Starting point is 00:00:00 Hi, I'm Barbara aka your nursing educator on Instagram. I'm a registered nurse and I create content to help nursing students feel ready to take on anything and everything that comes with the job and trust me it's a lot. Here's one of my favorite and simplest pro tips. Upgrade your scrubs to figs. Figs are designed for us. They are super soft, lightweight, and breathable with four-way stretch to keep up with your every move. Polished professional silhouettes? Check. Functional details and pockets in all the right places, check and check. No matter what your day has in store, Figs has layers to match. Their underscrubs are perfect on their own or as a lightweight base layer to help keep you cool and dry.
Starting point is 00:00:40 And when the temperature drops, their outerwear styles are made for everything from chilly commutes to freezing hospital hallways. If you're in healthcare or love someone who is, check out Figs. Head to wearfigs.com and use code FIGSCA for 15% off your first order. That's wherefigs.com, code FIGS, C-A. It's time for a quickie. Podcast One presents The Lady Gang, the Hollywood girl posse with Lady Gang Quickie. Here's Kelty Knight, Becca Tobin, and Jack Vanek. Let's make this quick.
Starting point is 00:01:12 Hello, hello, hello. Welcome to The Lady Gang Quickie. I'm Becca here with Jack and Kelty. It's time to do something you hate. Oh, God. What? No, I'm so excited. It is American Thanksgiving week and I have prepared something so great for you. It's a thankful quickie because in a dumpster fire year, it is so important that we have gratitude in our lives and can be happy about the mundane shit when everything sucks. Everything sucks. I thought it would be great because we're going to answer these questions as part of the quickie. And then I also think it's awesome if, if everyone listening, when I ask a question like,
Starting point is 00:01:57 Hey, what, what's something thankful for blah, blah, in this round, they can think about them mentally, like what they're thankful for. And then we'll have this whole blossoming of gratitude and beautiful day. What I will do is if we have a list of these questions, I can make a master post in the Facebook group and we can have all of our girls fill out. It's like a little quiz and then everybody can write all the things they're thankful for in there or whatever we're doing. Okay. I love this so much. So the thankful quickie, you know, I love like a, just a get in your mind's eye. You know what I mean? Um, okay. I have a question Kelty. Do you keep a gratitude journal? No, I know that's a big, you don't, you didn't seem like you did. I feel like you did.
Starting point is 00:02:38 That's rude. Should I? It's like a manifesting thing. Yeah. Like I feel like anybody that has they have their manifest thing and then they have their gratitude journal yeah well my i have i have a lot of i mean to be honest i don't want to start this gratitude episode with something i'm not grateful for but i have a major issue going on right now in journaling land major i have about eight pages left of my boojo for 2020 and we've got two months to go one month six weeks or whatever. And in order to do like a to-do list and a weekly like spread, it's like, I don't have enough pages. So I don't know what to do. If I start a new bullet journal, December 1st for the year, like that just feels like it's going to throw off the whole year. And 2020 would do this
Starting point is 00:03:25 to me. I had too much to write. I read too many books. I watched too many Netflix shows. My lists are too long. So like now you want to keep your pooping list that you like never poop. So you never fill anything out and then get rid of the gratitude journal. Yeah, no, I like a list. I don't have a gratitude journal. I had a mood like tracker for a while because I wanted to see if my mood like in every day of my cycle was the same. So I'd be like, okay, three days before I get my period, I'm going to be a bat shit crazy. Like seven days before I'm going to feel great. Like I'm going to feel bloated this day, you know, but I just couldn't keep up with it. I can't keep up with all my lists. I actually have too many lists. Oh my gosh. Such as life. So this is great. This
Starting point is 00:04:02 lead us right into the first question for the gratitude list. Amen. A skill you are grateful for. Mine is not taking life too seriously. It's not sweating the small stuff, you know? Oh, she doesn't sweat the small stuff. Kelty, you go. I think I have a beautiful grand plie. and whenever I'm working out and I'm doing squats or like this morning I did Pilates and whenever I have to go into that second position, that's like nice and wide. I just always feel like, wow, like everything sucks, but my grand plie is beautiful. That is so weird. Wow. Very specific. I'm grateful for my ability to entertain. no I'm I'm grateful that the many hours and hours and hours and hours that I spent
Starting point is 00:05:01 on like singing lessons and acting lessons and dance classes like I'm glad I did that because I don't know how else I'd be making a living if I didn't it paid off because there's so many people that do that and then it they don't end up doing anything with yeah and I forget sometimes like how truly talented I really am. Wow. All right. Thank you. Thank you for that moment of gratitude. No, this is all about gratitude. You got to be thankful to me. Thank you for my grand play and thank you for Becca's overall triple threatness. I can do a grand play. I cannot sing. I cannot act. Becca, thank God I'm so talented. Thank God I'm so talented. You're welcome. Wow. She books two shows. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:05:41 No, listen, Kelty, all you've ever told me was to be more confident. No, you are. So stop. Don't build me up to just knock me down, okay? Let me fly. It's too much for her. It is too much. Okay. What is a food you really love? I am grateful for...
