Starting point is 00:00:00 It's time for a quickie podcast one presents the lady gang the hollywood girl posse with lady gang quickie here's kelty knight becca tobin and jack vanik let's make this quick hello hello hello welcome to league and quickie i am becca here with jack and kelty happy birthday becca your birthday is in four days your birthday is in four days how old are you 38 37 don't age me sorry rude um you know what's just so bleak what is i popped open to my computer to start working and in the bottom corner you know like the toolbars on the bottom yeah on the bottom right hand side is two like thumbnails of audition an audition that i did a couple weeks ago that i obviously didn't get the job but it's like where did this come from
Starting point is 00:00:56 i have no idea why i it was i literally did it filmed it on my phone and sent it away it never made its way into my computer and now it's here taunting you heckling me and taunting loud like happy birthday bitch just another disappointment it's like a failure it's like when your phone does like a slideshow of like your toxic ex and you're like why why must you do this with this music in the background it's kind of like that on this day bring you down on this day you failed in these three ways you wasted many years of your life oh god on this day you had this eyebrow so nice it's skinny eyebrows they're back i know they are i will not be participating i mean i'm not participating either dude i'm definitely not i'm not i'm not doing
Starting point is 00:01:50 anything i mean i don't think i really have the option but i think okay you just need to let your eyebrows like sit in the natural way that they grow like just just let them be the way that they are yeah yes embrace it embrace it okay what are we doing today so today is a time lady gang time capsule. I came up with this idea in the middle of the night and I was like, okay, I mean our whole podcast is a time capsule. Cause you can go back and be like, listen to the first episode and all these things. But I thought it would be really fun for us to sort of do these time capsule things. And then everyone at home, I want you to also write your time capsule, write it down or like take notes in your phone and then put it away. And then like, you can take a look at it
Starting point is 00:02:32 in like 20 years i'll be really cool okay are you ready okay things i collected as a child oh this is fun roly-polies was one of mine dead or alive holy alive a bug a pill bug there's not a little black bugs and they go into a ball when they're scared is it a dung beetle no no they're teeny what else is it called they're so cute roly polies okay jack would be living in california be like i collect bugs okay oh my god i had like a whole little farm of them with like hundreds i would collect them and put them in the little farm they're just so cute they look look like little balls they're called how'd they get water yeah they're a lot they like lived for a long time i take care of them i love
Starting point is 00:03:22 them you were a captor i was a captor um i collected wait for it bells bells no my mom still has why what i have no fucking clue okay but i collected bells and i had I would say close to 50. My mom still has them because she's like, I don't know what to do with them because it's such a weird thing. Oh, my God. I have such a good idea. What?
Starting point is 00:03:59 Becca, you need to get a stick from the forest and you need to put twine coming down and you need to put all the bells in rows of five by five or five by 10 and make your own wind chime of all your bells and have it in your yard. They're so breakable, though. oh it's like porcelain bells it's like porcelain some are glass some are whatever like it's so crazy I'll see if she has a picture that she can send it's wild and then I also collected rocks like beautiful everyone yeah I feel like that's just like a thing that kids do did you have one of those boxes I had like a special collection box which was like had like this beautiful like
Starting point is 00:04:40 mountainous mural and then you open it up and it's separated into little cubbies for your different types of rocks. It was like my most treasured possession. I love that. Did you ever do like the rock tumbler where you made them all smooth and shiny? And we would go mining. There's a place called Delonica and it's in Georgia and you go and you have your little sifter. And I wonder if that they still do that. They've got to. Oh, for sure. I mean, you can do it at Knott's Berry Farm. Yeah. Fun times. Get yourself some gold. You know, I want to let you know that Chris Knight is also into rocks and i have three of those boxes in my cabinet upstairs they've been handed down from family members and i have carried these rock boxes four different houses he's never looked
Starting point is 00:05:28 at them never looked at them once they've just lived up there he has like 10 guitars in our garage never looked at them i'm like why am i bringing this stuff like room to room but the thing about chris's rock box is like the rocks are fucking ugly it's like some shale it's like some slate yeah and it's like has a little memento that's like 19 5000 bc slate i'm like this oh okay live your life anyway did you collect anything guilty of course porcelain dolls oh oh my god ew gross so i had two thank you i didn't mean to be so mean about the rocks i'm sorry rocks are great great great collection sorry i didn't mean to go with the sad thank you um i ew i hate a doll that likes dolls i was not a doll person anyway i had two shelves
