Starting point is 00:00:00 It's time for a quickie. Podcast one presents the Lady Gang, the Hollywood girl posse with Lady Gang Quickie. Here's Kelty Knight, Becca Tobin, and Jack Vanek. Let's make this quick. Hello, hello, hello. Welcome to Lady Gang. I am Becca here with Jack and Kelty. It's a quickie.
Starting point is 00:00:21 You guys are stripes. I know. We're matching. You're so striped. Accidentally. This is like my favorite shirt that I just got. Well, you look like a mime. That's rude.
Starting point is 00:00:31 Like a shit. Like I like it. Super, super stylish girl is what you meant. Where'd you get your shirt from this brand called the great. Oh, I love the great. Me too. The sweater. It's like a fisherman shirt.
Starting point is 00:00:42 I love it. Yes. Um, take back what you said. You don't look like a mime. You look like a really chic French girl. I'm dare you. I'm very chic. A mime wouldn't be talking.
Starting point is 00:00:54 Look at your heel from your spray tan. No. that's why i was wearing white socks but then i felt like oh see you don't have socks either you gotta hide your feet though yeah so people hide your feet hide your wife so people don't jerk off to them yeah not for free i hope they do ew okay this is a very important episode because um it is officially august and this is the time of the year that i like to look back and see what we've been able to accomplish this year if you're new to lady gang you should know that every year in, in December and January, I have the girls do a manifesting episode where we make our
Starting point is 00:01:28 goals for the year. They hate it. Um, and then we see if they come true. And because I have little to no patients, I usually around this time get a little squirrely and I'm like, well, the year's almost over and let's do our year end. And now it became a joke where in August we do our half yearly review. Yes. Um, I want to tell you that for the first time in my adult life, I haven't really a half year. It's like a, sorry, three quarters. Yeah. Five eights. It's a mid year review. The mid is also the middle. Same. It would be June. It's like a close to end of the year review, but not too close. Not too close. Still two seasons away. Yeah. It's like quarter three review. Is it quarter three? It's quarter three, the end of quarter three. Q3
Starting point is 00:02:12 review. Yeah. We'll call it that. All right. Um, for the first time in my life, I have crossed almost nothing me too normally on this at this part of the show i'm like oh you guys haven't done that yet okay i said i was gonna do this this this this this i have done nothing i'm useless so i hope you all feel seen also becca's were so random that like i don't think you've done any of these either all right let's get ready let's go through it step one for kelty was quit celsius nope even traveling with the tiny travel packs of powder that you couldn't put your water that is i quit coffee which i wasn't trying to do see i quit celsius when i went to japan i'm back on it but i i had to quit it because i didn't even know you had the little
Starting point is 00:02:59 packets did you miss you guys need to just stop well i did i was just drinking coffee i was doing four a day and now i do one it's my morning drink no coffee no anything just why don't you just drink coffee instead of the celsius i don't like this the coffee makes me i don't like it you know you should try which i am trying to is this thing called juno it's just caffeinated water yeah and it tastes told me about last time yeah is it good and has celtic salt yeah it doesn't taste like anything you mean celtic salt is it is it kelty salt i say celtic i don't think it's like i think it's probably celtic it's much better for this probably much better for you than celsius yeah for sure so good though okay becca your first thing speaking of your health advice was to quit
Starting point is 00:03:40 zin i quit them in the sense that i don't just do them all day every day what are you doing them all day every day like three a day it's a cigarette no it's a little packet of nicotine that you just put in your um lip what do you feel when you get the packet well if you are a newbie and you've never had like nicotine before you've never smoked a cigarette you will want to barf. It's a terrible feeling. Okay. But if you have had nicotine and you have a good reaction to it, it's just like a little bit of like, you could pop one in and for 15 minutes, you're really productive because it's a little bit of a pep. A little pep in your step. Yeah. Okay. Um, I now only, uh, use them if I'm having a cocktail or two. Oh, that's good.
