Starting point is 00:00:00 well what is this welcome to the lady gang that's amazing say that again the lady gang things are about to change around here each week we catch up with hollywood's hottest girl posse kelty knight becca tobin and jack vanik hello hello hello welcome to the lady gang i am becca tobin you're with jack vanik and kelty night hello hello hello how is everyone doing chilling yo chilling oh my god i am just i'm so i'm i'm nervous to tell you guys am i good week bad week um okay well let's do it i'm nervous to hear now it's time for good week yes it is bad week oh no i'm gonna go first because i have to get this off my, um, out of my system. First of all, I, um, I was talking about this last week
Starting point is 00:00:54 or a couple of weeks ago. Um, I'm gonna do my good week first and then I'm telling my bad week. My good week is that, um, I talked about the fact that I was on Reddit and I was Googling myself on Reddit and I found myself in pretty older women and I was like kind of honored. Wait, should we use, um, hashtag pretty older women along with sexy mature? Yeah. Pretty older women. Um, and So this, this week on the podcast, I want to tell you the other Reddit that I found myself under, and I'm also honored by this one. It's a, it's a good week. Um, and Reddit has something for everyone.
Starting point is 00:01:25 Yeah. So I thought people were really into my feet, you know, cause I have a five-star wiki feet, feet. Um, but I was going down Reddit and I found myself in celebrities in tights. It's a collection of just celebrities wearing tights. And the photo they used is from when I did Roxy Hart for the Thanksgiving day parade, best day of my life. um and i'm wearing a black tight and i had a beautiful photo i'm in a nice bevel i'm in the
Starting point is 00:01:49 costume i wear tights a lot on e-news too because like if you're just not having a leg day or your dress is too short a black tight i mean more in the winter obviously but anyway celebs and tights i'm honored anytime i'm in a collection that says celebs um and it's like i mean i'm assuming there's like a sexual undertone to this but i'm sure yeah i'm sure or is it like pinterest when i'm like i don't know how to style these loafers and it's like outfits with loafers or is it more i don't i don't think it works that way yeah it's not like yeah it's not like a lady is looking for inspiration it's men looking for weird shit for niche niche things niche fetishy things yes um okay my bad week is i i'm gonna be a little vague here and i'm sorry it's because i don't want to go
Starting point is 00:02:37 to jail. Um, I, I'm, I'm a night, I, I, I'm a nice person. I'm saying this first. I'm a nice person and I've been working very hard on being nicer when I meet people and just like being more alive and being a little bit more of like a give and take kind of girl, less of a robot. Um, and I'm a girl's girl. Like I will, I will help you. I will meet you for coffee. I will edit your reel for you like people call me all the time a few weeks ago I hosted Miss USA with Garcelle she missed rehearsal because she was like her flight was late and I literally was like holding her hand brushing her hair telling her what to do telling her what to say like helping her and she just looked at me and she was like oh my god are you always like this you're so nice you're such a
Starting point is 00:03:22 girl's girl and I was like well you're obviously traumatized from your housewife season but like I do consider myself like I work with women all the time I'm really supportive unless you with me Yeah. I have done something so evil. I have done something so evil. You guys, I can't even believe I did it. I have forced karma on someone who was a real dick to me. Real dick. I can't, I can't even, I honestly can't even have you ask questions because it's too, but I'm, I'm telling you all that deep down inside of me, there is a real evil person. It actually scares me. It scares me how evil I can be. Um, I did something so evil. No one will ever know it was me. I know no one will ever know. It's impossible to trace, but I went and really did the Lord's karma for someone.
