Hey guys, the following podcast is a Lady Gang Network and Podcast One production, which
means it's going to be awesome.
Podcast One presents the Lady Gang, the Hollywood girl posse with Lady Gang Quickie.
Here's Kelty Knight, Becca Tobin, and Jack Vanek.
Let's make this quick.
Our guest today is probably as close to Oprah as we will ever get after working different
jobs including toy store manager typist and 7-eleven supervisor she eventually landed in
the media world as an assistant at an ad agency but this still wasn't her calling oh no no no honey
it wasn't until she landed at harpo studios that she felt truly at home working her way up she
became the executive producer of the oprah winfrey show she was the robin to oprah's batman the jelly
to her peanut butter and jelly we love bread and the starch key to her hutch together they were
unstoppable but after 20 years of dream come true job she realized she did not have a dream come
true life oh i feel this in my soul it was time for her to part ways and begin to manifest her
own destiny and while writing the beautiful no you guys saw me on instagram i instagrammed about it
it spoke to me and now she's created her own brand and media company called story with her friend
nancy the two even have a podcast together and she's living it up in napa where the glass is
always half full. Please welcome to the show, Sherry Salata. Oh my God. Okay. I know. That's
the truth. Okay. First of all, I want, I'm going to start right into the book. So you have this
life. You have the life everyone wanted. And the thing that spoke to me was you said, I have been
a part of this Oprah Winfrey world. You've had every guru, every weight loss person, every health
person, every person that was like, this is how you live your best life. And you got to the end
of your kind of rope and you were like, I don't know what to do here. I know. Well, listen, I was
not lacking information. Sure. That's the paradox. I knew everything. I produced everybody. Right.
I knew all the information across the whole board. Right. And, and at the end of the day,
you have to decide at some point that you're going to be the capital E expert of you and that you're
going to be the one for you. And there's going to be nobody else's program that you're just going
to slip on like a suit of clothes you're going to have to figure out number one what is the life of
your dreams can you believe at 56 i did not have the answer to that um i thought well i got a good
job with the life of my dream sure so you have to figure out what that is and then you have to
figure out what are the elements every day every week every month every six months every year that
make up that life of your dreams and so what what do you think is the life of the dream like what
do you think every woman should have? Well, this might not be as much an issue for you guys. You
tell me. But because I'm finding when I'm talking to younger women, my story is more of a cautionary
tale. For people who are in the middle of life, like late 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s and older, it's more
of a rallying cry. It's like, come on, you know, don't read the tea leaves out in the culture or
the world you decide what your life is going to be at each one of those decades and sometimes for
us um we forget that the the quantum metaphysical practice of dreaming what that really means which
is carving out space we're all super busy our calendars are sure from from morning till night
carving out space to just kind of wistfully ruminate on the possibilities of life kind of
saying like okay spirituality let me think about it what what is what is my dream come true practice
what does that look like when I'm fully inhabiting that area of my life and kind of going area by
area and really stirring the dream fires really dream storming and because without that what you
end up doing is you know it runs your life your to-do list sure your meetings your bookings your
responsibilities, what everybody else needs from you. And certainly I allowed that to happen to me
because I was good at it. But if you hadn't, you wouldn't have had that success. And that's
22. I know it sounds like that. It's unfair, but I, I, it sounds like that, but I don't think so
because it wasn't 24 hours a day. You know, it might've been 18 hours, but it wasn't 24 hours
a day and the way that i spent i would use that big job the oh sherry she's so busy the scripter
because everybody left me let me off the hook nobody was mad at me for canceling plans or not
making commitments or saying like i'll let you know five minutes before like that funny movie
line you know please you can't count on me till five minutes before because they're like she works
so I got away I got away with a ton of stuff but what I also did is I allowed that that validation
that big huge gold star to let me really kind of go unconscious for everything else like
relationships with men challenging bit of a struggle not really sure how to navigate while
still being ambitious and having dreams okay so then well screw that I'm not really good at that
And then, you know, like all the way down the line, but work, right.
