Starting point is 00:00:00 it's time for a quickie podcast one presents the lady gang the hollywood girl posse with lady gang quickie here's kelty knight becca tobin and jack vanek let's make this quick hello hello hello and welcome to the lady and quickie i am becca here with jack and kelty what's up becca you look so pretty today what about me you look the same thank you so much It's so pretty. You're wearing like a cute blazer. I'm wearing a polka dotted suit. A vintage t-shirt.
Starting point is 00:00:31 Fleetwood Mac. Fleetwood Mac. I knew it was Fleetwood Mac from the two O's. And let me tell you something. This is not an ad, but I got these Chinese laundry booties. They're like $64. Put them on the table. Like full price.
Starting point is 00:00:43 Chinese laundry shoes. Aren't they cute? They look like Prada. They're surprisingly good. I love it. And they're the most comfortable. And they're really inexpensive. And I wore them in Aspen.
Starting point is 00:00:53 Got snow all over them. I'm just, like, disconnected the way you're holding it right now. Because I'm so flexible. Hold on, I got it. But I got the, I brought them to Aspen, and I was like, clearly $64 shoes are not going to withstand the snow. Yeah, you're going to be wet. You're going to be wet.
Starting point is 00:01:06 They were totally snow-proof. They look brand new. Thank you. There you go. Anyways. Okay, put your foot down. I also got a new accoutrement. Kelty is in the ugliest miniature sunglass.
Starting point is 00:01:17 Don't be mad. Okay, here's the thing about a miniature sunglass. usually they're long and wide so they at least fit the width of people's faces these look like two dots where do these come from someone sent them to me the brand you mean it's real i thought it was from like like a party table this is real they're supposed to be like fashion glasses yeah also kelty put them on cool people i put them on callie it's great she put them on my face and she's like oh my god they look so good i'm like kelty that's a fucking lie because i have Very round face.
Starting point is 00:01:47 Well, this is so unfair because our girls can't see you. They can't see it, but we can describe it. Like, I think she could pull it off. I do not. I would never, ever lie to you like that. Kelty can almost, I said Kelty could. Kelty's face is tinier. It's thinner.
Starting point is 00:02:01 Oh, my God. But you do look great. It looks like she's wearing, you know, when we used to go to the tanning beds. Yes. That's exactly the size of these sunglasses. Do you remember how revolutionary it was when the tanning beds went from the tanning bed to the little cones that you could, like little sticker cones? Yep, the stickers.
Starting point is 00:02:20 Little sticker cones. A circle with a slit in it. Yeah, and you didn't have the eye anymore. Wait, I have a question. When you guys used to go tanning, what sticker did you put on your hip? I did a heart for a very brief period of time, I think. And I can't remember if I did it or if I just saw it so many times that the Playboy Bunny. I did the Playboy Bunny.
Starting point is 00:02:40 I'm hoping I didn't. I did. i did the playboy bunny and then also the palm tree oh that was my i didn't have that as an option in atlanta i was too poor i couldn't afford like the 25 cents that were like i did i did get the tingle lotion though every time tingle do you not remember that you don't remember the tingle you put it all over your body it was like to enhance the tan because it brings all the blood cells like the blood up to the surface it's all sounds crazy so bad but for like a very very very very white person like you would put it on and you would be tomato red and then you'd
Starting point is 00:03:13 sizzle your skin i'm surprised i even have skin anymore like how did i how do we not age rapidly i did thank god for botox i mean thank god do you know the smell like there's the bo of a tanning bed is a specific I kind of love the smell of cooked skin yeah me too it really it's very nostalgic I know I kind of wish I could go in a tanning bed one last time I have a friend who went right before her wedding they still exist yes like the best there can't be a line no a line to get in the tanning bed no I think at this point they pay you they'd have like nine rooms they'd be like okay let me clean that one out for you and you'd like it was just like a conveyor belt yeah No, no, it's certainly, I think it's pretty easy to get into a tanning bed.
Starting point is 00:03:59 What if you're one of those people that's like, you know what I'm going to invest in? Tanning beds. Honestly, they'll probably make a comeback. Everything weird like that does. It's true. Did you hear that like the nineties diet is making a comeback with like fat free, like you know how everything used to be fat free and like, uh, what was the other one? Like reduce fat.
Starting point is 00:04:18 And like, like they're saying now that you can like really get skinny from that. I'm like, you get cancer from that. I just never realized that keto is just Atkins. So that's what they do is they just rebrand diets with different names. Should we do it? No. What would you rebrand? The cabbage soup diet.