Starting point is 00:04:29 Would it be something that I could enjoy instead of a cocktail? I would not be doing that. No. okay no good to know definitely not not not to start in your 40s no it's something that people do that like used to smoke cigarettes but they have done studies on straight nicotine yeah like the sprays and things that it's actually good for your brain in like small doses yeah joe rogan says no dave asprey i tried to start smoking weed like i have a you can have it if you want i got like it's I went to the weed store and I got like a little pen that I can inhale um I just don't think weed is for me in that way no it's not for me it's definitely not for either of you no yeah too much anxiety just dread yes I felt nothing actually and then I felt too scared to
Starting point is 00:05:15 take any more in just don't do that okay should we try it as an experiment no no jack be healthy no more mold or hives how's your mold you know that felt like a weird one because you've really not a lot of control over this no i know how am i supposed to figure it out you're manifesting well yeah i don't know the mold's still in me because it doesn't go away had a long reprieve from it from the hives i think the mold just is there okay it's just gonna be there the hives not with that attitude but yeah i don't know you can't like really get rid of it i mean you can't whatever the hives went away actually that's not true christina had mold poisoning and she got rid of it you have to sauna every day i know i did buy an infrared sauna you did oh it's at my house
Starting point is 00:05:58 but it hasn't been we the whole electricity situation that we have to figure out but it needs to be assembled but i have one i bought one that's great i'm very excited about it because i love your electricity you forgot to pay the bill no they just the house is old as and they didn't have an outlet where we want to put it so now i have to pay like two grand after you just rewired that whole house uh ain't it home ownership it's great but i will be sawing um the hives have coming on and coming on and then when they come i kind of i'm just like this is horrible but they'll go again yeah and then they'll come back radical acceptance it is radical acceptance let them it's like yeah let them let them come and like literally ruin my
Starting point is 00:06:39 life and i have like literal scars to have her on the podcast mel robbins yeah what happened she did like a press store and then probably she skipped over us but she wanted she was gonna come No, she was going to come. I think we just didn't get it in time, and then it was over. That's so sad. And then I wrote that tweet about the f*** them theory, and now she definitely won't come. I think that's a good theory. Where I just go around and seek revenge.
Starting point is 00:07:03 Good for your mental health. Oh, yeah. I did like that a lot. I loved it. Okay. My sole goal manifest was to find a philanthropic board and be of service. I have not been of service at all. i was of service for like three days after the la fires when i volunteered my time and after that
Starting point is 00:07:22 i was like well i'm exhausted i can never be of service again i've done nothing for my soul thank you for coming to my ted talk good for you it is like you need to put your oxygen mask on first oxygen is not even flowing i'm full of zin i get a zin grill and i'm just waiting for some oxygen then i'm gonna have some water yeah i'm gonna have some sleep maybe some of this caffeine water to switch it out i'm gonna switch out to the zune june no you know you know i'm gonna switch it out to juno okay what's next what was mine oh no i think becca soul do more activations oh from the activations app i i've been crushing them you are yeah there's a radical difference because i did do like all of january activations and i felt it i felt so good and then i stopped doing it and it
Starting point is 00:08:10 all went to shit. Yeah. I really like them cause I am not a meditation person. I cannot do it. I will not do it. I feel like I, you can show me every statistic on why I should do it. I won't do it. The activations, you know what, why I like it. It just sort of kicks me into whatever gear I need to get into. It's kind of like a really good song. You know, there's a playlist for like what I want to be happy, but this goes a little bit deeper into the neurological situation like that yep okay i guess i'm doing really well you're doing great so far what was your first one more self-care like reading before bed crushing are you crushing yeah every night i know but then when you put books that you want to read and then i say how'd you like it you said it was terrible
Starting point is 00:08:58 have you read a book that you like oh well the thursday murder club was terrible too soft for you no it's just it's about grandfathers and they certainly no it wasn't it wasn't the content it think of anything worse it was it wasn't the content because i was actually looking for something like that it was like it seemed like it was just like gossipy it was like i don't know i don't know how to explain it very hard to follow so many names everybody just blended in together also i hate a book that just doesn't have like a first person perspective that it stays with like it bounced around characters i like you do yeah i hate it i just read this book i can't remember what it's called but it's reese with conroy does the whole thing with no that that
