Starting point is 00:00:00 Well, what is this? Welcome to the Lady Gang. That's amazing. Say that again. The Lady Gang. Things are about to change around here. Each week, we catch up with Hollywood's hottest girl posse, Kelty Knight, Becca Tobin, and Jack Vanek.
Starting point is 00:00:17 Hello, hello, hello. Welcome to the Lady Gang. I am Becca Tobin here with Jack Vanek and Kelty Knight. Hello. Separated by distance, not by hearts. Oh. Not by hearts. By so many hearts.
Starting point is 00:00:29 Forever. Forever. Oh, three hearts, one beat. What is it? I don't, what are you, what are you trying to reference? Wait, isn't there a song? Two girls, one cup. No, three girls, two girls, one cup. Is that where you're? Okay. Anyways. All right. Well, uh, on that note, it's time for good week. Yes, it is bad week. Oh no. Um, who wants to go first? I'll go. Okay. So my good week, and this is not sponsored but i thought no by i i mean jared finally installed my tushy bidet oh my god and oh my god no i realize i've never used a bidet before this is my first bidet experience ever
Starting point is 00:01:08 i've always been scared because i always thought there was like poop particles on them or something it is glorious it is amazing and because i have been pooping twice a day recently i don't know why. It's like that new thing. I usually will poop in the morning and then take a shower. Now it's like a little mini shower after I poop. Wait, did you only take showers in the morning because you just pooped? No, but I'm like a morning shower person. My morning routine has to go a certain way where it's, I can't shower before I poop because then I feel gross. I have to poop and then shower immediately. I feel like you should have changed good week, bad week for the guests that we have today, like we couldn't have someone classier and you're talking about
Starting point is 00:01:51 pooping. Yeah. I feel like, I feel like she would, although bidets are very European. So I'm sure she has high class bidets in her home. Bidets are very, yeah, they're very rich. Um, so that was my good week. Uh, my bad week is something finally happened to me. I witnessed something that I thought only existed on the internet and that was i saw two people making out with their masks on what the both fully masked trying to make out like kissing each other on top of the masks where were they i was at a restaurant and they're like waiting to be seated it was just a canoodling couple and i've seen this on like barstool sports or like those influencers in the wild post or whatever, I didn't realize that it actually happened in real life. And I finally
Starting point is 00:02:44 witnessed it and it was jarring. Gross. Is tongue involved when you do that sort of a thing? I don't know. It's behind the mask. You don't really know what's happening. Then the mask is like slobbery. But they're not actually kissing. It's like their masks are touching each other. I know, but if my mouth is open and I have a mask on, there's some spit going onto the mask and making it. Yeah. I don't know if they're trying to like French kiss behind it, or if they're just trying to push their faces together, but also that is so unsanitary and it kind of defeats the whole purpose. But I was shocked. It was a once in a lifetime experience. That grosses me out. Yeah. Well, um, my good week is, you know,
Starting point is 00:03:24 I'm in Vancouver and they have incredible marijuana delivery here. Um, no, it's, it's a, they're very advanced. So I'm happy to report that. And so last night I treated myself to a little joint so that I could have a little fun here at my quarantine life. And so I got some very good weed. And then Zach looked at me and he's like, do you want to order Dairy Queen? And let me tell you something. I ordered a blizzard and it is magical. I forgot how delicious a blizzard was. And the best part about it and being stoned, you get very weird about things that you notice. You're so much more observant. And I was like, this feels like it's lasting a lifetime. I only got a smile. Why does it seem like it's lasting a lifetime? One, because when you're stoned,
Starting point is 00:04:19 you like think things take longer or time slows. But really what it is, and I double checked this morning, it's the size of the spoon, the ratio of the size of the spoon to the cup. The spoon is so small. So you take these bites that are so delicate, which makes it like 600 bites required. That is my life hack in general. I always use a small spoon when I eat a delicious treat because of that reason. It's so genius. And the spoon, the Dairy Queen spoon is so good. It's got that wide end. Also next time you have Dairy Queen, I do remember from my childhood, this might not be true, but I remember their chicken tenders were really good. I have had the chicken tenders after like weird soccer games in middle school.