Starting point is 00:04:36 Remember that one? The poopy dupe diet, I would call it. I kind of did keto before my trip. I did like one month with like very low carbs and like high fat and high protein. It works. And I looked great. It really did work. One of my friends did keto.
Starting point is 00:04:52 But now I'm like, I ate a churro today. One of my friends did keto. File off the wagon. One of my friends did keto, but she ended up eating so much more. Because all she was doing is craving carbs, so she just ate a bunch of cheese. No, that's stupid. She's an idiot. She's not doing it right.
Starting point is 00:05:08 That's not how it goes. Jack's like, it was me. My friend. My friend. Was me. Jack with a K. Oh, my God. Okay, when we come back, it's time for the first What's in a Box of 2020.
Starting point is 00:05:21 That's too loud. Too loud. Okay, we're back. Oh, my God. What the hell? I hope your eardrums are okay. You guys, we have bad news. Uh-oh.
Starting point is 00:05:33 We lost the box. Wasn't it like a caboodle? You know what? Somebody sent me a caboodle in the mail. I love a caboodle. I know. I was going to say we could use it, but I actually want to keep it. Someone sent me a caboodle, too.
Starting point is 00:05:44 Was it the... You guys are on all the good mailing lists. Yeah, we are. The makeup brand. Not those glasses. No. okay so i got a new box because i'm doing no plastic 2020 these these are some of my little tins that i bring my food stop playing with it yeah yeah it's annoying yes so i'll lift it off
Starting point is 00:06:02 gently would you like to do we need a new box i know already we need a soundless box what are you doing i'm making them they were flat that's boring got it so i'm folding them up now these are all questions that came to us from the facebook group and i would like to caveat that by saying there was a comment about how the girls would like to know more about your life and your life and less about mine. Now, they didn't say straight out less Kelty, but they didn't ask for more Kelty. They're like, we know that Becca doesn't like to open up her life, but I'd love to know more about her.
Starting point is 00:06:33 And the same with Jack. That was the comment. How is there? We've done four years of talking about ourselves. I don't know. Good thing this book's coming out. I know. Buy our book if you want to know more about our lives.
Starting point is 00:06:44 Yeah. Okay. Totes. Jack's up first. what is we're all answering this right yeah okay what is the weirdest thing a fan has ever done for you or said to you do you have yours yeah what well it wasn't really well yeah so when i first started glee i did a charity thing um somewhere in west hollywood and there was a candy like a red hots candy portrait that created my face okay out of candy and some guy actually
Starting point is 00:07:16 bid on it and purchased it and i think that's the weirdest thing but coolest thing that a fan's ever done for me that is very weird i want to know where that thing is you know he's like well nothing ever happened with this girl don't red hot he's like shit thought that was gonna be worth something one day don't red hots uh like like melt like rot he does i don't know he the artist must like preserve it somehow like like remember yes like a modge modge podge when you could like shellac like you're like let me cut these pictures when i would do crawford out of my magazine and then shellacked them to my dresser as a teen. Oh, I loved doing that.
Starting point is 00:07:49 Shellacky, shellacky, wacky, wacky. The only thing that comes to mind for me is after I broke up with my last ex-boyfriend, somebody messaged me telling me that they hooked up with him. Was it like a nice message being like, was he with you when they hooked up with him? No. Well, I don't think so. Why would someone do that? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:08:10 That's why it's the weirdest thing I can think of. I like that. Do they mean it in a nice way? I don't know. It was very, like, matter-of-fact-y. Like, I f***ed him, too? Yeah. That's it?
Starting point is 00:08:21 I think I would have liked that. Why? Because then I could, like, reach out and be like, tell me more. Get some dirt. I don't know. Like, was it terrible for you, too? Oh, dark. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:32 I think getting mail from jail is very weird, but also slightly wonderful. It's weird, but, like, I don't want to hate. um back in the days when i had my i had a blog and my mantra was courage passion hard work there's a girl named stephanie who tattooed that mantra on her back courage passion hard work yes and i think it really have a ring do you think that you really are the first person to ever say that well i knew probably because it doesn't really because it's not great it sounds like when she was sending us texts with the ideas for the title of the book it's like oh it's just not quite there It just really doesn't, like, I already forgot what it was.
Starting point is 00:09:14 Because it doesn't have a ring. It doesn't rhyme. You know what? It doesn't have a cadence. This morning, so that's your thing. I want to jump in. I've also had some tattoos that girls have done as well. Ooh.