Starting point is 00:09:37 but that's exceptional right okay okay reese witherspoon just had a new book in her book club that's like four daughters and they each tell their story that's fine oh no i couldn't tell liza and lisa i was lost i was like which one of you gave up the child which one of like it's too much well that's how this book is but it's a bunch of like 80 year old people and like yeah but it's like but they don't like give enough backstory about anybody so i'm like who are these people at the end of the book i'm like i don't even know who this is who anybody is yeah and i'm like why did i read that 700 pages and i was like i don't even know what happened in the end to liza hope she's okay yes what book was this i don't it's like this the best most fun we've ever had or
Starting point is 00:10:16 something like that pass um no i have been reading i have my kindle i have my hatch alarm thingy that i have now and they have these like bedtime sounds so i bring it tonight no okay see i'm getting better i don't have my ipad anymore no curb beck and i are sharing a bed i'm not gonna put curb on what are you gonna do i'm gonna sit and read my book on my kindle and then i'm gonna go to bed how do you like the kindle for bed love it great right i never read in dark mode i turn the lights off what a dream read candle hatch sounds and candle feels dangerous why before bed why is that dangerous you smoke in bed too yes seriously wait why what if you fell asleep because you were so tired reading i've never once accidentally fallen asleep in my life ever
Starting point is 00:11:02 have you ever had a candle explode because i have it's terrifying yeah i know i have accidentally you have watching curb that's not accidentally that's on purpose and it's still very hard i would never fall asleep reading ever i'm not i'm telling you i've never not fallen asleep once not on purpose okay so yeah that is a check good for you i have bad news i don't have my kindle with me i brought a hard book so we're gonna have a light on that's fine really as long as i'll use a book light of course you don't do i have a book light do you plan on reading until like 1am am i wearing stripes okay okay are you mine okay am i a mime uh am i a mime okay create a mine was create a soul family home in mexico not doing that oh no so we put an offer on a house
Starting point is 00:11:51 in Cabo Plumo, which is the other side of Cabo. It's the part where you can, sorry, excuse me. Um, it's the part where you can swim and, um, we did not get it. And it, it's one of those things where, because it was a second home for us, we were like dicks about the offer. You know what I mean? Like, I was like, okay, I wasn't like, I need somewhere to live. I was like, I'm fine. So literally the guy like could have sold us the house, but we were off by like maybe 50 grand like, and he just wouldn't accept to come down. And we were like, well, no, but man's rejection is God's protection. Because now I realize that one of my main problems is that I'm overwhelmed in my own life and I don't need a second home to take care of. That's a lot more work. I think what
Starting point is 00:12:42 Chris and I decided is we're not going to be people who have a second home. We're going to be people that go and rent other people's homes for one week at a time, wreck them, and then don't worry about the plumbing or the siding or the mold or whatever's happening. That's what we're going to be. That's smart. And so, hey, girl, thanks for joining us. Man's rejection is God's protection. Starting point is 00:13:59 The Lady Gang. I am going to, just because I had so many more on my list, I'm going to go to another Kelty. Sell a solo book. i do want to update you that i have created a pitch for my solo book okay um it is we're talking about mel robbins it is called the f**k them theory oh it is called that yeah i think it's a working title it's working well it might be legally do that i have no idea okay but the pitch is all about um revenge it's not revenge it's about like it's about having big feelings and as an adult and not being able to be mature about them, which is me in a nutshell. Like it's about,
Starting point is 00:14:39 I'm doing all the therapy. I'm going to the Oprah masterclass. I'm reading the books and I still like, I know I'm supposed to just take a deep breath and like react in a proper way, but like, I cannot, I can maybe outwardly do that. So it's all the stories about when I hated someone had revenge on someone like did not react the way I should have reacted um telling like some yeah like it's is this a cautionary tale it's like a but some of it is like good too like it's I'm I'm not doing a very good job because it's quite a new pitch so I haven't really refined this yet I'll come back to you when I have like a really I mean I could read you do you care to hear the first sure well what if somebody steals it well then I'll have this podcast as proof when
Starting point is 00:15:28 i take you to court bitch i'll just read you i'll read you one little bit okay um a self about uh a self-help book for people who are done being the bigger person unless your wi-fi has been down since 2022 you've probably heard about mel robbins and her let them theory it's that calm classy ted talky advice about not controlling other people mel says let them be late let them talk about you let them reject you and i say absolutely not because well let them sounds lovely i'm not wired that way i'm kelty knight three-time emmy award-winning host of e-news co-founder of lady gang podcast who has 250 million downloads and counting but who's bragging me i'm bragging married successful and according to some strangers on the internet low-key hot for someone who talks