Starting point is 00:04:21 and i feel 10 guilty about it um i 90 i feel justified and i felt bad about it but then i thought about our lord and savior jojo siwa and what she would say and she would say karma's a bitch so i just want everyone to know you should be the first person to use that phrase no did she coin that but she should get credit for it i think i'm a very nice person and i'm not outwardly like gonna you over you know what i mean you're never gonna know you're not gonna know where it came from definitely you stood in someone's you stood in someone's way of getting a job i can't tell you that's the only thing i can think of that you ever do because it's also the only thing that kelty cares about it's not like she's gonna like like she's not gonna call
Starting point is 00:05:12 someone's husband and be like, your wife's cheating. She's going to be like, live your life, girl. Yeah. I mean, I did hire a private investigator when my best friend's husband was cheating and caught him at the park. Well, that's because you cared about your friend. That's not the juggler that you would go for because you don't care about that. No. Okay. Well, is this a famous person? Yeah. Oh yes. Is it somebody that we hate too? she can't tell I'm done telling the story I'm just letting you know have I met them before you should I can't tell you I this is not fun for us or the listener I'm scared for myself that's it I'm like I need to know more oh my god um Jesus okay I'm gonna go next but I need
Starting point is 00:05:57 I got I'm gonna figure this out okay I'm gonna start with my bad week so you guys know that I have been complaining about being bloated for the past year straight and I'm like is it like a gut thing is it like endo I don't know I went to my gyno I was like I think maybe with these symptoms I might have endo um and then she's like take some birth control and didn't like offer me any solution whatever so I posted about it on Instagram and I was like oh yeah I don't know what's going on and I had a bunch of our lady gangers be like you should go to your fertility specialist because they might be able to like help you better than your gyno obviously did nothing so I made an appointment with CCRM who did my embryos yep and I was like you know because I heard that they
Starting point is 00:06:37 you know worked with like endo stuff so I was like hey like same thing blah blah blah and I'm like the reason why my doctor thought that I probably do have endo is I have this like fibroid on my uterus that they found when I had appendicitis and like whatever and she's like okay well like tell me more about the like the fibroid like what's going on with that I was like I don't know like my gyno didn't really say much about it like they measure it every like year or so and so she's like okay well let's do an ultrasound so they go and she does the ultrasound and she's looking around she's looking around my ovaries and she goes oh that's not just like a little fibroid it's eight and a half centimeters on my uterus which is three inches so I have a three inch ball
Starting point is 00:07:19 basically on the front of my uterus and I can feel this and I have asked my doctor friend questions I'm like because I always thought it was poop I was like can you feel like poop in your stomach like before it like comes out because when I lay down and I do like my stomach massages it's literally and I have like a video of it it's a ball in my stomach like it's a hard ball on the lower part of my stomach and it's huge like literally this big yeah and then she was doing like the ultrasound she's like yeah that's your ovary and then she goes over and she's like see this big black spot that's covering the entire screen she's like that's the fibroid on your uterus. So she was like, this could be what's probably is what's causing like all of your
Starting point is 00:08:03 symptoms. And I looked it up because I was like doing research. It's called a subserosal fibroid and all of the symptoms are like a feeling of heaviness and fullness in the lower abdomen, which remember when I made you guys touch my stomach and it was hard as a rock. Yeah. Yeah. Frequent need to urinate. Oh my God. Peeing all the time. Constipation, bloating, abdominal pain, cramping enlargement of the lower abdomen pain during such sex which is something that i started having in the last two years and i never i thought it was like maybe when they took my eggs out i like something happened yeah but like i have like cramping kind of when we have sex lower back pain leg pain and then an ability to urinate but i'm like this so are they gonna take a solution so i
Starting point is 00:08:46 actually have an appointment today with a specialist because i want to get it because it so last when i did my prenuvo scan last year it was six centimeters because i went to go check so it's grown two and a half centimeters in the past eight months so it's just going to continue to grow and get bigger and like become just this big ball in my stomach so i'm going to probably get it removed but and then when they're in there they can at least go check if i do have endo too because you know you have to do the surgery to check but you should also talk to this is like stupid and nobody listening needs to, well, maybe they do. Um, apparently for any kind of like endo situation, you need to go to a very, very, very specialized person. So like when they're in there,
Starting point is 00:09:28 they can check it out, but don't let them do any removing of it. Like you need to go to Kelty's doctor who did her hysterectomy because any OBGYN might tell you they can handle the endo, but really it's like something, and I'm sure that some can, but it's something that is really specialized no i know i'm part of nancy's nook endometriosis facebook yes because that's like where all the things are but yeah that's what they're saying they're like because people do like an ablation sometimes where you like need to actually get it taken out um but anyways i'm on this journey glad you have your answer i mean i'm not happy about your fibroid but i'm happy you have an answer because i know yes frustrating well it's been like the bloating is literally
Starting point is 00:10:08 insane like i will it'll be like before i even like eat anything in the morning and i'm like my stomach feels like I'm like five months pregnant and it's only in the lower part of my stomach. It's the weirdest feeling. And I knew it was something weird and not just like, I'm sure I have some gut things going on, but like, yeah, it's, it's something weird. And so I feel very validated. So I will tell you, Jack, like people, you know, obviously the hysterectomy like removed a uterus and stuff, but that endo, the endo of it all is so brutal. Like going through these last few months without the swelling pain, um, rock in the gut feeling the, like I'm wearing a dress and I'm like, why do I have like this rock in my stuff? Like I totally get that feeling.