Starting point is 00:06:00 You guys, mashed potatoes are like my fucking kryptonite because only two things. Obviously, no one needs to eat that many carbs ever, but also... What do we? I have psoriasis and that is considered something that does inflame my psoriasis. So it is bad for mashed, but what's part of the mashed potatoes? They're called nightshades. So there's like peppers, um, eggplant, tomatoes, potatoes, like those, all the good vegetables. Those are all very, for anything like psoriasis or autoimmune, it's not great to have. So wait, all potatoes? All potatoes. That is a travesty. And I notice
Starting point is 00:06:43 when I eat a lot of French fries and I really let myself go, not like that, but I just let myself fly and just shove many French fries in the lamp. You forget about psoriasis. Then my elbow, the sight of my elbow is that of a horror movie. That is- I get it bad. I'm sorry that you have to live with that. Thank you. um i grateful for i am grateful this is a recent food i am grateful for mochi ice cream the little balls because you know what it's the perfect little portion of ice cream where you're not eating like a whole thing they're delicious whatever the shit is on the outside it's like got a nice little gummy whatever and then the green tea mochi especially it's just been a recent
Starting point is 00:07:30 fave you would eat green tea mochi you know what and i'm a chocolate person you're so weird no you're so weird you let you were wearing a tie-dye sweatsuit and a windbreaker before it was stocked in urban outfitters like you're so weird and you always like the weird thing like i'm like i want a vanilla banana split and you're like i want the green tea mochi of course you like the green tea mochi don't knock it until you try it she's exotic you're traditional yeah she's exotic i'm the Charlotte, which I don't want to be the Charlotte. I want to be the Carrie. Anyway. Okay. Uh, well, congratulations on your motion. I'm thankful for Klondike bars because a Klondike a day keeps the sads away. That is also so weird. You're like a grandma with your choices of like a banana Sunday
Starting point is 00:08:11 and a Klondike bar. Honestly, I was, I did not really know until I think the last Klondike conversation that we had that Klondikes were even being sold still. I thought that was something that was just sold in like an ice cream truck 30 years ago. Like there have been innovations in dessert since 1960. Yeah. Like mochi balls. Fondue eggs are so delicious and I like to have one in the evenings and I hold it with the tinfoil around it. Wow. And I won't, can't stop, won't stop okay um who is a your favorite smell mine is a burnt match and i've been trying to find a candle that will really our sponsor jenny kane makes a candle really i sent this to you jack No, you didn't. Yes, I did. I will look back at our texts. I said, you posted something on
Starting point is 00:09:12 Instagram and you're like, I need a candle that smells like a burnt match. Jenny Kane makes a candle. It's called Ash. Okay. You're welcome. Use our discount code and get your candle on. Okay. I'm buying that right now. It actually smells like burnt matches? Yes. Or does it smell like how people are like wood fire or whatever? I mean, it smells pretty close. It's a hybrid of a wood-burning fireplace and a match. It's great. You're welcome. Sorry for not listening to you, Becca. So rude. Take the time out of my day to DM you. Becca, what's a smell you're grateful for? I like the smell of Zach's body wash. what is it he uses the lalabo doesn't he use like a really expensive body of course he does
Starting point is 00:10:04 jack martin um he uses a lalabo body wash that we discovered at the edition hotel in miami it's like their signature scent for the edition hotels and it's 26 is that the one that they do for the hotel? Santal 26? Oh yeah. No. Yeah. What? It's not like their traditional, like everybody has the candle in their house. It's like the other one. But it's still called Santal. It's just Santal different number. Yeah, I think so. Kelty, what's your favorite sign? Well, I'll tell you. I love the way Chris Knight smells in the morning, which I know is so gross. His morning musk is like very manly and I love to snuggle up in his armpit and just have a smell. Is it, is it BO? It's not BO. It's like, you know how everyone has a smell. Like when you walk into people's houses, you're
