She's got a new music album, American Myth, that's dropping on April 29th.
So she's here to talk about that and all of her funny stories about dating Hollywood celebrities
and being on the red carpet and butt kissing, which is great.
Love a good butt kiss.
It's going to be good.
It's going to be very, very good.
Before we start, I really want to talk about an email we got from an unnamed major fashion
website.
You read it.
From their retouching department.
The men's retouching department.
Oh, yeah.
And they said that they are huge fans.
Yep.
They've gotten everybody in their department on board.
Yep.
Men included.
Yep.
We have three male fans now, maybe.
Maybe three.
Maybe five.
and they listened to it at work
on the speaker
as they retouched male models
and I just thought that
that was like the greatest image ever
and if they ever wanted to invite us
to do a live show
or and retouch our images
at the same time
and retouch our images
it would be amazing
amazing
I think that's like
that's really living the life
listening to the lady gang
looking at hot guys
making them even hotter
like what do they do
when they're retouching male models
like do you have to shrink a ball sack
I don't know
I don't know
make the what's the appropriate size of a penis bulge for like an underwear i don't that's a good
question anyway please let us know theladygang.com um on that note it is time for good week yes it
is bad week oh no all right jack am i starting you're starting okay she brought out her phone
guys she got us every time every time i gotta bring it out so i would like everybody to stop
what they're doing this instant and look at boner girl 666 is instagram if it's the jack i i will
not not only is she doing the jack with her boyfriend her caption is i can't believe i get
to marry my best friend in 131 days is she she effing with us yes oh my god oh my god but i
think this is that's amazing first of all your name's boner girl i love her name is the best
instagram name i've ever heard in my entire life boner girl six sixes i love i love it but this is
why i love that so much one she's doing the jack and she's making it a thing because we're gonna
she's making fun of the jack because her caption is also making fun of everything else we make fun
of secondly she she this is what i like about the lady gang is we are so polarizing and we're so
polarizing everybody's obsessed with us we're so relevant as we like have so many of these episodes
we have these like inside jokes that we're making yeah i think it's cool because it doesn't end
at no end of our episode like we're we're interacting so well with well that sounds
stupid we're so great i'm really good at social media guys super humble too um boner girl i
commend you because i think what you did was joking it was a joke i'm taking it i'm counting
my jacks that i get it's going in there so well i really like that i congrats congrats the jack
and jack she really she really what was the bad week okay well my bad week is it's a short bad
week but okay the other day i was in a public bathroom having sex and no not that time i was
going pee oh my god and you know just like on my phone going to the bathroom whatever in a public
restroom you look at your phone while peeing no actually no no i don't so wait so i wasn't part
that i was just trying to embellish my story a little bit i wasn't looking at my phone we don't
embellish here the lady gang jack all truth all the time jack it says taking a pee squatting
and then i stood up and i go to like flush the toilet with my foot yeah and my glasses aren't
like that oh god not really like to my face too tightly so when i go to flush the toilet with my
foot my glasses just tumbled down into my toilet bowl in your own personal into my pee yes i'm
blind in a public restroom so i had to reach into my oh my god my glasses back and then i had to
wash them 500 times and they might have remnants of pee on them still urination station gross
healthy disgusting how about you um okay so my good week is so good you guys tell us so i'm going
to the mac gala in new york it's so exciting giant most important may 2nd the most important
fashion night of the year and every time i go on the red carpet i have to like scungle up a dress
to wear because when you're on the z list none of the big designers want to dress you but this year
christian siriano is dressing me for the met gala is that the one that i like that makes
us from project runway um no never mind he's a small one that's a different the little guy with
like the emo hair so yeah i remember and he dresses everyone he dresses everyone so the fact
that he said yes is so major and i'm going to new york next week for my fitting is he a designer is
he a designer he was on project runway and then now he's like huge and he shows at fashion week
and like everyone wears him and then i had a phone conversation with him this week and i got to call
his cell phone so i know your cell phone number christian siriano and he was like what are you
feeling and i was like anything but black he's like okay doll i'll just like pull a whole bunch
of stuff and you can try on everything i could only imagine how great this day is gonna be that's
very exciting that is exciting he just dressed someone who looked amazing um i wish i could
remember who that's sarah everyone do you remember when sarah highland wore at the emmys that like
white crop top with the big orange puffy yeah yeah it was insane and she looked amazing so good
that's so cool here's my bad week so last saturday woke up eating some breakfast started throwing up
out of nowhere what oh pregnant yeah and i was like i was like hold the phone am i pregnant and
so i text my makeup artist and i was like text my makeup artist what because she was like you're
gonna go to africa and you're gonna get pregnant and so i text my birth control not work in africa
vacation sperm is stronger than normal nine to five remember this for a vacation and so i um
um i started throwing up i text rebecca and i'm like oh my god i'm pregnant i have to sell my
