It’s the most judgmental time of the year! The LadyGang is closing things out with their annual Best of the Yearextravaganza, where the girls make the rules, break the rules, and crown the ...very best (and sometimes worst) moments of the past twelve months. From celebrity scandals that fed our souls, to the TV shows, movies, and music that carried us through, to the ugliest trends we wish we could unsee, and even the best dupes that saved our bank accounts—nothing is safe from the LadyGang’s chaotic, heartfelt, and brutally honest ranking system. Get ready for laughter, surprises, heated debates, and a few deeply unhinged honorable mentions as the trio decides what truly defined the year… according to them, and only them.Check out our holiday deals!!Vimergy: Try VIMERGY liquid vitamins! Starting point is 00:00:00 It's time for a quickie. Podcast one presents the Lady Gang, the Hollywood girl posse with Lady Gang Quickie. Here's Kelty Knight, Becca Tobin, and Jack Vanek. Let's make this quick. Hello, hello, hello. Welcome to Lady Gang Quickie. I am Becca here with Jack and Kelty. It's the best of the year.
Starting point is 00:00:24 Best of the year. Best of the year. Best of the year. best of the year. Gorgeous. It's the only list that matters in my opinion. All of the end of the year lists are coming out. Best blah, blah, blah, best blah, blah, blah. Nope. Guess what matters? The lady gang list. Best of the year. Every year we determine the best of the year in all of the most important categories, including best dupe, best TV show, best app, best celebrity scandal, best song, best ugly trend. Did I already say that? And here we are to give you
Starting point is 00:01:04 our thoughts on it. I will begin. Best dupe. I have brought it here to show you. This purse is from Amazon. It is a Bottega dupe. I was in Ibiza with rich friends this summer and I turned to my friend Leslie and she had this, I said, Oh my God, you're so lucky you have that bag. And she goes, it's from Amazon. It comes in not only braided, but also just plain every color into the sun. And let me tell you about this bag. Now, what makes it look cheap is this strap, which you can take off. You can just hold it like a little bag. It is the perfect size for a cell phone, lip gloss, ring light, little thing that you want to take. I mean, I don't know if you guys are traveling with the ring light, but it is $39 and I will link it. It is the best dupe I've ever
Starting point is 00:01:54 seen in my life. I have it in tens of colors. Nobody can tell it's not Bottega and it's not meant to be Bottega. It's an imitation. It's not a dupe. It's not like it says Bottega on it. It's inspired by Bottega, but it's perfect. The perfect size. A lot of times those little bags, they don't fit your phone okay what's your best dupe of the year um you know i don't do dupes um but the closest thing i'll say is because elf was a presenting sponsor of lady world i became very familiar with all the elf products and i think that almost every product in their line is a dupe for a much more expensive item like a Charlotte Tilbury or a Chanel, but they have, if you're, I beg you, if you're on Tik TOK and you're watching some girly put on her makeup with
Starting point is 00:02:50 $600 worth of cosmetics, go over and check out elf and see their exact product that does the thing. And you're going to be very excited about it. Yeah. A hundred percent. That foundation, that flawless filter foundation is the setting spray the dewy setting spray that we got it's gorgeous gorgeous um i'm doing a brand as well um and that brand is steve madden steve madden is the tried and true steve madden himself has admitted that they're somewhat of a dupe brand and all of their shoes are just so good and especially for like i get it if you're gonna buy an expensive basic shoe that you're going to wear for years and years and years but for anything trendy i like refuse to pay more than like 100 bucks for it and that's where steve madden shines
Starting point is 00:03:43 like if you're getting the the it boot of the fall get it from steve madden they have a great boot that looks exactly like the row boot that's been out for many seasons it's the zip up little chelsea boot type thing steve madden is almost identical i just got a pair from dsw is it these no the ones that i'm talking about that is so cute those are very cute they have to be a dupe for something i don't know what they are but i love them i love them no these are proud too what you feel proud of my like of my dsw steve madden like i had a clog and everyone like when i posted myself everyone's like link the shoe link the shoe there's something that makes you feel proud about when you're like, it was 60 bucks. Like you're not a dumb ass. Like
Starting point is 00:04:32 you're not spending $600 on something that's going to get ruined. Like it's a clog. I love that clog. Yeah. Agreed. Okay. Send me that link. I need a clog. I will. Um, what was your favorite uh, celebrity scandal of the year? I think we're all going to agree on this. Justin Blake. Oh, Blake and Blake Taylor. Oh, I didn't even consider that this year because it started last year but i guess oh it did yeah i it it just hasn't even ended guys we're still in it trial next year we're still in it and then when she released the album and the song was called ruin the friendship and we thought oh it's going to be about blake but it was about a guy she went to high school with like i just the tick tock tick tock you know
