The Lady Gang.
Things are about to change around here.
Each week, we catch up with Hollywood's hottest girl posse.
Kelty Knight, Becca Tobin, and Jack Vanek.
Hello, hello, hello.
Welcome to the Lady Gang.
I'm Becca Tobin here with Jack Vanek and Kelty Knight.
Good day.
I'm very excited for our guest today.
I know.
Zooming in from New York City.
And she's so busy.
We just like, they were like middle of the day, you know?
Yeah.
Shenaggling.
What did you do to that sweatshirt?
Oh, is it cut?
Mm-hmm.
This is one of the ones.
Wow, it's sliced.
Yeah, because why?
I don't know.
When we were on tour.
Oh, opening a box?
I opened a box with a knife.
I don't know if I did, but this seems like something I would do.
And it sliced it.
It does.
And then I was like, well, I'll keep it.
It looks kind of cool.
I think I could do a little nitty-nitty so-so.
I've seen people, they're starting to embroider.
I was going to say you could do a colored...
Yeah.
Rob Lowe was at...
Wow.
Rob Lowe was at E! the other day, and he had the most beautiful sweatshirt that had all
this really cool embroidery, but it looked very homemade.
but i'm sure it was from like sax or something how's your no shopping going amazing oh excellent
we're in february cracked i almost cracked you did wait how long are you guys i did crack like
i the year yeah wow i cracked and i did return oh only because it didn't work out though right
no i haven't even got it yet i know i'm gonna return it oh i felt so guilty um it was a dress
from target it was 28 is polka dot dress and i uh one of the producers that he was wearing it
is so cute and i was like i have no weekend dresses because like i got rid of everything
ugly and then nothing was left and um and i ordered it online and then as soon as i got
the confirmation i was like i'm gonna return this i'm not even gonna try it on i was so mad at
myself stay strong i know well because it's like you have to go cold turkey or else it's just
because those little 25 purchases well i thought i found i almost cheated because i found on
instagram shopping there was a dress on sale that chow luca brand that i love so much their dresses
are normally like four or five hundred dollars so cute and they were having a sale and one of
the dresses was down to like 120 and i was like and then i saw that you could pay with paypal
and i do have some money in there oh my god i love when you can pay for paypal right
and i was like no it's still still money becca it's money is money is money yeah so i
didn't do it and I'm going to be upset because again, summer and spring dresses. Yeah. I have
lost like the summer dress, spring dress thing. We're going to talk about, we need to talk about
it on the podcast because it's something, it's a lost art form that I have. Well, actually this
goes perfectly into my good week, bad week. Okay. Well it's time for good week. Yes it is. Bad week.
Oh no. Good week. Do you remember when Vivian too was on our podcast and she said her friend
created this app website called Alta daily that, well, I did it. How was it? I signed up.
Describe what it is.
Okay, so it is this website.
They don't have an app version yet, and it's still in beta.
But someone came to my house, and they photographed.
It was supposed to be 150 pieces, but she let me have 300 double because I'm an influencer.
Actually, she told me she ended up photographing 330 pieces.
And they take a photo of, like, literally everything in your closet.
Like, on a hanger?
On a hanger, yeah.
And then they remove the backdrop so it looks like it could be, like, on a Pinterest tile.
But not the basics.
So you, first you get, you sign up, you go through and they're like, do you have gold
hoops?
Do you have a pair of jeans you love?
Do you have a white sneaker?
Do you have a white t-shirt?
They don't use those, but it's like the pieces that you have.
Um, and so she photographed everything and then it was up that day.
And so I'm now on the website.
I've just begun like putting outfits together.
You need to like, what I'm learning from it is that you need to really play with it because
it, I did like, just for fun, like send me to a brunch.
I want to wear flat shoes or whatever.
And that pants that it connected me with, like from my closet, I would never wear with
that shoe.
And I just know that because I know the way they fit.
But I do think I, and I was talking to her about it.
She's like, the more you use it, the more it knows like what you like together style.
Yeah.
And your style.
So you can like go on and like essentially pick the things from your closet and make
outfits to remember, to be like, this would be a cute outfit.
These are things I could wear.