Starting point is 00:06:19 in my bedroom and i would often get a porcelain doll for christmas from my godfather uncle dennis who was not my uncle we just called him dennis he was a peacock farmer and he was huge he was literally like hegrid from harry potter he looked exactly like hegrid he came and he was like this farmer from mundare alberta and he always had like a felt on because it was so cold in the winter he would like show i swear to god he's hegrid he would show up on christmas eve and he would like come in with his pelts and his how did your parents know him he was like a friend of my dad's from like the car business like i don't know maybe he fixed my dad's it's weird edmonton is in well anyway not even edmonton short park and the remaining outside counties are weird so anyway
Starting point is 00:07:09 uncle dennis all six foot five of him would come in and you'd be he has this pig and like when my when he would come over my dad would have to be like dennis be nice to sheila you're scaring her like to my mom because she would be like got any butter for these potatoes like he never married he was like he was so scary anyway he would come in and he would always bring me a porcelain doll on christmas and it was so sweet and i had like a bride and i had all these things but i remember my revolt in fifth grade and this is why becca you should have let me cut your hair because in fifth grade i got the idea that every one of my porcelain dolls needed a bob and i like you know porcelain dolls would have like this huge beautiful curly hairs with like crowns and shit i went
Starting point is 00:07:53 through in my room by myself without my parents knowing i took my sissies and i cut a bob on every one of those porcelain dolls my mom was mortified she was so mad um anyway i don't know where they are now they're probably gone my mom probably threw them against a wall being like these fucking bobs anyway that is hilarious in fifth grade so that's so funny that's all okay sissies okay oh this would be fun one more parent uh one more kid thing long lost childhood possession i would love to see again my childhood dog well that was my first pet that's a different question but okay yes oh possession that's really hard isn't it what's yours kelsey um it's not it's not so much a possession but i really do miss living somewhere where like your winter activity
Starting point is 00:08:53 is ice skating. Like it was so fun to like, just walk up the street and be outside in the cold weather and just be like skating around on the fucking ice and on lakes. I have this one like core memory of being at my parents' lake house or lake cabin. It's really not a lake house, lake cabin. Um, and my brother and I, or someone and I walked out on the ice cause the lake would freeze. And then when you get to a certain part of the lake, because of the winds, all the snow goes like on the outer part of the lake and the middle of the lake is like see-through glass like you can see the fish underneath and you can like it's like this thick and it would be perfect ice skating ice it was very like calm and you would just skate but like then you would be on top of
Starting point is 00:09:36 the lake it's very magical i lived in a very magical world so that's my possession but maybe ice skates jack my possession would be my beanie baby collection um i don't know where it is i'm sure it's up in my attic somewhere but like i would really like to know what i actually had and at what point i could have been a millionaire you know like if i sold them at the right time like how much could i my net worth be from beanie baby sales well i did find my beanie baby collection recently when my parents were moving out of their house and i had so and many of them and we did that and there were really none that were of value but i mean like if you sold them at their peak like what what could it have been you know right like if you had that princess
Starting point is 00:10:22 diana bear and you sold it like you know wow in 2001 when there were like fifty thousand dollars or something you know danny pellegrino when his book came out his pr box i don't know if you guys got one but i did because i'm a reader uh he put a beanie baby in every one that's hilarious that he bought online yeah oh that's cute i love that i gave mine to callie i don't think you're supposed do because i think they can die if they invest some of it but she didn't when she goes you're the most lax dog owner i've ever known in my life um i don't think that there's really anything i can think of like i really don't have my mom kept so much stuff like for so long that anything that was really like special to me stayed in my like childhood bedroom for so long
Starting point is 00:11:11 that like, so it's a little bit of a depressing situation, but there's nothing. Nothing is long lost. Nothing. I don't think. Lady Gang is sponsored by BetterHelp. When you're at your best, you can do amazing things, but sometimes life gets you bogged down and you may feel overwhelmed, like you're not showing up in the way that you want to. And working with a therapist, you know at Lady Gang, we love going to therapy.