Starting point is 00:10:54 And once it's gone, you don't realize how much you were suffering. Like I feel so incredible now that I'm so excited for this journey for you. And I hope that they do. And I will absolutely get you in with um dr seedhoff like he's amazing yeah no i'm so excited i just like yeah it like ruined it literally like ruins every day because i'm like i feel disgusting and like weird it just feels weird like it literally feels like there's something like the foreign object object which there is well so and it moves around and it would be hard if you know when you're trying to have a pregnancy no it like sometimes it's like on the right side because she said it's like hanging off my uterus so it's not like a tat yeah so it like moves around in my stomach and I kept trying
Starting point is 00:11:37 to have my mom feel it I was like feel it she's like no I make Jared feel it um anyways my good week is when she was in there she was doing the ultrasound like moving around like looking at my ovaries and she was like oh she's like you have uh a lot oh my not a fibroid follicles she's like you have a lot of follicles and she's like not just for your age but just like in general so I was very, um, cause usually, you know, you, you like after 35, everything goes absolutely into the gutter, but I've got some like, but you already have embryos. So you don't have to use those follicles ever again. It just made me good. Feel young. Yeah. I'm like, I'm not dried up in there. I just have a massive ball, but you know, so weird. I can't wait to see it. I'll make you
Starting point is 00:12:25 feel like this weekend. No, thank you. Um, okay. So my good week is actually that we are going to be seeing each other for non recording, um, extravaganzas and the tour. Like I just, I dreaded, to be honest, I always dread going on tour. Not because I don't love it. I know that once I get there, I'm going to love it. It's just a lot of anticipation. And also like, quite frankly, I've been feeling a lot of like pressure to make sure that my good week, bad weeks are like entertaining and like, you know, so it's like, it just gets, you don't know what's going to happen until you're there on the stage. And it's always works out fine. And we always have the best time. But I, I'm actually, the way we scheduled this tour is my favorite. A one weekend a month,
Starting point is 00:13:13 you get to, we get to travel together. We get to eat together. We get to have fun together. And then we go home and do our thing. And then we come back a month later, have a little bit, a little vacation stay, you know, in a cute Chicago hotel or whatever. So I'm feeling very happy. And also the fact that, um, I won't have a newborn on this one. So it'll be super exciting. It'll be a little bit different. My bad week is that, um, so every time I have a dog in my life pass away, I always say I'm never getting another dog cause I never want to have to deal with the death of a dog, but I stupidly, but in, you know, greatly, I adopted, not adopted. I bought, don't come for me, Barbara for Orly so that Orly had a pal. Now Orly is gone and Barbara is so sad.
Starting point is 00:14:01 She's been so depressed. She's never lived her life without a sibling. You know, Orly went seven years without having a sibling. So now she was like, I don't want Barbara. Exactly. And when Barbara came along she was like really bitch really um but now Barbara is so sad she's so depressed she lopes around and now I'm like I'm gonna have to get another dog the cycle continues and that's the thing I'm like why do I keep doing this but I want to get another dog but then again life is getting more simplified you know with Ford going to school and only having the one dog listen I would take Orly back for another 20 years but I will say there's certain things where it's like it's life is just getting simpler with less animals in my house.
Starting point is 00:14:46 But I don't know. I mean, if I took a picture, I'm going to take a picture of Barbara right now. We can put on Instagram. This is what she does all day long. She's literally shoved herself into a corner by the door, using the doorstopper as like a pillow. It's so sad. You guys, I don't know like how long this goes on. I've never had two dogs at once. I don't know, but that's so sad for her. It's so depressing. It's just so sad.
Starting point is 00:15:09 Like, does she need therapy? Does she need friends? I mean, what about a cat? I'm allergic and so is Zach. Oh, look at her. She's so sad, you guys. Well, could she be sunbathing? She is in the sun.
Starting point is 00:15:23 Well, yeah, but she just kind of does this all day now. It's only been a couple weeks, so I'm trying to give it a little time. Give it a little time before you make a rash purchase. Yeah. I know. I know. You know, see if she perks back up. Yeah, we'll try. All right. Well, who's coming up?
