Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey guys, the following podcast is a Lady Gang Network and Podcast One production, which means it's going to be awesome. It's time for a quickie. Podcast One presents The Lady Gang, the Hollywood girl posse with Lady Gang Quickie. Here's Kelty Knight, Becca Tobin, and Jack Vanek. Let's make this quick. Hola, hola, hola. Oh, I love that.
Starting point is 00:00:25 Just kidding. I don't know. You guys, it's crazy. What are we doing? it's thursday we should have an episode thursday soon we're gonna take over every day of your lives hi guys you asked we answered yep you wanted a second lady gang of the week here we are we don't know what we're doing we don't know what we're doing but here's what we decided i think that every every thursday is it thursday it's every second thursday every second thursday yes
Starting point is 00:00:51 to start to see if you guys if you guys don't listen to these we're not gonna keep it up yeah So listen, tell your friends. Listen, tell your mom, tell your friends, tell your neighbors, tell your animals. Yeah. Whatever. Okay. So what we're going to do is we're going to open up with a lovely, beautiful mirror message brought to you by-
Starting point is 00:01:07 Every week. Yes. Inspirational quote brought to you by- Not every week. Every other week. Every other week. Keltishka Knight. Wait, let's-
Starting point is 00:01:13 Should we give you some advice? Can we start this by saying that Kelty is now posting an inspirational quote every morning on Instagram? Yes, I am. She wants more. She is. She is. No, and I think it's on brand.
Starting point is 00:01:21 And honestly, I've been losing less followers. I think people are more interested in the quotes than they are me. And that's fine. Okay, great. So what's today's mirror message? Well, I'm going to give you a mirror message, but then should we give a preview of what we're going to do? We'll do it.
Starting point is 00:01:31 Just do the mirror message. Okay, here it is. Okay, so as you guys know, it is the Olympics. Oh, God. I love this one already. The Olympics have just ended, but we have a new RuPaul, essentially. Like a new master of the way the world works and tweets has come into our life in the way of Adam Rippon, who is a figure skater.
Starting point is 00:01:52 and he's fabulous so he tweeted um and i would just like everyone to know that i've already instagrammed this but it said to all of those who tweet at me saying that they hope i fail i have failed many times many times in my life but more importantly i've learned from every setback proudly own up to my mistakes grown from disappointments and now i'm the glamazon bitch ready for the runway love it love it yeah that's your mirror message for the week you little glamazon bitches and now very off brand for me on brand for the lady gang we're gonna go around the table and say one thing we're grateful for that is not on brand for the lady gang right well for kelty um what are you grateful for today okay i'm grateful very much this week i had an experience
Starting point is 00:02:38 with some close friends of mine i'm just waiting for you to say you're grateful for me oh elena stuck her head in front of me i'll use you next week um okay so i had an experience with some close friends of mine and I think that what's hard in life is sometimes I'm not going to go into it too deeply but you don't get a report card for your life like do you remember when you're a kid and you got like a report card about like plays well with others and like I had some friends call me out on some like a little bit of bad behavior and I would have never noticed it on my own because I'm so in my head all the time and I really thought I don't want to be that kind of person so I've made like a real effort and I'm going to really try to change
Starting point is 00:03:17 this flaw but i think it takes someone you got to really love someone and like really care about them in order to be like you know kind of sucks when you do this and like i love you because if you're a dick yeah yeah if you're just like whatever about someone you don't invest in them at all yeah and so i think like good friendships like good strong honest friendships that's a good one for you that's my strong friend all of my friends out there don't take note don't tell me don't everything wrong with me um i'll go so the past year of my life has been interesting and transitional going from thinking my life was going to be one way with a person and then becoming single again and having to kind of figure that out and a lot of the last year i think that i
Starting point is 00:03:59 had been not searching but i really just wanted to love somebody so much so i got really down on myself and like things wouldn't turn out my way when it came to men and i'm grateful for i don't know what it was or what switch like flipped in my mind but over the past I guess since like the beginning of the year I've been in this mindset where I I don't rely on that like whatsoever and I've always kind of like been in the mix of like wanting to date guys for some sort of validation and like just needing that attention and it's like for the first time in my life I don't feel that need like whatsoever anymore I'm kind of disgusted by everybody that's trying to text me right now and on dating apps and all that and I'm grateful for the freedom of being a single woman
Starting point is 00:04:40 because I can up and leave and go on trips and do whatever the fuck I want and not have to answer to anybody. And I like it. And I'm going to do it until I find somebody that is... This is when you're going to find the person, though. It is. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:49 But it's weird because I've never felt like this. When you get to that point, that's when you find... Yeah, that's true. Good for you. And then, sister, well, I was going to say something really, like, shallow, but it's changed my mind. Okay, by the way,
Starting point is 00:04:57 we cannot have these deep, grateful things every time because I can't think of stuff like that usually. So should I bring us back around? Yeah, bring us back around. Okay, I'm very grateful for marijuana being legal in California. I was going to say something about weed. Okay.