And then you can also see everything you own.
And it's pretty awesome.
That leads me to my bad week.
it really is i'm very excited to continue to use it i think it's going to be a game changer for me
yeah i need to like really figure out what i'm gonna where i'm going where i'm going to be
wearing these clothes but my bad week is the moment that this very fashionable woman came
to the house in her long trench coat like in a great outfit and she's like you know she's when
you guys look through my stuff it's like i know it's a joke you're gonna look at me and like roll
your eyes but like having a professional in your closet it feels like a gynecological exam oh yeah
in a way it's very intimate and so there were times where she would like put something on the
floor i was like oh no no that's like an influencer thing i'm gonna wear it getting ready for the
grammys or like whatever it is like i don't guess where i didn't buy this it's not a part of my
collection that i wear out you know anyway but when she was like do you have any bags
and i had to walk her over and i was like oh i have a bag closet and i opened it up and then i
thought the smell of all my fake bags hit her in the face hit her in the face and i was like i
really only wear that one and that one and i pointed to the two real ones but on this side
it's like fake louis fake potter fake row fake louis vuitton and i was like you know it seemed
like a good idea till now and then i noticed that she didn't upload any bags oh because i was like
they're all fake did she know did she because you know they smell yeah anyway i was really
smell like i don't smell like factory well you must have gotten like the shitty version
no one doesn't smell on its own but when you have eight many it smells like
teen spirit teen spirit go ahead uh i'll go okay my good week is seinfeld is the best tv show
of all time we've been watching it like as hot new information from jack every time i have a story
okay but we've been watching it like before we go to bed for like a half an hour just as like a
palate cleanser from all my true crime and it's just like every episode hits like oh it's like
they're all so relatable yeah so there is this one episode that we watched it was called the
hamptons i think and it had my one of mine and one of becca's recent experiences in the episode
and I'm like only like it's from 30 years ago and I'm like how did this happen true so in the
episode they're going to the Hamptons and one of their friends that they're going to the Hamptons
with just had a baby and the baby is like really ugly and like that's the whole premise of the
episode is how ugly the baby is and like how much everybody's saying it's like such a pretty baby
and that but Elaine Jerry and Kramer like every time they see the baby they're like oh like they
can't even like look at it I don't even remember this episode it's so good it's on there all the
seasons are on Netflix you should watch it because it's so good and I'm like Becca's recent experience
and then do you guys remember a couple weeks ago my bad week was I was at the grocery store and
the bag boy like told me how young I look yeah and then he like turned around and said how young
another guy looked and I was like well that compliment is like relevant gone it's a wash
so in the episode of Seinfeld the pediatrician like comes with them on the weekend and he's
super hot so Elaine has a crush on him she's like he's super hot like she's trying to hook up with
him and she's like in the room with the mom and the baby or whatever and the lady's trying to like
hook him and Elaine up and she's like oh isn't Elaine beautiful he's like yes she is breathtaking
and she's like breathtaking like amazing and then like a couple minutes later they're talking about
the baby and she's like oh my god isn't he the cutest he's like the baby is breathtaking
and Elaine was like what the and I'm like this is exactly what just happened to me and I'm like
How do they have this relevance three decades later?
And how is it that we've been touched both by these things?
I know.
Nobody touched me.
No.
There wasn't a you reference in there, but there's got to be somewhere.
There's got to be.
So my bad week is we recently posted a clip on TikTok about me talking about giving Jared handjobs.
Yes.
And the caption of it was like, I hope my parents don't listen to this episode.
And guess who commented on the TikTok?
No.
May.
My mom.