Starting point is 00:11:38 it can really get you closer to being the best version of you. I do therapy once a week. When you feel empowered, you're more prepared to take on everything life throws at you. And it's just nice to have an unbiased place where you can sort out your feelings and plan and emotions about certain things, and then really dig into all your childhood and all the things that make you tick the way you are and how to almost like a life coach in a way. If you're thinking of giving therapy a try, BetterHelp is a fantastic option. It's convenient, it's flexible, it's affordable, and it's entirely online. You're going to fill out this questionnaire, you're going to get matched with a licensed therapist, and then you can switch therapists anytime you want. So if you want to
Starting point is 00:12:17 live a more empowered life, therapy can help you get there. Visit betterhelp.com slash ladygang today to get 10% off your first month. That's betterhelp, H-E-L-P.com slash ladygang. the lady gang okay if i could do it all over again i would change god this is a tough one i don't know do you have an answer um yes of course she does well i'm just thinking you know i would redo my 20s i would redo i would change to be uh i would be more more present in my Rockette sisterhood. I really only wanted to be friends with one Rockette, Nicole, because everyone else was like, I mean, they were fine and we were friends, but like,
Starting point is 00:13:12 I just like was, it was such a cool job. And I remember being like, so into whoever my boyfriend was at the time, or then also like putting my headphones on and listening to my chemical romance while I did my warmups. And I wish I would have just like sat in the room and visited with people and like been a part of the class. Like it was just such a weird outcast. And so I hate that and I want to go back to Christmas but that's not really who you are no I know it's not who I am so it's like I would change it oh okay um I would go back and change there was like a point where I was at the height of my Jack Vanek brand that I was getting offered people to like buy my brand from me and buy or buy parts of it and I would go back and change and sell that
Starting point is 00:13:58 and like make a big chunk of change because i held on to my brand so much because it's my baby it's my name but like i could have probably used like a huge chunk of cash at some point that i could invest and be better off now interesting becca my regret i don't know if it's a regret so much as I wish I had had a different um like attitude about Hollywood when I was in it um I think I got into it at an age where I had already kind of fully formed not fully formed but 26 25 26 like it was just a few years too late to have been like drinking the Kool-Aid not drinking the Kool-Aid but like you wish you would have been more naive I wish I'd been more naive I wish or maybe not I wish I had been maybe more
Starting point is 00:14:59 calculating and maybe more strategic yeah yeah and I kind of wish because I look around certain people that were in my circle at the time and they just have better options now as far as like what work they get to do. And it's because those people, it's not by accident at all. It's because those people had a very specific like way of approaching the business and I just didn't. And I couldn't, I mean, it's like, it's kind of like you Kelsey. It's like, you can't be a person that you're not, but, um, right. If you could change it, I know you're just a little bit more snaky. Yeah. It's not, it's not snaky. It's opportunistic. Yeah. Becca is not someone that plays that game. She's so talented. She's so beautiful. Everything she's gotten is based
Starting point is 00:15:54 on her talent. She could get more if she was more like political, a game player, but she doesn't do it she doesn't she doesn't want to do it and that's fine i don't know i don't want to not have my headphones on when i'm doing the rocket warm-up like i get it right yeah it's like you can't you actually can't change it about yourself because i've tried very hard to change it about you i'm like come on let's go i know let's go let's be a ruthless bitch you know you're like you're like you try but you're still like i just can't do it it makes you feel icky in your soul it makes me feel but that's like a good quality to have no this is not a flaw Yes. But I think what I didn't, I failed to notice around me was like the people that were making these like personal connections and relationships. Like I should have just been able to be like, okay, this is these people, this person is making all these connections and it's not like disingenuous. And it's a, it's like a, each person is getting what they want out of it.
Starting point is 00:16:52 It's not that they, maybe they do genuinely enjoy the other person, but at the end of the day, both person is laying their head down at night and being like, that was really great for my career. Like, it's just hard for me to separate having like human connection and contact with like opportunities and all that stuff. It's just like, I wish I could have just been more ruthless in that sense of like, yeah, absolutely. I'm shameless.
Starting point is 00:17:17 I am absolutely going to become really good friends with this group of people because yeah sure they're fun they're a good time but more than anything they're going to really help me in like my endeavors right yeah right or just like just being friends with people just to be friends with them yeah you know what i mean and it not have to be like a soul connection you've just like such a deep soul it's like impossible for you which are all good things guys i mean mine is not as good to be honest but like you know it's like we did it anyway wow this this got depressing i'm not meant to be depressing this is your birthday happy birthday becca we love you have a great birthday weekend soon it will be my birthday just kidding i'm never celebrating
Starting point is 00:18:00 another birthday i did it big for 40 and i'm gonna no more this time um and this was so great and i want i have more i will post the entire capsule if you want to make it i think it's really interesting so um anyway we weren't here for a long time we're here for a good time Thanks for listening.