Starting point is 00:05:09 Well, I've been having crippling anxiety for other reasons that maybe I will or will not dive into ever in my whole life. But I've had anxiety and I've never been somebody who has trouble falling asleep until now. So I went to the weed store with Zach because it's legal in California. Med men. Shout out. Shout out. Sponsor us.
Starting point is 00:05:29 And I got this sensible little pen that I can just take one little puff puff and it it really does calm me the down and it makes me fall asleep and stay asleep weed has like completely changed my life me too for sleeping and by the way if anybody in california needs a weed pen to sleep the humboldt pen did you get the humboldt pen or no but i know which one it is it's similar the one that looks like a little tampon they all have like different arouse or excite or sleep or calm and it's like specifically for certain things yeah because like i'm sure you're the same with weed it's like you think about it and like you it gives you anxiety thinking about yeah no it's great well i've been doing the weed cream on my bad arthritic feet
Starting point is 00:06:08 makes me sound very old from the thing yeah no no i had i got it like another thing given to me but um yeah it really does help because i've like really like the cb cream yeah and like then i'm started having weird dreams and i'm like am i high and i'm like i'm not high i'm just having weird dreams i think it's just that point in my life i don't think cbd doesn't do anything psychoactive okay so what's happening when we come back when we come back we will begin our bi-weekly rachel for our quickies of letting you know what is inside we're playing a game what's in our box what's in the box don't shake it too hard what's in the lady gang box what's in the box okay so a while ago we had our lovely intern jordan um kind of put together just a
Starting point is 00:06:54 random list of things that the lady gang wants to learn about hear about talk about chat about gossip whatever um so it's literally these little pieces of paper inside of this little pink box it's a caboodle yeah it looks like a caboodle um and so our we've not seen these jordan put these together from the lady gang and here they are and we're gonna pull them out pick one jack first topic are we just gonna pick one no we're you we're just gonna go until we have half an hour having crushes on guys that aren't your boyfriend oh snap oh good topic um who wants to go first i think it's very healthy i think that celebrity or like attainable i think attainable okay celebrity is just like a fantasy yeah i have a celebrity crush on the guy who plays the lead of
Starting point is 00:07:39 pinky pinky blinders killian murphy i'm f***ed up about it too really no not really but kind of he's so hot i don't watch that show oh my oh my god i'm curious i want you to watch it okay and see if things happen to you down below. What's his name? Can I Google him? See, for me, you can't Google him. That's the problem. Oh, he's not hot. He's only hot as this character. No, that's the same thing. Yeah, Friday Night
Starting point is 00:08:06 Lights. Yeah, it's Tim Riggins. It's Tim Riggins. Like, I interviewed whoever Taylor Kitsch or whatever, and I was like, I don't ever want to meet. He looks hot. He's hot. But Tim Riggins, the fictional character of Tim Riggins, played by Taylor Kitsch, like,
Starting point is 00:08:22 i was so obsessed that i was like i maybe i'm not in love with my husband like i think i'm in love with tim riggins and then i met him and i was like no no i'm not in love with taylor kitch i'm in love with tim riggins you guys i've never watched friday night you have to it's such a mistake i know but is it sad huge is it sad no no it's everything like i can't watch this is us because i can't do it it's not like it's not even that sad i mean there's times where you feel sad but it's not like that kind of and it has great music do you know who might we're really off topic but that's the point of this my female celebrity crush i just realized is my neighbor who minka kelly she's the most beautiful she beautiful in real life holy shit even zach was
Starting point is 00:09:04 like yeah she's pretty like and he never says he says something he says something wrong is wrong with every woman that i think is beautiful because he's the best most devoted husband but we were walking the dogs in the neighborhood and she has two really cute dogs and she comes walking up and the dogs meet each other wait so you're like friends with minka kelly no and we're not friends at all i just want her to know who i am but i was like hi and i realized who she was when she was there but zach has no idea who anybody is ever right um and then she walked away and i was like do you know who that was he's like no it's like it's minka kelly he's like i don't know who that is and i tried to like describe it he's like oh yeah yeah he's like
Starting point is 00:09:42 she smelled really really good she smelled good who smells good on a walk with their dog that you Wait, and you just passed her? Or you said something to her? Like, our dogs had an interaction, but I didn't want to be a creep. Yeah, but to notice somebody's nice sense. And I also, like, make a love to you on Friday Night Lights. Timber gets forever. I know.
