Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey guys, the following podcast is a Lady Gang Network and Podcast One production, which means it's going to be awesome. It's time for a quickie. Podcast One presents The Lady Gang, the Hollywood girl posse with Lady Gang Quickie. Here's Kelty Knight, Becca Tobin, and Jack Vanek. Let's make this quick. Hello, hello, hello, and welcome to The Lady Gang Quickie. I'm Becca Tobin here with Jack Vanek and Kelty Knight.
Starting point is 00:00:27 Let's make this quick. Because we are behind schedule. We are 17 minutes late. God forbid. Kelty's upset. She's pissed. We were supposed to start recording this 17 minutes ago. I think it was seven.
Starting point is 00:00:39 We could have given them a double on quickie had we gotten on time. No. Actually, in my defense, well, in your defense, I was the one that was late. I've been puttering around here. I made a coffee. I had to pee. I had to get a chapstick, get my phone charger. It's my fault.
Starting point is 00:00:54 We were all kind of puttering around. We were eating Fig Newtons. Because Beck was finishing my salad that I had already thrown in the trash. I pulled Jack's salad out of the trash and I ate it. I just, here's what I do. I have like the worst food envy ever. Oh, me too. And anytime I'm hungry, I never know what I want.
Starting point is 00:01:11 I can't figure out and then I get something and then I'm disappointed and it's all like, but you eating that salad, it's like watching a commercial where you're like, oh my God, I want that salad. I want the salad she's eating. And so it was really convenient when you threw half of it in the garbage and I got to dig it out. it's all i ever want it's like i think i made this reference sometime but it's like watching somebody play with a slinky yeah and you're like i want to play with that slinky give it to me like
Starting point is 00:01:34 you can't look at somebody playing with the slinky and not want to play with it yourself it's true so that's how i feel about it's like a popsicle too anytime somebody's eating a popsicle what i don't feel that way about i have a wood phobia oh i know what i can't put wood in my mouth well that kind of would are you serious like i hate the um the tongue depressor depressor what is it called i think it's a depressor whatever i hate a coffee stirrer i hate a popsicle stick they freak me out like it gives me the heebie-jeebies to think about it means you're missing out on some of great life's greatest things like a fudgesicle fudgesicle going to the doctor i mean not the doctor part but that's basically it just a fudgesicle like you're just
Starting point is 00:02:19 missing out on fudges goals. Okay. Are you guys ready for your inspirational quote? Yes, I am. Here it is. Are you ready? Please inspire me. A lady game came about because there's a lot of men in suits that get to decide if we get paychecks this week, and we wanted to determine
Starting point is 00:02:35 our own destiny. You're such a bitch. Wow. That quote was brought to you by Kelsey Knight. I'm quoting my own self on our television commercial for our e-television show. Are you going to start quoting yourself from now on i'm iconic she's she's iconic oh no i don't even know what to say that wasn't even an inspirational quote no it was an answer to a question that's why we started the
Starting point is 00:02:59 lady gang i mean yes but also i just the whole vibe of it is inspirational i guess we have a television show okay we still answer to men in suits sort of yeah i mean we do technically like 100 we're not the bosses anymore by the way we wanted to create this thing that at some point we ended up getting our paychecks from guys but we said at the end of the day that's what's gonna happen it's true but you know what it's this generation and then the next generation there will be well it's because you know our executives at e are all women yeah it's cool yeah so so yay so anyway i hope you're inspired by so inspired i haven't heard that one before goosebumps over here well have you seen the commercials yet no have you seen it on tv i saw one have you been
Starting point is 00:03:52 watching kardashians and then like oh my god that's me i've seen one and it was the one i was in thank god it was and what'd you think did it feel real this is your first time on tv yeah no it was weird it still doesn't when is it gonna feel real it doesn't ever ever i feel like it won't i'll just be like oh there it is on tv yeah there's never a moment well kelty might say something different he's gonna cry there's never a moment where you're like where something clicks yeah you know what i mean yeah you think that it's gonna be waiting for it to happen yeah it won't it won't i thought it was like when we got the call then maybe when we started filming maybe when we did our first
Starting point is 00:04:31 meeting i thought it was gonna be when we had a billboard but i don't think that's happening so Someone buy us a billboard, please. All I want is a billboard. So today's quickie is going to be all about the show. When we come back, we're going to tell you all the secrets from the set. No, we're not. The Lady Gang. And we're back.
