Starting point is 00:01:29 things are about to change around here each week we catch up with hollywood's hottest girl posse kelty knight becca tobin and jack vanik hello hello hello welcome to lady gang i am becca tobin here with jack vanik and kelty knight good day hello guys i'm having a problem what my hair is growing so fast oh and no it's it is poor me because my the roots in my head are 60 gray and 40 brown i don't know what i'm supposed to do with that information? I think probably just get, if you're staying blonde, probably just get more highlights. Yeah. The problem is, is that I'm, I'm living through a similar health. Thanks for, I'm glad we can talk about this. Um, so what I liked to do is I like to do root coverage for
Starting point is 00:02:29 grays one time and then three months later or whatever, get the highlights. Like I didn't want to highlight every time. A single process for the gray coverage? Yeah. Like just like she goes in and just does my roots where the gray is growing in. And I did that this time. And the problem is the grays, they don't, they're very hard to cover. So like, I feel like it washes out right away. Porous, very porous. And there's more of them than ever. And what's happening, I'm going to have to go blonde to my root now, I think soon, because that's the only thing that covers the gray. Yeah. And then it's like, I feel like it kind of camouflages them in there. If you have like light pieces, which is fine. It's just a different look and it's more upkeep and it's
Starting point is 00:03:09 more expensive and harder on your head and i'm already losing hair at a rapid pace now that i'm on no you're not you're oh that you're on tv yeah i was like your hair it looks so good i know a lot of times you're wearing extensions but it looks so good it's just like all the left okay becca i'm sorry this was about you sorry about your hair yeah i just it's really annoying i didn't realize that aging i mean you hear people bitching about it all the time but this is a situation where i am stuck between a rock and a hard place i don't want to sit down and get i don't even care if you could tell me there's a solution and i would have to spend ten thousand dollars wow every six months no yeah i would do it i would do it because i do not want to sit in the fucking chair i don't want
Starting point is 00:03:54 to sit in the fucking chair i do not want to sit in the fucking chair it's like getting your nails done it's like it's like daunting so drain i hate it so much i also came up with an incredible idea that i really want to for it to take off among salons listen up people who own salons no that would be great who want contact i want there to be an uber selection when you go to confirm your appointment or the day of they send you a text and say are you feeling chatty today or are you going to be working on your computer today don't worry we won't take offense we totally get it life is draining we love you anyway like just because here's the thing i i so agree i walk in and i just say that so i already do that i know but you can't be dicks in person i feel too bad
Starting point is 00:04:43 i you know i feel so bad that i like make conversation up because i feel bad if it's like lulling no yes yes but i don't want to i'm like i don't want to talk to you right now don't want to talk to us either but i don't and especially well i still go to sherry who we love love and but we have like a rapport with her but like sometimes i just like i'm tired and like i love talking to her but like i'm like sometimes i usually don't want to talk to anybody like not even people i'm i know where i'm friends with i i think that for being a kelty really helps your life it is it does help your life when you don't care what other people think or feel i sit down for five minutes and i was like i'm like hey and i bring my computer and my coffee and i'm like hey
Starting point is 00:05:24 how's it going what's new what's going on what are we doing with the hair how's everything we do a little kiki and i say listen i'm so swamped do you mind if i just open open my computer and work and they go yeah of course because they don't want to talk to you either they're exhausted they want to color but here's the thing think about the money they're making here's the other thing though kelty if you don't want to bring a computer and you don't actually want to be working either and you just want to like read a book it's offensive to say to somebody hey i'd rather read this book than talk to you that's true that's why i need the option on uber on okay no no i think it's smart to be like i love you so much but i am gonna zone out and i'm gonna read a book i'm gonna
Starting point is 00:05:58 listen to music i'm gonna do this thing like it's like you want it to be like self-care and that's a way to actually make it feel like self-care yeah without like draining your emotion or your social battery i i want someone who's a hairstylist who would be allowed to do this or if you own a salon. I want you to try this out because I think it's, it can be that game changer. It can be that thing. Do you ever see on Tik TOK or Instagram, the teachers that when they walk their kids in the classroom, they get to press a thing. Like, do you want a hug, a high five bump? Like you could walk into the salon and you like show them what you want. I want chat. I want emotional support. I want silence. Yeah. Like I love it. Well, it's easier. Like when you get your nails
Starting point is 00:06:41 done because you can like walk in with headphones on i always watch netflix yeah so they know do work yeah but like yeah with the hair it's like you can't wear a headphone so you can't just like automatically be like take the cue it's hard to be asked guys on that note well okay i'm sorry that was so that was such a long situation but i can make that my bad week because i'm sick of it but it's time for a proper good week yes it is bad week oh no i'll hop into my good week since that was my bad week and i don't follow directions somebody posted something in instagram and you know we've been talking about our walk tale we're desperate to have a walk tale like a walkathon no one's ever been the the community is engaged the community is engaged they're telling us where