Starting point is 00:10:57 like, oh, that's your smell. Or like I borrow one of Becca's sweatshirts and I'm like, that's Becca's smell. Yeah. He, he's not like a big cologne guy and he doesn't do like scented la la bo body washes. Like he's just pretty much like the way he smells and his natural morning smell is like kind of sexy i think it's a pheromone that's a pheromone i don't like i don't like the thought of anybody's natural smell the thought of it makes me icked out yeah i just don't it's just because it usually does have a little tinge of bo because you think it's because smell is caused by like small minuscule microscopic bacteria eating your sweat yeah no i know when you think about it like that, it's not sexy, but I do like a, like a man musk. And I think because
Starting point is 00:11:41 my, my nighttime routine is so extensive with so many roller balls on my face and pillow sprays and, and you know, critical oils that I'm very smelly, like very perfumed at night. So when I wake up in the morning and it's all washed out, I just smell Chris. Just Chris's BO. Beautiful. Did you find out the body wash? Noir 29 is actually what it is. Is that the perfume that Zach and I share? Yes. And he had to stop wearing it because Jack started wearing it. So we went to the audition. We fell in love with Noir 29 from La Labo. So I can still handle the body wash and the body lotion. But when Jack and Zach smelled the same in my life, it was like conflicting neurons in my brain. It was a weird time. Am I sexually attracted to Jack?
Starting point is 00:12:29 well obviously you're welcome who isn't um okay you're um something you created that you're proud of the lady gang that's a good answer i was hoping you would say that i mean that has to be the only thing i'm proud of that i've created if i had given birth to orly she would also be the answer. It's a good one. Yeah, I agree. I mean, the lady gang is like the first and only thing that we, that I have done and created that has like a soul to it. Like with Jack Vanek had a soul. It did, but like not as much of a, like the way that lady gang has a community and we're making other women feel us alone and we're being there for each other. I lacked that with Jack Vanek. So this is something to actually be proud of because we have, you know, touched other women's
Starting point is 00:13:21 lives that go beyond us. Yeah. Ooh, that's so good. I mean, okay. I'm going to say lady gang, but cause of course, but then also I just want to say like, I'm very proud of these eyebrows that I've created. And I mean, yes, we're all God's children or whatever. Like, no, no, I had no eyebrows in my teens. Like I was a nineties eyebrow plucker and I have created and grown out these eyebrows to be so full and fluffy. And like, I'm so proud of myself because as I age and the rest of me falls apart, it's like, I can always just come back to like, wow, I have such a strong brow. Beautiful. Holy shit. Congratulations on your grand plie and your brow. That's all I have. Honestly, it's, it's, it's it. I love how deep Kelty's answers are. Okay. Well, you guys are
Starting point is 00:14:09 like, I, we have a community and I'm like, I like my eyebrows. Okay. I didn't, I prepared differently for this section of the podcast. Okay. So something or some place that makes you feel alive. New York City. Ooh, New York. When I'm in New York and I'm going to see a show and then meeting friends afterwards for drinks, it's nostalgic. It's energetic. It's just nothing cooler? That's a good answer. Um, mine is at a concert. There is no, for me, it's kind of the same feeling. Like it's a nostalgic, it reminds me of my glory days. It makes me feel alive. And it's something that I have been craving so hard since quarantine. Like if I could do one thing right now, like if I could like turn COVID off for like a day and do something,
