Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey guys, the following podcast is a Lady Gang Network and Podcast One production, which means it's going to be awesome. It's time for a quickie. Podcast One presents The Lady Gang, the Hollywood girl posse with Lady Gang Quickie. Here's Kelty Knight, Becca Tobin, and Jack Vanek. Let's make this quick. Hello, hello, hello, and welcome to the quickie with the Lady Gang. You guys, you guys, you guys, I have such big news.
Starting point is 00:00:28 okay no i totally forgot until right now so listen i was um i got an email from a lady gang listener and you remember how we were talking remember remember how we were talking about sorry about what we were going to use as our sign off oh yeah and then i was actually thinking that did we figure out one or no we did what did we do the last time not the sex with emily one it's the one we did later yeah we're not here for a long time we're here for a good time oh healthy did that we already talked about this on the show yep oh yeah she gave it to us we did it we did it that time but i forgot what it was a good thing i'm here for a long time i have a question do you think that i'm getting old yes my brain is not remembering wait like early onset
Starting point is 00:01:13 i have something to share about this i is it the die coke here's what it is it could be my best friend from childhood is now a neurologist yeah shout out to peggy she's way smarter than i did um and i called her probably six months ago and i was like peggy i think i'm having early onset yeah that's how i feel alzheimer's and i was very very concerned because i could be mid-sentence and have no idea what you're talking about she said it's because of our devices because technically scientifically multitasking yeah is not a possible it's not possible you can't you can't focus 100 percent of your brain on one thing and a hundred percent on the other like it has to be you have to choose one or the other so when we're in a conversation with somebody and our text message
Starting point is 00:02:04 goes off our brain suddenly stops like short circuit it short circuits it stops um penetrating yeah and you then focus on the phone even if you think it's in passing and you're like just sort of yeah paying attention to two things that's why so you're only like really like soaking in like 25% of information because you're doing 500 things at once. Yes, which is why lately I've been having it, I've had, like, right now, if we're having this conversation and we're talking about this topic,
Starting point is 00:02:31 tomorrow, if this topic comes up, I would literally not be able to tell you who I talked to about it, but I would, or where I was when I talked about it. But I would be like, I talked about this, I talked about this, I don't know who, I don't know who I was talking to. Thank God. It's because we're all walking around. You talked to other people?
Starting point is 00:02:47 No, not really. So rude. Barely. Barely. No, when you talk to other people, just texting us yes so we need to be putting our devices away because we're not having we're not truly like connecting and living in the moment that doesn't surprise me yeah but also it's like comforting to know that it's not just you right so there's no such thing as being able to multitask like you can only focus on one thing truly so don't worry ladies but definitely take your ginkgo do you guys want to hear the quote of the week yes okay i'm ready this one is coming from feminist icon
Starting point is 00:03:22 Roseanne Barr. I love her. She said, Can I be on that show? The thing women Yes. The thing women have yet to learn
Starting point is 00:03:31 is nobody gives you power. You just take it. Ooh. That's right, bitch. Isn't that great? That's a good quote. I thought you guys
Starting point is 00:03:38 would love it. That's amazing. So you guys are onto the mirror message this week? I am. That's good. Good job.