Starting point is 00:09:26 That's special. You know, Christy Lockwood, that does all of our. Yeah, Poshmark. She has one of my quotes tattooed on her neck, on the back of her neck. Whoa, that's a good one. It's like, these pants are $5. No one's ever done a tattoo for me. Please don't take that as an invitation.
Starting point is 00:09:41 It's weird. I was going to say something, but what was it? What's in the box? Oh, Kelty. Uh-oh. What's it going to be? Stop texting Alex at 7.30 in the morning. You know what? I've made one error.
Starting point is 00:09:56 Twice. Twice. Two days in a row. Two days in a row. You did it this morning, and you also did it yesterday. What was this morning? You wrote, yep, a response that I sent a question 12 hours before. I'm sorry that I'm up so early in the morning.
Starting point is 00:10:09 Well, it obviously wasn't, like, pressing because you took 12 hours to respond to it. I was asleep. I go to bed at 7. But anyways, you know, we decided. Work hours. We should let everyone know. We've decided on business hours, 9 to 6, and then no bad news after 7. Yes, unless it's an emergency, which Kelty always says things are emergencies when it's like,
Starting point is 00:10:31 oh, my God, I didn't get enough likes on my Instagram photo. She recently sent us emergency, emergency. we have too much money in the bank account i go that does not even qualify i like that emergency i mean that one i'll accept okay well first of all that was kelty 4.0 and i was joking and trying to be cool cool mom fun mom oh my god please second of all since our office is closing at six i no longer find the need to stay up past six that's fine but don't respond so i just am now sleeping from seven to five okay god do not start working though that doesn't mean your office hours are seven i i respectfully apologize alex i'm very sorry about my morning texts i won't happen again
Starting point is 00:11:12 probably it will tomorrow i know but listen we're all up but the thing it's nice to not i was always up are you up she is about you all the time before 7 a.m sometimes becca and i chat about things that aren't about the lady gang if you can believe it if you can imagine i don't like that i don't like that you guys are having a separate text you would not engage in conversation that doesn't involve our business true you would just be like give them stickers that's the other thing that we should tell the world i the box we're talking about we're doing stickers do we want to talk about let me tell the world about sticker gate okay okay fine so we're doing a book obviously if you haven't heard and you've been living under a rock and you don't follow kelty
Starting point is 00:12:00 on instagram we're doing a book and for one of the ben i'm not going to say specifics because i don't know what i'm allowed to but we're going to do one of the additions is going to be exclusive like for a retailer like it'll have something in it that the other ones don't and we're texting on our chain being like what about this what if we tell this story or this or this and kelty goes what about what if we gave them stickers and also by the way i know by stickers she means like our face yes like oh yes that's not at all what i meant what did you think they were gonna be what i meant is that in the book there's cute drawings and some fun quotes and i thought it would be cute like if you wanted a badass quote on your laptop you could do a quote sticker look
Starting point is 00:12:40 at our young young young young young employee alex young professional professional she doesn't have a single doesn't have a soul alex you would you ever put a sticker on your beautiful sheet If it was said Lady Gang on it, you would. No, she wouldn't. She says no. Yeah, but Alex is a 75-year-old. She can't put stickers on her luggage. Alex, when you're working at the wing, how many girls have stickers on their stuff?
Starting point is 00:13:07 Yeah, thank you. So anyway, these bitches were like, no stickers. And then I was like, you're wrong. People love stickers. And I said, I didn't know we had that many losers that listened to the Lady Gang that would want stickers. And then I went in the Facebook group, and I polled everyone. But you didn't say. Like, you need to be more specific.
Starting point is 00:13:27 Yeah, you couldn't be like, if there was one thing you could have exclusive. You're just like, in general, as an adult, you like stickers. That's so stupid. And people said yes. I loathe a sticker. I hate stickers. When I get a package in the mail from a brand and they send me a sticker, I'm like, what? The world is on fire.
Starting point is 00:13:46 Stop using our paper and our trees to make fucking stickers. I think stickers are made out of plastic. I want to take you back, hold the phone, to an era called 2008 when I used to walk down Franklin Street in Las Feliz and I would see who the fuck is Jack Vanek stickers on every light pole. Sticker queen. Yeah, that was guerrilla marketing. I wasn't putting them on my computer. I was just trying to do it to make people know who I was. Listen, you can be lame and like stickers.