Starting point is 00:05:05 Yeah. It reminds me of a very specific time in my life. I don't think I've had Dairy Queen in like 25 years. Well, if anybody's feeling sad, I really, I highly recommend ordering yourself a blizzard. Love it. Okay. My bad week. So this is an old bad week. And the reason I kept it for so long is because I was worried that I would be identified. It's been a long time that like, maybe this won't, people won't put two and two together. If you will. I was staying in a hotel. I'm not going to say the city either. That's how scared I am of my identity being figured out. I was in a hotel and it was myself and Zach and two other couples. And we went to grab a drink at the bar in the hotel downstairs, which was open, but it was socially distanced
Starting point is 00:05:54 and everything was like very spread out. And you were all wearing masks. We walk in from the outside. We all have masks on, except my friend's husband has his just like, he's just putting it on because he's walking inside. Before he has time to put on his mask fully, this douchebag with like long hair and a fedora and skinny jeans screams at him, hey, put your mask on. Well, I had had a few cocktails and I really hate it when somebody tries to hall monitor me. You know what I mean? Especially when the intention is there, like he's obviously preparing the mask to put on his face. So I lost my mind. No, Zach. Yeah. I lost my mind. Zach was further ahead. So he didn't catch any of the exchange until the certain point that he comes back. And, and I was
Starting point is 00:06:48 like, so the guy's like, you need to put your mask on. I was like, you need to mind your business. He's obviously putting his mask on. We just came in from outside mind business. And he's like, Oh, you are unbelievable. And he's like, at me. And then I'm like, you know what? Have a nice night, loser. And Zach catches that exchange and he's like, what the just happened? And I realized that I had been in quarantine too long, cooped up too long. And my tolerance for humans is so short. I just really hate the guy was so far away from us. And like, don't police me. But you got to think that that guy's tolerance for humans is probably just as short as yours. And he's been cooped up too. So it's just like the clash of, I mean, I guess, but it's like,
Starting point is 00:07:42 there's this giant lobby. Just don't come close until his mask is on. Like, don't be a hall monitor. People are dicks, but I like that you called him a loser monitor. I'm a secret hell monitor. I've only been out to eat twice since this whole pandemic. And the one time I went out, someone walked by my table without a mask and I judged them so hard. Cause it was like, you wear your mask till you get to your table and then you're allowed to sit down and take it off. And they like got up to like greet someone. And I was like, how dare they got to get out of here. Yeah. You have to be aware if you're close to other humans, you have got to put your mask on. Yeah. But anyways, I was scared the rest of the weekend though, to run into this skinny
Starting point is 00:08:22 jean-wearing loser? Fedora. That's when you know. Fedora. That's when you know. All right, Kelty. Okay. Well, I'm going to start with a good week. So we recently had a call from a member of the Lady Gang team that we haven't talked to since our book came out because we kind of released the book into the void of the beginning of the pandemic and then not forgot about it, but it's been a few months or whatever. And we're like, cool. I guess we're not hearing anything. um and we had a call and it was so nice they they said that um the people that are shopping in target are buying like hundreds of the books every week in target and target just restock the books so thank you if you have been in target and been seeing act like a lady like i i felt so happy
Starting point is 00:09:05 about that because i think like target is so cool and like i just i don't know it's cool that we're in target now that they're reordering i feel like okay and you know i've been trying not to live in my accomplishments. I've been trying to just like live my life and be happy for just being- I'm not sure about that, but okay. Okay. So anyway, with Target- Yeah, because neither Becca or I took that away from that conversation. Like this should be my good week. I had forgotten. Me too. Well, here's my bad week and it makes up for it. And it's perfect because, so Kathy Hilton was just announced as being the new member of Beverly Hills.
Starting point is 00:09:38 so I get very random like old early 2000 parts of my life messages on Facebook every once in a while I think I've talked about this how everyone wants to be my friend now that I'm super famous and like the way that they reach me is from on Facebook like people don't have my phone number so anyway I get this fucking text on Facebook and it's this girl that I used to dance with in the early 2000 and she's like, oh my God, I thought this was you, but like a bad picture. It was fucking Kathy Hilton. She's 61 years old. It's better than Steven Tyler. I was not offended by Steven Tyler. I think Steven Tyler is a beautiful man. Look at this picture. Do you think I look like like Kathy Hilton? I mean, she's beautiful. No. So mean, right? I mean, there's something about
Starting point is 00:10:28 you, Kelsey, that like people always up that I gotta be honest. What the common denominator is people in their sixties who've had a lot of work. It's like cat woman kind of vibes. I can't even, I can't, I know. And I'm like, do I look bad? I don't know. Anyway, that's it. Bye Kathy. You're beautiful woman. And I hope that I do look as beautiful as you at 61 but at 38 i'm not feeling like this is my goal oil field work is dangerous even under the best conditions but when companies cut corners or ignore safety it's the workers who pay the price one accident can mean catastrophic injuries lost income and a long road to recovery at trey morris injury lawyers we have the resources and experience to handle oil field

Our guest today is a sassy little British restaurateur, television personality, author, and former actress.