It was working out pretty good.
Yeah.
And I felt validated and I felt affirmed and I was achieving.
So, so I could use that as an excuse and, and, and not to address the fact that I needed
to put stress relieving practices in place.
When you are doing a big job or a public job, like you guys are, that starts getting busier
and busier and busier you better have your stress relievers down cold you better have a meditation
practice that is so solid nothing can veer you from it and a workout practice that you would
never skip because those are the things that let you process that stress so you can handle it
it's so interesting that one of the things um that you talked about and we do this all the lady gang
we'll do anything for 30 days so you talked about this in the book you're like we are the queens
of going and doing like you did like the berries 30-day boot camp you did the whole food whole 30
you did a challenge and i will do it for 30 days and then giving up and you talked about that you
were like i went so hardcore i'm gonna run a marathon and then you're like and then i'm not
gonna do shit for six months that's right then i'm gonna eat only carrots for two weeks then i'm
gonna eat whatever i want like it's like an all or nothing mentality that we have as career women
too I think and that's why we're so successful in the things that we do because it's like the
dedication and determination we put everything there right and we can implement it in other
parts of our lives but only for a little while because our energy is going to the to the big job
right and I you're singing my song and I was once a big member of that club along with you
that um I remember the day and it wasn't too long ago I'm like yeah I'm really that I've just led
this all or nothing kind of life and then and then this little voice resonated my head and said
and that's why in almost every other area you end up with nothing and I was like who said that I know
who said that but that's really true that and I'm like well if I if I really want to have this life
of my dreams and I have the second half of a life to figure that out yeah and and listen you can
start living the life of your dreams when the sun comes up you get a new chance every single day
I love that every single day. It's a new it's you want to stay the old way.
Do you want a new way? But very similarly, I had to say I can see that that the path to success.
Otherwise, you're really sabotaging yourself. The path to success are lots of little things that feel good.
And this like really spoke to me when you're like, you know what?
I don't need to go manic on these workouts for 30 days. I'm just going to move every day.
right some days all i can do is walk my dog around the block right that's it but like we're so bad at
the moderation the moderation is so difficult because we're like if we're not you know why it
doesn't inspire you yeah the word moderation doesn't inspire you the idea of it but living
the life of your dreams and manifesting your joy right is very inspiring yeah and really what is
that what is that in the course of a 12-hour period when you are waking stacking up so many
feel good moments that you're vibrating at such a high level that vibration is creating outcomes
yeah sure that that's what we don't realize you know that those highs and lows those lows create
outcomes as well sure so that's what I'm where I'm doing now I have a question for you was there a
specific moment where you you hit your breaking point or was it a little a bunch of little things
where you just realized that you needed to turn it around I would say that it was over like you
You know, you know, when Oprah always talked about it on the Oprah show, it's kind of like you're sitting there like everything's good, everything's good.
But like there's the screaming and clanging and all these things that are like not working out really well.
And I have a gift just like that old all or nothing mentality.
I have a gift where I can go unconscious about something for years, for years.
And it's just like, I don't know.
I don't see.
I don't feel.
I don't hear.
Look away.
Look away.
i can't hear that um and and then all of a sudden when i have that truthful honest moment it's like
oh god jerry oh my god you said five years ago you were gonna quit smoking right before i quit
smoking five years ago you know that was the thing yeah here's what i'm gonna do and then i'm gonna
do this and then i'm gonna learn italian and then i'm gonna do this and then a year would come and
go and I'd be sitting there on New Year's Day going, okay, do I want to do all my same
things that I didn't do?
Should I just rewrite them?
Yeah.
So, and, and that really is about self-sabotage.
It's about staying unconscious and, and at the end of the day, you know what, what it
really is, what it really is, is there is no matter how successful, how driven, how
much success you achieve, there's that little self-love pot that, that isn't quite solid.