Starting point is 00:04:50 Wait. Before we start. Choking. How many times have we gotten in trouble for posting stuff on social media we shouldn't have posted? I mean, every day. Me, zero. Yes. We all got in trouble, didn't we?
Starting point is 00:05:02 Yeah. But that wasn't our fault because we were told to post it. Kelty, you did one of the dumbest things, actually. I forgot what she did. Bring that to the front of my... I don't know if I should even say it because we can't relive it. What do you mean? We had somebody seriously considering coming on.
Starting point is 00:05:17 Yeah. Okay, so, like, Kelty, dumbass, she basically, like, almost spoiled the person who was coming on the show on Instagram by saying she didn't want him. I work with idiots. No, I screwed up. I screwed up. We've all made errors in our television debut. We've made major errors.
Starting point is 00:05:37 But we've also had some miscommunications. Like, we've been told, like, four times that we could post something, and then, like, an hour later, we get told not to. Well, here's the thing. Don't send me a video to post and say, post it, and then send me an email an hour later saying, oh, no, don't post that yet. Like, either post it or don't. This is not our fault.
Starting point is 00:05:55 Or whatever. At some... Does she... No, because she's pulling... Oh. No, she's... I don't want that to fall on her. Jack's chair is on the...
Starting point is 00:06:03 No, she was not. Underneath. Can you get? I didn't want her to fall on her head. Oh, God. Orly's here today. Callie's at home because she's been so bad at the podcast, she can't be here anymore. Let's see if Orly loses her benefits.
Starting point is 00:06:15 Anyway, yeah, we've all gotten in trouble. There's definitely a communication error in the flow, but apparently that's really normal with the first season of a television show. It's kind of like everyone's finding their balls. It's like the Wild Wild Wands. Everyone's finding their balls. No one's finding their balls on this show because no one has balls. We're all searching for our balls.
Starting point is 00:06:37 I'm embarrassed, but it came out like, fa-la-la-la-la. We just really... It came out like a Christmas carol. Fa-la-la-la-la, ba-balls, balls, balls. Oh, my God. What the hell? Balls, ba-balls, balls, balls, balls. I'll send balls.
Starting point is 00:06:50 We have never spent this much time around each other ever before. It's awful. It's horrible. It's really terrible. I was like, we have to see each other every day of every week. My mom goes, you know what's so great about the Lady King? like you guys come together and you make this great show but you're not really friends i was like oh my god mom we're friends none of us have like friends like adult like we're we're adult
Starting point is 00:07:10 friends we're like we don't have to see each other every two seconds also we don't need to catch up when our career within the lady gang is literally catching up like what are we gonna go out to coffee and like be like so what's new our coffees would be so boring just be like crickets it would just me making less than the two of you rolling your eyes yeah that's basically what the podcast is yeah that's true anyway okay so i would like to just before the break you were talking about seeing yourself on tv and it never feels real and then you two bitches were acting like i'm probably like oh my god it's so real in my veins i feel it coursing through my body and i feel the fame you know i'm just gonna shut you down and say that i also don't feel like it's ever real
Starting point is 00:07:50 for instance every year when i host the thanksgiving day parade we go back to the hotel room and that's about the time that actually like comes on tv for like the east coast because they just play it all day right yeah so it's like kind of my thing where like i host this parade for four hours and it's like the most insane four hours of your life because you're on live tv for four or straight and it's so exciting and wonderful and you're on this high and you go back to the hotel and you shower and we just like lay in bed and get lay down for a nap and it turns on and then i see the girl on the tv and i was like it feels like two different people you like watch yourself after doing four hours well no it's on i want to see what it looks like see the shot
Starting point is 00:08:27 like i don't watch another four hours okay i know what you don't watch like see if your brooch is looking okay my brooch is looking cute i'm not wearing a brooch this year you're not right off jack don't you wear brooch every year isn't that your thing no i've only worn a brooch once and such a big deal about it i feel like it was every year get back to the hotel after and i watched it I was like, the brooch was a mistake, so I knew for next year. Last year, I wore this beautiful plaid cape, and I got like a hundred emails. People asked me where they could get it, but it was Vintage. Anyway, I'm not wearing a f***ing brooch this year.