Starting point is 00:07:24 we can walk with cocktails legally walk tales but guess what guys it's not branded a walk tale anymore it's a cock walk cocktail walk a cock walk walk with your cocks out so great devil's advocate sorry no no no pass the salt yeah you know what's gonna happen is this will end up getting out online and then a bunch of dudes are showing up with their dicks hanging out for the cock walk i can't wait for summer because in our neighborhood i feel like it's we regularly in the in warm months when it's warm here it's so nice to do a walk tail but i'm now gonna say to the neighbors we're going on a cock walk i love it i love it and just like leave it up to interpretation cock walk you don't know what it is cock walk okay wait can i go next
Starting point is 00:08:17 because i also have a word i also have a word jack you can go okay my word for the dictionary is pistified is that your not the same word okay oh my god that's great okay pistified on urban dictionary the state of being completely pissed off at someone yet also mystified at how that person can possibly be that excruciatingly stupid socially inappropriate and clueless to their affect on the world effect on the world not affect isn't that what's the word again i'm pistified at your pronunciation of effect i don't know why i said that but like pistified is so good because it's like how the are you so fucking stupid like it's actually mind-blowing you know i just feel like it's a word that can be used multiple times a day because i'm always
Starting point is 00:09:04 just in the state of shock at how stupid people can be on a daily basis very true do you ever wonder though what the amount of people that i'm pissedified by i'm like am i also pissedifying someone out there it's me hi i'm the problem it's me no for sure on tiktok today i was like got on for the first time in such a long time and there was the girl i know wait you don't know who alex earl is which i think is the funniest thing in the world no no everybody's the new tinks she i didn't know who tinks was when tinks was tinks i still kind of don't know she's this like college age girl and she said like she wore this suit that had like netting and i went to buy and it was already sold out she's like the ultimate influencer she's like a rich girl in miami
Starting point is 00:09:47 that's in college but then she also gets flown to dubai for the tart influencer trip but she's just like she's everybody's like she's so relatable but like she's a rich girl like a rich college girl but like she's cute and funny but everybody loves her yeah she's like 21 she looks 40 not in a bad way i just mean she looks like she's our peer but that i mean that's just how people look now you can't tell anybody's ages like people that are like 20 look like they're 35 this is wild okay yeah but anyways that's how that's how little you're on tiktok because i feel like jared knows who else she's come she's come up when i've been just randomly scrolling so i've definitely seen her face once um but no on tiktok a girl was like i don't i don't know
Starting point is 00:10:31 why everybody was thinking that uh anti-hero was like so relatable i find that i'm never the problem same i love it i love her so much what's the bad week okay you know how i have dreams where I'd shoot on Jared all the time. Like every other night I had a dream that I cheated on. Jared had a full on affair with the points guy, Brian Kelly, who is very much not into women and who I don't ever think about. I have a, had a full blown realistic dream that I had an affair, a steamy romantic affair with the points guy. This makes sense to me. Let me tell you why, because you're not going to look out in the world and find anybody that's going to give you what more that you need than Jared. So it's like, you're not going to find some other great guy for anything
Starting point is 00:11:25 else. So you have to cheat on him with someone who has perks that, that Jared doesn't. And the points guy, he's got perks in the area that you want perks in, which is travel. So it makes perfect sense that the points guy has the one thing Jared cannot give you. He does. He has first class seats that's something jared can't give me no you know what i think it was i did because he does pop up on my like stories because i do like engage with him because i'm interested in his life um but he has his little son and he was traveling with his son on vacation and it was just like the cutest thing that i've like ever seen in my life i think he's a single dad like i think it's just him and his son dean he's so cute and i was watching their stories and that somehow subliminally
Starting point is 00:12:07 like got in my mind and was like you love the points guy and then you wake up and i mean i love the points guy too am i in love with him he's so nice but like does not like me well you don't know never say never you never know anyways um okay so my bad week is i'll give you my good week first my good week is my word is dinkwad oh my god love it quad is for me my when from now on i just say it's because i'm a dinkwad i used to say childless childish wonder or childless wonder but that's not the full who i am dinkwad is double income no kids with a dog oh it's an actual acronym i thought double income double income no kids with a dog dinkwad if you my fellow dinkwads give it up for the dinkwads i feel like it's shitty branding for you guys i know it makes you i thought it was like
Starting point is 00:13:09 i'm like a dimwit me too yeah no dinkwad i think i wear my dinkwad flag proudly okay i do like that it has like a bad connotation just because like i thought you were like being self-deprecating like a little bit yeah and so like it has that feeling no it'll be like without being that yeah kelty buys shoes all the time because she's a dink wad double income no kids with a dog you know okay anyway all right my bad week is this i have been obviously as you guys know as you follow along i'm in my bougie era i'm in my bougie era i finally have all my vintage designer things i took that first class pod to dubai like i am living my best bougie life well i got invited to a dinner and I realized I will, and I realized my bad week is that I realized I will never