Oh my God. I love that. Yeah. It's not quite solid because, and here's why. Take me to church here? I'll take you to church, girl. Um, I was, you know, Gary Vee, right? Crazy. Gary Vaynerchuk. He's the marketing madman. Oh my gosh. You're going to look him up on YouTube and you're going to like, oh, I can't believe he's probably in your feed all the time. Okay. He had, he, and I, I just like to attribute it because otherwise I feel like everybody's saying everything of everybody else's.
i was clicking through um instagram and i was like oh gary has a quote up let me see what it
says and here's what it said and this is just when i was finishing the book i put it in the book
and i can't stop thinking about it in fact i was with a group of women we were talking about it
all weekend love yourself first love yourself most and the first one is like i feel like it's
gotten a little cliche oh yes of course i know that you must love yourself first you must love
yourself first before you can love anybody else. So I think we don't take that very seriously,
but love yourself most. That has really been just ringing in my soul because I keep thinking about,
well, what does that look like? Like a crystal that I'm turning around in the light. What does
that look like? Well, that's your daily practices. That's your attitudes. It's the tender voice that
you're going to learn to talk to yourself with. When you put everything you do, your goals,
your career your relationships uh your health and wellness practices when you put everything
through the lens of love yourself most and you say to yourself there will be no human being on
this planet who walks this earth who is going to love me more than i love myself you're kind of
good then right because you're never going to let yourself down you're never going to betray yourself
Right. You know, no one's ever going to be required to make you feel loved or lovable. All of a sudden, everybody's off the hook. Right. And you finally have that that nurturing, that support, that that count on through thick and thin that you've always been looking for.
I mean, good luck, especially in LA. It's so easy to love Los Angeles where every pretty girl from
every small town goes to be successful. Um, there's a line, there's a line in the book that
I will probably tattoo on my body at some point that I just freaking love. Um, which is when I
Instagram, like you guys all know that I'm a crazy stalker on the Instagram. And then I saw this and
I was like, Sherry, please be my best friend. I told the girls and they were like, it's so
embarrassing when you do this and i was like i just love her um you said and i might be i might
misquote you because i don't i didn't write it down i'll remember it says um i have been an
untrustworthy steward of my own well-being yeah holy shit that is the most like me and every other
person like i don't even trust myself to feed myself a vegetable yeah you know what i mean like
i can't eat like oh my god yes that was the hard reckoning like the reckoning like oh you know and
that's you know here's the great news look how young you are oh my gosh you get this now you're
just so golden so yeah so think about it that was that was a really it was a very tender a very sad
a tearful heart aching moment for me to realize like what is all this sherry what is all this
reckoning you've done you're looking across your life you've got this big fat career and
well-paid and you know, the kind of bags you have, everything. And it's like, oh my God,
I've been an untrustworthy steward of my own wellbeing. And once I could articulate that,
I was like, oh, pain. And I sat there and, you know, of course we all have that voice in our
heads. That is, you're not enough. You, why did you do that? You're really stupid. You never,
You always say that.
You never follow that very destructive, mean voice.
And I remember thinking, hush, hush, hush, hush, hush, hush, hush.
All right, I'm going to find that voice that I speak to my English bulldogs with, Bella and Kissy, who I say, hello, my beautiful darling.
Oh, my beautiful, sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet darling.
And I just started to find that tender voice.
And very tenderly, I just started talking to myself in my head, which is, all right.
so it hasn't been perfect but you've done some really great things and it's going to be okay
and you're going to figure this out but this stewardship thing is something to take very
seriously there's no one coming along no matter whether you're in love out of love paired or not
no one is coming along that is going to be the steward of your own well-being and your happiness
and your joy and your outcomes.
You and you alone must sign up for that job.
Oh, well, beautiful.
Wow.
Sign it up sooner than later.
This is the best time for us to be hearing this sooner than later.
I think it is too, because we're really hard on ourselves.