Starting point is 00:05:19 well mine was the blue origin flight and oh oh if it actually happened or not yes did it happen my friend was at the launch so i think who my friend was at the launch so they definitely went up there i don't know she wasn't on the space shuttle to tell you if they really reached it they were gone and they were up in the sky but were they in there i don't know if i believe they watched they're standing there saying bye oh you know still not convinced. I hate to tell you, but these things did happen. Allegedly. I don't know. Allegedly. What was your favorite best TV show of the year? So mine is airing right now. Um, it's called pluribus. It is by Vince Gilligan who did
Starting point is 00:06:10 breaking bad. And it was a very like long awaited show that's come out. They did like all this marketing for it but like one clip of the show that's like a 20 second clip of a woman licking donuts so nobody knew it what it was about like at all and it is awesome highly recommend i don't want to tell anybody what it's about but um you know there was high hope oh my god but of the year severance is my number one i forgot that oh god how dare you but i have a question about the show pluribus i didn't i couldn't watch breaking bad because of the dread because of like it just was too stressful and dark for me is it the same vibe it's well i don't know if it's going to get darker i've only seen a couple episodes because only a couple episodes have been out but um it's
Starting point is 00:07:03 a little bit more light-hearted than breaking bad but like it feels like breaking bad because he has such like a presence of like a creator if that makes any sense yeah but i feel i feel like you could maybe watch it it's not like too i'm gonna give it a try give it a whirl what was yours becca um black rabbit on netflix with jason bateman and jude law um jason bateman no no it's different i can't describe i like aspirational dread you know i like shiny dread that's like that's like you know there are nightclubs in new york city dread yeah like scandal so you don't want anything to be uh i don't want to watch an albuquerque yeah i don't want to watch somebody cooking meth in a trailer in albuquerque okay it's like i want to watch
Starting point is 00:07:55 things where I could see myself in the middle of them. I could see myself in a chic restaurant bar in New York City where there are weird things happening, shady things happening, but yeah, that's why. But, you know, Jude Law, he had lost it
Starting point is 00:08:11 for me for a while. Like, the holiday Jude Law was just the hottest man ever. Yes. And there were a couple years in between because the roles he chose were not hot men roles. And so I thought, oh, he's kind of just turned into this, like, old man, dowdy old man.
Starting point is 00:08:30 But he is back, baby. He is back. He is hot. Yeah. My friend dated him for a second. She said it was great. Sorry. I love this.
Starting point is 00:08:45 Okay. Mine is The Gilded Age. Gilded Age, have either of you watched it at all? Not a chance. Not for me. Not a chance. Okay. Let me just tell you something. I was very, um, I was very no about Gilded Age. I was like,
Starting point is 00:09:02 I don't like a historical. It's too hard to watch. Like I never got into Game of Thrones either because it's like, it's too much of an investment. I don't, I need something light, like that I can get into, get out of easily. Um, and then everyone was like, you will love Gilded Age because the woman who is the star of it, Carrie Coon, the character that she plays in is me, but in the Gilded Age. She's an evil genius. She manipulates the world around her. She is ruthless. She will do anything for fame, quote unquote, but it's actually like social power. You know what I mean? She's new money in New York City and it's all based on the truth. And now you can go to New York and you can go on the Gilded Age walking tour and you can see all
Starting point is 00:09:43 the buildings and stuff that they lived in. Because it was like the guy that started the Railroad and the guy that started Chase Bank. And anyway, it's fabulous, fantastical, wonderful third season. I watched all three seasons this year. Amazing. Very nice. Actually, Becca, you would be great on Gilded Age because you have that kind of like the woman, the girl that plays the niece is like, they barely put any makeup on her. You know how like Becca's face is very beautiful without makeup like she just needs a little eyelash false it's not false thank you though okay what is your best ugly trend of the year I mean mine's like everything that I wear I think at this point those thong pants yes the thong pant thong pants and then I mean listen I
Starting point is 00:10:34 love a barrel jean I think that they look good on me I know that everybody else doesn't like them but they're they work for me sorry guys I like a barrel pant you do yeah those neely low tin pants that I have I've literally like I live in them they look a little barrel shape they've been given a bad rap I think that they look good well if they're too exaggerated I think it gets tricky and they look like you want a subtle barrel yeah you know like a single barrel not a double barrel single barrel single barrel um i don't really i don't i could i have trouble thinking about this but i uggs are fully back like fully fully back and so i am wearing mine many places i shouldn't be oh i wear them all the time yeah i feel like a trash person but i'm just doing it so to me that's
Starting point is 00:11:30 you know the ones from our uh from our collection at no our dsw collection wait no i mean i don't have the same one but i have the i have mine are from dsw too look at us so lame look at us we used to wear remember when we were like we made a card that was like don't be a kitten heel be a stiletto and now we're like we've given up even on the kitten heel be an ugg well they're too comfortable. Sorry. They're so comfortable. Oh my God. So warm. Your little feetsies are so warm. Um, I actually made a mistake when I made this cause I know it's supposed to be best of the year and I put ugly trends that I hate. So I'm doing the worst of the year, ugly trend. And mine are, I can't do the page to Sorbo 90 sunglass. I, everyone's wearing it. And I know I look old