Starting point is 00:15:04 it would be going to a concert. Can I tell you a dark thought? That they're never coming back. No, no, no. They are. I realized at my last music festival that I may never be able to go back to one because all I think of when I'm in big shows like that is bombs. It's true. I think about bombs too. I can't be in a big group like that without thinking of bombs or a stampede because someone like brings out a knife and starts stabbing people. So I don't know why I'm sharing this. If you need Becca's personality tied up in a knot, that is literally the most Becca thing you've ever said. Yeah. Anything good that happens, you're always like, but then the white walkers will come and get us. No, it's not to bring you down. It's to show you how grateful
Starting point is 00:15:51 you should be for your outlook versus mine. Like your ability to enjoy things in the moment, as opposed to worst case scenario, we're all going to die, be murdered and stampede. Yes. Trampled. Yes. Okay. Thank you. You're welcome. You could live life like me. That's just like a little, a little preview of what goes on in your brain. Yes. So dark. As expected. Very dark. For me, it's when I'm in like the turquoise ocean somewhere, like vacationing or somewhere like even in miami or whatever and when i have a snorkel on and i can see the fish and like the community of the underwater that makes me feel like i'm ariel a little mermaid and everyone has a little personality and the fish are cute and the kelp
Starting point is 00:16:47 is waving in the wind and like that's when i'm like this is so weird because i've had one major anxiety attack in my life like major major major and i was snorkeling in hawaii I hated the feeling of like the, um, uh, what's it called? No, no, no. Oh, the seaweed. No, no, no. Like the expansive, like vast, like you can't see the end of something. Like the world around you is so huge. Like the body of water. I was like, that was my, I've not snorkeled since. So you both enjoy these two things. She was like, it's too big. Now a shark's going to eat me. You feel too small when you're in there. It's because you are small. If you were tall like Jack and I, you wouldn't have these problems. You wouldn't be able to see over the crowd to
Starting point is 00:17:40 the oncoming bombs. Maybe you'd be able to take up more space in the ocean. It's because you're pequeno. I have fewer inches. No, I think I have existential crises when I think of how truly, truly, truly, truly tiny we all are. Oh yeah. Oh yeah. Some people that's really helpful to be like, oh, but we're just part of this huge, vast world. And to me, I'm like, well, then what's the fucking point of it? I'm going to die. It's the little blue dot. Remember, this was supposed to be a really uplifting. Uplifting. We're so thankful. So let's talk about Becca's greatest fears. You really? You guys just listed two of my greatest fears. This is the Thanksgiving slash what Becca's scared of episode. Who would have thought that Rebecca's greatest fears are a fun
Starting point is 00:18:24 concert and then a fun snorkeling and a tropical vacation. Like there's no amount of money. I'm not joking. There's no amount of money that you could get for me to go scuba diving. You could offer me- I was going to say, you could never go scuba diving. Talk about anxiety attack. Like you would have like a claustrophobia. I would die. I would rip off my mask and that thing would happen where like the pressure would make your head explode. It would be the end of my life. Rebecca, did you watch My Octopus Friend on Netflix? No. It's a beautiful documentary.
Starting point is 00:18:54 What is that? It's so beautiful. Thank you for asking. It's a beautiful documentary about a man who is kind of feeling weird in his life, and he ends up finding this octopus that's covered itself with its little suckers in shells. And he's like, that's the strangest thing I've ever seen. And then he becomes friends with the octopus, and every day he goes down and visits the octopus.
