Podcast One presents The Lady Gang, the Hollywood girl posse. With Lady Gang Quickie, here's Kelty Knight, Becca Tobin, and Jack Vanek. Let's make this quick. Hello, hello, hello. Welcome to The Lady Gang Quickie. I am Becca here with Jack and Kelty.
Starting point is 00:01:19 We're in a new location right now. We're fancy. we're currently sitting in the four seasons in beverly hills waiting for an icon that icon is i'm not dreaming a stupid cupid i feel like when you're singing to that other song the lyrics were completely wrong probably that don't impress me much anyway this quickie's not about shania nor is she in it yeah no we're just sitting here waiting so we thought we would like recap our trip to new york yep we were recently there for some book stuff act like a lady buy it now ladygang.com or anywhere
Starting point is 00:02:03 books are sold um and we uh we were in new york city and we had a lovely time and i flew in coach you did first time in a decade do you want to say how you felt about it honestly it wasn't that bad but i will say it was my first delta flight in i mean i had to fly to atlanta and delta before but it was my first delta flight to new york and it wasn't bad well just in case anybody missed the episode where we talked about it kelsey kelsey lost kelsey katie knightley lost her concierge key american airlines status now we're flying delta so now we're flying delta which is great Because Becca and I are Delta flyers. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:43 So the only thing that was really different was that normally I go through like special entrance and like a dude helps me through security. Not normally. Occasionally. Well, anytime I'm flying LA to New York. Okay. Yeah. So do you really need that extra help?
Starting point is 00:02:58 Honestly, it was nicer. It was nicer. I find it to be weird when people do that for you because then you have to small talk. Yeah. I don't small talk. Well, then that's awkward. Yeah. But I will say we flew in a premium economy, and I worked the whole way, and it was delightful.
Starting point is 00:03:12 It's just like sitting in a seat. They have a delicious cheese plate available. But Kelty actually gave hers up. Yes. Oh, my God. Are you going to say how nice I was? She did a nice deed, surprisingly. But I made her.
Starting point is 00:03:25 No, I was going to. Anyway, I asked you because I wanted to know if we were going to eat the cheese later. Tell the story. Tell the story. No, this is how it went. so we got our cheese plates and it was a it was a choice between listen to this a cheese plate or a pastrami i don't think anybody should be eating meat off of a plane you ate chicken last night i didn't eat any of the chicken okay i ate the vegetables that came with the chicken okay
Starting point is 00:03:51 you know how weird i am with meat in general i know when i heard you order the chicken dish last night on on delta i was concerned no i ate none of the meat okay but it was like a nice curry sauce yeah yeah so kelty and i get the cheese plate naturally because who's going to eat a pastrami sandwich on a plane monsters and um kelty gets hers but she tucks it under her seat she's not going to eat it right away i open mine up and i snack on it for a little bit and then this really sweet lady across the aisle from us apparently missed service service she missed the service and so she asked the flight attendant she's like does their snack like where'd it go and she's like they missed you oh my gosh and she goes we only have the pastrami sandwich left and
Starting point is 00:04:29 the woman's face was like no i'm okay and then i just started to feel sad and i asked kelty i was like are you gonna eat your cheese that's not what happened yes it is yes it is i alerted you that the woman wanted a cheese plate you were just sitting there i believe no kelty in my mind this story this is like being married to zach martin how to go in your mind you're gaslighting me i went under the seat i heard the pastrami sandwich conversation i went under the seat i turned back and said, should I give her cheese? No, no, no, no. I, I swear on my mother's life that I looked at you and I said, should we give her your cheese plate? Oh, you know what? I correct myself in my mind, my mind. You were considering it. I was already thinking I should give her my cheese