Starting point is 00:13:25 freaking vanderpump wow what an introduction you really did your homework so thank you for that i don't think you missed anything i don't think we needed to do the homework we know you we idolize you we've everybody knows you're the queen too high i'm gonna probably slip under it first of all we're like how are you during quarantine because i feel like it's probably fun to be you in quarantine and be with the dogs and like hanging out and drinking sangria but it's hard to right well there's a lot of fun things about it i have to say because the house that we live in is extraordinary i kind of get claustrophobic sometimes but in this house you never would it's got incredible views and you know having the little ponies having my six dogs
Starting point is 00:14:09 and swans and that animal that I'm married to you know I mean it's like it has been really beautiful and I've really kind of embraced the moment in terms of you know really cooking and making meals special and being adventurous with not sex cooking that I'm appreciating the distance I'm like social distance mother like stay back there um but it's also been i have to be honest really and i don't want to put a damper on it because i'm trying to stay upbeat but having uh had our lives being revolved around our restaurants and being so passionate about them and that being the hardest hit in the game and also financially having to support that whole situation with rents and insurances and everything with nothing coming in it's been really hard we actually closed
Starting point is 00:15:01 villa blanca because the lease was coming up very very shortly because we knew that we wouldn't be able to open inside dining it's got a very small terrace whereas tom tom which isn't open yet pumps opening uh this week and that's got a huge garden tom tom's got a big garden and sir has got a garden and we've also extended onto the street uh vegas has been open for you know since we were allowed to a few months now and that's doing very well but again very cautious there's a lot of kind of things and rules and regulations have been placed to keep everybody safe initially we were very scared of the virus and i think now we're understanding that you know we can learn to live with it i i really didn't see my son who was working in idaho on a ranch um for a while but
Starting point is 00:15:46 then he spent like five months working with autistic kids because he wanted to get out of you know out of la so speaks he lives in an apartment um so it was hard emotionally it was hard not to see my kids i didn't see pandora for a couple of months and her husband jason and i think now we're starting to socialize a little bit but still distancing um you know we're not there's kind of air kissing from 10 foot away you know that type of thing and be able to be outside at villa rosa's great and we're starting to get back to it but it it has been there's been good and bad things but i just feel for so many people that are kind of confined i'm also a big advocate you know for mental health having worked with the Trevor Project and suicide prevention
Starting point is 00:16:31 and also losing my own brother to suicide two years ago was beyond devastating and I understand how life gets too much it really does and people you know maybe will look at me and think oh you know you've got everything and you haven't nobody has everybody gets frustrated everybody gets overwhelmed you know albeit if it's a family issue a health issue a financial issue a business issue that's just life and I think it's been very very tough and I'm happy to feel that we're coming out of it I just wanted to have some sense of normalcy again well I agree and I I love this because you have so many different sort of uh I would say like cocktails on your cocktail list of who Lisa Vanderpump is and I I love when I saw that you're doing the podcast because I think
Starting point is 00:17:19 there is a lot of these stories that maybe didn't fit on reality tv in a one-liner or didn't you know got cropped out of an interview and so is that why you wanted to start a podcast do you want to sort of share these other sides of yourself oh gosh you're so right about that and it's been so much fun i was asked to do it um quite a few months ago and i kept putting it off thinking gosh i'm hardly ever at home i'm hardly ever in one place i was running from here to there i you know have band of pumped dogs and you know we were just kind of like running around like chickens with our head cut off most of the time and i was kept uh i kept thinking about it i'm thinking okay i've really got to do it at a time when i can focus and where will i do it and
Starting point is 00:18:00 then when covid struck we thought okay you know we were just about to launch it and i thought how am i going to do it inside i don't want anybody inside my house i haven't had anybody inside my house i haven't even had you know my housekeeper rosia and maria i haven't seen them for seven months now i've been running this whole so i thought how am i going to do it so we decided to do it outside um and it's just been such an extraordinary experience because Ken's always said to me oh my god you can talk the hide and legs off a donkey and he's always said to me I talk to anybody like sometimes I'll be outside you go who are you talking to out there and I'll go the guy that's like is that the guy sweeping the road or something like that everybody has a story