Starting point is 00:15:39 When we come back, Lauren Speed, the OG, most successful, love is blind queen is here. Queen. Okay. So one last like sort of good week add on is that it is a very important sort of month at Macy's, who's one of our great sponsor partners. And they have something kind of cool happening this month that I wanted to tell everybody about. So Macy's has partnered with the Jed Foundation and the National Alliance on Mental Illness to ensure that young people have the tools and resources they need to support their wellbeing year round. And you know, this is very, very important to me. And I'm not a big fan, and we've talked about this before, guys, about rounding up
Starting point is 00:16:24 when you check out, when they're like, do you want to round up? And I'm like, no, I don't want to round up. But this month you can round up at Macy's for actually a good cause. And so you round up your in-store purchases and you can also donate online and you can support the Jed Foundation and the National Alliance on Mental Illness to empower young people, obviously to help get them resources and most importantly, to support institutional programs at schools and campuses. And which I love because when you were growing up, Jack, was there like any sort of like talk about mental health at school? No, no. I feel like this is something that our generation is now just talking about. And it's great because the younger generations are being more vocal about
Starting point is 00:17:05 it. So that's why I love Macy's partnering to help that because there are so many people out there that are too scared to ask for help. And I think that this is just one step further for just us being a little bit happier. What's really crazy is that I think of all the stupid things I learned in school, like I remember specifically learning how to make like bread from scratch. And I was like, I mean, maybe during the pandemic that helped me, but like, it would have just been so nice. We had a whole class called health, but like, what did we learn? Like, I mean, health was like, I think, you know, how the bodies work, I guess, but it would have been physically, but we could have learned a little bit more about mentally. I feel like if we would have had like a
Starting point is 00:17:46 few tools or something, like, it's just crazy that, you know, it took all this time for us to be able to, you know, do something like this. And I do love what you said, like that teens are now sort of more inspired. And so, um, you know, I love that Macy's has partnered with the Jed foundation. And of course now through September 14th, you can round up in store, support Macy's in their partnership. They're trying to do some good out there. So while you get like a cute new outfit for fall, they have such great coats. They have some great beauty stuff. Like I just got a new air fryer, like Macy's has everything. Um, and while, you know, while you do that roundup, help them out. I love that they're doing this and you can learn more at Macy's.com
Starting point is 00:18:24 slash purpose. This month, round up at Macy's for a good cause. Round up your in-store purchases and you can also donate online and you can support the Jed Foundation and the National Alliance on Mental Illness to empower young people, to help get them resources and to support institutional programs at schools and campuses. Get your mental health on. Thanks, Macy's. Thanks Macy's. Now back to the lady gang. Our guest today is an entrepreneur author and one of our favorite TV personalities after finding love on love is blind and then appearing on the goat alongside our friend, Kristen Doty. She is so inspirational and she has launched a mega media career, YouTube, Instagram podcast. She's got it all. And she's here with us today. Please
Starting point is 00:19:13 welcome the beautiful Lauren Speed. Thank you. Wow. That was great. I need you to do that everywhere I go. We're so excited to have you. So Lauren and I met a few like months ago. We did an event for Marshalls in Atlanta and she hosted the entire thing. Like she was like the mistress of ceremonies and we were hanging out backstage and I just loved your energy and you're so easy breezy. And it was just really, really, really fun to meet you. So I want to start with a big congratulations to you because you won netflix's cutest couple oh well is there even a competition who else was nominated i say the same thing but no our supporters go so hard for us and that was like a big thing for me and kim because i think that it really made a statement
Starting point is 00:20:02 just that even if the show came out four years ago like our supporters are still riding hard like they don't play about us so it was such an honor uh the event was super fun we got to go there and meet like all of the other netflix reality stars some of them for the first time from all of the different shows so it was a good time were you starstruck by any of the other couples oh you know who i was starstruck by have you guys seen love on the spectrum yes oh my god What? So Connor was there. And so me and Kim walked up to Connor. We're like, we love you so much. And he was like, thank you. And his mom was there and it was great. So I was like, aren't they so cute? So sweet. Love them. So for people who don't watch love is blind. Um, you were season
Starting point is 00:20:52 two, season one, season one, you were the OG, right? Season one, you went on the show and you actually found love and now you are married to the person that you met and have all these businesses together. Um, what was your, like, what was happening in your life when you applied to be on the show? Because I always find it interesting. Yes. Now everyone signs up for these things because they're like, I would be great on this, or I want to go on the bachelor. But like when it's a brand new show that you've never heard of, like, how did you get involved? Were you trying to get into entertainment or were you like, just, I can't find a man? uh well I definitely couldn't find a man so that's what that's what led me to the show to
Starting point is 00:21:31 continue to do it but just at the time my life was actually in a semi-dark place um I had quit my corporate job I was working on my business that I have my media company it had kind of slowed down I was struggling I was depressed and then the previous relationship that I had had ended maybe like almost a year before so your girl was down I was down pretty bad and so I received a DM from one of the casting directors and she's yeah she DM'd me because I never wanted to do reality TV that was just not my thing even though I did modeling and I did radio I'm a creative like that you know I watch reality TV and I think about people throwing drinks in each other's face and that's not me so when I first saw the DM I was like no that's that's not for me and
Starting point is 00:22:19 then she was so persistent her name's Lauren Spears so then she was like will you date and you don't get to see the person I was like oh you don't get to see them like that's interesting because so many of my other dates have been so surfish sorry surface surface and selfish hell and um you know it was just dead ends terrible dates you know um so I was just like well I'm kind of drawn to the fact that I won't be able to see him so our connection will be just based off the things that we have in common like not how hot he is or he likes how big my boobs are so you know I was really drawn to that and then I decided to do it and the rest is history how did they describe the show to you in the beginning and how was it different than what you kind of thought it would
