Podcast One presents The Lady Gang, The Hollywood Girl Posse with Lady Gang Quickie.
Here's Kelty Knight, Becca Tobin, and Jack Vanek.
Let's make this quick.
Hello, hello, hello. Welcome to The Lady Gang Quickie. I am Becca here with Jack and Kelty.
Hello.
Hello, ladies. I'm so excited to be joined by you again.
Oh, thank you.
um something special to share well no i mean the last quickie that we did um you asked me about my
renovation and i felt like you were in a downward tailspin spiral so i really we needed to focus on
keeping becca but now i want to focus on my own spiral i knew that came with some strings yeah
of course um but actually before we get into that i do want to share with the lady gang community
you something really cool that we're doing. So we reopened the lady gang telephone line and we
called it the lady line, but I think people are confused because they don't know what to say when
they call. So this is essentially a voicemail ask the lady gang. We used to ask you to write in your
questions. Now we're making it easy. You just dial a number, leave a voice memo. Nobody's really
using text anymore, right? You're using voice text. So you just leave your ask the lady in
question on the lady line. And then we are going to respond to them on the show. Like we did ask
the lady gang for so many years because people have been asking and they've been saying we miss
ask the lady gang. So we got lots, but we got one that I love and we're going to try it out today
on this quickie, just to give everyone an example of like, this could be you. Oh, I didn't even mean
to write that. I didn't even mean to press that. Here is our first caller on the lady line.
hi guys i'm trying to figure out planning a wedding i'm six months into wedding planning
six months away from the wedding and i just feel like i've done everything but nothing how do you
just navigate like all the small little details of your wedding and you know what's going to be
timeless and what's going to be a time capsule into 2023 i'd love any advice thanks
excellent question caller let me know what's so good that's great zach martin planned most
to our wedding however this is what i'm gonna say he loves planning he loves it how did he but was
he like choosing like aesthetic choices and stuff and you just trust his style yeah i mean there
wasn't a lot of aesthetics like it was really just kind of the place we were at yeah where we were at
um okay so i will say this about worrying about if it's going to be a time if it's going to look
like a times capsule of 2023 i have news for you it will there's no such thing as timeless
no it will always look like the time around the time that it happens so just pick what you like
pick what you like looking at what brings you joy let's pull it back to maria condo
is that her name marie condo marie condo like if you i personally i love peonies peony flowers like
i just have always looked at those and they make me happy so boom i'm doing it was it trendy at
the time. I have no idea. So there's always going to be trends and it's perfectly fine. I know the
people that used Mason jars all over their weddings in, you know, 2010 aren't sitting here
today being like, darn it. I wish I didn't use Mason jars because now they're so cheesy. It's
just it. The reality is, is that you have to enjoy it for now and it's really doesn't matter. So what
you love just to its core yeah and i guess like i mean i she's farther along than i am i haven't
even started to do like details i haven't even picked a photographer or anything yet but um
like at the end of the day nobody is noticing your napkins or nobody is really even noticing
your flowers like people are just looking at your dress and they're making sure there's an open bar
and that they're fed and there's good music to dance to and that's about it like nobody is
sweating the small stuff. So that's what I'm telling myself is to not really worry about like
the little minutia of the details. Cause I'm like, cause I can spiral into that shit.
Yeah. As the list maker of the group, I would say my first resource would be going to Pinterest
and they have these great list things, which are like three months before one month before
one week before. And like, yes, maybe not everything applies, but I found that when I
was doing our wedding, that like that kind of thing really brought me a lot of peace because
I was able to go through and like actually physically like write down what those lists
were. You can just copy them. I think they probably have printables and stuff on, on Pinterest. And
like, I was able to cross off and be like, Oh, I'm not so far behind, but like, oops, I forgot
this thing. And then the other thing I would say is that you, this is for every party you throw,
but weddings too, you have to trust the people you hire. Like at a certain point,
the the place you're getting married this is not their first wedding the photographer this is not
their first wedding the florist this is not their first wedding they understand what a wedding is
if you say my ceremony's at five they're gonna have the wherewithal to like backtrack it back
like you don't have to you can micromanage if you want to but for the most part like the best thing
you can do is like make that choice like becca said like make the choice and then tell them when
it is and trust that they are professional enough to figure it out and be on time and get the sound
system. And you know, like unless you're doing like in Canada, we do a lot of like hall weddings
where everyone's responsible for every single thing. And so you're literally like buffing the
silverware and stuff yourself. But like, if you're doing a wedding and you're kind of like having
people and it sounds like you are like the, let the professionals do the professional thing and
just keep asking them, is there anything else you need for me? Is there anything else you need for
me and then you can just focus on those little homemade or cute details that are going to make
your day really special for you but you don't have to focus on like the balloon placement
you shouldn't be focusing on balloons at all to be honest with you don't have balloons at your
wedding because that's gonna do a time capsule in 2023 because i'm sure those are going to be
illegal in about five years because people do balloons at their weddings people are chloe
kardashian is doing a lot of balloons at her children's birthday parties well that's different