Starting point is 00:18:40 everybody I find has something interesting to say or a nugget of truth or a nugget of advice or so yeah I think even my social circle is people from all walks of life and I've enjoyed that because I haven't sat in the confines of reality television I've said can we have this person on and they're like really and I'm like yes I'm really kind of fascinated so meeting people like um logan ryan i found extraordinary with the fact that he was so involved in dog rescue and and you really didn't know just knew him as a footballer and i know nothing about football um i found joe frost the nanny fascinating um i just uh steve oh i mean i he was the bane of my life you do have a weird mix it was not what i was expecting i never thought in the world but
Starting point is 00:19:35 were you on dancing with the stars together were you in the same season steve-o no no not what's your connection dancing with us no i was just fascinated by him because he was such an advocate for mental health and he comes across such a crazy and you know he was the bane of my life because having had a son that was the kind of teenage years when his show was on jackass i would always be like can you turn that thing off you know but then i i kind of got to see the funny side of it and have him and I'm going on his podcast. And my son's like, well, if he's coming to, cause he has this band that goes around and you can kind of go into his podcast. My son's like, can I be there? My son has got zero interest in anything, you know, to do with the podcast or
Starting point is 00:20:19 reality television. He always takes backseat, but that's his hero. I love this. Finally, you're cool, mom. Um, yeah, I love this so much. It's there's every once in a while, there's something that happens where you're like, Oh wait, I am. I matter to people. You know what I mean? Like I've got this, I got this on lock. Stevo wasn't expecting it after everything you've done, but okay. Um, so you have this famous quote. So when, when we found out that you were going to be on the podcasts, we were like, you know, brainstorming, like, what are we going to talk about with Lisa Vanderpump? And then we were like, you know, everything, everything. She is, she is our idol, but Becca, do you want to kind of explain like how we go by the Bible of what
Starting point is 00:20:58 says about sex? Yes. So we're all either married or in long-term relationships and we are so sick of our girlfriends who have also been in long-term relationships who pretend to put out more than they really do. Oh yeah, we know the truth. Right? So I just love that you own the fact that it's only birthdays and major holidays, right? That you have sex with Ken. Well, I said that. This is the funny thing this is where i first had a better understanding of uh the fact that american humor is very different to english humor english humor is incredibly aggressive and self-deprecating and nobody gives a flying what you say to each other and in america everybody's hypersensitive about everything so for me of course my husband doesn't care what i say i've said some terrible
Starting point is 00:21:45 things i said all the animals here and a pot-bellied pig that'd be my husband he just looks at me like oh god whatever he knows he's got no chance of controlling me whatsoever and having married me when i was 21 you know he's been incredible because he kind of let me grow and let me you know he's never tried to put those kind of confines on me so well apart from the handcuffs in bed but you know he's always been like he's confident enough and even in you know reality television he speaks his mind he doesn't care if he's in it or he's not you know and um so i remember when i first said oh yes christmas and birthdays and and that would be his birthday because mine's another day off and suddenly we went to new york we went to new york to promote the show
Starting point is 00:22:33 and you know it was all new to me i'd grown up as a young actress in england but i'd given it up i was married i have my kids i was doing everything i was designing our restaurants i was teaching at the kids school for three years I was doing everything and suddenly there I am I'm on the news in New York right it's a little girl from England well I mean living a pretty sophisticated life but I was on the news and they're going so Lisa like this you said Christmas and birthdays I'm thinking oh my god well Evolution the production company have always said that I am the one of their talent I don't know what way they call his talent what our talent is talented being myself i guess um who they said has never asked to cuss anything out because i think
Starting point is 00:23:17 if i got it wrong i should learn from it and if i got it right then bingo right so when i said that i suddenly thought holy shit i think i mean is everybody really gonna take me seriously even though there is an element of truth to that i do think all these people that say they're banging four times every night and by the way i had dr drew on and i got it out of him how often is that What did he say? Oh, baby. Okay, what's going on? Now, here's the Lady Gang.
Starting point is 00:23:49 What I find really interesting is we get asked a ton from our members of the Lady Gang. And they come to us and they say, you know, I met someone and, you know, I know he's the one right away. We're married in two months, in six months or whatever. And then I always, being the K-type that I am, I'm like, absolutely not. It'll never work. You need to get to know each other. but here you are, you guys met, we're married, um, you know, within three months and now you've had this beautiful life together. So you're proof that it actually can work. And I'm probably wrong.