It's so competitive, you know, and we have done great things in our company and wanted
to be our own bosses.
And now that we're on our bosses, we're scared shitless.
And it's so hard.
Oh my God, I think you're so smart though.
you're so smart really thank you i also think we're also learning i'm talking we're taking
so cute we're taking that in our tender voice yes you're so smart i think that i struggle with the
most is that we know all these things deep down like we know these things but the problem is is
it's like a drug this business and the feeling that we get when we find out we get some big
deal right is like those high high high highs and you're like that feels so much better there's so
much more celebrating that than feeding myself a salad and going for a walk like those the like
highs of moderation and taking care of yourself don't I know it girl right so you're like chasing
after those big exciting things and those exciting things rarely have anything to do with
the self-care yeah well I think um that's the thing to look at it a little holistically and
that's when I say it's a little bit of a cautionary tale I'm telling you which is I had all the highs
now you're this now you're gonna be running the book club now you're this producer now oh now
you're executive producer you're running the whole show right you know all those highs and then you
know more money and better things and dinner with tom hanks and right you know blah blah you know
all that kind of stuff now you know we're all substantive enough to know that's not the be all
end all but it is adrenaline producing and it is exciting and it does feel like yes i'm doing it
that is not all there is.
Right.
And, you know, I said to myself,
which isn't applicable to you right now,
which is being someone else's something
does not a full life make.
And so I would tweak that for you
since you're entrepreneurs,
that being a something does not a full life make.
Oof.
That all these roles, podcaster,
lifestyle brand creator, founder,
um then it's not the same girlfriend partner daughter blah blah blah those are just those
are the details of your life it isn't really the w as oprah would have said who of who you are
it's you know if you if you are not in in those quiet moments doing those lean in little things
that that's the those are the fires you're tending because the stronger and the healthier
and the more centered you feel the easier you're going to be able to integrate all of this into a
real joy ride and not just, wow, that was really fun. You know, gosh, I really, you know, I really
wish I would have done some of the things I was talking about on our podcast. So how did the book
come around for you? Obviously, like the book club for Oprah was massive. You're a huge reader.
And where did you get the courage? And then tell us the story of getting it sold.
oh my gosh well it's a bit of a it was a bit of a f job for sure um i mean i i was very lucky that
the editor that i met the publisher uh karen rinaldi at harper wave um she is in the middle
of life and she's super cool like she learned to surf at 40 so she thought i had something
interesting to say yeah and a great story to tell and lots of wisdom to impart so then i went off to
the races i go for year one and it turns out it's it's it's hard it's harder than i thought and
you know i'm struggling and then like we're changing what the direction is going to be
and and after a while because i have such respect for writing and such respect for like books it was
a year ago christmas where on the night of christmas eve i was like i'm not gonna do this
i'm just gonna give them back their money let's just cancel this whole thing i'm not doing it
I don't really need this stress
and I go to bed
and it must have been like Scrooge
visiting all the ghosts of Christmas
past, present and future
because I woke up the next morning on Christmas day
and I said
wait a minute, how am I feeling about this now?
and it was like, who gets to do this?
who gets a
legitimate contract
from a great publisher
to publish their gems?
you're going to sit down
and you're going to tippy tap the keys and you're going to do this. And what ended up happening,
once I decided that I go, yes, I'm going to do this. I'm not sure how yet, but I am going to do
it. And I threw a bunch of miraculous coinkydinks. I run into a woman who overhears me talking
at a, at a, at an event. And she comes up to me and she, cause, cause somebody was like,
you know, you should really write a book. I'm like, yeah, I should, I should be doing it.
That's all my to-do list, right after vegetables.
And she came up and she goes, you know, can I talk to you a minute?
I think I can help you.
She's written tons of books, but she's also a fantastic book coach.
Oh, a book coach?
And so I met her in Oakland.
We stayed.
My dear friend is the founder of Graduate Hotels, which is super cool.
And he gave us all this space.