Starting point is 00:16:07 that fast and you know how i got here revenge spite rage delusion and a not so tiny desire to prove every single person who ever dumped me doubted me or ghosted me and thought i was just a dancer dead round i didn't let them i refused and then it goes into like that's cute i think this is not a book i think this is a tv show oh you always say that i can't we can't sell a tv show i think you could really thank you so much it's in a workshop it does sound like a like the girl's like walking down the street and she's like yeah i just you as a character we've said this for so long so long what if i write it and i'm like tinks and it gets optioned well beck i've already written a 20 page proposal can i try to sell no you should do it i support
Starting point is 00:16:52 you i think it's a great idea i'm just saying i think it would really be a great show because you are the main character but would she play herself i just no i cannot have you seen me on days where i was a little bit confused i was just gonna say and i can't find her name she was on a podcast bitch sesh that i was listening to and it sounds like you guys might have similar uh issues and it's a reactiveness that you can't help yourself yeah and she's in this really deep deep therapy in regards to it and so she has to do this thing where if something happens that she wants to react to it just to pause for 24 hours is so annoying but then she has to do all this processing i know around the reaction and the emotion and do all the things you don't want to do that no i do want to
Starting point is 00:17:39 do it and i know i'm supposed to do it and i can't help myself sometimes well she has a therapist that specifically literally just does this one thing yeah and you have you have to like do homework you have to write things down yeah no i i've been working on this for my whole life so yes but i also meant like back into it in a big way so i'm really trying to just in you know just not it's patience it's like when i wanted to date ryan parker in six when i was 16 years old and i said we should just be boyfriend and girlfriend he's like you're just not patient just be patient and like i'm sure it'll happen but it didn't because it didn't happen on my timeline that's up for a man a man well he just didn't want to date me no it's fine okay back to
Starting point is 00:18:25 you jack becca kill as old as time becca make others drink your kool-aid no i've done the opposite yes i actually and i am not i am not i don't know if i've talked about this yet but but I couldn't be less attached or give less of a about acting. I love this for you. Listen, I had an audition that I was supposed to put on tape Friday. I didn't even respond to the email. Oopsies.
Starting point is 00:18:56 Shut up. Oopsies. Really? I don't care. You know, but isn't it freeing? Yeah, it's a little bit like,
Starting point is 00:19:05 and I'm on Wellbutrin, so I know it's not depression. It's actually quite the opposite. you have the femme theory no there's no revenge she just has a i just i see indifference do you know what it is too have i talked about this already i my brain is fried so please tell me or cut this out i've been having i think when you have been away from something for long enough and kelty i think this is your problem is you live in this world this little like fish tank this aquarium for so long and then you get kicked out of the aquarium and then you have to like set up
Starting point is 00:19:44 this whole life and you have to make your own aquarium right this is such a weird you're in the tide pool we don't need the metaphor for a while no but you're for a while you're like just begging to be let back into the party yeah the party right yeah you're like i want to get back in but then you have to you're forced to create your own party because you're you're like this party. But then what happens the next level is you realize the party you've created is so much better than that other loser party. And it's probably the way that all of the people who weren't popular in high school felt when they were looking at our lame ass parties and then they were having a much better time doing whatever weird things they were doing together. Yeah. But
Starting point is 00:20:24 they didn't realize they were the ones that were the coolest because you didn't let us feel cool. we felt like losers well i mean i guess anyways i just i think then you get perspective that you never had before and so now i see things i still very much appreciate when people are really good at things i think like i just watched sirens right and megan fahey is she was on um white lotus she was so good and she was on bold type like before that she was kind of one of those like teeny bopper whatever that shouldn't have, but she was on Broadway before that. So everyone should have known she was good, but she's really great. She like is really talented. She's going to be around a million years because she's this good. And I really like had very genuine joy watching someone
Starting point is 00:21:13 like that do their thing. But there's just other times where I'm watching people do like a press tour for a movie and I'm like they need to get kicked out of the party for a minute to realize that this everything they're saying isn't charming the people laughing at you are only laughing as they're supposed to be they're like not in on the joke and they're just not in on the joke and now I feel sad for them well and I feel like now when there's like so much transparency and like celebrity like nobody cares about celebrity the way that people did it's like so cringy It's cringy. And I thought if I had never been kicked out of that party, I would be that girl sitting at the press junket being like, I'm so crazy.
Starting point is 00:21:55 I love an Uncrustable. Okay, next on the list is Jack with Have a Tent at Warped Tour. No, it's true. I'm begging what you're raking. You're what? What was that saying? I'm begging what you're raking. Like leaves?
