Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey guys, the following podcast is a Lady Gang Network and Podcast One production, which means it's going to be awesome. Well, what is this? Welcome to the Lady Gang. That's amazing. Say that again. The Lady Gang. Things are about to change around here.
Starting point is 00:00:17 Each week we catch up with Hollywood's hottest girl posse, Kelty Knight, Becca Tobin, and Jack Vanek. Hello, hello, hello, and welcome to the Lady Gang. I'm Becca Tobin here with Jack Vanek and Kelty Knight. and orly and callie yet again orly and callie i can't wait until we're rich enough to have dog walker have dog nannies i need a dog nanny like i have a great dog walker but i need this somebody's gonna watch these annoying little f***ers i mean we could also leave them at home yeah but then i have to pay for a dog walker to go take her out because she's alone all day because we worked so
Starting point is 00:00:52 much now we worked so much this side hustle became a full-time hustle really did yeah we're fortunate AF about it. I know. Yeah. We're so excited about this full-time hustle. Are you eating dog treats? What are those? Yes, I'm eating dog treats. No, I'm feeding the dogs dog treats. I'm proud of you for eating that apple and peanut butter. Were you so happy? Oh my gosh, that was very healthy of you. I'm amazing. I'm so excited about today's show because my friend Michael Yeo is here. He's the best. And we have so many stories. We've known each other for a long time. I used to cry in his room about my career. We were so tired. Oh geez. Nothing's changed. Nothing's changed. But that's fine because we want to start with good week, bad week, I guess.
Starting point is 00:01:26 all right it's time for good week yes it is bad week oh no who's going first i'll go um so jared and i went to starbucks yeah this is my good week jared and i went to the starbucks the other day and they misspelled his name in the best way possible jared j-e-r-d like no joke and it was amazing i've never like how could you mispronounce jared into jerd jerd i've gotten jaff before that's my worst what have you gotten has anybody mispronounced your name bad no because i always use a fake name what do you it's all i press kelly kelly yeah because no one can spell kelty and then they're always like what and then i i feel like i'm famous now i can't really be like k e l because there's still so many famous people like really famous people can you spell keanu
Starting point is 00:02:19 reed right but i don't think keanu reeves goes and it's like it's keanu he's probably like it's adam it's true and they're probably like no it's not you're like we know this sad guy no one's stopped me yet although i will say that the coffee bean on the corner when i go in he's like it's podcast girl so he's like where are you going today i'm like i'm going to podcast he's like i love podcasts and he always remembers me that's not because he knows who you are that's because you just kept saying you're going to a podcast but he's always like podcasting today and i was like every day every day dude okay jerd jerd it was great um my bad week so we wear fake hair when we film and do what i know just to let you guys know maybe you do and one day after we were filming
Starting point is 00:03:02 i was in my car driving home and i took my weave pieces out of my hair and i kind of just like sat them on the seat of my car and a couple days later i still hadn't taken them out of my car they'd just been sitting there becca's on there one day yeah and i went to go valet my car fun and i know you know rich people things so i valet my car the guy gives me the car back he gets out of the car he stands up and one of my hair pieces is stuck the clip is like stuck in his back pocket no oh my god and i like didn't know what to do so i was like he starts to like kind of walk away and i like kind of just go and i'm like and i just just lift it out of his pocket without him noticing but if i didn't he would have looked like he had a horse tail that is so
Starting point is 00:03:47 hot. Cause my extensions are pretty long. Can I go next? Because mine goes with the thing, but that was amazing. Thank you. I also have some new hair in my life. Clayton Hawkins, bless his heart. You remember him from cookies as hair time with clay. Um, we went wig shopping. So my hair has really taken a toll. I had it in such a healthy, wonderful place. And then it went to shit when we were doing the TV show, because it was like TV plus regular job plus, and I just haven't been eating right and no vitamins. And anyway, it just sucks. My hair is back to being like almost Hashimoto's. So he was like, we should get some wigs. Now I had a wig before and I had a bad experience because I looked like I was wearing a ridiculous wig. He's like, no, no, trust me.
Starting point is 00:04:29 Like, let me. So Clayton took time out of his day and he took me to the wig shop. Did you go to the hair shop? No, it's a different one. I don't even want to tell you what it is. Well, it's called his and hers. Thank you. Okay. That's where you get my extensions. they hand make all the wigs there for real they're like super beautiful and so he puts the thing on me and then we start trying on wigs first of all don't have a face for a wig i tried so many looks i was like oh let me try a pixie and i was like let me try blue let me try a dark bob i am not
Starting point is 00:04:56 beautiful those are all very very hard choices for a face i did buy two new wigs what do they look like um one is super long we're gonna cut it up they both need to be dyed so it's real hair And then you can color it Their lace front And then I got a short one That I'm going to wear on TV all the time And so once I get these dyed You're never going to see
Starting point is 00:05:17 I'm going to be essentially Dolly Parton Like you will not see my real hair For another 50 years It's been 50 years Since we saw that real hairline My hair sucks It's like I can't wait to grow up my hair And have beautiful hair
Starting point is 00:05:29 That has never been touched by a flat iron That's smart So you're just not going to touch it at all You don't think I'm going to wear my wig do you? No I think you might give it a shot But I don't know how hard is it to put on the who's gonna do it no it's so easy you just put your hair in a braid
Starting point is 00:05:42 and then you just pop it on so you can do it yourself they don't have to like do it where they like take the lace and then they like put the glue no i'm not gonna do that because i'm on tv so it's like far away oh so i'll have my wig like for today i'd have my wig on all day and then we would podcast and i would just take the wig off so it's not like the kardashian wigs where it's like it literally looks like their little wispy hairs are in the front yeah because it's lace front so those are like little wispy hairs but they do have the kind that you don't unless you're going like full Beyonce and doing like a, like throwing your head around. You don't actually need to glue it down to your head is my thought, but I don't know the answer. No, you it's like
Starting point is 00:06:14 on Broadway, he would pin curl your hair. Yeah. And then you would pin like do little buns all over your head. Yeah. And then you would just pin the wig to the buns. Yeah. Oh, exactly. I'm excited. But the ones that I tried on, I don't know if they just fit my head so perfectly. It's like, you wouldn't even need to pin it on. You would want to pin it just in case. Like what if you went to go hug somebody and got caught? No, it came up. Okay. Oh my God. Don't pin it. I need this bad week for future. I need them to catch it on camera. It would be good. Okay. Bad week. I got to tell you something. I've been so excited to get back on the health train and I got to motivate myself. I bought a whole bunch of new workout gear and I was like,
Starting point is 00:06:56 I'm going to get all this new workout gear and I'm going to be super motivated. I have a bone to pick with the world And it is center seams Oh god on the crotch We have vaginas everyone that makes leggings everywhere Can we not have a Center seam It is
Starting point is 00:07:11 If I have a big vagina sure But I speak for all women There is a 3D printer out there That could make us a legging That has a cotton gusset like a ballet tight I don't need a center seam Why is the seam in the center I would rather have the seam along the sides
Starting point is 00:07:27 center seam pants oh i crush me i know a good brand but don't say it now because they're not paying us but just text me later okay true okay my good week is so a couple episodes back remember when kelty was arguing with me about playing roxy heart in chicago yeah you got an offer to play and she's saying yeah like a lot in the podcast oh yeah everybody's talking about it I love the amount of people that I have commenting on being like, my favorite part of any episode ever was Kelty's bad singing in Lady Gang. So many people were like, they're still talking about it. They're still messaging me being like, oh, I turned on the podcast today.