Starting point is 00:12:17 with a big sunglass on, but like go yourself. Not everyone looks good in a cyborg sunglass. and number two the capri pants we're not i'm not doing it no i'm not doing it you guys i'm not doing it i'm not sold on it you would look cute on in them a capri where it's like just tight and below the knee like that a heel yeah i know i would look cute in anything i wear but i just it just makes i think you can do it with like a long trench like a little they look pretty bad on most everybody but i think healthy can do this i think she could too i think she can pull this off but like what shoe because what a little a very simple little slidey thing and i hate my foot in a mule it and then it's open toe mule you could wear it with an ugg no you could do
Starting point is 00:13:10 a pointy toe a pointy toe mule i'm not you would look a very holly go lightly in it you know just like a little pedal pusher capri situation and listen i hate most things that are what what shirt am i wearing with it i think you should do a chunky turtleneck sweater and then like a fun like trench over it i won't you can barely see the capris yeah yeah it's like a peekaboo capri it just reminds me of like i don't know why but in 2006 i was really into wearing like a pair of long capri jean short pants and i have pictures of me on the beach in them and i'm like this is not good like no one should be wearing they're not meant for the beach obviously i don't even know what style you're talking about it was like you know it's like you know how moms love capris
Starting point is 00:14:05 like a denim capri that sheila would wear like i was wearing them in 2006 i have all these photos of me thinking it was like, Oh, look, was it in New York? Like was rainbow? Maybe it was cause we were in New York. Yeah. Rainbow on 52nd street was wearing, like we were being sold at Capri and it was not correct. Okay. What, what is your best song of the year? Becca, what cam song is the best song of the year? It's cam ever blue. So check it out. It's great. It's from a new album. jack it would be um so i sometimes get on such a good tiktok algorithm of small artists and my song of the year is from one of those small artists her name is annabelle dinda i don't think she's maybe she's released one song before this um it's called the hand it is
Starting point is 00:14:59 lyrically incredible it's like everything that i wish that taylor swift would be it's like female rage it's so smart it's so exactly what it means to be a woman um and she's incredible and she just released it on spotify annabelle dinda the hand you guys should listen to it after this she's like literally like it blows my mind how how good she is. She's probably going to be huge. Oh, I love it. Okay. Well, I was going to say Benson Boone, beautiful things because just like, no, I know, but I want to put that in the time capsule of lady. Yeah. Because it was the song of the year. Like that song, I'm sorry. It was like everywhere. And we're going to be having it in movies forever. And we're going to be like the
Starting point is 00:15:46 way we are about sugar Ray. We'll be like, remember the time when Benson, like this was the song like i think i'll go to boston i think you know that song like i know you know how we have feelings about that we're gonna have that about benson boone so i'm just saying that out loud but my favorite song of the year best song of the year vampires matt nathanson off his new record incredible it's all about people who suck the life out of you which in some circles could be me there's also a really good song by tame impala called vampires that just came out this year oh shit vampires very hot 2025 hot well and and twilight's back 20 20 years of twilight the lady gang what was your movie of the year i want to let you guys know i only saw two movies
Starting point is 00:16:32 this year i saw wicked and i saw kiss the spider woman that's it i went through it and i was like i didn't see any movies so what's wrong with that's i only saw entertainment business i only saw one non-documentary movie it was the amy schumer kind of pregnant movie um but that's not my favorite um the documentary on netflix that i just watched it's of war of waves and war it's about these navy seals who go to mexico to do this experimental kind of like hallucinogenic to heal from their trauma and it is and my friends it's called of waves and war my friend's husband was a navy seal and had a lot of ptsd and he actually went and did this and it saved his life his marriage all the things so i when i saw this i was like well i know this this is like a real
Starting point is 00:17:29 thing and then they follow these guys who have really severe ptsd and it is it's cool really cool damn okay i didn't know i've seen the title but i'm like that doesn't sound like something i'd watch me neither i would never watch it but now i will um mine is weapons it is probably one of the best movies like horror thriller movies that i've ever seen um it was another one of those things that had a lot of buzz before it came out and i'm like there's no way it's going to be this good it was that good it was perfection it's by i don't know if anybody remembers the whitest kids you know they're like a comedy troupe but it's by one of the guys it's one of the guys in that oh that's like the director is this that's so random horror movie yeah it's scary that's why