house there's too many stairs this is not a neighborhood for a child like i start replanning
my whole life then i go and i'm like god i'm like it was one of those things where you just throw up
like insanely for five minutes and then it's over like you don't feel sick anymore and i was like
this must be morning sickness yeah so then i'm like oh my god so then i go back to the kitchen
i'm like cleaning up my breakfast i looked at the carton for the eggs i was eating oh no best by
february 12th was the end of march i was eating rotten eggs did they not look rotten when you're
like no it looked fine and i hadn't eaten an egg in like six months but i don't know why i got up
and i was like i'm gonna have some eggs and then i made the scrambled eggs anyway it was a bad egg
i'm not pregnant crisis averted um you don't have to move thank god yeah i can keep my house for
like a little bit longer um but anyway so that was my bad week it was like a little bit scary but
oh my god pregnancy scares are the scariest i mean okay well becks becks uh my good week is
that the real housewives of new york city is back on the air thank god i feel normal again
i just love them so much there's something really magical about the housewives of new york i don't
know if it's because i lived in new york for so long or if it's because i just really appreciate
the new york housewives like they're just i think they're smarter i think they're sassier i think
they're more entertaining i they just really have it going on and bethany's back this season
looking cute with her little bob getting really like bitchy right off the bat about the new girl
who i would get bitchy about too you know prove prove yourself to me i just well you guys asked
me to be on the show already um okay you may not live in new york or be a housewife i would move
to new york to be on the real estate and get married yeah sure um okay so here is my bad week
um so i'm not on facebook however there is like a uh like a fan page that my i think it's it's like
my manager um set up um because now in this day and age you have to like prove to be popular to
get jobs and it's sad sad situation so he sets up a facebook page and um it's all like really
generic like nice stuff and then every once in a while there's like someone from my past who
will go on there and like talk to me or comment like it's actually my page which is unfortunate
because like i don't even have access to it to respond to the person i rarely look at it
however my sister's still on facebook and she found herself on my page recently and she calls
me and she's like houston we have a problem oh no and i was like what she's like there's a picture
of you and there's all these fans being like becca i love becca i love kitty i love and she
goes and then i stopped dead in my tracks when i saw i don't know why this girl is being idolized
i went to high school with her and she's a monster she pooped on our teacher's desk
here's the thing i don't know if that's true or not like could be true okay is it true
no but here's the thing you did pee in a girl's purse that's why i think that's where i think it
came from i peed in a girl's purse she had it come in um and i peed in her purse and i think
that the way that like tell it's like telephone yeah you know like one person says one thing and
then it gets to the next person and it went from me peeing in a poland springs bottle and then
dumping it into her purse to me taking a hot steamy dump on a teacher's desk so i went from
being like bad girl to sociopath and there's no way for me to defend myself oh my god that's
Do you know the girl?
I don't know.
My sister, I asked my sister if she remembered the girl's name, but she, I don't think she
told me or whatever.
I wonder if she listens to Lady Gang.
I highly doubt it.
I want to make the quote the, like the lock screen on my phone.
Yeah, it's, I'm going to find it and, and, and word for word, maybe we'll post it on
Instagram.
Unless it's been taken down because that's just horrific.
I mean, yeah, well, listen, you know what?
People always tell me if you don't have haters, you ain't crap.
Literally.
Does it count if they went to high school with you and they just hated you from that time on?
Because you're a biatch in high school.
I wasn't a bitch.
She had it coming.
Okay.
You're listening to The Lady Gang.
You guys, I am so excited about our guest today.
My gosh.
She is a comedian, actress, fashion designer, author, singer, songwriter.
She started doing stand-up when she was 14 years old.
Becca, what were you doing when you were 14?
Picking my nose.
Yes, you were.
She's also a fellow podcaster as the co-host of Monsters of Talk.
So make sure to go subscribe to that if you're a podcast lover, which we know you are.
She created one of the greatest funny or die videos ever called If Women Ran Hollywood,
which is perfect for the Lady Game podcast.
Go check it out.
She's got Emmy nominations, Grammy nominations.
And most importantly, she's a massive supporter and a game changer for the LGBT community.
She appeared on Dancing with the Stars.
She's the current co-host on Fashion Police, which we love.
and honestly there's the legit so much more i could say about this woman i've interviewed her
many times on our show and i'm just always blown away how someone can be
funny and radical but have so much soul too so welcome to the show
you're too important to be here so thank you i love you thanks thank you for gracing your
presence with us i'm grateful and thanks for the champagne oh you're welcome first of all i got to
know about fashion police how is it is it fun well it's fun because every time i do it like
the whole point to do it for me is it was joan's favorite thing that she ever did yeah and so i
love joan and so it's for me it's like i get to hang out and like laugh with melissa and brad and
juliana and nini like these are people that joan loved and i love and and the whole like my goal
is always just to make Melissa laugh.