Starting point is 00:08:11 I got in my car and it was at the point where Kelty was singing at the top of her lungs and it was so embarrassing. It was so good. I think you've never been better. It was good for a few reasons. I did see that many people in our Facebook group voted you as Roxy, which is funny. Did anybody vote for you? Not really.
Starting point is 00:08:28 Anyone voted for me, no. But, I mean, was my singing that bad? It wasn't great. I think it was. It wasn't great. Honestly, it's been a while. When I listened back to it, I was like, oh, this sounded better. But wait, my friend David, he was actually one of my favorite texts from just today.
Starting point is 00:08:44 Oh, God. He said, I put on your podcast with Kelty singing. It reminded me of the singing conductor I had on my way down to San Diego one day. Please see video for reference Put it up to your mic That guy sounds great He sounds like you did Yeah, he sounds amazing
Starting point is 00:09:10 He sounds like a real pro I love him It was great Okay, so anyways That was my good week My bad week is this You auditioned for Roxie I didn't get it
Starting point is 00:09:19 know who good one um i was on ventura in studio city in la and i was going to crossroads because sometimes if i have stuff that yeah i'm getting i'll drop it off and then crossroads get some money yeah it's like a consignment we're fake rich we're not above this yeah well i go in and it's kind of late at night they don't close until seven or eight and it was like pretty dark outside and i walk in the store and there's two young girls working behind the counter like young and two crackheads no in the store shopping shopping slash shoplifting slash being like menaces to society and these two girls are like terrified sure sure and i look at them and i'm like well I'm not going to leave them in here.
Starting point is 00:10:14 That's a shitty thing to do. So I just stood at the counter and like made busy business with them. And the whole time they're like, oh, we have to watch the guys because sometimes they come in and shoplift and we have to like tell them to get out. And I'm like, you know what? You crossroads. You should have a security guard at your stores. If you have young girls working there and people are, and you are open that late and
Starting point is 00:10:37 that is a bad corner apparently because it's not the first time I've seen it. And I was like, as a business owner, that pisses me off. It's their job to protect $3 t-shirts. I mean, I'm not going to say a word if someone's trying to steal something under the influence of whatever they're on. No. Because the next thing they do is they shoot you. They stab you or shoot you.
Starting point is 00:10:56 No, no. What if they had a weapon? Or rape you. And it makes me very mad. And I don't know what to do because I'm like, there's no contact of corporate. So if anybody shops at Crossroads or knows anybody who owns one, they need freaking security guards. Level the f*** up.
Starting point is 00:11:11 It makes me mad. Well, there we go. My ex-work husband's here, and he also makes me mad. You're listening to The Lady Gang. Our guest today is someone I divorced two years ago. Yes. Officially making him my ex-work husband. He's often referred to as Hollywood's resident entertainment and pop culture expert.
Starting point is 00:11:32 Yo, no. Who's the mother f***er? He has appeared on E! News, Chelsea Lately, Showbiz Tonight, Extra, The Insider. Yay. The Talk. Yay. And Wendy Williams. Wendy Williams, I think, has a crush on you.
Starting point is 00:11:42 You might be her next husband. What? When he isn't appearing on TV, you can find him hosting his own show, Sirius XM's Hits One in Hollywood, or performing his stand-up comedy. He even has a very excellent Amazon Prime comedy special, which you can get for free with your Amazon Prime account. It's called Glacian. Wow.
Starting point is 00:11:58 And I went to the live taping of it. Yeah, you did. And I laughed, and I also cried. And I hate stand-up comedy. Chris was like, are we really going to go watch this? And he's like, we hate comedy. And I was like, I know, but it's Michael Yeo. We need to support him.
Starting point is 00:12:08 Thank you. And we loved it. It's very, very, very good. And just when he thought he couldn't be any better of a human, he's also a family man who posts the most adorable photos of his two-year-old son, Oliver, who I was around for the pregnancy, wedding, and inception of. Yes, you were. Not in the same room.
Starting point is 00:12:22 Inception. Yeah, wait a minute. It's safe to say he puts the... Conception. Conception. Inception. That's a different one. Did you say...
Starting point is 00:12:29 Okay. Let me finish your intro. It's safe to say he puts the yo... You're still on the intro. It's safe to say he puts the yo in YOLO. Oh, no. Please welcome to the show, Michael Yo. Wow, you really crushed it, Bernadette.