Starting point is 00:18:14 i didn't see it it has a 93 on rotten tomatoes it's so good it's so creative it's like you know how i like have a note about everything i had no notes uh it was so good so highly recommend since i didn't watch any movies this year mine is going to be uh like a mini series that you could watch as one it was the vogue in the 90s documentary on netflix there's four parts of it but they're pretty short so like you could really watch it just for two hours and it was like oh it was like anna wintour and andre leontali like doing all of their 90s vogue shit and like how they would spend like three million dollars shooting a cover and they would be like no we hate it we're just throwing it in the trash that's how rich they were like it was like opulence times
Starting point is 00:18:58 opulence opulence opulence which i just like loved i miss those days right do you know that now you have to pay to be on the cover of vogue you can buy the cover of vogue mexico for eighty thousand dollars if you want to be on it like anybody like you have basically like they in order to get the cover you have to come up it's like a star on the hollywood walk of fame sorry i'm probably going to have trouble for saying this but like uh like the hollywood walk of fame someone has to pay the $250,000 for it. So it's either like a movie pays or a brand pays or like you have a new TV show or whatever, or you pay. So it's the same thing. Now the magazine covers are starting to do the same thing where it's like, oh, if you're Timothee Chalamet and you're in the Bob
Starting point is 00:19:39 Dylan movie, maybe the Bob Dylan movie studio or the Wicked movie will pay to put you on the cover of whatever. But like there is now a fee involved to be on the cover of these magazines. Wow. No Thanks. Pay to play. I mean, I will. Honestly, if I had 80 grand, I would probably do it. I know. We know you would. I know. Okay. Best, what did we do? TV show, dupe, ugly trend, song. Oh, app. I want to just show you guys something right here. Duolingo. I'll say it in Spanish. I'm on a 220 day streak for Duolingo this year. Yeah. I'm crushing. Didn't you just say you were going to say it in Spanish? Yeah, I am.
Starting point is 00:20:22 Yo tengo clase de español cada día con mi hija. Nombre es Matthew. I do a class of Spanish with my brother each day. Oh. Nice. Okay. Good job. Mine is the Alta app because it puts together outfits.
Starting point is 00:20:46 Kelty, you could have also said that because you are an investor in it, but I'll do it for you. Thank you so much. Yeah, it's the share closet come to life. And occasionally I'll just be in such a rut or often I'm in such a rut that I think I'm so bored with my outfit choices. And I just go to the app and it has my closet all up in there and I'll give me some creative choices. Very nice. Pretty dope. um mine is boring but my chart because all of my shit is so confusing with health care is that the
Starting point is 00:21:20 one with that keeps all your health care oh my god jack yep but unfortunately if you go to different like i i go to i have some doctors at uci and then i have some doctors through providence different my charts you can't keep any of your shit in one place you can't keep them together my chart why can't we centralize this these things this is so crazy why can't there just be my chart just period period it's uci my chart providence my chart mission my chart but i but since i moved i most of my doctors are through uci so most of my stuff is in one place on my my chart app which is very nice it is i mean it is insane like we should each have just one little scanner in our arm and it's everything and you scan it, you scan it, you scan it. And like everything goes in your
Starting point is 00:22:07 little home box. I'm sure it's coming. Yeah, I know. I will do it. I'll be at the test. I don't care. I don't give a, we already know everything anyways. When I go on the internet and, and I'm trying to log in for something and they're like, your password has been in a data leak. I'm like, and what? Like, I don't even change it. I don't care. I don't know something really up. I still use the same password that i was using when my cloud got hacked and my nude pictures got out there i still use it not for any important like things but if it's like a shopping like revolve.com i'm like this is just what i'm using so come at me yeah and i'm giving up on things like if if you like i literally just quit a bank account because every time i try to log into that bank
Starting point is 00:22:55 account. It wants nine factor authorization. It makes me change the password. And then I got to log in and I got to be on Chrome. And I was like, you know what? You're too difficult for me. I would rather you steal all my money. And I know someone's been yelling at me right now. That's like, Oh, I had my data stolen. It was horrible. But like, I'm not doing it. If you can't remember, I I'm simply not shopping on you anymore. If you don't want, you want me to sign up for something? No. Also the laziest thing that I've ever done is when I got a new phone, it kicked me out of a lot of my apps because you don't need to I just chose to not use the rest like some of the apps I'm done I deleted them because I don't know my I don't want to send the new password to my email because
Starting point is 00:23:35 I don't want to have to deal with it so bye bye bye bye see you never bye yeah bye paramount plus you don't want to let me in when I wanted to watch that show I don't subscribe anymore good night farewell. I agree. I'm so lazy. Best of the year is saying fuck off to passwords. Okay. This was great. You guys, I want to tell you something before we go. We're putting all the information in our newsletter.
