift this year.
that was a gift because it was like a thank you date yeah yeah it wasn't nice i didn't i use it
every day good i love that what did you get her a whole bujo kit with my name on it it says k type
oh my god so beautiful i use it all the time and it smells like eucalyptus that's in my
eucalyptus closet that's a good thing to do you can buy people gifts for as a thank you yeah okay
and i got us the necklaces but that was like as a commemorative thing okay well my question is
corporate like at the holiday season i need to give all of my corporate people a gift i haven't
had a corporate job in my life okay but you did that on glee um merry christmas dp no i didn't
you know what they have that are no the crew's like 300 people nobody expects you because then
you play favorites yeah bullshit wait so what's the best gift you've been given you hate a gift
we just don't want to talk about this is the show over like i don't believe i'll tell you the best
gift i ever well one of the best gifts like a friendship gift that i ever got was you sent me
that beautiful tea after hobo died okay and i have used that as a gift like other people yes
my friend cam just had surgery and everyone i'm sure was sending flowers to his house but i realized
after my surgery how annoying flowers are because then they die and you can't actually pick them up
to move them yeah and they're like smelling like that rotten fish water so i sent cam a beautiful
like tea set with some nice healing teas and like that was such a beautiful gift i'm pretty awesome
You're a great gift giver.
I'm not, actually.
That was a great gift.
That's a good gift.
They have all those companies now where you can, like, go on and be, like, the gift box.
Well, that's what I was going to say.
Or, like, the man crate or whatever.
So those are good for, like, corporate gifts.
Well, what do you get, Jerry?
I'm very, like, big on making gifts.
Yeah, she's so crafty.
I don't think everyone wants a craft.
Does he want a craft?
They're not bullshit crafts.
They're nice.
It's not a scarf she, like, knit.
i like for christmas i did like a line drawing of both of us and put it in a very nice frame
like the ones i have in my apartment cute um and then i did hit when i was talking about this
you're like oh but i got this really cool glass globe nice like fixture and then i filled it with
like 100 reasons why i liked it liked him loved him whoa i don't need that but they're in like
cute little rolled up thing but he loves it he's a super freaking sap like he's the biggest cheese
Zach weirdly loves when I write him a, like, note.
No, because he loves when you express your love for him.
Yeah, but he doesn't express shit to me.
Oh.
So, the other day we had to have a talk.
Because we went to dinner.
But he's bad at communicating his feelings.
Yeah, we went to dinner with Nick and Joanna, our couple friends, who've been married for, like, ten years.
Together for, like, ten years.
And Joanna and I both agreed that, like, it's, like, a universal difference that somehow men have not wrapped their goddamn mind around.
is the fact that like if you want to have sex with us you're gonna need to like lay some groundwork
before your penis is hard yeah yeah like zach will literally be like hey you want to get in the
shower and have some sex and i'm like some sex absolutely not you haven't looked at me all day
you haven't even so much as grazed my arm you you haven't said my name like it's been four days
since you've made eye contact with me and suddenly you have an urge and you think i need to hop in
the shower go yourself literally with your hand so joe joe and i were talking about it we're like
what is so hard just it's like it's like if i have an event coming up and i need to be thin
i'm gonna think five days in advance that each day i need to be laying the groundwork whether
it's exercise and eating right to be ready for that dress that i'm eventually going to want to
put on i know you're going to want to have sex eventually so those days leading up for the day
before just lay a little groundwork do a little workout tell me i look pretty anything pretty is
like give me a hug a hug you know what i need to be i need a more i need a hug no i need a hug
when you're together for a long time you stop hugging you stop hugging i hate that when you're
together for a long time you stop well i don't love touching so much but like even i like touching
when there's like it's like a three second hand hold or a squeeze or a kiss on the forehead i
don't want it to linger i don't want you to spoon me on the couch but i definitely need a hug a hug
that lasts three seconds a handhold just like how are you how was your day or like that's a cute
outfit yeah you look so pretty pretty like um the other day i literally had to pull my shirt over my
head, like literally my full torso, no bra. And I was just like standing there with my shirt over
my head. Cause I've been like working out a lot and I have abs and I was like, will you please
tell me that I have a good body right now? And he's like, Oh my God. Yeah, you are. You're
actually really thin. And I was like, thank you. Is that what it's going to take? You have to yell
at him. Yeah. The other day I got dressed up and I had a dress on and I came out of the closet and
chris goes oh cute and i was like i could live on this for a decade like it was two words like
what cute oh cute and i was like oh my god he loves me have but we're both of your husbands
like always like that because i wonder like will jared get that way because he won't stop giving
me compliments yeah it ends oh yeah zach was like so amazing in the beginning not amazing it was
smothering so like i didn't want that forever and i knew he would cool his jets but like it's cool
now i could fart and he'd be like do it again it smells amazing now i'll fart and he'll be like god
get out of here like it's the craziest difference and and like remember when you loved me yeah i'm
like remember when you thought everything i did was cute all right i'm still in that phase
yeah it should be honestly like at least five or six years oh okay so last a while yeah okay it
should all right well on that note good luck with your relationships everyone tell your husband you
just want to hug i just want to hug let's have a hugging national hug your husband day yeah
yeah have your national hug husband hug you day any guy any guy that's listening in a relationship
go and hug your wife go tell her on her forehead tell her she's pretty and hug her
yeah we'll get laid and don't try to stick your penis inside her right after no give it at least
12 hours.
12 hours, yeah.
I love it.
Okay, bye.