Starting point is 00:12:41 Do you do that long intro for everyone? Yes. Yeah, yours is extra long. I know. I like how you kept trying to jump in thinking it was done. It was done, and she kept going. I appreciate it. Kelty is like a sister to me.
Starting point is 00:12:53 I know. I absolutely love Kelty. We got up really early in the morning for no reason. For no reason. Why did we do that? And we heard about it every day. Oh, yeah, yeah. It was hell.
Starting point is 00:13:03 No, no, but was it before you started this when they tried to make us come in at 5, 530 for no reason at all? Well, we used to go to those morning meetings. Yes. But no, the real morning meetings started at like 7, 730. But then, I don't want to get into details because people listen. But they had us coming in for like a month, month and a half at 530. Yeah. For literally no reason.
Starting point is 00:13:21 No, no. We would sit in. They wanted us in the meetings. But we don't make decisions anyway. So we're just listening. Sick. There goes my extra sleep. And we're also on the carpet till like 9 at night.
Starting point is 00:13:31 So it was just, it was a dark time. I have an important question. Yes. During that time, did you make the fact that you woke up early for work? your identity, because Kelty couldn't meet a single person without telling them she wakes up at 5 a.m. Oh, well, I think you have to. Really?
Starting point is 00:13:46 Yes. You're so run down. Thank you. You know what? You can stay forever. I'm sorry. You're my people. Me and Kelty.
Starting point is 00:13:52 Yes. We were on a series where everybody got there at 5 a.m., and nobody talked about how early we got up. It was not your identity. Wait, wait. So you were on a show that started at 5 a.m.? Yeah, like call times are 5. And when you were talking to somebody, like, oh, come on.
Starting point is 00:14:06 Here's the reason why. She's lying. That could have had more interesting things to talk about. True. Thank you, Jeff. Okay, so if somebody said, hey, let's do lunch at, like, 3 o'clock and 4 o'clock, you wouldn't go, oh, my God, I'm so tired. I woke up at 5 a.m. No, I would go out until 3 a.m.
Starting point is 00:14:22 You were also doing, like, a large amount of cocaine. Not at that time. Not then. That was just youth. Maybe it was youth. It was probably youth. I have to tell everybody, if I wake up early, I still do this day. It's like, I woke up at 5.30 this morning.
Starting point is 00:14:36 For years. But you have a child. Aren't you used to it now? I wake up before my kid. There's no excuse. Like, I'll wake up, and when he cries, I'm like, I'm here. Like, I'm waiting for him to wake up. He's probably like, that is crazy.
Starting point is 00:14:47 He's like, Dad, I don't need you. Dad, out of here. Let me sleep. Trust me. And as soon as he sees me, he looks at me. I feel like he's a cat because he treats me like he's a cat. And as soon as I walk in the house, he looks at me and then runs to his mom like, that dude's here again. Like, I swear.
Starting point is 00:15:03 That's great. How old is he? He's two. Oh. Yeah, he just turned two. You're like, like me, please. I know, and I hate it. My wife is so great, and he loves my wife and hates me.
Starting point is 00:15:12 I think it goes back and forth. From my friends that have kids, it's like they have a favorite parent, and they bounce back and forth. Yeah, he'll start hating his mom and love you. I haven't felt that love yet. Oh, what are you doing wrong? Nothing. I'm an amazing father. It's probably because he feels you just standing over him while he's sleeping, waiting for him to wake up.
Starting point is 00:15:32 You're so desperate for love. Think of it as your weird energy. Think of it like it's a girl you were trying to, like, get with back in the day. Play hard to get. Oh, play hard. Oh, my son. Like, who are you? Like, I don't know you.
Starting point is 00:15:43 Yeah. Get out my house, baby. I've got other kids. Spawn of my DNA. Right? I don't know. I don't want you anyways. Not, maybe not.
Starting point is 00:15:51 Don't say that. Don't say that. Don't say that. I've been chasing after guys that have said that to me, so you know. That is true. It does work. But women like that. I never understood why women like to chase dudes.
Starting point is 00:16:02 Well, women don't like that. It's like dumb girls that are masochistic. No, like sometimes celebrities will like, I'll see them asking for someone else's number on the carpet. And even though I have a wedding ring on, I'm still pissed. Why don't you like me? What's wrong with me? You always want what you can't have.
Starting point is 00:16:17 And they're like, well, you're an idiot. So that's because you're scary. Because you'll definitely drive by my house at night. I want to know what's the most shameless thing you've ever seen Kelty Knight do on a carpet. Embarrassing. we're not together on the carpets a lot but I've done a lot of shameless shit
Starting point is 00:16:38 I don't can I say anything and you won't get offended because I love Kelty she's like I said Kelty is the thirstiest person in the world that's a fact that we start 200 episodes I told her this when I saw it
Starting point is 00:16:55 it's like she is so thirsty it's like she lives in a desert you know what I mean like she wants to be famous like so bad so bad it's so funny that you still and i've never seen someone that wants to be famous where they will purposely dress in something that somebody else wore so they could be most most who wore it best and it's never her she's like i made it this is my fame i am in a us magazine or whatever magazine you know she has a binder of these correct oh i know i i would imagine i would imagine what
Starting point is 00:17:35 if she ever starts her own podcast it would the pictures you it would just be her like losing it's actually i like that idea yeah i want a wall in here yes oh my god yes let's put all of our failures you don't have any you're right it's hard you beat me in the war better when we shared the same dress i borrowed her dress she's like i already wore it good luck and then i was like okay and then you won yeah but that's what i love it like she's not she you know when i first mentioned it to her like a long time ago he was like you're kind of desperate it turns people off i think it was like a pep talk you were like you don't have to try so hard you don't have to try so hard like just be you you're good enough
Starting point is 00:18:25 chugging just chug i'm thirsty i'm thirsty i'm thirsty no but i was like me i always used to go into like i what i love about kelty is no matter how big she gets she's very there's this insecurity that won't stop with her so i would no no just It's true, it's true. They know me very well. I would go into her, like we were next door. Yeah, neighbors. Neighbors that are-
Starting point is 00:18:50 Dressing rooms. Yeah, dressing rooms. So I would go over and give her pep talks. Hey, don't worry about it. Don't get down. That was her motivational call. Yeah. And I go, hey, you know, like that desperate thing?