Starting point is 00:03:44 You're welcome. Nice, Roseanne. So instead of doing what we're grateful for, we came up with an idea to alternate because we're not that grateful in general there is way too many i was about to come in today and be like i'm grateful for yoga no what was i thinking whole foods smiles yeah it's awful
Starting point is 00:04:02 so instead we're gonna play for mary kill yeah um but we're gonna use the people we're each gonna tell somebody we've had an encounter with this week like what celebrity because we live in la we bump into they're all over the place so mine this week is felicity huffman she was in my yoga class oh she looks fine okay speaking of body is like insane insane she really i think it's that's that's when someone works out their whole life yep like you can tell that she's never it's not how my body is gonna look like she's very lean and muscular yeah pretty okay i got to interview um rod stewart for the first time so we're gonna put rod stewart in my body and you think i'm sexy okay first of all rod stewart is a babe like it's so weird because i always get um barry manilow and
Starting point is 00:04:53 rod stewart can mix up yeah they have the big hair yeah but rod stewart is like rock and roll skinny which you know i love and love a scrawny man like his face does not look leathery he's 72 years old guys he still has that full head of hair it's not a piece i like really looked at it i'm sure he's had a hair hair transplant i'm sure it looks amazing a good one though but like amazing clothes he was like in mcqueen and just like layered and like a rosary and i was like you're hot rod stewart and it was weird i have no idea didn't he have that penny lancaster or whatever lady i don't know um i really did my research on that one anyway rod stewart's hot so well you interviewed him yeah i saw the interview so nice you saw me on tv and i meant to tell you that you during the
Starting point is 00:05:39 interview it was so cute but then you did like the comp you talk about it later yeah and you had to say learned yeah and you know how we make fun of you because you learned learned yeah you gave me a hybrid between learned and learned what did i say it was like i just barely learned it was so funny i was like l-e-a-r-n-d-t yeah i can't believe i'm on television honestly my grammar is disgusting it's not your grammar it's your pronunciation of like the most random words my own words all the time it's like you think you're a foreign but you're not i am foreign canadian is my first language just very sloppy just like oh yeah you know we go downhill yeah go and beer i'm gonna learn to this today learn i'm like a hick shut up anyway okay so rod stewart's on my list
Starting point is 00:06:24 felicity rod stewart i saw jeff goldblum is it goldblum or goldblum goldblum yeah um i saw jeff goldblum at the airport uh he is so hot yeah he's like six four he had we had the matching ramoa suitcases so i felt very good and he was by himself at the airport walking around slowly with just this smirk on his face like he was waiting for people to come up to him like it was amazing yeah like he was just like who's gonna notice me next and then like somebody takes a picture and then he's like he looks so happy and just like content nice is he yes oh god this is gonna be hard okay becca tobin between rod stewart felicity huffman and jeff goldblum marry kill i think i would marry jeff goldblum oh i would i'm sorry rod i would have sex with
Starting point is 00:07:14 felicity she looked so good oh hot okay and then rod sorry okay i haven't seen felicity huffman in a long time so she's a little bit irrelevant to me at this point dead to you so she is literally dead to me i'd want to and marry jeff because he's so hot and then since you said he's nice i mean he seems pretty odd for me he's odd i love a weird guy he's an odd bird i think if anybody knows but is he single i don't know i don't know he's not the type of celebrity that anybody's ever really inquiring yeah their marital status oh my god breaking news i think i was trying at the airport. I think I was trying
Starting point is 00:07:53 to look it up when I saw him. I would marry him because then I could f*** him when I marry him and then I guess I would like randomly f*** Rod Stewart.
Starting point is 00:08:01 Okay. Nice. I would f*** Rod Stewart because I'm intrigued by his 72-year-old hotness now. Okay. Like there's something
Starting point is 00:08:10 about him. Do you think he can still get a good bony? I don't know. Viagra, anyone can. Can they? Even at that age? I'm going to marry Felicity.