So you say the most disgusting, rotten,
raunchy thing that will make her laugh
and then she's reminded of
her mother. It's great.
It's such an amazing way to pay
tribute to her. I love
that the show continued.
In a way, it's like
it's just so that she lives on.
Totally.
Is there someone that
you always sort of
love in Hollywood to sort of
bag on um bag on but you know to me it's like it's so fun just to make fun of the outfits because
it's like i have no business making fun i have no reason i would ever be on the red carpet every
time i'm on the red carpet it's like a disaster so it's fun because it's like i'm the worst so
anything anybody does is better than anything i can do so but that makes you like a weird expert
in itself though that's true yeah oh i love that um one of the questions we always ask all of our
ladies who come on is hollywood heartbreak what has been you've been in this business my god you
started when you're 14 a long time what has been the one thing the gig you thought you were going
to get and you didn't get what has been the thing that kind of was your heartbreak moment in
hollywood oh wow there's so many um that's what everyone says i know um a tear career's part in
wayne's world you know wayne's world so hot and i was up for that part i remember coming out of
the audition she was walking and i was like i'm not gonna get this oh my god that's hard um that
was hard to take a lot like every day there's a heartbreak though you know there's so many that
you don't even remember yeah and then i also know that comedians have a lot of longevity because all
of the girls that i was jealous of in the 90s the actresses that i don't ever see them ever again
right yeah i don't know where nev campbell is right i don't know where i mean most of the
actress is like with the exception of like leslie man yeah she's the only one that i see that i see
then but everybody else um like janine garofalo like i see her comedy but i don't see her in
movies yeah as much i mean it's like all of the girls that i thought were like gonna work forever
and i would see forever i don't see very much and that must make you proud though to know that
you've sort of stood the test of time if you will and have constant reinvention well i think it just
means that i was never in anything so you're just like slowly stumbling going along yeah like i'm
just sort of in the same amount of stuff i was always but that's kind of a nice way to do it
it is like as an actress it would be really nice if there was something like i can be spared all
the big major mega exciting projects if like you could just tell me that i'll always be working
like there's something really amazing about that and there are few people that that happens for
well i think that's also joan river's story she's just like always encouraged like female comics
because she said like you're always going to work no matter what happens you will always have a job
and that you should be grateful for that and so i took a lot of stock in that because i had when i
have a disappointment that's who i would go to when i would be upset as joan and she helped me
so much that um it's still i still reach for her and she's gone yeah so that's one other reason i
I love Fashion Police, but I also still haven't been able to like figure out like who that
mentor is or maybe I'm supposed to mentor people now.
Tables have turned.
Okay.
Another one of our things is the ish and the ish is what was your moment in Hollywood where
you felt like you were the bee's knees?
Like it is all happening.
I am it.
I'm in the it girl.
So stupid.
It's so stupid.
when I was
Quentin Tarantino's
girlfriend who was like
very really life
not for very
long but we also had a deep friendship
I loved him
I wanted to be together he was
so beautiful he was such a good
boyfriend and he had
just purchased
a video archives which is the video store he used
to work at so he purchased all the movies so we were
working our way through them and then
And, you know, I guess I can't really call him my boyfriend because we just went on a few dates.
But it felt very deep, you know.
The relationship felt very solid.
And just going out with him, this was in between – well, this was right after Pulp Fiction had just started to win the awards.
Yeah, yeah.
And so we would go out to Hollywood events.
So we went to, like, award shows.
And I've never seen an ass get kissed like that.