Starting point is 00:19:01 The thirst. It doesn't look like, yeah. It's really tangible. Everybody's picking up on it. I was like, you know, you don't want to look desperate, you know, because that's not attractive. And she was like, okay, okay. But that's what I love. She owns it now.
Starting point is 00:19:19 I own it. It's my brand now. It is your brand, and everybody loves it. I just had the greatest idea. What? For your birthday, can we hire Michael to do a roast? Oh, I will roast Kelty. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:19:31 So I think we should do a Kelty roast. I did a roast of Michael Yeo. You did? He had a – was it your birthday? It was my birthday. Claire arranged it. It was our first year dating, and she tried to do a roast, and she didn't know any of my friends, so she was trying to reach out.
Starting point is 00:19:43 But she had, like, really good, like, comics. There was, like, really good comics. Fortune. Fortune. And they had Chris Frangelo. They had other comedians. But mine, who roasted you the best? My dad.
Starting point is 00:19:55 Oh, yeah. You're right. Your dad was the best. But I was second best. I was second best. I did a great roast. She surprised me. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:05 She's an incredible writer. She is. We're writing a book right now, and I was scared to, like, see her essays. and I was sitting on a plane laughing hysterically, there's an untapped gift there. You know what? Kelty, I've never read
Starting point is 00:20:22 anything she's written, but if she writes like she talks, some people don't write like how they actually talk. But the people that write like they talk, that's where the comedy comes in because the thirstiness, the insecurity, the conversations, they all come out on paper.
Starting point is 00:20:38 Yeah, they do. It's been 10 minutes of podcasting. We've only covered one topic so i think we should move on kelsey's desperation but the question started what have i seen her do yeah everything everything like shameless yeah shameless shame oh you know what you got kelty was a person that always when we worked in entertainment she would always want the big carpet and even though yep i remember i remember they used to send me to vanity fair wasn't that the big one oscar's the oscar vanity yeah i made that carpet do you but i felt like They gave me the first, when we started covering the first two or three, and I always felt
Starting point is 00:21:15 like Kelty wanted that carpet. Of course I did. Yeah, she's so nice. Yeah, and she was so, oh my God, you got the Vanity Fair again. That's so good for you. Oh, and so, you know, that's amazing. I'll be at the Elton John one where nobody's going to show up, but whatever, whatever. Well, because when we started, I was just a contributor.
Starting point is 00:21:35 Oh, that's right. You were a correspondent. And didn't you think you were like the host? Yes. Okay, yeah. Can I say this? This is such a good start. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:46 Okay, hold on. Oh, my God. This is so crazy. Oh, no, go ahead. Okay. This is hilarious. No, I'd like to hear his point of view. Okay, yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:55 I'll fact check you. Okay, so we have our first meeting of the new show. It's the Insider, and Kelty's there. I meet Kelty. I meet everybody for the first time, and they're telling us about the show. and you know they go thea's the host uh kevin frazier is the host and michael you're a correspondent mary mary kitchen mary kitchens a correspondent and kelty you're a contributor yeah and then you just she was like confusion i know this is a podcast i wish you could but i wish
Starting point is 00:22:30 yeah like it's almost like a computer just glitch yeah short circuit and and she was confused and then i i always remembered that face she made but it's a contributor and finally when we became really close i go what she goes yeah i thought i was the host oh my god like the actual like She thought she went from online to hosting a major network show in front of everybody. She thought it was Kevin Frazier and her as the host. And we were peons under her. So Kelty walks in all confident. And then when she leaves, it's like, whoa.
Starting point is 00:23:21 Oh, my God. Kelty. This is a true story. Honestly, your facts are pretty much correct. So here's what happened. Here's what happened. So I was working online at CBS, and I was pulled up to be a correspondent sort of for the show before this relaunch. So I was already doing correspondent stuff.
Starting point is 00:23:41 And then the official contracts came out. But, like, it was really – they were launching it. Well, clearly now, in hindsight, I knew I was very unimportant to this whole thing. So they didn't exactly like fast track my contract to like my house with FedEx. You know what I mean? It was like somewhere way, like, oh, we'll get to her eventually. We know she'll come along because she doesn't have any other offers was kind of the situation. But I had an old executive friend who worked here and she was like, had told my agent,
Starting point is 00:24:09 like, you know, Kelty's going to get that job. And like somehow in the like world of things, the telephone was like, that job was like the job and so they had built me up like have you guys have you heard anything yeah no everyone's talking about you you're gonna get the job they love you they're obsessed with you and then no one talked to me so i showed up at this meeting and like i had been filled with you're the new host of the insider and now 10 years later it seems insane because i still can't get that job But I've been working here for a decade. But at the time, in some way, it made sense because I was so green.
Starting point is 00:24:53 I hope to God our girls listening right now, the ones that are constantly emailing us about, like, where do I even begin? Like, how do I get that job? It's like, you just can't believe you got it. What? Kelty did. Oh, my God. I remember. I remember.
Starting point is 00:25:10 This is, like, the best example of manifesting, like, the law of attraction. Kelty's got it. I still don't have the job. I still don't have it. She got it. No, I remember because after that meeting, I was like, oh, well, I'm a – they're confused or whatever. And then I remember going – do you remember when the wardrobe room was that big room? Of course.
Starting point is 00:25:30 Contributor. Contributor. Okay, okay. So I went to the wardrobe room and someone, the old wardrobe lady, had a clipboard with all the new cast. And I was going through the names and I was like at the bottom and I was like, what the – who's Mary? I was so pissed. But anyway, look at me now. Still here.
Starting point is 00:25:47 It's like when you're, like, auditioning for a play in, like, junior high. And, like, you really go to look for your name. Like, I'm Sandy. And you're, like, tree number 15. Yeah. That's exactly what it was like. Kelty, you're a special skill. Really?