Starting point is 00:24:17 Well, I wouldn't advise it to be honest, because I think 99% of the time it's going to go absolutely terribly wrong because you know, I, I met Ken when I was 21, he'd known my brother for years, he's 15 years older than me. And so we got engaged within six weeks. And I think the exact proposal was we were in bed and he said oh i would never ask you to marry me because i know you'd say no because you said no to your ex-boyfriend didn't want to get married so i would never ask you to marry me but will you live with me i was like no i'd not live with you i bought my own place by the time i was 20 i'd worked two jobs didn't have a penny for my parents or anything had a good education a kick in the ass but i was very like you know kind of self-supporting and i said no no
Starting point is 00:25:02 i don't want to live with you i'm not going to give up my independence then i said well why don't you ask me anyway because it's such a compliment you know and he's like okay well kind of tricked him into it right and he said well will you marry me and I went yes and he was like what oh my god so it was that kind of unprepared and then we went out and bought a ring and the ring when I showed it to him about uh 30 years later about uh seven years ago he just went sorry darling the ring was like a pinprick I knew nothing about anything I just I mean it was just like a little chip of a diamond but I didn't care it wasn't you know I do since and so I kind of we we want to get married in the summer you know English is pretty
Starting point is 00:25:52 kind of uh the weather is pretty gruesome after August and it was like the last weekend in August and uh yeah i mean but one of the keys to our successful marriage and everybody makes mistakes everybody has to have forgiveness in a relationship and everybody has to understand that the trajectory of life is going to be up and down and up and down and and i i think people should pay more attention to vows the vows are even if they're not traditional the whole thing is for better for worse you know in sickness and health for richer or poorer they're basically telling you right at the onset of the marriage that it's not all going to be good it's not all going to be plain sailing and covid again has been one of those things that has really tested us but we put
Starting point is 00:26:41 so much importance on covid and what's going on in life but we're forgetting that my parents were evacuated in the war my grandmother's house was bombed during the war my grandmother was a nurse in the world war ii the generation before you know had world war one i mean there's been so many i think we've been largely privileged you know we talk about 9 11 which was horrific and 3 000 people died i think i can't which was horrific and we've had many many terrorist bombs in in england you know with growing up the ira and things but this generation hasn't really had to live through something as dramatic as maybe our ancestors and that's what life is and i think we have to understand that that we have good days we have bad days we have shitty days we have days you know and
Starting point is 00:27:31 i i understand that and i i worry so much about young people um you know on their own with nobody to reach out to and and i'm a real advocate you know for mental health and having lost my brother's suicide was totally unprepared for that and i don't think he meant to do it i think it was a cry for help but one through these moments i think we really have to um reach out facetime i think you really do feel a connection with facetime that you can connect with people um and that's extraordinarily important because we didn't have that and i remember my brother used to say because he lived in england through facetime and i always felt like i i'd experienced time with him even sitting there having a glass of wine with somebody talking to your friend
Starting point is 00:28:16 so i didn't really encourage people to do that but um yeah life isn't life isn't easy we have to i'm writing a book actually i've had the offer for two years and my last by only book was about entertaining and things and this is really about talking to to young people i really feel like you know i just turned 60 i like to think i'm 45 i think i looked the same as when i was 45 but i did I not and it kind of creeps up on you and I do realize that maybe advice there's a lot of life experience there in terms of you know being married forever adopted a child had a biological child you know loved being a mother but of course sometimes I did chase around the garden with a frying pan and I
Starting point is 00:29:05 couldn't catch them and you know yelled at them get down the stairs and say the same thing over and over and over about getting ready for school and but i loved being a mother i love being a mother so much i i taught at the kids school for three years musical theater with all ages and um i i maybe should have had more children i was very busy with work you know but but life is is tricky and and whether you have money or not of course the more you have more pressures you have more problems you have more demands you have um it's not about that it's about successful relationships that's a real key to happiness i actually believe that first of all that was so well said so beautiful and um i actually believe the key to happiness might be
Starting point is 00:29:52 something that becca jack and i have not had the opportunity to experience yet that we believe that you've experienced so we need to know about and that maybe we're thinking and if that is yachts Can you tell me about yachts? I have it in my mind that when I have a yacht or go on a yacht, I will do something happy. Or a jet. A jet. I've been in a jet, though. I mean, I've been.
Starting point is 00:30:16 But your own jet. Not my own jet, obviously. Let me explain this to you. Tell me about the yachts. The yacht. Right. We built our own yacht. Gosh, you really have done your homework here.