than a wedding you're about to see a lot of balloons in my kids birthday party um i lisa
barlow was recently on the lady gang and she's a big event at the real housewife of salt lake city
real big event planner she brought up something that i remember i was at a wedding once and she
said something that reminded me of a time that i was at a wedding where it was like worst case
scenario oh no we were outside we were outside having dinner the sun was setting and when i
tell you this was in the fall when i tell you the sun was blinding half of the wedding party as
they're sitting there you can't escape it you're seated at a seated dinner and the sun is literally
burning your skin your eyeballs everything the bride included they had to come over with this
crazy tent blah blah blah and i'm like shame on that wedding planner yeah but she says the lighting
if you're outside at all at all go there not the same time of year because you know the sun changes
like within days of your wedding be there and you make a note of every place that you don't want
people to be standing like it is that that actually was like it could have been the most
beautiful wedding ever and it ruined the entire dinner yeah that's my biggest nightmare well
getting married and direct sunlight because you're you're usually gonna have this ceremony i think
in the early afternoon right so you can have time for the dinner and the cocktail party and like
whatever and i've seen so many like videos from weddings that people just get married in the
blasting sun number one jared not great he's literally gonna be a tomato in 20 minutes no
and he sunburns like immediately like you put him out in the sun for five minutes and he's a tomato
like as he's walking back indoors that's also his biggest like fear is sweating at the wedding like
that's why we're doing it in september like he could not do like a summer summer wedding
he'll still sweat because he'll be like nervous he'll look like ben affleck at the grammys
a little different i told him he should get botox in his head so he doesn't like sweat because i
guess you can get it like above your hairline and it stops you from sweating down your forehead
anyways then does it come out other places yeah yeah but i'm like at least it won't be your
forehead like you know whatever but yeah and then also just the light like for a photo my 35 year
old face a 36 year old face and a harsh direct sunlight no thank you um that's we're looking for
we have to get married like in like some kind of a tree like a greenery or something like that
because yeah i had a girlfriend who had the most amazing wedding and she was kind of like a maker
is a similar situation becca is where she like she had the most amazing dress and she helped i
helped her like do the alterations in the dress because i'm really good at gowns just saying um
i'm really good at like figuring out what you're going to wear under your gown and how it's going
to walk and like worn the most gowns of anybody ever oh yeah i was right and different actresses
10 years ago certain seasons of award seasons you have been there i've been there in a gown i know
what works i know what photographs well i know what you know and what fabrics are good what
fabrics wrinkle anyway. So I'm really good at gown. So I helped her with a gown, but then she
was kind of a maker and she was like, Oh, I'm going to be one of those people just goes to
the flower mart and gets the flowers. And I'm going to be one of those people that just like
has a stereo system. And like, listen, I know a lot of people are doing that kind of thing for
budget, but I do believe there is a professional for every budget. And you like, there's a re like,
so her wedding was outside on the beach is freezing cold. Like did not visit during this
time of the year what time of the year was so windy i can't it was like fall it was early fall
that's my name you know because it's colder by the ocean too but it was so windy that she had
done her own flowers so she had just done vases with a little bit of water and then her the flowers
she'd gotten from the flower mart every single one of them completely fell over water all over
every table because a real florist is like no no no we got to put rocks on this if it's going to
be outside or we have to have these leaded bases so that they don't fall over like there's something
about an expert that they just know shit that you're never going to think about. And so that's
my advice. This wasn't meant to be a quickie about weddings. This is meant to be a quickie
about my house, but I'm just letting you know. I don't think we needed a full quickie about
your house. So I think this is perfect. Probably true. All right. When we come back, me.

ask what you asked before do you even care of your house yeah you said you're behind the scenes
no i'm behind on the tiktoks i know jack is behind on no i will because yeah the other day when we
started to talk about it I was saying that it's just a commitment like if we're gonna if I'm gonna
follow your journey along I I have to really commit to it because it's a lot of content
you have to turn the sound on like it's a whole thing and yeah I haven't four saved highlights
of fixing houses now yeah I haven't not done that yet so I'm kind of learning this for the first
time yeah yes so you all right so here's the thing I bought this house a couple years ago I've been
fixing it up for a few years at a very slow, terrible rate. And now I'm ready to sell this
house and I'm ready to move to a new house because I get that itch every few years. Chris and I
started looking at property in Topanga. Maybe we want to live up on it. Like, I don't know. So
I'm not, I can't sell this house for a while. I got to sit in it, but you just consider the
fires when you're looking at houses. Yes, I promise I will. Thank you. So, um, I think is
risky no i'm yeah i made a i made it for like the malibu fires yeah just fires very brushy there
that's what makes it amazing so anyway i made a promise to myself coming into the new year that
like this is the year that i'm going to create a non-chaotic space for myself because i've been
living in chaos for three years i've had floors not done i've had some sort of renovation unpainted
walls like i'm just living in chaos at all times moving shit from one closet to the next because
this closet is, you know, um, and I've had a lot of problems, not problems with this
house, but like I've had leaks and floods and all this stuff.