She says, too late.
time to go stick too late time to go stick hot pokers in my ears and the best part is my mom's
tiktok username is just like user with like a bunch of like letters and numbers so it doesn't
even say like mayvanic it's just like user 425678 so but i know it's her but i've only figured out
it's her from the comments that she's left me like over time this is like my mom i found my
mom's finsta really yeah she accidentally was on her finsta and left a we're so proud of you
sweetie and i was like hold on hold the phone right now and i was like this is not your instagram
and i was like mom do you have another instagram she's like oh sometimes i can't get in one so i
log into the other and i made her delete that i was like you don't get a finsta i know you're
listening to lady gang yeah that's amazing i know oh my god it's so funny does your mom scroll
tiktok oh yeah no she knows about things more than i do wow she is in touch she's in touch yeah
okay so my uh my good week is gonna be both of your bad weeks okay so you guys have your
manifestation lists and like all the things that you never accomplished i didn't have one this year
i've beat you guys to it what i now play pickleball i know i know how the game works it's
quite complicated i know how to keep score which is kind of the hardest part of pickleball well
because you have to do it in your mind no what do you mean you have to do in your mind you have to
keep it in your mind well no it's a complicated way they score so it's like the server you have
to call out the server number that's serving and yeah depending on what side of the court they're
on and it's like that is then it's switched right so that's the hardest part it's very complicated
are you wearing cute outfits no no thematic dressing you know how i feel about thematic
dressing it's like the best i have i have a um fabletics like tennis dress like like i don't
play tennis but i'm saving it for when we play pickleball it's gonna be so cute well i hope that
i don't like you know become professionals semi-professional before you guys learn because
we won't be able to play together because our levels won't match up who are you playing with
my friends in austin and it is very fun but so fun at one point there were like four of us out
there playing you know moms and then we were listening to like biggie on a speaker and i was
like tell me you're middle-aged without telling me you're middle-aged yeah we're playing pickleball
listening to biggie well when jared and i were playing pickleball when we went on our little
like staycation thing it was us and everybody else was over 70 years old oh yeah but i was like
this is for a good workout it can be if you do one-on-one it's a really good workout because
you're like running around but i think the reason that 70 year olds like it is because like it's not
quite as much running it doesn't have to be as much running as low impact but it's still good
You're walking, like, a lot of steps.
It's still a good, yeah.
It's a good, like, your heart rate gets up.
You don't think about working out.
It's really fun.
I get it.
Yeah.
Like, I never doubted it because why else would the world be obsessed?
But I really like it.
So it's very fun.
My bad week is that I have scraped every wheel on my car.
Yep.
And I have a thing.
I'm taking it up with the car industry.
Big car.
Big car.
I just thought that.
Why are wheels scratchable?
Scratchable and expensive.
So expensive.
It's the dumbest.
Wait, scratchable?
Like, does that mean it's like opening it?
The rim.
Oh, the rim.
Not the tire.
Oh, it's like scratching a tire.
Like, why are we not making rims out of what we make airplanes out of or space shuttles?
Steel.
Like, I feel like it's like, you know, the gold on a ring is like there's hard gold and soft gold.
We need to be making them out of diamonds, unfortunately.
but also make it out of a tin can so that I could pop that bitch off and put it on when I fuck it
up. It's thousands of dollars. I'm so sick of this big charade. Wait, can, is it like an aesthetic
thing or is it like a functional thing? Like, could you just leave it on? Of course I could,
but it's up in scratch. So if I go to sell my car, it's going to be a ding off the price. Cause
it's like thousands of dollars to fix these rims. And I'm like, it's like telling me to go wear a
two thousand dollar shoe at a music festival like why would i ever do that driving through the
streets of a city with a hubcap that is it's like makes me want to scream i'm pissed big car at it
again big car do they have like bumpers i could put on yeah you need a bumper like a bumper for
a little rubber cover like when you bowl is this our million dollar scrub daddy if you had little
pool noodles on your car you know how like when you go down the car they literally do that on
jeeps they do well they put pool noodles over like when you like i need a pool noodle on all sides of
my car so when i hit something or someone i don't think that's gonna help i need something does am
i missing something i just need somebody to tell me why it's so hard curbs come out of nowhere
out of nowhere anyways when we come back we'll ask tamron what she thinks when we come back she'll

our show in the drop down menu that follows thank you now back to the lady gang our guest today
is a fashion loving two-time emmy award winning host who commands the tv every day with her deeply
informative and thoughtful talk show in which we once got so nervous and totally embarrassed
ourselves and talked about snail trails to everyone in america for some reason she's a
lover of true crime and has a brand new book yes in her jordan manning series watch where they hide
i finished it all in one sitting because it was that good please welcome back to the lady gag
our queen tamron hall i love you we're so good we're so excited to see you are you in between
taping your show because you're looking very beautiful i did take two shows today and we had
fabulous it's our week of love on the tamron hall show so we had all these love things going on but
i don't know because no one tell tells a snail tale whatever it is trail like the you guys i
still have people asking me about the underwear story heard round television i'll never forget
this is cemented in my mind where we're sitting there and you know the train has left the station
And it's just it's going. And then I'm looking out at your beautiful audience and everyone's faces are just stunned.