Starting point is 00:19:15 He lives on the ocean or whatever. and then um he octopus only live a year you know what i mean so it's like the friendship and then by the end almost the end of the year the octopus like come up and like hug him and just like lay on him and stuff but then he watches him get eaten anyway it's a great documentary well then you just spoiled it the octopus get eaten well no well no the octopus is gonna die everyone knows octopus only live one year but not very very smart but you didn't think that they were gonna to die in the documentary. Of course it's going to die. It only lives one year. He's telling us his year with octopus. Anyway, a shark bites off one of the octopus's legs. Oh my God. And then
Starting point is 00:19:53 the leg regrows, which is fascinating. And it's so amazing. And you think, oh my God, this is the end. And the octopus turns white and like has to go in its cave and heal up. And then it does heal up and that has the one tiny little leg and like all the other long legs. But anyway, then they die. They give birth and they die. It's the cycle of life. I don't know what to tell you. It's a beautiful documentary this is so sad hi i'm barbara aka your nursing educator on instagram i'm a registered nurse and i make content that's all about helping nursing students thrive one of the first and easiest things i tell nursing students if you haven't already done so upgrade your scrubs to figs out with these stiff boxy scrubs in with the ridiculously comfy well-designed figs that
Starting point is 00:20:33 were specifically designed with us in mind they're super soft lightweight and breathable with four-way stretch and moisture wicking fabric that keeps up during long shifts pockets are exactly where you need them the fit feels modern and tailored and they hold their shape wash after wash whether you're in class at clinical or working the floor you deserve scrubs that work as hard as you do go to wherefigs.com and use code figs ca for 15 off your first order that's wherefigs.com code figs ca okay well let's let's move on i'm gonna get zanax after this the lady gang okay next thing on the thankful list something about yourself that you think is pretty cool obviously nothing after this i've never felt lame
Starting point is 00:21:21 you're not lame you're just small stop thinking about the octopus it's a beautiful story you should watch it it's lovely i don't want to watch it now i know what can happen you're you know what happens by being alive planet i didn't know an octopus only lived a year me neither and i just googled the lifespan of octopuses to make sure and by the way some of them live to five years so don't just really scared me because maybe the octopus died early and was had four more years left i think the octopus die after they give birth but live your life i'm not a you know scientist okay okay what's something about yourself that's pretty cool literally how i want to say it pretty cool pretty cool pretty cool oh
Starting point is 00:22:05 I mean I can do splits I think that's pretty cool can you do a center split no I never was able to me neither I don't think our hips are better very hard to do yeah I don't think like anatomically my hips can do that I was just thinking the other day how did I become a professional dancer and like never be able to roll through a second split like I never could in my whole life that's why I'm surprised by my grand plie it's beautiful I think I was always like an inch away from my cooter touching the floor yeah never fully splat i don't think it's many inches longer um i can belly dance but you guys didn't know that excuse me what yep i can is that the opening act for the lady gang tour 2029 nope like make your belly roll yeah i should
Starting point is 00:22:53 be like a belly roll i can't i can do the belly roll dreamily bloated right now um yeah it was my, my little, but that's not belly dancing. And that's something that I doesn't have to be a physical thing. Something about yourself. That's cool. I think there's like 800 other things cooler about you, Jack. I don't, I can't think of a single one. Um, you have a really great eye. You can pray, basically make any graphic cool. You, um, make a very long and see cocktails. you are super good at doing your own hair great long legs what else that's not you always know a good song she's a great playlist i do make great playlists thanks guys kelty okay now you guys do me kelty what's cool about kelty there's so many things cool is a hard one
Starting point is 00:23:50 You know what? It's like, I'm cool. I'm cool because I don't care about being cool. I want to be popular and I want to be famous, but I'm not interested in coolness. You know, you're cool because you are unapologetically yourself. Like you're, you don't pretend to be anybody else. You just embrace the fact of all the Celtina's things about you. Speaking of documentaries, that's like the Dolly Parton documentary that I just watched on Netflix. Wonderful documentary. It's so good, but it's like about why the, or do you need to be anything other than yourself. Oh, I like that. The most shocking part of that documentary for me was when Jane Fonda, this is a spoiler alert. Not really. It's a great, you should watch another one. No,
Starting point is 00:24:30 I'm telling you, Jane Fonda is getting interviewed in this documentary about Dolly Parton. And she's like, one time Dolly Parton slept at my house. And when she came out of the room in the morning, she was already fully dollied. You skimmed that. Jane was sleeping at Dolly's house. Oh, Jane was sleeping. Sorry. Thank you. Jane was sleeping at Dolly's house. And in the morning, It was like you expect like dolly to roll down in her sweatpants with like what does her real hair look like? What does she look like without a lash on but she rolled out of bed full dolly No one on the planet has seen her without the dolly. Yes, that is crazy She's the most fascinating person like that was like a really long documentary
Starting point is 00:25:07 I felt like I learned nothing about her, but I was still because it's also elusive If you've listened to the dolly partners america podcast you learned absolutely nothing because it's so weird almost the same. Weird. I know. Because she's got the same, she tells the same stories over and over again. It's like this character and you don't really know. I feel like she goes home at night. She has jet black hair, doesn't wear makeup, covered in tattoos. Goth. And like, like just, yeah. Like I feel like there's this side of her that we're, we're just have no idea. And that's so amazing. That's so cool. So interesting, isn't it? And she is covered and tattoos. Cause remember I saw them. I don't know if you're supposed to say that. I don't think
Starting point is 00:25:49 you ever, did you actually see them? Yeah. I saw them with my own eyes. Did she like, I only saw her arms. Did she show you? She showed me. Wow. Didn't I tell you the story as many years ago? I didn't know that you actually saw them. I thought it was like, just like the urban myth that everybody knows. No, no, no. I saw them in person. I was interviewing her in Nashville about her Christmas movies that were wonderful. And I, it was her 50 year anniversary or whatever. And I brought her this like paperweight that said love on it. And I was like, this is for your anniversary. Like whatever.