Starting point is 00:09:58 Texas forever. And was her name Shayla? I don't remember her name. Shayla? Shayla? Oh, yeah. Layla. Layla was her name.
Starting point is 00:10:05 Are we talking about Friday Night Lights? Again, yes. I'm blacking out when you guys are talking for some reason. Okay, so clearly I have more celebrity crushes than I realized. I have some celebrity crushes. Like, okay, so my first one was Tim Riggins, and then I've never felt a celebrity crush. Like, I think I get asked a lot of times because I interview all these, like, hot celebrity men, like, oh, does Chris get jealous? Does Chris get jealous?
Starting point is 00:10:25 And he's never had a reason to get jealous because I'm literally like, Tom Cruise? No, thank you. Like, most of the actors with your three front teeth. No, but, like, most of the actors in Hollywood are A, short. B, can't look you in the eyeballs. Or C, just, like, so narcissistic. Weirdos. But there's Jason Momoa.
Starting point is 00:10:46 Do you know who this is? Aquaman? we're taking a selfie jason momoa is so hot that i even actually went like down the hole of like googling pictures of him if i found out chris was like googling bikini models i'd be so sad but then i do it so i googled interviews with killian murphy like on youtube oh i've done that before i used to watch all the tim riggins like behind the scenes like extended cuts you know because that was like it came out right when shows started doing like a little bit extra now there's like after shows for every show you know everything oh my god i just like i love jason
Starting point is 00:11:20 momoa he is like primo human like he is a human what you need like if aliens come down to earth like we need to show him as an example of humans right or chris hemsworth i don't know chris hemsworth does nothing for me what i love charlie hunnam oh my gosh thank you i feel like did you watch sands of anarchy i did a little bit i tried i feel like you're gonna really have a thing for killian murphy if you watch peaky blinders okay what is peaky blinders it's about this um it's hard to explain it's like it's a stupid name no i know but it's like it's on netflix like i took a peaky razor blades in their peaky in their in their hats they're like the type of hats that they are called something they were and they would take them off
Starting point is 00:12:06 and slice you in the eyes and blind you that's so it's hot i'm like wow that does sound like something i would love to watch in a sexual way sound like something anyways should we talk about this question i think it's okay to have crushes you just can't act on them i think it also i mean if you're finding yourself that you're crushing on either one man or multiple men more than you're thinking about your boyfriend maybe there's a problem no here's the problem the problem is is that when you get old like us and you have mutual friends you know what i mean like say okay say like becca and zach and chris and i went out for dinner or whatever there are a lot of troubles when you look at someone's marriage or someone else's coupledom and you can't see the flaws in it and
Starting point is 00:12:49 you're like oh i wish my guy was more like their guy and there's a lot of interrelationship cheating because when you can't do the if you're not smart enough to do the tin or whatever like you can't fall in love with your friend's husband or like them fall in love with wife like how many times does that happen that happens a lot remember it happened yeah that's what i'm saying that's the craziest story you gotta keep your stuff in check yeah it's true okay next question what's next we really your turn perfume oh oh becca should talk about this because um she won't tell anybody her perfume no but your bathroom is like so i have so many intense i know um i believe in number one once you find your perfume never ever yeah tell anyone tell anybody why because people will steal
Starting point is 00:13:37 it i've been telling people i've stolen mine many times but who cares you have probably 25 bottles of perfume in your bathroom i know i do mixtures tinctures you tinctures yeah um give us your top 10 10 maybe like three top three well here's the thing i really like a roll-on essential oil because it stays on longer it's not mixed with alcohol that's what's important you do have to find don't use a spray yeah not mixed with alcohol i think that the note wait does the no alcohol make it stay on longer the alcohol like cuts they mix it like in a lot of perfumes they put alcohol in it and it cuts the scent but the perfumes that are spray perfumes usually have alcohol why but i think they have to i don't know something with i who but the roll-ons i don't know
Starting point is 00:14:21 i just knew it the roll-ons are just straight essential oils so and also the roll-ons are good because it's really a mixture of the chemistry of your skin and the whatever note that is, it's going to be different than if anybody else wears it. Well, that's like, because I wear Le Labo, and I feel Zach wears the same. Or yeah, we like would wear the same perfume cologne or whatever. Did you get turned on by Jack when you smelt her?