Starting point is 00:13:56 actually be upper class or fancy or bougie. I am fake bouge forever, which we know, but I went to this restaurant with Chris and some friends. And when I sat down, they had a white, um, napkin there. And then they came around to the table and they said, would you like black linen? Like, you know this yeah oh yeah i know well if you're wearing black white napkins will leave little white stuff on your pants or your dress i know really bougie people who will sit down wearing black and ask the server can i please have a black napkin it was crazy i was like excuse me what like normally it's like still or sparkling water and i was like i'll have just the tap water because i'm trash like you know and then he was like black would you like a black linen and i was
Starting point is 00:14:45 like, Jesus, I was at this like, it's so weird. This place called steak 48. It's new in Beverly Hills. And it's a friend of ours is doing PR for it. So they invited us. It was fine. I mean, I'm not a steak eater. So it's like, what am I going to eat? Macaroni and cheese. What did you eat? Macaroni and cheese. Um, and dessert. But anyway, what a waste. Kelsey, when one of those happens also been for you. Yeah. I think you should have stepped in. At least we'll enjoy the food i know all right well when we come back the queen of the world is here i just posted this on my instagram this episode of lady gang is brought to you by just thrive i just posted this because i believe so much in this probiotic ever since tina anderson came on our podcast and she

This episode of Lady Yang is brought to you by my inability to cook and how much I love Home Chef. Home Chef really helps me because all day long I make decisions. And then when it comes time to feed myself at dinner and my family, I'm like, I can't
Starting point is 00:16:50 make another decision. And like, maybe I don't have the right ingredients or blah, blah, blah, blah. It's very stressful. And that's why I freaking love Home Chef. They have their quick solutions, which I love, which is the 15 minute recipes. They have microwave meals. Yes. And oven ready options that save everyone time and effort in the kitchen. Plus the cleanup is an absolute breeze. And you can also, if you're like me, a delicate flour, get into all of your dietary needs, carb and calorie conscious menu items, customize your protein, swap vegetarian friendly options. There's a ton of things and it just makes it so easy. And one of the things that I've learned working with my health coach is just like, if you're not going to make it, just have it ready
Starting point is 00:17:30 to be made. Like there's no championship award for making your meals from scratch. There really isn't. So for a limited time only go to homechef.com slash lady gang for 75% off your first box. Again, go to homechef.com slash lady gang for 75% off homechef.com slash lady gang for 75% off. Now back to the lady gang. Our guest today is the Diet Coke Queen, someone who should have been nominated for a Grammy for her singing of Silent Night, a shiny-haired goddess who went from the most hated to most authentic over the course of the past season of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. The marketing genius behind her own company, some brands you've heard of like Vita Tequila
Starting point is 00:18:11 and a bunch of brands that she made popular that you never knew she was behind. NDAs, baby. Please welcome the star of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, the fashion queen, our dear Lisa Barlow. Back to the podcast. Hi, shiny-haired queen. Hey. i love that intro you need that for everything i do you know you and kelty are friends behind
Starting point is 00:18:32 the scenes in real life and the two of you are so similar oh my god yeah i think so too it's so wild to see the fandom of bravo go from and this is similar to the fandom of lady gang go from kelty i don't get her i don't who is she i don't think she's my cup of tea to now she's the most amazing snowflake that ever existed she's so real she's so shameless she like there are so many similarities with the two of you i just i love it so much and i had the privilege of being in the car one day where you guys were talking on the phone you and kelty and you guys just kept calling each other baby gorgeous you kept talking about fashion about that weren't you in the car jack yeah i think it was when we were in new york
Starting point is 00:19:24 yeah and i was like kelty has found her friend soulmate it is it's because also you guys you guys have stands yeah like your personality lends to having people that like are gonna stand you till the very end and i just love it so much kelty needed somebody like you in her life Yeah. I needed Kelty too. It's a mutually amazing friendship. Yes. And you know what? It's fun. It's been fun to watch this season because I felt like you did have a redemption. Like we, it was like, people did not get you. They did not understand. And because of that, you were like, kind of ousted. And this is the season I feel like in social media and the meme world. And like, everyone's kind of like, wait, wait, wait. I understand her. I get her. Like,
Starting point is 00:20:12 is it so much more enjoyable to be on a show when you're not like the most hated person on it I know season one was the worst I would open up I didn't even want to go on social media for like six weeks because I'm like I filmed that season I did nothing to warrant this and it was because I was being narrated so I would walk in a room and someone would hear bitch entitled um mean girl like all these things that i people were being told i was so it didn't matter what i did i could be like i love your hair and people are like she's such a bitch like hey my god and so it was really rough season one and i'm pretty resilient like in third grade i did a sleepover at my friend michelle's house and her mom spent the night telling me how ugly i was and i went home yeah