So I was like, 2023 is the year I'm going to finish this house.
I'm going to make it into a wonderful, welcoming, safe space for me where I can welcome people
to dinner.
I can have kids over to the pool.
I can, you know, have sleepovers, like whatever it is.
So I'm like gung-ho and I hired someone to do my bathroom, which is going to be done
very soon, which is, I think it'll be done by the end of February, which will be amazing.
That's fast.
Yeah.
he really, Corey really rocks. He really rocked it. Um, and then I'm, I'm, we're redoing the lady
gang office so that we can film video content here. Um, which is so exciting. And then, you
know, I'm painting upstairs and the kitchen's almost done. And so there's just like a lot
been going on, but I, the reason it's so chaotic is that I, instead of doing room by room, which
is what I normally do, I'm just like full on the dining room is a mess. The kitchen's a mess.
the i'm sleeping the spare bedroom everything needs paint my bedroom and my bathroom are so
we're down to one i'm gonna sound like such a fucking asshole we're down to one shower one
bathroom one working bathroom we have four in this house and one of them works so chris and
i are showering in the anyway yeah i mean yeah i know it's such a dick one bathroom champagne
problem i have a lot of retinol and it doesn't all fit in one bathroom okay so anyway you know
what's been sorry that just made me think something that's been like depressing me I want
other people to weigh in on this to see if I'm alone there's like a voiceover that someone's
been doing on social media somewhere along the way where it's like things that are great about
getting older you know it's like yeah this you're that you're wiser you're what you're richer and
I'm like it really bumps me out because now that we are rich we are old you know it's like why
couldn't i have been rich young and like 21 yeah and that is upsetting like i can actually if i
wanted to i don't want to but if i wanted to i could go to a club get the best booth exactly
get bottle service and dance on that and banquet or whatever it's called but like unfortunately
we all see for it we also know but we should we should do it they have like let's do like a fun
like a tulum yes day like we can't ever go to tulum what i heard some real news about tulum
what about the seaweed the septic tanks all of them in tulum have completely leached into the
ground so like now just don't go to tulum oh the water leaked leached so like that it's like your
septic's kind of made of concrete and so it like sucks into the ground and so basically like all
of tulum is toxic waste and they're like don't go over there because like literally all the swamps
and rivers and everything are just full of shit oh is this like a is this like an insider knowledge
just insider knowledge because i was gonna buy some property there maybe oh oh my god see shit
there's there's too much there there's too much wild card shit going down over there yeah that's
seaweed is like stacking up like 10 feet yeah you know why because of the sewage yeah it's a big
problem stinky over there i'm not making this up i got dengue fever in tulum so i have bad memories
anyway okay we should go somewhere else other than tulum no i do agree that now it sucks to be like
financially stable and also like old old because it's like yay i have this great house and all
these clothes but i don't want to go anywhere like i have to be at home by 8 p.m or else i
turn into like a pumpkin yeah no it's awful we got invited let me just tell you something no no
we got invited people want to be my friend okay i'm not going to tell you who
but after the grammys you definitely know who this person is like magazine cover famous okay
um i got invited to a personal birthday party of a very very famous a-list well i didn't chris did
But I was going to go.
And we looked at each other and we're like, we don't have it in us to go to West Hollywood and go to this birthday dinner.
And you know I know love nothing more than going to a place where I'd probably get paparazzi'd and be around famous people.
Like, that's my calling card.
And I was like, I'm too old.
Like, I have the right dress to wear.
I have a fancy handbag.
I would have fit right in.
Don't have the energy.
No.
I barely do anymore.
so are you gonna sell your house soon or as soon as it's done no i'm gonna do the whole house
and then i'm gonna see but i i don't think i'm gonna sell in like five years i'm gonna stay yeah
didn't you say you wanted a non-chaotic space because you know you would do the same thing
that you move and try to renovate and then still live in chaos no no that's what you do
i'm redoing the backyard next which starts in like two weeks and i'm redoing my pool and it's
going to be like a spanish mediterranean like raised lip white plaster square pool with like
olive tree and all the pea gravel and like it's going to be a dream so i feel like once it's done
it's going to be super dreamy over here and i need to live in it for a long time yes i have five more
years then i go to the hut anyway i love you guys um this was really fun we weren't here for a long