the the amount of hollywood stars huge hollywood stars bowing down to his greatness and then by
proxy my greatness i was just like i was really overwhelmed i didn't feel like it was a me that
i did anything i was just hanging out with this dude that i liked a lot yeah um and of course
his work is wonderful but it was like this kind of changing of the guard of hollywood when we were
looking at uh the auteur as opposed to like the big movie studios like we were now looking to the
90s new young guns of film and then quentin was like leading that revolution so it was uh all of
old hollywood recognizing that and falling at his feet and watching it and i just i could not
believe the ass kissing like i'm like i've never seen it since unbelievable you know yeah to to
like net not since have i seen something like that the intensity but people don't kiss your
ass now to get on fashion police no i feel like there's probably some a little bit ass kissing
maybe no not really i mean there's a lot of people who like the show and there's a lot of people who
love joan yeah and they love the legacy of joan but you know it's a it's that kind of place of
ass kissing that i don't know if a woman has ever gotten there and that's a testament to how sexist
hollywood maybe i think even oh really really i think but i've never hung out with oh right
yeah so you've never been dating oprah on the side to see how people ask us or in that way
yeah i've never been with oprah maybe gail would feel like that yeah maybe scale probably get some
yeah but i don't i don't have that i don't know how did you pick out outfits to wear to these
events with him it's like another level of eyeballs on you oh yeah people would send me
um designers you get a box from every designer and they would just say okay just please please
please wear but i was not a sample size so i could only wear the biggest thing in there so
usually it was by default a donna karen right that's gonna be the biggest thing in the box
your go-to dress yeah that or like a ralph lauren that's gonna be the biggest most giant thing i can
fit that's amazing you're the coolest you are three questions in and i've interviewed you a
bunch of times and like there's a whole the coolest um mirror message this is do you have
an inspirational quote that like sits up on your mirror that you look at when you're brushing your
teeth oh well it's more um it just i think it's not even a message it's just that when i look back
at pictures when i was young i thought i was the ugliest fattest creature because the sort of the
media things that people said this is even before social media too this is like like like legit like
tabloids would just say horrible things about me and i internalize it so bad so i thought i was so
ugly and i look back and i'm like oh my god i am such a beautiful girl and so to try to remember
that this is it like this moment is all you have like don't get to this place where you have to
like like lose weight to look a certain way to feel good about yourself or get this plastic
surgery to feel good about yourself you have to feel good about yourself now because we don't
have that much time and it's a very i don't know for me eating disorders go really deep and i just
i can't give my life over to those demons and diseases anymore yeah oh i love that i love that
so much on that along those lines i think you are one of those people in hollywood that has
been successful because you're so authentic and you stay true to who you are and you have a voice
and you don't apologize for using it what is your secret to staying true to yourself and uh kind of
saying f you to what everyone thinks well it's just about um for me i just i don't know like i
I don't have any sort of industry behind me.
I do stand-up comedy, and then I do these shows and whatever.
But all these jobs that I get are contingent upon me using my voice.
So it's all sort of like I have to.
That's my entire existence.
I think that's what stand-up comedians are supposed to do.
So it gets kind of weird.
But then I think if you don't listen too much to the negativity
or you try to alter the negativity.
I also have weird people who are supportive of me, who help me out.
I have a lot of crazy trolls, but I also have a lot of crazy hackers.
So every time I have a troll, I have a hacker who gives me their social security number,
their address, the address of their house.
Of the trolls.
Of the trolls.
And I have so much sympathy for this person that I don't know who's saying nasty things
about me.
i mean i have like an inordinate amount of power online which is not cool because i would never
dox anybody i would never yeah you're not gonna use it no but i have tight friends who are like
let's just let's so you feel better yeah here's where this person is coming from like this is
where this is so you just keep keep a watch on it you know and i have a lot of other like uh sort of
eyes on me i have some issues with things so they make me feel safe by giving me all of this crazy
information and i look out there and i'm like oh my god trolls are these really sad people with
families yeah with kids sometimes they are kids sometimes it's like their families probably don't
know it all sometimes they're like the dad of a family and the family has no idea yeah and it's
like so like so you just have to go well if i use my voice and i get this negativity it's coming
from a place to somebody who's so um desperate and upset about something and uh when you can
sort of have compassion for that too it keeps you going but it definitely makes me want to use my
voice more yeah how how do they what's like the most aggressive way that these people contact you
is it now social media it's social media that i've had some incidents at my home oh my god which
have have been very strange but then also it's it's kind of like it just made me aware of what
i was doing like i i kind of don't live like a celebrity suppose i i don't believe myself as
being a celebrity so i don't take those precautions right you're not like looking out for your like
safety you don't have a bodyguard driving on splash mountain behind you you know what i mean
yeah i mean i just don't i don't believe in any of that and i don't think that anything but
sometimes something happens and then i'm like oh i gotta watch out you know i have friends who are
super paranoid who are like on this other level of safety so you know you just have to watch out
for yourself but to know that we're all human beings on this planet and there's got to be a
way to exist together in harmony yeah i love that we prepared something really fun for you
so we like to do little quizzes on the show and we thought because you are sort of this
pop culture expert icon at this point with all your different projects that it would be funny
and we're going to do a cho or no quiz okay which cho is like yes cho approved and no is no don't
i'm not buying it okay we have a saying not buying it i'm not buying that and so here are some of the
things going on that we thought we want to get your opinion on number one kitten heels oh cho
you wear a kitten heel yeah i do i only have a couple i don't really wear heels at all but a
Kitten heel I like because it's the appearance of you might be kind of on a heel, but you
don't have to.