Starting point is 00:21:00 for real and i went home thinking god that was like the worst sleepover i'll never do that again I never told my parents I was just like well and she said one thing to me she's like well it's a good thing you're ugly when you're little because girls that are ugly when they're little grow up to be pretty so I was like well I wonder what's gonna happen with your daughter like in my head like just never said anything girl oh it was vicious but all I think about when I get the mean comments is I'm like oh you're Michelle's mom like you're Michelle's mom you're just the mean girl like just mean you're nasty you hate your life you want to attack me but it was hard this season this season was weird like getting through three I lived it and I'm like this is
Starting point is 00:21:42 weird like every single day I would just go home from a scene and I'm like this is weird none of this makes sense and what was weird to me is I'm like you're lying and they're recording you and you're changing your story and they're recording you and this goes for a lot more than just one person yeah and it was just like sometimes like I'm like how is this going to even survive because my big thing is if you're really putting your life out there and you're like i'm going to be open to this um you can't build anything it's like a house of cards because it's all lies it's going to crumble and then no one's gonna like the authenticity of the show becomes questioned because they're like what's real they're faking stuff for a storyline or for a show and that was
Starting point is 00:22:24 really hard well i also think that you must have just seen the scene with seth's foot in meredith taint and thought, you know what? I'm doing okay. I'm so scared of a butthole. Anyway. Yeah. See, they were twins. Kelsey, I'm terrified. I'm just like, first of all, I don't want to be in a bath with Chris Knight either. Have you seen his toenails? Have you seen a man's toenails? I don't want to be in a bathtub with a man's toes. No, no. Okay. I'm glad you brought this up, uh, Becca, because John Barlow is my question. So what I love about John Barlow is he just seems like, and I think this is another similarity, not to make this about me, but like the Chris Knight and Jordan Barlow are the same man, just a tall, calm, supportive guy. And I actually
Starting point is 00:23:15 thought about this when I watched the second part of the reunion. And if you, if you don't watch Salt Lake and you're listening, we should, but in the reunion, there's like a lot of husband stuff. So the husbands kind of made this deal where it's like, they were not going to talk badly about the wives. They were just going to be friends. And I think on this housewives more than any other one, there is like a lot of focus on the husbands being friends. And so Meredith's husband and Lisa's husband kind of were like, and John said, Hey, like I want to be friends with you, but like, I've never said anything bad about your wife. Cause that was our deal. And you have said bad things about my wife. And I thought it must be so hard as a husband, first of all, to
Starting point is 00:23:47 not go out there and shit talk because you're keeping quiet. And then for him not to say anything, but just the way he said it, I was like, he really is like salt of the earth and has like a very humble, kind vibe. Is that what John Barlow? You know, one of the reasons I married John is I'm like, his moral compass is so solid. And one thing that was really important to me, and even with raising Jack and Henry's, I'm like, I have to be married to someone that respects women. Like that was like probably the biggest thing on my checklist when I was a teenager and like, you know, in and out of college, like over the summer I would work and my mom's friends would always like stop in and come and say hi to me. And my one, one of my mom's friends said to me,
Starting point is 00:24:34 you can marry someone you love and you can also marry someone you respect. You'll have a longer relationship if you marry someone that you love and respect. And I think a big thing for me is And I'm like, I respect John so much because he doesn't get in to the fray of things. He's logical. He's sound. He really does respect women. Like the way he treated his mother, like when we were dating, I was like, oh, he's like amazing.
Starting point is 00:25:00 You know, John's not perfect though, but like, he's pretty close. Like, I'm not going to say he's perfect, but he's as good as he get. You can get like, I feel like he's a good guy. I think it's interesting because Jack is, since last time we saw Jack is engaged and she's planning her wedding now. So she's thinking about her vows and the rest of her life. And, and Becca and I are both a few years into our marriage. And I think it's really interesting because going back into like wedding planning mode with Jack, it's like, it gets to be this, like, we're going to get married. And then it's so focused on the wedding that you're like,
Starting point is 00:25:29 and then what? And now that Becca and I are like in our, and then what, you know, tips for everyone listening on like how to grow with your partner. Like I see you post these flashback photos of your wedding to John. I'm like, that's not the same lady. And that's not the same man. Not only And like, obviously it's been years, but like, you've grown your career, like you've grown your family, you've grown your house, you've grown your life. Like how have you guys grown together instead of growing apart? Um, well, it's a lot of work. Like, I think a lot of people forget. I mean, Kelty, you know, you're married, Becca, you got it. You're married. Jack's buckle up. It's amazing. Um, but it's, it's literally John is my everything. So, um, I think
Starting point is 00:26:09 i always make him a priority and everything and even though it looks like sometimes on the show i don't he's a priority we do spend a ton of time together i think that age old age old adage like absence makes the heart grow fonder i don't buy that i think it's bullshit i think you have to spend time with your partner um wear those low waist jeans like those ones you just got jack i saw those those are like hi oh my god interested with those jeans but i think but i think it's one thing is it's like john and i argue i don't mind arguing with him in front of the kids too when i talk to the kids about it i'll say to them like daddy's a different person i'm a different person jack henry just told me he doesn't like that i refer to us as daddy and mommy anymore he's too