And we spent, like, a couple days on an outline.
and then I just had to turn in pages
every month to her
and she'd write me questions
and I just felt like
I wasn't just sitting there by myself
and then I said to myself
here's what I learned
then it was a breeze
it took me a year
being the power boss
woman who is an achiever
are you able to put the book
into the world without the expectation
because now you're turning the tables
you've been the person producing
Listen, I can't believe you like it and you read it.
Yes, I have no expectation.
You're fine.
Oh, I have no expectation.
Wonderful little things have happened.
Apple just picked it as the audio book must listen.
And I recorded it.
I was going to ask.
Oh, that's cool.
I did it.
Well, because I've done the podcast, I could.
Otherwise, I'd been like, I don't want to hear myself.
Yeah.
And then it was one of the number one releases on Amazon the week it was released just a couple weeks ago.
So, and then I'm just plugging around across the country and talking to people about it,
which is very nice.
Will you do more now that you've got it?
Well, now I, now I'm not so afraid of it.
Sure.
Isn't that funny?
Yeah.
For, for being like the big boss, I get in an arena that I haven't done something before
and all of a sudden I'm like incompetent and afraid, like, I don't know.
And I don't know.
It's, I find that so interesting that you can still be, you know, that, that I guess
when you're, and I'm happy to admit it, which maybe some people just don't, that you still,
your legs get shaky in new territory.
For sure.
Yeah.
The Lady Gang.
I'm not letting you off the hook without asking you some questions about different things
that have gone on in your life.
So first of all, who's the celebrity you hate the most?
Oh, I could never say.
Okay.
You could tell the story without saying who they are.
I'll tell you after.
Well, listen, there's more than one.
oh shit we know listen we know what that's like yeah it's like i care about how you treat the
team sure and so like i've watched that where people think you know like my my more junior
staff would think that they had made real friendships and i'm like okay you know and
then it was just like out of my way i don't know who your name is so that kind of stuff
really bothers me okay were you there for the tom on the couch jumping i was what i was not
the executive producer i so like me let me think i might have seen it on my little monitor in my
office and honestly here's how i felt that's nice that is so great
that is so great honestly i didn't understand what the hubbub was i thought you know if you're
around him he is very enthusiastic sure in a very genuine way ask anybody on any movies that he's
ever been he comes to do the oprah show you know and i don't know what goes on behind the old
scientology curtain but he comes to do the oprah show there's not a person he doesn't greet no he's
such a nice guy i've had dinner with him oh oh i had dinner with he and katie and both their sets
of parents and we played singing games like i'm like that's a salata family thing you guys do that
oh my god it's like snip snap snip snap then you've got to come up with the song
oh or you're out i mean oh shit okay tom pat all right okay um when it was the oprah's favorite
things did you get to take a haul of favorite things for you so what would happen now i think
it was different when i was ep but before i was um the the senior people the favorite things team
would divide and create these little packages for different people in the company so you know and
they were always sweet they took they always took nice care of people and i say they they did and
then i think the team still did it when i was ep that people would get little packages did you get
a car no i did not get a car um okay what is one thing so we launched our own television series on
e this past fall um and we were executive producers which was like really crazy because
none of us had ever executive produced anything in our lives um and it was a struggle to be honest
like and i think there's a reason why you start here and then you build your way up to doing that
job but there's this whole new thing when you're the talent and you've created the show you get to
be an ep and i think they thought we were going to sit back and be like cool see you on set and
we were like but who are we hiring to mic me like yeah i was like i want that person it was our baby
that we were handing over right yeah yeah and so years of work what is your like being a woman in
charge we're just talking about this the other night like we could cry thinking of some of the
conversations that went down leading up to it it was really probably the most trying times not not
for any reason or any person yeah just figuring out how to do it how to operate as a woman in
charge in this business is really complicated it's not it's it's I could absolutely see how
that would not be easy you know I had already been someone did the math for me I had already
been at the Oprah show first of all I was I was I didn't start there till I was 35 so I was probably
45 when she made me EP and I had already seen the lay of the land and it was a female heavily run
company so situation so and the show was the thing sure that was the money right so the show got a
lot of respect so um yeah I I didn't I didn't certainly have to deal with that but I did see
after when we would develop projects and I would go into meetings like a jury salata yeah no Oprah
sure and I'd be like oh my god they're so talking down to me yeah they'd like be like yeah that's
not gonna work and I'd be like well oh yeah I think it might uh let me explain to you how it
works in tv I was like okay okay so there's you know there's some there's some stuff to
through it that's for sure it's it's a it's an interesting challenge you know and um what did
you learn from it well i mean we had never been tested more as the three of us the lady gang
um but we stayed united the entire time even like the spice girls man well except that part
where jerry left we were yeah we were really united and i think that that was the first time
Because I came from the acting world where actresses will literally walk over your dying body to get to the next.