Starting point is 00:25:58 Oh, she is. That's what's so amazing about, like. She's the greatest. The greatest. But I just never in my life, like, my parents screwed me up. Now that you're raising children, like, please, like, set some, like, levels of the way the world works. Oh, 100%.
Starting point is 00:26:10 Because my mom was like, you're the best and the prettiest. you could do anything you put your mind to it well then i came to hollywood and i was like yeah i can host a naturally signicated 100 million dollar show my first show yeah of course like what like it's hard yeah okay laura spencer see you later like i got you now i know the way things work and i'll never have that job but anyway that is so hilarious and i i didn't know at the time but when we became friends she said yeah you know i thought i was the host of this show and i with a straight face was like yeah oh and you're like you're a moron yeah yeah that is oh that's the best story i've ever heard is it and it was you know what i'm so glad you brought that
Starting point is 00:26:49 up because i actually forgot it but i've been going through my old journals because we're writing this book okay and i have seen like all my insaneness when i was like today i snuck on the oscars red carpet without a credential so i could get my picture taken and then instantly leave i did that too i remember i almost got fired kelty knight in her pictures man i tell you will you want to oh man you know who's worse than me now though who scott at axis hollywood is he really he's the kelty knight of men oh wow honey honey is wearing a suit scott evans he's wearing a suit he's posing like he's gg hadid i'm like i don't even know this is desperation over here And even for me to notice
Starting point is 00:27:30 Kelty's calling out desperation You'd be so proud of me Don't cry You'd be so proud of me I was at an event in New York And I looked very beautiful But I wasn't feeling like I was going to do the carpet Are you crying?
Starting point is 00:27:45 No, I'm just like emotional The photographers were like, Kelty, are you doing pictures tonight? I was like, no, not tonight Oh, very nice, you gave them the hand No, not tonight they're like great we can use our real camera they were like the plants to make you not feel bad they're like damn who are we gonna test our camera on before the real stars arrive they would always say okay kelty you need to show up at three
Starting point is 00:28:14 o'clock in the afternoon carpet opens at six and she'd be there okay what what 245 no but michael this is why i would love if we could work together again because now you'll see the new me i i yes like this year no no listen listen to me this year lauren zima who works for et online we were at the golden globes or something where she was doing the side position it was the sag awards she's in the side and me and the shower there and i they used to be like you need to be a carpet 130 i'd be like kevin let's go you've got to be on the carpet come on he's like yo yo he's like shows up in his like sweatsuit he's not even dressed here i'm like we gotta go and i got my diamonds on like i'm ready this year lauren was like it's time to go down and i was like girl
Starting point is 00:28:58 we don't need to go down for another 45 minutes eat a salad there you go i was like nothing's happening that's my girl right and then at the met gala this year at the mecca this year i knew my look was fierce you know yeah and normally they would be like they'd call us out they'd be like okay north one get in position and i would go to my position and then i'd stand there for like an hour waiting and i was like zuri like all the other hosts i was like hang back here with me we'll wait till the end everyone will be set up we'll walk out there solos get our pictures taken then go to our spots like juliana rancic does like a real star and they're like wait are you sure and i was like you're a real star watch this and i did it and they were like i think we should
Starting point is 00:29:32 go and i was like no trust me they're not set up yet i don't know if i like this version of you i know i'm so like i i mean i'm still wildly desperate and instant googling myself while i'm still on the carpet knowing kelsey when i knew her this is great so because she was so on call for you know like when somebody's just when they give you a set of rules you should follow but you don't have you're so thirsty to be there yes that that you don't look confident you can be so thirsty you lose your confidence and people just look at you and go oh like that's my thing is like when i that's what i was always that's i i believe the reason why we're next door i always say you got to just believe in yourself yeah and believe in your selfie yeah okay i didn't
Starting point is 00:30:17 say that uh believe in yourself okay and then and then it won't be as thirsty to the outside world because you need to show confidence to look like the star yeah a star you need to have that confidence you know and uh now i have it i'm a big star okay how did you go so i imagine you started in comedy right uh no no you didn't no look kelty knows no i started i started shakespeare yeah i started entertainment news no you didn't no where did i start radio yes right I started radio. Do you not? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:48 Your wife, Michael. I swear to God, we are husband and wife. Yeah. In Miami. I started radio in my – no, I started in Texas, went to Miami. Best friends with Pitbull. Yep. Pitbull.