Starting point is 00:23:08 have been um you know what they said well it's gonna be a dating show we're gonna put you guys in these rooms you're gonna talk through a speaker and you get to date 15 guys so they really kept the details honestly kind of under wraps they did not tell us much which is crazy thinking about it because i'm just gonna share this on the lady gang exclusive because we had to meet up at a hotel i was like please don't let me get kidnapped like please let this be a real show oh my god because we couldn't bring our phones and then uh once we met the producers and everything they will ride us around in these like uh big huge vans with garbage bags on the windows oh because they didn't want a chance of seeing the guys each other yeah so that was kind of scary i was like
Starting point is 00:23:53 please be a real show but you know eventually i realized okay this is a real thing we got to set and it was for real did they tell you about the engagement engagement and then like wedding portion of it so they said you know you're gonna date for about 10 days uh up to 10 days a little bit over a week and then if you feel a connection then someone could possibly propose to the other and I was like I'm not getting married like that was never that was never in my mind even though I was open-minded to meeting someone I was like this is a cool way to meet someone and they're in Atlanta and my dating life sucks why not I'm open to it like what's the worst that can happen actually have a husband and that's what happened six years later but um yeah I never expected to
Starting point is 00:24:41 really go on there and really I didn't think it was gonna happen that's why when it started happening while we were filming I was getting scared because I was like oh my god I really like this guy like I really feel real emotions developing we cried on our second date that was it for me because I had never cried on a date never cried in front of like a guy just been that vulnerable and we cried over our love for our family we just got overwhelmed talking about I love my mom I love my mom too so I was just like this is a connection that I've never had before with anyone so it was special why do you think it's worked so well for you guys it's like you know there have been some success stories and there's still some relatively new but how many
Starting point is 00:25:25 you guys are years in like four years it'll be six years this year wow we've been married yeah Why do you think you guys have worked out? I think that we worked out, well, for one, starting with the show. When we were on there, we were very honest with each other. We were being ourselves. We weren't trying to, like, ham it up and be a character for reality TV. Because in my mind, I was like, I don't want to go on there pretending to be someone and then marry someone. And they think I'm that person.
Starting point is 00:25:53 And that's not me. So it was super important for me to be my authentic self. Same with Cam. and I think that the foundation honestly of the show of the communication aspect of our dates just kind of getting to the root of whatever it is that you want to say right away like no beating around the bush this is how I feel this is what I like this is what I don't like you said this the other day it kind of upset me and that's honestly carried us through our marriage like we still communicate like that like we don't hold back wow and you guys were the first he was the first
Starting point is 00:26:25 to propose right yes he was so so it's just like so crazy to me did you have um which i also you guys are like love is blind sweethearts like i think it kind of skewed my um expectations for the show after because i'm like oh we'll have another lauren and camp of course there'll be another one and then like there never has been one like you guys like you guys are like perfection to me when it comes to the couples but um you obviously dated the other guys too like did anybody say anything really weird like were there creeps what were like were there weirdos did like what was the vibe there were definitely some weirdos um okay so when we will go on with the dates with the guys we have these little notebooks so we will write
Starting point is 00:27:14 in like nah not feeling him like him and then so the producers will read all of our notes afterwards And if it really wasn't a connection going on, then you would just kind of stop dating those other people. Yeah. So it kind of whittled down. Maybe you just started talking to three guys or two guys. But there were definitely some creeps, girl. Oh, my God. And there was definitely some awkward conversations. And I like going into Love is Blind, my mindset was I am not here for games. I'm not here to waste time. I'm not if I don't feel it. I'm just like, you know, I think we're better as friends. yeah i don't i'm not feeling the spark but it was definitely some stuff that got cut out the pods to
Starting point is 00:27:54 me are like the most interesting part of the show and these later seasons they're showing more of them but they didn't show much in ours because there was so much gold in there there was so much gold i want them to bring you guys back as like coaches you know how i'm like the bachelor they'll bring back past bachelors and kind of talk them through i do wish because you guys obviously have really good communication styles and that's why it worked. I bet you could coach some of these girls into asking the right kinds of questions. And like, cause I always think about if I were in that pod, I don't even know where I would start. Like I don't even know how to get to the heart of a person and you and camp both really are so good at it. They need to bring you back
Starting point is 00:28:33 as consultants. Yeah. I mean, Netflix, I'm here. She's ready. There's been many people that have have wanted you guys to be the hosts, me included, but I've seen that swirling around the internet a lot. Yeah. And that's, that's a question I wanted to ask. So there's been so much up and down about Nick and Vanessa and like, obviously from an entertainment standpoint, when Netflix is launching a show, you need famous people to be the host, especially if you're going to have a rotating cast of characters, right? You need like the outward facing who can do the press, who can talk to the magazines, like all that. And you know, Nick and Vanessa, Vanessa has been a TV host Allison's TRL. I mean, she's an incredible, incredibly talented host. And I love the idea
Starting point is 00:29:14 of her, Nick and Vanessa, but they're not really on it. You know what I mean? Like how much did you see the hosts when you were in the show? Was it just the reunion or did they come check on you? Were they mentoring you? You know what? Throughout the whole filming, I think Vanessa and Nick only peeked in on the first day that we got there when we did the wedding dresses, like the big moments, Then they popped in on our wedding, which I don't think they popped in on anyone else's wedding. So I was like, oh, this is special. They brought Nick and Vanessa to their wedding. And so I saw them definitely under four to five times the whole time that we were filming for that two months.