Starting point is 00:26:18 Cause you know, my love language is gifts. And she was like, this is so crazy. And she pulled, you know, she wears a glove too. She pulled up, she has zips on the sleeves. She unzips, she rolls up the sleeve and she's got the love, like that very famous kind of scroll, like, you know, the Sydney Evan necklaces and everything like on her arm, like right here. Wow.
Starting point is 00:26:36 And then she had like her tattoos. It's not a sleeve. People were like, it's a sleeve. It's a sleeve. what i saw with my own two eyes is like kind of tattoos like us becca where it's like she's got a wrist she's got an arm she's got a whatever like they're like stamps yeah six stamps interesting that's cool wow hopefully you're allowed to say that why wouldn't i be able to say that she showed it to me i don't think she's hiding it i just think she's not sharing it such a cool detail
Starting point is 00:27:01 like to know that she's like underneath those clothes like tats underneath your clothes well also you can, when you look down her shirt, cause like, I mean, not to be gross, but like, you're going to look down her shirt. It's Dolly Parton. I have seen, she's got a tattoo right here in between her boobs. I don't know what it is. I heard it's like one of those. That's like a full chest situation. I'm saying she could have a Rihanna like wings under the boobies, but no one will ever know. Let's get into that in a moment. Let's do our last question. And the last question is a lesson you are grateful for. oh i was thinking about this the other day i am grateful for uh the several years of failure
Starting point is 00:27:44 um because i think about the kind of asshole i could have become if i kept getting everything that i wanted when i wanted it like i don't like after glee were you talking like i think all of it I think that even in my theater career, I didn't get every job I went out for. I got a lot of heartbreak and a lot of no's and a lot of rejection. And then after Glee, there was several years of getting so close and not getting it or not even getting so close. But I just think about, I look at other people's trajectories and the people who it appears have gone boom, boom, boom, boom, boom into all these really great opportunities, I find there is a lack of gratitude, if you will, or a lack of, I don't know, like humility. So now I'm in this like
Starting point is 00:28:36 place in my life where I feel so grateful for every opportunity and I don't judge the opportunity. I just like move forward with it, but I would never feel this way if I had gotten everything I'd ever wanted. I love that. It gives you like a new perspective to everything where it's like, if you got all that, then it's like, you'd expect that you'd get the next thing. And then you'd be pissed off if you did it. And then it would be probably a lot more. And then you're a dick. Well, that's how people become assholes. Yeah. But it is true. Even with this move to Canada, like people always assume, I don't know why they wrongly assume that you're like so negative. I mean, there is like the part of this where we talked about like the ocean. What do you mean?