Starting point is 00:30:57 That is great. Well, so he says. It's like how you're best friends with Ariana Grande. Yeah. But I really am. Like, I'm good friends. Wait. For radio, I worked for – I got a phone call from E, and they were like, hey, our
Starting point is 00:31:13 boss ted harbour at the time heard you on the radio and are casting people like you can you want to do tv i've never done tv in my life just you're like i'll be the host am i hosting for ryan seacrest is that i'm the new ryan seacrest is what you're saying except half black and asian is this what you want i'm coming no i wasn't like kelty i knew i was coming to E to do radio and television, and I remember E, I was on the Daily Ten first, and they go, I go, I want to be on camera, and they go, if you can book your own interview, first one, to kind of show your worth, we'll put you on, and I was like, alright, so I called Benji Madden, when he was dating, was it Benji, which one is married to, one of them, I have
Starting point is 00:31:59 no idea, no, the other one, Nicole Richie, Benji and Nicole, Benji and Nicole, said if you can book, whoever, so I booked Benji, and it was his first interview about the baby they had so that was my first break on television due to the madden brothers and i always yeah so that's how i got started and then from e went to um extra extra then you went to chelsea well i was already at chelsea oh so at e i did chelsea and the kardashians i was in two seasons of the kardashians so yeah and then i went to extra and then five months at extra they still yes yeah cbs he was a hot commodity yeah all over the place all over when did comedy come in so i was on chelsea for three uh for all seven years of her show three years in everywhere i flew to interview
Starting point is 00:32:45 celebrities people go where you performing tonight and i was going i'm not a stand-up comic in my mind i was right i'm not tonight you know but i wasn't a stand-up comic people just thought i was because of association so i tried it out and i loved it and it just took off what do you mean tried it out like i went on stage and did that's it yeah i went on stage in miami the hardest job ever yeah but it was i don't want to it was it was i just told stories about you were just so confident you're just such a funny speaker did you ask like any of the comedians like fortune and all those people you didn't even ask for no and i will say this here's my little piece of advice you're a unicorn he's got his blinders no that's right and here's what i in i would i tell
Starting point is 00:33:24 everybody this and this is a piece of advice for anybody that wants to make it is when you don't know what you're not supposed to be able to do it's a lot easier you're right yeah because in comedy i learned way after the fact you're supposed to start with three minutes go to five minutes go to 10 minutes go to 15 20 25 i started at 15 i didn't know i wasn't supposed to have that much material so i just told family stories messed with the crowd and the owner was like what you did 15 minutes that was your first time i was like yeah and he goes okay tomorrow night you're opening for the waynes brothers so marlin waynes and john wayne was my second time ever performing that open up for them so but i didn't know it wasn't because i was super good it's just i didn't know
Starting point is 00:34:06 i wasn't supposed to there is a lot to that 100 that's crazy though when you don't know what you're not so like when you don't know you're supposed to not be the host of you don't know what you're missing like don't take that too much to heart yeah yeah you're already living that i i tell you like i love kelty nights i'm a weird i if anyone can pull out the outtakes of our uh when we used to host a show together like the weekend shows it was so good so i kind of want you guys to have a show on your own i know oh you guys it'd be amazing yeah do you can we tell the story about when we were too good oh my god yeah go for it you you you tell it because i'll i'll i gotta remember i mean too good i've always thought i
Starting point is 00:34:49 was like okay good but not too good okay no so so there was a time so you're always with tv now we know this because the lady gang like you're always chasing a rating right so it's like oh my god you do a little bit of something different and the rating changes a little bit and they're like well this is the bible for tv this is what we should do now this is what we should do now so they we had this segment i can't remember what it was called but basically it was like that's right so that they had instead of just the two hosts they were like we're gonna do like a group like four and we're always trying when we're on insider they're always trying to separate it from entertainment tonight so entertainment tonight had a male and female host and they were like
Starting point is 00:35:24 how can we make it different well maybe all four of them the two at the time i was a correspondent then like michael kelty and the two people will sit all together in a foursome and side note they were also researching the show too so they were testing like when we would do something they would have a focus group a focus group about it go ahead so we made up this segment where we would basically kind of throw these pop like our allegedly what's happening like we throw these pop culture things back together and we kind of write this ridiculous script and i'd be like and then and then and michael would be like and then i would come in with the comedy yeah we'd like add these little like zingers or whatever and so we did it and it was essentially this split screen
Starting point is 00:36:01 of like the michael and kelty show like and it would go for like three or four minutes three or four minutes of like these hot topics and it was so funny the amount of times we got stopped like People all of a sudden were in a deep sleep here. They woke up, and they were like. Even people in the building would watch it. Yeah. And they'd be like, oh, my God, we saw you guys. You're so funny.
Starting point is 00:36:18 And then, like, two weeks later, they were like, we got to stop doing that. And they literally said, we got to stop, because it looks like you're taking over the show. Yeah, it makes the rest of the show look boring. You're kidding. Oh, my God. I was happy they were honest. And they go, look, we're trying to establish these hosts for the show, and it looks like you're the host. Finally, Kelty looked like.
Starting point is 00:36:42 They're like this contributor intern. This intern thinks she's the host of the show. But that made us feel good. We always had a great connection where we could do. We do great TV or anything we do together is great. And that just kind of proved it. And then they squashed. It gets too good because we had so much chemistry together that when you
Starting point is 00:37:03 zoomed out to like the four people or the other hosts. Yeah, it was kind of bad. Wait, how do you find this? I want to see it. I can find the footage. Could you? I would love to watch it. And then she's right.
Starting point is 00:37:15 I think they just shot it wrong. You know, and it made, because they shouldn't have ever. Gone on just us. Just us. They shouldn't. Were you two standing next to each other? They even tried to get, like, the other hosts, like, they wrote them lines. Oh, then it went to hell.
Starting point is 00:37:29 Who were the other hosts? Well, I don't know. It doesn't matter. It don't matter. We've moved on. We've moved on. But anyway, yeah, I think I, we, I've always felt that there's a time in our lives where our world, we will, I kind of want to see you guys do like a Kelly and rip.
Starting point is 00:37:44 I was just going to say, oh my God, so good. Yeah, it would be so good. Or like the view, but with a mixed gender, like male and female and you guys can't have anybody else. Cause it's just, no, they have to get also amazing people. No, I think, I mean, I always felt that in today's society, here's what's, being a male today, like I watch a lot of shows, it's like I watch The View, I watch The Talk, and I'm like, why can't a male be on one of those shows? Like a male, I'm not saying me, but like me, that I can talk pop culture with any woman and know more about it than her because I'm used to covering it every single day. But then you can put me with a bunch of dudes, I'll talk sports all day with you.
Starting point is 00:38:28 You know, so I understand the, you know, I don't know. I just feel there's going to be a show that come out with three women and a guy. Yep. And it's going to crush. Is it the lady gang? Plus yo. Plus yo. Yo, lady gang.
Starting point is 00:38:42 Yo, lady gang. Okay, I have a question. I want to take a quick vote. Yeah. Do we want to do ask the lady gang questions or should we do the game? Michael yo or Michael no? Oh, you really do have me one. Yeah, or a sweatshirt, whatever you want.
Starting point is 00:38:55 You want a jacket? Do you have a big one? Yeah, we definitely do. Because I will rock it. You want a sweatshirt? Oh, by the way, I have a shoot tomorrow with E.T. Yeah. How do y'all dress?