Starting point is 00:29:52 So they weren't there that often. What are your thoughts on like the hatred they get as hosts? I mean, I hate that they get hatred as hosts. I mean, Vanessa and Nick are so sweet. Vanessa is so personal. I think that she's a great host. Same with Nick. i do understand that you know i love them i think they're a good host that i think that the viewers
Starting point is 00:30:12 like you mentioned uh they mentioned cam and i because we've already had that experience like that's a once in a lifetime experience not a lot of people know what it's like to go on that show and fall in love so i mean nobody can kind of explain that but us especially being the first season the ogs you know it makes sense to me yeah but well i definitely respect them so they can do their thing they just weren't asking the right questions at the reunion for the past couple because also it's gotten so much more dramatic as these seasons have gone on and i feel like they like try to mix and mingle like almost matches and stuff like that more to just like drum up the drama which i love drama but like that's what i think that your season was a little bit different
Starting point is 00:30:54 because it was a little bit more straightforward i guess of like absolutely what i'm interested in is what were you when you weren't in the pods and filming and you weren't allowed to be like mixing and mingling what were you doing like were you just in a hotel room by yourself no they're in the house with each other right i don't so basically there was a set and then there was a hotel so we were on the set 16 to 18 hour days oh yeah it was crazy it was crazy so when we got back to the hotel and we shared rooms i was uh roommates with gg if you guys remember from my season and me and amber were also roommates separately because if it was a group of girls they went home they we they would reconfigurate yeah who was staying with each other they couldn't
Starting point is 00:31:39 even give you your own room girl it's a whole story it's a whole story and what if you both were falling for the same guy at the same time it happened that happened yeah originally it was supposed to be trailers but it was a roach in the trailers we were supposed to like be we were supposed to be on the actual sound stage well thank god that didn't work out oh yes the girls were like hell no we are not about to have a sleeper roaches so then they broke down and they got us the hotel rooms so fancy outside of that we would just go to sleep in the hotel rooms i remember it was one time when me and gg we were rooming together we got off the set and then we went in we're like we don't have any tv there's no music what are we gonna do so gg randomly like
Starting point is 00:32:21 was searching through the room she's very whimsical she's very yes and so she like found a bible she's like let's just flip through it and see what verse it lands on and it was some random verse and she's like yes this is speaking to me listen you gotta do what you gotta do wow it's like you're in prison together i know it felt like it sometimes wow you're listening to the lady gang i'm very interested in um because i you know created an executive produced a show a couple years ago where I had to get contestants and I was shocked by the amount of casting, like how difficult it is to cast. And then the amount of psych evaluations and all these things you have to do. Can you discuss a little bit about what you're testing and auditions and psych evaluations and
Starting point is 00:33:13 handing over your unborn babies to like Netflix? Like what, what did, what was that all entailed? Absolutely. So the whole process from when they first reached out to me to when I actually walked on stage to the show was probably about six to eight months so it took a long time the casting it started with the dm then it was a follow-up zoom then once they liked me on that zoom i had to get on another zoom and another zoom and then they're like okay well we like you enough to uh test you for your psyche vow so i had to go and speak to some random psychologists and they give you this long form it's like 50 pages long and you're checking like yes i do feel this way when people drink my juice it makes me angry or it doesn't make me angry side notes i think that
Starting point is 00:34:02 some people probably did not pass the psyche vow but they just have them on the show anyway it was some characters in there yeah um so yeah it's just a whole whole entire long lengthy month-long process to the point where i didn't even think i made the show like it had been six to eight months i was actually out of town i was in paris and i hadn't heard from them this was like three days before they were supposed to start filming so i'm like okay i didn't make it you know i'm kind of sad and then so you know i received a text and they said lauren you know we want you to come on the show then they called me and i was like oh my god i have three days i have to get clothes yeah so it was for me it was very long because i had even been like oh i
Starting point is 00:34:46 didn't make it that was like a big hurry up and wait now on bachelor they talk about like a packing list they're like bring this you need this you need this was it the same thing did they give you a packing list they did well they gave us direction they said bring something comfortable bring something sexy that you would wear on dates and then they said bring something that you would gift someone who you would like to date that represents you or something like that and you're like here's what you bring panties yeah what did i bring i think well i forgot to bring something So when we were on set, I was like, yeah, give Cam some Hennessy because I liked Cognac at the time. It turned out he liked Cognac, too.