But you're not really walking on a heel.
Right.
It's not going to mess up your back.
Okay.
Gigi and Zayn as a couple.
Oh.
Gigi and Zayn.
Are they already?
Oh, Joe.
It's a couple.
Well, anything Gigi does, I think she's adorable.
And Zayn's adorable, too.
Yeah, they're cute.
So I thought, see, I'm kind of behind because I thought that she was with Joe Jonas.
Joe Jonas.
So now she's with Zayn.
Yeah.
So that's great.
and imagine like
if they stayed together
like the kids eyebrows
would be phenomenal
oh god
oh my god
that is true
it would be gorgeous
good point
what do you guys think
Cho or no
yeah
Cho
do your thing
do your thing
have that pillow talk
he has really good music too
I was quite surprised
his music is great
it's really sexy
I mean he's great
she's beautiful
oh god the prettiest
it's her time
it's his time
you know
let them have fun
live their best life
enjoy your time
Wayne's world's almost over though
um snapchat oh um i just don't know about it okay everybody likes it and the thing about it is that
if you have a friend who's into snapchat then you don't have a friend anymore yeah because they're
not talking to you they're snapchatting the whole time the whole time so i mean jack we're only
friends on snapchat and then this podcast i'm not even friends with you on snapchat what you're
this is what i don't know what see it's obsessive breaking up our friendship the lady gang is over
i don't what do you think you hate it no no of course she does jack well i like it but then i
only snapchat every once in a while i forget to use it we're being like kim kardashian that thing
that joy behar said about like the only thing left to see of kim kardashian is if she like
swallowed the phone or swallowed a camera yeah that's how all of society is becoming with the
snapchat bullshit i like it but then it's it's is it because it's immaterial is it because it
fades away is that what they i like it when they have the nice filter where i can make myself a
unicorn that's beautiful that's the best i can have the unicorn horn and now they really put
on my head the filter where you it gives you a nice chair or square chin and a goatee yeah that's
nice that would be fun and it makes everybody look like an attractive male there we go um peplum
dresses uh cho okay because i think i remember the first appearance of those in the early 80s
and they really yeah there were sort of an 80s like early 80s thing i don't know that era it was
kind of like a molly ring well it was a little bit there were 16 candles like girls had them
and to me they seem sort of um i don't know they retro but now they i like any kind of 80s fashion
coming back now becca i'm gonna say if it's vintage clothing with a peplum cho if it's
something new with a peplum no okay jack not on me okay some i'm gonna say cho because sometimes i
like a peplum when you're feeling like not great about your period bloat and you're like oh this
little flap of fabric is like covering that up wait but doesn't it i feel like you would like
accentuate the dust it actually gives you a nice womanly figure yeah if you don't have that yeah
it makes your waist look smaller and your hips look bigger which i like i like that what i do
say no about is any of you ladies even talking about having any sort of period bloat because
you're all teeny tiny little period bloat does not discriminate does not discriminate especially
when if you are a skinny bitch it's like people are like is she pregnant because like the minute
you get the period bloat when your uterus is like then you like have like a food baby slash
you know it kind of shows up quicker i think imagine you ever having anything but i mean
That's why you're always invited back.
Yes, it's true.
She's all it takes.
We have a giant trophy for you out there.
It's a little little.
Dogs in costumes.
Cho or no?
Oh, Cho.
It's so cute.
I know this because I looked at your Instagram and there were so many dogs in costumes.
They hate them.
Oh, yeah.
I was in Tokyo and I got my dogs fedoras.
They hate them so much.
Oh, my God.
Yes.
They're fedoras because they all look...
Wait, what kind of dogs do you have?
I have a chihuahua and I have a mini pin.
They're both like rescue mixes.
Cute.
So they hate anything like on their body or on their head and then they put the, then
they try to duck out of them.
So they really look like they're like Lauren Bacall or like some, they really look like
there's some kind of like mysterious spy, like Ingrid Bergman, like a spy.
Yeah.
Yeah.
You get the whole vibe.
I hate it so much.
I love it.
Show for me a costume.
So cute.
I put hobo in like a Obi-Wan Kenobi costume.
It's the greatest day of my life.
Is it the kind where it looks like he's standing?
Yes.
I love that.
That's the best kind.
Those are the best.
They're the best.
Those are the best.
What do you think?
I'm going to say Cho, but my dog won't wear anything.
She won't even wear a collar.
Okay.
Yeah, some dogs just won't wear clothes.
She just hates it.
She hates it.
And then they get, like, traumatized by the clothes.
Yeah.
She does.
And she, like, stands still.
Like, I put her in a straight jacket.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's like they don't, they're not supposed to wear clothes.
It's just dumb, but I can't help it.