Starting point is 00:08:18 You're killing Jeff? Yeah. i've i've interviewed him many a times he is an odd bird and i can tell and that's fine whatever floats your boat jeff but i can tell he's not a rule follower and i think he's probably like snorting cocaine like under the table it would not be a good match i feel like he does whatever he wants at whatever time spirit it's very free and that's not gonna work for me in the bedroom or in life i feel like yeah he just gives you anxiety thinking about how may like all over the place i'm sweating thinking about it right now anyway all right that
Starting point is 00:08:56 was a good one i like that we have to pull topics now oh yeah well when we come back oh right we're gonna go into our box we have to someone pay for this don't shake it too hard what's in the lady gang box what's in the box we're back are you pulling it first one i'll pull it what's in our box lessons learned on the job oh god so many um i just had one come to mind uh in all these years i think that i learned the lesson to speak up for myself there were so many times that i allowed other people to tell me what to wear what to do um i recently had this happen so i'm not like an expert but you you know what's best for you better than anybody else yeah even if somebody's an expert or somebody's been doing it for whatever um yeah just like stand your ground and stick up
Starting point is 00:09:56 for yourself i've learned so many things jack what should i go yeah okay so i've never had like an actual job with a boss before i've always been my own boss which comes with its own problems and they might be even more stressful than working a normal job because everything is like hanging on your head um one of the things that i learned i guess if you're starting a business is to take baby steps and don't get ahead of yourself because i had so many different phases within my business that i was listening to people that were experts and telling me like what to do with my business what inventory to order, how much money to put into things and ended up wasting so much of my time and money. And in my gut, I knew it was wrong. I'm like, I don't want to do this. I'm
Starting point is 00:10:41 going to end up ordering like thousands of this unit of something. I'm never going to be able to sell it. It's going to be dead cash sitting there. And it was, so it's like, there's nothing wrong with starting slowly, taking baby steps and working on what you have. I've done it with art, like with the lady gang too, where I'm like, we can't order this. I don't want to sit on inventory yeah so it's like yeah you really need to just like listen to how your business is organically growing if you don't have some kind of an investor and move slowly there's nothing wrong with building something slowly oh i love that this is really good advice i just want a mansion and jet i'm just kidding um for me so many things of course because i'm a mere messenger but
Starting point is 00:11:18 this is what i learned especially this last year you learned what i learned she learned oh yeah what i learned this year no learn isn't a word learned is not a word no no oh i thought you were correcting me like i should say oh no don't confuse me this is a full circle moment so like you messing it up before she didn't mess it up though i just this is what i learned this year i was trying to be grammatically learned this is what i learned this um l-e-a-r-n so i've always come from the place of trying i know you guys don't believe this because i'm lady gang like my I really let it fly my like ego and like kind of jokey but yeah but I in my real life I've always tried to just sort of like put my head down do the work and be quite humble at work at my job
Starting point is 00:12:02 and so you know there's this thing in in hockey this is kind of crazy but there's this thing in hockey when they interview the hockey players after the game and it's like the guy who got the winning goal and they're like wow you really got that goal so great they never take that they always say well I was set up great by McLarty and then you know our whole team so they always talk about it as a team they never take that for themselves and so I've always been that way someone would be like wow that piece on the show was so great and I'd be like oh yeah director this did this or oh yeah I can't believe we got this booking for Joe did this you know and that's actually a downfall like i have learned that learned i have learned that we have to be our
Starting point is 00:12:48 own hype machine and our own soundbite machine and if you you have to let your bosses and the people ahead of you know what you're doing great in a way that is really professional and good without acting like an asshole like it's a really tough balance but you know like last summer i sat down with one of my bosses and I was like here's all the things I've created in the last five years here's my ideas here's what I should do and I had to start the meeting by saying I'm not I'm never the kind of person to hype myself up but I feel like this is my last ditch shot yeah I want to tell you all the things I've done and they were like we didn't know half of this stuff was you right and so I think my advice is just to you know when you do something really strong take
Starting point is 00:13:29 credit for it stand in your because a guy would like a guy is always like oh I did this and so i'm just trying to be find that balance between being humble and being a team player and also being like did you see this thing i did and because for some reason the bosses they keep those people around that talk themselves up all the time does that make sense of course it's it's it's drinking your own kool-aid yeah every actor i know that drinks their own kool-aid who believes that they're the best in the world like or not the world but who thinks that they're amazing and most of the time they're not um they get the jobs they convince everybody around them because everybody's just wanting to be swayed everybody's just wanting to be told what's yeah literally you