Starting point is 00:22:12 Yeah. She's picking up what you're putting down. yeah such a canadian version of that i'm plowing what is it bagging what you're right i know like is there like a snow one i'm shoveling no because there's no bag involved in shoveling you just shove it anyway so that's my really long-winded way of saying that i actually am drinking my own kool-aid but the kool-aid flavor is different okay jack have a tent at warp tour um that's not happening anymore warp tour no warp tour is happening I pulled out of the tent for mostly because I spent all my money on my house to be honest it's a good answer and a good reason no
Starting point is 00:22:57 honestly it was like it was a financial risk that I wasn't willing to take yet just because it's like the first year that's coming back I didn't know how it was going to go yeah um yeah it's just a lot of money to put into something that I didn't know what the outcome was going to be and I just, with everything going on and I'm so busy this year, I couldn't even remember or I imagine doing it and now I can just go and have fun. Great. Yeah. Love it.
Starting point is 00:23:17 We love this. It was the best choice. She didn't want to work. No, I actually did want to work. I love working work to her. I didn't want to have the stress of like losing money, to be honest. Yeah. No, I hear you.
Starting point is 00:23:29 Um, mine was be a guest in a holiday movie. I do want to tell you that I did take a meeting at your Alma mater. I heard he told me and you sent him a gift. Why? you don't send gifts after meetings wait what happened no he's touched by it but what no never the only gift okay we'll finish what you're saying okay i went to a meeting at hallmark because as you guys know when i talked about it my dream was to like be the coffee shop girl in the hallmark movie like i just want to be six on the call sheet like the mom cameo like a cameo
Starting point is 00:24:00 but more than a cameo yeah you know what i mean like a few lines i'm not above the title but i'm like oh so you're an actual character i'm a character okay but i'm not it was like danny pellegrino was in a movie but he wrote that movie but anyway um i took a meeting i wore like a yellow cardigan i tried to be really hallmarky and then i walked in i looked at the posters like becca's on the wall you know and i was like i don't know how to face for this network anyway they never responded even after he got my gift um i send a gift at every meeting i take so now i'm like devastated what was the gift probably like a lovely candle it was like a bathrobe like from skims or something oh yeah yeah oh that's nice yeah well sorry i guess he didn't love it i've
Starting point is 00:24:40 only no he did he was very excited about the gift because nobody gives gifts he's like it was so nice kelty gave me a gift um and then he was like but i didn't give her a job bitch i sent one gift but it was like somebody i've known for a very long time how do you follow up with them if you don't get a gift and then they say thank you for the gift and then you're like oh my god it was so great meeting you well i don't really have an agent yeah never mind you do too though not that works uh no i do i love you guys okay um becky your last one being more domestic more time with family obviously at your kool-aid party you're being more domestic yeah i'm cooking i just did a hungry root order so great yeah thanks came through you know that commercial no it like
Starting point is 00:25:27 haunts me never seen it's a hungry root commercial that comes on like hulu but it's all just like oh people on instagram stories that's fun okay anyways write a true crime book jack um we're almost done with our proposal and hopefully you're excited about it yeah i'm really excited for us i know and becca doesn't have to write yeah or do anything or do anything okay well so um the other thing is take pottery classes on mine i haven't done that fixed broken friend group kind of started to fix that um and that's the end so uh back end wins this year so far thank you so much you mended the friend group a little bit yeah really yeah that's good see that's the only thing that matters yeah that's good yeah we had uh one of my friends uh mom
Starting point is 00:26:13 passed away and i think it gave us the opportunity to all come together and do a little bit of like mending yeah so I'd like to mend more but everyone has a child under the age of three and if you don't have a child it's it's like you get to choose go to the children's birthday party that's when you get to see them or not see them yeah well then your friends are stupid because I pretty much exclusively see my friends without my child they don't make coffee you all live on the same street and they drive their in like little wagon over to your house you can't have like a dinner an adult dinner I can't have a dinner but some of us are coming from the west side and that It takes three months to plan.
Starting point is 00:26:47 I'm never here anyway. It's basically like a different state. Yeah, you're right. You're right. You're right. We're doing the best we can. It was a great time to be here. I mean, we weren't here for a long time.
Starting point is 00:26:54 We were here for a zinny time. Bye. Zinnies. Social support from Kali Colera. Editing from Jared Monaco. Producing from Steve Delameter. And iconic hosting, creating, and being the gang gang of all gangs by Becca Tobin, Jack Vanek, and Kelty Knight.
Starting point is 00:27:08 Kelty Knight support by Derek Haley.