Starting point is 00:09:01 What are you wearing? Can you talk about it? Yeah, I'm wearing... Or is it secret information? Well, I like to show people up, like on Thanksgiving, but I'm wearing a jacket. Oh, cool. Okay. Wow.
Starting point is 00:09:10 Cool. It's a style of jacket I've never worn before. It was my backup jacket from last year. That's how chill I am in my new chill life, guys. I'm not even getting a new jacket, a new tailoring. Got to pick the hottest style. I'm using my backup jacket from last year because I'm like, it's good enough. So chill.
Starting point is 00:09:27 You're not, but that is surprising that you're not getting like a whole new wardrobe. Well, it's not here yet. I did buy three hats. Okay. Well, there. Are you going to do a hat outfit change? No, but I was like, I kind of want to do those like headband things where it's just like the headband, but your hair is out and it's pretty, but also I have a giant forehead.
Starting point is 00:09:44 so there's room for a headband i always am thinking like maybe i want to wear earmuffs and then i put an earmuff on and you're like i'm like ariana grande like instantly 16 yeah you can't do an earmuff adults can't have an earmuff did you wear an earmuff in your christmas movie no i don't think i ever wore an earmuff i wore an earmuff in the christmas episode of glee though and there's photos everywhere and i look like an idiot okay i kind of like an earmuff you would because it's like it depending on the outfit like an earmuff with a matching fur boot I think you actually wore that to Becca's rehearsal dinner. Wait, did I wear it?
Starting point is 00:10:18 I think I might have worn earmuffs. And we were inside the entire time. Let's see. What is, what are you looking at? Looking up Becca Tobin, Kitty Wilde, Christmas episode, Glee. Okay, so what have you thought of shooting the show, Becca? That I miss scripted television. How dare you?
Starting point is 00:10:33 Has it been weird, though? Because you've spent. Yeah, I got to be honest. It's not, I'm not. Thrilled. No, no, no. It's not that. It's not that.
Starting point is 00:10:41 I'm very spoiled. i have only done high budget network jobs where you have a proper trailer somebody is steaming your clothes for you you show up in your pajamas you don't have to think about bringing your clothes for that day you don't have to change in a car like there's things that i really love about scripted high budget television and none of those things i'm not ungrateful because i'm having the time of my life but it's a grind and it's also not as much money as network television so it's a double whammy but when i'm waking up in the morning and i'm hauling all my shit to my own car you know there's moments where i'm like this feels like a job do you it is a job like the
Starting point is 00:11:32 lady gang show what we filmed so far is a good representation of the podcast like do you think if people like the podcast they would like the show uh i think it i think so it depends on the editing i was gonna say they could edit us to make us look so dumb we don't even have to edit ourselves on this to sound dumb that's true so they edit us and we look so smart god i hope so i don't even know like i probably said one big word the entire time i mean maybe i don't even use big i don't ever use a big word so you use big words sometimes yeah you should try to use more yeah i'd be like throw it in there make me tomorrow be like what's the most impressive word that you ever use like when you use it you're like yeah um i feel like a word this is not a
Starting point is 00:12:16 big word but i always use the word binary like when you're i'm like talking about something like that's either like black or white i always say oh it's it's binary like it's gonna happen or it's not i feel like that's a smart way of saying something or syllables back away you got nothing i don't think there's one impressive word in my vocabulary onomatopoeia it's one of my favorite words do you know what it means is that like a caterpillar it's a tiny little onomatopoeia onomatopoeia is one of those words that sounds like what it is like slap or pop is it oh my god i hope it is no that sounds right back on your phone that sounds right um i think my biggest word i don't know what it is but i okay yeah am i kelty are you excited about nobody asked me
Starting point is 00:13:07 i oh i thought we already kind of covered you but okay jack jack how's it been for you first time in tv so you're not spoiled you have no idea that they're supposed to be like a fruit basket and like yeah like us to snack they're supposed to be like gourmet we show up in the parking lot this is great um i'm like is there craft services and they're like there's some cheetos there's a i literally go buy my own lunch yeah yeah i didn't know that that was even supposed to be covered yeah it's gorilla style yeah yeah it's the wild wild west down and dirty um i'm not used to being up so early i'm not used to uh well i usually get up i get up at like 6 30 usually every day but before that is when it really kills me so if i have to get up at like 5 45 i'm like oh my god