Starting point is 00:35:26 That was the whole thing, the whole story behind when I was like, Cam, I think I love you. Like right in that moment, I was like, I love Hennessy. He said, I love Hennessy, too. And I was like, Cam, I think I love you. But they cut it to make it. I mean, I do love him. But it was from that moment. But I love the Hennessy a little bit more at the moment.
Starting point is 00:35:44 I love Hennessy. um okay and then I want to know contractually like did they own your future and your relationship like you know when you get married obviously married but then this vow renewal that you did or children that you have like did they have the first right of like we get to make a special out of that no matter what um definitely for a certain amount of time so I think that we had to be exclusive to netflix and um the production company for a year after its release so but that of course a year after its release that's when the show blew up and we got all these crazy offers and all this stuff was happening so um there was a period of exclusivity that was kind of a downer a little
Starting point is 00:36:28 bit because it was like and then well i don't want to get into all that but it wasn't the best deal that's all I'm gonna say um but you know I'm going on a reality show for the first time I'm not thinking that I didn't think that the show would blow up and I would get all these opportunities and stuff like that also Kim and I after the show came out we went into Target and we saw a love is blind board game and we're like what we didn't even know they made a board game we better not be on this damn game so we open we open the box and they had like a little note that said lauren and kim sitting on the table they didn't put our faces in it but i was like that's our likeness but then we looked back like girl i contacted the lawyers and everything
Starting point is 00:37:09 we signed off our uh yeah you sign away your life yeah for the show how was the nda is your nda still going um no so my nda is not well it's well it's she's trying to be the host of the show she's not gonna go and spill any tea that she's not supposed to tip well i'm just wondering because like some shows ndas are like like the bachelor of your life insane yeah i mean i think at this point i'm free to say what i want to say i did have a podcast with netflix up until the top of the year so they also had me like in the contract like i can't speak just you know bad things about netflix and things like that but technically i'm out of that now but i just don't think it would be in good taste for me to bash them so you know i don't really have much to bash them about what
Starting point is 00:37:59 you recently did your vow renewal what was that like oh my god we did our vow renewal in vegas it was amazing because when you get married on tv you can't really control the things that you want to control you know so we're supposed to do a um renewal like back around covet time after the show came out because we could tell where people were in a relationship we've been together for two years like we want to renew our vows then the world shut down so we couldn't do that so we ended up waiting and waiting and then we're like five years this is the perfect time so we flew some of our family members we went to vegas we're at the bellagio i got a chance to see ursha baby yes and um we renewed our vows and it was so beautiful i yeah it was amazing so speaking of
Starting point is 00:38:47 the weddings i've like done some research about it so netflix like pays for the what like the basic wedding right and then it's like if you want any like bells and whistles you do it for yourself what did your wedding end up being in that the the grand scheme of things in that um i don't know the exact cost but i did i was very because i was one of those girls who had like a dream like i want my wedding to have flowers and did it so i wasn't expecting to get married on reality tv so some of that stuff I couldn't do but the producers were very nice and they were like well whatever you want we're gonna try to get for you um so I got the dress that I wanted that was available because we we could only pick from what was there if we didn't like what was there then of course
Starting point is 00:39:32 if we ordered it if it went over our budget that we had to pay the difference so I like my dress I like my flowers the cake was good only thing is that during the wedding we didn't really get a chance to enjoy the moment because there were even times when they stopped us like i know you love each other but pause can we set the camera up over here like this is our wedding no like cam and i don't even remember tasting the cake like it was literally okay you did this now this now this it got to the point where we even had to tell the producers like look we know this is for tv please this is still our wedding our family flew into town let us have these moments and even to the point where my dad had got upset because after they got everything that they wanted of
Starting point is 00:40:16 course they rented the tux for the show they're like okay well we're done Kim can you take the tux off so and this is like the wedding was still going on can you take the tux off so we can return it my dad was like hell no he's not taking the tux off this is his wedding that's crazy yeah so reality and that's probably why the renewal like meant a lot right absolutely we did it on our terms we did it our way how we wanted to do our time frame and it was perfect I love that and then how has like been navigating this you're a couple you're a couple who fell in love and got married on television and then you're trying to have your career like I think the show has you know in some ways it can when people do shows like this it kind of can ruin your career but I feel like America