Starting point is 00:26:54 old so your dad and i argue we're different people and i think that it's important to be be yourself. I know. I'm like, Henry's like, stop calling yourself mommy. And he's not creepy now. Yeah. And he told me I'm cringe, but like, I think it's important that you're just yourself too. Like John's never tried to change me and I've never tried, tried to change John. And one thing John was saying the other day to me in the car, like I was, I'm a New Yorker and I'm super direct John Southern. And I think with that, like sometimes, and I'm a Sag, so I'll say things that literally it's like oh my god did she really just say that and he'll say to me like maybe you should be building me up in this moment instead of like and I'm like well do
Starting point is 00:27:41 you want me to tell the truth or do you want me to lie to you he's like you know at the end of the day he knows like my intention is like hey this is like my take on it and just use it to like gauge yourself. And he's equally, he's a Scorpio. And I feel like John's super honest and direct with me. He's just probably more patient and he holds grudges much longer. But you know, the one thing about being married, I think is it's, you have to constantly commit every single day. And I, I come from divorce, like everybody in my family's divorce. My parents are divorced. All my siblings, but my brother are divorced. All my aunts are divorced. All My cousins are divorced. So it is a real commitment for me every day to say, like,
Starting point is 00:28:24 I'm not going to bounce because I'm a Sag. And I think the first thing for me is like, Hey, like, I don't like this. Bye. And with John, he's the one person where I'm always like, I want to stay. I'll be the first to be like, I'm so sorry. Like, I, I don't want to argue with you. And we made a commitment probably three years ago. I'm like, I never want to fight with you anymore. It feels ugly. Like, like I'm like, there's no reason we should argue anymore. So, I mean, there's things that we have differing opinions on, but I'm always like, I don't want to waste today. Like, I don't want to waste a day being mad at you. Like that's like important. I think to not, you only get so much time. Yeah. That's so true. I actually was fighting with Zach the
Starting point is 00:29:07 other night and it had been a really long time since we'd had a fight and it was, you know, It was like our most sacred time is we have a one-year-old right now and we put him down together. We give him his bath together, like when we can. And that's like, we don't get those a lot because we travel, we work, we whatever. So it's like really sacred and we're fighting. And I had the same feeling where I was like, it doesn't feel like it has so much more weight now because we don't have time for this.
Starting point is 00:29:34 We have to go be with our son and like enjoy this moment that's not going to last forever. And so it really does put things into perspective. So that's like really nice to hear. And I selfishly want to hear, you have such a sweet relationship with your sons. And I want to know as a boy mom, what's the best advice that you can give having boys? Oh my gosh. Well, I don't know. I feel like they just came so good to me.
Starting point is 00:29:57 Like I honestly, like, I'm like, you're a gift and my, you know, when you're growing up, your mom's like, you're going to have a kid just like you and you're going to know what she feels like. Um, they're just easy. like Jack looks like me, but acts exactly like John. And I think one thing that was so important to me, um, when I was pregnant with Jack, I was like, Oh my gosh, this is everything. And like, I wanted a baby so badly. Like, you know, when you like feel it and you're like, I want this baby so badly. And then when I had him, he was like everything. I took him everywhere with me,
Starting point is 00:30:30 did everything with them. He was platinum on Delta the first year. And then I literally couldn't imagine I'm like, what is it going to be like to have another baby? And I would cry because I'm like, I can never love anyone as much as I love Jack and then Jack six. And I get pregnant with Henry and he was planned. Like it was literally like first try, not sorry, TMI, but I was like, I really want a baby. And John's like, I do too. And it just felt right. So it was like, first try we got Henry and then Henry looked so innocent and so sweet. And then anytime Jack did anything remotely wrong like honestly he gave me a heart attack one time he was had his friend back him over and they were literally half under the bed and half like out from under the bed and
Starting point is 00:31:17 I'm like what are they doing in his room and they were watching Katy Perry's video and I didn't know that's what it was and I thought it was something way worse and I grabbed the laptop and like chuck it and I'm like you're Henry's so good Henry's like can't even move he's in a swing and I'm like And I'm like, Henry's so good. And you're so naughty, Jack. And then John opens the computer and he's like, he's watching the Katy Perry video. I mean, in her defense, she had cupcakes on her tits. You know what I mean? Like, you know, who knows what subliminal messaging is going on in those videos. Thank you, Kelsey. But I'm panicked. And then all of a sudden I'm like, okay, Henry's my perfect child, but Jack is such a good kid. And he's literally just kind of came
Starting point is 00:32:00 with a good moral compass he's a lot like john his first grade teacher is like jack is just like perfect he has such a strong sense of guilt that that kid will always be a good kid henry's a little harder but jack's easy like you know everyone's like what kind of mom are you are you a helicopter mom and i'm like i'm kind of like a g6 some days and like just text me and let me know you're alive other days but i think he's built so much trust with me that he makes it's so easy. And then Henry does everything Jack does. So I feel like since Jack's so good, Henry's going to be a little easier, but they're both super, um, comfortable with themselves. Jack had to work on it. Like Jack, um, I would open the drawers in his bedroom and like on the