Starting point is 00:13:50 it's like i'm getting up at the crack of dawn but i usually get up like 30 minutes later anyway you lay around in bed and email and whatever like getting up and getting out the door at 6 a.m is different yeah because i like to sit in bed drink my coffee let it do its magic before i do anything she's got to have a morning poop the lady tv schedule it really messes up my pooping schedule because then i have to it doesn't happen unless i'm laying in bed and that's when a trailer comes in handy yeah because then you can like poop in your own trailer oh god i'm bloated this tv show is making me bloated uh my mom it's exhausting i don't know how you do anything that you do because the even filming like three days a week i'm like i am so burnt out mentally and
Starting point is 00:14:32 emotionally that like once we leave i'm like i don't want to talk to anybody the style in which we're doing it is the most draining yeah like it has to be and that's just the nature of what it is but it's like it is 100 more draining for some reason than anything else i think it's we have to be not been anything else on the world but any other entertainment yeah whatever well it's like we have to be on we have to be our funniest selves but then there's no script so it's like it's all coming from you we're our own writers we're writing it and we're producing it and we're starring in it it's awesome guys it's so talented i know it's a hard knock life how is it for you kelty thank you for asking jack i wanted to continue on and not do that never why couldn't
Starting point is 00:15:15 you read my mind god damn it how is it kelty um honestly at the beginning it was very much a challenge because as you guys might have noticed i'm a control freak no and just getting well also here's the thing it's like being in a relationship with someone for 10 years and then going having sex with someone else i mean i don't know what that's like but like you know if you feel like a long-term boyfriend and then you have your first kiss with someone else and you're like oh that's not like the kiss i'm used to i think that i'm like very used to like the daily news way of doing things like and i've taken it for granted that being on a show that's been around for 38 years now it's a well-oiled machine wait entertainment tonight has been on for 38 years 38 season that's
Starting point is 00:15:58 insane so it's like i'm just really used to everything has a place i know exactly like who to go to for everything like if i'm asking a question approval about a photo i know who to go to if it's an edit question for the opening yeah i know who to go to if it's a voiceover thing like i know who to go to for travel i know who to go so learning a new gang of people and wondering like who should i go to um is kind of difficult and then also i think i'm just used to this like very fast-paced daily show where people are constantly like just yelling at each other but like in a nice direct way yeah and like this show it's just it's a little more chill it's a little more like hey we're gonna figure it out and like i'm just not good at that you know i'm
Starting point is 00:16:36 not good at the like we'll get there when we get there like i want to have the whole thing planned till december yeah i want to know when you're getting like i you know so that's been like hard for me but i think now that i'm over the hump of that i'm actually like really enjoying myself and i think it's such a gift for someone like me who has been like reading words off a teleprompter for a decade to be able to go out there and like be myself yeah i kind of hate myself a little bit like i i think about the things i've done and said and i'm like oh god i'm such a loser but i just gotta give it up but i feel like let go and let god i think that that has been something that like i've really had to learn too because it's like i'll go back and replay things that i've said
Starting point is 00:17:17 but it's like you just have to let it go like it's happened you can't change the past true hope that they don't like this podcast yeah screw it and it's really cool yeah no but it's true and it's like i've just kind of leaning into like that i'm a nerd and i'm a little nutso and and i have to say like we have an amazing team and um it's been cool like there's something really cool about it it's also weird that like e gave us a show when every other show is like mega mega celebrities already i'm like do they know what they're doing people are gonna be like who the hell are these random people yeah like busy phillips and like ashley and evan yeah chris and have laurie and then it's like three unknown girls talking about a fart