Starting point is 00:39:07 It's a movie junket? Yeah. You should wear like a dress shirt. Okay. Like a suit? Not a suit. Can you be cooler than a suit? I mean, I look good in a suit.
Starting point is 00:39:17 Yeah, wear a suit. Okay, I'll do it. Because that's safe. Yeah, yeah. And then I know they're probably going to. And then they can always be like, you can dress down. Yeah. If you ever want to add a guy to the gang, just let me know.
Starting point is 00:39:27 I think this is the new show. This is the new show. And then I can talk to you all about guy problems. Let's interview him for the book. Oh, my God. No, I got to send you that. It's so smart. It's great.
Starting point is 00:39:38 All right, when we come back, we're going to play a game of Michael Yo or Michael No. Oh, so original. Hey, ladies. Funk it. Ask the Lady Gang. All right, Michael Yo or Michael No. Okay.
Starting point is 00:39:50 Spice Girls reunion tour without Victoria Beckham. Michael No. Michael No. Michael No. uh i know no not at all because they gotta have all of them right it's not a reunion unless there's five yeah because that's just yeah that's like when the n-sync performed without justin literally that's not it's not an n-sync reunion nobody even cares about that that's just four dudes that's four dudes four dudes
Starting point is 00:40:20 Bold, bold and rude. It's just four dudes. Sink. Sink. Okay. Wendy Williams divorce. Michael Yeo, Michael No. I'm a Michael Yeo because I'm happy for her that she's getting out of that.
Starting point is 00:40:30 And she's dating again. And she is? Uh-huh. It's right here today. Didn't they just get a divorce? Well, it's probably been bad for a long time. Yeah. Yeah, girl, do your thing.
Starting point is 00:40:38 Michael Yeo. Michael Yeo. Michael Yeo, because I'm on that show every month. And the last time I went on, two weeks ago, right after the divorce, and they let Kevin stopped coming in so I walked past his office it was cleared out the energy on set
Starting point is 00:40:55 was amazing oh good like everybody was so happy I went out met Wendy out on stage and I was like I love you
Starting point is 00:41:02 just like I love you it was so much love the vibe was good and you could tell it was totally different I met her new manager and it was just a great great vibe
Starting point is 00:41:09 her new manager is an old school dude that managed like some big talk show hosts back in the day so it was good to see that base there stability
Starting point is 00:41:18 Stability, that bass, and everybody's so excited that that dude, Kevin, is gone. They hated Kevin. Well, they were like, he just got in the way. Yeah, he's toxic. I mean, look what he did to the, I mean. Yeah. Megan and Harry named their baby Archie. Michael, no.
Starting point is 00:41:36 Michael, no. Michael, no. My wife wanted us to name, if we have another kid, Archie. No. What? Well, now you definitely can't do it because they're going to think you're naming it after Archie. Well, her grandfather was named Archie or something like that. But does that matter?
Starting point is 00:41:52 Yes. Does it really? Would you care if one of your friends named their baby Archie? You would. Well, first of all, wait. After hearing Meghan? No, like today. Well, Archie's a stupid name.
Starting point is 00:42:03 Well, and now everybody that's obsessed with the royal family is going to name their kid Archie. Yeah, exactly. Well, you know how I feel about the royal family. How do you feel? I think it's ridiculous. I do, too. We don't give a shit if she keeps talking about them all the time. Well, she has to.
Starting point is 00:42:17 She's in entertainment. But she talks about them to us. Oh, like privately? Yes. That's ridiculous. Well, she was outside the wedding. Very far with binoculars. Just like the correspondent.
Starting point is 00:42:29 She was outside the host. She was watching the host. She was a mile from the nuptials. So you were like there. I was basically there. No, but I just, anytime you're born into something and you don't have to earn it, and that's celebrated. So like Hollywood?
Starting point is 00:42:47 well but here's what i will say yes you get a lot of advantages but if you're an f up you're an f up and can't make it or if you can't act you can't act it only can go so far yeah you know what i mean like royal is forever but you don't have to do anything being a royal family you can just sit around and be rich yeah like i don't think you're that rich huh i don't think they are yes they what are you talking about kelty knight they are rich but like you can't go and spend crazy money yes you can you can't no no the bar owner beside kensington palace told me that kate's favorite shop is tj maxx it's right across because she's trying to stay about the people like if kelty was the princess she'd be going to like gucci louisville yes she would the country
Starting point is 00:43:30 would hate you yeah like they do megan doing it to make her seem like a common relatable okay reboots of aladdin and 90210 are coming out michael yo or michael no michael no i don't care about 90210 yo for aladdin no for 90210 same as jack same same i i can't wait aladdin's great oh you saw it yeah i saw it is will smith good he's actually good yeah we're the trailer looks like shit but he's great yeah i heard it's a fun time did you cover the movie yeah how was will smith i didn't get to interview him i only got to interview aladdin and princess jasmine why not you're kevin kevin went and did will smith in london oh yeah i'm still a correspondent Because he's the host.
Starting point is 00:44:08 Yeah, exactly. He's the host. Exactly. Okay, Hayley and Justin Bieber. What's between yo and no? Michael whatever. Michael who cares. Michael eh.
Starting point is 00:44:18 Like, I don't have strong feelings either direction. Yeah, me neither. I think it's a Michael yo. I like them together. I think it's a Michael yo because I love love. I do. I love love. But that's like young love that's probably not going to last.
Starting point is 00:44:31 But at least it's there and they're giving it a shot. Giving it a shot. But my thing is, nobody should be able to get married until they're 30. Agreed. That needs to be a law. Yep, I agree. Yep. All right.
Starting point is 00:44:44 Great. Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton. Michael Yeo. Michael Yeo. Michael Yeo. She seems happy. Yeah. Alice Rodriguez lost six pounds the week of the Met Gala, so you get slimmed down for those photos.
Starting point is 00:44:57 Oh, God. Barf. Good, stupid. I don't even know who that is. A-Rod. Oh, Alice Rodriguez? Alex Rodriguez. Oh, you said, oh, Kelty, you're pronounced.