Starting point is 00:29:13 I'm talking about moms. No, I know you are like, you know, there are parts of you that are doomsday multifaceted, multifaceted, but people assume that you just hate everything, but you don't. And, and what I will say is that this has been like kind of a roller coaster. Like you were up for this job, you got the job and it all kind of has happened really quickly. And you were like in the middle of IVF at the time, like there was just a lot going on and you've been so calm about this and really have attached yourself to like, I'm going to Canada for seven months. Like I'm moving my whole life, like from a place of gratitude. Like you haven't once been like, I got to do this move. I got to go live in Canada. Like you've been so full of gratitude. And I think it's because
Starting point is 00:29:55 you did get so close on so many gigs before and thought, okay, this is my thing. This is my thing. And now, you know, it's great. Like COVID, you know, it's like, it's, it's so crazy. Like there's a lot of people I know who probably would have turned down a job that would make them move to Canada for six or seven months, you know, because it's like, well, I can't upload like uproot my life. But now like these people, including myself, who were like choosy and judgy of like certain opportunities are like, yes, COVID has taught us that like any opportunity is something to be grateful for. Cause like they aren't coming around the corner every moment. Absolutely not. I love that. What are you grateful or what are you, uh,
Starting point is 00:30:41 what's the lesson you're the lesson? Um, mine is sort of the same, but different. Like my failure with my Jack Vanek brand, I think taught me a lot of different things. One, it taught me a lot of lessons to bring into lady gang. So we wouldn't make the same mistakes that I made with Jack Vanek because they were mistakes that completely like changed the trajectory of my brand, but also the point in life that I was at when Lady Gang was introduced to my life. If Jack Bannock was like, you know, killing it out there, I wouldn't have had the time and space within my life to take on a new project. And also with my brand being the way that it was, there was like a lot of a loneliness
Starting point is 00:31:21 kind of attached to it because it was just me. And like I said earlier, there wasn't much of a soul to it. So I think having that fail and not go the way that I thought it would go kind of opened me up into something that was a lot bigger than me. So that was my, I love that. Well, I'm happy you had time for us too. Um, my lesson is kind of new. It's just been this fall. Um, so everyone can kind of tell that I've taken a step back from being full-time at entertainment tonight. I don't know if I ever talked about that, but, um, so I really had this, this crumbling feeling of that when I wasn't on the show six days a week, that I would not matter as a human
Starting point is 00:32:03 being. Like I have had my self-confidence and everything about me so wrapped up in this job for so many years. And so the lesson that I've learned is that what is important to us and who we are, like you don't have to be everything to everyone to matter. Like I think my world has gotten a lot smaller. Like I'm really just talking to the lady gang fans now. And like, I'm, I'm working part-time for ET and I've other stuff that's going on, but like, I don't feel like less important. I don't feel less. I know we joke about me being famous, but I don't feel like I actually feel more fulfilled. Um, and I thought I was going to feel really empty and really sad and really like unimportant. I was like, well, I'm not going to be important anymore. No,
Starting point is 00:32:48 one's going to care about me. And like, it's over. I don't feel that way at all. I feel like now that I have a little bit of time and a little bit of balance, like people are always saying balance, balance, balance. It's like, I feel more alive. So that lesson that came to me in whatever way, it's like, you know, it's sometimes just being alive is like the, I don't know how to say this. What am I trying to say? Like living, like I can live. Like I'm like, I'm eating a meal. I'm not thinking about 700 things. Like I just being busy is not a life. It gives you an actual purpose and it's shown you the things that actually matter in your life that aren't the shiny things that you would be so distracted going after that you wouldn't even stop to think about the things
Starting point is 00:33:28 that you now are forced to think about and do. And I think that that's just been a huge change for you. Well, and I think that all of us would like to think that when life is going really great, that we have a lot of room for self-improvement. But the fact of the matter is, is that that's really not when that happens. You're not able to really grow into who you truly are or get to know who you truly are until something, quote, bad happens or something is taken away from you. Big change, right. Yeah. Big change that you didn't necessarily invite in. So that's the thing too is everybody who's going through really shitty times right now and things have been taken away from them that they thought that they wanted to make them happy or whatever
Starting point is 00:34:14 it is. It's like, you have to also do the work once you get to that place. Like it's been stripped away. It's been taken away. It's disappeared or whatever that thing is or a change. Like now you have to do the work, but it's like an incredible opportunity because you don't get there with just success after success after success and getting everything that you want. I love that.