You're like, should I do it? Should I do it? I'm already talking.
But it's on my real tape. In fact, with all the Indies, when I got an Emmy nomination again.
And you probably you're probably the reason why you educated all those Emmy judges.
Oh, wow. Doing the Lord's work.
Um, you have been doing it all. And the last time we spoke to you, we was very early in your sort of motherhood life journey of all of this. How are things now? And how, you know, how are you living, breathing, having energy, parenting?
Well, OK, where are things now? I'm still hiding in rooms trying to do things like this because the enemy is on the other side of the wall.
So I've created a dog moat. The Bernadoodle is the moat.
And so across the Bernadoodle, I then can hear and I know that the forces are coming in.
The little Napoleon that I share this home with. But things are wonderful.
You know, he's about to go to kindergarten and that was a traumatic thing in itself.
I live in New York City and they pretty much have a I don't want to I don't want to say anything mean because in case I was listening, my kid will never get in school again.
But it's a very complex structure to get into or infiltrate since that's the thing.
The kindergarten school system here. But no, we're great.
He's he's doing so good. He's he's really a shy child and he's now coming out of his shyness and he's getting more brave.
Like we do a lot of like positive reinforcement.
I'm trying to get, he's a buck band.
And two of his friends came over,
they climbed up really fast
and he still hasn't been able to climb it up yet.
So the bird of doodle.
And so the forces have infiltrated at least one of them.
And, you know, I was just talking to him.
I was like, you know, just like Marshall on Paw Patrol,
you can do it.
You are so brave.
And he's like, I don't know, I can't open a fall.
I think he felt, that's the bird of doodle.
He said, I think I'm going to fall.
And I say, no, you've got this. So it's a reminder to me, honestly, of the importance in all of our lives of confidence, right? Rooting for it's essentially a PRT. You're rooting for them. You're teaching them to root for themselves, but you're teaching them the spirit of rooting for someone. And I'm just like, you can do it.
And I thought about all of my relationships with my girlfriends and even my parents in really journey.
The journey is really about rooting for people.
And so that's been that stage of parenting.
You know, I said, well, he's either going to be a narcissist who needs people to root him on all the time or he's going to really come out of this feeling like his mom and dad loved him.
So we'll see.
The jury's out.
Just kidding.
Never raise a narcissist.
Never, ever on planet Earth.
Listen, I sometimes, you know, because you're going, oh, wow, look at you eating all your French fries.
Everything is like, whoa, you built bigger trains than anybody else.
Really doing to my kids.
I catch myself with that all the time.
My son is about to turn two this week.
And I don't know the line of encouragement versus like setting him up to not be the greatest at everything and to have praise from everybody.
I don't know what that is.
Well, I'll tell you, we talk a lot about parenting when we were together, and I've not told anybody this.
I finally signed up for a parenting class.
And not that that's a bad thing.
No, people who did, God bless.
And not that I didn't think I didn't need it.
You know, you're busy, and you're reading a lot of books, and you're talking to a lot of people.
And I've got a great community of friends who are parents and who offered advice.
But there were things like, you know, appropriate praise and what is that.
And I'm a late-to-the-party parent.
This will be my only child. So if I screw him up, then my record is zero for zero. So I have no wins on the table. And I signed up with my husband for a parenting class. And we are studying this thing called the praise method and all of these things that come with it.
And one of the things is like this special play time that you carve out every day.
You know, it's about 15 minutes.
This is the introduction of the class.
And it talks about, you know, imitating them, repeating what they're saying, praising what they're doing, explaining detail to detail.