I love them.
They're so cute.
It's cute.
Larry David.
I love Larry David Cho.
Yes.
Good answer.
Hold on.
So this is the time that we, since you love him, do you know him?
yeah well you know what i am i'm now i guess i can say i'm very well very tight with jerry
steinfeld so and now i feel like i know him because we've done show i've done shows with him
yeah i feel like i don't know if we've actually met but i do know i have smoked his pot he has
i took a picture of a of a curb strain and i sent it to a mutual friend who then sent it to larry
okay that's amazing where that i have smoked a strain because i sort of gave him documentation
show for me i think larry david's the jam jack has an obsession i think about him he is like
my everything and becca gets pissed because she loves him too i love him just as much but for
some reason like he's mine but you can all have him it's not you know i'm sure i'm sure we could
get him in here that's all i want he would love it he would have so much fun he would have so
much fun yeah larry okay i already feel like i know because you got your dog a fedora but fedoras
was the last one on people uh uh fedoras on a person yeah yeah of course okay yeah i think
it's great i loved having fedoras um especially when i shaved my head because then it was like
oh i can not have wind on my head you know it's like hair it's like kind of like it's kind of
like hair it's kind of good to have a shaved head i liked it like was it liberating it was liberty
it was really fun
but were you scared
your head was gonna be
such a strange shape
yes
oh my god
it was
no
it was actually
really
like I have a pretty
sinead head
which was a grateful
I was
I had gratitude
for my head shape
good
and uh
and I
I'll probably do it again
I liked it
I like the freedom of it
and I love to wear
any wig you want
your pixie cut though
it really is
so good on you
it looks so good
thank you
it's really cute
fedoras
Jack hates them
it's her biggest fear
you don't like a fedora
not a fan of fedoras
Do you like a hat at all?
I like hats.
It's just like the connotation with the fedora is always like a super, super douchey man that smokes an e-cig.
Yeah, but then if they have the e-cig that looks like a recorder.
Like a box.
I always like the ones that are real big and barrel-y and it looks like they're going to play Oh Holy Night.
Oh, yeah.
They look like one of Zach Morris' old phones.
They're huge.
They're weird and huge and boxy.
But then I think about fedoras as being worn by Duran Duran in the 80s, who you couldn't
be less douchey than Duran Duran in the 80s.
Yeah.
See, it's like I'm thinking of fedoras in the 2000s.
Okay.
Like JT.
No, but see, that was in at that point.
Yeah.
It's just a different, it has a different connotation to your.
It's a different sad time.
Yeah.
You don't know the impact of the fedora and the trench coat with Duran Duran.
Yeah.
So this is way historical.
This is history.
what do you think i'm gonna say no i'm gonna say yes on me in 2003 i was fierce in 2016
okay margaret we're having a blast and you're gonna stick around because up next is our ask
the lady gang series where you're gonna give some life advice to some of our listeners
that um write in so stick around okay
all right guys time for ask the lady gang but before we begin if you guys want 20 off jack
vannick.com use code lady gang at checkout and you can buy yourself a no yes shirt like i just
gave margaret yay we love i love that tank it's a good one cute okay so for this section of our
podcast we have fans writing questions about their love life about their friends about just like
issues that they need help with so we do our best to answer it okay so you're also we have no idea
what we're doing okay so we're the worst we it's like we give advice terribly yeah and our guest
usually gives great advice oh that's okay you can bring a little you know knowledge into my best
okay so our first question comes from rachel on email and she says long story short i've been in
relationship with a guy for four years we live together and i think he might propose soon
trouble is i have a huge crush on a guy that i know nothing has happened and we don't see each
other that often but i can't get the idea of being with him out of my mind i'm torn between staying
with a guy who is predictable and safe but i also want to know if anything might happen with my crush
and who knows if he's even interested help me is this normal and what should i do oh it's so normal
and it doesn't ever stop you do this your entire life through all of my relationships my marriage
my um partnerships my everything you never you sort of have to really see like how much you value
the relationship you're in but what you're doing is like you're trying to stay out of real intimacy
so you try to like look outward and say no the feelings i have for this person is real when in
truth you're just using that as an excuse to not be fully involved with the one you're sort of
already involved with yeah so it's really about like am i gonna commit to my relationship or am
i gonna just not be with this person in the way that i'm you know i kind of not am anyway because
i'm thinking about this other guy yeah so maybe i don't know like i think it's better for younger
people to not have committed relationships and to not be so solidly connected and not to have kids
It's too early not to have anything that ties them together because you change so much.
You know, you've got to work on you.
I would totally investigate the other guy and just see if it's real and see if it's
because you are avoiding intimacy or there's something deep happening there.
You never know.
Yeah.
No, I totally agree.