Starting point is 00:14:09 have to tell people what they should think exactly so you know what it's a lot of the really successful people not even just in this industry everywhere yeah the most confident people like i look at zach every day my husband and i he's somebody who he's very humble and he works really really really hard but because he works so hard and he is smart he doesn't have any shame about saying when he's crushing it right and he says it to the right people in the right way right but you're never like he'll never sit back and be like oh no it's it's not that big of a deal he'll be like yeah it's a big deal i worked my ass off yeah and it's like god i just i don't know what that is but i hope that i can like yeah yeah and that's hard i have always had to be like humble yep i
Starting point is 00:14:55 have a little bit of a devil's advocate with that in a sense where if you're in a position of power and you say with if you're a boss of a business or whatever and you accomplish something that was great and if somebody is asking you about it and you are taking all the credit yourself when a team helped you do that yeah for sure that is that's completely different but it's kind of like along the same lines though it's like i have a friend of mine that works for this like this company that does like instagram stuff and she and her team like bust their ass off but anytime that there's an interview with their bosses they're like oh my god you two are so great to own the company i can't believe that you did it and they're like yeah you know it's just like us two doing all
Starting point is 00:15:37 the work and like blah blah blah and don't acknowledge their team whatsoever so there is like a balance with that i feel like you have to give the right people yeah credit where it's due that's what makes it hard yeah you know because it yeah it is a balance between like being humble and like standing up for like your hard work yeah anyway okay all right next one next topic what's in her box not a lot oh favorite vacation spot oh man i'm gonna go no you're not no you go the best vacation i ever went on um i think was last year i went to tahiti and this island called taikao which is look it up right now on the internet not if you're driving t-i-k-e-h-a-u it's a it's a um sandbar in the middle like by bora bora but
Starting point is 00:16:28 it's that's the one where they have like the little huts well they have that all over sort of the tahiti area but this place there was only 15 huts on this entire island oh my gosh and it's it's a weird atoll that meets where it's completely surrounded by coral reef and so the water is like glass because you're sort of in a lagoon but there's one little area where the salt water from the ocean comes in like stream vibes into the lagoon and all the fish sit there and they wait for the plankton and all the little creepy crawlers to come in from the ocean snorkeling there was like you were in a dream fantasy world of finding like it was everything and you could snorkel and they're like the little sharks were around you and my nightmare really oh it's my
Starting point is 00:17:13 dream i hate being oh i don't want any i want to go swimming with sharks really yes oh it was pretty cool i had a panic attack snorkeling once oh were you surrounded on three four walls by the fish that gets a little intense even that much i was just like i need to get out of here i was snorkeling in in this place and bottom of the sandbar to the top of the water was walls of fish and they were so cool 360 it was so intense but it was beautiful and it was my favorite vacation ever because i worked out really hard before i went and so i felt like so fierce in my body and i was like yes i've got it it was amazing and i had really good books to read i'm gonna go and on a completely different vacation one of my favorite cities i've ever been to is tokyo
Starting point is 00:17:59 it is i mean tokyo is like another world it is so freaking cool everybody in japan is just so polite so wonderful it's so clean and the whole city is just so quirky like everything about it is all their themed bars they have this place called golden guy that it was during world war ii i think that they made it and it's all these micro bars that fit maybe five people total and in it and there's like six blocks of all these micro bars there's probably 600 of them and you just jump from one to another and they're all themed in like different ways i just love tokyo so much you could be there for years and still not see everything it's true wow and everybody's so wonderful they are wonderful what about yours tobes i mean the safari we did on the honeymoon
Starting point is 00:18:46 in south africa was pretty epic south africa in general was amazing and it was this place where i could a see myself living um i also kind of felt like that about uh stockholm that was an amazing city oh you always say that you went there with the glee right i know just on vacation like with back it was amazing it's so cool the people are beautiful they're nice it's just like yeah it's clean yeah i love my safari too safari is it's just another level it's just a hard thing like do you prefer going on an adventure vacation like i went to prague right to tokyo tokyo or do you prefer to go on a beach like lay on the beach all day relax drink margaritas have sex like go to bed at 9 p.m wake up when the sun comes up like i like i like a combo like i'm going to hawaii for my
Starting point is 00:19:33 birthday and she didn't invite us back sorry bitches um but i think that's a good combination because it's we're gonna go skydiving and then you know you can go on all these hikes and ziplining and whatever and then you can go lay on the beach i think it's a good great weather amazing no zika no zika all right should we wrap it up because i have to pee or should we do one more i feel like we let's wrap it up yeah okay well we i have to pee so that was really fun thank you for listening to the lady gang quickie was it quick yes it was um follow us on social media was it quick yes it was um follow us on social media at the lady gang now there are millions of you listening to our show and only 50 000 of you are following us rude on instagram and