Starting point is 00:30:28 We built our own yacht when we lived in the south of France. god that sounds obnoxious just saying i love it so much we lived in the south of france for seven years and uh we built a boat yes not me literally you have a shipyard i mean i wasn't there banging in clags of wood making a boat a shipyard and it was a boat called polar star and it's an incredible experience i have to say yeah getting on a boat and being in in the mediterranean is a beautiful thing yeah i lie actually that is one of the best things ever um but you know and i had six crew on that boat but you know it's a hole in the water which you pour money into i mean that's what they say they say the best day when you have a yacht is the day you get it and
Starting point is 00:31:16 the second best day is the day you sell it so it's a lot of responsibility yeah um and it was a wonderful experience in our life you know and if this podcast goes well like we could become such good friends that there is like a below deck vanderpump lady gang spin-off where we could like get a boat we could be on a boat we could talk about anything like i you know what they did ask me to go on below deck and i thought i know because i i did run our boat for you know seven years and i love i love having a laugh with people and we had kind of tricks and fun and games and everything and i loved it and everything it was really beautiful because you know i'd like to say everything i do um i make really you know i'm an athlete i like to create beauty in in house
Starting point is 00:32:04 in my house and life and everything uh visually in my restaurants um and it was really beautiful and they asked me to come below deck and i thought no the only way there's any drama to this which obviously fuels the show is me telling everybody what to do and how to do it. And I'm going to come across as a complete bitch. So I'm going to pass. I love this. I mean, I still would have watched it. Yes. No, we really wish this would have happened actually. So speaking of being fancy, I know that in every woman's like cosmetic case, there's one like bargain item. It's like your CVS Walgreens, like a lotion you love that's nine bucks. Like, do you have one for the regulars for the normies of the world like one thing you buy that we could also buy um well i don't actually
Starting point is 00:32:54 in fact i was just looking because through covid it's really funny you i haven't even replaced any makeup so to speak i always use a great foundation um uh just uh like i think it's an estate lauder foundation um but i kind of people send me stuff and and i often try new things even though it's pretty much the same look um there's a lot of like great lip glosses out there and you know things like that that cost nothing that almost identical to all the chanels and the christian diors and all those kind of i don't understand how you get one for 35 dollars and one for five dollars but it's basically the same thing um but i i'd like to take you in my bathroom really with me on my camera because I have just a load of, uh, of different products,
Starting point is 00:33:45 but no, not all designer. That's for sure. Things that I spend money on perfume, love perfume. Um, but yeah, you're such a Becca, Becca, you're literally the same. I just have a question for you about, I think that, like you said, you still look 45. You still look exactly the way that you looked when, when you started working in TV, but what is like, you will see so many women who lose sight of what even looks good anymore. They just do all the shit to their face and they end up looking crazy. Like how did you, what is your key to aging gracefully, but also like not even aging at all, if we're being honest. And looking like yourself. I do look a bit different, I think, over uh the 10 years a little fuller in the face um i'm very very careful about what i do because
Starting point is 00:34:36 i go to this guy dr simon urian who's also one of my best friends and one of your questions was who do i follow on instagram i follow him because he is a genius and i've always kind of worked on skincare with him and and he's really one of my best friends and he is genius he looks after everybody i even took gaga to him he's brilliant he really is he really is and he's um but he's very much no no no no you've got to keep it you know and i'm like i don't want to do anything if it looks like i've done it you know i don't even like even too much botox i don't want the face that doesn't move i and i've done it before sometimes where i thought it looks a bit you know i think the essence to keeping um yourself looking really good is looking after your skin
Starting point is 00:35:21 and I would say there's a couple of things you can do with lasers very lightly because I don't want downtime I would have zero patience for taking a week off with a swollen face I would never do that but lasers doing light lasers I mean you girls all look beautiful I don't know if you've got filters on your thing but you all look like you've got great skin anyway but when you're young you have this tendency to want to lay out in the sun and when people say oh give your skin day off let it breathe no no no don't always keep your skin protected from the elements because you will pay for it later and i see the skin on my face is so different like to the skin of my arms or the skin of my neck you know it's not nearly as good so i always protect my face
Starting point is 00:36:01 and i think that's one thing i think botox brilliant but not too much where your face is literally like you know it doesn't i think people go overboard with that i think i want to see expression on on people's faces um I've even said that to the girls young girls on Vanderpump Rules you know sometimes we see somebody just doing too much I don't like that look I mean I think people like Diane Lane I think she looks incredible for you know her age but she looks real you know she's sexy she's real and Ken doesn't like that kind of look when it's all just too done anyway I think he would kind of yell at me if he felt I was going down that direction I've had a little bit of filler in my top lip uh which for some reason you need to do hardly ever because it