Starting point is 00:41:02 fell in love with you guys so it's probably opened a lot of doors but like how has that been since you became like America's couple? We've been very blessed. You know, like you said, luckily we have gotten a lot more love than hate, which sometimes that doesn't always happen on reality TV most of the time. And we've kind of been able to maintain that vibe in our social media presence. Like I mentioned earlier, our supporters go so hard for us and brands take notice and we get opportunities to host things prior to going on Love is Blind. Like I mentioned I already worked in media I was doing hosting things radio and my own YouTube stuff so when I got the opportunity and brands came coming I was like oh I'm ready for this like yes I'll do the
Starting point is 00:41:48 opportunities because it's honestly that was my career path in the first place so it's amazing how those things melted together um working with your spouse though yeah let's talk about that no oh yeah oh it's definitely we're still learning we've been married for six years we've been working together for four and it's hard because you have to learn how to separate okay this is my husband right now this is my business partner right now and that's hard for me I'm a Scorpio I'm very career driven so I'll be mad about something be like Cam this is how you do it and then later Cam will be like I don't really like how you said that to me in front of you know those people and I'm like what it's business and you know so that's our he's a cancer he's very
Starting point is 00:42:33 sensitive and I'm a Scorpio I'm all about fire so in business that's kind of hard to navigate in our love life it's great we're getting yay you know so but it's something that we've been working on and we've gotten a lot better therapy has helped so good I love that you like we fell in love and then we just got to try to keep it together try to get together absolutely how um is he with like you when you separate like you do a lot of things as like cam and lauren but like when you when you're asked and he's not asked does he get jealous um i think at first he was never jealous i'm not gonna say he was jealous but i think at first it was difficult because these things were happening and at first it was like stuff together now it's me separate and he
Starting point is 00:43:24 would get separate things too so it was just kind of like awkward because we had to be in two different places you'll be home I'll be traveling or vice versa and it was never a jealousy thing it was just an adjustment period thing because I don't think anybody wants to feel left out or not included but I mean we got over that super quickly it was just like hey it's all for the home team it's all for our house it's for our marriage it's for our family like I'm rooting for you your room for me. We're partners in this, supporting each other. And then quickly got over that because these bills got to be paid. Honestly, Chris and I in therapy, the thing that I learned in therapy being married is just like, no matter what, like our rule for our marriage is
Starting point is 00:44:06 like, no matter what, we have to be on the same team. We may not agree with the way we're doing it. We may, you know, each be like out doing the thing, but like at the end of the day, forward facing, you know, cause there was a time, I mean, I still am so bad at it, but there was a time, like I, you know, talk shit about something he did business wise to a friend. And he was like, no, no, no. Like we have to be on the same team at the end of the day. And I thought that was so important in a marriage. Um, okay. Last thing for any of our girls that are like, you know what? I I'm seeing myself in Lauren right now. I'm in a dark spot. Nothing's happening. I'm not feeling good. I think that I would like to apply to be on Love is Blind or one of these shows. What advice
Starting point is 00:44:50 do you have to someone who's embarking and trying to get placed on one of these shows? I would say if you're trying to get placed on the show, first, know your intention for going on the show. If you're going on there to just have a good time, to just get some face time, cool. You know, if you're going on there to really fall in love and find a relationship, then that's kind of a whole different thing girl you got to go in there with your vulnerability on your sleeve you have to go in there being fully yourself you have to go in there mentally prepared for what could come after everybody may not like you nobody may like you but as long as you like yourself you know and you want the best for yourself and that's even something that I realized throughout the process I was like
Starting point is 00:45:32 yes this is about finding a partner but honestly I found out so much about me and things why my last relationships i didn't notice i was doing this in that relationship i don't want to carry it over here so it's really a lot of self-work it you know in addition to finding someone to add into your life so just be mentally prepared go in be yourself be vulnerable but don't be stupid okay be vulnerable but don't be stupid girl still be smart now okay because it is a tv show so don't go on there and do anything that you'll be embarrassed by because it cannot be deleted there's no delete we know it yeah lauren i love this i love seeing the inside of like how the sausages how the reality show sausage is made so thank you so much for that and you guys you can