Starting point is 00:14:46 No, I made him stop wearing it. Because I was like, you smell like Jack now, so you're going to have to find something else. And I'm not going to get a new perfume. Yeah. I found my scent. Noir by Le Labo is the best. i've talked about it before on the podcast okay it's the best but it is i have like the droplet
Starting point is 00:14:59 one and it lasts forever but it's like 200 freaking dollars i think that amber is a really good they're they make a roll-on and it's called amber it's a roll-on essential oil and it smells good on everybody but it kind of smells different on everybody so it's good what do you wear i'm a high-low kind of girl i mean in high school i went for hawaii oh can we say what we wore in high school yeah what was that i i wore the like hawaiian it came it was like a body spray oh god it was hawaiian dream or something from like the drugstore yeah it was like hawaiian uh anyway it was like amber colored and it smelled like tropical hawaiian like everyone wore it like we wore that and we wore our gap puffy vests and listened to natalie and bruglia torn like on
Starting point is 00:15:44 repeat like everyone was basically that's really bringing you back to a certain so i will say my so a i like high low i have a body fantasies um vanilla body spray that i will what is high low are you trying to say like highbrow lowbrow yeah okay so i have a body fantasies vanilla in my drawer at home and i enjoy it honestly it's delicious smelling it's very lowbrow i think it's like 4.99 um i also have chanel number five which i mostly bought because i thought it was important that i had a bottle of chanel 90 number five on my counter and honestly it does not smell good at all i don't like it it smells like old lady so i haven't been using that much and then also i'm you're gonna be so embarrassed to be friends with me my friend josephine um who is
Starting point is 00:16:28 at vs gave me one of the new victoria's secret smell it's called love is it good and it's actually is it it's really really really pretty it's it's meant to be not this is an ad for them But it's meant to be the smell that's left on your shirt of your boyfriend after a night out when you put it on in the morning. Yeah, it kind of smells like leftover cologne, like that smell. And it's really pretty. So that's what I've been using. I'm not fancy. I don't even know what Labo is.
Starting point is 00:16:55 But I'm not fancy at all. That's interesting with the Victoria's Secret because I feel like all their perfumes smell the same. They all smell like that pink smell. This one smells different. And this one comes in a glass bottle, so you know it's fancy. So fancy. Yeah, okay, what did you wear in high school? Charlie.
Starting point is 00:17:09 hollister gross sex what yep oh and they discontinued it and i got so freaking pissed off but then i got abercrombie unisex i was probably the same thing i used did you ever wear ck1 no but i ckb remember that yep the only other one i wore was that like weird angel one that was like in the blue bottle and it had the star or something was alien i thought it's called angel oh no there's one there's two there i know which one you're talking about the angel like shit were you guys i'm always interested in like the canadian american were you into the gap smells do you remember when there was like good what was it grass dream like some like cottony one was that dream it was like grass that smelled like grass dream heaven i do elena can you google
Starting point is 00:17:56 the gap sense from the 90s i wore this weird body i think it was bath and body works and it was in a purple something and it was like moonlight yeah i remember that smell yes and it was really powdery. I loved a cucumber melon body spray. Oh my gosh. The coconut. When I moved to the States and I first discovered Bath and Body Works, do you remember the smells? There's a lot, but then there's also like it tells you what it says about you.