Starting point is 00:32:44 back of his door, it stayed up for five years. He put you're amazing. And he had it in all of his drawers. So in like his bathroom, he would open up. He's going to die that you told this story. Yeah. He probably, he probably will. I embarrass my kids all the time, but he was setting reminders for himself that like, Hey, you're amazing. You're a good person and, and grateful reminders. Like he'd write, I'm grateful for, and have that image more. So he was easy. Like Henry's probably going to kill me. Wait, did you teach him to do this or did he do it by himself? No, I asked him why he had that. Because even when we remodeled our house, we did a full gut of our house if he took it off the door and put it on his brand new bedroom door and I was
Starting point is 00:33:29 like why do you do that and I'm like don't you do you feel like you're not like awesome and he's like in sixth grade I started to feel bad about myself and so I told myself I'm going to remind myself I'm good I'm a good person and I'm a I'm good and so I was like that's like yeah so he did that on him on his own I didn't do that and that's crazy I can't take credit for it but I was like yeah, but I mean, I think God gives you what you get and you have to figure it out. And I got lucky with two really good ones, you know, and I have heard from people who have both genders and, and just boys. They're like, there's nothing like a boy. Like girls will literally destroy you, drag you through the mud, run you over 85 times. You still have to love them after
Starting point is 00:34:17 that but it's way harder to love a girl like boys it just feels so easy i'm like what is there not to love right now i think i i was meant to be a boy mom for real like i'm one of five girls my mom likes us in small doses at this stage in her life because she's like i don't want to hear that you hate my outfit my hair my shoes i don't want to be criticized i just want to hang out with you and if the first person that criticizes me is the first person making me leave so my god i think girls are definitely harder. And boys like love their mom in a different way. Jack's way more affectionate. Like, I feel like Henry's kind of like, don't touch me. You're cringe. I think I'm cringe for Jack sometimes too, but you know, they're, they're easy kids. I got lucky.
Starting point is 00:35:04 You're not cringed to us, Lisa Barlow. When we come back, the party planner who just planned And every single great celebrity event at the Sundance Film Festival is going to give Jack Vanek some tips for her Parisian, you know, she's in the middle of planning right now. And also, we're going to do something we've never done before on Lady Gang ever, and it has to do with French fries. This episode of Lady Gang is brought to you by the all-electric IONIQ 6. This spring, this car makes its debut, and its range is up to 360 miles.
Starting point is 00:35:37 It can charge from 10 to 80 in as little as 18 minutes on an ultra fast charger By the way, it has a digital key. So never will you be like, I don't know where I put my keys Your keys are at the bottom of the disaster. That's your purse. You'll never go to the gas station again I haven't gone to the gas station in years except to like go get a diet coke It's so nice when gas prices go up. You don't even think about it. You're like, oh great the all-electric hyundai ionic 6 It's your journey and I just want to let you know these are extremely limited in availability and the estimated 360 mile radius I need to let you know that it's like on a fully charged battery. And when you put your seat warmer on, obviously it uses more battery and all those factors
Starting point is 00:36:11 and things. The actual range varies on trims and factors. You can call 562-314-4603 for complete details. You're listening to the Lady Gang. We are back with Lisa Barlow. She has a couple of brands I want to quickly tell you about. Blue Jay Seltzer is brand new. We're going to be able to get it in stores.
Starting point is 00:36:34 Everywhere. so it's nationwide we're with us beverage so it's literally going coast to coast gas stations grocery stores everywhere i'm super excited about it we love a tequila vita fresh wolf is still crushing it there's a zillion other ones i want everyone to check out we love it we love a drink um and speaking of drinks uh we are going to france to marry off jack vanik next fall so sick and she's in planning mode now a few things about jack well actually jack why don't you explain um because lisa is a you know she's a housewife but she's an event planner first and a marketing genius so what's important what's not jack where are you at my darling um so i'm getting
Starting point is 00:37:16 my married in september and uh we're renting out a whole front chateau it's going to be 40 to 50 people like pretty small and intimate because i don't really like anybody so it's literally everybody in my life I love and like a hard line to everybody I hate um planning I mean I'm in the beginning of it I obviously have never planned a wedding before so I would take any amazing and all recommendations or tips and tricks um I'm a very like aesthetic like I'm I'm there for the aesthetics for the most part and content and all that fun stuff um and I don't be and I hate like traditional shit so i'm like all i'm trying to do is throw like a huge party you know i love this um okay so what's the venue outside inside outside baby outside um okay so a couple things i
Starting point is 00:38:09 love at a wedding and i think are super important and you have to keep in mind september what's the lighting gonna be like what time see this is why we need barlow this is why is the sun still up or is it just starting to set in september i think it's starting to set because yeah it's like it's getting a little bit cooler it's like it's starting to set but still like in france it's still light out pretty late it's still light out for you like so i think you have to take all those things into consideration like what's the lighting gonna be like during x y and z so like when during the ceremony what is what is it like are you starting the ceremony and the party after later, like all those things are important because lighting is everything to