And what I learned in this now three weeks of becoming a master at this, because I mastered the math, is really it's about being present.
And really, when you repeat something that someone says, for example, that means you are really listening. And even the little ones catch on to that. So this praise thing is really big right now. I have to believe that it's not going to create little narcissist type kids in our lives, that it becomes a confidence builder. And I'm already seeing, I see a difference. I know it's crazy. We've only been taking this class for, I don't know, about a month.
And truly, I've never told I've not told anybody this, but other than my intimate family members, but I see a level of independence that we weren't seeing in our child. And also this confidence. He's got a little more swagger. I think it's because of the method of this praise and then walking away. You can do it by yourself. So we'll have special playtime, 20 minutes. We have fun. And then I leave and I say, OK, well, you know, finish up your train by yourself. You can do it. I have something else to do.
i'll be back but you're great and we have oh my gosh i would love for you to send over some short
uh notes to becca and jack because i could use the praise i feel like i would like to praise her
yeah she needs it i need a little bit positive reinforcement dan what do you need i got you i
got you thank you tamron you know what you've you saved our life last time you were on and you're
just going to teach us the ways of the world again i do want to talk about this book how on earth do
you have time to write and it's not just this is not the kind of book that it's just someone else
wrote it or she just threw some stories on a page i mean it's a whole wigamo role with jordan manning
back in the back in the mix how on earth did you find time to make this book do you know what so
the jordan manning series has it's been funny all of these are real things in real cases that i
covered i've been added on a nice thick juicy layer of fiction and sexiness that probably doesn't
exist in my life that sound you hear is my bird in the background who always interrupts these
interviews a bird i have a bird named josephine berker what i have a my okay oh i know i have
y'all just get me to tell everything since you're under so i yeah you know i take a parenting class
the second thing i have a uh obsession with birds i have bird plates i have peacock i have a peacock
that someone gave me i did not taxidermy it it was a gift i have a beautiful albino and i please
don't call me i i love tamron my godfather was a peacock farmer well let's let's hook up that's i
want my husband knows the two things that i want in life before i leave this planet i want a living
peacock and i want a donkey um those oh my god yes prior to own above all else and and i so this
bird we have her name is josephine burker she's a senegal parrot like josephine baker and so she
hears us in the other room and now that the bernadoodle has opened the door and i can't get
up and close the door the bird can hear us so she went in the lady gang so you have an official
mascot of the lady gang there you have hell yeah wait so does she repeat she'll repeat things yeah
she talks she's a synagogue parent she'll say like you know um anything i mean she'll repeat
but it's all all sudden she's very so here's the she loved me until i got pregnant she i can't
touch her now she'll bite me she'll bite my kid but she'll fight us in the house so i feed her
And it's like this. I open the cage door and I'm like, Josephine, get back. Get back, Josephine. And then I throw the food and she's like this. And like perched, like ready to swoop like a hawk. And I essentially birthed this bird. Can't you tell? I birthed this bird. And I went to the airport. I went to a reputable, you know, all that and up and up and up.
A bird dealer.
Yeah, bird dealer.
That sounds terrible.
But I've had a pet bird my entire life.
I had one for 18 years and he passed away when we moved here.
So I got Josephine.
Anyway, I digress from my book.
The book is inspired by real cases.
This is what happens when we hang out.
The book is inspired by real cases that I covered when I hosted Deadline Crime.
And so writing the story really came from an authentic place of being on the ground and covering two cases that are very similar to this case that Jordan Manning is following.
It's a call about a woman who is missing. Has she decided to vanish from the life that was a lie, her husband and the relationship, or has something more sinister happened?
And so I covered a couple of cases, but two that never left the front of my mind because these are real people and I don't forget these things.
And so I wrote that part easily, but I needed to have a twist because it's a thriller and it's juicy.
And I started going down this rabbit hole.
My poor husband, when he finally reads the book, he goes, what is going on in your sick mind that you came up with that ending?
I was like, I don't know.
I don't know.
But it's, you know, it's inspired by real things that as a crime reporter that I encounter, but also balanced with what is life like for a crime reporter?
You know, I always tell people you don't get to just go home and forget what you covered.