Starting point is 00:17:59 we need to save that because like if somebody ever asks us to describe the show what's the show three unknown girls talking about a fart it's true it is so good thank you e for having faith in us oh my god we won't let you down can i have a trailer next season i need a trailer i never even knew we're supposed to have a trailer we're not supposed to no we probably won't ever get one with reality tv sorry dude um last thing before we go i do want to say that i ran into rupaul last weekend and i was doing a junket in a hotel a movie junket and he was sitting in the in lobby and i have to tell you just the story about it because it came around to lady gang and then um so we're sitting there and he's in this like amazing three-piece suit like he always is
Starting point is 00:18:44 and i like walk in and i look at him and i just yell rupaul oh my god like not yelling but just myself like but i did say it out loud like i didn't just go oh there's rupaul i looked at him like a like a beast in headlights like i've spotted rupaul and then i just went rupaul and then and then i went back to the lobby and i was like oh um i'm here for the press junket where is it and i was like okay and then i found my producer and i was like well they're like oh please wait in the lobby and i was like oh my god that's where rupaul is and i just walked in and looked at him and went rupaul and then ran away you're a psycho i was like oh my god is this after that you saw him like that you did that instagram story with him in it
Starting point is 00:19:22 that uh no it was before it was before okay so it had been since he was on the podcast yeah i've seen him and so of course i'm like oh my god i'm so embarrassed and i was like well he's not gonna remember me i don't know so i was like fine i'm gonna go over and i was like hi rue it's kelty from the lady gang he's like oh my god oh the lady gang he stood up in his sweet self and he grabbed my hands and he was like you are killing it i am so proud of the gang oh my god you're Getting your own TV show. I'm so proud of you. He knew we were getting a TV show?
Starting point is 00:19:53 Yes. And he was like, tell the girls hello for me. I'm so happy for you. And then he was like, how's it going? And he wanted to know every detail. And I was like, you know, it's a struggle for me because I'm a control freak. And he was like, Kelty, you just follow your gut. He's like, you know, when I started my show, there were things that people were like, you should do this.
Starting point is 00:20:12 If you do this, it'll be good. And I followed my gut. And if it doesn't feel good in your gut, then don't do it. But it's hard. It's not easy. especially when you're the star and i was like oh my god rupaul i cannot cry with you right now it was so sweet and so sweet that he remembered and like he's nice what a guy he's a cool dude man he's great love him love him i hope he comes on our show me too i know me too please
Starting point is 00:20:36 please please listen um okay on that note so do we want to like tell say anything about the show like you're not going to be disappointed well you might be you may be disappointed yeah we how about this if you guys please tune in it it makes a big difference with like social media so if you're watching and you see something that you love like let us know we're gonna like try to respond to everybody while everybody's watching it yeah i deleted my twitter so did i so it's kelty on twitter the rest of us are on instagram we can do instagram but yeah i think that like what people don't realize is that like the success of a show it relies pretty much on the fans and the people watching and like our og lady gangers who's it's you guys yeah well
Starting point is 00:21:21 especially for us because we're not celebrities we're not going to get that lit right viewership right so it's like we need everybody to go out there tell their friends about it have viewing parties and pimp us out yeah for sure and then we have a new instagram for the tv show it's at lady gang tv so you can follow that and of course follow us at the lady gang and we also in the next two weeks are going to be spoiling you guys, which with presents for watch parties and all kinds of cool stuff. So please stay tuned for all the details. And we can't wait for you to join us on October 28th at 1030 p.m.
Starting point is 00:21:56 We're going to be television stars. OK, well, we're not here for a long time, but we're here for a good time. It escalated quickly.