Starting point is 00:38:54 me. Like when I'm doing, so during Sundance this year, I had seven activations, experiential activations and like big buyouts. Like we bought out buildings and then reset them all and made them something totally different. Lighting and floral set the mood. I think even outside you have to bring in texture. So like six shears, how are you going to light the shears? What is the backdrop for what's a sheer pictures like sheer curtains like like and like bring in like beautiful things out from like outside to set like what's the walkway gonna look like out like is your party right after the ceremony and is it all outside France is like my favorite place on earth I found out I'm a little French and I'm like now I'm even more diehard but um you know
Starting point is 00:39:41 yeah I think oh my gosh I want to go with you and help you do it Oh my gosh. Come on. I'm not even kidding. It's literally all of my best friends. And then you can come. I love it. I love it. I'll talk to his best friend, her plus one. You know what? Honestly, Chris Knight's not available and you know, I love a craft, so I'll be hanging the shears. This is perfect. This is all going to work out. I can leave Zach behind. Yeah. Lisa, you could totally be one of their plus ones. Done. Make it a trio. I love it so much. If you send me, literally, if you sent me a few pictures of like the place you're doing it, I can throw a bunch of ideas at you, but I love to do unique, unique things. Like one of my
Starting point is 00:40:21 favorite events I did at Sundance this year was Illuminative's event. And it was so like, you know, you have to be on a budget, but you want to make it so sick. And I'm like, where are we going to have the photo moments? And how do we bring this beautiful indigenous culture to life? And I asked Crystal who's, who heads up Illuminative. And I said, what is the most important thing to and she's like I want wild flowers I want this so we created everything like so magical from the rug texture to the flowers to this like insane photo moments we had multiple ones throughout the space so like everywhere but it was like 360 everywhere you looked was like that's beautiful that's beautiful and I think that's really important being outside I think it's going to be so cheap
Starting point is 00:41:05 though but think of the details like what is the walkway look to get outside like what do you want on that walkway and like, what can you use? That's natural. It's so overwhelming. It's so exciting. I'll send you notes. Oh my gosh. I would die at the end of the day. Who ate at their wedding? Raise your hand. Did any of you guys eat at your wedding? None of us. So just focus on the party and having fun. Focus on the party and having fun. I legit went to Wendy's after I not married. And that's not a joke. I'm trying to get a McDonald's sponsor for my wedding. So, Oh my God, this is amazing because this leads us. I have a feeling that's going to happen. Yeah, I do too. Uh, this leads me into my next thing. So Lisa just broke the internet with,
Starting point is 00:41:51 uh, the Wendy's collaboration where she's just eating fries, skiing at the same time. So cute. And you, you know, you're my, every time I go through the drive through and get like a big a fountain diet Coke and I'm, you know, I'm supposed to feel bad about myself. I'm trying to cut back, but I just go for it. I think, well, Lisa's drinking it. She looks great. So I've decided that today on the podcast, we are going to rate the drive through fries from best to worst for all of lady gang. I like rating things and I'm going to start doing this more. Okay. So right now I think we can, do you think it's better to go? Like what is the best to worst or do you think it's like 10 out of 10 9 out of 10 like and reason why i think a 9 10 out
Starting point is 00:42:34 of 10 9 out of 10 all right so let's begin and and and if something if we miss a company i'm just going by my fave so if we miss a company you can add it in at the end okay we're gonna start with burger king becca burger king french fry it's a 6 out of a 10 for me it's not my fave they need more salt they need more grease burger king fries are very forgettable i would also say 6 out of 10 they're just not for me i'm going to be controversial here i give them like literally an eight out of ten and i think it depends on which burger king you go to so if you have i was really disappointed when i saw how burger king burke made my burger like i was like thinking all these flames and like i was gonna go in and watch someone and that was not the case so i like you
Starting point is 00:43:23 should not see behind the scenes at burger king but the fries by my house the franchise by my house that franchisee owner fills it with the fries they're extra crispy and they're almost like a little battered like they get an eight out of ten unfair also eight out of ten no also eight out of ten i agree with becca needs more salt but the batter they're extra battery and crunch there's like it's like a crunch wrap supreme okay no it's like they have like the gluten on them that kind of gives them the extra like exactly yeah that little extra something something um um um okay becca taco bell i i have not eaten at taco bell in 25 years okay jack i did not know that taco bell had fries don't are you talking about dull taco i don't i don't i haven't
Starting point is 00:44:10 eaten at a taco bell taco has fries okay tacos fries are amazing rate it rate it jack oh nine out of 10 they're like the only crinkle fry i love they are so good everybody not many people love them but i am here for a del taco fry del taco fries are good bomb i would say eight i would give them an eight okay does anyone eat does anyone go to arby's i was trying to think yes their curly fries are insane nobody has them yes nobody has them nobody can do them that same way. They're insane. Arby's. We have a good Arby's by us too. Can you rate it? We need to follow the rules. What's your rating? 10 out of 10 on the Arby's fries. The curly fries, insane. Okay. Yeah. Can't beat them. Jack? I'm going to say seven out of 10 only because I don't like