But I also wanted Jordan Manning to have a personal life.
You know, she's in her 30s. She's asking those what if questions. Why is everyone else getting married and I'm not?
Am I putting work first? Am I ever going to meet the Mr. Right? You know, there's a scene where she's on a date and she shows up and he's like, are you going to date me or are you going to date work? What's up? And those are things that happen to me, but happen to women all the time. You know, especially in your 30s, we're in that weird, funky age where career matters, but consistency in a relationship matters too. That's what we see with her.
well I love it so much and I guess my next question is I mean you're gonna continue to
make these books I think I've already started this third one I've already okay yeah but are
you into um the new trend of the smut books Tamara oh my god so you know do you know what
the smut is I'm gonna guess but you're gonna tell me well the smut's the sexy books tell me
It's like Colleen Hoover.
But what does the acronym mean?
Sexy,
sexy,
mature,
right.
Under,
under.
It's basically,
I would love.
It's like software.
It's not porn,
but it's like Danielle Steele for our moms.
Like Skinamax.
I used to call it.
Yes.
Love to do that.
The problem is I feel because I got married late in life and I,
I had a robust dating life.
Let's put it that way.
that people will start to try i i write inspired by my life right i write things that come from
a place of experience so if i start writing you know some scene of muddiness right then all of
my exes are going to think it's them my husband i will be the fourth gang member in the bed because
i will be in a marriage that's falling apart i i can only write from what i know and i'm not ready
to go down that road
just yet.
I need to hold on to some secrets.
But when I do get in it, let me tell you,
if I decide to get into
that particular lane,
it's going to be good.
It's going to be fire.
That's what I mean.
It's going to be good.
No, because you're a lady that was
not a late bloomer because you were
blooming, but late relationship
were bloomer where you were like, oh, I'm going to
date longer i'm gonna have my kid later you had lots of time to have lots of good stories
i was blooming just she was bloomed i was really bloomed i was dating and having healthy dating
i wasn't convinced that marriage was the route for me and not i love being married to be honest
with you um and i love the idea of it but i never i was never the person who you know i didn't get
the bridal books and oh gosh this is how it's going to go down you know i love looking at them
because i love fashion and i i cried every wedding because i'm a hopeless romantic i've even
officiated three weddings but the idea of okay this is how it has to go down for our connection
to feel real um was it the case and i'm actually on our show coming up we're doing this um genealogy
thing and they've got the philadelphia genealogy society they're tracing back my family and i never
wanted to do that to pick one us when you get I recently agree and I have I barely come from a
long line of people who decided not to get married by choice like they were my grandfather did not
have my mother up he didn't get married I think to my mom was until he was 35 I'm sorry he was
35 when he got married he was born in 1901 that was unheard of so I'm a lot of people in my family
for whoever reason did not embrace the the formality but were in long-term committed
loving relationships which is interesting even the women in my family like we have
things and documents where they were not necessarily keen on the formality of marriage
but had loving long-term relationships oh that's so interesting that's so interesting
CoverGirl's Lash Blast Clean Topia, the plant-powered mascara you know you love,
is now available in a new ultramarine black. It's a fun twist on the classic black. This is
actually really fun. I've been using this a ton at work. It's like this really dark kind of navy
color and it really accentuates the eyes and just looks like really chic and very, very fresh. This
mascara delivers up to 300% more extreme lush volume versus bare lashes and it's inspired by
the power of plants with 100% cellulose plant fibers. If you love a clean vegan formula, this
one is infused with aloe leaf, ceramide. The hourglass brush really like kind of wraps, lifts,
and volumizes each lash from root to tip. It's available in all five shades, but I really think
you should try the ultramarine black. It's really, really cool. Plus, you can wear it up for 24 hours.
It's smudge-proof, flake-proof, and clump-free. Only from Easy Breezy Beautiful. Have a go!