I think that if there are outward feelings and they're that big to where you like kind
of want to explore it, maybe that's some kind of an issue that you want to address in your
own relationship that you're having right now it's hard because then those feelings don't go
away it don't they don't go away in your 20s and then 30s and 40s and then you know now i'm coming
back and confronting relationships that i had with people um that we never consummated and so
you know you appreciate all of these times where you've had like your heart um has been full by
someone so maybe don't ignore that or maybe you're ignoring it because you want to be in a relationship
with a guy that's it i don't know see since i don't know that person all i know is a person
who's older who um a lot of the times a lot of the people don't stick around and then you you
don't you realize your life has gone by yeah um i think i think that exactly what you said
at the beginning was just that you have to look and like say is it worth it like do i love this
person enough to stay or and it's every day you know like it's every day i wake up every day and
I'm like, is today the day I stay with my husband?
Yes.
I love him the most today.
You know what I mean?
And then the next day, maybe you change your mind.
I don't know.
But you just have to make that choice of whether it's worth it to you or you think the grass
is truly greener.
Because a lot of times, the thing that you can't have is the thing that is so exciting.
But then you get to that grass and you're like, I want the other grass.
Yeah.
I like that other grass.
You sometimes look at things as being tantalizing because you don't want to be fully committed.
Yeah.
It's hard.
Okay.
Yeah.
no that's very interesting okay next question is from kim on email too and she says i just moved
to la for work and saw one of my biggest lady crushes at a coffee shop yesterday i was so
excited that i was seeing her in person and i wanted to go say hi but then got nervous about
being a crazy fan girl so i left what is the best way to approach a celeb in public so you don't end
up being the fan they think of when they're asked about their craziest fan encounter that's such a
good question yeah i don't you say becca tell me tell what the gleeks tell me about the gleeks
i think there's a respectful way to do it i think that number one nothing is more um imposing than
asking to take a picture if i offer yeah if i offer and say oh do you want to take a picture
that's one thing but like you could be sitting down eating dinner coming from the gym like
and and also with the internet those pictures never go away they're everywhere and it's not
like i'm the most vain human in the world but like what normal person wants to have a picture
of themselves sweaty and disgusting on the internet for the world to see probably no one
um but i think the most respectful thing is just when people come over and they're calm
and they say i just i don't want to bother you i just want to let you know i'm a big fan
i love glee you know some some people even go so far to be like it changed my life because it
definitely did for so many people which is why i understand the need to make the contact but just
like be respectful like you would with any person of the space the privacy like just be normal yeah
i mean you're right that's all right that well i'm kind i don't i don't know like i just sort
of i'm grateful for any kind of attention so i'm like happy with anybody coming up to me like i'll
take the sweaty picture put it online when i i'm i never like want to wear makeup or do you know i
don't care what i look like and it doesn't matter but um i know that for me if i see somebody i'm a
fan of i'm not going to talk to him because i've had so many disappointing instances oh yeah with
huge celebrities that like i just had to say and it was just i shouldn't and it ruined it and then
i can't like them anymore yep 100 well because it's true i'm sure that there has been you know
fans that come up to different celebrities and maybe that celebrity was having a bad day or
they're in the middle of something or maybe they're just a dick or they're a dick but i'm saying it's
just and then that fan gets a sour taste in their mouth about that person based on that one
five second encounter and that's that sucks but that's just like kind of the reality of the
situation not everybody's going to be like their best self in every second of the day the best
thing you can do is not meet your idols yeah you just can't i mean i've had so many i mean
and i never want to say names but lots of them are in the star wars franchise
and I don't
mean that it's a bad
of course I love Star Wars and I'm not talking
about anything from
you know the early
I'm talking about anything from the new not from Daisy Ridley
on they're all cool
no but I've had some
and now we've made up but
it was like so hard
to deal with that you know
but so I would say
just be careful because you know
you might get really disappointed
in yeah do you also feel like being a comedian i can only imagine that people come up to you and
expect you to be like tell a joke yeah like yeah and at a dinner party like you might be there and
you're like you're just not feeling like being on i'm never can you tell that people are like
trying to get you to do that yeah it must be hard to be social well but i'm also social with mostly
comedians and mostly actors and musicians we're all sort of like we all don't really do that
anyway right but then you get with people they're like what's wrong are you okay and i'm like yeah
i'm fine i'm just sitting here yeah you know i'm like living my life dude yeah but it's weird
because people and especially if women they want you to smile they want you to act like you right
be branding you be you it's weird like i'm starting to eat these french fries if one person comes out
to me and i hate when people come up to you and you're in a neutral place not mad nothing and
And they're like, smile.
Yeah.
It'll feel better.
And I'm like, I would never walk up to someone and say that.