Starting point is 00:45:00 a curly fry. I think they're good, but curly fries, just like, they're not, I don't like a crisp cut fry. I just like a nice straight fry. Yeah. I don't like a shape. Chick-fil-A is a zero. i'm kidding i'm kidding i'm kidding filet is my 10 out of 10 no see i don't like chick-fil-a either they're the crisscross really gets me i'm like i need the singular fry a lot of things well but they're fries five oh becca can i get your rating for arby's and chick-fil-a fries please chick-fil-a 10 out of 10 um i know it's a controversial situation over there. Arby's, I have
Starting point is 00:45:39 had those. I don't like a whatchamacallit fry. Curly fries. Curly fry. And it's a little too much seasoning. I like a classic taste. And they have a little bit of like a Cajun something with it. Yes. They definitely have the Cajun. Okay, two
Starting point is 00:45:54 more. Next, McDonald's. I'm going to rate it 10 out of 10. So perfect. However, if you work at the McDonald's on Ventura Boulevard, every second day calling you out i'm so sick of your soggy ass fries i'm coming through i i want the crisp hot fry because when a mcdonald's fry is amazing it is amazing but i feel like they're letting the fries sit too long and i'm getting like a limp dick fry yeah yeah and now i've stopped using ketchup and now i'm only doing fries and barbecue sauce it's my new thing
Starting point is 00:46:28 10 out of 10 mcdonald's when you do it correctly i bet you can ask them for fresh ones you can you should ask for fresh and extra crispy no i think what you do is you ask for no salt or something because then they have to bait they have to do a new batch and then you add your own salt the salt shaker seems so and the other thing is like now i'm at the point where i'm like i literally was going through the drive-thru two days ago and i was like okay i'm gonna pull up to the window and then you get the bag and you know i don't want to be that person that opens the bag and it's like, make sure my order is all here, but I'm making sure, but now I'm going to have to be the one that's like, I'm sending this fry back. It ruins it. It does. It ruins everything
Starting point is 00:47:04 or when the cheese isn't melted on the burger. That's gross too. Okay. Yeah. McDonald's 10 out of 10. Yep. Jack, I mean a million out of 10, there's literally nothing better than a McDonald's fry. Lisa 10 out of 10 when they're hot and fresh and crispy. And then there are two when they're not they just ruin the whole meal makes me angry yeah okay last but not least your partner in crime Wendy's Wendy's I'm obsessed with like I'll tell you everything I love about Wendy's outside of the fries and that wasn't the question but please go ahead Wendy's has a bomb chicken sandwich their nuggets are beyond better than any other fast food restaurants nuggets like yeah nuggets their barbecue sauce is like real barbecue sauce you have to get like
Starting point is 00:47:53 five extra they have a new chicken mozzarella sandwich i can't stop getting it like i'm on literally last week i had it three times like no joke let's not forget the frosty frosty and dipping your fries and frosty that was my singing bad oh my god yeah forget the fries we need to go back because i i think you're working on an ep no actually i'm gonna be calling you and chris about this i'm being serious about it first of all you should absolutely record something a thousand percent you have a cool like a very cool tone which makes sense because you have a cool voice i love the tone of your voice and i actually really i really loved it when kelty and i were on tour when that episode came out
Starting point is 00:48:43 i don't i feel like we were together yeah and we watched it we watched no i remember it was in arizona to me you sang it to me we sang it to you right and then the morning of where you were telling john that you couldn't hear i felt so bad for you because there's nothing harder to do in the world than sing when you're congested and your ears are clogged you can't hear you can't hear i'm like i'm off key i know it they turned your mic up really hot in that choir situation because you're the only person who could carry a tune so it was so funny i'm excited for you to record an ep what are you what like the options are endless as far as like what the songs can be about like you do holidays but i have an idea sorry okay the marketing genius of this kelty night i feel like
Starting point is 00:49:31 a lisa barlow adult lullaby collection is what i want i want you to sing like hot pop songs but in have them redone as lullabies. And so it's like adult lullabies. She's like Marilyn Monroe in the happy birthday. Yeah. She's like, baby, I used to sing. No kid. I'm not even kidding. My best friends married this like really cool guy named Todd and his little brother, Blake used to call me when he couldn't sleep. And I would go sing him Van Morrison, moon dance i'm not even kidding you oh my god and not the way van morrison sang it i sang it slowed down and his wife chelsea um always says like will you like teach me how to sing the way you did because blake still asks like he like remembers you singing that tune so she's like
Starting point is 00:50:24 i need to sing that to blake because it would tie in and you can call the album counting barlows because do you remember they were like when i go to sleep at night i'm counting lisa barlows on the show. So funny. And it can just be a dull moment. You also should be starting the campaign to be in Chicago on Broadway. Yes. Oh my gosh. That would be so fun. You could definitely do it. You absolutely should do it. How do we get her in there? Does she have to like, Oh, I love you guys. She just has to tag them and I'm sure they'll have an audition. Honestly, I think it's fabulous. All right. Lisa has to go build her brands. Um, she is incredible. Please follow her on Instagram at Lisa Barlow and the new brand Blue Jay Seltzer. Look out for it in