On Podcast One or wherever you get your podcasts
you're listening to the lady gang one of my favorite things that you do on your show is
your emerging designer series because you're such a fashion girl and you've been crushing it and all
the designers there have been multiple days that i've watched you wear someone and then i've gone
on their instagram been like could they make me a dress for the oscars this is amazing um so you're
doing you're doing the good work but what are your fashion things you're dying over for 2024
oh what are you into what are you loving what do you want more of i've always been into the cowboy
collections but now this was it's like she went for all you know beyonce with act two being cowboy
i just went on the road with miranda lambert and she has her line that i love she sent me a jacket
and she sent me these incredible red suede cowboy boots
that are sick.
I'm really into the glam cowboy.
I find it just so refreshing.
I know this, the mop white thing is big, right?
Yeah.
I don't think that ever left me.
I think I've always been a little bit of that.
I love, you know, I think,
and all of you have that similar aesthetic.
I love the femininity of it.
I like the fun of it.
I just clearly, I love feathers,
which was really big trend last year.
But I think I'm really into this cowboy, sexy cowboy thing.
And Miley Cyrus, I mean, my God.
Oh, my God.
The vintage Gucci was just, Jesus wept in my house with me.
I'm always into vintage glamour clothing.
I know that like the more kind of earthy, they used to call it grunge.
I don't like that term necessarily.
But, you know, just the more vintage old school style I get.
But I now love that a lot of the Tom Ford things from his Gucci years are now being coveted and coming up again.
Remember Roberta Cavalli, some of the modern stuff, the vintage Cavalli.
I credit Rihanna for that because she really has brought back that 90s, early 2000 vintage where it was that high disco glam.
That Michelle Pfeiffer in Al Pacino Scarface glam.
i'm here for that i'm very specific that is a great reference i know it's actually crazy no
and i love that and i love that you keep i can't imagine every time i watch you i'm like there's
no way she can come out with another good outfit today on the tamron hall show and just every time
doesn't stop every time i'm so happy you watch that up-and-coming designer series because it
really is my love letter to people who love fashion but also we don't all like as as the
we know the four of us are here that, you know, the things that you want in life don't always
shake out as planned. And you have these people who have great talent, but as my friend, Bevy
Smith says, life be life. And so they weren't able to pursue their fashion dreams. One ended
up being a nurse, saving lives by day. And then at night coming in and still finding, you know,
her way to her sewing machine. And she made a dress for me in 24 hours. We had another person
who decided at age 52 to go back to fashion school.
He was a successful architect his entire life.
He could have said, I did a great job.
Let me go retire on an island.
He went back to fashion school
where there were 19 year olds in class.
They thought he was the teacher
and he created these perfect designs.
So I love the idea of not giving up,
the idea of pursuing it and keeping that passion.
So that is our love letter.
And it's been a huge success
um in that the audience so that series first interestingly enough so many people from a wide
range of backgrounds men women white black whatever lgbt have all come to me in some
capacity and say i love that series and that makes me feel good because our show
and i hope as a person i have the type of platform to bring in people who maybe don't
normally mix and mingle together but now you found yourself mixing and mingling on our show
I really love that. It reminds me of that meme. Have you seen it where it was like enough of the
Forbes 30 under 30, give me the Forbes like successful after 60, where it's like that
third chapter, that fourth chapter, it's like the guy that went back to fashion school. Like
those are the most inspiring stories to me. Well, they are even, you know, we, we do a couple of
shows a year on age, right. And, and from the perspective of what's the secret, you know,
the joy. Obviously, if you're going to age, you want to look good, too. And it's so interesting
how those shows do well, even with our younger demo, because I remember even when I was like
27, I was in Chicago at the time, and there's a spa that was owned by this woman. And I walk in,
so she's so beautiful. And I'm like, what is the secret to your skin? She's like 88 years old,
looked like she was 22 and she said i don't care what you have to do mask every day don't use one
of those drying your skin out mask she goes i don't care if you have to not you know buy this
she named all these things to give up just buy yourself a good mask and you mask every single
day and do you know i have 53 i mask everybody i scare my neighbors i scare my child because we
are looking for those little sage advice in addition to the substantive things of course
right by people you know try to do of course we know those things and those are always great
but then a good beauty tip from a smoking hot 70 year old does not hurt and i think those are the
things that that celebrating people who are on this ride and who found a way to keep it going