So I think everyone sort of expected that from us.
And the fact that we did that the way that we did, we'll never do it differently.
Yeah, like people would come and they'd want to be like, did you see Kelty today?
She was so aggressive to Becca.
And Becca would just be like, well, she has a point.
Like we would, we never let them like shit talk.
That was very, very, very smart.
and here's another little little suggestion that i'm downloading right now there might
must be a reason i'm saying this to you i was very friendly with two very famous female founders
who i'm not going to name because i'm not sure i i can say this um that if it was private or not
but very very famous and they've made gazillion trillions of dollars and what they did very early
on is they started going to therapy together wow because it's like shit comes up yeah you know like
I can even feel that, you know, I've known Nancy for 30 years and every now and then
it's like, you know, like we're in a little bit of a snit.
Like, are you bossing me?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Are you trying to boss me?
But that's human.
Yeah.
So you've got to, you've got to be able to work through that stuff for sure.
And there's nothing that's more important to your success than the relationship of the
three of you for sure.
Especially.
Yeah.
I think I learned to trust my gut.
You did.
Um, there were so many times where, and I mean the show turned out amazing and we loved
it and like we're so proud of it but there's so many times where i'd be like no it's okay i don't
want to be trouble right now like i i don't want to be hard like i don't want everything to be a
struggle so i'm just going to sit back and like say whatever this time and then it would just eat
me alive does it make you feel any better that i still do that really yes i know yes the worst yes
because you know what there there is a thing and and i i really don't want to be difficult and
trouble at every turn like you know you can feel when someone's like oh god there she is again with
I know. And, and, and, and, you know, there, there's, there's a, there's the whole thing,
even in what we were talking about earlier, when you're really putting together that love piece,
that there is a way to, to really not care what anybody thinks, but while you're still delivering
everything you need to say with so much love. And I am still mastering that.
Yeah. That's one of the things that the girls taught me. Cause I'm very hard and I can write
an email at 4 a.m when i'm in a different time zone that can be misconstrued is very tough yes
but like i'm like they're like just breathe like take a breath yeah talk to people reactiveness
yeah like just calm down for a second i'm like okay but i'm just trying to get shit done but
like my getting shit done can be taken in like a really aggressive way so you know you know what i
i've i had ended up with executive speak in email which is like do i really need to type the hey how
you doing it hasn't been a bloop bloop bloop you know it's like that i just get to business and
that's what nancy said she goes can you just put a little hay we did the exact same my god
ask them how they are i'm like i don't care as few words as possible it's like it's like a slap
in the face when you open it it is and i go okay you're the same we're the same person oh my god
oh god um but it is is really inspiring and i will say like what you were talking about being
a founder, doing your own thing. Like you've had so many crazy achievements in your, who you're
beside or what show you're putting on. Um, but I hope that you understand like this book, it's
your baby, but it like really touched me. You know what I mean? Like you have your own singular
thing that you've put out into the world by yourself and you should be really proud. I am
really proud. I'm really proud. I'm really excited to talk about it with people. And, um, I mean,
you could not pay me a higher compliment. It feels good. It's a big thing. Has anyone
Has anyone optioned your book yet?