Starting point is 00:45:07 Oh, Kelty's pronunciation is wrong? Elis Rodriguez. Elis Rodriguez. He lost six pounds in a week. I hate men because they can do that. But he probably just took a bunch of water pills. So you're a yo or no for that? I'm a no.
Starting point is 00:45:20 I'm a yo. I like A-Rod. Do you really? I like his Instagram husband. I think he's cute with J-Lo. And I think he's the first guy that she's ever dated that is deserving of the Jennifer Lopez poo-tang. Okay. All right.
Starting point is 00:45:32 I think he's going to cheat on her. Sure. Of course. He hasn't already. Sure. Okay. Happy – he is intel, but that's okay. No, no, no.
Starting point is 00:45:41 I'm saving it for myself because I'm just going to say I lived in Miami. Oh. Was he in Miami, too? His house in Miami? What are you talking about? He has wife and kids. That's where they – yeah. Oh, they all live in Miami.
Starting point is 00:45:51 They all live in Miami. Can we talk about his house down there? I've never been there. No, but if you're on a boat in Miami, you can't miss it. Oh, really? It's crazy. But he lives further down in – what's it called? Coral Cables.
Starting point is 00:46:04 Coral Cables. Yeah, I stayed in South Beach. oh south bay you know with pitbull dale dale dale dale okay last one happy taylor swift whatever wait what's happy well she was sad she reputation big reputation she was she's a snake and now she's colorful pastel color that song is fucking terrible i don't like her song i don't like the music that she makes when she's happy so so michael i don't really like the music she makes him she's sad either i love her sad music but it's a michael yes for me michael yes michael i will say i like i'm in between i don't like i'm not a fan of the music
Starting point is 00:46:46 but at least she's being like when she came out well like i'm bad like a rep whatever i know that's i was like michael no hell to the no to that yeah this is this seems more on brand taylor swift like i mean it's 13 year old girl music that older girls like now because it's taylor swift yeah but it's there's no there's no gravitas to it like the truth is jojo siwa could have sang the me song love that is a jojo siwa you know what i mean jojo siwa you know what the bow from dance moms oh you better get into this before you come back and work here by any chance huh no okay well do you smoke weed to really appreciate it you gotta get high and Watch this girl named JoJo Siwa.
Starting point is 00:47:28 Okay, go home. She's a 16-year-old. She's six feet tall. She wears a zypony with a big bow. This could be good for your material. Oh, my goodness. Oh, my God. JoJo Siwa is the craziest thing that you will ever witness in your life.
Starting point is 00:47:39 She just sold out the Sable Center for three nights. What? Doing what? She's doing her concert. Doing her $20 big bows. You know this girl. From Dance Moms. She's 5'9".
Starting point is 00:47:48 Wait, she sold out three nights at Stable. Do you remember that Kim Kardashian took Baby Northwest to the 16th birthday party? It's a YouTube video. So what does she do? She sings and dances and has songs. And she's like Kidz Bop on crack. And I swear to God, there's some weird subliminal message in her songs. The way she talks, it's dark.
Starting point is 00:48:06 I know there is. It's like she's working with like the New World Order. Can you get a video of her talking? She's in the dark arts. She's like, we have to go. You're going to have to Google this. She is not six feet tall. She's five nine.
Starting point is 00:48:18 She's not six feet. She's so tall. And she's 16. And she has a side pony. And she dresses like she's four. Oh, I do know who that is. It's crazy. But anyway, that song, you'll never find another like me.
Starting point is 00:48:28 It could have been JoJo Siwa. Okay. I agree. I think here's the problem with music today. I think all the singers, they all sound the same. They're all replaceable. Yeah. It's the same type of tone.
Starting point is 00:48:40 There's no special. Well, unless you're Ariana Grande. Now, she crushes. She can crush. I mean, that girl is the new voice of our generation. She's the Mariah Carey. She's the Mariah, the Whitney. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:48:49 Yeah. She's the voice today. It's a Michael Yo Ferrari. Yes. Yeah. Yes. Thank you. She crushes.
Starting point is 00:48:55 All right. Are you tired, Kilty Knight? Well, yeah. We've been working since 5 a.m. We haven't even been working since 5. No, we haven't. 8. I got up at 7.
Starting point is 00:49:05 Okay. And did you work for E.T. today? Yeah, we worked all day. Oh. We've literally been working all day. But that's not the story. The story is if you want to follow Michael Yeo, you can follow him on Instagram, at Michael Yeo. You can listen to him every day like I do on Hits 1 in Hollywood.
Starting point is 00:49:19 And, like, I've stopped taking pictures of my radio and sending them to you. I know. That's so sweet, though. I hear you all the time. You're so great. Where are you performing next? I am in San Francisco May 30th and June 1st. And then two weeks after that, I'm in Orlando.
Starting point is 00:49:36 Then I'm taking a break. I've got to write a new hour. So I've written a new 20 minutes. Well, look up JoJo Siwa. Yeah, that's a lot of material there. By the way, this has nothing to do with my comedy, but JoJo Siwa. No, you need to add her into your comedy routine. His comedy is about his wife.
Starting point is 00:49:53 It's about my whole family. His family. So he had a kid. I have a question. And then he's going to start watching JoJo's. Now, I can't wait for that. I need to know. Have you ever used any material that your wife wanted to murder you for using about?
Starting point is 00:50:07 There was one. Like, she doesn't want me to talk about bedroom stuff. So I just have one joke about like the night of the night of like where we got married and then had sex that night. Oh, and then that and then I stopped the other stuff. I got a lot of stuff written. But she'll never let me get by. He really makes fun of his parents the most. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:50:30 Yes, my parents. He's a Korean mom and a black dad. Yeah. That's great. So that makes me me. That's you. I'm special. That's you.
Starting point is 00:50:36 I love it. That's right. Wait, so then is Yo? It's my middle name. Oh, what's your Simmons? Simmons is my last name. Michael Yo Simmons. Which, if I ever move to acting, I want to use my full name like Dwayne The Rock Johnson.