Starting point is 00:05:12 plate. And then you turned and said, should we give her the cheese plate? And then I went under the seat and got the cheese plate and gave it and got all the awards for it. And Becca got nothing. So it doesn't, it doesn't even matter that it was Becca's idea. Cause it was your cheese plate. So yeah she did sacrifice it i just and i was i was hungry well you weren't eating it so you obviously weren't that hungry saving it for after i finished with because when you're an economy what i realized is that your area oh my god what your area to spread out your belongings is much smaller i mean no shit i was in an aisle seat and so i couldn't have my computer and the cheese plate available at the same time it was working or cheese and so i picked working you're welcome
Starting point is 00:05:49 bitches and then no one asked you to work on that becca do would you like to tell everyone about the becca becca nightly um book club becca nightly book club the becca book club you just read amazing oh you guys i did read a great book i mean everyone's sick of hearing about it by now but i finished it on the flight last night ladies who punch it's the tell all about the view and wow if you want a juicy story have you started it jack not yet did you give her your copy yes it's actually it's not even my copy it's tracy's who runs the stacks podcast oh cute because she was like you're gonna like this i know i'm late on the game but i actually kind of enjoy reading books after the craze because then you're not going everywhere and people aren't talking to
Starting point is 00:06:33 you about it and like you aren't hearing about it you just get to discover it on your own a little bit i've just heard about it you should definitely peer to our book well there's no plot with our book yeah it's not like there's a plot twist you guys are really just killing me well it's it's non-fiction well i guess the tell-all is too but it's it's a he's telling a story we're telling short stories um do we want to talk about kelty's tiktok which one she's not really done reviewing the book oh oh it was just it's great if you grew up in the generation like we did where the view when it started was like the first of its kind and as i was reading it i actually felt like without knowing it barbara walters really paved the way for us because she was the first woman who
Starting point is 00:07:23 um kind of created this format for daytime television that wasn't like jerry springer or judge judy where like it's just drama and weird people and then it's also she brought this news these news people together these journalists but they were allowed to be opinionated and it was like women because normally like meredith vieira like is a straight-up journalist she can't share her feelings about it she just has to report the story yeah so it was like the first time that women could sit around educated intelligent women and like give their opinion on what was happening in politics and like the world and um they were pretty irreverent for the time and so we thought we really paved the way but really it was barbara i don't think we thought we paved the way for
Starting point is 00:08:04 anything no but this is a new resurgence of like right you know no being able to do that and Without them, then we would not be able to do what we're doing, which is kind of exciting. Yeah. That's good. We came up with a new saying for Jack. What? Onlychild.com. Oh, yes.
Starting point is 00:08:22 Onlychild.com. It's when Jack does something that's like so Onlychild, we just say Onlychild.com. Whatever. Do you know what's funny is that Jack and Zach have a lot in common. Are you seeing Onlychild? No, but there was a lot of time between him and his two older sisters, so he was sort of raised like an Onlychild. And only in the youngest together probably makes for an interesting combo.
Starting point is 00:08:45 So, like, I think some of the stuff is, like, with Jack, when she, like, when we pick on her and then she, like, goes volatile, she, like, freaks out on us. Whereas, like, Kelty and I. That is true because I never knew what it was like to be picked on. Yeah. So I take it very personally. She does. Because your parents were like, you're the best and the prettiest. And there was no one around to be like, and those are noogie.