Not yet.
Because you need like a series or a movie.
Do you think so?
Yeah.
It's a great story.
Okay.
Well, maybe.
Hey.
Do it.
Yeah.
I love it.
Hello, Sunshine.
I feel like that could be a good place for it.
That would be really good.
Right?
That cute Reese.
Yeah.
She's cute.
You know, I love it because it's like a woman making her way, but like at what cost?
Ah.
Ah.
Ah.
Ah.
The trials, the tribulations.
And my last question is, you've written the book.
Now that job is done.
How is dating?
what's going on tinder i can't do it you can't i can't online date i can't do it i listen i can't
pole dance yet so you know which is one of the prescriptions from dr laura berman i need to like
excavate my feminine energy i need to pole dance i haven't been able to do it yet however here's
what i do feel like i feel like interestingly when you just like bring all your most embarrassing
shit out into the light, all of a sudden you're done. You're like this. You're like, here I am.
Yeah. It's like, whatever. This is who I am. Same thing. Yeah. And so all of a sudden,
I don't know. It's like, I have less baggage. I feel more open and I can totally feel that,
that barrier of impenetrability, like all the stuff that I hadn't dealt with, you know,
I can feel it all dissolving away. And, you know, so like there, there are a couple of people that
A couple of friends in the last week, a couple of friends who have like complete eligible
bachelors.
Hello.
That sound like really nice guys.
And I'm, instead of being like, yeah, maybe, maybe in Thanksgiving, would I lose 12 more
phones?
Instead I'm like, okay, which would have been my way.
Now I'm like, okay.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Okay.
Well, she's dying.
I'm going to let you know.
I have another question.
Yes.
Any regrets in all of this?
Millions of them.
Really?
Whoever says that, I just don't believe it.
Okay.
Millions of them.
Are you kidding?
Well, that's good.
Like every single day that I could have gone up and done a yoga practice instead of talking about it.
Yes, I have millions of regrets.
The difference is I'm not sad about them.
I'm not mourning them.
I'm just like, yep, would have done that differently, would have done that differently, would have done that differently.
And I use all that as fuel for I get to do it differently today and tomorrow and the next day.
Well, I don't think there's ever a point where you have it all figured out.
No.
And you're dead.
Yeah.
But it's like, you know, I like the, I like the trying to go along as we go.
Here's the big thing though.
If not now, when?
And that's something that Nancy and I say to ourselves all the time.
If not now, when?
If not now, when?
And I, I, I did do myself a little time traveling and I pictured myself at 98 with my yoga mat
under my arm, my meditation cushion and my plant-based diet in front of me and saying,
and thinking to myself, you know, you hit that moment, you were in your fifties and you made
that decision that you were going to live the life of your dreams. Good for you. Yeah. Instead
of gosh, why didn't I do it? Yeah. You know, I'm a little creaky. Why didn't I do it? Oh my God.
I love that. Yeah. It's a beautiful way. Congratulations on everything. Um, the beautiful

hi i'm barbara aka your nursing educator on instagram i'm a registered nurse and i make
content that's all about helping nursing students thrive. One of the first and easiest things I tell
nursing students, if you haven't already done so, upgrade your scrubs to figs. Out with these stiff
boxy scrubs, in with the ridiculously comfy well-designed figs that were specifically designed
with us in mind. They're super soft, lightweight, and breathable with four-way stretch and moisture
wicking fabric that keeps up during long shifts. Pockets are exactly where you need them, the fit
feels modern and tailored, and they hold their shape wash after wash. Whether you're in class,
at clinical, or working the floor, you deserve scrubs that work as hard as you do. Go to
wearfigs.com and use code FIGSCA for 15% off your first order. That's wearfigs.com, code FIGSCA.