Starting point is 00:36:45 once you've done it it kind of it just stays there but yeah so I've had that done a few times what else do I do yeah Botox that light laser Simon Urien is genius uh so I always follow him and I think there's so much you can do now surgery I don't even know that I would ever do that I had my eyelids uh tightened with laser um you know like that uh slightly on the upper eyes i had nothing done here or i've got the same nose as i had at school um and so no i haven't really but i do think you can do a lot with a little bit of fillers a little bit of this and that and i think i don't think i would ever have a facelift actually i think for me when people say they have the whole thing i don't know i say that maybe but i know i know i'm very squeamish
Starting point is 00:37:34 i don't even have fake boobs these are my own you know so no the og probably love me to have a new pair well the last thing i want to ask you before you help our girls fix their lives is just like you know what is the update with all the shows and all the other television projects because obviously you were supposed to be in production i think on vanderpump rules this summer and it's pushing and like this means we're not going to get new Vanderbilt for like a year like how are you going to do that and will we see the restaurants being closed and COVID and those kinds of things on the shows well if we made a decision not to film and even though we've just opened you know everybody's still wearing masks and everything and at some point you know we'll have to make a
Starting point is 00:38:16 decision on that um there's always new people coming into the restaurant which is exciting um you know to just open like three weeks ago uh i can't speak to that yet because nothing's been decided and i don't want to be chastised for making um remarks out of school so to speak we have another project going on vanderpump dogs is going to start filming soon we had to wait because of and you know i'm such a dog lover but it's been very difficult for me because i have really hardly been out and i've got this incredible staff um you know of people they're just so wonderful at vanderpump dog rescue and through covid we have actually managed to stay open and carried on adopting dogs and it's been wonderful i do raise quite a lot of money for the
Starting point is 00:39:03 foundation through cameo so i do cameo all the time i try to keep up with it we put myself on and so all the proceeds from cameo go to the vanderpump dog foundation so i'm kind of always going happy birthday or thank you and that really means a lot because you know the cameo i charged like 275 we clear like 225 and even 225 dollars you know makes such a difference to the foundation so i try and do as many of those as possible and i've raised quite a lot of money to for the foundation so that's really good um i'm getting back into a band of pump pets which started off as a business we kind of dropped the ball on really because we got so involved with a fight against hewlin and opening our rescue center we've rescued out oh gosh about 1700 dogs now
Starting point is 00:39:51 and we've been very productive and proactive in kind of keeping you know the the center going and my staff do a wonderful wonderful job for me i've been a lot more careful obviously a lot of the younger people that work for me because as i say you know ken's older than me and i'm a blood type So I know they don't do as well and everything. So we've just been very, very careful. Well, I love that. When we come back, Lisa's going to fix your life. I can't wait.
Starting point is 00:40:23 You're listening to The Lady Gang. Now we're back. So for this part of our podcast, we have our listeners writing questions. They really trust us for advice for some reason because usually our advice is not that great. But there are questions about like love and life and career and everything in between. And so, because you're our freaking idol. I'm going to come on here more often. Open invitation.
Starting point is 00:40:46 Please. Okay. So our first question comes from Eleanor. She says, hi ladies. After I spent some time at my boyfriend's family's home, I began to think, what does it take to be a good guest? While I was taught to help with household chores and leave your host with minimal work and a thank you gift, my boyfriend wasn't.
Starting point is 00:41:03 Is this normal or am I just extra nice? oh gosh i think it's really important so she was at her future in-laws yes yeah and absolutely she should ingratiate herself to the family and i think any listen if somebody comes here for dinner and i've i've had you know many house guests over over the years but if somebody comes for dinner then i like to wait on them they're in my house i want to do everything i don't want them taking the dishes to the kitchen or doing anything they're here i'm happy to cook for them um but i think if somebody's there regularly yes i think you should put yourself out but if you're a house guest i think you've got to be really considerate i really do uh just even kind of keeping them even
Starting point is 00:41:50 though you're in your own room so to speak you should still out of respect for the house keep things really nicely and i think you need to kick your boyfriend into touch you know and just say no absolutely if you're a house guest the fact you've been invited and i do think getting on with your boyfriend's parents is a paramount importance it's not a battle that you want to fight you concede you know i don't think ken's mother loved me the first few years because i was 21 and i married him within three months and no one was going to be good enough for her son um but i think she kind of came to love me because that's not a battle you want to fight and i don't think you ever want to put yourself in the middle between boyfriend, mother, and parents. I think