Starting point is 00:09:06 Be like, and you can suck. like when my sister would look at me and be like ew you just look gross today you're just gross you know i've realized that there would be like give me those barbie dolls and then you burn them in a fire in the backyard like you didn't have that kind of trauma i just realized that right now and i also realized that jared can't pick on me either like i roast him till he's burning in a fire and if he dares even saying one little thing back to me i'm like uh-uh no not allowed you got to learn how to take it i know because you dish it if you were someone who who didn't dish it i'd be like fine you're you don't have to learn yeah but it's like with zach too like
Starting point is 00:09:41 he is so reactive but he'll like pick on me all day long and then i'll say something to him and he like flips out and it's also because he had two older sisters this could also just be a male thing with like an older sister like he was doted on like those they did not make fun of him until way later in life so he's not used to criticism right so it's like yeah i think there is something about like the skin gets very thick when you have like an older sibling who hates you yeah pulling your hair like every other day my sister fucking hated me like she would have her friends over and all i would want would be i would beg her i'd be like can i just sit there and i won't say a word i won't even i just want to be in the room while you play super nintendo yes exactly and she'd be
Starting point is 00:10:23 like no you're so lame and then she'd slam the door and i would sit in the hallway and i would write her notes and i'd slide them under her door and i'd be like if you let me come in i'll just be quiet and i'll do i'll do whatever chores for you for the whole week if you just please let me sit in the room and my mom was like it was the most pathetic thing i've ever seen in my life so pathetic very very similar story with me growing up like with campfires so in the summer we'd be at our lake house and like all the tweens would like get to have their own campfire and then my parents would be like at our cabin they'd be at the friend's cabin and i was caught in the middle because it was like no one wanted me and i'd be like can i please just no i'll just sit by the
Starting point is 00:11:01 fire like i'll just take a s'more and they were like no we don't want you you're pipsqueak and then i think i think they were stealing booze to be honest oh they didn't want sure they didn't they don't want me to rap but like i would have never read it no in my soul of souls i still know things that went on that summer that i haven't told taking it to the grave i specifically remember me being this is so sad so they finally let my mom like force them to let me and there's like 10 neighborhood kids or whatever so we're all sitting around the fire and then they're like there's something happening behind the house we have to go check it out and so like everyone they left you left and i think they all went to drink behind the garage and i was just at the fire
Starting point is 00:11:36 myself and then i was like still sad oh my god i don't want to be here anymore and i was like i had even gone into my mom's makeup bag and got a little bit of her like shimmery lipstick and put it on your back oh my god with the big kids there is something that's ego crushing about being a younger sibling. Ego crushing. But it probably sets you up for some sort of success because when the world crushes your ego, then you've already felt it. But like when the world crushes my ego, it's a new brand new thing and I can't handle it. It's not fair. Not fair. All right. When we come back, we're going to talk about our foray into TikTok. The Lady Gang. All right. We're back. Must we? We are TikTok influencers. Well, I think we do
Starting point is 00:12:22 need to talk about kalty's sexual tiktok no we need to talk about all the tiktoks we should well we kind of talked about it with the girls on the morning toast oh we did yeah um so we joined tiktok i'm the most followed well that's also i'm the only one that's verified because you refuse to write the person to verify no because she's literally in dm terms with a lady gang listener who works for tiktok and this asshole the only child.com decided to get herself verified not ask for us no i had to ask for one favor at a time i asked to change your name that's and then that was a whole fiasco so then i'm letting it sit for a while before i ask for another favor okay anytime i get a hookup i let you guys know a first thing i do too true i do too i will get
Starting point is 00:13:06 you bitches verified thank you i just wanted my one moment while kelty has the most followers for some reason i've gone viral already my face video how do you know because if you get more than like 50 000 views are we sure considered viral i think viral is supposed to be like claudia was saying like 500 000 views okay that's rude yeah well here's what's confusing to me about tiktok is like it's not an order well yes you can post whenever you want but instagram like when it started there weren't so many like really really really famous people on instagram like it was like the actual celebrities had a lot of followers but like the everyday people didn't really like they had to come up with like a gimmick like girl with no job claudia had to like
Starting point is 00:13:46 get very inventive and like work on this thing for probably years years until she was discovered for her clever posting on instagram and i like respect that and so when people have a big following on instagram i'm like they did something to get it but then on tiktok it's like they did the renegade that's not well and the thing was yeah well i think that there's one thing one instagram when it was started it's like social media was like a new thing and it's like you had to do that you couldn't just be a random person that went viral on instagram but with tiktok it is crazy because you don't even need to do something good to go viral no you just have to do a stupid dance why i feel like it's the platform for me yeah no this is the thing in my life where like little by little