Starting point is 00:18:19 Oh. Okay, what are the smells? What are the smells? Okay, grass. Yeah. Dream. Dream. Earth. I don't remember Earth. It smells like dirt. Absolutely. I think I like that one. No one remembers you. That's what Earth means. It says. Oh no. Yeah, I don't remember Earth either. Heaven.
Starting point is 00:18:35 Heaven. That's the one. I remember that. Om. No, Om came after. That's not part of the four part. And day. Oh, day! It was orange, right? Smells like emergency and a hint of hand sanitizer. Emergency. I thought that Gap was writing these things.
Starting point is 00:18:51 No, that's a review. Somebody wrote it. Anyway, it was important to me. The smells. What smell do you like on a guy? I don't really know male perfume. Clones. Chris I wish would wear more cologne I've gotten him cologne as a gift
Starting point is 00:19:07 He's like He's a minimal sprayer He's like so calm That he can never Like I need you to like Douse yourself So it smells like Good all day and all night
Starting point is 00:19:16 And he's like a Yeah but it's better to have Too little than too much You don't want somebody Like walking around Like they're like Sweating out cologne Like when you go to Miami
Starting point is 00:19:25 And you like go out to the bar And you smell the gay guys And they're just like dripping I love that Zach is like a He's a cologne person But he doesn't like smell like he doesn't smell before he walks into a room you know what i mean like he replaced his
Starting point is 00:19:37 noir with i cannot say he's even crazier he'll hide it when we have people over i swear he's crazy is it good it's so good it's really good and sometimes i wear it but i love a unisex i'm gonna go and do a lady gang investigates into becca's bathroom and take a picture of everything he like has like a like a safe for it he actually puts it in a different bottle no i'm just kidding that was like wow okay kelsey it's your turn okay last one last one for the quickie oh okay here we go oh this is very inspirational how to stay motivated when presented with obstacles get off of instagram literally go through an instagram purge and delete everybody that makes you feel insecure yep it is the best thing in the world and it's
Starting point is 00:20:26 easiest thing to do um also it's the whole thing man's rejection is god's protection so whatever that obstacle was it was supposed to be there um and i look back in hindsight of my life and accomplishments and i think about those obstacles and i'm actually very grateful that they were there because a it either shifted my focus and made me come at it from a different angle which was always helpful yeah or it just sort of um i don't know reinstilled a little bit of like work ethic a little more grind a little more hustle yeah um but don't get me wrong i definitely like would cry about it for a day and then i'd move on everybody does yeah my thing is always to sleep like last night we like had a crazy day at work i had a crazy day at work and
Starting point is 00:21:17 it was like emotional like a project i really care about and all the way home like i drove home i cried the whole way home. I got home and mom's staying with me and I looked her in the eye and I just started crying because I was like so emotional and like I wanted to be perfect and I was like, is it perfect? I don't know. I'm such a perfectionist. And she just was like, how do you know you've been wired since a young age to have everything feel really hard? Because like when I was young and I was a dancer, like I was never the best one. So I'd like get off stage or get out of rehearsal and my teacher would be like, it's not good enough. And then when I was 20 and I started out my professional dance career, people were like, you're on the cruise ship and they're
Starting point is 00:21:51 like, you're too fat. You're not good enough. You know? And then when I started in TV, the same thing, it's like, I would do everything. They're like, well, if you'd be great, if you just changed everything about you, you know? And so I'm sort of wired for like a big, something to happen and then instantly make me feel like it's like unattainable to have that thing that I want, you know? And so I always sleep on it. Cause like I woke up this morning, I was like, I just need to go to sleep. So I like took a bath. I went to sleep. I woke up this morning and I was like, oh, none of that is real. Like I'm okay. You know? And the other thing that I do is I love to make a list. I think when your whole life is going crazy and you're feeling like I
Starting point is 00:22:25 can't stay motivated, I don't want to stay on track, whether it be your eating or your diet or like just at work, like how do I get things done? It feels overwhelming. And so I love to like in my day planner, make a list. And it can be stupid things like wash my hair, do a face mask, pay my taxes, like all up until like the serious stuff, you know? And just that feeling of like having that list and being like oh i took out the dog bed and washed it or like whatever like you feel like you're in a forward motion and then once you get in a forward motion you continue in that forward motion yeah i'm a big list maker i believe in a list i think too it's like it's so easy to get caught up in like the moment and not realize that things obviously change with time like time