Starting point is 00:42:37 it's a lose-lose for both sides. I love that. Yeah. Was Pandora's husband, when you first met him, was that an easy thing for you to fall in love with him like she did? Oh my God. I'm so lucky because when she had a couple of boyfriends, I mean, she's a little bit like Julie Andrews pandora she's kind of a bit more moral than i am i don't know why i can add that you know like you know even now when uh it says on a t-shirt it says checkmate bitch a line that i said from housewives she would not say the word bitch your checkmate be and i'm like oh my god it's okay to say the word bitch you're like she probably says it with her friends but she wouldn't say she just doesn't ever speak badly um so jason was very old-fashioned kind of is from indiana and i was
Starting point is 00:43:33 blessed because i remember she had a boyfriend at her high school that i didn't like i thought it was really annoying and i let her know um but jason i i loved and uh i really i'm so lucky with jason and also his parents so jason he's got a younger brother that's the same age as my son matt so they they're totally different but they're friendly and um the the family his parents i love his parents so for me we've been really really blessed with that and i know how wrong that can go because i talked openly about ken's son when he married somebody that we we didn't kind of jive with so to speak it's not good because also pillow talk is is kind of way more um influential than parental talk you know yeah you almost like you've got to make your mind up and
Starting point is 00:44:31 get on with your your child's choice really so to speak um let them kind of because you can lose you lose your children because of it you know all right next question comes from Victoria. She says, hi ladies. Four years ago, I moved to Australia with the plan to only stay for a year. However, after a lengthier stay, I've grown to love the lifestyle and the partner I met here, who is also from the UK. The only problem is now that I'm in my thirties and hoping to have kids soon, I can't decide whether to have them here or move home. Should I add that? I'll stay there. Done. I don't even need to finish the question.
Starting point is 00:45:09 What's going on here? Come back. well did you did you have family in the uk when you were here you still do right oh yeah yes i lost my balance mommying and then being on two different places um well no my kids you know what was easier we had the freedom to move around you know when they were younger and one of the reasons we came back to the u.s is we've lived in the u.s until pandora was about was she about 10 then we moved back to to England and then we moved to France for a few years we lived in France for seven years and then Pandora was deciding whether you know where to go to university to college and she was valedictorian she could have pretty much gone anywhere and so
Starting point is 00:45:57 we talked about it and I really feel that when kids go to college they make their lifelong friends more than anything you know if they're lucky enough to go to college and so we were living in the south of france so she was either going to go to college in london and then we talked about going back to the us and um and we came back here and then max was um he was about 12 when we came back here max is american anyway he was born here and he was born in and we adopted him from foster care so when he was very young you know just a little tiny baby so yeah America's always been a big part of our life but it was very difficult for me even now my father's in hospital and for the first time he's never really been sick at all he fell and he broke his shoulder and then he
Starting point is 00:46:45 came out and he's had a full-time nurse at his house because my mother died last year so that it's all been very difficult you know my brother died and then within that year my mother died unexpectedly so there was no closure for either of them you know my brother literally died and we were devastated and then my mother died of a blood clot so she was dead within 10 minutes so it was pretty hard and then my father's been in hospital i do face time with him every day and it's funny actually because the nurses are fans of the show so they kind of really help you know i kind of talk with them and chat with them um but they're trying to get the inside scoop from you. I know. Right. But it's been difficult not being able to go over
Starting point is 00:47:27 there because you've got to do the quarantine and you know, couldn't go into the hospitals and everything. But yeah, I think it's coming out today. So that's good. Oh, that's great. Okay. We have one more question. Are you ready? I'm ready for anything. Okay. So last question comes from RG. RG says I'm a 24 year old gay guy living in London who recently made the error of setting up my last two single male friends only to realize that after they started dating that i may have a thing for one of them oh this is out of a reality show it just so happens that we hooked up in the past and have been friends for 10 years i don't know what to do and how to best approach this situation as i can't sabotage them and i want them to be happy
Starting point is 00:48:06 how do i get over my feelings and remain friends with both of them lisa i feel you have so much experience in dealing with these kind of happening what dealing with gay menage a trois thank you yeah okay um wow well i guess i would sit it out for a little while and see if your feelings diminish and watch the relationship very closely um but is it a case of wanting what you can't have because when it was available to you why didn't you want it that's what i would ask myself why right i'm suddenly thinking just because they're happy am i thinking am i losing out you know what sight when you have the choice to do whatever you want and somebody takes away the choice you want to even more so i would wait a while um and also i would ask myself what's the most
Starting point is 00:48:55 important thing to me is the friendship more important than having a go at the relationship and if that fails then i would jump into bed with both of them now on that note ladies and gentlemen this is why you are going to want to every tuesday after you listen to lady gang you're going to want to hop over to wherever you're getting your podcast and listen to Lisa Vanderpump.