Starting point is 00:14:31 it's trickled in as i've gotten older where i'm like oh this makes me feel kind of old like oh this makes me feel kind of old tiktok is the thing where because it's so foreign to me and i cannot understand the appeal that i feel like this is how my parents felt like yeah but but i will say becca when we were in new york we i took a tiktok of you and you were like just doing super modern you were kind of around but like i feel like you have an opportunity here to be the first chic tiktoker like you could make all chic but she doesn't want to be serious i don't really want to be serious i know but you have such great outfits so if you just did the supermodel walk and you're cute but here's my issue with it if i felt like there was like an algorithm and a reason for
Starting point is 00:15:13 people getting famous on tiktok i would be more inclined but the fact that it's like you could be a dipshit who dances in your like trashy living room and still get fame or you could be like calculated and really planned out and like direct these beautiful things i just don't think that the more calculated you are the worse it does well there's no rhyme or reason yeah and i don't like that i think that it's in our my bones to like really think things through and to try hard to make something good not just like throw shit at a wall and see what sticks because frankly it's all of us threw shit at our walls on tiktok and the shittiest like the weirdest thing stuck yeah that's for sure no it absolutely did but we did find our new favorite person on tiktok
Starting point is 00:15:55 oh my god you guys wait what's his name q park q park the best person on tiktok is the monkey well the the monkey is amazing wait what monkey gaitlin gaitlin the monkey is is it like a chimpanzee she's a monk i don't this is gonna sound ignorant but like i don't know what kind of monkey she is but she lives at home she wears a diaper and he she like she gaitlin ray oh and washes her hands and she gets mail and she opens the packages and she plays with slime oh so smart she's like so so is it like the dog that can talk way better it honestly like i haven't checked i haven't checked on hungry for words in a few days because i've been so into gateland the monkey okay you gotta but this guy q park he's the best is truly incredible he lives in new york city he's
Starting point is 00:16:42 some sort some kind of businessman because he's in a suit and tie in a lot of these videos he's hilarious and he'll go in the middle of like times square and he'll sing at the top of his lungs and like recreate ariana grande videos or like a dualipa video so he's like not like i can't explain it well i think what he does is he has his headphones on and he's like but he does like some of the dances like quietly with the headphones and then all of a sudden he just starts busting like screaming in his terrible voice should i play ones yeah it's pretty good and then it just zooms into everybody's face in the background being like what the is going on his dancing is so funny like i love him so so so so much if he could just come to the
Starting point is 00:17:33 laney hang in new york i would oh my god we need over yeah act or the monkey and honestly we might be his opening act he has a shit ton of followers yeah he has like seven million followers but like also this i like because he has a he has a gimmick he's his thing and it's comedy gold yes but this is what i do think about tiktok is there's so many fucking tiktoks now that there is one for anything that you want so it's just finding the niche and because this guy makes me happy watching 15 year olds do sexy dances does not make me happy what about watching kelty do a sexy doing watching kelty do a sexy dance that was originally done by a 15 year old makes me really uncomfortable 7200 views let's read some of the comments go kelty oh god the rocket skills are
Starting point is 00:18:16 coming out i think you're getting better oh my god please do some beyonce contact who is this new queen you go girl queen kelty yes get it kelty throwing it back like a boss oh my god you're my favorite you're skipping over some the bad one just said hello anyway there was i'm not ever doing it again i just wanted to see if that was the what works for your niche and it's not sexy no and it was like is i've never been someone who looks great in a bikini so i could never do a bikini instagram and though i know those girls on instagram get a lot of followers just because they're in a bikini or their underwear i couldn't meet that person you posted a picture of yourself in a bikini as your icon i know because i'm trying
Starting point is 00:18:56 to get followers wait but you do look good in bikinis thanks you do yeah yeah you definitely do yeah so i'm not giving you permission to start posting in it but but her icon still is a picture of her in a bikini because you wanted to see if sex sells yeah i'm trying to see if sex sells it does if you're 14 yeah again someone needs to have sex with an old lady and i'm available on tiktok all right well on that note thank you for following us each on tiktok at kelty night at jack vanek at becca and that's also yours is only at kelty it is isn't it that's so nice yeah i think i'm at kelty um we're so excited and we are so excited to interview shania twain she's coming soon and we'll let you know how it goes or you'll be able to listen to the whole thing so