Starting point is 00:23:09 is the biggest healer whether it's like with a breakup or it's with a job or whatever like everything this too shall pass with everything that's going on it's true a couple of my friends are going through weird shit with work one of my friends was laid off and another one was like let go from her job for a different reason and they're both stressing out so much but it's like it always especially professionally opens up some kind of a door that you never thought that you're gonna enter through and it lights a fire under your ass for change because so many people get so complacent complacent and would probably never if you know for like professional stuff would never leave a job for any other reason other than to get fired and then ended up finding a better job
Starting point is 00:23:47 so it's just like all things happen for a reason as cheesy as that is and it's like as long as you are like kicking ass and doing the best you can like right it'll change i always say like you have to trust the timing of your life like why do you meet this person then why do you have this job or why like for me not to like make it about me but i always like from the minute i started working at CBS. I was on The Insider, the sister show. And from that very first day, I always wanted to be on Entertainment Tonight. I looked across the set at them. They had the big set. They were always at the best shoots. They had the big golden platform at the award show. I always wanted to be on E.T. And every year, my contract would come up and they would be testing a million girls for
Starting point is 00:24:30 E.T. And I wasn't in the mix at all. Every year, they'd be like, oh, she's not ready. She's not ready. And I felt so ready and I wanted it so badly. I was like, no, I'm ready. Put me in, coach. And they were like, no, no. And it was so heartbreaking for me, but God, I'm so lucky that I, I trust, like it ended up taking me, you know, seven years to get there because if like 2013 Kelty had gotten that job on ET, I would have already been fired. Like I would have crashed and burned. Like I wasn't ready. I wasn't my full self. I wasn't strong enough emotionally or like work ethically or even talent wise. So I think sometimes when it's happening, it's hard to see why the obstacles keep happening and then when you can look back at your life you're like oh thank
Starting point is 00:25:10 god yeah it's all back in like hindsight that's how i feel every time i don't get an acting job and then i watch it and it sucks or it never gets made totally right that's true i can't tell you how many times i've cried my eyes out like i was up for something or i tested for some big show that was supposed to be the big thing and it either crashed and burned after they aired the pilot or it never went at all and I just think about it I was spared the heartbreak later which I've always said I don't want the heartbreak later I want the heartbreak up front I don't want to get the job that like I want to be able to deal with it in that moment and not give it any more energy and I think that the universe listened to me and that's why the next thing
Starting point is 00:25:51 didn't come like I don't know and that's like me being a stupid actor but also the obstacles from that i would have never ever thrown myself into the lady gang i never would have had the time like really the the patience for it i really would have found an excuse if i were doing another acting job to not be invested in this and i look at this as something that's not like a temporary job it's not the like three weeks you go shoot a movie and then it ends i'm creating something and we're creating something that's going to last as long as we decide we want it to last right That's really fucking crazy. What else is crazy when I look at you just like as a thought is that since, you know, since we ended and you have gone and I know the things that you've been up for and and it's like, oh, but the time that has passed is actually so short.
Starting point is 00:26:39 Like when I look at people like Mandy Moore, for example, like she's a juggernaut for, you know, this is us now. But she's been literally being rejected from things for 15 years. You know what I mean? And, like, who would have ever thought? Like, she's continued to act and be in, like, B-movies and, like, things like that. And, like, how could she have ever known, you know? But then it's, like, the timing's right. And, like, I just think when you get your next thing, they're going to be, like, you last saw her in Glee, but she didn't do, like, 15 really stupid failure things.
Starting point is 00:27:07 Like, you almost don't want to taint your water with, like, a failure.