Never.
But it's always men that come up and say that to me.
And I'm like, that's the worst thing you can actually.
I'd rather someone say, you look like a bitch.
Yeah.
I think, you know, because women's bodies are public space.
So it's not just our bodies, but our moods and how we are.
We should be smiling.
Smile.
Smile.
It's like, no.
No.
No.
I'm good.
I'm like, I just want to get out your wallet.
I'll smile.
Give me $500.
I'll smile.
Okay.
Our last question is from Rue on email and she says, I'm 21 and I'm the youngest worker
in the, in the department.
I found out that there's a ton of unnecessary drama with a bunch of the women here that
are twice my age.
I'm finding coming into work every day, terrible.
And I dread my eight hours.
How can I separate, separate myself from the drama?
Um, well, you just do, you can do it in your mind.
you could just not engage i i think uh it's pretty much uh yeah i mean it's really hard but i think
one of the things that i learned early on was that you really just at work especially don't say
anything behind anyone's back and feed into the office politics that you couldn't say to their
face and you have to check yourself and it really is hard because a lot of times you kind of get in
a place and everyone's begging on someone and it just feels like this community you know yeah and
i think it's really good and then people will know once you set that boundary people will know
that you are the person that doesn't engage and they won't come to you for that kind of crap right
they'll just know like oh kelty's not the one that i come to when i want to talk crap and then
they'll talk shit about you for not engaging and that's the thing that's really tricky as as i've
gotten older i remember being in situations that were like just drama filled and everybody's in
the middle of it and it's all going on and if i'm having an altercation with another girl i'm airing
obviously i have no filter i'm airing like the all the drama to everybody sitting there and i
all i will always remember like this one girl who wouldn't say what i wanted her to say who
wouldn't placate me and i remember walking away in that moment and being like what a bitch and
now in hindsight i'm like she probably taught me the most important lesson of my life that it's
okay to be that girl because it was a mirror for me to see that i was absolutely ridiculous yeah
yeah it's important it's fun yeah it's funny like i just like to make people like try to
explain the situation to me and then i'd act stupid i go wait what's going on wait i do that
all the time like wait a second wait a second wait wait go back and i make them go back
and then they have to say it again and i go and so what does that mean yeah and then they get
really like you know what i'll talk to you later and then yeah because then they're like actually
explaining the drama that's not really dramatic and it's all right so there's always something
it's like you're actually listening to yourself talk and you're like wait a second what am i
saying yeah you sound so ridiculous yeah it's good um that's true listen um margaret we adore
you thank you thank you for taking your time to come here it means so much to us thank you so much
um i know that you everyone can follow you uh on instagram margaret show but what else is going on
where do we need to buy tickets to your shows what's happening well i'm trying i'm in detroit
later this month. I'm in the
LA area. I'll be at the
Irvine Improv at the end of April.
I'll be in Nashville. All of my dates
are on margaretshow.com and then I'm very
active on Twitter. Yes.
At Margaret Show. That's great. So that's where I'm at
all the time. And of course you can tune in to Fashion
Place. So what's the next Fashion Place? Are you guys doing
MTV Awards? We're doing
I think, no,
Met Gala. Oh, it's a good one.
Oh, Met Gala. What's the theme
this year? It's technology.
Technology and something.
so people gonna be dressed like robots i hope well we'll see i i have a suspicion that there
will be some kinds of like apparatus like it'll be like dresses but that that do things i think
yeah that will have some kind of function but that's just my and then i also think things
will be light up oh i like that like katie perry style who never disappoints at the mac ala um
sarah jessica parker yeah rihanna yeah sarah jessica parker rihanna is the best because
rihanna had the dress that she was like it was like an omelet yeah and then j-lo wore like a
dress that was kind of like that but it was like the egg beaters version of the yeah so it's like
rihanna always gives no matter i think she's always the best i remember covering the mecca
the year she wore the crop top and everyone was like the white crop and um it was the year that
she had quit instagram and of course on my stupid card it was like how do you feel about quitting
instagram like i'm such an idiot i can't believe i have to ask this right now and she goes i don't
give a f about instagram right now and i was like i'm so embarrassed at my job but she wore the crop
which was, like, very groundbreaking at the time
because to wear a crop top to the metropolitan, like...
What'd you wear it with?
Yeah.
She had, like, a crop top.
It was your dream wedding dress.
It was a crop top, long-sleeved turtleneck,
and then a big, long skirt with a train.
It was beautiful.
It was beautiful.
But she's so fun when it comes to fashion.
She just dresses so interestingly.
Like, it's not always, like, what you expect.
Yeah.
So I'm always thrilled to see her on the red carpet.
Well, I will be tuning in for that.