and keep it going your fun way that's that's always exciting what's your favorite mask so far
eminence i love their their mask i love their products their products are great and they have
the skin probiotic one and it's got like i and there's like a minty texture to it i've used it
for years it is hands down my absolute favorite because it has like a eucalyptus to it it perks
me out but i love their masks see how fast i said that's how you know and ordered hot order i do
have a question i i hate that i wrote this um the way that i wrote it in my notes but i wrote tamra
you're someone we look up to for being passed over and i mean it like your story passed around
no no no but your story is so she's like you're our favorite loser no no no no i'm you're my
favorite resilient queen and i love part of your story and i see it we see it in our community
all the time. He, he didn't love me enough. I, when is it going to be my turn? Um, a lot of
girls, especially coming out of the pandemic in this sort of recession we're in are like,
I didn't get the promotion. I didn't get the thing. There's a person in my office who does
less work. That's making more money than me. It's, it's this whole thing. And so I really
wrote that down because I wanted you to speak on this to our girl. Like, how do you hold your head
high how do you find your next thing how do you keep going when sort of everyone around you is
like you're you're not the chosen child right now you know I tell people all the time in most cases
you were not the first choice you know in most cases even in dating you look at the person you
were with right now they probably really loved someone else and it didn't work out that's just
a hard truth and it wasn't meant to work out right doesn't mean they got married because you
are probably not their first love. In rare cases, I mean, we have a couple coming up,
the invisible string. I don't know if you've been talking about that. So we have a couple coming up
on our show. They dated in high school. He says it was love at first sight at the cafeteria.
Didn't work out. They married other people, had children with other people, got divorced. He
stumbles across, you know, her number or a picture somewhere and this reconnection. He always felt
there was this invisible string. And I was just talking with LaShonna Lynch. She is the star,
one of the stars of the movie Marley. She plays Rita Marley. And she had already done some work
in Marble Universe and James Bond. She got a couple of no's recently. And those no's led her
to this huge film, Marley. And had she received a yes, she would not have been available to take
on this iconic role of Rita Marley, the person who helped architect and protect and create the
Bob Marley name and legacy. So I feel that it's really, this is kind of crazy. It's like, was
that the Nemo's just keep swimming? You know, you just have to keep swimming. I didn't know the day
that that all went down in my prior job. And I went home and it was a Tuesday, I vividly remember.
and I had to make this decision.
And people would say to me,
you were so courageous.
You walked away from, you know,
millions of dollars that were offered.
But the trade-off was,
I was going to be erased from the show.
I was going to get this payout or whatever it was.
And you were never going to see me again.
And I was supposed to be able to live with that.
And I couldn't live with that.
You will find those points
that you can't live with something
and you'll walk away and it will all make sense.
the the the person that you think you love and for whatever reason the stars are not aligning
as they like to say and the rejection is real and the heart is broken it will all make sense
in very real time if you keep moving forward i thought once i went into an interview and i just
knew i'd killed it i was like oh you signed a contract send it my way and i did not get that
job. And in real time, I had to make a decision of was I going to wallow in pity or was I going
to go keep moving? And I ended up actually getting the Today Show. So, so many things happen
that look like no's. They look like stop. But your spirit and your purpose will push you forward.
I was sharing with someone recently, you have to embrace fear. You have to embrace being
uncomfortable. You have to embrace it. It's a part of life. I have a 27 year old nephew and a 22 year
old niece. And I think why I'm so at ease having this conversation is I have it with them all the
time. And they don't see me that way, right? They're like, there's no way you were 27 and
feeling this way and had angst. And, you know, I'm like, you don't think I stayed up listening
to every love song, trying to figure out if body rate has the secret to keep this relationship
going or whatever you know of course of course and getting them to understand that this is such
a life is such a fun book it really is and if you keep staying excited about what you said the
chapters and you keep curious about how is this all going to play out none of us are where we
probably thought exactly we would be you might have had an idea but right now and staying curious
about how your own book will play out and that it's okay if you're the only person who's ever
going to read it, but hang on because I don't care who you are or where you are. It's a hell
of a ride. Just hang on. Oh my gosh. On that note, Tamron Church, Church of Tamron, you guys,