Starting point is 00:14:14 I love stickers. I still think we should make who the fuck is Lady Gang stickers and put those all over the place. I don't want to make stickers to stick on my things. I don't stick stickers. no no no by the way kelsey the way that she presented this was we need to make stickers for everybody to put on their hydro flasks and i'm like our our listeners are not visco girls visco girls are 14 years old they're in junior high school everyone okay you know what i i fought with you already i'm not gonna refight with you i let go on the stickers when you get the kelsey
Starting point is 00:14:47 solo book k-type the way to be better than everyone else coming 2021 it will have 10 pages of stickers plus i can't wait i can't wait for you to self-publish k-type oh my god she'll never even proofread it ever it'll come out with so many typos so many it won't make any sense sentences are going to be off the charts there was one part we were just doing final edits on the book and that person is editing it and i was like this part's confusing there's like a whole page and i went back and read it i was like this makes no sense no sense i was like what the is this shit it was my own writing you're reading you're reading your own story you're like i don't understand what's going on i lived this story and i was like nope no idea what's happening
Starting point is 00:15:40 in this plot. It's like a manic episode by Chelsea. It was so... Kelty's opening up a fat burger. Is it one of those days? Well, I haven't eaten yet and I've already been working since five. Are you going to eat on the podcast? You haven't been working since five. You've been awake since five
Starting point is 00:15:56 trying to work. Also, I think that moving forward, Kelty should have... I want to do something to her. No! Do they have an invention? A lobotomy? No, let me tell you what I want to do.
Starting point is 00:16:12 I want to, it's kind of like what you do, like, with children when you, like, parent. Take my glasses off for my fries. Like, parental controls on TVs. I want to do parental controls on her emails where, like, they actually don't get sent when she pushes send. You can do that. Come to me first. Hold on. Hold on.
Starting point is 00:16:31 Oh, yes. Oh, they go to you first. Yeah. Yes. I would love it if you thought you were emailing people and it just came to me and I decided if it actually. But can I get a clap for something I did this weekend? Let's hear it. So I worked all weekend, and on Saturday, I had-
Starting point is 00:16:49 Let me play this violin for you. No, it's fine. I don't mind. It was great. I just got back from vacation. I'm very refreshed. Kelsey 4.0. She loves working.
Starting point is 00:16:57 She's tan. She loves working. She loves it. So I had a day where I had to sit around and wait for a lot of people, so I had hours to wait in between my interviews. It's our worst nightmare. Yeah. So I brought my laptop and I was like, let me do a bunch of work.
Starting point is 00:17:10 And I went in to my Gmail and I figured out how to delay sending the emails. So Saturday morning I was writing those emails. I did not send them to you until Monday morning at 8 o'clock. That's good. I like that. I like that, but. We're talking about the content of your email. Okay, but have I not improved 200%?
Starting point is 00:17:32 you've done better except for there was a time recently that you sent out an email that was very ill-informed regarding the book can you are you guys talking about me behind my back this is gonna be the downfall of lady we aren't no we actually haven't but she knows what i'm talking about you guys keep talking about if you have a separate text chain that's in the lady gang that's how it starts that's how can beyonce had a separate chain with tina and then michelle and kelly tina's mom michelle so who's on your text chain no one no are you saying this story i'm so confused well obviously i'm beyonce and you and kelly and michelle you're mad because you feel like we're not mad no i don't like it it's just we don't even have to text each other
Starting point is 00:18:17 when you do something we know it's like we just know we're connected like twins we're in the womb being like off come on again now i do want to say that there was another comment in the facebook group about asking let me just go into it actually for a second because it is it is a pretty hot topic the one that was like um asking about the becca and jack actually hate kelty no no let me say i'm only like this with people that i love same i only troll people i love same if i'm making fun of you yeah consider you in the circle yeah and that's what i said i said yes they're actually they were like are they really annoyed with her or is this like a shtick and we aren't really annoyed with you oh i lied i said they are really annoyed with me but i don't
Starting point is 00:19:04 i don't get my feelings hurt no but now when i found out you guys have a secret exchange without me she gets so pissed i just don't want to be left out no but the thing is we're not like annoyed You're just so easy to troll. It's so easy. It's funny. I actually, this morning at 7.30 a.m. when you texted Alex the second day in a row that I said, let's not text Alex before 9. And I sat there and I was like, damn it.
Starting point is 00:19:29 With the combination of her sticker gate and then also yesterday me having to chastise her, I can't do it again. It's like I actually stopped myself because I was like, how much can one human take? It's true. And on that note, it's obviously been a good time. But we weren't here for a good time. We're not here for a long time. We're not even going to be here next week at all because I quit.
